I'm sorry but I can't stop thinking about a certain angsty idea
Like pretty sure this is implying getting married is a canon event? But in a way, doesn't that kind of, really strip the choice and actual love and magic out of it? Or, could you at least understand the idea of a Spiderperson who may feel that way? Did you genuinely fall in love with someone if it was "supposed" to happen? And the universe could fall apart if you don't so you arent really even given a choice to say no? Isn't that like having a preprogrammed robot instead of a true lover?
Still kinda obsessed with the concept of a Spider Reader where you didn't get scouted by Miguel until after you had already lost your loved ones, but, it's clear that some Spiders are scouted before they have all of their events (Pav), and, I can't stop thinking about, you're in the Spider Society and making friends and having fun and stuff and you're. Still supposed to get married or have a relationship or something and you're just, completely avoiding having anything at all, not even dating anyone, nothing really feels natural to you and you just don't really want anything?
Months and months and months pass and you've turned multiple people down in your home dimension and Spiders at the Society are told not to interact with you in certain ways, which becomes overboard when no one ever seems to want to hug you or even high five you or touch you at all (because "oh don't let them get a crush on you, they can't break canon" or some dumb paranoia) which just eventually develops into isolating you from the Spider Society, and they all think, "ok good they'll spend more time at home and then start the route for this canon event and we can talk to them again" but it just. Doesn't happen. You're starting to show up to the Society less and less but the only thing that changes when you get back home is a loneliness that you fill with a pet and some platonic friends
Peter B is trying to "subtly" nudge you. "Ya know kid, aren't you in your 20s now? Isn't it time you try and, I dunno, get into college or something? You've got so much potential!" as he willingly omits how he met his wife in college and maybe it's in the model that you could meet your spouse there too as a potential option
But I like the idea and already lowkey established concept that canon changes and has tweaks here and there and can be bent in certain ways so, imagine like, idk, imagine Reader already being with the person who is supposed to your soul mate, and, you find out about The Model or whatever, the Arachno Humanoid Poly Mutiverse or whatever, and you just realize kind of on accident that, oh having a relationship at all is kind of just another prison for you to be in, huh? Another choice stripped away from you, another thing that made you feel like a rubber stamp in existence in the weird copy/paste Spider Society. So you just. You don't intentionally bomb the relationship but you become so extremely depressed and refuse to talk about it with your SO that they actually leave you, making the choice independently, changing canon but not breaking it
But here's Miguel, which I guess you could imagine as a protective obsessive romantic figure or even platonic parental, and he's all but grinding his teeth because, as he sees it, you're not only risking completely breaking your canon which you know Would Fucking Kill You, but, why are you constantly shooting down what are supposed to be good changes for your life? No relationships? No college? No aspirations at all? Why are you not living up to your full potential? He's so frustrated because he KNOWS you could "be better than this" and that you're "supposed to" be better than this, but you just seem. Depressed and defeated. He wants you to be better because it's better for your life, your future, your safety (even if depending on preference it absolutely gets under his skin to see you with anyone else romantically or sexually)
And I have no idea how they would externally force you into some kind of relationship but, I've also thought about, alternatively, the tried and true "Reader lost their home dimension but somehow didn't disappear and lives on Earth 928B now" (the movie specifics its 928b ok, pet peeve I know, 928 is comic Miguel, 928b is ATSV movie Miguel) and eventually, somehow, your bracelet comes off one day and you're about to freak out and it's like, wait, you aren't glitching??? Why aren't you glitching? I mean, you're happy to not be in pain and flashing colors, but, this doesn't make sense? And you don't wanna tempt fate but you don't bother to get a new bracelet or, other people are around to witness this weird event and so, Miguel is immediately investigating what happened. I imagine maybe they scan you with the Go Home Machine and it's just like "ha ha yeah you're home already :)" you know like some "Dimensional Match: 928B" and the machine doesn't even activate, it just scans you with the drone, is like "yeah you're good lmao" and goes back to sleep
And now Miguel is like, you know. Understandably concerned because now there are two Spiders for Nueva York, but, also, he's just like, unbeknownst to you absolutely over the moon necause if you're technically a part of his dimension now, maybe you can complete your canon and have some sort of happy ending. But. Miguel never had his wedding either? Or at least not the "true" one, like how Peter moves on from Gwen to Mary Jane? Cue Miguel suddenly spending suspicious amounts of time on his platform in the dark looking at holograms and algorithms and asking Lyla to calculate the probability of you two maybe becoming spouses for each other
AND YOU'RE SO FUCKED IF IT SAYS YOU CAN LMAO. Cause now not only is he all the more obsessed with you (you were BROUGHT to his dimension by a miracle, can't you SEE you're destined for each other) but now it's "don't you understand? Not only are we MEANT for each other, you don't have a choice! You CANT break canon!" And he's fucking putting a finger in your face and lecturing you about how, you know what, it's ok if you're scared and you're not ready. You know why? Because you two were made for each other, and, he must have been made to be this strong so he can protect you and make decisions on your behalf, right? It's all in The Model. It's all in God's Plan. The two of you are going to get married whether you think it's the love you're fantasizing about or not, and Miguel is more than thrilled that he was essentially just handed a certified excuse to keep you all to himself on a silver platter
Also. I guess this is preferential but. Imagine if Earth 928B's solution to two Spidermen, like how Miles' "corrected" itself with getting rid of blonde Peter, what if the universe and canon just went, "actually it's all cool though cause technically one of them isn't going to technically in name be a Spider anymore, they're going to be forcibly turned into a cute little pampered house spouse" and ON GOD he's getting children out of you if you're capable of it and that ISN'T optional. He's thinking you can start at AT LEAST three babies and then talk about how many more from there? He's always wanted a large family with lots of cute little girls and boys, you know 👉👈

AU idea: Evil Marleyan Levi who came to Paradis undercover and became the Captain, but Evelyn always tried to get to know more of him and accidentally found out the truth, so he kidnaps her and keeps her hidden away while continuing his mission. I was thinking he could be super mean and condescending in this 🥰 (my degradation kink is showing lmao)
The Truth About You|Levi x Evelyn AU
(A/N: Interesting idea Anon! We love a good degradation kink, it makes everything a little better. All you guys are so creative with AU ideas and I absolutely adore them! I might have to do a part 2 if anyone wants it! Hope you enjoy and thank you for the request!)
WARNINGS: implied noncon/dubcon, imprisonment, yandere behaviour/themes, misogyny, forced pregnancy, Evelyn's essentially Levi's slave and breeding machine, violence, degradation, attempted suicide, manipulation, mind breaking, forced marriage, etc.
================================================
Evelyn had never considered herself lucky. She had always had some terrible bout of misfortune following her. Whether it was the death of her parents, or her make barely passable grades in the Training Corps, or being peer pressured into the Scouts, she didn't know. But those were all manageable compared to the luck of joining the Scouts just as a new Captain was appointed.
One she got directly placed under. And she believed that his height had to go somewhere on the account of how big of a dick he was.
===============================================
Captain Levi quickly gained the reputation of being ruthless and unforgiving. If the smallest error in the code of conduct was breached the entire squad would suffer. Or even the whole division, it depended on if he got the perfect leaves to water ratio in his tea that morning.
However his record was impeccable and in the process of choosing the members of his squad they chose Evelyn. Probably because they believed Levi's strictness would whip her into a model soldier in no time. And not that she entirely minded the idea, the higher in the ranks she rose from a good record then maybe there was a chance she could push paper instead of corpses onto carts.
But she would shovel a hundred corpses to be placed under anyone but Levi.
She didn't know what made him hate her the most. But her legs were so sore from doing so many laps because she sneezed too soft or too loudly she needed to find some way to appease him. If that meant sucking up to him? Sure, if that meant borderline stalking him to find out what they could have in common? Of course. So long as she wasn't sucking him, she was happy.
================================================
Stalking seemed to the be thing she had to resort to since all other avenues were met with more punishment. She began to follow him around, take into accountability what was on his desk and what he liked to do, eat, or drink. Everything she could think of she tried. She was getting desperate to make a good impression at the cost of her morality. But it was worth it.
She seemed to be finding more and more about him, how he mysteriously bypassed the Training Corps, knew a lot about the military and knew who he had to rub shoulders with to get shot up to Captain so quickly. Apparently he had been on one or two missions tops, there was no way he could rise that fast. Her need for his favor morphed into suspicion and curiosity of what kind of man this was.
Her investigation came to a head when she following him home one night.
Levi had ducked into an alley, and while staying out of sight Evelyn overheard him talking.
"Send word to Marley. I've infiltrated their military as Captain. I have a small squad but I'll see if the Coordinate is in the ranks. Maybe at this level I can order him to come with me back home."
"And what of your cover? Has anyone suspected?"
A pause, probably a head shake. "No. Braun, and Hoover have seen to it that the Scouts don't know who I am. Leonhart is keeping the capital at bay in the MPs. I think we're close. After their failures I'm sure that through me they can redeem their embarrassment of careers."
"Very good sir. We'll be in touch."
Evelyn hurries to walk down the street when she hears footsteps approaching. Reiner and Bertholdt, they were in the newest Scout recruits, but were working together with Captain Levi? On what? And who was Marley? A division of politics? Maybe a terrorist group seeking to overthrow the government. Whatever the case she should report this to Commander Erwin, he'd know what to do.
"Cadet Glass."
Levi's voice halted her. Slowly she turned, meeting his gaze. It almost seemed disappointed with her.
"What are you doing out and about at this hour? You have a curfew."
"I'm sorry sir, I just- couldn't sleep."
"I see. You understand it's a punishable offence to be off of the grounds without leave, correct?"
She swallows. "Yes sir."
As he nears, Levi takes a hand and puts it on her shoulder, turning back to the direction she was walking. "Don't worry. You're not in trouble."
"Where are we going?"
"You wanted to get out didn't you? I'm going to buy you a drink."
Nervousness churns in her stomach. Did he know she was there? Surely not.
"I shouldn't-"
"I insist."
They continue to walk until he turns her down an alley, and before Evelyn can question she hears a metal thud before falling to the ground, the world going black as she stares at Levi's perfectly polished shoes.
================================================
When she came to, the pounding in her head was unbearable. Before her on a table was two aspirin and a glass of water. Behind that, Levi sitting in a chair, watching her.
"Captain-"
"Save it. I know what you heard. The question is how much."
"I don't know what you mean-"
"Don't play dumb with me devil. Tell me what you know and I'll let you go."
"I don't know anything! Let me go!"
She winces as the pain in her head worsens.
"Take those. They'll at least make you able to think enough to tell me the truth."
She hesitates, but takes them anyway. She needed them to think, but of how to reason with him instead of how to tell the truth.
"Now. I'll ask again. What do you know?"
"I know nothing."
"Continuing to lie are we? We'll see about that."
He stands, and she hears his belt buckle jingle, making her panic and stand to fight back. But as she's sure to hit him he's just out of reach. Her vision starts to go all weird and crazy and her mind spins. She doesn't even register him behind her, the pain, the fullness, the end.
Evelyn didn't even know what happened to her entirely save for the unending drip between her legs. She wanted to vomit, the world was spinning so much. She closed her eyes and then it just....stopped.

revelation ch24.
here we go man. whoof.
all right, so corrin & co are in anankos' castle now.
lights turn off, corrin realizes she's walked in a trap and then we get this sick cutscene of hoshidan queen mikoto, corrin's (biological) mother.
possessed, of course.
mikoto's cool as hell.
she also gets a raw as hell deal in fates considering the first time she meets her child way back in uhhh ch8?, corrin's still shellshocked from krakenburg/"losing" gunter/being re-kidnapped by hoshido. corrin's not in any state to believe a word she says. mikoto's actually much less pushy than the other hoshidans who are all 'sisterrrrr!!' and lets corrin have some space.
... and then mikoto dies right after.
little bit awkward when this is the first reaction from corrin when they meet again.
you see corrin's desperation of clinging so tightly to the idea that an anankos possession = loved ones aren't themselves at all. nice, easy, clean, still heartbreaking, but you can convince yourself to kill the person more easily by reducing them to a thing.
its a trick old as time.
(this also hurts a lot more when you think about the fridge horror of corrin not having any real consistent parental figures around her whole life.)
(except uhhh..... ahem.)
corrin tries to attack mikoto but then pulls back at the last minute.
..... oh hell.
ohhhh helllllllllll.
i just realized queen mikoto's a perfect halfway between garon/scarlet/arete and gunter in terms of possession mechanics.
garon/scarlet/arete - their will is not their own, once possessed. once possessed, they're essentially "dead" and genuinely only exist as a lifeless puppet. ironically, corrin's "i will not believe you" reaction is the healthiest for this type. they're gone. they ain't coming back.
mikoto - "even as a puppet of anankos, my spirit is my own". clear understanding she's possessed, and dies immediately after anankos' spirit leaves her, but she still has enough will to herself that she attempts to help out corrin verbally. this is when corrin's 'she's dead la la la' backfires on her terribly and the rug gets pulled under her in terms of 'oh shit i'm not prepared for this amount of emotional horror'
gunter - has his own mind/willpower to the point corrin could not tell he was possessed. straight up explicitly says there's no separation between him and anankos, and makes no attempt to un-blur that line or as to "when" anankos takes hold. corrin's reaction is.... well. we're getting there.
* now of course, if you've read the super secret JP-only line from the pelucid crystal artbook, you know that nintendo probably intended gunter's possession to "start" when garon force-fed him the dragon's blood before the northern fortress days. i actually am on the fence about incorporating that line in my interpretation of the character as imo i actually prefer his characterization without it - there's something about the idea of him being slo-owly tempted by anankos and not resisting that hits in a different way.
so ironically, mikoto's "different tier" of possession happening now is rather brilliant in that it's fates' subtly telling you 'hey hey anankos can influence people in different ways. heads up.'
this is important since in the FE series as a whole, possession is usually a very un-subtle 'somebody else jumps in the driver's seat and the old mind is booted out/killed permanently.'
there's a lot of fridge brilliance in a more subtle handling.
as we'll uh.
learn.
rather intimately ~~~
ch24's gameplay mechanics is an optional stealth mission where you can opt to take mikoto's advice that she says right after the above conversation (take the blue doors until you have to fight her), versus fighting your whole way through the level.
the fun stuff happens post-chapter.....

watched macross: do you remember love?
okay i literally just watched this movie bc i hated the show and wanted to watch the (better) sequels. it is a very well animated movie, with exquisite art and aesthetics. and really good mechanical and character designs.....
but it's also a total mess. a very, very sexist mess.
like man the gender essentialism in this thing is off the charts. it's also kind of a michael bay movie since it's about the cool military otaku guy getting hot chicks except it tries to say Something about women and men and like. it's bad
it doesn't help that hikaru starts bland and nicer only to become a slimeball and misa joins on his assholery later and there's roy whose entire character is hating women but wanting to fuck them and ughhhhhh. hikaru even falls in love with misa in a sequence where she literally stays in the kitchen and starts acting like a trad wife playing house and making fake food in the ruins of a town. it fucking blows. like i don't want to be too negative but this movie is just so mean.
but there's. one character. who is the highlight of it all. the one and only lynn minmay. she starts already tired and disillusioned with the idol business and mostly sees hikaru as a way to cope with her depression and escape the pain. being a normal girl from a small place, in a world too big for her. she's too naive to be with this guy she just met and she has been drafted far from home to do this idol gig and this is like. way too much for someone like her. she has a fling with hikaru...and then she gets kidnapped by aliens who force her to kiss her abusive cousin. and then she gets separated from hikaru and waits for him....while he starts cheating on her with misa when they both fall into the trad family delusion in a deserted earth. and when she meets them again they treat her like shit.they reveal he cheated on her, and don't even try to comfort her until it's time to use her singing as a weapon to stop the war. she says selfish stuff but she also just feels so tired, esp since she was made an ambassador for the galaxy during this. hikaru treats her coldly too. but then she swallows her pride, pulls her pants, and decides to sing with all her heart for the sake of the world and the family that she no longer has. she gave up her youth, an after this, dissappeared in the end and became an idealized image.....she's so tragic....
minmay was the only character who overcame the fantasy she wanted to live in at the start. bc hikaru and misa actually like, don't like each other that much, they just like the trad wife and husband fantasy they have with each other. but minmay, who initially wanted to use hikaru as a fantasy to escape her miserable life as a naive idol coming from nothing in an unknown place, actually grew up and moved on. choosing to live in reality, even if it's not perfect...she still sings.....
i don't think this arc of hers was like, intended? bc in the end it is played in the text as her having a tantrum. but like. the reframing of her character as being depressed from the start combined with the context of the tv show and HIKARU CHEATING ON HER makes her feel really sympathetic. in the end, everyone won and got to live their ideal lives but her. she's not a little girl anymore, but a woman who has to live in the real world. i do feel later shows noticed this and retroactively made her tragic but like. damn. the fact that she was supposed to be in the wrong, and that she was hated back in the day like, says so much about the era and type of show this is. truly rancid. i'm glad she got reappraised and reframed as a hero later on.....minmay deserved better.
sorry for the word vomit i just feel a lot for her. she was treated so badly in this awful, awful film. i came out of this really loving her character and i'm glad later stuff recognizes that she was sympathetic and influential but like. god, this is just too mean. too awful.

