sunghoon stands up , also excusing himself from his group as he works his way to the back stage restrooms, occasionally tripping on a step or saying hello to another idol whilst passing by. alass he made it to the bathroom where you had already been waiting. quickly checking his surroundings to make sure noone was going to see him follow you into the bathroom.

you see the door peek open and your met by your boyfriend "there you are! i bet you her-" your words and breath are taken as your pushed up against the bathroom wall. "i cant help myslef around you Y/N your just so good looking" is the last thing you hear before sunghoons lips are pressed against yours, hands on your waist as your hands wrap around over his shoulders.

pressing you harder against the wall as he deepens the kiss, his tounge finding new places in your mouth, hands running wild over eachothers bodies heavy breathing and occasional small moans or grunts to be heard. the euphoric feeling of eachothers mouths filling your bodies that makes you both loose track of time.

pulling away from the kiss yet a small line of saliva keeping the two of you connected, followed by a laugh and a light peck on your lips.

"now how are we gonna get out of here without being caught" you mention, hearing other groups gather down in the hallway, the sound of vlogs, episodes and lives being made ment cameras are everywhere. "who cares if people figure out we are dating?" sunghoon leans against the sink in a thought. "yes but who in the hell wants to announce that by getting clipped being in the same bathroom??" you laugh at your very unfunny yet funny joke.

I’d like your opinion on a few theories about something Viv teased about the next episodes. She said that they culminate in the ending of an arc they’ve been building up for awhile. I have 3 theories what that could be

1. Blitz-overcoming his low self esteem and demons, able to move on

2. Stolas- he stands up for himself against the goetia, possibly stripped of his title.

3.stolitz- they finally talk, possibly confess and reconcile

Or it could be a combo of all 3. But it sounds like she’s talking about a specific arc, and while I’d like for it to be Stolitz development, I have a feeling it’s a specific character arc.

What do you think?

Humm ok (again obligatory warning about head injury, so sorry about typos, or not connecting things properly ect).

But kinda think all 3 are getting advanced, but only 1 of them finished by the end of this season.

1)Blitz-overcoming his low self esteem and demons, able to move on.

Well we've definitely had some of that Oops and Blitz getting the unattainable of Fizz forgiving him, and being his best friend again.

And I think we're going to see some of that trauma get explored in Ghostfuckers.

It's also likely that it's going to be the episode with Blitz's hearing he makes everything worse from evil Millie.

But I don't think that's going to be neatly packed away, because Barbie's met to be back in s3.

It also doesn't quite make sense if that's not the main focus of the last two episodes. Mastermind and Sinsmas don't seem to be able that. Though we do appear to have the least clips about those.

But honestly mostly because this show understands trauma is with us for the long haul. We can unpack it, make it lighter to carry, but it's always with us.

2) Stolas- he stands up for himself against the goetia, possibly stripped of his title.

Could be. A big theme is Stolas learning he's allowed to choose, but also setting up one hell of a backlash for stepping out of line.

We've had a theme of people standing up to the powerful.

With Blitz standing up to Ozzie for M&M,

Loona standing up to Bee,

Fizz standing up to Mammon.

Stolas either telling Paimon, or the Goetias council, that he's getting the divorce no matter what they do; could play into that theme.

The tile striping seems fairly likely, but possible down the road. Maybe suspension first?

But again I don't think that's going to be nice wrapped up either. With the trail plot starting in series 3.

Assuming that'll be about the book deal, because chekhov's gun says it's gotta blow up in their faces at somepoint.

Also Stolas coming out in his 30s was always going to be a bit messy.

Can't really see that being fully over in a couple of episodes because this show gets trauma, and missed developmental stages and secondary adolescence take a while to work through.

(Take it for someone who was parentified from an early age, you don't really get to move on till you've dealt with it. Even if it's as small as being silly every now and again. Or just keeping a teddy.)

Pretty sure this is why Stolas has to hug himself to sleep. (Link for people that have no clue what I'm on about here)

3)stolitz- they finally talk, possibly confess and reconcile.

Yer this would be my bet for the one that's getting nicely tied up.

