You may expect it to be the games I write aka D.bd and L.eague, but: A. I have trauma over l.eague due to a very toxic person in my life, that I unfortunately still live with, who would yell and scream at me over every mistake I made in that game and take it offline too making it so can only really play it with close friends anymore and B. I really want to get back into d.bd eventually, but I just don't care for the matchmaking I still miss the old ranking system. I still play it with irl friends occausionally.

BUT My favorite videogames are Red Dead 2, B.ugsnax, H.ades, S.am and M.ax seasons 1 and 2, and R.emnant From The Ashes 1 and 2. (ig for m.obas u can put S.mite there too)

Red Dead and Bugsnax are for the story and gameplay, they're both absolutely incredible games and I honestly like Bugsnax more than Red Dead at times? I've 100% Bugsnax and I haven't done that with Red Dead so. B.ugsnax I sitll feel like is really slept on, since I haven't seen anyone who played it on release play the free update that added so many more snax and a lot of fun story especially with S.norpu and C.handlo.

S.am and M.ax is just fun and like peak early 2000s point and click, I love all the stupid characters and I almost at one point added Jurgen to my muse list as a joke. It's such a fun franchise (until u get to the third season than it's really bad and they somehow fucked up the controls for a point and click game). I'd highly recommend checking them out.

Remnant is jut really fun to play with friends? It's a souls-like fps I guess kind of looter shooter, but it feels more set up like an rpg with it's trait points, armor, and a lot of different weapons. I love the world and the character designs, they're all really fcking good. Still haven't beaten 2 with my friends (we're still working on killing the final boss then doing the dlc), but we're slowly working on it.

Now- if we're counting S.mite as my go to m.oba being a favorite, I genuinely prefer it over l.eague tbh? And not just because trauma, I held that opinions before all that shit happened. I really like its 3rd person perspective and I just feel like the kits are a lot more fun and interactive? I play a lot more gods than I ever did in l.eague and that's not because I was only allowed to play support while playing l.eague, l.eague has a lot of supports, but I just like the S.mite support skits better.

That and S.mite has actual game modes you're not forced into a.ram or 5v5s, those modes exist of course (and their 5v5s have way more objectives than l.eague), you have 3v3s that me and my friends play ranked or you can play team death match or even something as fun as s.lash where its two giant creatures beating the shit out of each other and you have to escort them.

And while we didn't have as many rotating game modes this year and that's always a bummer, there was a lot last year like S.mite had 2v2v2v2v2s way before L.eague ever announced them and it was a more fun concept of trying to be the first team to hit 30k gold. You had m.ario k.art but it was s.mite gods, boss rushes for the holidays that was genuinely hard, normal 2v2s, their version of u.rf ofc w/o it being random because honestly fuck a.ru.rf its so annoying when you get stuck with chars that are boring af in a setting like that.

And then while the S.mite seasons didn't do shit for me or my friends, because we don't play c.onquest we had 5 this year and each changed up the map in pretty big ways and I've heard that people really found it fun and it changed up the pace of games quite a bit. That and S.mite just has a lot more body diversity, skin tones, voices, etc. than L.eague does and while some gods are very old, there's no god where I'm like "yeah that looks fucking awful" like I am with some l.eague champs.

And for all those monster fuckers, they do not shy away from monster designs unlike L.eague. There's a lot of really cool monster chars, like when C.haron came out I remember lamenting to Egg about how L.eague had released a rlly fcking boring and safe design while Smite dropped fucking C.haron. I also just think S.mite has a better way of showing mastery too with the border stars, (you get one per 1000 mastery) you can really tell who doesn't touch grass when you can't even count the stars anymore. (affectionate) I really enjoy S.mite even if it gives me depression by shoving the #1 N.emesis player on NA into my games every week.

hey this is going to sound really damn heavy and vulnerable but, yeah I have been in a pretty abusive relationship in the past(last year) and realizing how bad it was despite not seeing the red flags is so upsetting to me. I thought it was normal but after venting to my gf about everything, she told me none of this was normal. having my self confidence be lowered, being infantilized heavily to the point where my vulnerability was appealing, having that abuser worm their way into my friend groups, being yelled at over a fucking cat oc to the point I spiraled so hard that I relapsed. Having my trauma be undermined and basically feeling beneath that person.

and worst of all, ""joking"" about sexually assaulting me on THREE separate occasions, trying to normalize that behavior because they knew I was too scared and vulnerable to say anything and basically took advantage of my kindness. they even changed my discord nickname to "rape victim" out of the blue one day. I feel embarrassed I let this happen to me but idk it's just the guilt of being a victim.

