Yes yes I agree that if Percy should've remembered anyone it should've been Sally, but please, please, please understand that a) Hera was actively fucking with his memories, it's not that Annabeth was who he remembered, it was that Annabeth was who Hera wanted him to remember and b) the reason was because Annabeth has ties to California!! And Hera needed Percy to go there. If Percy remembered anyone else, he would've been headed straight for NYC and her whole "switch the boys" thing wouldn't have worked.
Yeah, part of the Wolf House training is making the journey from the Wolf House to Camp Jupiter but Percy isn't headed there because that's the plan, he's headed there because his memories tell him that Annabeth is connected to it. If his memories said "your mom is in New York", he would've said fuck the plan and walked in the opposite direction of where he was supposed to go.

[Text ID: #this made me think about my marie raped pluto hc again #he definitely loves hazel #his relationship with marie is likely way more complicated no matter how you look at it #pjo #pjo text posts #text posts #hades (pjo) #nico di angelo #bianca di angelo #hazel levesque /end ID]
I actually came up with the concept after the first time I read SoN, but forgot about it until last year. The idea is that when Marie summoned Pluto, she trapped him as well and refused to free him until he agreed to give her the wealth she wanted, which she wound up taking in the forming Hazel. Like he warned her about the weight of the curse her greed would cause, so she found a loophole that would work in her favour. Basically, "Okay, well surely a child of his would be exempt from such a curse? And if not, they would not be completely mortal and so would be able to withstand it."
So she rapes him repeatedly, which he is powerless to stop since he's trapped at her discretion. When he is finally freed, he speaks nothing of it because he loves his children and has zero interest in them being involved in any fallout once his family discovers what happened, no matter how they came into the world.
And Hades/Pluto is notoriously a "I deal with my shit on my own" kind of person anyway, so if it weren't for the fact that he suddenly comes back with a new kid with someone none of them knew about while also refusing to explain where he vanished of to for several months, they probably wouldn't have figured it out.
Persephone/Proserpina is not happy and her relationship with Hecate is incredibly strained for a few decades. She loves Hazel even if she despises her mother though. However if she knew about it before Hazel was born, then Hazel would not be born because Marie would be very dead.
I don't think Pluto is classically traumatized by the event the way many people would be (not because he's a god, but due to how I view him and his ability to compartmentalize things that happen to him), but being around Hazel can be uncomfortable at times because it's still a fucked up thing that happened to him. Nonetheless he does adore her and is reluctant to admit it when she pushes him on it as he knows it will greatly affect how she views her mother (with whom she already has a complicated relationship with).
Hazel definitely struggles with it quite intensely once she does find out. While her upbringing was difficult, ultimately she loves her mother enough to look past the abuse because she believes, in the end, her mother loves her and that is enough. But now the love she clung to in the midst of all her mother's erratic behaviour feels tainted. She is an active, living reminder of an atrocity against her father, and, when compared to Nico, who was an outcome of love and consent, she feels tainted too.
I wrote a couple fics about it a while back as well.
Pluto telling Hazel about it
Nico comforting Hazel in the aftermath
I feel like Hades/Pluto only falls in love rarely, so even before the oath he always had less demigod children than the others (and even now that the oath is gone he won't have any more for a good long while) but when he does, he loves deeply.
Hades stayed with Maria long enough to have two kids with her, and he didn't leave in between like Zeus did with Beryl after Thalia was born. I read somewhere that he stayed with the di Angelos until Nico was a toddler; I don't remember if it's canon or not but if it is I think it fits. I assume he helped them get to America because travel overseas, especially to an enemy country, was, well, difficult to put it mildly (especially considering Bianca and Nico presumably couldn't go by either sky or sea). He personally warned Maria, and from the sound of it that was not the first time they were having a similar conversation. He offered to shelter her and their children in the Underworld, to build her an entire palace. He was so devastated by her death that he cursed the Oracle. More than fifty years later he was still grieving her so much that he sent armies of monsters to get Thalia in revenge for Zeus killing Maria. He had Bianca and Nico dipped in the Lethe, sent to the Lotus Hotel, sent Alecto to get them out of the hotel, got them into school with presumably all the Mist and paperwork forgery that entailed (although then left them to their own devices, instead of sending them to camp or something). Any other god would have stopped caring so much about their welfare once they were in the Lotus Hotel, and possibly before that.
As for Pluto, Hazel never met him until she was thirteen, but it seems that Marie didn't want him around anyway (in fairness, she might not have wanted him around BECAUSE he'd left her and Hazel, I don't know which came first). But when Hazel was born he was "so pleased and proud" that he offered Marie literally any wish it was within his power to grant, and even though he knew what she asked for would only bring trouble he gave it to her anyway. He had apparently had the Levesques under his protection all this time, which I think is why Hazel never mentions ever seeing a monster during her childhood, even though you'd think a child of one of the Big Three would be a major target. He personally came to ask Marie not to go to Alaska, instead of sending a minion, but did not force her not to go. He gave Hazel a birthday present of pencils and drawing paper - which means he already knew she liked drawing, so he'd clearly been keeping an eye on her. He intentionally turns a blind eye to Hazel's resurrection, despite it literally going against his entire domain and everything he stands for as the Lord of the Dead.
the thing about hades/pluto is that (always speaking of the pjo version ofc) he does love his children. hazel, bianca, nico. he has shitty ways of expressing things, undoubtedly, but he seems to be much more into what they do, where they are, and if they're okay! he protects them even unknown to them
did hades love maria di angelo? 100%, nobody would doubt that. when he's talking to her about taking them to the underworld or the casino, she's very comfortable, they're both very mushy, the kids are not paying attention (they would be if hades being there was such an uncommon event), clearly he's been around --if not as a family, then enough that the novelty of his presence has long worn off--
did pluto love marie levesque? idk. she summoned him somehow, not really looking for him in particular, but eh, you get what you get. he clearly has been following hazel's life, but his relationship with marie doesn't look as if it was ever loving. it's even implied marie only wanted him bc he looked "fancy" and she wanted to be rich, and a "queen", did pluto love her anyway in return?