Honestly I definitely agree with all of your points. As much as I understand that certain things had to be rearranged in order to fit the different more condensed story telling medium, I’ve always found nami’s breakdown in particular to be a pretty perfect piece of storytelling in the way oda wrote the original progression. Emily Rudd does a fantastic job in the scenes and her acting is incredibly raw and emotional, but the buildup to her full on breakdown feels a bit less earned because of those skipped details on first watch.
That being said, I do think the detail changes in nami’s backstory actually retroactively explain the different choices she makes in earlier episodes, and when thinking it through, while I didn’t initially like the changes when I have the original to hold in comparison, I think they did a good job of making her story consistent instead of changing elements arbitrarily.
The nami we meet in opla is very subtly different from the one in animanga. In opla, she concocts the deal with Arlong of her own accord and joins his crew voluntarily, not because they kidnap her due to her cartography skills and later coerce her into making a deal like in animanga. There, under arlong, her treatment is essentially the same - forced to work for years on end to create maps - but this time I actually imagine the treatment is even worse on some levels because hachi is mysteriously not working with arlong in this iteration, potentially because of this version is even more cruel and uncaring (and gods am I so curious about that decision. You know it’s intentional. Hachi’s the only one that comes back later for goodness sake and yet he’s not here!!).
Since nami joined of her own free will, right in the middle of the village, it immediately alienated her from her people and especially her sister, who all know what she just did and have no reason or desire to hear out her side of the story. Does this make Nojiko’s tattoos out of place now? Yes. Do I desperately wish they had her wait until the after party to show up with the tattoos as a symbol of her sisterly bond to nami? Yes.
But regardless, nobody knows about the deal in the village. Nami has no friends, which she says many times in opla. Nor does she have sympathetic bumbling crew mates under arlong since hachi is missing. She’s even more starved for affection and friendship and trust than ever, and nobody has been cheering her on as she pursues this impossible deal to save cocoyashi village. It’s a completely thankless endeavor that she’s only been able to accomplish because she is one of the most stubborn and determined and driven people on the seas.
Enter: luffy (and zoro and usopp and sanji). Pirates that sure don’t act like pirates, and care about being kind and having fun and enjoying life. For the first time ever, nami is given a thrillingly intimate look at what it might mean to have friends, to chase her dreams, to be free. And unlike in animanga, her ties to cocoyashi are more tenuous and strained. Her care for the straw hats is rivaling her deal, and when zoro challenges Mihawk to the duel at the same time she had a chance to go back to her village and fulfill her side of the deal, free cocoyashi forever now that she finally had enough money, she chose to stay. Support her crew. Help nurse zoro back to health. Her return to arlong isn’t because of the deal. Hell, she tries to convince luffy to run away so that she can stay with them. She returns to arlong because she’s trying to save luffy’s life - fighting fishmen on the open ocean would mean a death sentence for her friends.
In this version of the world, I think nami came to the conclusion that the moment she “showed her true colors” by rejoining arlong meant that the straw hats would abandon her just like her village had. The village never cared to see her side, never tried to understand why she would join arlong’s crew - hell it’s even implied they never went looking after her when she vanished for years in arlong park where arlong had her chained in the map room, - because they believed she was a traitor. I think nami believes that to be true about herself, and believes she deserves to be treated this way, which is why she never tried to let anyone know about the deal and defend her actions. Therefore she thinks that the moment she turncoats on the straw hats it means that she’s going to give up her chance to stay with them forever because she will always betray the people she cares about. (What was it luffy says? “Nami needs to know she’s a good person”? Something like that) In opla, her breakdown is about arlong going back on the deal, yes, and it’s about the loss of years of work, yes, and it’s about the destruction of her village, yes, but it’s also because she betrayed the only friends she’s ever made and they’ll never trust her again now that she’s shown her true colors…and then luffy shows up and when she asks for help he agrees with no hesitation.
Ok so, I just wanted to kind of pick apart my problems with the Arlong Arc in the Live Action a bit. And I’m going to avoid the whole “needed more time/should have cut some of the marine storyline” complaint and just focus on the details that didn’t quiet work and were kind of baffling.
And I want to reiterate this before I get into it: I loved the Live Action. It was fun and goofy and the passion behind it was palpable. And this isn’t me going “argh, how dare they deign to change anything! I wanted a shot for shot remake! Argh!” No. I’m okay with changes. I love that all we get of Don Kreig is Mihawk humiliating and then killing him because god was he annoying in the anime. Least favorite arc I sat through. Nami’s one on one conversation with Kaya? Fantastic! I’m not even that big of an OP fan, but this kind of made me wish I was.
I just really love the Arlong Arc in the anime (horribly paced fights aside). It’s honestly the only arc I care this much about so I wanted to talk about this.
- Arlong’s Betrayal: Ok, so in the anime Arlong makes it very clear that he will let Nami and Coco Village go once she hands over 100 Million Berry. It’s made explicitly clear that he’s a fishman of his word and that he’d never go back on a deal involving money. And then of course he sends Nezumi to steal Nami’s money once she has it all. Ok. So that’s all pretty much the same in OPLA.
However, in the anime, Arlong does not immediately move to destroy the Village. In fact, when Nami comes charging in after realizing Arlong’s betrayal claiming he broke his word, his reply is “When? When did I go back on our deal exactly?” Because he technically didn’t! And instead of moving to destroy Coco Village, he tells Nami (to paraphrase), “guess you’ll just have to start over with stealing all that money because a deal’s a deal. Oh, and if you think about bailing then I’ll kill everyone in the village.” This way Arlong keeps both his chart maker and he gets to keep extorting the Village. This shows that Arlong is very cunning and slick, as well as a terrifying force.
But, in OPLA, that’s not the case. The fact that Arlong in OPLA is really just going to wipe out the village now that Nami got all that money is so wasteful. And if there was one thing Arlong wasn’t, it was wasteful. If he could use someone he’d do it, provided they paid his fee. Arlong in OPLA, while still a decent threat (the actor does give him some serious presence), he kind of comes across as an idiot.
- Nojiko/Village Knowing: In the anime, we find out very quickly that Nojiko did know about Nami’s deal with Arlong. Little Nami told her sister after they made it, and after Little Nami put on a big show of betraying the village so they wouldn’t go fight and die. The kicker is, when Nezumi comes to take Nami’s money, Genzo reveals that the village also knew about her deal, and pretended to hate her so that she wouldn’t feel bound to come back if she ever decided to leave, to escape Arlong.
Also, because Nojiko knew, she got her tattoos as a sign of solidarity. Little Nami talked about how she hated her tattoo and how it made her feel like Arlong owned her. So Nojiko, being the amazing sister she is, got her tattoos so Nami wouldn’t feel so alone. It was a symbol of their bond. Now in OPLA I guess she just… got tattoos… because they’re cool?
- The lead up to the breakdown: Okay, so this one kind of lends into the “they needed more time” category but also I just wanted to mention this. While I still say Emily Rudd gives the best performance in the series here (my opinion, don’t @ me) and I did feel emotions, I really feel like we needed just that extra smidge more.
We needed that moment where everyone is ready to fight and then Nami walks up, putting on the biggest, most fake smile, ready to absolutely throw herself onto a metaphorical sword again so that everyone she loves won’t run toward their deaths, only for Genzo to pull her into a hug and tell her “it’s okay. You’ve done enough. You’ve carried this burden too long by yourself. The least we can do is try to win our freedom ourselves now, and if we die then… hey, you’ll be free.” So when the Village ignore her pleas to stop and move to basically die, Nami finally just collapses because everything she worked for, everything she spent eight years trying to achieve was all for freakin nothing.
This moment more than anything shows who Nami is at her very core. And it just… doesn’t exist in OPLA.
- Rapid fire, minor complaints that don’t actually ruin anything but I did notice: It is really bizarre that they never say Bellemere’s name out loud. It’s on her grave marker but that’s it.
While I don’t think Nami should have been a baby when Bellemere found her and Nojiko, perhaps just a smidge younger?
The catalyst for the argument in which Bellemere slaps Nami after Nami says they aren’t an actual family. In the anime Nami says this because Bellemere has been skipping meals and only eating tangerines so that she can give all the food to her daughters. Nami’s guilt over that and the fact that she believes if Bellemere didn’t have to look after them she could afford to take care of herself leads into that fight and slap in the anime and it’s Genzo that tells Nami about Bellemere’s backstory after she runs away.
Could have used Nami denying help just a little more when Luffy stops her from stabbing her tattoo. Throwing dirt, telling him to leave, just this horrible last ditch effort before… “Luffy. Help me.”
#did I literally convince myself like I like the differences in opla nami in the process of writing this essay?#yes#truly the subtle characterization and plot differences are what makes me want to keep gnawing on opla like a dog bone#seriously though op you did voice exactly my original complaints that I had with their take#because goodness if I don’t adore animanga nami’s storyline to laugh tale and beyond#but all things considered I think they did a really good job of reimagining all of these disparate elements of her story#the story feels cohesive within itself#even if it feels like it contradicts the original in the minutia#honestly though it makes opla more exciting to me because then it’s actually new instead of just the same story retold exactly the same#opla#one piece live action#opla spoilers#one piece live action spoilers#long post#one piece

“Cruel twist of fate” Yan!Nanami x gender-neutral reader (Yakuza AU)
Summary: After having escaped from your criminal captor, you face a cruel twist of fate.
TW: toxic relationship, kidnapping, organised crime, gun, mentions of the police, threats, captivity, MATURE AUDIENCE ONLY/MINORS DNI
Word count: 1997
I do not condone any yandere behaviour in real life.
You knew that one day your lucky streak would come to an end. You had just hoped it would have stayed with you a bit longer.
“What are you waiting for? Take your stuff and hurry up!”, a male voice bellowed at you.
With a sigh, you took in the room in front of you for the last time. It wasn’t worth remembering, being a simple bedroom with just enough bits and pieces to make it radiate your personality. But it was finally something for yourself. No sharing, no pleading. Your little safe haven, that was now ripped away from you.
Mechanically, you moved forward to grab your essentials. The gun pointed at your back made you painfully aware of your lack of choices. Your blood ran cold and your muscles automatically stiffened at the thought of seeing his face again. You were a fool to believe you could have a normal and anonymous life.
Ever since escaping one of the most prominent Yakuza members through an undercover agent, who’d been infiltrating his clan for years, hope had resurfaced in your life. The mole had freed you from restrictive Tokyo and led you to your route to freedom, which ended up being Berlin. A police unit specialised in victims of organised crime had taken you under their wing, offering you protection from the Yakuza. That one year of freedom and peace had offered you a small taste of your former life.
Though it was a shame it got overshadowed by the bitterness of your fate.
The metal of the weapon kept uncomfortably prodding your back. Cold sweat clung onto your skin, demonstrating your fear. You tried to keep your breathing under control, but it turned out to be a challenge for you. How could you remain level-headed, knowing you’ll be brought back and presented on a silver plate to Nanami like a fine dish?
'Or a prey', you thought anxiously.
You spent too many years in confinement with this criminal, playing the dutiful (and enforced) role of the spouse, in order to not break down. Especially when one of your protectors turned out to be a betrayer.
Indeed, fate had a knack for irony. The man currently threatening you was actually a part of Nanami’s clan, pretending to be a police officer and waiting for the perfect opportunity to act. And just like that, your former method to freedom led you back into the arms of your captor. You repressed a sob at that thought, but didn’t manage to hold back the tears running down your cheeks. Your assailant grew impatient, jabbing you with the gun. Nervously, you returned to your previous task.
Once you had your necessary belongings, you mustered all your courage to talk to your aggressor. “I’ve got everything now”, you peeped, wondering if he even heard you.
“Good, let’s go now”, he grumbled, putting the gun into the pocket of his uniform and harshly grabbing your upper arm. You slightly stumbled as the man dragged you out of the room and into the corridor of the building.
Immediately, darkness enclosed the both of you, given the fact that it was already late at night. Normally, there would be another guard by your door, but about two weeks ago, the commission had deemed it unnecessary to have two of them protecting you. Hence, why you were alone now with your kidnapper.
You tried to struggle in his grip as much as possible as he motioned you outside. But your action only made him hold your arm tighter, making you wince at the bruising and painful force. You wanted to scream, hoping to grab anyone’s attention of the crime that was currently happening. He caught on to your intention quickly though. Suddenly, a hand forced its way on your mouth, effectively muffling any sounds. “Now, you don’t wanna do anything stupid, do you?”, he said in a low voice, the threat in it clear, “I can take out the gun again, if you like.” Quickly, you shook your head, the tears getting bigger. “That’s what I thought. Keep your mouth shut when I remove my hand.” And so you did, too scared to protest.
After a short amount of time, the two of you exited the building. Just like the inside, everything was surrounded by obscurity, only a few street lamps shed their meagre artificial light. You instantly eyed the black sports car parked on the side. Alarm bells began ringing in your head, your breath becoming laboured as your panic rose. “Get inside”, the man commanded with a stern voice.
“Who’s in the car?”, you asked him, though you were afraid you already knew the dreaded answer.
“You’ll see”, he responded curtly, lips pressed into a thin line.
“No, I don’t want to, I can’t do this-”, your struggle was cut off as he simply opened the door and forced you inside. The sound of the door being slammed shut equalled a knell to you.
Dreadfully, you turned to your side to face your nightmare.
And there he was indeed. Blond hair pushed back, dark eyes scanning your form, the ever serious expression adorning his face. Only his clothes had changed, opting for a classic suit instead of the traditional attire. From the rolled up sleeves, you caught glimpses of his dragon tattoo, revealing his rank in the Yakuza. You kept staring at him, too petrified to react. Compared to this man, every other fear of yours seemed to be childish.
Nanami wordlessly took in your sight, not a single sound leaving his mouth. You didn’t know if you preferred his silence over a string of insults or threats. Eventually, his lips turned into a small smirk, scaring you even further. Nanami uttered a single sentence, cementing your fear.
“Welcome home, darling.”
“Welcome home, darling”, you heard a male voice say. You tried to open your eyes, though the normally easy task turned out to be quite hard this time. Your head pounded like crazy and a wave of nausea washed over your body.
“Ugh,” you groaned, one hand grabbing your head while the other tried to lift you up from the bed, “damn migraine.”
Your efforts were nullified as a strong hand gripped your shoulder and pushed you back onto the soft mattress. “I think it’s best for you to remain there”, the voice stated matter-of-factly. Who was that again? You could swear you knew him, but in your dizzy state, you couldn’t figure it out. Eventually, your curiosity was stronger than your pain as you opened your eyes. To your luck, the room you were in was only lit by soft candlelight and a bedside lamp, making it relatively easy to adjust, despite your headache. Your gaze fell onto the man next you, his hand now stroking the skin of your shoulder through the fabric of your shirt.
“Nanami?”, you blurted out, your voice laced with confusion. What was going on? Why were you in an unknown bedroom with one of your regular customers from the bakery you worked in? “Where am I?”
The hand stopped caressing you as a look of sympathy blossomed on his face. “I’m aware my courting method is unusual, but I’m afraid my work doesn’t give me much of a choice.” Nanami proceeded to gently cup your face, softness swirling in his deep eyes. His little display of affection and his words only added to your bewilderment. Courting?
“What kind of job do you have so that you need to drag me here instead of asking me out on a date?”, you joked half-heartedly, your sleepy brain trying to cope with the serious situation through humour.
Instead of verbally replying, Nanami removed his hands from your face and rolled up one of his sleeves. Immediately, you spotted the colourful ink adorning his skin. The motive of his big tattoo was a dragon, created in a traditional Japanese art style. Your eyes widened at the implication of it. “You’re a member of the Yakuza?”, you asked, dumbfounded at this revelation. Nanami simply nodded at your statement, giving you time to adapt to the information. You palms became clammy at the prospect of being alone in an unknown environment with such a high-ranking criminal. Fear took hold of you as you felt your stomach drop. What were you supposed to do now? What exactly did he want from you in the first place?
“But why am I here now? I’m just a regular person. I don’t see the point of all of this?”, you inquired, voice slightly trembling, “And where am I exactly?”
Nanami let out a long sigh. “Don’t worry, you’re safe here. As I said, this is your home now.”
“But what-”
“You’ll see, my love.”
Using your full force, you tried to open the door. But no matter how much you pulled, it remained stubbornly close. A wave of panic hit you as the chauffeur started driving the car. You were truly trapped now. Defeated, your shoulder slumped and you pressed yourself into the seat, hoping to gain as much distance from Nanami as you could. Fearfully, you glanced at him from your uncomfortable position.
He cocked an eyebrow at your reaction. “Is that how you greet your husband after being separated for one year?”
“You’re not my husband, you’re my captor”, you mumbled, averting your gaze.
“I am your protector. Do you know what could have happened to you if you had fallen into the wrong hands?”, he replied. You could hear how his tone shifted, anger seeping out of his voice. Despite this, you decided to speak your mind.
“The only one I needed protection from was you, Kento.”
The Yakuza member’s jaw tightened at your statement, clearly displeased with your answer. “Now, darling, I haven’t travelled this far for you to say such cruel words. No matter if you see it that way or not, the fact stands that your life is in danger and only I can ensure your safety.” He tried to grab your hand from across the seat, but you quickly pulled it away from its place before he could succeed. The tension was literally suffocating.
“You ripped me away from my safe life!”, you started screaming, unable to contain your emotions. Your instincts warned you to keep your calm, but hot fury at the hypocrisy of his words already flowed through your system. “I didn’t need you to protect me! You could have just left me alone.”
Nanami took in a deep breath, trying to ease his nerves in order to not shout at you. No matter how angry he was - and angry he was - he wouldn’t initiate a screaming match. After all, he didn’t need to raise his voice to show his authority. “I won’t tolerate you questioning my ways. Everything I do for you is out of love, which is why-” His hand rapidly took hold of your wrist, this time managing to grasp it in a painful grip. You yelped and tugged your arm to escape his hold, yet to no avail. “I’ll punish you appropriately once we’re back in Tokyo. You’ll never even think of a foolish idea like running away again.”
The grip got stronger, further harming the tender flesh of your wrists. Frightened, you looked up into Nanami’s eyes, hoping he would take pity from your fearful expression. You only found determination in his face. “You clearly don’t understand the consequences you could have faced with your little getaway. That’s why I’m here to remind you about them.”
You let out a pitiful whimper at his words. You could only imagine what he’d do to you, the possible scenarios playing in your head already scaring you enough. Nanami guided your limp wrist to his mouth. To your surprise, he planted a kiss on the back of your hand all while staring intensely into your eyes.
“After all, I love you so much, darling.”
His tone didn’t convey any affection at that moment.

