I know it's not necessarily auschizm(I hope I spelled that right) related, but you mentioned antidepressants and I just wanted to get on my soap box for a second about people's perception of mental health treatments.
Antidepressants are, statistically speaking, only 30-40% likely at actually treating/"fixing" the problem. Yet everyone acts like once you're on them, you're going to be magically cured and just Neurotypical and Okay and Healthy.
I don't know the statistics on other mental health medications BUT
For two years, I was on electric shock therapy because of just how bad my PTSD enduced depression was. It quite literally the only reason I am alive today. ECT has a statistical ~80% chance of "fixing" depression (and is used to treat psychosis, but I am unsure about the statistics on that.)
Any and every time I mention to people that I was on ECT they responded in abject HORROR that I received such treatment. Claiming it was torture and not a real, legitimate form of treatment. They were convinced it was only something that happened in the 1950s, and all advancements to it STOPPED in the 1950s.
No matter how many times I explained how the procedure was done, that i was in fact not conscious during it(thank you anesthesia), and given muscle relaxers to not actually under go a physical sezuire(though, disclaimer, you can still have one, and had one twice), they acted like I was subjecting myself to actual medieval torture and could not, for some reason no matter how I described how Bad I Was, wrap their head around how and why I came to the conclusion that ECT was something I needed.
All of this to say: people are just so entirely ignorant, and imo willingly so, to the actual realities of treating mental illnesses, especially outside of mild/situation depression and mild anxieties. And they are nor willing to actually educate themselves on things like therapies and coping skills and the different types of medications and the side effects of medications and what medication can and cannot do and what happens when medication just... Do Not Work For You.
I'm pretty sure the stats for antidepressants are far worse than that, actually. As far as I can recall, in most scientific studies of the effects of antidepressants, there hasn't actually been documented a difference between being on antidepressants and taking a placebo pill. And I'm critical of ECT too for various reasons, though I fully respect your decision to try it, and I'm really happy if it helped you

can't remember if i've messaged you before, but i'll just do it anyway. i have schizoaffective disorder (i am in my 20's) and even though i hate that you struggle, it's also "nice" to know that there's someone like me out there. i really wish you the best and i hope we'll both get better. and i totally agree with you on the whole ECT thing omg
fr fr I love fellow schizoaffectives/schizophrenics being honest and open about their symptoms and lives! it's comforting to know we aren't alone in this :)
I'm doing a lot better than I was last year and the lower clozaril dose has let me be more expressive and talkative again!
I believe in you so much anon <3 if you ever wanna talk my ask box and messages are open
yeah the whole concept as a trauma survivior of waking up in pain strapped to a bed would really fuck me up, it fucked my mom up really hard, doctors act like it's come so far and I'm like nah it's still incredibly traumatic and violating! especially for patients who want to make their psychiatrist happy, that's not actual consent

To my fellow US Americans: If you are planning on arming yourselves because of the election results and what might be on the horizons, I urge you to be a responsible gun owner.
Take as many classes as you can. Get certified in gun safety, even if it's not required to own a gun in your state. Get a gun safe. A good gun safe. Lock your gun up. Don't leave it armed. Don't wave your guns or gun-owning status around and don't pose with guns like they're toys. I'd say not to make gun buying an impulse purchase, either. You are investing in something that holds great potential risk to yourself and others - treat it like a responsibility.
I'm not here to argue about if Americans ought to exercise the second amendment in the way it currently exists. That's not the point - we have always had the second amendment, and I doubt it's going anywhere. I am more interested in making sure we don't see a surge in accidental, negligent gun ownership.
As a queer person in the US, I can understand the mindset behind people's spiked interest in arming themselves. I'm not arguing against that. As a child of gun owners, I know just how huge a responsibility it is to own a gun, and I hate the general attitude we Americans have about guns. Please don't contribute to that. If you own a gun, it is you inherent responsibility to take care of that gun (which is why I can't own a gun yet - I don't have the resources to pour into proper ownership).

NPD + ASPD Culture is hating those dumb people calling their abusive parents narcissistic/sociopathic/psychopaths but then accidentally caught yourself calling your own parents that too. I literally had my own "Am I the bad guy?" moment 😭

Warning ⚠️ This game contains Mature Content, ketchup, fake death & yandere
I had this thought about the game Your Boyfriend
It would be a bit similar to the original game but ……
The Player {a.k.a Y/N} is an age regressor & Peter wants to be their Cg.
…And he would do anything for this

Six months ago to the day I wanted to die, lying in a hospital bed getting my first ECT treatment, and tonight I sat under the stars on a hot summer evening with two of my closest friends, watching a beautiful performance of Les Mis while the stars came out.
It hasn't been easy and I'm not there yet, not where I want to be, but it's better and I'm so happy and grateful to be surviving

Can you share why you are critical of ECT?
Mainly because of the risk of permanent brain damage involved, and the way that this risk is often downplayed. I do however support everyone's right to pursue ECT, and I acknowledge that it can be helpful

This is your notebook. Yours, nobody else's. Remember that even if you grant pages of it to someone else
This is your notebook.
Destroy every page as you please. Some, you leave out cold, unfinished, frozen in a single moment forever. Forever, or maybe for as long as you, all powerful one, give it the mercy of continuation. Some, you fill with so much grime it drips out from the gaps and warps the paper to the full limits of what it can take.
Consume and ravage the entire thing. Fill it to it's aching, gurgling brim, or pluck it absolutely godlessly dry. Pour out your tears and mucus on it. Bleed on the paper. Drink it back up to rejuvenate your soul. Like an animal eating the placenta post-birth. You crack your skull on it then pick at the brain scatters like a bird on the sidewalk.
Rip off the bad ones. Or don't. Popped pimples bleed anyway.
This is your notebook. It loves you. You love it too. Except when you hate it. But you love it still, because it holds a fraction of your soul regardless.

ngl ever since this post, im designing and cutting out these stickers out at home which is a very time consuming and repetitive labor process only to know that there's thieves out there selling my designs at a fraction of the cost is extremely discouraging like. what is the point. what is even the fucking point.

Okay, are belly button piercings "trashy," or do you just associate them with femininity, or women, or sex work and strike it down as inherently less worthy? Are 'tramp stamps' "trashy", or do you just associate them with femininity, or women, or sex work and strike it down as inherently less worthy? Is pole dance "trashy", or do you associate it with women, or sex work and strike it down as inherently less worthy?
These are examples, but I find it interesting when people link things with womanhood or femininity or - gasp! - sex work and then immediately condemn, scrutinize, and dehumanize those who even dapple a little in these things, even if it isn't for sex work or to "look trashy." It's funny how the feminine or woman is seen as trashy until proven otherwise, and it's shameful that people still hold the bias that women must prove their humanity by not "being trashy" or "acting like a hooker."

Very suspicious of people who talk about antisemitism who put it in quotes (as in, "antisemitism"). I think the call is coming from inside the house!
It's weird seeing people say, "marginalized people know their marginalization best, listen to them when they say something is -phobic or -ist!" and then see them turn around the millisecond a jew says, "hey, this is suspiciously antisemitic"
