Am back to pack my dinner from Western Boy Express on the way back from office. Ordered the S$8.90 Chicken Steak Aglio Olio (鸡扒蒜香意面) plus add in S$3 set meal and extra S$0.50 takeaway box surcharge. Trust me, it is worth to make it a set meal as you get a crisp salad, cheesy fries and creamy mushroom soup to go with the main course. The pan-fried boneless chicken thigh can barely fit inside the box atop the olive oil-based spaghetti. The skin is charred and crispy while the chicken still remains juicy and tender.

World Food Day
Join a World Food Day event like a contest, tasting, or cultural showcase, or donate your time or money to food charities that provide food to those in need.
Food brings people together in a huge variety of ways, from family gatherings to first dates. Everyone has a favorite food, with varieties ranging from pizza to pasta, cookies to cakes, and all of the good stuff in between! So many amazing dishes and ingredients are available to indulge in today, and World Food Day celebrates them all.
Learn About World Food Day
World Food Day is not only about celebrating the amazing food that people have the privilege of indulging in, but it is about raising awareness for people who do not have such privilege. People all over the world who suffer from hunger. Starvation is a massive problem in a number of countries, and we need to do more to raise awareness and combat this problem.
World Food Day can also be leveraged to raise awareness about healthy diets and what bodies need. In recent times, education has grown about healthy diets and which foods are healthy or unhealthy, but we are not there yet! World Food Day offers a great opportunity to further education and awareness in this area.
History of World Food Day
World Food Day was established in 1945 by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a specialized agency of the United Nations. But it would be another 34 years before it was recognized as a world holiday at the 20th FAO conference in November 1979. Following this, 150 countries proceeded to celebrate the day once it gained its official recognition by the United Nations. Since 2014, the popularity of the day has been used to promote the idea of feeding the world and eliminating poverty in rural nations.
The main principle World Food Day celebrates is the furtherance of food security all over the globe, especially in times of crisis. The launch of the Food and Agriculture Organization by the UN has played a huge role in taking this worthy goal forward. Its annual celebration serves as a marker of the importance of this organization and helps to raise awareness of the crucial need for successful agriculture policies to be implemented by governments across the world to ensure there is ample food available for everyone.
In recent years, World Food Day has used its annual day of celebration to focus on different aspects of food security and agriculture, including fishing communities, climate change and biodiversity.
A number of different themes have been attributed to World Food Day over the years. Some past themes have included: Climate is changing. Food and agriculture must too; Social Protection and Agriculture: Breaking the Cycle of Rural Poverty and Feeding the world, caring for the earth.
Many different organizations around the world now celebrate this day, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Food Programme. Many businesses also take part.
World Food Day is a reminder that coming together with friends and family around a well-set table is a privilege that not everyone can enjoy, but is one that everyone should experience.
How to Celebrate World Food Day
A number of opportunities exist to get involved with World Food Day! Celebrate the day with some of these ideas:
Make a Donation to a Food Bank or Charity
One of the best ways to celebrate World Food Day is by giving food to people who need it the most. If you do a quick search online, you should be able to find the nearest food bank to you. Most food banks are happy to accept food or money. The sort of food that is in a typical food parcel includes cookies, canned fruit, tea, coffee, canned vegetables, canned meat, beans, pasta sauce, rice, pasta, soup, and cereal.
World Food Day is also a great time to donate to a charity. You could also opt to do some fundraising as well. There are many different ways you can go about this, from fundraising events to sponsored activities. If you are able to raise awareness and some money in the process, it’s a great thing!
Visit a Farm or Food Producer
World Food Day might be a great time to understand where food comes from by visiting a local farm or dairy, or even visiting an open kitchen restaurant to see the time and effort that goes into creating such delicious food.
Attend a World Food Day Event
A number of different events take place on World Food Day, so it is worth looking into these to see if there is anything going on in your local area. This includes everything from concerts and contests to cultural performances, exhibitions, hunger marches, and marathons. And if there isn’t anything going on in the local area, why not be the person to host the event?
Learn More About Countries Around the World
Countries all around the world need help because they are battling starvation, such as Kenya. In countries like Kenya, the price of basic foods has skyrocketed, which has resulted in a large number of children going hungry. A lot of different charities work hard to change the lives of families and children who need it the most, ensuring they have the food they need to survive.
It is worth spending some time researching the different ways that countries all around the world honor World Food Day. More than 150 countries participate in this day, and there are conferences and different events that happen all around the world.