Bakugou Katsuki - Rising
So I told someone a while ago I’d be writing an essay on Bakugou’s lines from 284, and I’m keeping true to my word. If you’re wondering which lines, well my friend, these lines;
So this, to me, is one of the most emotionally packed pages of these recent chapters. For one, it shows us that Bakugou has always been watching Deku, the same as Deku has been watching him. Since they were kids, probably from the age of 4, Bakugou was able to tell Deku never thought of himself first, it was always what he could do to help and protect other people with no regard to his own safety or well-being.
“He’s always been like that.”
How would Bakugou know Deku has always been this way if he wasn’t paying attention to him? It goes beyond his bullying in Middle School, because he’s watched Deku stand up for other’s his entire life. The very first scene of the manga is Deku protecting a child from Bakugou and his group of misfits, despite being quirkless, and essentially helpless.
Despite being scared, and knowing he didn’t have the strength to take on those boys, he still stood his ground and did what he could to protect the other kid. Bakugou witnessed that first hand, since he was the aggressor. He was the one Deku was protecting someone from.
There was no way Bakugou wouldn’t remember something like that.
We know he remembered how Deku extended his hand to him when he fell in the stream, even though Bakugou was fine and didn’t need any help. Deku still waded through that water and even risked possibly getting himself hurt, to reach out to Bakugou and make sure he was alright.
Now, I am going to point out that the stream incident definitely happened before the scene of Deku protecting that boy since it’s evident they’re older in that scene, but it was presented first (literally the first panel of the entire manga), so it takes precedent.
Then we have the big one, which is the Sludge Villain incident, and Deku’s biggest show of self-sacrifice probably to date within the manga, since he was quirkless and would have certainly ended up dead if All Might hadn’t managed to power up. Even with the times he’s wrecked his body using OfA, he at least had some kind of fighting chance because of the power, but with the Sludge Villain, he had nothing. He was just throwing himself out there in hopes, by some miracle, he could do something to save his friend, even if it meant losing his life in the process.
Another instance of Bakugou witnessing firsthand the self sacrificial nature of Deku. Throughout the manga we’re given these instances, and the next big one is Bakugou’s kidnapping. Now, he didn’t see Deku’s fight with Muscular, but he did see the aftermath, he saw that ruined body running at him full force with no care to the damage done to himself, and even before that, he saw Shoji carrying him while Deku continued to plan out their plan of rescue, like his entire body wasn’t a crumpled mess.
Time and time again, Bakugou has been witness to Deku’s behavior, to this self sacrificial nature. The scene above is the first real time we see Bakugou acknowledge it. He tells Deku to stay back, he knows if he continues trying to fight looking like that, he’s going to die. I’ve seen other translations and I believe in the anime he says something to the context of “Don’t come, Deku.” Which, either way you look at it, it gives the same impression of Bakugou trying to protect Deku in that moment. Because he knew if there was an opportunity for Deku to reach, he would have fought until there was nothing left of him.
“And now that he can do so much more...”
This line is important because it is Bakugou acknowledging Deku’s current strength with OfA, but it is also his confession of worry because he knows who Deku is, and what this means for him. If Deku was reckless and willing to sacrifice himself when he was a 4 year old child with no quirk, well now that he has the strongest power essentially in existence, that means certain death. There is nothing stopping him from completely destroying himself, and we saw a brief example of that when Deku fought Muscular, though not even close to the level he was going at Shigaraki, and what Bakugou was actually getting to witness during this chapter and 285/286.
I use the above image because it kind of shows how bad off Deku was, which is far worse than when he fought Muscular, let me remind you. That scene is in chapter 285, after he’s essentially destroyed both of his arms hitting Shigaraki probably upwards of 10 times with 100% OfA.
Remember, Bakugou has been watching all of this from the ground.
“Something doesn’t feel right, it makes me wanna keep him at arms length.”
Well ya know, I don’t really blame you for feeling that way, Bakugou, I wouldn’t feel right if the kid I knew my entire life was willing to die at literally every turn without thinking for a split second about himself, either. It’s a little strange, but that’s what makes Deku the unstoppable force that he is, because he has the drive to save people no matter what. Now if he could master his power and depend on other’s, it would be even better, because then maybe he wouldn’t have to kill himself trying to protect people.
But seriously, that line shows Bakugou's uncertainty about getting close to Deku, because that kind of behavior is scary. It's intimidating. To just...throw your life away for the sake of someone else, that's gotta be scary to see someone do, and Bakugou has witnessed it over and over because of his closeness to Deku.
Now for the big one.
"Back then, I ignored my own weakness...so I ended up bullying him."
There's the kicker, folks. The real development we've all been waiting for.
I do want to point out that when Bakugo was 4, he didn't realize he had weaknesses like that. He was honest to God just a bratty kid that probably thought Deku was weird for caring so much about people despite, essentially, being useless to them. Because what could Deku do? Nothing. He couldn't help anyone because he was quirkless, but he still tried, and that's what affected Bakugou so strongly.
So strongly, in fact, that he never forgot it for a single second.
From 4 years old all the way up to 16 years old. 12 years. 12 years Bakugou Katsuki was witnessing Deku's self sacrificial nature. Again and again he watched as this boy who had nothing, continued to fight for something, and then he was granted power, terrifying power, and now Bakugou is left to wonder how the fuck any of this could have happened. Because if Deku had just stayed quirkless and accepted it, maybe, just maybe, he would stop that self sacrifical bullshit. Maybe he would see himself a bit more.
But then he was given OfA, and all of that hope was gone. Now he was given a power meant to take on the greatest evils and every person before Deku had died for the cause, so why would it stop with Deku, who was already ready to get himself killed to protect someone else when he was like 14 years old?
The scenes we have of Bakugou acknowledging Deku's behavior, and acknowledging his own behavior, it's such a raw scene. It takes a lot to acknowledge you've done wrong by someone else. It takes a lot of strength to sit back and recognize those ugly parts of you, and here Bakugou is, doing just that. And he isn't doing it for some self righteous get me off, either. He's doing it because he genuinely cares about Deku's well being, and he always has.
It never came out the right way, and he sees that now, but that doesn't mean the concern wasn't there. He just didn't know the right ways to express it, but as things have gotten more serious and now Deku is truly risking his life for this cause, he's come face to face with it. He can't hide from it anymore. The more OfA develops, the more Deku is going to put himself out there, and Bakugou isn't going to sit around while he kills himself when he could just learn to ask for help.
This stretches all the way into 285 and Bakugou's sacrifice, because he saw Deku about to end up seriously hurt or worse, and he knew he couldn't let that happen. Of all the years spent endlessly tearing himself apart for other people, Bakugou knew he needed to show the other in some way he didn't have to do it like that. He didn't have to fight alone.
That, and it was part of his atonement. It was a piece of his apology to Deku, to show him that he valued him, and he was willing to put his life on the line for someone, for him.
Bakugou didn't think when he rushed out to save Deku. It was instinctual, like breathing. He saw someone he cared about in danger, and his body moved on it's own. That, from the angry brat we get in chapter 1, is a beautiful showcase of perfect character development and growth. If you take into account everything I've discussed throughout this, it should be easy to realize or at least see a bit of Bakugou's perspective, and his thought process when dealing with Deku.
It never justifies any of his past behavior, but it gives us clarification, and then allows us to appreciate his thoughts and actions in 284 and 285 even more.

