Headcanon: Dick Grayson, Mother Hen Extraordinaire (But in Denial)
Look, Dick wants to act like he’s the cool, independent, ex-circus-kid-turned-badass-vigilante. The “big bro who lets you get away with things and gives questionable advice” type. But the second anyone in the Manor so much as sneezes, trips, or looks a little sad, he’s on them like Alfred on a wrinkled shirt.
Tim forgets to eat? Dick is physically dragging him to the kitchen while pretending it’s just “bro bonding.”
Jason looks the slightest bit tired? Boom, a coffee (exactly how he likes it) magically appears in front of him.
Damian gets hurt? Suddenly, Dick is calling him “Dami” and inspecting every single inch of him for injuries like a worried mother.
Bruce broods too hard? “Dad— I mean, Bruce, get some sleep. You're literally Batman but you need rest like the rest of us mortals.”
Even Alfred isn't immune. "Alfie, have you eaten? No, don't lie to me, I will get Babs involved."
He thinks he’s subtle about it, but everyone sees right through him. Even Damian, who will never admit he appreciates it. Jason gives him endless grief about it, but still shows up to his apartment when he's sick, knowing Dick will fuss over him. Tim actively abuses the system by mentioning he "might" be catching a cold just to get free soup.
Dick, sighing as he tucks a blanket around a passed-out Tim: “I’m not a mom, okay? I just care about you idiots.” Jason, sipping his perfectly made coffee: “Yeah, sure, Mom.” Damian, wrapped in a blanket he totally did not ask for: “Hn.” Bruce, pretending to ignore the mug of tea Dick left on his desk: “…Thank you.”
Mother Hen? Absolutely. Will he admit it? Never.

Imagine in the beginning, before Red Hood's goons figure out that he is a baby, they think he is a single dad of a bunch of kids, instead. And it is not like they are wrong, since he does parent all kids of Crime Alley, but they mean not them. They mean Bats, instead.
No one is sure how old Red Hood is. But they saw a single white streak of the hair once, so he is... old, right? And these Batkids, they always hang around him, whining and asking for something - surely, it is his kids? Right? That gotta be it.
Red Hood: Now, back to- Sorry, I need to take a call. Goons: Sure, sir. Red Hood: What... Oh my god, Red. What do you mean, you don't know how to wash the carpet without- Spoiled brat. Okay, listen to me, you first need to get a really hot water... Goons: That's definitely his son being in troubles.
(It was Tim, who accidentally ruined Alfred's favourite carpet. He was in big troubles that day.)
Robin, appearing on the doorstep of Red Hood's den: Scram. I am here to see Hood. Goons, staring at little Damian: Hm-m. Red Hood, pushing them away: Bad day? (Damian wordlessly raising his arms to be picked up by Jason) Okay. It is fine. Goons: Hm-m-M.
Nightwing, whining: You are so boring. Why don't you want to play Twister with us this Sunday? Red Hood, rolling his eyes: Shut up. Goons, overhearing the conversation: Kids, am I right? Red Hood: Huh?
Goons, watching Batman and Red Hood shouting on each other on the rooftop: Hey, do we think Batman is also his kid?.. Goons: (thoughtful pause) Red Hood, completely pissed off by his dad in the meanwhile: I am TIRED of you. Go back to your stupid ass CAVE and think about your behaviour. I don't want to see you AGAIN. Batman: But- Red Hood: OUT OF MY TURF. NOW!!! Goons, staring at Batman, who walks away sulkily: ...HM-M.
Red Hood, staring at the "Best Dad" merch, given him by his goons on his birthday: I am confused. Do they mean kids from Alley, or they view themselves as my kids... What does it mean? Uh. Whatever. It is kinda sweet. Red Hood, on the next day: Thanks, guys. Very thoughtful of you! Goons, high-fiving each other: Sure, boss!

The Batboys and Taking Care of Themselves
Bruce isn't good at taking care of himself, and everyone knows it except him. He refuses to ask for help. Alfred and Dick have had to move him from the Batcomputer up to his room lots of times because he fell asleep working.
Dick knows, vaguely, that he's not good at taking care of himself, focusing on everyone else until he inevitably crashes. Jason freaked out once because he found Nightwing unconscious on a rooftop after a particularly stressful week.
Jason isn't the best at taking care of himself, but he's better at it than Bruce or Dick, and he actually gets better at taking care of himself when he's taking care of others (He's a mother hen but would never admit it).