Best guess it'll be them both admitting they love eachother.

Because Blitz has spent the first 2 series pretending as hard as possible that he doesn't like Stolas, and definitely doesn't love him.

(Despite everyone around him, but Stolas, able to tell he's head over heels for his fluffy owl).

I'm not expecting miracles with our sweet dummies though.

That's kinda all I'm expecting to sort.

With them probably not full getting together because of issues they need to work though, the divorce, Stella's abuse and plot to kill Stolas, and Via being against them dating ect.

I love your take on Alastor and Pathological Demand Avoidance. Delving into what we know and have seen with Alastor thus far; what exactly do you think his intentions are toward Charlie and the hotel?

I’ve been avoiding answering this ask for . . . a while now. For one, I just honestly don’t know. And two, who in this fandom hasn’t already discussed this? But you asked, so I’ll tell you what I think.

I think there is a full on chasm between what Alastor’s intentions are going into episode 1, season 1, and what we will see him actually do come season 2.

I believe his intentions towards her is to use her power to help gain his own freedom and to him, that does not necessarily mean hurting or betraying her. He’d see it as a weird kind of partnership. But that could get fucked up and messy really quick.

I truly don’t think Alastor means anyone in that hotel, including Charlie, any real harm, at least not to start. For fans that have not only seen the pilot and the show but read the official comics, we get a really full picture of a guy who loves power and violence and enjoys bringing fear to his victims but we see the same guy use a very strange and twisted moral compass to stick up for those “of a fairer means.” He abhors bullies and people who are mean just to be mean. So while he’s canonically a serial killer and cannibal (although it’s still debated on whether or not he was a cannibal in life or just became one when he went to Hell – that’s not really important here) I just don’t see any of the people of the hotel being “his type” or his “demographic” of people he would willingly harm. (I’ve used this theme over and over again in pretty much all of my fics. My kink is complicated anti-heros and so far, Alastor fits that bill.)

Add to that, we actually see him enjoying being seen as a sort of “hero” in Dad Beat Dad when he sticks up for Mimzi and the safety of the hotel. In fact, I think getting to be the hero is exactly what he sees in his relationship with Mimzi and possibly even Niffty. They give him something to protect and they admire him for it. They enjoy getting to stand behind him as he eviscerates any threat to them. And in return, he enjoys the violence and the praise he gets. And I can see him leaning into that roll at the hotel, if really given the chance.

What’s going to determine what he does going forward in Season 2 is finding out why he went there in the first place – I think we all know at this point it has nothing to do with “entertainment” for him. And who owns his soul and how much freedom he actually has.

There’s a variety of reasons to have a really complicated, beautifully done villain arc for him in upcoming seasons.

He could be forced to hurt those at the hotel against his will by whoever owns his soul.

He could decide that despite his caring for them, they are not worth dying for, and betray them willingly to save his own hide.

He could decide the end is the worth the means and betray Charlie in order to achieve some unknown goal of his – gain his freedom, be reunited with his mom, get more power, etc etc.

Whatever the reason ends up being, I would bet money that season 2 is going to show Alastor going far beyond his own “intentions.” I desperately want to see that man push his own boundaries, cross his own finely drawn lines, and do something that leaves even him going “my god, what have I done?” and then have to fight and crawl and breakdown in order to redeem himself. (And by redeem, I do not mean in the eyes of Heaven, but by his own standards. I will throw hands if he actually ends up in Heaven, let him stay my fucked up little deer man please Viv.)

Tl;dr version: His intensions towards Charlie are neutral but what he’ll end up doing is probably going to be far more nefarious than what he originally set out to do.

Reasons Why I Need a Sexy JoongDunk BL

If you know me, then you’ll know that it’s actually kind of funny that I’m asking for this. Me. A sex-repulsed leaning asexual who, for the most part, tends to stay away from (overly) sexy and/or horny series. And yet I really want a sexy JoongDunk series. A messy, Only Friends-type of series even, perhaps.

Make no mistake, though. I don’t actually want it for me, oh no. No, I want a sexy JoongDunk series for them, for their sake. Because I feel like they’d have a whole lot of fun with it.