[CN] S2 Gavin and MC in Chapter 11 (Part One)
🍒 Warning: This post contains detailed spoilers from Season 2 🍒
I’m focusing on the interactions between Gavin and MC, not the plot (because the latter requires extensive time and effort that I can’t spare). So the less essential parts are in bullet-point form :>
Phone calls: First l Second
To investigate an issue related to pathological changes in Evolvers, MC heads to a hospital to talk to the director (who is a genuinely kind man)
While they’re discussing the issue, the alarm suddenly goes off, and two Evolvers barge into the office and bring them to the main lobby
Cutting the drama short: Five Evolvers have taken everyone in the hospital hostage. They don’t have weapons, and are subduing everyone with their Evol. The person leading them is a 43-year-old man called Yang Ping, who has a compression Evol. This means he can exert pressure on surrounding objects at will, and can even destroy a person’s organs
Yang Ping releases the Evolvers, but MC decides to stay because she wants to figure out his plan
MC notices a little girl crying, so she controls her own trembling and comforts the girl:
Girl: T-they suddenly barged in! And they said all of us would become hostages... and that they wanted to negotiate with the STF!
A man without a left hand offers the girl a tissue (this fact sounds really random but it’d make sense later!)
MC tells the girl not to worry because her boyfriend the STF will never lose to someone who isn’t on the side of justice:
MC: As long as that person is around, STF will never cower, and will definitely protect everyone’s safety.
The STF arrives at the scene, and Yang Ping uses a row of doctors as a meat shield while he negotiates with the STF
Gavin is in complete Commander Mode™:
Gavin: Your actions have amounted to “endangering public safety”. Release the hostages right now, and the STF will take this into consideration for leniency in punishment.
The moment I hear Gavin’s voice, I finally heave a sigh of relief.
He seems to be standing among a small formation towards the front. Even though I can’t see his face clearly, I know he’s there.
At this moment, it’s as though all the fear is gently pried open by a gust of formless wind, and the leaves outside sway slightly.
As though it’s saying - Don’t be afraid.
Yang Ping states that the recent series of Evolver assassinations and Evolvers going missing shows how they aren’t being protected sufficiently. He demands for the STF to promise to change the way Evolvers are managed, and to give them better privileges and protection. If the STF refuses, they’d start dealing with the hostages one by one
MC spots Gavin with his team, and thinks he can’t see her from where he is
The little girl starts crying again, and it annoys one of the kidnappers. MC is worried he’d harm the girl, so MC speaks up, admitting that she’s an Evolver and that she fully agrees with what Yang Ping said. She tries to reason that hurting a civilian would be ruining the entire plan because they’re the bargaining chips to negotiating with the STF. If any of the civilians were to be harmed, STF would never listen to their requests
The kidnapper recognises MC as a suspect of the assassination incidents, which makes MC think that there’s more to this kidnapping situation than merely waiting privileges and protection
After all, aside from a few people in STF, no one should know that she’s a suspect i.e. there might be a spy in STF PLEASE DON’T BE TANG CHAO LOL
-
Now, we switch to Gavin’s perspective of the same events
He has received surveillance footage of what's going on in the hospital, and is discussing the issue with Tang Chao and Eli while figuring out how best to get the hostages out...
All of a sudden, Gavin’s pupils widen slightly, eyes focused on one spot, and he freezes.
In the footage, after a stream of Evolvers have left, a girl remains at the same spot. She glances around her surroundings, then smiles as she says something to a little girl, and appears to be consoling the other party quietly.
At this moment, he feels as though his heart has stopped.
What’s she doing here?!
Gavin realises that his right hand is trembling. He clenches it into a tight fist, fingertips buried in his palm, silently turning white.
His mind is a complete blank. All he wants to do is rush in and bring the girl out safely.
Gavin closes his eyes, taking a few deep breaths. When he opens his eyes again, they are filled with an even colder aura.
The sound of his beating heart in his chest gets louder with each beat, as though questioning his forced facade of calmness.
He watches as MC talks to the kidnapper, and realises that MC is using this method to show that she has faith in him
At this point, a call from the “other side” tells him to give up on negotiations and rescue the hostages using force
But Gavin refuses because there’s still time to negotiate, the hostages would be put at great risk, and STF will only use force when truly necessary
The “other side” says it’s an order. So Gavin says that the STF will handle problems using its own ways and hangs up LOL
Tang Chao: Captain Gavin, no matter what you say, the Special Operations Team will only listen to your orders.
Eli: Same for the STF.
A chilly wind brushes the faces of everyone on the scene, but the trust and determination in their eyes remain resolute.
Eli: Also, we aren’t the only ones in this battle.
Gavin smiles, returning his gaze to the small figures in the footage. The girl is standing before the man firmly, reminiscent of a flower that can never be destroyed.
Gavin: She’s always been very brave.
The smile on his lips is abruptly tucked away. Gavin leans in closer to the screen, and sees that the girl is being brought closer to the entrance by one of the kidnappers.
--Every nerve in his body tenses up once again.
-
And we return to MC’s perspective
As the negotiations progress, Yang Ping tells the kidnappers to bring all the doctors back inside, except one
MC figures out that all this time, the real objective of the kidnappers is to test the STF
Gavin steps forward:
Ever since Gavin and I parted ways at the STF the last time, I haven’t seen him again.
Even though I’ve been asked to report my activities to STF at regular timings, Gavin has been very busy during this period of time, and I haven’t seen him much.
Looking at Gavin in front of me, it seems as though everything else in the world are kept outside a screen, and I can only see his eyes.
His hair is a little fuzzy, but he still looks unstoppable. It’s just that while his eyes have always been determined, they now carry an almost imperceptible worry.
I smile, wanting to tell him that I'm fine. Gavin’s gaze lingers on my face of a few seconds. When he sees my smile, he blinks, then shifts his eyes to the man.
The man and Gavin exchange glances for a few seconds. The corners of his lips simply tug upwards, pushing me around five metres away from Gavin.
Even though it looks like I’m a supporter whom he has incited, I know that I’m just another hostage.
Yang Ping gives Gavin a choice - If Gavin pushes that one doctor out of the window, the kidnappers will release everyone in the hospital and will turn themselves in. But if he chooses to save the doctor, he’d blow up the entire hospital
Basically, the kidnappers are trying to stir hate towards STF because no matter which option he picks, it’s going to cause public uproar
Gavin is quick to point out that the kidnappers haven’t directly hurt any of the civilians. Because they are representing Evolvers, they can’t hurt anyone or it’d give all Evolvers a bad name
Gavin, who represents the STF, has to find a perfect way to resolve this matter - no one can die, even the kidnappers
What he says are actually hints on what MC should do
MC gets it - she pretends to fall to the ground, and cuts her own arm with a dagger she’s hidden
The reason for this is because Yang Ping’s plan rests entirely on his status as “helping Evolvers”. If MC manages to show that Yang Ping would hurt Evolvers too, his plan would fail
While Yang Ping is shocked, Gavin rushes forward and flips Yang Ping onto the ground. The Special Operations Team rush out and arrest them using Evol-neutralising handcuffs
Gavin arrests Yang Ping:
Gavin: Evolvers and humans - neither will be sacrificed, including you. If you think there’s only a superficial peace and balance now, and that you can’t see normal civilians and Evolvers walking down a common path, just open your eyes and look. I’ll walk down that path.
It dawns on MC that she barely made it out of this situation alive, and she shivers. Then, she’s drawn into someone’s arms:
Lifting my head, I see that Gavin’s handsome eyebrows are scrunched up. His hand is holding bandages he took from the medics.
Gavin: You were supposed to pretend. Why did you actually cut yourself?
MC: Doesn't this have a greater impact? It’s more realistic.
He sighs slightly, holding my wounded arm gently and bandaging it meticulously.
Watching as Gavin leans over as he helps me with the bandage, the fear I had suppressed earlier suddenly pour out from my heart like a tidal wave.
MC: I won’t be this rash next time.
Gavin: There won’t be a next time.
When our eyes meet, I see the worry and earnestness in Gavin’s eyes.
MC: Okay, there won’t be a next time.
Thinking that the matter has been settled, MC waves at the hospital’s director from afar, and he smiles at her
A red dot suddenly appears on his forehead, and Gavin tries to rush to the director... but he’s too late, and the director is shot by a sniper... T^T
MC is dumbfounded as she takes in everything that’s happening - shrill cries from the crowd, the STF members who are once again on guard, and the director on the ground
Gavin kneels behind the director. Perhaps if he made it a second earlier, he could have prevented this tragedy.
The STF uniform, which has always been white, is now dyed completely red. There are specks of blood on his face, and droplets of blood roll down the sides of his face slowly.
He kneels in place, and doesn’t turn back for a very long time. The hands at his side tremble slightly, and he quickly balls them into fists.
After a long while, Gavin turns his head expressionlessly, looking at a shocked Yang Ping.
Yang Ping shakes his head repeatedly, muttering softly as he backs away.
Yang Ping: No... this isn’t right...
He stops backing away, as though something dawned on him. Then, he suddenly bursts out laughing.
Yang Ping: ...looks like the people from GRAY RHINO are even better.
In the next second, the sound of a gunshot once again fills the air.
Yang Ping is standing in position, and I watch as blood spatters from his temple.
His eyes are wide open, is in a daze for a moment before toppling to the ground.
Another patch of crimson spreads on the ground. Yang Ping’s twitches slightly, as though saying something, yet no sound comes out.
His eyes remain open till the end, staring at Gavin.
I’m in a state of shock as I take everything in, and feel unsteady on my feet.
An incredibly icy aura exudes from Gavin’s body. He stands up slowly, like a silent volcano.
Gavin: Who was it... who fired the gun?!!
I seem to hear something which had been crumbling finally caving in.
-
MC gets home somehow and falls asleep LOL same
At the STF office, the Special Operations Team are gathered and there’s a really heavy atmosphere in the air
Tang Chao verifies that the bullet that shot Yang Ping wasn’t from the STF’s sniping team. Another member pipes up and adds that even so, it belongs to STF
Gavin asks for further details, but another officer reports that there are no leads. There’s a possibility that an Evolver did it
Gavin orders them to investigate properly
And sounds really fierce (つω`。)
Afterwards, Gavin walks along the street and some random man without a left hand steps out of an alley and greets him with: “Captain Gavin, this is the first time we’re meeting.”
-
By the time I’m roused awake from the heavy downpour, it’s already late at night.
With a sigh, I get up from the sofa and decide to draw the curtains.
Large droplets of rain continuously pelt onto the ground. I stare outside the window in a daze. When my eyes focus, I see a familiar figure downstairs.
MC: ...Gavin?
Taking an umbrella, I rush downstairs. Gavin’s profile enters my vision -- and my heart is tugged.
I have no idea how long he’s been standing in the rain, and his entire self seems to be soaked in it.
The rain has soaked his entire body. Drenched hair sticks to the sides of his face, water droplets continuously sliding off his chin.
The STF uniform is in a mess, sticking to his body. The organisation’s emblem on his chest has been washed till it has lost its metal shine.
I step out of the apartment building slowly, rain pouring down.
I suddenly recall the night he spent accompanying me in the rain a very long time ago.
--it’s as though he’s lost his drive, removed all his defences, and it gives one heartache and sadness.
I have no idea why Gavin is standing here right now, but across the curtain of rain, I seem to once again see that careful heart.
Gavin seems a little surprised by my appearance. His unfocused pupils constrict slightly, and his shoulders tremble imperceptibly.
Gavin: ...why aren’t you asleep?
MC: ...if I were asleep, were you planning to stand in the rain for an entire night?
I walk over slowly, lifting the transparent umbrella over our heads. Rainwater patters against the surface of the umbrella, becoming the only sound in this silence.
Gavin doesn’t speak. His eyes, which have always been shining with light, seem to be layered with the colour of the gray clouds overhead, and an unspeakable dullness.
There’s neither grief nor anger in them. All that’s left is helplessness.
Very slowly, his lips finally twitch slightly, breaking the silence.
Gavin: Aren’t you going to ask?
MC: Nope. If you want to talk, I’ll listen and resolve the problem with you. If you don’t want to talk, I’ll keep you company as we stand here, then...
Gavin: Then?
MC: Trust you.
I smile as I reach out, brushing the drenched fringe in front of his forehead, revealing his beautiful amber eyes.
MC: No matter what happens, I’ll always trust you.
Gavin’s eyes widen slightly. The hands beside him are clenched into fists, trembling slightly.
Gavin: ...you once said that every single one of my bullets are for justice. If you were to find out that perhaps I can’t really do that...
Gavin: ...what would you think?
I’m stunned.
Gavin’s voice is faint, a solid darkness hidden in his words.
His entire self seems to be encumbered by a layer of thick sheet of iron. His back is straight, as though waiting for a final judgment.
MC: I’d look for the truth behind it.
Gavin purses his lips and doesn’t say a word. But I know that he’s waiting for my answer solemnly.
MC: Even if there was really such a bullet, I’d want to further verify why that bullet strayed from its course. And whether, at that point of time when the situation happened, there was really a violation of justice?
Gavin watches me quietly, and I smile as I look at him.
MC: No matter what reason you had for standing there, and for shooting that bullet, you would have done so based on what you saw, heard, and the result of thinking. And I believe in it, and I believe in your judgment at that point of time. That bullet definitely has its meaning.
I say these things instinctively, hoping to give him even the slightest bit of support and courage.
The dim streetlights meld into the water droplets, reflecting into Gavin’s eyes.
The rain gradually lightens. The air Gavin breathes out turns into a white patch of mist in the air.
Gavin: I’ll find the truth behind this matter. I can’t use “I don’t know the true state of affairs” as an excuse. If it’s something I’ve done, I should take responsibility.
Gavin takes the umbrella in my hand, his eyes carrying with them resoluteness and certainty.
Gavin: I don’t want to fail to live up to your trust, but I... have to face up to the truth. To give you, and to give those who no longer have a voice, a genuine explanation.
-
Two days pass after that rainy evening
Even though MC doesn’t know what Gavin is up to, she can tell that it’s something important and dangerous
She’s at STF to give her regular report, and Gavin walks into the room. His eyes are bloodshot, and he looks thinner and more pallid, and she knows that he’s been working very hard to live up to that promise
I think of comforting him, wanting to tell him not to overdo it, and to take care of his health.
However, the moment I open my mouth, all my emotions morph into a dry greeting.
MC: Gavin, have you been really busy lately?
Gavin doesn’t respond. He simply places his palms on the table between us, his expression solemn as he comes closer to me.
Gavin: Are you investigating the Evol assassinations?
MC: Of course. I’m still a suspect, so I need to think of ways to clear myself of suspicion.
Gavin: This matter could be even more serious than you imagine.
Looking at Gavin’s somewhat resigned expression, I smile.
MC: Things have already reached this stage. What could be even more serious than this? Don’t worry, I know what I'm doing. But are you going to do something dangerous again? You’ve got to take care of yourself. If you need my help, just say it. After all, I’m Nox from Black Swan!
I deliberately use a light-hearted tone, and the corners of Gavin’s lips tug upwards as well.
Gavin: Proudly saying that you’re from Black Swan in the STF - you don’t want to leave, do you?
MC: ...
I freeze. Only when I see the teasing glint in Gavin’s eyes do I realise that he’s toying with me.
At the same time, I release a sigh of relief. At least Gavin is still in the mood for jokes.
Gavin: To be honest, what I need to do is indeed very dangerous, and I need more people whom I can trust completely. With your help, my investigation will definitely progress much more smoothly.
He lifts his head to look into my eyes directly. The light in his amber eyes reveal trust and sincerity.
I’m left astounded. Receiving such an invitation from Gavin for the first time makes my mind lag a little.
MC: Gavin, what you're saying is... that you’re letting me help you?
Gavin: You didn’t mishear.
The faint scent on his body fills my surroundings. In my trance, I even think that a gentle breeze brushed my cheek.
Gavin: ...of course, from my personal perspective, I wouldn’t want you to be involved in such matters. So, you’re free to reject.
MC: Why would I reject! I’m really happy to be of help.
Gavin stares deeply at my smiling face. After a long time, he reveals a somewhat relieved and resigned smile.
Gavin: Thank you, MC.