For example, in the United States, the Iowa Hunger Summit has been held on World Food Day, or near to the date, since 2007. In Cuba, the media strongly supports awareness on various campaigns relating to World Food Day, and an agricultural fair is held so that producers can exchange their experiences and views.
In Mongolia, they have made it tradition to organize the Food Security conference on World Food Day. This event is about promoting research to develop regulations and policies, as well as valuing the contributions of researchers and scholars to the country’s food security. In Cyprus, special ceremonies are organized in secondary and primary schools where teachers teach their students about World Food Day. In Italy, many exhibitions and conferences are held by NGOs, international agencies, research agencies, universities, and ministries.
A lot of countries also use this day to support the people in their society who need it the most. For example, in the Philippines, a lot of the work is focused on increasing food gifts to poor urban families. The same has occurred in Pakistan whereby they provide food packages to the poor on this date.

Late Again | Quinn Hughes

Pairing; Quinn Hughes x Fem!Reader
Warning(s); Established relationship, angst, cursing, not sure what else, edited once.
Summary; Inspired by this request: Hi hi!! I love your writing, especially for Quinn and I was just wondering if you could write some Quinn x reader angst? Like maybe he's been coming home late and she reaches her breaking point w him? Tysm!! 💕💗
Word Count; 3.4k
Author’s note; This was requested sooo long ago n I'm so sorry for the wait, but nonetheless I hope you like it. 😊 I listened to the song The Exit by Conan Gray when I wrote this, it doesn't fit the vibe, but it's a great song I newly discovered. Also I have no idea if he likes chicken fried steak, I just chose something random lol -Honey
You poked at the dinner you'd carefully prepared—chicken-fried steak, Quinn's favorite—half-heartedly pushing the mashed potatoes around your plate with your fork. The food was getting cold, untouched. You couldn't even bring yourself to take a bite. A home game tonight against the St. Louis Blues—he’d mentioned it this morning, and you’d nodded, knowing the routine all too well by now. Quick meal, pregame nap, then off to the rink. You understood how demanding his schedule was, but tonight was supposed to be different. He promised. The effort you put in, starting dinner earlier than usual so he’d have time to eat before his nap, now felt wasted. The smell of the crispy steak and buttery potatoes filled the air, but it only made you feel emptier.
You sat alone at the dinner table, your eyes flicking toward your phone every few minutes, hoping for the screen to light up with a message from him. But it never did. The minutes stretched into an hour, the silence from your phone growing heavier with every second. He’d promised to be home for dinner today—said it with that familiar smile like he really meant it this time. But here you were, waiting, yet again. The clock on the wall ticked louder in the empty room. The sound seemed to amplify the absence, reminding you of just how late he was. You glanced at your phone one more time, willing it to show some sign of life—an apology, an excuse, anything—but the screen stayed dark. Not a text. Not a call. Nothing.
You took a deep breath, trying to quiet the disappointment clawing at your chest, but it didn’t help. The food, once so full of effort and care, now seemed like a mockery of your good intentions. You wondered if he even realized how much you’d gone out of your way tonight, or if he’d forgotten, caught up in his routine, his career, his world. You weren’t sure anymore.
An hour and a half late now. You stood up from the table, abandoning the cold meal as you walked over to the window, peeking outside as if expecting to see his car pulling into the driveway. Nothing. The quiet suburban street was empty, just as it always was. The sky had started to darken, and with it, the flicker of hope you’d been clinging to all evening. How many more times would you find yourself waiting, wondering if you were ever going to be a priority in his life again?
The more you thought about it, the more the dull ache of disappointment twisted itself into something sharper, hotter—anger. It started as a slow simmer in your chest, but with each passing second, the heat rose, spreading through your veins like wildfire. Was he serious? A bitter sigh escaped your lips as you walked back into the kitchen. You grabbed your plate first, then his—untouched, of course—and headed to the garbage can. With one swift motion, you scraped the food into the garbage, the chicken-fried steak falling in with a dull thud. It almost felt like a relief to throw it away, like you were getting rid of something that no longer had meaning. The mashed potatoes smeared against the sides of the plate as you tossed the rest, the food you’d spent time making reduced to nothing more than trash.