Disabled people (both people with physical disabilities and people with psychological disabilities) should be able to get housing, food, medical needs, etc met without having to work or stay in school. ...Okay, really, everyone deserves access to free or affordable housing, food, and medical care, but disabled people ESPECIALLY deserve it because if I, a law student with "low support needs" autism, depression, GAD, OCD, and ADHD, cannot afford to take a break from school and take a semester off because I'd have to start repaying my loans because I had to drop down to three credits last fall and because I would have to get a job, so it wouldn't really be a break (which, I have had one job in my life, and I'm not fully convinced it wasn't a fluke, and also, trying to maintain a job when you have disabilities is difficult), I can only imagine that disabled people with higher support needs are even more fucked than me when it comes to being able to get housing and food and medical care without much, if any, funding.

Yes, Medicaid, Medicare, Food Stamps, and housing programs exist in the US, but, uh, I hate to break it to y'all, but that doesn't fully fix the problem, at all. There are a lot of old apartment complexes that are straight up inaccessible if you use a wheelchair. I'm living in one now. Applying for Medicaid and other programs can be a pain in the ass, especially when you're disabled.

"Just live with your parents!" My parents were emotionally abusive and emotionally neglectful, transphobic, and they literally harassed me so much during my 1L year that I still have nightmares.

"Live with a roommate!" I tried to. It went fucking terribly.

"Are you really disabled if you're able to be in law school?" YES. YES I AM.

Actually, on that note, law schools and the law profession need to become more accommodating for disabled people ASAP. Buck v. Bell needs to be overturned. Courts should be wheelchair accessible. Having to get past seven plus different forms of ableism just to graduate and pass the bar is ridiculous. Seriously, can we get some resources for disabled people in law school and the law profession, please?

Disabled rights matter, and we have every right to be able to live in peace and get our needs met, regardless of our support needs, disabilities, or anything else.

I'm watching people trauma bond with Calypso from EPIC in real-time. Y'all. A character can be a woman and be a rapist at the same time. And her being a woman doesn't mean that ACTUALLY there's some trauma in her past that justifies her imprisoning men on her island and taking them to bed against their will, it means that she's a rapist that just happens to also be a woman.

I love how Calypso is depicted in EPIC, she's just dripping with a nastiness that is only matched by Penelope's entitled suitors. She's sugary sweet at the outset, but when Odysseus rather violently rejects her, she laughs at his rejection, saying he's adorable when he's angry and that he doesn't have any choice but to submit to her will as a god. And then she goes right back to the sweet lover in paradise ruse!!! It's sickening! She denies his autonomy because it gets in the way of the fantasy romance that she's forcing upon him.

So, I'm frustrated with people trying to paint it as though she's the victim in the situation, that what she's doing is somehow okay because she's a pretty woman and they feel bad for her. That's so patronizing.

I've seen people justify her behaviour by saying she's lonely. Tough shit get a hobby. Being starved for affection has never justified being an abuser.

I've seen people insist she truly cares about Odysseus because she tries to talk him down from suicide... but an abuser talking you down from taking drastic measures to escape their abuse isn't them showing genuine care, it's them not wanting the game to end, it's them exerting control over your very life. If anything, it's more disturbing because she is the one who drove him to be suicidal. So she's playing this game where she drives him to the precipice and then tries to lure him back down with "reminders" of "their love", those reminders actually being of the words of his dead loved ones that she's pilfered and warped as though they were her own.

The most ridiculous argument I've seen in defending Calypso's behaviour is saying that we can't use terms like "rapist" for her because "it was a different time" so "it's not certain whether or not what she did would be considered non-consensual for the time"... Like must I even point out that... that sleeping with someone against their will has always been and will always be rape? Anyway, her actions fit the ancient definition of rape to a t anyhow, so it's weird to try and weaponize "cultural differences" for the sake of having plausible deniability in Calypso's favour. Rape is also used to mean kidnapping, which is why we have pieces titled the Rape of Ganymede, the Rape of Persephone, etc..

Even if Jorge were to come out and say that, somehow, nothing sexual took place on Calypso's island in seven years, that despite her explicitly telling Odysseus that his "no" means nothing to her as a goddess she somehow never went so far as to sexually assault him... it doesn't make her abuse any less bad that she spared him that one trauma! Like holy shit dude.