Annie Runs Away (Again).
Annie has suddenly decided she’s a pacifist. Annie is leaving on a journey of self discovery. Perfect timing. You take all the time you need. It’s not like the world’s ending or anything.
Just kidding. Annie’s not actually acting any different than she usually acts. I’ve said this before, but Annie and Armin are characters who continually exhibit regression rather than development. If you remain the same person more or less throughout the story, that’s not suddenly going to change without impetus. You’re always just the same person, even at the end of the world.
An analysis on Annie and Armin’s failings under the cut. How they parallel Eremika, and why they can’t get close.
1. But That’s None of My Business
Let’s bring out my handy dandy Want / Need chart again.
Want
: something your character desires, because they believe it’ll improve their happiness.
Need
: the lesson they need to learn to overcome their inner struggle and achieve true happiness.
Annie has run away again and again throughout her entire arc.
Annie’s a survivalist. Her own life comes before anybody else’s. When the chips are down, Annie will always choose to run away and protect herself. When things get hard her response is essentially to find some way to escape, and insist that the ongoing conflcit has nothing to do with her therefore there’s no reason for her to be personally invested.
The entire tunnel scene is symbolic for this. All Annie had to do was make a choice to confront what she had done. She had to choose to walk into a situation that would be unsafe and even potentially compromise her.
There was a chance, but Annie can’t even walk into a situation where she’s potentially unsafe. She can’t handle any confrontation. Annie, who is capable fo turning into the female titan, and easily can beat up men twice her size, and yet ultimately that physical strength means nothing because Annie is a self serving coward.
We know the reason why Annie is like this. It is a pretty good reason. Her father told her that the most important thing above all else was her own survival. Annie was raised like a child soldier, to her all she has is her strength, and her promise to reunite with her father. If one fails, if she’s not strong enough to fight her way out of a situation she falls back to the other and runs. That’s why Annie as a person is both strong, and incredibly weak, she can’t even stand the slightest confrontation.
Annie says she doesn’t care about being a good person, but she also gets tripped up and coerced by Armin’s words that he’ll think less of her. Annie says she will kill anyone on this island to survive, but she fails just because she spared Armin. Annie is wavering back and forth. She’s contradicting herself constantly, and that’s because Annie doesn’t want to think about who she is or what she wants. Her entire identity is found in running away, and running back to her father, and Annie never tries to be a person outside of that.
What do you call soemone who blindly follows what their parents told them to do, and is unable to make decisions of their own outside of listening to their parents?
A child.
The words of Annie’s father have kept her alive until this point, that’s true. However, treating the whole world as her enemy, as something to run away from, has stopped her from connecting to another person and giving her what she needs to grow up. You don’t grow and learn by doing the same thing over and over again. The same ideas that let her survive are now holding her back.
What Annie thinks she wants is to be left all alone. She gets exactly that when she’s crystallized, and it only makes her worse. She is protected from everyone, nobody is able to harm her, she doesn’t have to interact with anyone and she becomes completely helpless.
Annie’s path forward relies on confronting the people she’s been avoiding. However, Annie has only ever known avoidance.
What Annie thinks, is that she doesn’t have to care about other people. However, she contradicts herself because Annie clearly does care. If she didn’t care she wouldn’t have spared Armin. If she didn’t care she wouldn’t let Armin’s condemnation of her actions get to her. It’s not that Annie is a good or bad person, it’s that Annie doesn’t even want to think about if her actions are right or wrong, she doens’t want to have any kind of confrontation at all so she runs away.
Annie’s arc has always come about by her realization that there are other people who exist besides her in the world, and who have other wants and needs outside of her. If Annie was truly capable of living alone she would have just stayed in the crystal after all this time, but she obviously hated that.
The only way Annie can move forward is if she gets closer to other people, but she can’t do that if she’s running away from them. I’ve said this again and again, the micro informs the macro. Characters decisions on a micro-level have greater consequences in story. Annie is not able to rise to the occasion, because of her personal weaknesses, namely that she can’t be close to other people.
Once again we have Annie insisting that she just doesn’t have anything to do with this. Annie is someone who is perfectly capable of fighting, and strong in some ways but weak in others. Any time she has to confront something, she always chooses to avoid instead and runs away. It’s not because she can’t do anything, but it’s because she doesn’t want to have to face the conflict.
Annie will always try to run away and be by herself because that’s what she thinks she wants, when what she needs to do is grow up and learn to be her own person outside of her father’s words for her. Like. She even says she wants to die peacefully. As if she’s accepted death rather than trying to struggle to live. Which is why she even physically runs away from Armin, the one person whose closest to her.
Armin is the one person who has consistently challenged her to be a good person. As long as she’s far away from Armin, Annie doesn’t even need to think about whether her actions are good or bad. However, being quiet and being at peace is just what Annie thinks what she wants because if that was really the end result of her arc she could have just stayed in the crystal forever.
2. EreMika Parallels
Armin and Annie mean a lot to each other. Armin is Annie’s connection to her own humanity. Annie saved Armin once and because of that her life has been forever changed since that moment. Armin is the person who looks up to Annie, and sees the best in her and even challenges her to be a better person than she was previously. Armin sees Annie better than Annie even sees herself. Does this sound familiar? it’s like a parallel. It’s intentional.
Mikasa has always seen the good in Eren. She’s seen the kind little boy who wrapped a scarf around her on a cold day, and gave her the strength to fight. Eren is always stopped and hesitates when confronted with the memory of the scarf because Mikasa represents his connection to other people. It’s his memories of Mikasa who always opposes him when Eren insists he’s a terrible person that’s going to destroy the world.
Mikasa sees the good in Eren. However, their relationship is a complex one. Mikasa has, time and time again, enabled the bad in Eren because she has difficulty looking at the whole picture.
Mikasa has enabled Eren’s bad tendencies. This is because Mikasa is so codependent on Eren, and so paralyzed by the idea of losing him she’s too afraid to confront him. Annie and Mikasa are both characters who despite their tremendous strength, they can’t seem to whether the simplest interpersonal confrontation.
Mikasa and Eren have both at some point in the story saved each other. Eren saved Mikasa from the kidnappers. Mikasa told Eren that he was accepted and loved at his lowest point when confronted with the Dinah Titan again, and he promised to wrap the scarf around Mikasa again.
However, they also both have the tendency to ruin each other because Mikasa enables Eren’s worst qualities. She could push Eren to be better, but she’s too fixated on the idea of Eren rather than confronting who Eren really is as a person that she’s unable to do anything to stop Eren until it’s far too late.
Armin and Annie are too people who could just like Eren and Mikasa, challenge each other to be better people. Eren’s flaw is his independence, Mikasa’s flaw is his codependence. It’s gender reversed in Aruannie, Armin’s flaw is his codependence and Annie’s flaw is her independence.
The problem with Annie and Armin is ultimately they both tend to be very cowardly people. When they interact they have the potential to make each other braver, or they can run away from each other.
Let me elaborate quickly on Armin. If Annie’s tendency is to always do what she wants, then Armins’ tendency is to always try to do what other people want. That’s not as selfless as it sounds though because, Armin wants to put all of his decisions on other people.
Think about the conflict with Connie. If Armin had just told Connie no, or asserted himself as a leader, he could have just avoided Connie kidnapping Falco all together.
Armin doesn’t want to make choices though. Armin will do anything to put the choice on other people. He physically put the choice on Connie, by just throwing himself into a suicide and forcing Connie to decide to save him.
Armin believes that he himself is insufficient. There’s a theory going around that Armin is the main character of the story, but even if that is true: Armin does not want to be the main character. Armin will do anything to avoid being the main character of his own life. Part of the reason Armin puts Eren on such a pedestal is because if he treats Eren like the main character, then Armin himself is spared from making a decision.
Annie doesn’t want to think about other people. Armin spends so much time thinking about other people that his own will gets lost time and time again. Eren continually putting responsibility on others and relying on others around him when everyone needs him to take responsibility and step up is his own version of running away.
If part of the reason that things got this bad, was the total failure of leadership. Everyone acting powerless. Floch even says humanity needs a devil to lead it immediately after he creates the situation that kills Hange, and puts Armin in charge once more.
If Annie’s first instinct is to always run away to protect her own life. Armin’s first instinct is to always throw himself away in some kind of suicide plan. However, this creates far more dififculties than it actually solves. Reiner even yells this at him, how would it help for Armin to throw his life away in a sacrifice at this moment to buy time if he was there best chance against Eren.
Floch believes that humanity needs a demon to lead them. This is an idea that’s been built up since the death of Erwin. It’s not Eren who is the demon however, it’s Armin.
However, just as Annie consistently runs away when she’s cornererd. Whenever Armin has to act responsible for other people he always reacts by saying he couldn’t possibly live up to Erwin’s legacy. But that’s just the same behavior. That’s just running away. Annie values herself too highly over other people. Armin sees himself as expendable and much lower priority therefore refuses to step up to any responsibility placed on his shoulders, or make decisions he can put off onto other people. It’s different motivations but the same behavior, consistently running away from each other.
This is something they both do, and they can either confront this behavior in one another or they can run away from it.
If Armin had challenged her to stay and fight Annie probably would have stayed. he didn’t so she didn’t. Armin calls himself a bad person who has killed comrades, but he doens’t really want to make the decisions that Erwin made and so he avoids that.
In order to get closer, Annie and Armin would both have to confront themselves and admit things about themselves they don’t really want to think about. Which is why Annie runs away, and Armin lets her. Annie could challenge Armin to be better and call him out, but Armin doesn’t really want that fight right now. It’s something they would have to work on in order to be closer. How can you expect two people to be close, if they are continually running away from each other?
AruAnnie, and EreMika are two completementary sets of people with similiar flaws that could help each other or ruin each other, and right now we’re seeing the regression and not the development.

(This is the second of a three-part series chronicling the story, concepts, and original Pokémon that appeared in a Dungeons and Dragons campaign I worked on for several months. This entry will be more focused on a lot of my original designs and how their encounters would play out, rather than concrete story. Also, much of the art was done by @extyrannomon on Twitter, and I suggest you check them out.)
Dungeons ‘n’ Dragonites - Phase 2: Ultra City
The Queen Durant would prove to be a difficult foe, able to use all manner of elemental attacks to strike from a distance to compensate for her low speed. Furthermore, she would have full command of the Duranthill, using her followers to guard herself. As the battle rages, the team slowly begin to evolve, and their newfound strength and Types, along with the aid of the Princess, would have them see victory.
I was unsure as to the ultimate fate of the Queen. Either having it disappear into the tunnels alone, or be sucked into another Ultra Wormhole like the Poipole. And with the Queen vanquished, the Princess would choose to become partner to whoever she felt most worthy (a combination of good role playing and damage dealt).
I designed every Pokémon in this campaign under the pretense that it could actually exist. The Queen and Princess fall under the category of “Rare Variants.” There’s only one queen in a colony of thousands of ants, so it makes sense for it to be rarely seen. They’re still Bug/Steel, but special attackers, with the three spheres on each of their abdomens made to mimic the pattern of Tri-Attack, symbolizing their ability to use those Types.
As for the Starter evos, Flymph has evolved into Epipesis, gained the Electric-Type, and become a full Dragonfly. Calfyre into Steared, staying mono-Fire, but growing considerably (4 feet at the shoulder, the largest mid-stage Starter). Squisque into Knaval who’s now Rock, because he’s a rock lobster! And Utaw into Uteteo who may still be pure Fairy, but has gained some gold adornments.
=====
My working title for this campaign was “Ultra City.” Hinted at by the appearance of the Poipole early in the game, my intentions would come into full swing during this portion, with boss encounters against many of the known and some unknown Ultra Beasts. I had a few encounters planned, from a pickpocket Pheramosa that they’d fight in a mall store room full of mannequins, to a Blacephalon that had kidnapped several children, hypnotized them, and had them watching his performances, to a beach episode where there’s just a Buzzwole hanging out and not causing trouble.
Things would take a twist when a Guzzlord would take over the abandoned district, raining destruction down from its highest building. The crew would have to climb a multi-floor dungeon in order to battle it, many scared and aggravated Pokémon blocking their paths. After reaching the top however, after initiative had been rolled, a mysterious Pokémon would descend from the sky, felling Guzzlord in a single strike...
Majra, the Dragoon Pokémon (a slurred portmanteau of Magic and Dragon). A Dragon hunter with a unique ability, “Hunter of Evil,” that removes all its resistances but makes it immune to Dragon, Dark, and Ghost. This Pokémon came about as I was trying to create a dramatic encounter that would interrupt an expected one. As I was thumbing through DnD and fantasy ideas, the idea of a Dragoon who furiously hunts Dragon-Types came to mind. Ice/Fairy seemed the perfect combination, and the sentient suit of ice armor fell into place soon after. As Pokémon don’t typically hold weapons, I made him part scorpion, having him hold his tail as a workaround, and also informed how his extremities would look. The Haxorus skull buckler also helped drive the Dragon hunter aspect home.
Ultra Beasts were the second category of original Pokémon in my campaign, and encompass all purely original Pokémon (including the Starters). However, I didn’t want to just haphazardly make a ton (as commissions cost money), so I gave myself the condition that if I made an Ultra Beast it had to play with weaknesses and resistances in a way to trip up experienced players, hence Majra’s ability.
Majra would not attack our players in their first encounter, unless someone was using a Type he hunts. He would be a reoccurring boss character, helping or hindering the players depending on their enemies or allies.
The next unique encounter would have been a tutorial battle against another Rare Variant, a Shiinotic possessed Parasect. Every boss encounter is technically 4-on-1, so I wanted to give a Pokémon a reason to have multiple turns, and fused or symbiotic Pokémon felt like a naturally occurring way to have that happen. I created this Shiinotic as a way to teach the players how these Pokémon work.
As Shiinotic is a bio-luminescent mushroom, I wanted to have Parasect faded in color from its light. I also thought it’d be a nice touch to have Shiinotic’s spindly fingers act as puppet strings to move Parasect’s arms around. It would have been encountered after a swarm of scared Paras started flooding out of the sewers near everyone’s school.
Then would be Fortifiend, who would be encountered a few times as an easily circumventable castle wall in the middle of the street before Majra would eventually attack it, forcing our players to take a side in the battle (with Fortifiend possibly joining them if they help it). His ability would make all attacks not very effective while it had over 50% HP, and the opposite when under 50%. Despite the name, I pictured him being very nice, and giggle whenever he heard someone compliment his stone structure.
I imagined that the world he came from had naturally occurring stone structures similar to him, and his folded castle form was a sort of net to help him catch large prey; partly why he doesn’t attack the smaller people and Pokémon of the game’s dimension (he’s around 30ft tall). He could be encountered anywhere, so he wasn’t a full quest; just a fun “what the heck is this” moment to confuse players.
Also, while it wasn’t purposeful, Fortifiend and Majra both also matched the DnD aesthetic. That definitely helped them stand out as some of my favorites, and Fortifiend barely missed the final pass for the last round of commissions.
Then was the twin encounter of Feyerre, a Fire-Type igloo and snowmobile Pokémon, and Eyescse, an Ice-Type pyramid and four-wheeler Pokémon (probably the most Ultra Beast-esque concepts I came up with). They would be messing with the weather across the city, causing disturbances until the players eventually found one of them, in when the other would appear. Their ability would flip their weaknesses and resistances, and they would have an attack that could do the same to a target. And fun fact: there’s meaning to the color and number of their eyes! Feyerre’s are F.I.R.E (Fire=Red, Ice=L.Blue, Rock=Brown, Electric=Yellow), and Eyescse’s are I.C.E (Ice=L.Blue, Sea=D.Blue, Electric=Yellow).
But their defeat would incur the wrath of a mysterious Pokémon they had encountered a few times:
“As you turn around, you see a grey Charizard standing there. It stares at you for a moment, wide-eyed and unblinking. Then it begins to open its mouth, wide, wider, and wider still, stretching beyond what should be possible. Then a hand reaches out of it...
“Suddenly you’re falling. The lights and sounds of countless unknown worlds whir past you incomprehensibly as you plummet through time and space. You try to close your eyes to shut out the flurry of stimuli, but it’s impossible to drown out as your minds begin to feel the strain of the void. Then, after what feels like hours, time seems to stand still as the heavy rain of an unknown world hits your face. For a brief moment you are able to take in the desert that surrounds you before a flash of lightning illuminates the sky, revealing a titanic silhouette looming above you before you are once again thrown into darkness. And as you come to outside the warehouse (where you encountered Feyerre and Eyescse), in the distance, you hear what sounds like laughing.
“Fofofofofo...”
The final original encounter I had planned for Stage 2 was Meadew. It would have been wandering the city, spawning grasses and flowers wherever it went. However, while beautiful, the sudden growth would be causing havoc and destruction to all the buildings and vehicles it could root into.
Unlike the other Ultra Beasts, Meadew’s ability didn’t affect its weaknesses, but instead created Substitutes since I wanted a way for it to form its own adds (the concept behind its inception). However, it wasn’t without a Type gimmick; rather than an ability it has a signature status move called “Radiance” that raises its attack and special, as well as give it the Fire-Type, making it Grass/Water/Fire (the 3 Starter Types). It would invoke this after its adds were defeated, but could be talked down through diplomacy, unlike some of the other encounters.
=====
I’ve mentioned Rare Variants and Ultra Beasts, but there was a third Type of original Pokémon that could appear: Mutant Evolutions. Essentially, evolutions like Probopass or Leafeon where being in an energy charged area or coming into contact with a huge ore deposit (what I interpreted the Mossy and Icy Rocks as, since they became Leaf and Ice Stones in later Gens) could force an unusual evolution in a Pokémon already shown to be susceptible to unique evolutionary conditions. Due to a future encounter, I already knew there would be large Metal Coat and Ice Stone Ore deposits in the mountains to the north, so I wanted to do some test prototyping using each of those items, whether I used those evolutions or not.
Poliwhirl is already shown to be capable of multiple evolutions, all of which use items, so I thought having it come into contact with a massive amount of Ice Stone Ore (since it should be chemically similar to Water Stones) could force a Mutant Evolution. This is Policuti, from the Latin Cutis meaning skin, and Poli-Cutis would mean “multiple skins,” as it wears the shed skin of preevolution. And being freshly shed is why its skin lacks pigment. It’s just a cute little frog in a raincoat! Also, the swirl on its jaw is actually its tongue.
Since Magneton evolves into Magnezone through being electrically charged, I thought about how it might evolve if charged with Steel energy. I imagined it being magnetically attracted to the Metal Coat Ore, fiercely trying to pull itself away, being stretched and elongated in the process, resulting in the bullet train Pokémon Magneline. The Mutant Evolutions weren’t supposed to be anything important to the story or that they’d run into in the wild. They were more so surprises to excite the players who would be expecting something, well, expected. I had considered doing at least one for each player if they caught a compatible Pokémon, but as no teams were filled out, I was merely left with my prototypes. The only reason I had these two commissioned was because I was very happy with their designs.
=====
As we reach the end of Stage 2, the reoccurring group of rowdy Onix would return once more. Following them deep into their tunnels, our heroes would come across a massive chamber with a giant metal stalagmite and frozen stalactite in the center of it. The Onix would then appear, twisting around them, forcing their evolutions. One into Steelix, and the other into Glacix...