Tim is almost as bad as Bruce, except that he's aware of his issues, even if he doesn't do much to fix them. He falls asleep in random places all the time. He was lucky Dick was tall enough to see the top of the fridge.
Damian is arguably the best at it, scolding the others when they do something particularly self-destructive, though his tendency to hide injuries has been an issue more than a few times.

Random Teen Titans thoughts.
The Brave and the Bold #54 has a few great moments, but my favourites are:
-Batman says he guesses he can spare Robin for a little bit
-Aqualad gets a letter via eels bringing him a message in a bottle
-the villains name is Brom Stikk. His grandfather or whatever (Jacob Stikk) told the people of the town that they could have the land if they paid him and all of his descendants one passenger pigeon feather every year. They never explain why he asked for this
-Robin comments that passenger pigeons have been extinct since 1913. Robin just knows this very specific piece of information
-Aqualad and Kid Flash have an ongoing little rivalry, but Robin does not care about any comments made about him. They question his competency, and he says nothing. They tell him they were wrong in the end, and he says nothing. He is just vibing
-Robin, to reach the villain, drives a fire truck out of the station, extends the ladder, and precariously balances at the very top of it while fighting a man who made it rain fire. I’m on the fence as to whether or not the truck was still moving as he did this
-the villain floods the town, despite one of his opponents being AQUALAD. Aqualad manages to stop the town from flooding, but does so by getting a narwhal to bore a hole through the cement to reach the sewage system and by god I wish I was making this up
The Brave and the Bold #60:
-Prof. Holmes and his comedically oversized syringe
-the villain is called the Separated Man. He is a giant who can separate his body parts. Prof. Holmes made the serum and accidentally made it so that the serum turns you evil
-the comedically oversized ear that somehow manages to eavesdrop on them, I assume by hiding behind the rock that is smaller than it
-the Separated Man goes underwater, but Robin does not give the comedically large syringe of anti-serum to Aqualad, who could presumably swim down, inject the anti-serum, and swim back up. Robin does it himself. I don’t understand why
-the comic ends with the teens of the town (plus the Teen Titans and Prof. Holmes) riding back to town on surfboards. Prof. Holmes is riding on Aqualad’s shoulders, made all the funnier by the fact that Aqualad is so tiny. Wonder Girl rides back on Prof. Holmes’ son’s shoulders. Kid Flash, we can assume, is also riding someone’s shoulders, but whoever he’s on is out of frame
-Robin is riding on a T-posing young man’s shoulders. This fills me with questions. I have zero answers

What if Damian and Tim love each other and even like? It's just more of a situation "Manipulating others is easier ". Maybe an example will help;
Damian: Father, May I go to Zoo today?
Bruce:No Damian, you're grounded.
Tim:Oh, that's bad. I could go with you to take photos of otter, but if you are not going I think I will stay too. What's a zoo without company. Maybe I will go with Kon next week.
Bruce *Super happy in a moment of thinking his youngest kids getting along*: If you two agree not to kill each other, Damian can go
Tim and Damian:*Knowing looks*
Or situation like;
Tim who has abandoned issues and is having fear of people leaving him: Dick is mad at me. Can you stab me so he will be in his mother hen mode Instead?
Damian who would like to have 5 minutes of peace from Grayson: Say no more

Fight
Tumblr media
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sumary: Dick and Batmom!reader got into a fight which upset both of them in the end.
Dick x Batmom!reader, Fem!reader (Use of she/her pronounce)
Note: Dick might be a bit out of character in this. Art/picture is from Pintrest, credits go to whoever made it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
“Get back here, Richard!” Y/N yelled as Dick stormed off towards his room. The two of them had been in a fight. Dick had gotten really hurt on a patrol, but refused to seek medical attention. This, of course, upsetting Y/N. Hating to see one of her birds hurt like this. Yes, Dick was the oldest. yes he was old enough to deal with things on his own, but not with injuries like this. "Richard! Don’t you dare walk away right now!” Y/N yelled after Dick as she walked up the stairs.
Dick ignored Y/N as he continued to struggle with walking towards his room. “Richard Grayson!!” Y/N yelled out one last time before Dick turned around to face Y/N. “Stop it! i am fine! I don't need you to baby me!” Dick hissed at Y/N. He was tired and just wanted to go to bed, but no Y/N needed to be a worried mother hen. “Just let me sleep! I do not need to be patched up!”
