oh yeah, for the sake of any wanderers that may be concerned about this and want to keep certain info safe i offer you a very long explanation of how pluralkit's privacy system works and how to use it to keep yourself more safe on the internet! - first off and most important, you can check how something looks publicly by adding -pub to the end of your command in almost every situation. this does not work for lists like member lists and i would assume group lists, but most commands (like pk;s, pk;m, or other commands that pull up actual pages where you can see what others can see) support this. if needed, you can have a friend attempt more specific commands to make sure things are properly private, as there isn't a close friends system or anything like simply plural, it's either public or private. use this to test out profiles to make sure none of the more sensitive information can be pulled up by others, if you for some reason feel the need to put it there. - people can pull up your pk;s if they have your pluralkit system id, one of your member ids (which usually will give them your system id), and your discord user id (pk;s [user id here]). additionally, pk;s [ping user here] also works if you're in a server together. please keep all of these in mind! you also cannot private your system id or your member ids on any profiles relevant to them, they will always be present. - there are three categories of privacy: system, members, and groups. they all work somewhat separately from each other.
1. pk;s privacy brings up system privacy options. you can private your system name, your system avatar, description, pronouns, member list, group list, current fronters, and front/switch history. all of these are public by default, and i do recommend tweaking these settings yourself. breaking it up further, - name, avatar, description, and pronouns are all aesthetic options that are pretty self explanatory. you can't private banners however, so please keep this in mind. (i'm not sure why) - member list is the most important thing here. i recommend you private this. this gives people access to see exactly how many members are in your system, and the ability to pull up your pk;l or pk;list. by privating this, you are denying them the ability to see who is in your system, how many, and their ids. that being said, if you proxy in a server with them they can use the question emoji feature or go to the apps options to pull up that member's profile (and gain their id!), the latter of which is completely invisible to you, so please keep this in mind. member profiles cannot be mass-privated, you have to individually change the privacy settings on each one. imo mass privating should be an option and i'm not sure why it isn't. - group list is pretty important if you have any important groups, but if they're all aesthetic or formatted for public viewing it can basically be ignored. note that even if your group list is private, groups will still show up on your public profiles unless you individually private them. no, i'm not sure why this doesn't have a mass privating option either. - current fronters and front/switch history can be grouped together, they're both related to pk's fronting system. if you don't log your fronts on pluralkit, you can ignore these, but if you do, i would consider if you want them to be public or not. current fronters displays who's set as who's currently fronting on pluralkit (i am unsure if this is properly synced with simply plural, i think it depends, but i would not take the risk!) on your pk;s. this can be used publicly and responsibly, but if you don't want to take the risk or just don't feel like anyone needs to know that info, private them. - you cannot private your linked accounts, creation date, system tag, id or color on your pk;s. please keep this in mind! your timezone is also public, whenever you pull up a pk;s profile it gives you the time it was created at the bottom in your timezone, no matter who's profile you may be pulling up. other people can see that, so be wary! they can't find out your timezone by pulling up your profile though, to my knowledge. this can be thwarted on member and group profiles, as you can disable the time it was created through the metadata option.
2. member privacy is also important, and brings up privacy options specific to each member. unfortunately there is no mass privating as i mentioned, you have to do it individually. the command for this is pk;m [name or id] privacy, and it gives you the options of name, description, avatar, birthday, pronouns, proxy tags, meta, and visibility. that being said, you can use pk;config private member [on/off] to set it so that any new member you create's privacy options are all private by default. that being said, pluralkit also removes members with their visibility set to private from your list when you pull up pk;l, so keep this in mind. you can thwart this by adding -all or -a to the end of your pk;l command so it pulls up all hidden members as well. members being hidden from lists also doesn't stop people from pulling up a profile from an id, so keep this in mind as well. it does not hide anything other than your name in the member list.
- name, description, avatar, birthday, and pronouns are all aesthetic functions that are self-explanatory. still can't private banners, for some reason.
- proxy tags privates your proxies, removing them from your profile when someone uses pk;m [your member id], or in other words pulls up your member profile. i usually keep this disabled, but it's up to you as most proxies tend to not involve any specific sensitive information. you can use the shorthand "proxies" for this command instead of writing proxy tags each time. or proxy, apparently. didn't know that, i'm testing out all these commands as i write to make sure the info is accurate.