Another gallery exhibition.
Another evening gown, another diamond necklace.
Another night of smiles and laughter and glasses of champagne and a possessive grip on her waist while her legs threaten to buckle beneath her.
She almost thought that the people attending this party, these that wanted ‘raw and primitive’ photos, would look a bit more primitive themselves. But no, they’re indistinguishable from the last group, all sharp tuxedos and beautiful gowns and elegant socializing. The thought that there are so many people out there who like this kind of thing, who will pay so much money just to see these messed-up photos of her, makes her dizzy.
Though perhaps that’s just the lack of good food and sleep. Her mind isn’t processing well enough to tell the difference.
It never helps that she’s finally faced with the product of her torment, all over the walls and impossible for her to ignore.
A close-up of her face, bruises painting her cheeks, pupils blown wide and metal glinting across her throat.
An artistically angled shot taken from the floor up at her bent, straining body, shoulders contorted backwards and on the verge of dislocation.
Her figure huddled in a tiny ball in the shadows, face half-covered by a black blindfold and red headphones...so, he was taking pictures while she waited in that corner.
Every direction she turns brings back another, unwanted memory. Ellery wants to scream, to cover her ears and shut her eyes and make it all disappear. She’d even be happy going back to her tiny basement cell if it meant not having to see or hear any more of this party.
Throughout the evening she hears so many people complimenting Lucas on how ‘realistic’ the photos are, quizzing him on how on earth he manages to create such effects. Others seem less naïve, approaching him with knowing smirks and gleams in their eye, casting obvious glances up and down her body as if they still haven’t been satiated.
At the first exhibition she had been blown away by how so many people could be so blind. Now she’s beginning to wonder how many of them actually are.
All of it - the stress, the pain, the sorrow, the hunger and exhaustion - just keeps building, an unending pressure behind her eyes and underneath her ribs. She’s on the verge of either bursting into tears or exploding into tiny pieces when another man approaches them.
His hands are empty of champagne, unlike most, and instead of immediately turning on all the charm for Lucas, his brown eyes lock onto her with the smallest of smiles.
“You’re quite the beautiful model. May I know the name of the lady who made these intriguing portraits?”
“This is Sarah,” Lucas answers for her. It’s the name he’s given anyone who’s asked, though there haven’t been many. “And you are?”
“Henry Longmire.” As pretentious a name as any she’s heard tonight. The man seems to have to drag his gaze away from her in order to focus on Lucas. “It’s an honor to be able to meet both of you in person. I have to admit, I knew of your work for a long time, but it was only when Miss Sarah here became your muse that it truly caught my attention.” His eyes go straight back to her, his smile growing into something that she could almost label kind if she didn’t know better.
“Yes, she’s been rather popular. Glad to know you found something that strikes your fancy.”
“If I may...I’ve read some quotes from him online about his process, but I’m curious about yours. Your expressions in the photos seem so...genuine. How do you go about getting into the headspace for this kind of thing?”
For a long moment Ellery just stares at him, uncomprehending of the fact that he’s actually asking her a direct question. No one ever speaks to her at these events, they only speak of her and at her. It’s only when Lucas’ hand moves from her back to her arm, squeezing threateningly in the very spot where he knows her one long sleeve is covering up the still-healing knife wound, that she realizes she has to answer. She has to lie. She’s not sure if she can even speak without her voice trembling, much less come up with a convincing response.
Her lips part, brain reeling, and she lets the words slip out, hoping against hope that whatever she’s about to say won’t get her a beating later.
“It just...comes naturally.”
Lucas’ grip eases, and she wants to crumple with relief. But Henry Longmire isn’t done yet.
“How did you decide to get into this particular kind of modeling?”
Her mind goes completely blank. The last response wasn’t even particularly a lie, but this...how is she supposed to come up with a story for this on the spot? Lying was never her strong suit to start with, and now she’s working on night after night of sleep interrupted by pain and not having eaten since yesterday morning because Lucas, as usual, was ‘in the zone’ and forgot to feed her.
“I...i-it…”
“It wasn’t her idea.” The tight grip on her arm has returned, sending throbs of pain up to her shoulder. “She had never even modeled before, actually, if you can believe that!” Lucas laughs aloud at his own joke. “I first saw Sarah at the restaurant where she was working as a waitress, and I thought to myself, ‘This is the girl I need for this idea of mine.’ Because I had had this image in my mind for ages, and I was just waiting for the perfect model to come along. So I approached her, and asked her about it, and she was interested, and, well…” He waves a hand around the room. “As you can see, she’s a natural.”
The restaurant. Of course, how had she not realized before? All this time, she had wondered why me? Why and how did he pick me, of all people? And perhaps she still didn’t know why, but at least she now knew how. Suddenly she could picture him, sitting at a booth a few tables down from hers, nursing a coffee and just...staring. She’d laughed with the other girls that night about what a creep he was, but had then promptly forgotten he existed. Creeps happened all the time. He wasn’t anything special, or so she had thought.
The story he had told just now seemed to be essentially the truth, only there had been no ‘approaching’ or ‘interest’. Only hands grabbing her in the darkness of a parking lot, then nothingness, and waking up in a cell.
“Hm.” Henry nods, but he almost seems...skeptical? Except a second later he’s flashing a smile and all traces of whatever she saw are gone. “That’s quite interesting. So Miss Sarah, what’s it like for you? Do you ever, I don’t know, get scared of him, when he’s getting you ready for these photos?”
Why is he asking her this? Is he...does he...care? Does he know something is up? She wouldn’t dare to hope, not after last time, except there’s just something off about him, something different than all the other people they’ve spoken to. Lucas, unfortunately, seems to sense it, too. Not only has he gone back to squeezing her arm, but he’s stiff beside her, not at all liking the direction of these questions.
Questions. Oh, no, she has to answer another one. Another lie. Does she get scared of him? Well, no. Not really. She doesn’t get scared of him, she lives in a constant state of fear of what he’ll do to her next.
“No.” It’s all she can manage, not even a fake smile to go with it. But in the mindset of it not actually being a lie, her voice is steady.
“Of course not,” Lucas adds on, and his voice is as stiff as his body. “She knows I’d never actually hurt her. Now, if you’ll excuse us, I believe there is another guest waiting.”
“Of course.” Henry Longmire gives a respectful nod and backs away, but she’s fairly certain she’s not imagining the way that his gaze lingers on her, brow furrowed in...thought? concern? She tries to push it from her mind, tries not to let hope build.
The exhibition drags on, and she loses track of the man in the never-ending stream of clinking glasses and twittering laughter. She’s so, so tired. Tired of pretending, tired of being stared at, tired of, in turn, staring at herself being tortured. But most of all just tired.
When Lucas drags her across the room toward yet another group that he wants to speak to, her legs finally decide they’ve had enough of supporting her weight. She stumbles, only saved from hitting the floor by his other hand coming up and catching her around the middle, uncaring of the ribs that still haven’t healed and probably won’t as long as they keep getting abused like this.
Several of the people in the vicinity gasp, as if they’re actually concerned, as if they actually care if she gets hurt.
And it’s finally too much. Ellery can’t stop the sob anymore than she can keep from dropping all of her weight into Lucas’ arms, forcing him to lower her to the floor. Tears flood her cheeks, desperate to escape after an entire evening of being held back, and a small part of her has the presence to hope that they’ll wash away the makeup hiding her bruises. Maybe then, maybe finally someone will actually, really see her.
A small crowd has gathered, hovering over her, and the claustrophobia of it only serves to intensify her sobs. She just wants this to be over, wants to go home, but she knows, beyond the hitching breaths that bend her in half and send stabs of pain through her chest, that she’s only made things worse for herself. She can’t look at Lucas right now. She knows he has to be incredibly angry.
“It’s alright, folks, just give her some space. It seems our lovely model here has twisted her ankle.” Because of course he would have a lie ready for this. “You know how women are with their shoes. Can’t pick something practical.” As he laughs he slips off her shoe, the gold stiletto that he had made her put on.
A few guests titter with laughter, some offer coos of sympathy. Lucas stands and shoos them away. “Everyone please, continue enjoying yourselves. I’m going to take Sarah to get some ice for her ankle and a bit of rest, and I’ll return shortly.”
She wishes he would get her some ice, it sounds heavenly for her ribs about now. Somehow she doubts whatever he’s taking her to will be nearly as pleasant.
Scooping her up in his arms like he’s her Prince Charming, Lucas parades her across the room to much admiration. Somewhere just before they reach the door that leads further into the building, Ellery spots Henry Longmire again, and their eyes meet. Once again, she’s struck with the thought that maybe, just maybe, he sees her. He sees, if not what’s going on, at least that something isn’t right.
She can’t speak to him. She can’t even give him some kind of signal, not without Lucas seeing. But she tries her best to send a message with her eyes - help me, please - before they disappear into the back hallway.
“I don’t know what came over you, but that was unacceptable,” Lucas hisses as soon as they’re alone. He drops her feet unceremoniously, and she struggles to regain her footing while still being carted down the hall by her arm.
This place is unfamiliar to her other than the actual gallery hall, so when they stop in front of an innocuous door she has no idea what’s inside. Lucas pulls a ring of keys out of his pocket, unlocking the door and revealing what seems to be a janitorial closet. Obviously he had stored some things here ahead of time, because the handcuffs that he reaches for don’t seem like they belong.
“You will stay right here,” he orders, wrenching her arms behind her back to cuff her, “and ‘ice your ankle’ until I come back for you.” He pulls something else off the same shelf, but she doesn’t get a glimpse of what it is before it’s pressing up against her lips. The angry look on his face warns her not to resist, to simply open her mouth and allow the knotted fabric to be slipped inside. He steps behind her, pulling the gag tight so that it cuts into her cheeks and yanking strands of her hair as he ties it.
Tears continue to slide down her cheeks, but they fall silently now.
“And if you kick, or scream, or generally make noise and try to get someone’s attention, your punishment tonight will be twice as bad.”
Shoving her forward, he slams the door shut and locks it again, leaving her to wait in the pitch darkness.

I literally found this blog recently and it’s awesome! But for your alternative ending, I was wondering what would everyone’s reactions be of Marinette missing for 5 months, to fighting her?
I honestly wasn’t really sure what this ask was asking for. I ended up writing their feelings about her going missing and seeing her for the first time in months. Sorry if this wasn’t what you wanted :(
(Also, thank you!!)

Everyone ready? Let’s go!
Dick
Dick is the one who has to stay strong for the family. He’s always been aware of that. It’s fitting that the guy whose biological family died due to their lack of safety net as trapeze artists ended up being the emotional safety net for his adoptive family. He is always there with his calm smiles, his bad puns, his warm hugs.
… that being said, who was to be his safety net? Marinette had served that purpose as of late; many hours had been spent in a rented out gymnasium, stretching and venting about their problems. It was the closest he’d come to a give-and-take relationship emotionally since his parents had been alive.
But now Marinette was missing. How was he supposed to vent about his anxieties about the fact that she was missing when she wasn’t there to vent to? Could he somehow vent to himself?
No. But he had to stay strong. His family needed him to. Without the Grayson safety net, his family would fall into early graves yet again.
So, he’d pull on that perfect smile of his and get to work. He’d force everyone to eat and sleep, he’d go out on patrols and make sure no one broke The Rule or too many bones, he’d make sure they didn’t close themselves off emotionally, he’d remind them they weren’t at fault, he’d listen to their problems, give them advice, hug them, help them, help them help them helpthemhelpthemhelpthem --.
~
Days stretched endlessly but weeks whizzed by.
And then Marinette was there.
His eyes had landed on her and he almost couldn’t believe it. Maybe he’d finally snapped. He’d held in his emotions, his grief and his guilt and his anger, and he’d held them in too long. And now he was hallucinating her. Now his mind had created a new her.
Maybe he actually could vent to himself now.
But then he’d glanced at everyone else and found that they’d stopped walking, too. That their eyes were still glued on that one spot. That they could see her and she was there. She was really there.
Emotions bubbled in his throat and tears stung his eyes and she was there.
“Mari?” His broken voice broke through the silence.
She brought a hand up to rest over her heart, almost as if she wasn’t quite sure he was talking to her despite him using her name.
Jason spoke next. “Is that really you?”
“Maybe,” she’d said, a bitter smile stretching across her face.
But Dick didn’t care about the warning signs, about the new demeanor, about anything because she was THERE.
A hand grabbed the back of his shirt. Held him back. He hadn’t even realized he’d been moving towards her, but that didn’t matter to him. Because now he couldn’t reach her.
His gaze fell on Tim and his brother had better have a good explanation.
“You’re pale,” Tim pointed out, blue eyes never leaving hers.
She giggled a little, but it was a broken sound. It was the kind of laugh a person made when they were trying their hardest not to cry.
“Yeah. Lack of sunlight and chemical baths do that.”
Tim’s grip on his shirt had lessened but it wasn’t necessary at all anymore. Instead, an icy hand clutched his heart and held him there.
Because now he could take in the chill in the room despite the roaring fire under where Marinette had perched herself. The way her eyes were now a dull blue instead of the almost unnaturally bright shade they usually were.
He hadn’t been around to be her safety net, and now the Marinette he knew was dead and gone. He was staring at what was essentially Marinette’s corpse. She even had the pale, bloodless skin of one.
He’d failed her, and he had already learned that there’s nothing that can be done when someone’s already hit the ground.
Jason
It was his job to keep her safe, and yet he couldn’t do that. She’d been captured by the Rogues. It was possible she’d never come back. If she did come back she wouldn’t ever be the same.
And it was his fault.
He should have tried harder to get her to stop. Made her take a break when she’d accidentally killed that man in the convenience store. He’d killed before, he’d KNOWN how that would affect a person. He’d seen how distracted she’d been the previous few days, seen the cracks. He should have seen this coming. He should have benched her when he’d had the chance.
And now his protege -- his SISTER -- had been captured by the Rogues and who knew what kind of horrors she was facing at that moment.
Because they weren’t going to kill her. The Rogues were never that merciful, and especially not when they’d been slighted.
Marinette had betrayed them, had been sent in to pretend to be their friend and gather information and sabotage some plans. Rogues were many things, but they weren’t ones to fake being friends. They all knew their real standings with each other, their real opinions of each other, for good and for bad. No, to them, she was a heartless monster.
And they were going to make sure she paid dearly.
~
“Is that really you?” He asked, though he knew what the answer would be. There was no way she could still be the same her after what she must have endured.
And she’d said “Maybe”.
And, though he’d expected it, the confirmation and the way her voice had cracked just slightly on the word had made it all the more real.
“You’re pale,” Tim pointed out.
Oh god, he was right. She looked so much like…
“Yeah. Lack of sunlight and chemical baths do that.”
Jason’s heart clenched at the words ‘chemical baths’. Because he knew what that meant. He may not have been there for when Tim had become Joker Jr., but he hadn’t needed to be in order to know just how completely fucked she had to be. He’d heard about the weeks of torture he’d endured before Batman and Batgirl had found it. Seen the way his younger brother still tensed slightly upon seeing Joker or Harley.
Five months. Marinette hadn’t been gone for a few weeks like he had. She’d been gone for five months. If that was what he was like in less than a month, then what about her?
He wanted to wrap her up in his arms and never let go, to never let HER go again, to make sure she’d never come to harm.
But one thing was stopping him.
Because he remembered what Joker Jr. had been created to do. What she must have been forced to do.
And he could see how much she hated it. In the lines in her forehead, in the slump of her shoulders, in the sad smile playing across her lips.
But she was doing it. She felt like she had to do it thanks to whatever she’d endured.
She wasn’t meant for murder. She especially wouldn’t do well with murdering someone she had once cared for. Whatever pieces of her old self that remained would crumble to dust until she would be completely unrecognizable. Completely broken.
He’d failed her, she’d been hurt, and he was going to have to hurt her more in order to keep her from hurting herself.
Tim
You’d think that it would be easy to figure out where she was. After all, these were the biggest Rogues in Gotham. Surely, they couldn’t hide out for long without people noticing them.
But no.
Nothing. Common henchmen were out of jobs, competitors were encroaching on their territories, allies called for help… and yet they refused to make an appearance. It seemed the Rogues had just grabbed Marinette and gone off-world.
A painful memory kept replaying in his mind. Taunting him.
The two of them had been sitting on a park bench on one of their many not-exactly-a-date-but-yeah-it’s-basically-a-date things that they loved to go on.
He remembered her in the Red Robin themed hoodie. The brilliant smile she’d given him. The twinkle in her eyes. The teasing lilt to her voice as she explained why he was her favorite hero:
‘Of course! He’s super smart! I mean, I know Batman is supposed to be the greatest detective of all time or whatever but, considering ages and experience, I think that Red Robin is probably going to have him beat in… I don’t know, a few years?’
She’d been laying it on thick, he knew, she’d been aware of his identity by then and was doing it to fluster him… but he could tell she wasn’t lying. Even if that was more blunt than she tended to be, it was still what she really thought of him.
The memory used to make him blush. Now, it hurt.
He downed his third cup of coffee at the hour, eyes locked on the screen in front of him. There had to be SOMETHING. There was always something.
And, yet, there wasn’t. The place she’d been taken had clearly been prepped for her kidnapping. There was hardly any blood anywhere outside of a bit on the wall where she must have hit it, someone must have set up a tarp or something. The only things they could find were the broken pieces of her comm and two ears. Forensics confirmed they were hers; the earrings they normally bore were missing, but they could hardly care about that when the first -- and likely tamest -- thing they’d done was cut off her ears.
That was it. There were footprints, sure, but they got lost in the millions of footprints on the streets of Gotham.
He threw his empty mug across the cave, but when it splintered on the ground he didn’t feel any better. It didn’t help him find her.
~
The moment his eyes landed on her, he knew.
He could recognize that look anywhere. Bleached-white skin, cherry-red lips… her usual pigtails had been raised in an imitation of Harley’s signature look...
Just like Tim had been Joker Jr., she was now Harley Jr.
Part of him wanted to assure her that she would be fine, that he was living proof that she would be okay again eventually. The other part knew that it was a lie, that she, just like him, would likely never be fully ‘okay’ ever again.
He blinked away the tears threatening to spill over.
He should not have allowed Dick to make him sleep, should have widened the scope of his search, he should have simply done so much more than he had.
No mystery was completely unsolvable. He had to have missed something.
He’d failed her, and now she was paying the price for his shortcomings.
Damian
Mother had taught him that relationships were a liability. They made you weak. They made you lose.
Father and Richard had taught him that relationships were tricky, but they were worth having.
But, if relationships were worth having, why did they cause him so much pain?
First Father had died. Then Richard had ‘died’.
Those had been temporary, at least. He had started to have difficulty feeling sad when people died. There had been three deaths in the family since he’d joined including his own, and they always came back within a few months. It had started to feel like the Wayne family was untouchable.
Then Alfred had been killed brutally by Bane. Even now, years later, he had yet to make a miraculous reappearance.
So, no, they weren’t untouchable.
They were assuming she was alive, that the Rogues were keeping her around for some big thing. But, as time stretched on with no progress or proof that she was even alive, he started to lose hope. Why were they so quiet? What were they planning? Had those plans gone awry? The Rogues could never match him on impulse control, so something might have happened…
He told himself it didn’t matter if she was alright or not. He knew it was a lie.
Despite their rocky start, he’d found himself attaching to her far faster than he should have. He was regretting it now. Maybe he should have put a distance between them, maybe then this wouldn’t have hurt so much.
It didn’t help that he couldn’t seem to stop thinking about her. It was the little things that seemed to hurt the most. The smell of coffee or baked goods, the place where she’d scratched her initials into a chair to claim it as hers, even the color red...
It was making it hard, if he were to be honest, to fight properly. He was constantly distracted. His mother had been right, his attachment to her was making him weak.
Not to mention the ring on his finger... He couldn’t bring himself to transform, not without his partner. Part of him wanted to tear it off his finger, to toss it off a pier and get rid of the constant reminder that she was gone, but he couldn’t.
It was all he had left of her, after all.
~
“Is that really you?”
“Maybe.”
No. The answer was no. He could see it in her eyes. Whoever was in front of them, they weren’t Marinette anymore. Not really.
“You’re pale.”
“Yeah. Lack of sunlight and chemical baths tend to do that.”
He clenched his fists tightly. The ring dug into his skin, but he couldn’t bring himself to care.
After all, he wasn’t stupid. He was aware of what had happened to Drake during his tenure as Robin. He knew what he’d been forced to do, and he was sure she was there to finish the job.
He readied himself for a fight.
He’d failed her, yes, but he couldn’t afford to lose another person.