The pans on the stove caught your eye next, and before you even realized what you were doing, you were scooping the perfectly good leftovers into the trash as well. The scent of the meal you’d so carefully prepared—the aroma of rosemary, garlic—rose up as if to remind you of the effort you'd put in. It stung, but you didn’t care. Fuck that. He didn’t deserve your cooking. He didn’t deserve the time, the thoughtfulness. Not anymore.
His favorite meal, no less. What a joke. You felt ridiculous for even caring so much, for putting in the effort when he clearly couldn’t be bothered to be home like he'd promised, or even give you the courtesy of a text.
You slammed the pans down into the sink with more force than necessary, the clang reverberating in the quiet kitchen. You stood over the sink, glaring at the pile of dirty dishes, your hands tightening and un-tightening at your sides. The dishwasher was right there, but using it felt too easy, too detached. You needed something more physical, something to work out this simmering frustration before it consumed you.
So, instead, you grabbed the sponge and turned on the water, scrubbing the first plate with a force that made your knuckles whiten. The warm, soapy water splashed up against your arms, but you didn’t care. You scrubbed harder, as if each circular motion could somehow scrub away the resentment building inside you. The plate wasn’t even that dirty, but you attacked it like it was covered in grime.
Each scrape of the sponge against ceramic echoed in the quiet kitchen, filling the space where his excuses should have been. The more you scrubbed, the more it felt like you were scrubbing away the traces of him—his absence, his broken promises, his selfishness. If only it were that easy. If only a sink full of dishes could clean up all the messes he was leaving behind.
It was Quinn’s second year as captain of the Canucks, a role that had transformed him in ways you hadn’t fully anticipated. The weight of the 'C' on his chest seemed heavier this season, with expectations higher than ever after last year’s breakout performance. The team had exceeded everyone’s predictions, turning heads and silencing critics with a season no one saw coming. Now, all eyes were on them to prove it wasn’t just a fluke.
You knew Quinn was feeling that pressure—how could he not? He had something to prove, not just to the fans, the media, or his teammates, but to himself. The burden of leadership was always in the back of his mind, quietly pushing him to go harder, to be better, to set an example. And you understood that. You really did. You knew he was doing the best he could, managing the weight of it all in his own way. But even understanding had its limits. And so did you.
Quinn, on the other hand, seemed to have no boundaries when it came to pushing himself. It was almost like he didn’t know how to stop, how to pull back. Even now, he was still nursing that hand injury—an injury that should have sidelined him weeks ago—but he kept playing through it, insisting he could handle the pain. Thirty minutes a night, almost every game, skating until exhaustion blurred the edges of his vision. You’d seen the way he winced sometimes when he thought no one was looking, flexing his hand to work out the tightness, but refusing to sit out even for a single shift.
You admired his dedication. How could you not? His determination, his relentless drive to push through, to carry the weight of the team on his shoulders—it was part of what made him the player, the leader, that he was. But it was also the part of him that worried you the most.
You knew he felt like he had to do it, that as captain, anything less than perfection wasn’t enough. And while you respected that drive, it didn’t make it any easier watching him run himself into the ground night after night. Especially when you were the one sitting at home, picking up the pieces of what was left, wondering if he was going to come back from each game a little more broken than before.
You were patient. You’d learned to be. But your patience wasn’t endless.
The sound of the front door opening jolted you from your thoughts, the creak of the hinges cutting through the sound of the running water. You pause, your hands submerged in soapy water, your grip tightening on the sponge as Quinn stepped inside. He walks in, clad in his usual post-practice attire—Nike sweatpants hanging low on his hips and a black compression shirt clinging to the lines of his torso. He looked worn, as if the weight of the day hadn’t just been left on the ice but was still hanging on his shoulders, pulling him down.
You glanced over your shoulder, giving him a quick once-over, but you didn’t say anything. The words felt stuck in your throat, trapped behind the frustration and sadness swirling in your chest. Instead, you turned back to the dishes, resuming your task with more force than necessary, the clinking of the plates louder than before. You didn’t offer a greeting, and neither did he. It was almost as if the two of you existed in different worlds now—yours, filled with waiting and disappointment, and his, consumed by the game, by the pressure that never seemed to leave him.
Quinn, oblivious or perhaps just avoiding the tension, didn’t seem to notice your silence. Without a word, he headed upstairs, his footsteps soft but steady, the sound growing fainter as he disappeared into the bedroom. A familiar ache settled in your chest as you stood there, staring down at the soapy water swirling in the sink. You could feel the sting of tears threatening to rise, but you blinked them away quickly, shaking your head at yourself.