“Dick have you looked into a mirror? You look like hell, you need medical attention. Those wounds will get infected.” Y/N answered while trying to reach out for Dick. “I don’t need that, now stop being so annoying and let me be”
“Dickie, come on, please you really need to clean those. I am your mother, let me help you” Y/N Said, her anger slowly fading more and more as she looked at the beaten up boy. Something snapped in Dick’s tired mind and he got furious. “You are not my mother! Stop acting like you are!” Dick didn’t realize what he had said, because he turned around too fast to see the upset look on Y/N’s face. “I… I’m sorry Dick, i’ll let you be.” She said before Dick slammed his bedroom door shut.
Y/N turned around and slowly walked towards the master bedroom, tears rolling down her face as she crawled into bed. After a while Bruce joined her in bed and wrapped his arms around her. “What’s wrong, love? Did something happen with Dick?” Bruce asked, but he didn’t get an answer. not until the next morning. Bruce understood Y/N didn’t want to talk about it just yet and just held her even closer to him.
<----------------------------------------------------------------------->
The next morning Y/N did come down for breakfast, but she was rather quiet. Not like her usual self, not telling Damian to not mess with his brothers or telling Jason to put his book down. Everyone noticed but Dick. He was still upset, but he did feel bad. Once he shut his door last night he realized what he had said and that broke him more than the wounds he had. Breakfast was quiet but not awkward.
After breakfast Y/N just got ready for work and waved Damian and Tim goodbye as they went to school. She kissed Bruce’s cheek when he went to work. Dick looked on as Y/N did her normal routine, only feeling left out since they didn’t give him his hug.
“Mom?” Dick called out to Y/N, but she didn’t answer, too busy getting her bag ready. Dick carefully tapped Y/N’s shoulder which made her stop packing her bag. “Yes?” She answered a bit on the dry side. “Mom… I…” Dick started but he couldn’t find the right words. It’s okay, Dick, you don’t have to call me mom if you don’t want to.” Y/N said, upsetting them both in the process. She gave Dick a sad smile before leaving for work.
Dick sighs and gets ready for uni. “What was that?!” Jason asked shocked as he looked at Dick from the living room. He had a day off so he was going to do nothing all day, maybe bother Alfred a bit. “Nothing.” Dick answered his brother. “That was most definitely not nothing!” Jason gasped. “Oh my god, you and mom had a fight!”
“We did not have a fight,” Dick said as he shoved one of his books into his bag. “I just said something I regret…” Jason narrowed his eyes and glared at Dick. “What did you say?”
Dick groaned a bit when he stretched his arm the wrong way when grabbing another book to put in his bag. “I might have said that she wasn't my mom so she should stop acting like it” This made Jason gasp. “Yeah, I know, I screwed up...”
<---------------------------------------------------------------------->
A few days go by in which both Dick and Y/N are upset over what happened, everyone saw it. Dick did get some medical attention for his wounds but the sad smile Y/N wore that week hurt more than anything else. Dick sighed and started to make his way around the manor in search of Y/N. He eventually found her in the Batcave looking over some files and homework Damian did. He carefully sat down next to her at the Batcomputer. “Mom?” He said, which made Y/N turn her head towards Dick. “I’m sorry mom. I never meant to yell at you or say you’re not my mother. Because I do love you as my mom even with my own mom being, well not here… I was just so tired and patrol didn’t go well, and uni wasn’t great that day and… and.. I just don’t know anymore. But I don’t want you to be upset… That hurts…” Dick said through his tears.
Dick was surprised when he felt two arms around him. Y/N held Dick close to her. “I forgive you, sweetie, but please don’t ever say it again. It really hurts, when all I wanted to do was make sure you were taken care of. Maybe I shouldn't have yelled, though.” Y/N said as she slowly leaned back and started to whip Dick’s tears away with her thumb. She carefully leaned over and kissed Dick’s forehead. “I love you, Bluebird.”
“I love you too, ma”

Jason, holding a scooter: Dick! Can I go outside and play with this?
Dick: Sure, whatever. I'm not your parent, okay?
Jason, running outside: Thanks Dick!
Dick, running out after him and screaming: NOT ON THE STREET! STAY AWAY!