Imagine if there was an adaptation that featured Zeus' rape of Io, and the audience responded to every literally dehumanizing action Zeus took against Io by saying "ooohh but he's lonely. i feel bad for him the most he's just a widdle lonely baby man. his wife is so meaaan."

i have been thinking a lot about mystra’s relationship with gale, how reducing her to “his ex” really is an understatement. she was and still is so much more than that. moreover, using the term “ex-girlfriend” in relation to her plainly feels wrong and diminishes the influence she has over him, as well as the role she played in his life since his childhood (and it also trivializes the abuse he suffered through her).

there are several instances where gale gets defensive when his companions mention or ask him abt mystra. he claims that their relationship was no less real even though most of their interactions were incorporeal.

we have already established that gale is an unreliable narrator in this particular case, still not having fully come to terms with the fact that he was groomed, manipulated and abused. he ping-pongs between bouts of realization (even in his romance), gaining clarity that he was merely used and eventually discarded and that mystra never truly cared for him, back to making light of his situation, idealizing her once again. realizing the extent of his trauma, that he is indeed a victim in this scenario, unlearning what he has been made to believe from a young age is a slow and painful journey. he is in the process of healing, but it takes time. time he deserves just like anyone else.

which makes me wonder what their relationship really looked like, once the lines between teacher, muse, and lover began to blur. i also feel like one of the reasons why part of the fandom still struggles to identify mystra as his abuser, is because she is a white woman who initially presents herself in a soft-spoken, benevolent manner… and well, the fact that gale himself is ambitious to a fault and a lil insane about the promise of power. he also briefly mentions "crossing mystra’s boundaries” when he confides in tav and tells them about his folly. (“i am, after all, the villain in this story.”) which led to a looooot of misinterpretations.

leaving the overall lore and mystra’s treatment of her other chosen aside — what we can discern from her interactions with gale in-game, is that mystra is civil as long as she remains in control and gale follows her demands, but as soon as there’s even a slight mention of challenging her power or defying her rule, she rather quickly changes her tone.

there is also one particular exchange between them that just won’t leave my head:

“you were many things to me, but never a threat. and never a savior."

even if we choose to blatantly ignore the fact that mystra is a deity, his goddess - there is no possible way that their relationship ever could have been equal by any mortal standards. the power imbalance that comes with her being his teacher and a symbol of his admiration, plus the sheer control she holds over him and his powers are simply too great. don’t even let me get started on how it is a common tactic of abusers to isolate their victims from any outside influences so they can exert full control over them. and how up to meeting tav and their merry band of misfits, every single soul he was close to was inevitably tied to mystra in one way or another. he briefly mentions his colleagues and then there’s elminster, also mystra’s chosen and former lover, and tara, who is a fine wizard in her own right. he spend so many years in service of her, dedicating his life to her, that now there is no one left he can truly call a friend. most of his little anecdotes and stories he tells are restricted to his childhood and university days, everything else was mystra.

evidently, ordering gale to detonate the orb is the most efficient course of action in her eyes. he is just as expendable as any other mortal, after all. maybe once significantly more useful given his status and the extent of his powers, but she doesn’t feel sorrow nor remorse for ordering him to end his life. his death is simply the most convenient means to an end.

another thing i would also like to briefly touch upon is the trigger/detonator itself. a dagger to the heart. it could have been literally anything else, a simple incantation. it is well within mystra’s power to stabilize the orb and also to remove it from his body entirely. but no, what she requires of gale is to stab himself. one might argue that it was simply a cinematic choice meant for a more dramatic effect, but it really leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. especially considering the fact that she is commonly known and referred to as a jealous goddess. it almost makes it seem like yet another form of punishment or mere pettiness. after his long period of isolation, gale is now surrounded by fellow humans. people he cares about, even perhaps people he might eventually consider good friends — which is enough of a reason for him to not want to die, to keep going and try to find another way, rather than to blindly follow mystra’s bidding. now there’s a group of people who support him and are genuinely invested in him staying alive. hmmm...

I already explored the possibility of Nightmare burning at the stake (not necessarily for their past but in the future) but it’s definitely something I thought of for their past too

But I never thought of the idea of him being hanged… and it’s so fucking tragic to think about

But like is it before Nightmare’s inevitable corruption or after? As I feel like it’s impossible to even get close to Nightmare after his corruption, so I’m thinking maybe even in the process of him getting corrupted?

Imagine if that is why Nightmare kills his own mother? What if it is out of anger at his mother or even just to save himself? Like he cut the tree down so he wouldn’t suffocate?

What if he has the biggest mark on his neck cause of him being hanged??

And it’s also fascinating how that could change Nightmare’s view on trees for me, I like to think Nightmare finds comfort in trees but if he were to be hanged I think that’ll make trees just a negative trigger for his C-PTSD
