listen I understand why some wanted t100 to end with s4 but if it had ended then we would've never gotten 6x10 which was an amazing episode especially for bellarke!!!! it definitely should've ended with s6 no question but I would've been mad af if we didn't get s6 because we had some amazing bellarke moments in s6!! and sorry but a better showrunner would've made them endgame!! all that buildup and that journey wasted because jroth was a petty pos! they were supposed to be endgame the actors themselves said it and I'll always be bitter over it!!!! they are my biggest ship robbery, I was so sure they would be nobody could convince me otherwise ugh

Y'all, I hate to say it, but no, Nandermo did not "go canon", in an "alternate universe" or through "implications" or otherwise. They were making fun of us. That was the point of all the little nudges and open questions that were quickly squashed. That was the point of the hypnosis ending. The point of that hypnosis was quite literally "Here, let's give the perfect fake wish-fulfillment ending to parts of our fanbase" (which is why there were three. They're fake. That's the point. The point is that they are supposed to be fantasies to appeal to people's hopes for the show).
Having Nandor and Guillermo as a classic sitcom couple set to a laugh track in a universe where none of the other characters exist was a jab at shippers who wanted Nandermo to be canon and cared more about that than the other characters or the premise of the show. They were making fun of "and they lived happily ever after" type fanwork. They were making fun of people who, in their eyes, ignored the irreverence and violence and black comedy of the show in order to make fluffy slash content. They were explicitly saying: "This is how we see you, and this is how we see what you want from this show, and we are telling you that it won't happen and we in fact have contempt for the very concept."
Why do you think they kept baiting the ship until the literal last lines of the show? They were making fun of us. They were saying "Ha! You still thought this would happen? After years of us saying it won't, to your face? Idiots." It's a comedy show, and they were making shippers the butt of the joke. They've been doing it for seasons now.
This is literally what Supernatural did back in the day. And nobody said that they made Destiel canon when they had an in-universe/alternate-universe stage play where the actors "explore Destiel". Fans back then recognized that it was a joke at their expense. That's what this is. Same as what happened in BBC Sherlock that one time, where in-universe conspiracy theorists said that Sherlock was in love with Moriarty (a ship the creators deliberately baited, mind you, same as they have here), specifically for the purpose of laughing at and making fun of that theory.
I'm so sorry, guys. I know you wanted to hope. I know you wanted to believe that the things the writers said at that con weren't true, but they were. I know because I wanted to hope too, even when I knew full well it wouldn't happen. They've been plain about how they feel about the ship for years. They saw it as a joke, one that drew in viewers, but was objectionable at its core. And they've followed through on that by baiting and jabbing up until the very end.

like Callum made the right choice in 5x08 for his character and the thematic narrative. Thematically, Rayla cannot permanently die (she's too sacrificial) nor can she have a partner, honestly, who'd be willing to sacrifice her like that. Callum also cannot be willing to sacrifice her like that for the life of a stranger dragon he's never met, or not take the dark magic risk; not only is this how he's always clearly been ever since S1 ("But not everything [has changed]: I would do anything for you") but doing so would make him exactly like the worst of Viren: "If you have to choose between [the world] or your brother, pick the egg." Callum is having a dark path arc, but he's not having an antagonist or villain arc.
That said, there's a reason Callum is Chained Up when he gives the spell and locked in a damp dark brig and has to use the snake-chain spell specifically, because TDP loves its irony: what gets more ironic than freeing yourself from chains in order to free and save your girlfriend, when you know in doing so you're chaining yourself further and further to the main villain and his will in doing so? When you know that you would?
There's a reason 5x08 ends with Callum looking scared and sad and the shot of the snakes, because those aren't fun things (hi Ocean arcanum epiphany) to learn or fully accept about yourself. There's a reason that what characters justify with "I had no choice" or "this is the right thing to do" isn't always the literal case. "I had to, to save my friends" or you could've left it. You could've tried something else than dark magic. But you didn't, because you thought that was the one thing you could do in order to not lose your friend, so you did it; You Made Your Choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For example, if we're talking what happened in 5x08 in a "this would keep The World 100% safe" type of deal? Callum fucked up twice. He gave the spell and he didn't know Finnegrin would be dead or unable to use it by episode's end. He did dark magic — with no idea that it wouldn't let Aaravos automatically possess him in that moment — because a world where he didn't even try and save her was worse to him. But it was a risk! Both of those things were massive risks!
Just because they didn't amount to the extreme consequences they could have had, yet, doesn't mean that they won't, since soo much of TDP is just "this thing had unforeseen/unwanted consequences as a result of the choices you made" (the loss of Rayla's team, Harrow's death, Sarai's death, the possession at all, Karim's banishment, Zubeia's corruption, Claudia's 5 season long descent, and I'm sure going to the Starscraper next season, just to name a few quick examples off the top of my head). As Harrow says:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
H: But I do know I will pay the price for the choices I've made. I've done terrible things. I thought they were necessary. Now I don't know.
Rayla thought she had to leave; she didn't. Rayla thought she had to find Viren, twice; that wasn't true. She chose to leave both times. She also chose to come back both times. She could've doubled down, but she didn't. Viren, finally, didn't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every step forward is a choice.
That's true for Every Single Character in the show.
To deny them that is to deny the agency they do have in the circumstances they find themselves in; Soren could've not stabbed his father, Terry could've chosen to tackle rather than stab Ibis, Viren could've chosen to grieve his son. That doesn't mean they didn't have good reasons to do the things they were doing, that doesn't mean their justifications weren't strong, that doesn't mean they were necessarily wrong to do so. But they made Choices.
So did Callum. And he chose what regrets, sacrifices, and losses he could live with, in order to save the person he decided he couldn't live without.
Tumblr media
It's that simple, and that complicated.