Anger had been your companion all day, burning hot and steady in his absence. It had been so easy to hold onto, so easy to let the frustration build when you didn’t have to see him, when you didn’t have to look into those hazel eyes that always seemed to make your resolve crumble. The anger had felt justified when he wasn’t there—easy to fuel when it was just you, alone, staring at a cold, empty dinner table. But now that he was home, the anger began to unravel, slipping away and leaving only the sadness behind. It happened every time. That familiar pang of disappointment mixed with resignation, the sharp edges of your frustration softening into something more complicated, something you didn’t have the energy to untangle.
You bit your tongue, holding back the words you wanted to say—the questions, the accusations, the things that would start a fight you weren’t ready to have. You’d been here before, in this exact moment, torn between wanting to yell and wanting to break down. But you didn’t want to argue tonight. Not again.
The dishes were your only focus now, your hands scrubbing mechanically as your mind raced with thoughts you couldn’t quiet. You wondered if he even knew how much you’d been waiting, not just tonight, but for weeks, months—for some sign that you still mattered in all of this, that you were still a part of his world. But it was getting harder to tell, harder to feel like you weren’t slowly fading into the background of his life, just like the sound of his footsteps fading upstairs.
By the time you finished the dishes and wiped down the counters, the kitchen was spotless, as if the day hadn’t happened at all. The room was clean, but the heavy silence remained, settling into the spaces between the freshly scrubbed surfaces. You paused for a moment, staring down at the empty sink, the exhaustion setting in—not just from the chores, but from everything that had been weighing on you lately.
When you finally made your way upstairs to the bedroom, Quinn had already begun his pregame nap. You stopped in the doorway, leaning against the frame for a moment, just watching him. He was sprawled out on his stomach, the way he always slept, one arm curled beneath the pillow, his face turned slightly to the side. In sleep, the tension in his features was gone, the hard lines softened, and for a brief second, you felt a pang of something—nostalgia, maybe—for the way things used to be. Before all the pressure, before the distance between you had grown so wide.
You stood there, caught between wanting to crawl into bed next to him and knowing it wouldn’t make a difference tonight. He was already somewhere else, lost in the brief reprieve of sleep before the game. You let out a quiet breath and turned away, heading back downstairs, leaving him to his rest.
In the den, you curled up on the sofa, pulling a throw blanket over your legs as you flicked on the TV. The familiar theme song of One Tree Hill played in the background, but your mind wasn’t fully on the show. You watched the characters move across the screen, but their drama felt distant, unimportant compared to the real-life ache sitting in your chest. You’d seen these episodes a hundred times before, and yet tonight they felt like nothing more than white noise, a distraction to fill the space while Quinn slept upstairs.
Time passed in a blur of dialogue and background music, your eyes unfocused on the screen. You’d just started another episode when you heard footsteps approaching. You barely registered them until Quinn appeared in the doorway, leaning against the frame just like you had earlier. He stood there for a moment, running a hand through his hair, before exhaling a deep sigh that seemed to carry the weight of everything unsaid between you.
"I missed dinner," he said, his voice quiet. It wasn’t a question, just a statement. The guilt was there, hanging in the air between you, but it didn’t quite land the way you wanted it to.
You turned your head toward him, feeling the familiar mix of emotions bubbling up—frustration, sadness, the lingering ache of disappointment. You nodded slowly, your voice calm but clipped. "You did."
That was all you said. Two simple words, but they carried so much more. The weight of your unspoken thoughts lingered in the air between you: You missed more than dinner. You missed me. You missed us. Again.
For a moment, Quinn didn’t say anything, just stood there, as if searching for something to say that would make it better. But nothing came. The silence stretched on, and you could see the exhaustion in his eyes, the same exhaustion that you felt deep in your bones. Hockey had taken so much from him, and in its wake, it felt like there wasn’t much left for the two of you.
You shifted on the couch, turning back to the TV, not sure what else there was to say. If you opened your mouth now, you weren’t sure if you’d be able to stop the flood of everything you’d been holding back. So you stayed quiet, letting the distance between you grow a little wider, hoping—just once—that he’d be the one to cross it.
Quinn lingered in the doorway for a moment longer, the silence between you heavy and uncomfortable. You could feel his eyes on you, like he wanted to say something, to bridge the growing gap, but the words didn’t come. Instead, he just stood there, his shoulders slumped, the weariness from the day etched into every part of him.