Can I ask for maybe a series on the batboys love languages? Them being down bad simps is so funny and cute
So i think all batboys sort of use all love languages, but in varying levels
Dick Grayson
words of affirmation,- very direct and upfront with words, confident and very charming. Even him being vulgar is like charming . Its almost like practiced ease but its so personalized that it works. It is a little basic though. Likes it a lot when you do it too. appreciate that beautiful wonder boy please.
quality time,- He tries so hard but with his responsibilities its tough. He craves getting adventures or doing some activity together but after a really long time apart he just wants to cuddle with you in a park or hill and talk.
physical touch,- yes. no hesitation yes. he loves it , knows just how to use it. Its like he can read your mind because he knows exactly what you want and when you want it. prefers giving over receiving .
acts of service- also big yes. Since he cant give enough quality time, what is one strong way he can show how much he loves you. also very caretaker vibes..like a mother hen. Wants to tie your scarf, wash your hair, tie your shoelace to something like staying up making you food and giving you stress release hugs during exam time. "why would you want to do something when I can do it for you babe" . Will die if you do even the littlest thing gushing and telling you just how much he appreciates it.
receiving gifts- Second Best gift giver , its like a perfect mix of expensive and personal and he just loves spending on you. but prefers spending on memories more than materialistic stuff . Will cherish your gifts forever and very vocal about it.
Jason todd
words of affirmation,- sucks at it, but he will quote you book lines when the mood is vulnerable and quiet in the night and he is really in his safe space. Which is unique and very personal . Also very vulgar and straight up in dirty talk. Will blush-glitch-brush off any sweet thing you say to him.
quality time- yes. like yes all the time just stick your skin to him will not leave you side. wants to be with you alone forever doing nothing at all just loving and its literally to an obsessive level
physical touch- made a separate post on this in detail
acts of service- its very subtle, he will never tell you about . may even deny doing it and for a while you probably thought it was a ghost. If you do anything for him, will just stare but inside his head its like an explosion...like imagines a loud screaming todd running around
receiving gifts-very sweet personal gifts . lowkey sucks at giving gifts on special occasion but gives awesome random gifts. Give him anything and its him malfunctioning ...like you saw him actually stutter 9times in a row" uh-wha-for me-why-uh-th-than-thanks-i mean- i-uh-i-uh-yea bye"

Spidey in Gotham brainrot is bad rn, and the whole Richard Grayson = Richard Parker thing??? Can't take it. I just can't. Imagine Peter busking in gotham by doing acrobatics or juggling (spider senses come real handy in catching stuff, imagine how damn good at juggling he would be with like a little bit of practice??) bc he's broke as hell and he doesn't have to keep up with his nerd persona at school or anything, so why not? And just Dick?? Seeing this street performer kid??? Who looks just like him????? A tiny lost little Grayson????? I wish I could draw bc I see it so clearly, but sadly I can only do like stick figures.
Bold of you to assume I wouldn't LOVE a stick figure reenactment
But no you get it!!! I'm completely absorbed in the Richard Parker is Dick Grayson brainrot,,, it's so good. I love street performer Peter just as much as him being in the circus!! He would decimate people in break dancing and magic tricks using his stickiness!! Peter could totally wow audiences by juggling stuff like knives too!
I love torturing Dick with parallels just as I do with much Peter. Dick, seeing a homeless, witty orphan moving with the grace of an acrobat and wanting to take him home and feed him,,, only to find out, holy shit, the sassy kid who juggles knives is actually his??? If he wasn't already a mother hen before, paternal instincts have intensified it by 200%.

I want to see the destruction of Tim's ability to trust people.
Fic idea: [Timeline might be a little whack, but I tried]
It starts when Tim is a kid. I don't know much about boarding schools, but I doubt they inspire trust. Just a brief examination of boarding school trauma, his parents breaking promises, and Tim learning to emotionally fend for himself (his parents love him, but are unavailable. The other adults in his life are paid to care about him).
Still, he has a naive childish trust (as developmentally appropriate for his age). He has full faith in Robin, Batman, and Dick Grayson (any iteration of Dick). He also believes that Robin is magic and his heroes will always win (as kids tend to do).
To stray a little from canon, Tim meets Robin!Jason on patrol. Jason's not Dick, but he's Robin. He's kind, a bit of a mother hen, and funny. They only meet three times, but Jason has proven he can and will protect Tim (or the camera kid).
Jason dying shatters Tim's worldview a bit. He didn't think that was possible (logic and emotions are different, especially at that developmental stage).