- metadata is pretty important, and i would keep this private. this includes when the member was created, how many messages that have been sent from the proxy, the last time they fronted, and allegedly their last message, something i just learned about. i assume this refers to the command addition -with-last-message or -wlm, which you add to the end of pk;l (pk;l -wlm) which tells you when the last time a message was sent from each specific proxy.
- visibility i went through at the end of the opening message for member privacy.
3. groups, a privacy setting i personally neglect as i don't use them (other than sometimes to host images for my simplyplural. lol.) groups function similarly to members, where there are no global group privacy options, you have to individually private them all yourself. if you want your groups to be private by default on creation, use the command pk;config private group [on/off]. keep in mind this affects visibility as well, however the same visibility command applies here as it does for members. they work functionally the same. your options are name, description, icon, member list, metadata, and visibility. all of these are pretty subjective to how you're using groups, so use your own discretion to figure out what should be public and what should be private.
- name, description and icon are all aesthetic functions. rinse and repeat previous categories.
- member list dictates if others can use the command pk;g [group] list, from what i know. this will not remove them from your profiles though, that command would be visibility.
- metadata functions quite similarly
- visibility dictates if the groups show up when you query them in pk;g l, and also if they show up on public member profiles, at least from my experiments. the entire groups system is frustrating to me, so use your own discretion here.
4. for some additional advice: - check every member, system or group profile with the pk;[m,s,g] -pub command in order to make sure it displays information you are okay with having public when you are creating them. - don't put sensitive information (like triggers, personal info, etc) anywhere on pluralkit. that's not where it belongs. - if you have a high headcount (me too)... good luck. - using pk;s or any of the different category variations without using -pub at the end will bring up a profile with all of your private information. if you are pulling up your profiles somewhere (for example, a server) remember to add -pub to the end so people only see what you want them to see! - banners have no optimization and i still have no clue why - if you need to for some reason specifically use discord for your logging purposes (god i feel ya), consider creating a private discord server! that's how i do most pk work and keep my private stuff there too - you can use pk dms to work on pk as well! it works the same as if you had pk in a server.
- for other places to put your information, consider notion (app and website, there are a couple plural logging templates on the internet you can use), obsidian (app and website, it's got a learning curve, but it has tons of features), writelighthouse (website, created as a plural logging software, has tons of helpful system-centric features), simply plural (the one and only), or a good old fashioned notebook! - before you post anything on the internet, consider: "could people use this to impact me maliciously?" if the answer is yes, consider not posting it. it's not worth the risk. private conversations between friends are one thing, but public discord servers or tumblr posts are a whole different ball game. you can never truly get that stuff off the internet, it will haunt you forever. be sure to create a path on the internet you're proud of creating. - if you have to question if something should be private or not, nine times out of ten it should be private. - don't post your triggers or talk about your trauma on the internet, especially if you are under the age of 18. - being a more private individual is a good thing. most people nowadays leave giant digital paper trails, and minimizing that is one of the best things you can do for yourself. i'm not saying you can't open up to people, i'm just saying to treat sites like tumblr like a public park or a convention. there are certain things you wouldn't talk about in those places, cause you wouldn't want people you don't know to hear and use that maliciously, and the internet is no different.
that's all for now! i'm only human and thus will make some mistakes and most of this information is subject to change on pluralkit's part, but i hope it helps you pave a safer, more secure pluralkit experience for yourself! if you need any help with anything, feel free to contact me and i will do my best to assist you, though i only check tumblr once a week or so so it might take a while. be sure to check out the pluralkit forums and command lists and the pluralkit official discord server in order to learn more about the bot! learning proficiency in any tool is a good thing, and knowing these little tips and tricks can be really helpful! now if only i could get this kind of motivation to learn about excel or spreadsheet.
*sigh* just a friendly reminder that PluralKit attaches a unique code to your system that allows anyone to look up your system - and if you look up a system on discord using pk;system [code], gives a link to all of their public system data on PKs website, which for some of you includes information on triggers, sexuality, and other things that cyberbullies may misuse.
I have been messing around with the settings as much as possible and I cannot find a way to avoid this beyond privating all alters and all system info, which many users don't do.
Even with information privated, it still seems that PK will link your discord handle with your Pluralkit user if the unique code is plugged in.