ayo! (wait this might be a bit of a jumpscare dishdks i apologize) i’m op of That Post and was wondering what your opinions were on the whole woobification thing? /gen
because it’s a Tiny Bit widespread within the dream apologists to sort of,, overdramatize stuff like l’manberg hurting him. like they’re not a 100% wrong but if you look at it subjectively you can see some sort of bias going into that sort of thing that makes the character’s mistreatment a bit more blatant and intentional which,, it really wasn’t? and there wasn’t That Much of it either. especially on twitter (tumblr is much better about it) people just jump to conclusions it seems and yeah. since you brought it up i was wondering if you wanted to write a bit about it from your perspective!
we’re kinda from different corners of the fandom but i still notice that once you are too attached to a character you start taking certain evidence and giving it more weight than it actually has. there’s a blurry line between “taking away a character’s humanity” and woobification and it’s extremely difficult to find a balance when said character shows pretty much nothing of his emotional life (e. g. putting up the intimidating villain act in front of only c!tommy, pretty much everything he does making rational sense with no emotional subtext) and a lot of the fandom instantly jumps to one side or the other while it’s like.
we don’t know by far enough to say “he’s traumatized” or “he isn’t traumatized” or “he was villainized and it hurt him” or “l’manberg didn’t affect him at all”
as a very analytical person people constantly jumping to conclusions grinds my gears, but that’s about it for my own view of the situation - sorry for the rambling.
in general i agree with you that both dehumanization and woobification is Bad and i really hope getting Actual Context sorts this out (e. g. him saying he was betrayed by his friends doesn’t mean it wasn’t partially his fault or that they were allowed to leave him, but it also shows that he did care about that happening. mentioning the cat doesn’t mean anything about what happened to c!tommy but it also shows that he did care about what happened to it. it’s just always interesting to get more information about the way he feels because he usually does a very good job at hiding it.) because man.
it’s like being stuck between a rock and a hard place, especially if you also are attached to the character and are expected to automatically agree with everything the people on “your side” say. it just ends up with everyone being mad and the character being mischaracterised overall.
oh wow hello! i didnt expect the op of the post to find me you’re right lol
and yes i agree! you seem to have a lot of very good thoughts tbh.
and by woobification, i mean exactly what you’ve already pointed out— the people who will say l’manberg purposely villainized dream, the people who will say wilbur faked his mental illness to manipulate dream, the people who are pretty much always talking about how badly dream was treated by people who were acting only fairly for themselves, usually.
for example people who act like dream was a perfect peacemaker before tommy showed up, or that tommy started most conflict. these are just actual lies that are told by c!dream himself to justify his abuse of tommy, and people fall for them incredibly easily because not a lot of people watched early dsmp and know that truthfully it was chaotic even then, and that dream was chaotic too. not to mention wilbur soot tried very hard to secede peacefully with l’manberg and dream jumped directly into war with no warning. and then people say he was forced into their war when, no, he started it.
theres also people who will say like, dream and sapnap for example are such good friends. i’m sure they cared for each other, but dream on multiple occasions has done horrible things to sapnap with no regard for his feelings (like leading fundy to sapnaps pets during the petwar, leading tommy to sapnaps pets during the other petwar and encouraging him to kill them, handing mars over to tommy to use as leverage against sapnap, etc). george he’s been less awful too but he certainly spoke over him and ignored his feelings enough that george felt hurt. he had places in his hall of attachments for beckerson and mars. george and sapnap were right to walk away from being treated like that.
there’s also what you just said here — “dream puts on a villain persona for tommy”— but honestly he acts like that around quite a few people (example: eret) and it’s usually when he’s revealing crucial info, which leads me and many others to believe that ‘persona’ is actually a more truthful version of him.
there’s the fact that he really isn’t safe for people to be around (or at least he wasn't before the prison) because he was planning to come up with ways to control every single person by stealing and threatening their attachments (some of which were not items but were living animals, or a real breathing person).
and then people will say dream was doing exile to enforce rules, or to keep the peace— when it’s very clear in canon it was a deliberate plan to get tommy on his own and into the prison. (from the way he was framing tommy for multiple crimes, and having sam set up the prison, and kidnapping tommy instead of correctly exiling him, all at the same time).
not even going into how he wants to kill and revive people for fun or make tommy immortal.
it’s just— ignoring all these actual facts and saying “oh he misses his friends, let’s get him some friends now” reminds me of like. when people would put flower crowns on pictures of serial killers. and then, there’s hardly anyone on the server who wasn’t subject to dream’s plans, so there’s absolutely no one i would be okay with him interacting with.
just remembered about the torture thing, and wow i still hate it so much. it’s someone’s sick revenge fantasy twisted into a way to get a manipulative villain sympathy, and it’s just gross to me on every account. i do think dream is traumatized-- just not by l’manberg, which was a conflict he started on his own terms. i would think l’manberg did affect him, because he was scared of losing control.
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again— my ideal ending for dream would be for him to be sent far away from dsmp to an island full of therapy animals and super strong therapists who have never met him before. and for him to get a shit ton of therapy until he becomes a halfway normal person. and then eventually he could get integrated into society again; but a different one with new people. (although maybe dteam + bbh + puffy can visit him, they might still like him.)
none of the people on the server (who have all been affected by dream) should be burdened with befriending him or rehabilitating him— look how that turned out with sam! sam had a personal grudge towards dream and it ended with the poor dude being tortured every day; and sam himself falling into corruption and literally cutting off his boyfriends arm. like we can all see thats fucking awful right?
no one who was affected by dream should have to deal with him ever again. and contrary to popular belief, that includes a LOT more people then just tommy. dream isn’t just tommy’s antagonist, hes almost everybody’s.
the only person on the server who might also be able to stand to help dream is techno, and that’s from sheer lack of ability to give a shit. but techno is probably THE furthest thing from a good therapist there is lol, and dream needs better then that.
this kind of just ended up being a rant about my thoughts on c!dream, so im so sorry op. especially since it was probably negative for you. i hope you’re doing very well.
i guess in the end it’s true what you said— people will highlight or ignore things based on what characters they like, and it’s especially easy to do in this fandom, where half the content doesn’t even get watched and then we become a big echo chamber of half-truths.
considering dream has hurt so many of the characters i care about, i almost can’t understand how he could be someone’s favorite or comfort character— but he is nonetheless, and it would be unfair of me to be rude about that.
essentially it just bothers me to see someone who was a perpetrator of accurately portrayed abuse and manipulation (using both those words in their actual definitions, not just as random buzzwords lol) being given the flower crown edit effect. especially since he’s hurt the characters i care about a lot.
ANYWAY all of that being said (this got LONG im so sorry op) i am so so excited to get dream’s pov, because although i disagree with his actions strongly i actually find dream’s character very interesting and cool, and watching his POV is going to insanely fun. i cannot wait to see what theories get confirmed or denied
ALSO incase it wasn’t clear this is all /nm at you! you seem lovely and smart, and neither of us can help what characters we get attached to :]
#c!dream critical#dream meta#og post#hey guys i would actually like some feedback on this one since i worked hard on it#rbs are okay and encouraged :]#my meta

Lately I can’t stop thinking about Adam, like I’m legit crushed over what this show did to him. I know Supernatural was never perfect but the way it treated this character was so damn vicious, condescending and nasty; no different than a high school bully picking on an injured elementary schooler.
He never stood a chance. The thing is I don’t know what it was that made me latch onto Adam so strongly for over a decade. Maybe I could just sympathize and easily relate to his situation of being discarded and forgotten by family members. Or maybe I saw potential in this character and couldn’t fathom why no one else on that writing staff and the SPN fandom couldn’t.
I want you to take a second and absorb these pertinent facts about Adam Milligan that this show put forward. This is not anti-anything this is all the truth so bare with me:
He was the illegitimate youngest child of hunter John Winchester; a man who treated his older sons Sam and Dean like soldiers on his platoon.
Adam only saw his bio dad ONCE A YEAR and it was only to take him to ball games not to train him so that he could protect himself and his mother from (supernatural) threats.
He never knew the existence of his older brothers nor did they know about him because John deliberately ripped those pages out of his journal. Essentially trying to erase any evidence of Adam and Kate.
Because Adam grew up having no clue what was out there or about the “family business” he and his mother suffered VIOLENT PRE-MATURE DEATHS at the hands of ghouls which Adam STILL REMEMBERS long after being murdered.
Oh and John failed to kill those ghouls, providing them the golden opportunity of impersonating him and his mother so they could kill John and his half-brothers.
Adam was only an 18 year old pre-med studying medicine. Probably wanted to follow in his mother’s footsteps in helping people as she was a nurse.
Because Kate worked nights as a single mother, Adam had to grow up being his own parent at times; cooking his own meals and putting himself to bed.
Adam was ironically born on September 29th (1990) which is also known as Michaelmas aka the Feast of Saints Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. A potential storyline that could’ve gone somewhere but didn’t.
Adam is also by birthright a Men of Letters legacy though his brothers fail to mention that 10 years later.
The last thing Adam was doing while he was in Heaven, designed to look like his Prom, he was kissing a girl Kristen McGee; whom we’ll never know about or if he’ll ever see again.
Adam was ripped out of Heaven against his will by the angels to be used and manipulated as their backup device in the Apocalypse because Sam and Dean refused to comply with their demands.
After being resurrected, Adam was then recovered, kidnapped and held hostage by TFW (Sam, Dean, Bobby and Castiel) where they all took turns mouthing off at this angsty teenager about why he should trust a bunch of complete strangers over those who made him promises.
Adam only wanted to work with the angels in order to stop Lucifer and return to his mother. Highlighting that this character had a sense of justice, responsibility, cared about doing the right thing but also had his own reasons for wanting to save the world.
Sam tried to emotionally manipulate Adam with excuses for why their dad never told him about his family. And actually had the gall to say that him and Dean would’ve looked for him had they’d known he existed so they could be a family. Forgive me if I just laugh at this for a moment 🤣
Zachariah was able to get into Adam’s head because he knew how vulnerable he was. Telling him that trusting the Winchesters would only let him down which *SPOILER ALERT* turned out to be true.
Zachariah tortured Adam for hours before the Winchesters arrived to save him. And Dean was only willing to submit to the angel when Sam was just briefly tortured.
One of the last things Dean says to Adam in 5x18 after he was shocked to see his half-brothers come to his rescue was “Cause you’re family”. Again I have to...🤣🤣
At the moment of their escape, Dean doesn’t even help Adam (WHO’D BEEN INJURDED AND TORTURED) out of the room nor does he care about ushering him to safety. Dean just grabs Sam and hurries out the door. So much for being part of the family.
The last thing Adam screams before before being possessed by Michael was “Dean, help!” and then he hears Dean say “Just hold on!”
Adam, not being Michael’s true vessel yet born from the powerful Winchester bloodline, was able to look directly at the archangel’s true form without his eyes burning out. And this is NEVER explained why.
Dean mentions Adam only a total of THREE TIMES after this happens in 5x19, 5x22 and 6x11 while Castiel mentions it to Sam in 5x21. And Sam, WHO’D BEEN THE MAIN EMOTIONAL MANIPULATOR, just doesn’t give a shit to remember him.
Castiel threw a Molotov cocktail at Michael (who was using Adam’s body) to briefly cast him out which Adam probably felt in excruciating detail based on what Michael says in 15x08.
Sam, possessed by Lucifer, pushed himself and his innocent half-brother possessed by Michael into the cage for all eternity.
Castiel somehow managed to pull Sam out of the cage but decided to leave Adam behind.
After Dean bargains with Death to get Sam’s soul and Adam out of the cage. Only to get just Sam’s soul and leave Adam to his fate. The issue is never brought up again between the Winchesters.
Adam sits a prisoner in a cage with an archangel for 10 years our time but thousands of years Hell time.
Michael most likely protected Adam from some of the horrors in Hell which is why he was able to keep his sanity.
Sam and Dean went to Hell to talk to Lucifer in the cage but continue to ignore Adam’s existence and don’t bother releasing him yet they let Lucifer escape.
Dean also went back to Hell to retrieve Bobby’s soul so he could go to Heaven and again doesn’t even bother with Adam.
Season 10 for Supernatural’s 200th episode, Sam and Dean were reminded by SPN fans putting on a musical that Adam was still in the cage yet THEY NEVER DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
Mary Winchester STILL doesn’t know about Adam even though she was reunited with John during the 300th episode. He’s never mentioned during their big family get-together. I guess he never counted.
Adam and Michael are finally set free of Hell only because Chuck threw a giant hissy fit at the Winchesters and opened all the gateways.
The first thing Adam wanted to do as a free man in 15x08 was not seeking revenge on his brothers for abandoning him, but to eat some diner food, change his clothes and get a “little job”
After years of imprisonment, Adam actually befriended the Prince of Heaven aka the one friend he has/the only other person besides his mother who actually gave a damn about him.
TFW trapped, kidnapped and imprisoned Adam and Michael at the bunker in order to force them to help against Chuck.
And Adam, though still angry, hurt and worn out over the situation; chose to help his brothers when there was NOTHING in it for him and successfully convinced Michael to do the same.
Despite how his brothers treated him, Adam STILL believed in their best and vouched that they “always try to do the right thing”
Adam went to Hell a cranky, sassy, angsty, naïve teenager and returned a kinder, wiser, more patient, humble and rational-thinking man who still managed to smile and laugh after enduring centuries of pain.
Dean gives Adam his much due apology for not saving him but Sam doesn’t. In fact Sam doesn’t even bring him up the next time the Winchesters see each other.
Adam’s last words on this show are to Dean and they’re “Since when do we get what we deserve?” and “Good luck” 🤓
Chuck Thanos-snapped Adam’s soul out of existence OFF-SCREEN yet Michael somehow remained in his body.
Adam was 90% of Michael’s impulse control hence why he was so dark in his last appearance without Adam because that’s the only way I can cope with that disgusting character assassination in 15x19
Jack supposedly revived Adam along with everyone else after becoming the new God. BUT his current status now reads “Unknown” instead of “Alive” so what the fuck am I suppose to think now?!
Sam and Dean didn’t even think about checking in on Adam to make sure he was okay before they hit the road on their last solo bro-outing.
If Adam really is alive then he’s doomed to a miserable, lonely existence without his best friend (who’s now dead). Broke, homeless, jobless; his brothers STILL DON’T GIVE A RAT’S ASS after he’d helped them in good faith. He’s legally deceased thanks to the ghouls. And he gets to look forward to demon city the moment he dies cause guess where he’s ending up?
No one remembers him even after he’d returned in 15x08
The car and the dog are more important to the Winchesters than their innocent half-brother.
Okay I realize I just unloaded a whole mountain of salt but this is the full outline of Adam’s tragic story on Supernatural. These writers never cared about him and why? What did he do to deserve this gross treatment from the show’s protagonists or just in general? Why was he even introduced if this was going to be the outcome of it all? I don’t know what’s worse leaving him in Hell (cause at least he had Michael for company) or bringing him back and not knowing what became of him after. It’s insufferable 😣 I just want everyone to know that the showrunners and writers may not care about him BUT I DO.