His faith in Batman shakes with the man's violence, but he logics it away. The man just needs a Robin. Tim can help.
Then we get Dick Grayson. Although the man refused to be Robin again, he's still Tim's hero. This relationship gets built over time to be a strong bond where Tim implicitly trusts him. Dick becomes everything to Tim and the one person Tim knows he can always rely on. This will need to be shown again and again throughout (and will highlight how Tim's perception on trust will constantly flux [because, up to RR, Dick proves to always be there for Tim as much as possible. No matter what else is happening in Tim's life, he can rely on Dick]).
Tim gets sent away to Paris and exposed to Lady Shiva's worldview. It doesn't fester, but it allows Tim to understand there's more perspectives to the world than what he's known. It's a background realization.
Tim's mom dies.
When Tim temporarily becomes Bruce's ward, he's kind of confused. His previous experiences with being under guardianship outside of his parents are transactional relationships (his parents pay the boarding school to take care of Tim for them). So, the guardianship is included with Tim's work as Robin. That makes sense. Tim has full faith in Batman.
Bruce, however, is different. Tim doesn't really know the man behind the mask. During this time, Bruce tries to become close to Tim. Tim starts to trust Bruce as well.
Then the whole chaos of Jack waking up from his coma happens. For Jack and Tim, it centers on Tim trying to trust his father despite them not really knowing each other. There are differences in their desires, wants, needs, and communication styles. There's Jack struggling with his grief, his brush with death, and a kid he hasn't spent enough time with. Robin being revealed ignites the tension and Jack's fear of losing Tim (to death or distance).
Jack and Tim's relationship becomes real rocky due to their beliefs conflicting each other (about Robin, Jack's role in Tim's life, trust, perception about Tim's experience of being directly and long-term parented, etc). It's rough. They fight a lot, but they start to understand each other.
Steph becoming Robin and dying shakes Tim's faith in Batman. He has faith in him as a hero, that the man wouldn't purposefully hurt Tim, but he now thinks Bruce doesn't always make the right decisions (though feel free to add Bruce victim-blaming Steph and gaslighting here to highlight how Tim might still trust Bruce).
YJ is so important for Tim's story about trust. They teach him about relying on others, communication, boundaries, interpersonal relationships, and someone always having your back. They can and will do anything for each other. It required time and effort, but YJ proves that dependability can be built. After Tim trusts them with his identity, they become some of the few people (besides Dick) to know Tim deeply.
Dick taught Tim about reliability and that he'd be there for him, but Dick's tied to Tim through Batman. Dick needs to interact with him (though the nature of their relationship is entirely up to them. Dick chooses to be caring, which Tim acknowledges and appreciates and loves him for). There's also slight power imbalance due to Dick being a mentor and adult (and not a peer). YJ, on the other hand, doesn't need to interact. They can walk away at any point. This means Tim has to put serious work to maintain those relationships. While Tim does know some of this socialization stuff from civilian friends and boarding school, that's different from trusting those friends to protect or defend him on the battlefield.
Tim's civilian friends also need to be lied to for the "greater good." He loves and cares about them, but can't have honest and authentic relationships with them. This is where Tim's trust in himself and self-belief about his trustworthiness can be explored (fear gas and such can also be used).
Jack dies right when Tim is starting to have a decent relationship with the man. This fractures Tim's ability to hope and be optimistic. He still can, but it's harder and more wary.
Finding out "Jason is alive and he did slit Tim's throat" while being beaten up in a place he was supposed to feel safe obliterates Tim's notions that "what has once protected you always will." In fact, what has protected you may turn around to harm you (both Jason and the TT lock down procedures).
For Tim's 16th birthday, Tim learns that Batman can and will harm Tim (and children) if the man thinks his reason is justified. Tim doesn't believe, after it's all done, that his friends or family will betray him. Despite that, he spent days internalizing that someone he trusts could and would betray him unexpectedly, leading to great harm. That lesson stuck, even if he doesn't actually believe in it. Lack of confidence doesn't change that it could happen.
He also learns the answer to a question he never wanted to know: Would Alfred choose Bruce over the batkids? Tim doesn't have proof that Alfred would do the same to the others, but he does have proof that Alfred will follow Bruce's plan even to someone he loves' detriment.
Tim kept shit from Bruce due to his previous experience with adults. Now Tim actively doesn't trust him in regards to some matters. He still believes in Batman.