Sharing as this seems to me like a breach of privacy at best, and dangerous at worst.

trans women are everywhere and are so eager to be seen and heard but only if they feel safe around you. if you hardly ever have trans women interacting with you, especially online, then consider there might be a reason for that and you should address it

thinking about how Humans Are Space Orcs stories always talk about how indestructible humans are, our endurance, our ability to withstand common poisons, etc. and thats all well and good, its really fun to read, but it gets repetitive after a while because we aren't all like that.
And that got me thinking about why this trope is so common in the first place, and the conclusion I came to is actually kind of obvious if you think about it. Not everyone is allowed to go into space. This is true now, with the number of physical restrictions placed on astronauts (including height limits), but I imagine it's just as strict in some imaginary future where humans are first coming into contact with alien species. Because in that case there will definitely be military personnel alongside any possible diplomatic parties.
And I imagine that all interactions aliens have ever had up until this point have been with trained personnel. Even basic military troops conform to this standard, to some degree. So aliens meet us and they're shocked and horrified to discover that we have no obvious weaknesses, we're all either crazy smart or crazy strong (still always a little crazy, academia and war will do that to you), and not only that but we like, literally all the same height so there's no way to tell any of us apart.
And Humans Are Death Worlders stories spread throughout the galaxy. Years or decades or centuries of interspecies suspicion and hostilities preventing any alien from setting foot/claw/limb/appendage/etc. on Earth until slowly more beings are allowed to come through. And not just diplomats who keep to government buildings, but tourists. Exchange students. Temporary visitors granted permission to go wherever they please, so they go out in search of 'real terran culture' and what do they find?
Humans with innate heart defects that prevent them from drinking caffeine. Humans with chronic pain and chronic fatigue who lack the boundless endurance humans are supposedly famous for. Humans too tall or too short or too fat to be allowed into space. Humans who are so scared of the world they need to take pills just to function. Humans with IBS who can't stand spicy foods, capsaicin really is poison to them. Lactose intolerance and celiac disease, my god all the autoimmune disorders out there, humans who struggle to function because their own bodies fight them. Humans who bruise easily and take too long to heal. Humans who sustained one too many concussions and now struggle to talk and read and write. Humans who've had strokes. Humans who were born unable to talk or hear or speak, and humans who through some accident lost that ability later.
Aliens visit Earth, and do you know what they find? Humanity, in all its wholeness.

here’s the thing.
if you’re one of the people celebrating our flag means death’s cancellation for whatever reason right now, i need you to realize that this is just a sign that whatever you love is next.
and i’m not saying that out of spite. having your favourite show cancelled is awful, i wouldn’t wish it on anyone. but if our little-gay-pirate-show-that-could can’t get its third and final season, the future of queer media is extremely grim.
ofmd was the definition of a sleeper hit. hbo max had no faith in it when the first season came out. it gained popularity purely through word-of-mouth. but it became one of max’s biggest shows, and it’s since been marketed as their flagship series.
it was the #1 most in-demand series in the world for 8 weeks (7 of those weeks consecutively). it’s currently in the 99.7th percentile of the comedy genre, meaning it’s in higher demand than 99.7% of all comedy series in the u.s. it has a 94% audience and critics score on rotten tomatoes. it’s the most in-demand hbo original series even above euphoria, succession, and the last of us.
it was nominated for 16 awards for the first season alone, including a GLAAD award and a peabody award. the second season was just nominated for an art directors guild award, which it was previously nominated for and won in the same category for season one.
besides awards, ofmd is critically-acclaimed and praised for its representation (including a cast of majority queer, bipoc, and disabled characters) and themes of anti-colonialism, challenging gender norms/toxic masculinity, and self-discovery/acceptance. it also has a diverse team of directors and writers consisting of several bipoc, women, and queer/trans/non-binary people.
on top of all of this, the plan for the show all along was only ever for three seasons. david jenkins only wanted three seasons for the full romcom structure to tell ed and stede’s story. that’s it. nothing more.
this isn’t an attempt to make you care about the show. but ofmd’s cancellation isn’t just a loss for the fanbase and the cast/crew. it’s a sign that it does not matter how successful or profitable shows highlighting lgbtq+ (or otherwise inclusive) narratives are or how many big names are involved. ofmd would not have been cancelled if it were a straight romcom. they would’ve magically found the budget. but corporate greed doesn’t care about us. they have no respect for queer people or queer media. and in the age of streaming, it’s only a matter of time until we lose all of it.