And here’s why I think so:

Reason #1: Dum Dum

Definitely the most obvious reason, but the LOL Fanfest Dum Dum performance: the fact that the choreography was like That. And the fact that it was their idea to switch up who bites who for day 2:

Reason #2: “We’ve never done this before”

The way they kept bringing up how Hidden Agenda is more mature than Star in My Mind and how there were scenes that they’d never done before*, it seemed to have been a big deal for them.

Reason #3: “Favorite episode of Hidden Agenda? Episode 8!!”​

The way Joong immediately said episode 8 was his favorite, smiling expectantly at Dunk...

...and then was very adamant when Dunk couldn’t decide between episodes 7 and 8:

Considering their comments of how “episode 8 is special” because they’ve “never done anything like this before”... Well, dare I bet it’s their favorite episode because of the ending specifically. Unless maybe they were particularly excited about the stalker story line. I don’t think they’d done that before either.

Reason #4: Ep8 watch party live on Instagram

The way they actually sat down and went live on Instagram in order to watch, react to, and comment on the entirety of episode 8.

And considering Dunk’s comment at the beginning of this live about how it’s “something we've never done before” I’m absolutely convinced they chose ep8 to react to specifically because of the ending lmao. Unless, of course, they were extremely hyped about the stalker plot. There were no creepy stalker plots in Star in My Mind, nor do I remember any significant stalking in Joong’s other works. Or maybe the two of them were referring to the scene where Zo bites Joke’s arm. I don’t remember any biting from Star in My Mind, so who knows, it might be that. What else was special in ep8? Oh right, Joke punched the stalker. That can’t have been the “we’ve never done this before” thing, though, considering Joong was literally in a Mafia series before. Also, he punched Pepper in Star in My Mind. My theory still stands.

Reason #5: “It was more intense than this”

In that instagram live they also dropped that a lot was cut from that scene and that it was supposed to be more intense than this. Uh, boys...? What kind of choreography did y’all on set come up with for this scene exactly??

(I can’t stop laughing at Dunk's face when he agrees with Joong saying that a lot was cut. He looks like he suddenly bit into a very sour lemon lmao)

In conclusion:

Clearly they had a lot of fun with the Dum Dum performance and it seems that they were very excited about getting to do something more mature with Hidden Agenda, and also getting the the chance to do something that they’ve “never done before” in ep8 specifically. So my point stands: I think they’d have a blast playing a sexy series together. I want it for them.

a couple of interesting things on that latest panel re: the current status of Lestat... Sam claims that in the first 2 seasons, there isn't even a moment where we see the "real" Lestat. Do you think that means we won't even catch a glimpse of him in the modern era? Maybe the most we'll get is some kind of hint that he's around, but his story won't properly start until season 3 kicks off? The other thing I noted was Rolin saying it was Sam's harlequin rehearsal that made him realize he was going to have to do rockstar!Lestat. So I guess that plotline wasn't part of his original design and we can (probably!) rule out rockstar Lestat being actively incorporated into this season, either in the 80's or the present? I know we have to take what they say with a pinch of salt, but I seriously hope we get more than just a vague hint of present-day Lestat this season!

So for one I would like to note, that for me the story started with episode 1, and in a quite the ingenious way, because the POV and memory angle allows for a very messy dive into the POV angle of the books. I mean, we literally can dive into emotions and manipulations of other characters there... I love that.

As per Lestat being there in Dubai... I had hoped for Lestat to be there in episode 8, but given that episode 8 apparently ends in a cliffhanger... it might be ending with the elevator pinging *snickers*

IDK. I think what Sam is trying to say there is that we cannot have seen the "real" Lestat yet, because of the POV angle - the only "real Lestat" we'll see will be on that couch in Dubai - I mean, his own POVs will also be colored by his perception. I bet it will be up to the audience to correlate that with what they see in Dubai, and then go from there.

As per that rockstar comment - I think that was a) tongue-in-cheek because I don't think you can just skip that part and b)... it was praise.