Something about Leah and Walker’s EXPRESSIONS during this episode. Especially the scenes where they’re fighting. There’s just something so somber and disheartening about them.
We’re seeing them getting traumatized as young children in real time. They have the weight of the world on their shoulders, and they don’t understand how to cope with it.

Powers Jason and Thalia could have that I regularly think about (usually in regards to Jason or my OCs with similiar powers):
Flying
Electrokinesis or whatever it's called: basically just can control lightning, wind, clouds, the sky, etc
Related to the above: lightning is electricity. Nerves are electricity. Piss them off and find yourself burning from the inside out. Find yourself being controlled like a puppet as your nerves fire off the wrong messages to your muscles and make you do things you don't want to do (kind of like blood bending)
Also they can rip the air out of your lungs
Can create storms: tornados, rainstorms, hail, gail force winds, hurricanes, lightning storms, etc
Zeus/Jupiter is the god of the sky, the sun and stars are in the sky so they can create their own light. Probably on a lesser scale than Apollo's children but yeah
Law inducement: Can force their personal rules on other people. Say Thalia believes very intensely that new and younger Hunters must be accompanied by an older Hunter. Well now you believe very intensely the same. Can be used to force enemies to join your side or to make them punish themselves if they broke a rule
Related to the above - logic manipulation: think of someone disagreeing with Jason's plan. Well he's the king, he's in charge. All he has to do is convince them he's right
Extreme sense of moral justice - black and white attitude to things (hahaha, autistic behaviour lmao). Also because of this they have a very much "you are wrong, I am right" attitude to disagreements and it is very difficult to get them to see the other side of things once they've made up their mind
Inherent leadership skills. People feel compelled to follow them and do what they say. Works well with war-related demigods like Ares/Mars, Athena, Bellona. Doesn't mesh well with Poseidon and Hades's children as the ocean will never be orderly and death cannot be controlled - requires more effort to get them in line and I like to think they can break out of easier than other people
Also related to the above: order manipulation. Say the army is out of whack? A few snapped demands and and everyone is working like a well-oiled machine. Throw a deck of cards into the air and they fall into a perfect stack. That kind of thing
Heightened senses using the air around them - can hear/smell from far distances. I headcanon that Jason, as a wolf child, is more attuned to using this power and often forgets to turn it off which leads to its own privacy issues. They can also use the air to touch - it's a different sensory thing from physical touch. Again Jason is more attuned to using this power and often does so to reach out to his friends when they're closeby
They're like a battery. The air is all around them. The sky is there. Winds whip around them and it only makes them stronger. They can summon lightning from the sky and when it hits them, it's like a power-up
Healing using air - a favourite headcanon of mine. Percy can heal himself in the water? Cool. Thalia and Jason can heal themselves with air. They have advanced healing when they're above ground, more so than most demigods, but if they want to speed it up they can use concentrated bursts of air like a bandage over the wound
Also relayed to the moral justice/law inducement: punishments. They feel like they must enact or have someone else enact punishments on rule-breakers. The more important the rule, the worse the punishment. This can be very dangerous in the event the rule that is broken is stupid