“Humans are [Insert text here]”
Chapter 1: Idiots kidnap the wrong kid..
Honestly, life hasn't been bad. His needs were met, most of the time, and he had a.. place to sleep…
Yeah no life wasn’t great.
Tommy was easily, barely, avoiding Social Services. Sleeping on benches and occasionally grass. He got whatever wasn’t wanted and had an official bag for the first time. He had some spare clothes, and no money. The authorities stopped looking for him after a while and the only main challenge was getting essentials.
No one would miss him. No one would look for him. Therefore he was the perfect target among many others. The only thing setting him apart was his sheer ability to survive, not a want, like many of the others, it was a fact he would survive. Not that his captors knew that of course.
Alternative: Tommy gets kidnapped by aliens and sbi rescues him.
——————
He woke up in a cage.
Not a cell or a room, a fucking cage.
There were a few others in various cages around the room. All of which were either dead or close to it. Most of the ones still alive had been there for months, possibly years. No one knew of course.
The smell of rotting bodies stenched the place with a coppery coating. The room wasn’t large but not quite small. It was dull grey with layers of grime settling on the floor and cages. The room was long and skinny, lined with cages against either wall in a zig zag format. The only light was coming from the small door window, which happened to be positioned right in front of Tommy. It glowed a faint yellow and was blurry, not allowing Tommy to see into the hall.
Shadows would occasionally pass by the window. None ever stopped at it. Causing the ever growing hunger to grow more. Once one had stopped at the door, not for more than a second, before it screeched. It was inhuman and sounded like a hurt hawk from one of those nature documentaries. Tommy shoved his hands onto his ears and waited for it to stop. The thing chuckled, not like a human, but something close to it.
——————
Tommy waited for what seemed like hours before something happened. The door opened, sliding into the ceiling. A weird looking creature stepped in. It looked like it had a porcelain mask over its face with a painted smiley face. There were no ears or hair, instead just more porcelain, which formed a spear which sat on shadows. The thing was wearing a lime green hoodie and black leather pants that seemingly faded into the creature's legs. The knees bent inwards causing it to look awfully awkward as it crouched near Tommy’s cage. The hands were long and lanky with no real palm. The creature also had a tail that looked close to how Tommy pictured a devil's tail to look. This was the first time in ages Tommy was glad to be behind bars.
The thing pointed at itself and said,
“Dream.”
In the most heavily accented English Tommy had ever heard. That didn’t matter as much of the fact that the seemingly painted smile moved with the words.
“Come.”
The creature unlocked the cage and half dragged Tommy out of the cage into what Tommy presumed to be the lab. He noticed a window. The only thing for miles was stars. He was in space. He had been kidnapped by Aliens. Fuck.
——————
Humans were a heavily avoided species. The things were what kids would expect to come out of their closet. They were feared, and for good reason.
The first ship to find Earth was ecstatic. Finding another intelligent species in what would’ve been deemed as a planetary desert was a scientific breakthrough. Causing the entirety of the media to go insane for a couple of years.. That was until the first ship ventured onto the planet. It was immediately shot down. The entire crew was killed and the entirety of the ship was destroyed in a matter of minutes. The ISF (Intergalactic Safety Force) deemed it as a no flight zone and claimed to punish anyone in the desert. Even so poachers smuggled humans and within days had their ship crashed.
The only ones allowed to take humans were scientists, who were specialized in taking care of difficult species. They were allowed to test on said species and do whatever they wanted, in the name of science of course. Most people didn’t care how they treated them and were really only interested in what could kill them.
Which is where Wilbur came in. He was a toxicologist, a scientist studying poisons, he also dealt with various potions and other chemical mixes. This knowledge is what gained his entry to the Dream Team Ship.
He had been testing on around nine different humans for the past six months on the celestial calendar. This time Dream, his boss and the captain, brought in a juvenile human. He was skinny and lanky. Clearly had been starving before being taken. He felt bad before shaking off his pity.
“V74 and V83. Make sure he can communicate beforehand.” Dream promptly stated before leaving the kid in the room.
Wilbur tried not to think about his terrified face, before he clipped on the translator. Usually it is worn on the back of the head, since humans brains are vastly different than most species, it is clipped to the left side of the head.
The translator looks like a simple device when in reality it took dozens of celestial years to perfect it. It’s a small silver disk that ingrains into the part of the brain that controls communicating. After the body gets used to the device it can translate any language into one you understand instantly.
It took a couple more years for the translator to incorporate the estimated 7,000 languages spoken on Earth. For a planet that has been isolated it has a more complex and diverse set of cultures and languages, than Pellucidian has had in centuries. To say Wilbur was jealous, wouldn’t be far from the truth. Not that he studied cultures for a living. It was something that always interested him.
He put the device on the kid’s head and grimaced at the pain that was on the kid’s face. He quickly dried up the blood and mixed a solution that would ease the pain. It was clear and tasted like water, which is the only way they got humans to take the pain reduction.
The kid relaxed for a spilt second before tending at the unfamiliar setting.
“Where am I?” He snapped, causing Wilbur to jump back a bit, before collecting himself and standing up.
“The Dream Team craft’s labatory.” The kid’s face flashed with panic for a split second, “You have two testings scheduled for today. It will go quickly.”
“Will it be painful?” The kid asked. As standard for testing, Wilbur ignored the question and measured the substances. He quickly cleaned the puncture spot before giving him the needle.
The kid winced in pain. Wilbur swiftly led him to the testing chair. It had restraints that moved with the patient's body, which prevented bruising while keeping them in place. Wilbur clicked them on and sat at the desk located to the left of the kid.
“What did you inject into me?” The kid asked clearly trying to fight off the anesthetic.
“A dosage of Lidocaine, which is an anesthetic for your species. It’s only to numb pain that may come with the solutions we will be using today.” The kid’s face flashed with a deeper panic than before, causing Wilbur to tense. “We won’t start yet, since we have a list of questions to go through before we begin.” Wilbur lied. He hated testing people, especially kids. Dream of course didn’t care, like the rest of the Dreamon species. It made him sick. That was when he made a split second decision. Hoping he could get a distress signal out, without alerting the other crew members. He was gonna get the kid off the ship, at the next stop of course. Which was in three celestial hours.
The kid scoffed, clearly not believing the lie. He paused a moment thinking over his options before he smirked,“Fine. Ask me what you want bitch-boy!” Wilbur gasped, clearly not anticipating the insult.

So I've seen alot of people give their theory's and opinions on what's going to happen to Lilith in season 2 of the owl house, whether or not she's forgiven, where she's going to stay and how she'll act I guess, and the major thing being if she's redeemed or how redeemed she is.
I'm just going to throw my own thoughts out there and say that obviously there's still alot to do with her character. I also have no intention of bashing her character, I actually enjoy when she's on screen. I do like her but she's still problematic. So buckle up this is a long one.
To get my thoughts straight I'll break what I have to say down into parts, cause I get distracted easily.
First up im going to say I think she is far from redeemed. My impression of her is that she regrets cursing her sister, but she also finds some sort of sick pride in it too, as shown in agony of a witch when she screams " then why were you so easy to curse!?".
She also has no problem hurting literal children to get what she wants either, but that's another issue I'll discuse.
Lilith seems to resent her younger sister to an extreme, unhealthy degree. I could sit here and theorise about her child-hood and teen years wondering what could have created such insecurities in her, but im not going to. That is irrelevant to the point im trying to make. What's important to keep in mind though is that she was "perfect prissy Lilith"- the covention growing up, Eda was good at almost everything, and that Lilith cursed Eda to secure a spot in the emperors coven when Lilith was 18-19 and Eda was 16-17.
Is she redeemed ?
No i don't think she is even half way there. She cursed Eda in her sleep to win a fight. Lied for over thirty years to Eda about that curse. Mocked Eda for the symptoms of a curse she put on her "Why don't you go home and rest wouldn't want you breaking hip"- sense and insensitivity . she kidnapped Luz to use her against her sister, used Luz as a human meat shield in her and Eda's battle during agony of a witch, was generally quite rude to Luz when she wasn't dangling her over a pit of spikes, and also SPIKES.
Taking on half of a curse she put on her sister in the first place doesn't begin to cover the trauma and pain she's caused in the name of healing her sister, enforcing the emperors laws and joining said emperors coven.
I would also like to point out that she had a way to elevate her sisters pain all this time but she didn't. I've seen arguments like she trusted the emperor to heal her sister but I can already point out so many things wrong with that.
even if she did trust him, no normal person could sit by and watch any family member they claim to care about suffer, if she trusted the emperor so much she would have split the curse sooner, (providing Eda would have let her of course) and had him heal her or Eda both.
But she didn't do that she lied to her sister for years, partly because she was scared of losing Eda and also Eda's reaction which was, and would always be unbridalled rage. but also to an extent it suited her, it suited her to be the successful sibling, the sibling doing things "right" Lilith seems to be as I said before extremely insecure, and I think that just going off the episodes she was in and the impression the show puts forward.
If what I've noticed is correct, Lilith has spent her life in her sisters shadow, bullied in school as revealed in the end of something ventured something framed, nobody took her seriously due to her appearance and probably being a late bloomer in a lot of ways. She would have jumped at the chance to be given the same respect that Eda and other talented witches or well off, higher up witches recieved.
In other words the emperors coven fed Liliths' battered ego, telling her what she wanted to hear.
It makes sense that she wouldn't want to let that go, but in the context of what has happened and the fact she seemed to still try and stick with the emperors coven before Belos sent her to be executed along with eda and king.
She isn't redeemed, she probably doesn't see much wrong with how she's behaved up until now(besides cursing Eda) and there's still alot of work for her to do. She only split half the curse because her expulsion from the coven forced her to address a mistake she made for once.
Season 2 and maybe more seasons looks like where she'll be earning her redemption. Hopefully she'll be forced to face more of her flaws and short comings and work on them.
Will she be forgiven?
Lilith from what has been shown has hurt;
Eda Luz, King, Amity, Willow and Gus. They all have different reasons to be hostile towards her.
Eda
She cursed Eda and almost subjected her to a faith worse than death, lied to her, mocked her. Kidnapped her apprentice and almost got Luz killed a number of times, using her as a sheild. She dragged Luz into the whole messed up rivalry. I don't think Eda will forgive her emediatly, after all, even if she can forgive Lilith for what she did to her, she would also have to forgive her for what she did to Luz.
She essentially kidnapped Edas' surrogate daughter, Eda was much angrier about Luz's suffering than her own "you hurt luz, you cursed me. before anything turns me to stone I'm going to tear you apart!" - young blood, old souls
Yeah Eda was fit to murder her sister, taking some of the curse probably only got rid of her homicidal desire towards Lilith, thats it.
Luz
I've seen some people make fan content in which Luz immediately forgives Lilith or comes round eventually to her when Lilith acts nice around the house.
That seems super out of character for Luz, sure Luz is characterised to be kind and sweet but if the final proves anything its that she has a ruthless streak that comes out when she tries to protect the people she loves, her family. Lilith has threatened the people she cares about. I don't see Luz letting that slide, and she would probably still be on guard. Luz may have accepted her help in young blood old souls, but that was only because she wanted to save Eda she told Lilith she didn't like her "whole deal" and she meant it.
Lilith would have to prove she's really changed for the better for luz to begin to for give her.
King
I like the idea of King and Lilith becoming friends simply for comedy perposes, if King were to forgive her and I think he'd be one of the closest to it out of the main characters.
They'd be a force of sheer stupidity and ego they'd be bad and good for each other, King weirdly enough would be more emotionally mature since he's learned things like you can't be posesive over people in really small problems it's a lesson Lilith needs to learn since she seems to resent Luz to an extent, thinking Luz was taking her sister from her "Edalyn is with her family, her real family. Go back to your world human this one is ours" - agony of a witch
Of course before this she needs to also earn his forgiveness, he wasn't there for agony of a witch but he did experience the fear and worry of losing eda in young blood, old souls the only person he had up until then was Eda " King and I, we don't have much in this world. we only have each other"- A lying witch and a Warden. Lilith helping rescue Eda might have helped improve his opinion of her, but Lilith would have to get over herself first to begin her redemption.
Hooty
I don't think Hooty would hold a grudge, mostly because he's comic relief and weird. Since I personally think no one in the owl house would be bothering with her, and I see her being forced to live In the shed. I think Hooty would be her only company and I think it would be unexpected and really funny if he's the first person/bird thing to open her eyes to her awful behaviour. You gotta start somewhere and Hooty is it.
Amity, Gus and Willow
I think Gus and Willow will be stand-offish until Luz and King forgive Lilith.
Once Lilith has developed more as a person she owes Amity an apology for how she behaved as a teacher. Amity would be mad after the covention episode, but almost killing her crush would make her protective of Luz, and wary of her in general.
Conclusion
Lilith hasn't been redeemed in my opinion, there's still alot of growth she needs to go through, she's made alot of terrible mistakes and decisions, its what makes her so interesting. I like her but she's a sh*t person, but she can learn to be less of a sh*t person.
I'm aware this is a kids show and she probably won't get all this development or she could get different character development and that would be awesome, its just my thoughts and opinions and I'm really excited for season 2.