Then there's Bruce hitting Dick and/or Jason (especially while dressed as Batman). Tim can't let go of his faith in Batman [habit and sunken cost fallacy], but this wars with what he sees Bruce doing to his kids.
Kon and Bart die.
Which... Tim knew that was possible, but there's a certain level of delusion that one needs to be a hero. Tim needed to have faith that his friends would be safe and that they would always come home. They were metas, after all. It doesn't matter that Tim's seen so much death, lost so many people, and watched other metas die. He's also seen his friends survive impossible odds.
Then there's the unfair emotion of them not being there when he needs them (because they are dead). Even when they return, he can't rely on them like he used to. There's no guarantee that they will be there.
Continually, their death rapidly reduces the number of people Tim can fully be himself with and can rely on them for hero stuff. While the retired members of YJ are loved, cared for, and trusted, their relationship is more distant after they retire. Tim doesn't blame them and is happy for them. That doesn't change the outcome of their relationship reflecting the status of retirement.
I'm not entirely sure on the timeline of Steph coming back to Gotham, but that fucks with Tim. To add on, their whole relationship has a ton of secrecy and lies on both parts (particularly when Bruce gets involved).
Damian coming to Wayne Manor fucks with Tim's sense of safety and trust too. He's pretty jaded by this point, but he wasn't expecting to be stabbed by a ten year old. Being attacked in Wayne Manor (probably the last place Tim trusts to protect him) disintegrates any notion Tim has with the ability to associate physical spaces with safety (this could morph into, later, him having issues letting his guard down in spaces he doesn't have full control over [like his nest]).
Then the BotC happens where Tim trusts Jason enough to release him from prison (which then bites him in the ass. This isn't an argument whether Tim should or shouldn't have done that, but just a reflection on how this impacts Tim's ability to trust).
When Tim walks in on Damian in the Robin suit, that's straight-up betrayal to the teen from the person he trusts most in the living world (perception is also important for trust. Dick doesn't see it that way and is trying his best, but Tim feels a dagger in his back). Dick getting Cassie and other heroes to stand against Tim is the cherry on top for all of this (again, this isn't hating or disparaging other characters. They had their reasons, some of which come from a place of concern. Tim is also not blame free. Despite that, this is about Tim's perception of trust and reliability).
Then RR is a representation of Tim knowingly putting some form of trust in people he shouldn't (Pru, Owens, Z, and Ra's). By this point, he expects betrayal and harm. That makes it easier for him to form transactional relationships with these people (though Pru, Owens, and Z form a tentative friendship with RR [which fucks Tim over when 2 of them die]).
When he comes back, he lies to Dick about expecting to he caught. Tim still loves, cares, and trusts Dick, but not about that. He also doesn't want to hurt his brother either.
A cool twist would be to see Tim have a better relationship with Jason and Damian. He doesn't trust them, and they don't trust him. They all expect the other to stab them in the back. This is what paves the way to mutual respect and understanding (though Jason and Tim would bond over their feelings about the other Bats). Tim still somewhat trusts Dick, but not with his emotions or mental well-being. This trust is still more than what most others have with him.
Anyways, I want to see the progression of Tim, as a child, knowing that adults can be trusted for some things (like food, shelter, education, etc.) and not for other things (emotional security). I want to see this morph over time as he learns and relearns what he feels and knows about people. In the end, he's a paranoid, distrusting, wary, and jaded individual.

BigBro Dick Grayson with Little Sibling Vigilante Reader Headcanons
I have not done a sibling relationship one yet and really wanted to. Hope you enjoy! Here is my masterlist for more. ~ Anya
Tumblr media
When you were brought in by Bruce into the Batfam, he immediately had a soft spot for you.
Training sessions with him are calculated, but not as grueling as with some of the others.  He lets you pick what to work on, but does try to make it more fun.
After training snack stops are a MUST.  Anything from ice cream to sweets to chips to smoothies. He’ll take you after a good workout or training
Patrols can be both fun and frustrating. He will be overprotective, but try to crack jokes on a boring night.
He is responsible as much as he is fun, so when he sees you focused on the patrols or missions, he takes pride in that.
He is well aware that you can fight and kick ass on your own and won’t cut in to take that from you. He really only gets in the way if he feels like you are in danger or at a high risk.
If you get into an argument or fight with one of the other Batfam members, he lends an ear and tries to calm you down.