Rolin is very sly. And sometimes he puts his foot into his mouth, like we all do. And they don't want to spoil.

But yeah, rockstar Lestat was never to be in this season, imho. And even if, then only in flashbacks, but I see them more in s3 or 4.

But I think he was always planned as having happened. Remember Armand's comment re the "mediocre star"? I STILL think that was a jab towards Lestat's little rockstar career, because he was a "mediocre star one hit wonder" there. :)

I like how you write darven I think their relationship is sooo interesting with Darcy being extremely toxic towards riven. I feel like if riven had never gotten with Darcy, and just went straight to musa, their relationship would’ve been much more healthier, but since Darcy was rivens first serious relationship (imo) I think it probably rlly warped rivens mind of what relationships are supposed to be like. And also just how he views himself. (Also I noted that you are also a fellow tears-in-rain enjoyer 😋)

That I am, lol. Hers is actually the first rewrite I ever read! The fact that it's from the guys POV is just sugar on the cream. I do think Darcy having been Riven's first girlfriend (listen, from the character alone I could come up with a myriad of exes for him, but the fact remains that he IS only 17, so the same way I don't accept Bloom having had a serious relationship on Earth before Sky, I don't quite see Riven having exes either) really fucked up his way of looking at relationships and his and Musa's suffered for it, but I also think he's riddled with enough personal drama that they'd manage to make it nice and messy even without Darcy's help. However, the WAY his relationship with Musa is affected with Darcy greatly differs depending on the way it worked. In my usual verse, I actually think it heightens the miscommunication to the 100s because while Musa expects Riven to read her mind basically, Riven LITERALLY IS USED TO HIS GF DOING EXACTLY THAT. Not only that, he's used to just *knowing* what she wants bc she sends him actual palpable telepathic signals. I think several times there was a situation where he extends his palm towards her and she's like "???" and he's like "????" and she's like "?????" and only then does he realize he didn't ask her to hand him the water, he just thought it in his head. Also, some funny shenaningans like the mind conversations in How I Met Your Mother, when they're sending each other signals and are like "hell yea he/she gets it" but they actually had completely different conversations lol. However, if Darcy was outright abusive, then Riven is way worse, way more secretive, and has preemptive bouts of anger because he's pushing back automatically because he thinks he's gonna get pushed. And if Musa is angry about something, he manages to escalate the situation to the nines because instead of just recognizing that his girlfriend is angry and yeah that happens, he thinks he's like, this close to physical violence. Moderation is not something he's familiar with lol. Also, I think he has slight manic episodes where he pretty much disassociates from all issues they may have- and Musa feels like she has to go alongside with it because hey their relationship is turbulent, she'd be crazy if she didn't go along with it when he's actually agreeable, but actually he's the only one actually riding the high and she's clinging along, burying some of the issues that are bothering her until she explodes. BUT I still think they can and will work as a couple and she's the reason why I gave Riven love for music (Darcy's ballet thing came after just to bother Musa, it's there FOR Musa) and the love for music scene. He's not a performer nor does he want to be, but he gets it. And it's the stuff that they just naturally get about each other that keeps the bridge standing while they're working through all the shit they do not get. Because lets be real, these 2 dumdums don't get themselves. How can they fully get each other? And speaking of Riven getting it, I actually bet he was on Melody several times for concerts prior to season 1. As a dragonrider, I actually think he can get tickets for free, backstage access, you name it. (which is ironic bc with his Androsi stipend he absolutely can afford the tickets, but it's always like that isn't it. The rich get it for free lol. Assholes.)

I just finished watching the Untamed with my sister (it took roughly 3 months lol) and I just wanted to write down a barely coherent collection of thoughts I had about it

When I started, I thought "how could you possibly need FIFTY episodes for this story?" and as it went on I kept thinking "how can this take ONLY fifty episodes?". Still now I think they could've used a few more episodes to flesh out some arcs better and the last arc did feel a little rushed

Although I get what happened and where it was left at worked for the story, we were ROBBED of more Husaisang content. I want to see him do necromancy and be clever!