You kept your eyes on the TV, pretending to be more interested in the show than in the ache inside you. You didn’t trust yourself to look at him right now—not when the quiet between you felt so suffocating, so loaded with everything neither of you were saying. If you looked at him, you were afraid the dam would break, and all the frustration, the loneliness, the resentment that had been simmering beneath the surface would come pouring out.
He took a deep breath, and you could hear the slight hesitation in the exhale, like he was on the verge of speaking but didn’t know where to start. "I’m sorry," he finally muttered, the words barely audible, but they hung in the air nonetheless. It wasn’t much, and it wasn’t enough, but it was something.
You closed your eyes for a brief second, letting the apology settle in, but it didn’t ease the ache. You had heard it before—too many times now. It always came after the fact, always when it was too late, and it never felt like enough to patch up the cracks that were forming between you.
Opening your eyes, you kept your gaze fixed on the TV, though you weren’t really watching. "You always are," you said softly, your voice lacking the sharpness you intended. There was no anger left, just a quiet exhaustion that had taken its place. "But it doesn’t change anything, Quinn."
The words hung between you, heavy and final. You didn’t mean for them to sound so distant, so resigned, but that’s where you were now. It wasn’t just about tonight, or the missed dinners, or the broken promises—it was about the slow unraveling that had been happening for months, the quiet slipping away of the relationship you once had.
Quinn pushed off the doorframe, his expression unreadable as he took a few steps into the room. He stood at the edge of the sofa, as if unsure whether he was welcome to sit down. His eyes, those familiar hazel eyes that once made your heart skip, were full of something—regret, frustration, maybe even guilt. But none of it seemed to change the fact that he wasn’t there when you needed him most.
"I know," he said, almost under his breath. He rubbed a hand over his face, the fatigue obvious. "I’m trying, I really am. It’s just—this season… it’s a lot." His voice trailed off, and you could hear the helplessness in it. He didn’t know how to fix this, and maybe he didn’t have the energy to try anymore.
You nodded, finally turning to look at him, but the sadness in your gaze must have said more than your words ever could. You understood that the season was demanding. You understood the pressure, the expectations, the endless grind. But understanding didn’t make it any easier to deal with the growing distance, the nights spent waiting, the feeling that you were slowly becoming an afterthought in his life.
"I know it’s a lot," you replied quietly, meeting his eyes for the first time since he’d walked in. "But it’s not just about the game, Quinn. It’s about us. I’m still here, waiting for you to show up… and I don’t know how much longer I can keep waiting."
The vulnerability in your voice hung in the air, and for a brief moment, you saw the conflict flicker across his face—worry, a twinge of something else, maybe fear. He took another deep breath, his hands flexing at his sides as if he wanted to reach out to you but wasn’t sure how.
"I don’t want to lose you," he said finally, his voice barely above a whisper, as if admitting it out loud made it all too real.
You swallowed hard, your chest tightening at his words. For a second, you almost believed him, almost let yourself hope that this was the moment he’d truly understand how close he was to losing you. But then reality sank in, and you realized that wanting wasn’t enough.
"You already are," you said softly, the weight of your admission settling over both of you like a heavy blanket. You saw his expression falter, the pain in his eyes unmistakable, but there was nothing more you could say. You were tired—tired of the waiting, tired of the excuses, tired of being second to hockey and everything else in his life.
Quinn stood there, rooted in place, his eyes searching yours for some sign that he could fix this, that there was still time. But you didn’t know how to make him understand that you needed more than apologies, more than empty promises. You needed him to be here, fully present, not just physically but emotionally.
Without another word, he let out another sigh and slowly walked back toward the doorway, retreating once again into the space between you that had become too wide to cross. And you stayed on the couch, watching the TV, your heart aching with the truth you couldn’t ignore any longer: the Quinn you once knew was slipping away, and you didn’t know if he would ever come back.

Applebee's Custom Food Part 3

Slightly more than a month had passed and I had to pack dinner for myself and mum. So I introduced her to Western Boy Express and their Chicken Steak Aglio Olio (鸡扒蒜香意面). Guess what, she enjoyed her crispy and juicy chicken pasta dinner and now often asked for it. The last time I declined to top up for the set meal so this time I paid S$3 to add a salad, fries with nacho cheese sauce & mayonnaise plus a mushroom soup.

