so this whole thing about nervous getting his real name in this EP: even if he got a real name he would probably be so used to be called "nervous subject" so if someone used his real name talking to him he wouldn't even react or notice the person talking to him.

although he was born with a different name given to him by his mother, he has been a nervous twitchy test subject for so long his memories from before that are long gone along with his name.

Also, before someone decides to argue, I am a NaruSaku and SasuLee shipper. I literally think Sasuke is queer, but that doesn't erase that some of y'all just hate women. Because there is sincerely nothing Sakura Haruno has done that she A) Hasn't shown growth and moved away from behavior wise B) That isn't nearly as close to the same level of bad that Sasuke, Itachi, Neji, Gaara, Obito, or even Naruto "Probably would have been the coolest guy" Uzumaki have done. But, people rush to defend them but cannot extend the same grace to Sakura who was just an annoying teen girl?

You don't have to like her, but some of y'all need to really reflect and realize your dislike of her is rooted in some base of misogyny and because a femme presenting woman dared to be close to your favorites; or for some that a not femme enough presenting woman dared to not kiss your power fantasy's feet. Ultimately, sexism is a disease and it's disturbing the hold it still has on the Naruto fandom.

my posish on the longtermism thing is pretty much like max’s;

intuitively future people don’t have moral weight to me, but when I examine that, the problem is really that they’re hypothetical. We do not even know if these people will exist, nevermind in what circumstances. Short of absolute gimmes like ‘if the current only known habitable planet for our species became less habitable, that would probably be bad’, trying to plan for these folk is just guesswork.

If you go on to add shit like ‘yeah, but there will be way more of them than people who are alive now, due to population growth and space colonisation and uploading, so we have to spend a lot of time and effort on this because of The Numbers*’ is… well, if I didn’t know EAs better**, I’d think it was pure Cope to justify spending time on abstract intellectual endeavours that people enjoy over the depressing messy business of trying to help people in real life. Whenever I see fanfic generalized as 'bad writing', I have to wonder wtf the speaker is reading. Because I read a lot of fic. Like, I read entire tags sometimes. And on average, fic is Decent. There is some really Great stuff, and usually the worst I come across is fic that is profoundly Mediocre. But actually Bad? So bad I wont finish reading it? That's pretty rare.

In the fandoms I normally read, anyway.

Cuz I started reading for something different and wow. I am dnf-ing stories left and right for every reason under the sun. I've quit more fics in one day than i have for entire other fandom tags. It's wild.

I think it’s just a lil bit funny looking back on Epithet Alternate (the goofy little EE roleplay group I did with some friends back in early 2020) cuz we accidentally predicted a couple of things that happened in EE/some future arcs for EE

Our first event was literally a jail break with Indus, Mera, and Ramsey (who didn’t even wanna come with). I don’t think any of us even knew there was gonna be an Actual prison break arc back then— we were still in the Really Early era of EE’s fandom. I think the only difference was that Giovanni was also there bc he accidentally revealed who he was online BANDNSNDNNF

ALSO ACCIDENTALLY PREDICTED GIO TAKING MOLLY AWAY FROM HER UNSTABLE HOME LIFE. THAT’S A BIGGER ONE. Only difference is that instead of hiding out at Crusher’s place, Ramsey helped him get his hands on an apartment. STILL THO. CRAZY AND INSANE.

Maybe it’s just the ability to recognize what would logically make sense as a next step for these characters? Idk! I think it’s a little funny in retrospect

I always thought this option was common knowledge, but apparently it's not..? It's especially useful since new users and artists who don't speak english are notoriously inconsistent about tagging, which normally means their posts slip between the cracks with the "filter tags" settings.

Another thing I recently realized you should do is look up the translation of various ship names in other writing systems, since they might not use the english equivalent. Also, remember that depending on character dynamic and "who tops", the order of the names in the shipname gets swapped! So you actually have to block two tags per ship. Alright happy filtering MWAH!!

East Asian fanartists are starting to migrate back to Tumblr because Twitter is insane, toxic, and dying, and what we're NOT going to do is let the fucking exclusionists get them, do you hear me? We are not going to let a bunch of feral idiots try to apply the most myopic version of puritanism to foreign artists we're not we're not we're not. Form an armed brigade if you have to, do you hear me. We're not going to bully the artists who may or may not even speak English because we have our precious standards of moral purity. If we see art that makes us uncomfy we're going to block the artist and tumblr savior their name so we don't have to see them again AND WE'RE GONNA MOVE THE FUCK ON.