The juniors were genuinely the BEST addition to the story. Not only did it let us see how Lan Zhan was bringing about the future of his clan and raising them with less restrictions, but they were just so cute. They helped the old stubborn cultivators accept change and trust Wei Wuxian more as well! And of course I adore Jin Ling. His relationship with Jiang Cheng may not be the typical sweet and warm uncle-nephew relationship but there is so much love and care there. Jiang Cheng may disguise his care as anger, but because Jin Ling is the same way he sees through it. He tells Wei Wuxian immediately that Jiang Cheng would never hurt him, even if he promises to break his knees every day.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan have the central romantic relationship, sure, but the show writes every relationship with care and importance. Friendships like Wei Wuxian's and Wen Ning's are extremely important, as well as familial ones like Wei Wuxian and his Yunmeng siblings. With that, I think the sibling relationships are done exceedingly well. They are loving but complex and turbulent. Like I don't know any personal details but I bet you that MXTX has siblings 100%.

Honestly my favorite dynamics were Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian, the three sworn brothers (they FASCINATE ME), the whole messy ass Xueyang trio, and Wei Wuxian with the Wen siblings

Is Jin Ling leader now? I hope not, he's too young!

Obviously Jiang Cheng is my favorite. This man can't express any emotion in a healthy way to save his life and I, for one, find it endearing. I don't understand how people genuinely dislike his, especially considering how he was 18-19 when he became leader like.... do you realize how young that is and what that does to someone!!! Anyways, yeah, I don't care, I support his every action even when he's being a bitch

I wasn't expecting him to become so important tbh but I really adore Lan Xichen. He's genuinely the kindest. He is Wangxian's #1 wingman, even when they both threaten the image of his entire clan that he leads. He extends nothing but pure kindness towards Jin Guangyao even when he was at his lowest rank. Sure, his trust may have been his downfall at the end, but I admire him for it all the same

You know who else I admire a lot? JIANG YANLI!!!! Her blind 100% complete trust for Wei Wuxian even at his very worst moments is so commendable and I adore her for it. He NEEDED that

The music in this show is so damn good. Both the score and the character theme songs! My favorites have to be Wei Wuxian, Xueyang and Jiang Cheng's theme songs, because the voices are so pretty! And Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng's actors sang it themselves too :)

While it has a huge sprawling story, the actual message they tell over and over is quite simple: Kindness is essential. Like, we are given characters like Xueyang and Jin Guangyao that had a similar childhood to Wei Wuxian. Without a parent, abandoned, poor, and looked down upon because of their low status. The reason Wei Wuxian grew up to be a good person is because over and over again, he was treated kindly. Jiang Fengmian brought him into his family and he had siblings that adored him. Jin Guangyao and Xueyang weren't given that kindness and therefore weren't able to give any of it out either.

The golden core transfer reveal was so well done. I knew what had happened but I was SO curious how Jiang Cheng would finally find out. Bless Wen Ning for spilling everyone's tea lol. The way Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan both had flashbacks to moments where Wei Wuxian was seemingly arrogant made them look cruel now. Everyone acted that scene out so WELL

I appreciate the efforts to push against censorship as much as possible. The actors added their own little flavor, small details like Wangxian bowing thrice as married couples do in front of ancestors, framing of certain scenes, and more...

The pacing and set up of this show were done really well! I think starting us out with the post-death Wei Wuxian era worked out so well because we knew some huge details of what had happened, but it left me itching and burning with the need to know how all this could possibly unfold and it really kept my attention the whole time

the distinct architecture and scenery of each clan was so beautiful!

Although I got truly hooked a little later on, I am so fond of the simple times of the Cloud Recesses. They were so young and carefree and that's the only time we really got Huaisang and Wuxian bestie time (which I really miss)

Okay I think that's all I got for now. This show unleashed the unbridled love and obsession for a piece of media I haven't felt in a while

Plot: In the late 90s, a giant spacecraft of unknown origin falls on an island, leading to the creation of the UN Spacy, to both protect earth from a possible alien invasion and to rebuild the spacecraft. 10 years after, the SDF-1 Macross is ready to be launched, and in attendance are Hikaru Ichijyo, a young stunt pilot at the invitation of friend Roy Focker, Lynn Minmay, a waitress in a Chinese restaurant in the city that grew around the Macross during the rebuild process and Misa Hayase, a first lieutenant working on the bridge of the Macross. However, during launch the solar system is invaded by the Zentradi, who identify the Macross as a ship of their former enemies.