i.e. Thalia has a personal rule against eating dinner without cleaning up first. She will follow this as strictly as she can (and might not eat dinner if she can't clean up because of this). When other Hunters don't clean up, even mildly like washing their hands before eating, she feels the urge to punish them for rule-breaking. Depending on how important the rule is, her idea of justice could be forcing them to wash up after everyone else OR it could be killing them
they feel so fucking strongly about their rules that it nearly blinds them to all else (again, autistic behaviour, lmao)
I feel like people very much downplay the extent of what Zeus/Jupiter's kids can do and I don't know if it's because Rick didn't put any real thought into Jason and Thalia's powers or because people just sort of reduce Zeus down to his lightning bolt - I think people also often forget he's the god of law and order.
Anyway, I have an OC and a story (original, not fanfic) very much based on the above powers after I fell into a hole thinking about them so like, I could go on forever about it, their applications, consequences, etc.
the Big 3 kids power scale is immensely funny to me. Cause like. Percy and Nico could cause the apocalypse if they wanted to with little to no effort. They could accidentally kill somebody and barely notice. They could cause a natural disaster with a sneeze. Hazel? Could absolutely do the same but has way more control over her powers than they do, and has more specialized powers rather than their generalized powers, and also generally simply chooses not to. If she wanted to make an earthquake she could, but she doesn’t so she won’t. Thalia? As far as we know, basically just a tesla coil with an attitude. She’s never done anything more than that. Jason? Same but he can also do windy things. and then Tyson has no demigod powers because he’s just a cyclops and Bianca we never got to see the powers of except getting to keep her memories while a ghost, some implications of dream manipulation, and effects from the Lethe eventually wear off for her.
Like, technically it’s probably because Zeus/Jupiter has less forces-of-nature aspects and more like, law/business/order stuff. So Jason and Thalia just kind of get the short end of the stick in terms of physical abilities. But also it’s incredibly funny what a stark difference is between them and the other Big 3 kids. Like oh, sorry, you can only make some sparks. Meanwhile your buddy over there got startled by a bug and now it looks like Night Of The Living Dead, or a flood. Whoops.

once jason remembers the exact location of camp jupiter and is able to provide it to the others, everyone's like we have to wait until leo is finished his giant boat then we'll go to camp jupiter and get percy, and grover's like cool beans, understood, 100% gonna wait for the giant boat to be finished, anyway i gotta go do a lord of the wild thing, don't wait up, bye!
cue him staking out camp jupiter with a pair of binoculars for a few weeks, seeing nico pop in and out, bothering him abt it and then abt percy who nico genuinely hasn't seen yet, and bing bang boom percy finally shows up carrying hera/juno on his back and grover's just "alrighty, my time to shine" and careens into him at full speed once percy's past the river and juno is just "wait is that the goat"
percy, no memories but a strong gut feeling: i think you're my best friend
grover on the verge of tears: WE ARE BEST FRIENDS
percy, clueless but enjoying the hug: oh my gods that's fucking awesome

Percy: Physically, I'm in California. Mentally? I'm back in New York and sitting in Grover's lap while we play video games.
Annabeth: I can play video games with you?
Percy, mournfully staring out the window like a wife whose husband has gone off to war: It won't be the same.