I love it when women hate men. I love it when women are allowed to vent to each other about how horrible and creepy men are. I love it when women form friendships with and prioritize each other over relationships with men(whether they're attracted to them or not). I love it when women put men dni in their bios and on their nude photos and on posts on their blogs. I love it when women refuse to mollycoddle and accommodate entitled male feelings with "but this doesn't mean I hate all men, I know a few men who are great, I love my father/sons/brothers/uncles/male cousins/guy friends" I love it when women complain about men WITHOUT "not all men" being a disclaimer. I love it when women avoid socializing with/refuse to be around/befriend/get close to men because they know men can't be trusted. I love it when women make "kill all men" jokes. I love it when women offer absolutely no concern or care for men's feelings and if their misandry offends men whatsoever because why should we, men are the oppressor class who have raped and killed and abused us and kept us as subjugated as second-class citizens for millennia, they regularly mistreat us and the women in their own marginalized communities still every single day and make this world so much harder and more awful for us to be in, and if we choose to hate them and not spare them any sympathy then so be it, and I don't just mean "men as a class" either, you can be a woman who doesn't want to have anything to do with any man on an individual basis and completely cuts off men from her personal life too and ykw I will love and fucking support you in that because men deserve absolutely NOTHING from us. If they're so tough and strong then they can handle it just like they can handle being lonely. If you are a woman who hates men, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A LESBIAN AND/OR A TRANS WOMAN, then just know that I love you. I love you, I support you, and you are safe here.
#was going to make a post about how much i hate that women aren't allowed to hate their oppressors but i decided to spin it into something#positive instead#this is supposed to be the feminist site that makes reddit mgtow piss their baby diapers so let's go back to despising men and not coddling#their feelings and let's dye our hair blue while we're at it#i am so tired of this new wave of guilt-tripping and gaslighting women who hate men and don't trust or want to be around them#i hate how we're made into villainesses or the problematic ones for not valuing them in our lives or for wanting to guard ourselves or be#safe from our oppressors#and i'm tired of people who don't know the first thing about feminism being like 'BUT THAT'S TERF RHETORIC WHAT ABOUT X MINORITY MEN'#guess what women can also be x minority that you're trying to protect the men of and we get to hate men too#trans women are included when i say women btw and trans men are included when i say men#if anyone has the right to hate men more than anybody else it's trans women esp trans lesbians because they put up with so much shit#from men that even cis women do not and they especially know how vile men are behind closed doors#so#terfs fuck off#radfems fuck off#and if anybody tries to make this post more appeasing to men or 'not all men's this post you are getting blocked and hit with a hammer#feminism#misogyny#sexism#patriarchy#tw men#tw rape#tw abuse#misandry#terfs dni#radfems dni#feminists need to go back to being scary and unpalatable for men none of this 'but some of them are good!' bullshit#men are entitled to nothing from us#and if you try to prove me wrong then you are just proving my point if you have nothing good to say then simply keep scrolling#ok? ok.

DPXDC Prompt #89
Danny didn’t know what would happen when his parents portal turned on for the first time but this wasn’t it. He accidentally turned it on and the next thing he knew he was in front of this pool of green swirling liquid with this lady named Talia telling him she’d take care of him. The weird thing is he was now half dead with weird ghost powers and he somehow was turned back into a 5 year old. He met a kid the same age as him and the two quickly became inseparable, his name was Damian and even though he was to be the next head of what Danny assumed was a cult, he knew it was but he was in the body of a 5 year old and couldn’t exactly go home like this.
5 years pass and Danny gets sent along with Damian to Gotham to live with Damian’s birth father Bruce Wayne. Danny didn’t want to go at first but Bruce seemed to welcome him with open arms regardless of his background with the league. Everything is going well for the 2 until Danny meets Tim’s secretary, it’s Sam and she absolutely did not know how to handle her now smaller best friend. Tucker is doing an internship at Wayne Tech too.