Length: 36 episodes + 1 film + 1 OVA

Thoughts: And here's one of the big ones. Hard what may have come to the heads of two Gundam fans to think "what this needs is jet fighters with legs and singing", but I'm guessing saying "we can sell a lot of toys and soundtracks" at a meeting was probably it. How they *convinced* them it could work is another issue, but oh boy, does it work. It pretty much defined what the series would be known for in the following iterations - the variable fighters, an aspiring music star with a connection to protoculture (after all, what is music but an universal language) involved in a love triangle and the tensions between the civilian side of the Macross and it's military leadership in what's often terrifying life-or-death situations.

The weakest point of the story is probably the love triangle itself, making it where all vertices are very wishy washy about their feelings is just messy. Extending the story to the aftermath of the conflict also didn't seem such a good bet for this show (would payoff in terms of exploring the role of the Zentradi in the post-war) and probably would be better served focusing on different characters. Animation varies a lot (unsurprising for a show that may have had more than a handful of studios involved in, including very young Gainax), but the action scenes are pretty thrilling and you can still feel the impact they had on the medium as an whole, if only for the "this machine transforms into another machine" thing. Wonder if that picked up.

Might do a DYRL post separately, but in brief it's a condensed version of the story with some changes (Hikaru is already a rookie pilot and Minmay a up and coming star) and outstanding production values and maybe *the* defining song of the franchise that gives the movie it's title. Flashback 2012, which serves as the epilogue to the story, is a video album featuring Minmei's songs over footage from both series and movie and new sequences planned but not directed showing her final gig at earth, as she boards the Megaroad (captained by Misa), humanity's first colony spaceship. I don't think it replaces the series (for instance, it compresses the Jenius - Fallyna relationship to a bare minimum, and their kids appear all over the place over the rest of the franchise) but it allows you to get to the basics of the story.

Recommended to: fans of big robots and idols

Asking the important question, can singing save the world, which feels very 80s

Unsurprisingly, the music. Iijima is great as Minmei and this role as a virtual idol launched her career and is what best remembered from the show, but Kentaro Haneda's work on incidental music is incredible as well.

Inconsistencies between the TV series and DYRL being attributed in-universe on it being a war film? That works.

Other than the infamous baby tossing scene, the added 9 episodes feel like a complete afterthought and feel the only reason to reignite a love triangle is to change it's shape.

Said triangle narratively is a complete mess.

Some bits of animation were very, VERY rushed.

Ok so this had already been pointed out, but I wanted to point it out again because I find it really interesting.

Both Husk and Angle are on leashes to powerful overlords. They both bond over this, knowing the other is a ‘loser’ tied to a deranged demon. Who uses them for their needs. But you can see that the chains are very different.

Husk who is on Alastor’s leash can be seen with a tighter chain.

While Angles chains are more loose and rusty.

Husk doesn’t have much freedom, he was forced to stay at the hotel, forced to serve drinks, and based on Mimzy's statements, he has been doing that for a while. Husk has been around Alastor a lot, he’s had enough time to learn that Alastor was also on a leash. (Husk never says that to him again, I want you to live.)

Husk losing his soul to alastor which seemed to be over a gamble or a bet, made sense, given how Husk was once an overlord with power, and he felt that he couldn't be beaten and he shouldn’t fear anything. Which alastor took advantage of, even when alastor saw other demons weak he still kept his guard up and never let them know what he was really feeling. Always smiling, having the upper hand.

When we look at Husk strings compared to Angles, you can see that Angles are more twisted and messy, while Husk is more strict and ordered. Which relates to the demon who owns their soul clearly.

By what Angle said to Val, Angle only has to do as he says at work, which is properly why Angle moved out. When he's at the hotel he gets to have more freedom, yes Val is still messaging him, but Angle isn’t tied to post.