He doesn't even notice that it's happening. His stomach goes first and he barely registers the lack of hunger. His kidneys, his liver, his intestines. No sense in having them when he cannot consume. His father pauses one day and looks at him, plate full of food, and asks, Are you feeling alright?
Nico's brows furrow and his tongue feels empty. I'm fine, he whispers. And he doesn't register than his voice isn't the way it used to be. It sounds more like ghostly chatter than a living tone.
His lungs go next. Then his brain. He's on mechanics now, the barest bones of automation. The rise and fall of his soul keeps him moving, takes over all other functions. He's different. Can't speak. His bones are shattering inside him, painless shards feeding him what he lacks. His fingers are stiff nonetheless. His body still moves.
Everyone questions it quietly, never to his face. They wonder why he's stranger than he had been. But they kiss his cheeks anyway and never ask.
Things are simple. Pulled into his still beating heart and the pulse of his black and blue soul. They both pound against a ribcage that slowly turns into shadows and vomits out through his pores. Inky darkness lines his floors. People frown when they step inside. They know its not proper darkness and they refrain from touching it as much as they can.
His skin is colder and colder. His eyes darker and darker. There's only the presence of blood from cuts and his pounding heart that gives evidence he's still alive, even as he stops eating, breathing, speaking, sleeping.
He lies in wait on his bed and counts his heartbeats, feels the rush of his pulse under thin skin.
When the blood in his veins dry up, all that's left is his damnable soul. His heart leaks black through the palms of his hands, smears cruel against white skin and dirtied clothes. He vomits up the rest, through the lining of his throat, a chunky fleshy mess that's more black than red and bats it away into darkness. It melts and finds a home in the shadows.
Even when everything is gone, he doesn't know how to stop. So he doesn't. He keeps going.
He always will.
Tw: gory, i think? It’s just medical…
.
We have only seen Nico fade on the outside. Hands, skin, sort of. Have you ever entertained the thought of, idk, his insides fading away first?
Like. Losing his internal organs one by one?

Percy proposes spontaneously one night and Annabeth says no and he's like "...why" and she squints at him annoyed
"because I have my own proposal plans and an actual ring. So shush up and sit on your Yes for another couple months"
Percy is extremely annoying over the next couple months. He crafts makeshift rings out of whatever is lying around. Paper leftover from straws, bottle cap rings, the dying flowers from the vase on the windowsill. He will randomly propose to her with them, never in public, he wouldn't do that, but in front of their friends, before bed, when she's in the shower, as she's working are all viable options and she flatly responds "no" every time
Her proposal is pretty special and definitely worth the rejection and the wait. His heart thrums and he blurts yes before she even gets to her knee on the cool sand. She rolls her eyes and asks properly anyway, only to be tackled with a stream of yes's pressed against her mouth. It takes them a couple seconds after to find the ring where Percy knocked it into the sand. But it's a great proposal and a beautiful handcrafted ring.
It becomes even better when she pulls out a glass jar filled with all of Percy's "rings" and smiles back at him.
"You get a yes this time too," she says, pulling out one of the rings and letting Percy fit it around her finger. It's a shitty seashell ring he made at Estelle's afterschool program. She didn't want to leave until she was finished with her picture, so Percy sat down on the tiny chairs and tried to string wire through pre-drilled holes and beads. He made her a bracelet, made Annabeth a ring.
It sits thick and awkward on her hand, goofy compared to the smooth celestial bronze on Percy's finger shining in the quiet moonlight. But she's happy, and so is he.

Percy:
Percy: Get out of my house.