He knows your body language well and goes out of his way to check if you are okay or give you your favorite things to cheer you up.
He definitely builds blanket forts for him, you, and the other siblings. Full of lights, pillows, and lo-fi music.
When he moves to BlĂĽdhaven, you are welcome to stay with him whenever you want. He is a phone call away, no matter what.
For major events in your life, he is there for you. From a prom night, to your 21st birthday, to bringing your partner over for the first time, he is there as your hype man.
When it comes to romantic advice, he’s a bit of an over-sharer, but he wants you to be happy and not be heartbroken by some jerk. He’ll give you his perspective and red and green flags.
In addition to relationship chats, he loves to hear about your crushes and/or partner.  Seeing you so passionate about someone is adorable and raw to him. He also takes it as a sign of trust.
When you get sick, he goes full mother-hen mode with Bruce and Alfred to take care of you. He will overreact, but it’s out of love
Same goes for if you are injured while on patrol. He goes into first aid mode and fusses over getting everything for you.
He is the dad of the group when it comes to snacks and feeding you. You will not go hungry with him around.
But he isn’t always fun and games. If you are getting too rowdy or rough, he will make sure to let you know.
When a plan of attack is in motion, he watches over you to be sure you do it right and safely.
He does not tolerate separating from the core values of the Batfam, but will not be as harsh as some of the other members.
If you are one of the vigilantes that takes more to violence or killing, he will show disapproval, but not hold it against you outside of the costume.
Overall, he cares for you a lot and will look after you, while still respecting your space and choices. A good big bro.

A Masked Promise
Ch. 37
Tumblr media
Dick Grayson (Nightwing) x Reader
The infirmary felt suffocating. Not because of the sterile scent or the quiet hum of the machines, but because of him. Because Dick hadn’t moved from your bedside since you woke up, hadn’t let go of you, hadn’t even thought to take care of himself.
The dark circles under his eyes were deeper now, his exhaustion evident in every slow blink, every sluggish movement. He looked like he hadn’t slept in days—like the weight of the world had settled onto his shoulders and refused to let go, like Atlas doomed to carry the heavens without rest, his burden as endless as his guilt.
“Gray…” you murmured, your voice still rough from disuse. Your fingers brushed over the back of his hand, drawing his attention. “You need to get some sleep.”
He scoffed lightly, shaking his head as if that was the most ridiculous thing you could have suggested. “I’m fine.”
“You look like hell,” you countered, watching as his lips pressed into a thin line. “And this bed sucks.” You shifted against the stiff mattress, wincing slightly to sell your point. “I feel gross. I need a shower.”
His eyes narrowed slightly, suspicion flickering across his face. “You’re still weak.”
“I’ll be fine.”
His response was immediate, firm. “You’re not walking.”
Before you could protest, he was already moving, arms sliding under you with ease. Your breath hitched as he lifted you as if you weighed nothing, his warmth immediately surrounding you.
“Gray—”
“I said you’re not walking,” he murmured, voice unwavering.
You exhaled, knowing better than to argue with him when he was like this. Instead, you leaned your head against his shoulder, letting him carry you through the hallways to his quarters—the same place you’d been staying with him. The tension in his body was palpable, his grip on you firm but gentle, like he was afraid you’d slip away again.
You tried to lighten the mood. “So… are you planning to carry me into the shower too?”
His gaze flicked down to you, unimpressed. "I'm still mad at you, you know that, right?"
Inside his quarters, he set you down carefully on the edge of the bed, hovering like a worried mother hen as you pushed yourself up. The moment you were steady, he hesitated, as if torn between giving you space and staying close. You squeezed his arm before making your way to the bathroom, letting him know you were okay.
The warm water helped wash away the remnants of blood, battle, the grime, the sweat, the exhaustion clinging to your skin. By the time you stepped out, towel-drying your hair, you felt marginally better. You slipped into one of his shirts—soft, oversized, smelling like him—and returned to the bedroom to find him sitting on the bed, a fresh bottle in his hands.
You frowned. “Seriously?”
His grip tightened slightly around the bottle, but he didn’t meet your eyes. “Just one.”
“No,” you said firmly, walking over and plucking it from his hands before he could argue. “You need sleep, not this.”