Burger Day
A juicy, flavorful patty nestled between soft, toasted buns, adorned with melted cheese, crispy bacon, and a tangy sauce. A burger is a classic meal that satisfies the soul and the taste buds.
Burgers are indeed the source of true happiness, a fact supported by the rich cheesy topping, crisp flavorful onion, and splash of tomato that brings it all together with a pickle tang finish.
Or maybe you’re a bolder sort, enjoying their burger topped with onion rings and barbecue sauce in a true Western-style and a splash of blue cheese. Whatever the case, it’s hard to argue that the burger isn’t the perfect food, and Burger Day is here to celebrate it in all its glory.
History Of Burger Day
Burger Day was established by Mr. Hyde to celebrate their favorite food, and all the places they’ve sampled that make them. It’s a great system, free from any of the false advertising you may experience elsewhere. As they say, “If we say we like a burger place, it’s because we ate there and liked it.” Burger Day was created to vaunt the glories of this most perfect of meals, technically a sandwich, really a whole meal.
There is an on-running debate over who actually invented the burger. Some believe that it was invented in Hamburg, Germany, or to be more precise, the meat that would become the hamburger was. Ground beef used to be considered a waste product, the leftovers of the prime cuts that were then sold off on the cheap.
These days premium ground beef is the foundation of one of the world’s most popular foods. It got its start as a hamburger steak, a popular dish served with multiple variations, but one day it found its way onto a bun, met cheese and bacon, and has never looked back. Burger Day is your opportunity (excuse?) to indulge in as many of these delicious concoctions as you desire!
However, other people assert that the hamburger originated with Louis Lassen, a Danish immigrant who cooked up the first patty in 1900 in New Haven, using ideas he’d picked up in Europe.
The hamburger made its official debut at the 1904 St. Louis food festival, but it didn’t really take off properly until mass commercialization of the concept in the following decades. Hamburgers weren’t originally a delectable, trendy fast-food item. Instead, they grew out of economic necessity. Innovators in the food industry needed a way to use off-cuts of meat productively, instead of just throwing them to the dogs. They wanted a tasty meal that they could sell quickly to prevent spoilage. So the humble burger seemed like the obvious choice.
During the Great Depression of the 1930s, the need for cheap food reached even greater heights. Seeing hunger and poverty, entrepreneurs looked for ways to get tasty food into people’s bellies without the usual price tag. So they began developing machines that would churn out burgers en masse.
Soon the price of patties fell even further, but there was a problem: people didn’t have anywhere to go and eat them. Fortunately, the development of the hamburger coincided with the emergence of the “greasy spoon.” Innovative restaurateurs realized that they could draw in punters by providing public access to new radio services springing up all around the country. Burgers were an obvious, cheap, and delicious menu choice.
Whatever the truth about their origins, hamburgers are one of the most popular foods in the world and a dietary staple. Juicy Foods in Oregon made the biggest burger in history. It weighed in at 777 lbs and cost the company more than $5,000 to make.
How To Celebrate Burger Day
Celebrating Burger Day is one of the easiest, most entertaining, and absolutely delicious celebrations we can imagine. You eat burgers. Yep, that simple. Enjoy a nice juicy burger as many times as your heart desires, in as many different configurations.
We suggest hosting a great bit burger cookout at your house or at friends, where everyone makes their favorite variety with their favorite toppings and introduces it to the group. Worst case scenario, you meet another burger you absolutely can’t live without, but that’s what Burger Day is all about.
Interestingly, though, you don’t have to limit yourself to the traditional burger on Burger Day, if you’re the sort of person who regularly visits fast-food outlets. Over the last few years, we’ve seen the inexorable rise of the gourmet burger – a burger that combines the traditional patty with premium ingredients.
Premium burgers are usually based on popular food themes from around the world. So, for instance, you could have a burger that makes liberal use of avocado, lime, and chili or one that uses flavors like peanut and lemongrass. Spend the day experimenting to your heart’s content.
Another thing you can do is celebrate the fact that the humble burger’s definition is now vastly expanded. While beef patties are classic, they’re no longer the only game in town. Today, you have a host of options, including chicken burgers, turkey burgers, fake meat burgers, and even portabella mushroom burgers if you eat veggie.
The more intellectual among you might also want to come up with new recipes and share them in blog posts on social media. The world is crying out for fun, new burger recipes that people can enjoy after a busy day. And you’re precisely the type of person who can provide them. Share a burger to spread the love and celebrate this marvelous day.