trying not to start an online fight in a comically inappropriate venue, but people also have some genuinely concerning misconceptions about this, so: if someone tells you that they can't go vegan because of dietary restrictions, you do not know more than they do about those restrictions in question. and they are under no obligation to share personal medical details in order to prove that you are wrong.
moreover, a world in which anyone has to "prove" their need for dietary accommodations to any authority — to say nothing of being denied them a priori because of a refusal to engage with even small scale, ethical animal husbandry — is enacting ableist violence on our bodies. personally, I want nothing more than for for-profit animal agriculture to burn with the rest of capitalism — but you have to understand that telling people like me to "just stop being selfish and stop eating animals" can only be translated as either "only eat things that make you violently ill," or "stop eating even the minimum amount of protein that a human can survive off of."
if you have an impulse to accuse me of overreacting, consider that the refusal of actual medical institutions to take legume and grain allergies seriously has caused me bodily harm throughout my life and to this day — with consequences for my overall lifespan that have yet to be revealed. I am not overreacting.

Here's a doc with a list of what happens in all of the h scenes! This includes kinks, positions, and a quick summary of the rooms. The doc is still far from complete, so help would be appreciated!

ik the common agreement in neurodivergent circles seems to be that we all function better at night but here's to the ones who are on the opposite end of the spectrum. To the early birds who wake at 7 and can't stay up past 10pm. To the ones who are left out of almost every social event bc everything seems to be happening after 8 but you're normally in bed by that point. To the ones who are made fun of bc "only little kids go to bed that early". To the ones who, even if they wanted to, can never seem to find their place among others bc of society's expectation that the real fun only begins after midnight. I see you, I feel you, and I wish you a very same

There was this HP creator on TikTok that I was starting to really like. But then she said that “Snape is not a good guy (OK kinda agree but the way she said it sounded more like “he is a bad or even really bad guy” which is obviously not true) and that he only tried to save Harry which was the least he could do” and this is the part where I was like?!?!?!
He might have started off only trying to save Harry (actually Lily at first) but then he actually tries to save the whole wizarding world. Like remember that time he told Dumbledore “Lately only those I couldn't save.” or when he tried to save Lupin at the beginning of DHp1 or told Phineas Niggelus Black to not call Hermione a mud blood. And let's not forget how he spied for Dumbledore during the first and second war, which is definitely more than the least he could do. I could go on but I think people with enough braincells get that he was not just trying to save that one boy but actively going against Voldemort's values and also kinda his own (or at least the once he was taught as a kid/teen). And like the example with Lupin shows also protecting those who, from his perspective might not deserve his help (considering Remus was a bystander at his bullying who actually had the power and the duty to stop it and also while mostly being civil towards Snape in later years still made his life extremely hard [I still love Remus but let's not ignore his flaws]).
Yes maybe he was a cruel teacher even bully to some of his students (we actually canonically only know of the trio and Neville) but at the same time also beloved and admired by some (mainly Slytherin but considering how badly they were treated by almost everyone else I actually think it's good of Snape to favour them especially considering what he went through during school simply because he was Slytherin. If you have a problem with that, perhaps you should complain first about everyone mistreating the Slytherins before complaining about someone treating them nicely, even if it is unfair).
But besides that his position in the second war (and also the end of the first one) on the good side is clear and not only to save Harry but also everyone he simply could save. And if you don't see it, maybe you should get your eyes checked, or I don't know...

This is just my own musing and I’m sure someone else who knows about the social history of psychiatry/psychology has an actual answer but the more I learn about developmental and relational trauma the more the idea of “mental illness is just weird brain chemicals for no reason 👀” feels like a devil’s bargain we made as a culture. Like, stigma around common mental health issues can start to lift as long as we can agree to look at it in a vacuum and don’t poke around too much.
And that’s parts of that agreement that are very limiting and slows systemic change but at the same time it feels protective and in a way I’m glad I can hide under it? “A lot of people are anxious / depressed just because ” allows for privacy and selective disclosure.

Please reblog for more exposure! Also, this isn't an offer to start debates in my replies or reblogs. Express your opinions as loudly and perhaps violently as you'd like, but just to yourselves, not at one another. If you try to start an argument, regardless of what side you're on, I'm blocking you. This is just to gather Tumblr's general opinion.
Anyone on either side of the debate can interact with this post, given that this is a neutral space.