His jaw tensed, but he didn’t resist as you set the bottle aside and nudged him toward the pillows. He let out a heavy breath, rubbing a hand over his face before finally relenting, settling into bed. You climbed in beside him, shifting closer until your bodies aligned, your head tucked under his chin.
The moment you did, his arms locked around you, pulling you against him as if afraid you’d disappear. His face pressed into your hair, his breathing slow but uneven, his hold unyielding. You closed your eyes, letting yourself sink into the warmth of him, his presence, his scent.
“Sleep,” you murmured against his chest.
He tensed slightly, then exhaled, his fingers tracing slow patterns against your back. “I can’t.”
You pulled back slightly to look up at him. His gaze was distant, haunted.
“Every time I close my eyes,” he admitted, voice barely above a whisper, “I see it. You died. The way your eyes—” His breath hitched, and he shook his head, swallowing hard. “I lost you.”
His voice was so raw, so broken, that it cracked something inside you. Without hesitation, you shifted, moving above him, gently guiding his head against your chest, your arms wrapping around him as he had done for you before. He didn’t resist—just let himself sink into you, his body finally releasing some of the tension it had been holding. The steady rhythm of your heartbeat against his ear seemed to soothe him, grounding him in something real, something alive.
Your fingers threaded through his hair, nails scratching lightly against his scalp. “I was scared too,” you admitted softly. “Watching you fight Slade, knowing there was nothing I could do… I couldn’t imagine a world without you, Gray. Without Richard Grayson. Without Nightwing.”
His arms tightened around your waist.
“I’m expendable,” you continued, your voice steady but gentle. “But you’re not. More lives would have been lost if—”
“Stop.” His voice was muffled against you, but firm. He shifted, burrowing further against you, his breath warm against your skin. “You’re not expendable. You’re—” He exhaled shakily. “I can’t imagine a world without you either.”
The room was quiet after that, save for the steady rhythm of your breathing. You continued running your fingers through his hair, grounding both of you in the moment. His body slowly relaxed beneath you, exhaustion creeping in.
And then, as if the thought had been weighing on you all night, you spoke. “I’m ready.”
A low hum vibrated against your skin as he shifted slightly, not quite lifting his head. “Mmm?”
“To go all the way,” you clarified. "You know...Sex."
That got his attention. He pulled back just enough to squint up at you, sleep-heavy but alert. “You’re only saying that because you’re drained right now.”
You rolled your eyes. “No, I’m saying that because I almost died.” He winced. “And it put things into perspective.”
His gaze softened, his fingers brushing slow, aimless patterns over your ribs. “I get that,” he murmured, voice thick with exhaustion. “And believe me, I feel the same. But I don’t want you making this choice because of fear.”
“It’s not fear,” you insisted. “It’s clarity.”
He hummed again, skeptical but not dismissive. His fingers trailed just beneath the hem of his shirt draped over you, warm against your skin. “Still… sleep on it,” he said, voice softer now, heavier. “We’ll talk tomorrow.”
You sighed, about to argue again, but he silenced you with a kiss—first to your forehead, then your nose, then finally, your lips. It was soft, lingering, filled with quiet understanding.
“Sleep,” he murmured against you, and this time, it was an order.
He shifted, tucking himself against you once more, his head beneath your chin, his arms holding you close.

So I just finished watching the knew Batman Caped Crusaders and I have some thoughts but mainly I want to talk about episode 8: Nocturne, we get to see Leslie Thompkins in charge of a group of kids from the orphanage which included Dickie (Dick Grayson), Jason Todd, Stephie (Stephanie Brown) and Carrie Kelly. They all get captured by Natalia, a girl who preforms in the carnival who has some sort of disorder that can be temporary cured be taking the life force from people. Carrie escapes and helps Batman defeat Natalia. The thing I want to look into tho is the fact that they are all already in the orphanage so that means all they’re parents are already dead, Bruce didn’t see the Graysons fall so there is no robin, Leslie also said that Stephanie is 9 so that brings me to my question, how is the show going to add in robin when Bruce isn’t going to see the circus and we all know Dick (mother hen) Grayson isn’t going to let his jolly gang of robins friends out of his sight and if Stephanie is 9 then Dick should be like 15(I think) and he clearly doesn’t look it in the show. It is very likely that this Batman just doesn’t have a robin in this universe but seeing the dark path that he is heading on I feel like it would be the perfect set up to introduce a light (robin) to help Batman. So whatever this means for future seasons I hope it does include robin and how the torch is passed down.