Which is probably why Husk gets frustrated with angles about putting on an act, and still acting like val is around. The fact that he is able to be away from the person holding his leash, even for a moment, he can be who he wants for a short amount of time. While Husk is never far from Alastor, whenever he is needed by him, no matter what he's doing, no matter where he is, Alastor just needs to snap his fingers and he's there. In the pilot we see this, when Husk was clearly in a poker game, and Alastor called him in to be a bartender. He even mentions in episode one that he is forced to be there. Although in the 7th episode it seemed like he did stay there willingly, alastor was gone, and Husk could have left and just waited for alastor to make him go back again. Same thing with angle he could have stayed with cherry or in the worst case scenario go back to val. But both chose to stay, because they wanted to. All Alastor told Husk to do was to be a bartender, and Angle was living there rent free. Both had chains but not tied directly to the hotel. Husk and Angle even admit that they like the place and consider each other friends.

It's interesting seeing the difference between Husk and Angles leashes based off their owners. Angle is mistreated by Val.

Val uses Angle for his own pleasure, abused for the heck of it, and is threatened constantly. Val makes Angle be his little toy, his little play thing, using him for benefit. Angle can’t speak much to Val, at first at least, he stands up to him when his friends are being involved. But before you can see that Angle didn’t want to tell charlie that he's on a leash with Val,

Alastor uses Husk for things he seems to be good at, as Mimzy said he does drinks for him, but it seems that Husk doesn’t need to act a certain way, alastor never tells him to fix his attitude when he sees Husk speaking, how Husk is vocal about how alastor makes him do things, shown in the pilot and episode 1. Even Though alastor teases Husk, calling him his pet, but alastor doesn’t really threaten him until he says something that strikes a nerve or something that insults him.

The big difference here is that Val immediately hits angle, no warning just hits him, or makes angle do something more disturbing. Alastor gave Husk a fearful warning, yes death would have been a mercy for Husk compared to what Alastor had originally planned to do to Husk. ‘To broadcast his screams for all to hear’, while val mostly does it behind the door, most likely due to vox’s request, to ‘save’ their image.

seven/ace/hex relisten <3

I’ve been really missing the seventh doctor recently so decided it was time to relisten to Hex’s storyline in the Big Finish main range! Its been ages since I first heard some of these (and i’ve never listened past Protect and Survive before) so I’m genuinely excited :) One of my favourite BF arcs so far I think!

I’m going to note down my thoughts as I go, starting with The Harvest:

I love how this story introduces us to Hex. He’s a sweet guy, it’s his birthday and he’s already having the worst time of his life. Sorry king it will NOT get better

I also enjoy the trend of Seven stories where he’s just skulking around for most of episode 1. Ace is like this is my dad he loves lurking

It’s such an optimistic vision of 2021? I love the reference to “Big Ben and the Museum of Parliament”. I wish. That and the all the tech the hospital use feels so far in the future even now

That being said there’s a weird Brexity vibe later on? The whole program being run by the Euro-Combine and all. Seven even blames the whole thing on “Eurocrats in Brussels” at one point. It just feels strange. I had enough of that in 2016 thanks

I like this take on the Cybermen too. The fact that these specific Cybermen want to be converted back into humans is really interesting!

I like how it makes the Cybermen kind of messy? I tend to see Cyber-conversion as a one-way, homogenising process but this story says so—there are those Cybermen who want it reversed. And i love how grotesque and body-horrory that reverse process is

Even the obligatory twist about how the Cyberleader was in control the whole time! doesn’t detract from that core idea too much—he’s still clearly finding joy in becoming human, even if it’s only with the end goal of completely Cyber-converting the rest of the human race

As a final thought—the sound design on this story is so… dense? So much is happening all at once it’s kind of hard to keep track of voices, especially near the end

Overall though I enjoyed this one a lot! It’s got a great, cold atmosphere with lots of gnarly stuff behind the scenes. I haven’t talked much about Hex but his dynamic with 7 & Ace is already great and probably my favourite part of this story. 8/10 overall i think!