The only Byler doubt I have is that the writers are going to chicken out.
Is Byler set up? Yes. Has it been set up from the very beginning? Absolutely. Are there hundreds and hundreds of intentional hints thrown in throughout the seasons? Definitely. Can the writers say “fuck that, idc” and do whatever they want because they’re in complete control? 100%
Is that going to happen? I doubt it. They have no reason to tear away queer representation besides a bit of homophobic backlash, but they’ll get backlash either way. But they can. They don’t need a reason. And that possibility keeps me up at night.

It’s gotta mean something that Season Six has Aaravos petrifying Claudia into his pawn in the intro, but always with her design from the end of the last season, which doesn’t reflect that from the start of this one her hair is mostly white and only three episodes in she has it cut short when she mends the only relationship she has left and begins reconsidering dark magic. So the Claudia Aaravos has control over is not completely the one we have now. Please. That has to be significant. Please let my girl get better.

my thoughts on the wwdits final are very mixed. on one hand, i understand what they were trying to do with the ending and how the characters lives will go on without the doc crew filming. none of the episode arcs are finished and there’s no real conclusion because the crew abruptly left. but on the other hand, as an audience that feels unsatisfying. nothing was wrapped up, no goodbyes or send offs. it just stopped. and i think that’s a completely valid criticism no matter what they intended.
if they wanted that ending to work i think they should have built up to it a little more. like many have suggested, setting up that the doc is ending earlier in the season. i personally think they should have hinted that funding was running out by slowly cutting side characters screentime and using less cameras. by the end there’s only one camera left and that’s when they break the news. guillermo’s sad and confused but everyone’s like “how did you not notice?” it would have made it feel less rushed and given a reason for guillermo to join cannon capital. it also would explain why so many side characters were sidelined this season. sean gets one ep and then isn’t really seen again. the guide is hardly present. the baron isn’t seen after ep 9. i think they could have played a lot into it.
another idea i had about changing the final was that colin robinson is revealed to be behind the doc. like a post credit scene where he tells the camera that the doc was all his doing and he just cut the funding for it. the doc was just an excuse to always have someone around to drain or reveal that he can even drain through the camera so he’s been draining us, the audience, the whole time. or maybe he reveals that he’s been the one editing the doc and he’s been cutting out all the real juicy bits (like a nandermo secret relationship). he got bored with it or got what he wanted out of it. maybe even a tease like “in a couple years i’ll probably do this all again.” implying that he was behind the older doc as well.
i just feel like something silly like colin ending the doc for nefarious reasons and implying that he edits it would have at least made more sense and felt somewhat like closure. like colin’s mischief was the reason we didn’t get to see a goodbye. he could even admit that they filmed some but this would be a better drain. eyes flash blue and the rest of the credits roll. colin has the last laugh.

☆GET TO KNOW ME♡: [5/?] Favorite Shows
Doctor Who (2005-Present)
Winning? Is that what you think it's about? I'm not trying to win. I'm not doing this because I want to beat someone or because I hate someone or because I want to blame someone. It's not because it's fun, and god knows it's not because it's easy. It's not even because it works because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it's right! Because it's decent! And above all, it's kind. It's just that. Just kind.

stray thought but why didn’t they just let giles die in spiral? like... other than make buffy miserable what does he even do in the later seasons? I feel like it would've been better to just let him go out on a good note than waste away as a character