author's note ; i literally feeling like this crying bulldog. you eating healthy because you wanna lose weight, i eat fcking plain food because my stomach takes any fried, junk food, anything that is not boiled as personal offence... we are not the same😔😔 (i'm jealous one)
it's just self inserted, this stuff been my personal pain for past 2 months, so yeah... cheers to everyone suffering from same shit or just dieting ✌🏻😔
Hwangyeon Choi (as worst supporter ever, but best gremlin)

it was saturday evening, and you found yourself seated across from Hwangyeon, watching in half-amusement, half-despair as he polished off his second order of extra-crispy, extra-spicy fried chicken. the smell alone was enough to make you feel a deep, primal longing. you sat with your rice bowl, glancing over at him with big, round eyes as he tore into a piece, all smiles and bliss.
he noticed your stare and grinned, holding up a crispy wing in front of you. “hey, you sure you don’t want to try it? just one little piece?”
you sighed dramatically. “Hwangyeon, my stomach thinks fried food is a personal attack. one bite and i’ll be dying on the couch, moaning about my life choices, and then you’ll feel guilty and be like, ‘i’m so sorry for making you try it.’”
he raised an eyebrow, giving you an exaggerated skeptical look. “me? feel guilty? nah, I’d be fine. i’d be over here with my crispy wing, whispering sweet nothings to it. ‘shh, don’t listen to her, baby. you’re perfect just as you are.’”
you burst out laughing, swatting his arm. “you would be whispering to fried chicken! who’s your real girlfriend here, Hwangyeon?”
he gave the wing an exaggerated kiss before taking another bite, groaning in pure bliss. “this is the love of my life,” he mumbled around a mouthful of chicken. “seriously, it’s a miracle food. crispy, spicy, juicy — how do you not eat this?”
you gave him an amused, knowing look. “i did try it. once. remember? and then i spent the entire next day clutching my stomach in agony, and you looked at me like i’d broken your heart.”
Hwangyeon paused, looking sheepish. “okay, maybe i do remember that. but come on! you’re missing out!”
you leaned back, crossing your arms. “oh, i’m missing out? on what, babe? six hours of burning stomach and that lovely bloated feeling where i can’t button my pants?”
he winced, then grinned. “look, that’s just part of the experience.”
you groaned, burying your face in your hands with a dramatic sigh. “evil. pure evil. how do i even tolerate you?”
“easy.” he took another smug bite. “i’m adorable and you’re totally in love with me.”
“bitch” you mumbled, pretending to sulk. “one day, i’ll join you, and you’ll be the one who has to keep up with me.”
he took another bite, savoring it with his eyes closed. “and i am up for the challenge, no problem.”
you picked at your rice, giving him a mock suspicious look. “you know, if you ever do feel guilty, you could totally try some of my healthy, boiled food for a change.”
he stopped mid-bite, looking at you like you’d just suggested he jump off a cliff. “boiled… food? like, with no seasoning?”
you gave him a smirk. “like lightly seasoned. very healthy, good for your stomach, and won’t make you feel like a rock is sitting inside you. you should try it!”
Hwangyeon scrunched up his face, feigning horror. “lightly seasoned? oh no, next you’ll tell me you eat plain rice and drink unsweetened tea.” (no seriously, adding sugar to tea should be legally punished)
you raised your tea glass. “cheers to unsweetened tea.”
he looked scandalized. “i can’t even imagine… what does your stomach have against happiness?”
he picked up another wing, waving it in front of your face with a wicked grin.
and despite the fact that you still craved this chicken, you couldn’t help but laugh along with him.
Ma Teasoo (as steak king and grumpy old man 'it was better back in my days')

another cozy night in with Taesoo, and as usual, he was happily devouring a mountain of grilled steak and ribs. the savory aroma filled the air, and you couldn’t help but watch him with a mix of longing and amusement. he expertly handled his chopsticks, tearing into a juicy piece of meat, while you poked at your bowl of plain rice and boiled chicken.
Taesoo glanced over, his brow furrowing as he took in your meal. “are you really just having that?” he grumbled, shaking his head. “come on, babe, you should eat more. this isn’t enough to keep you going!”
you crossed your arms defensively. “it’s plenty for me! my stomach can’t handle heavy stuff, and i’m doing just fine with this.”
he let out an exaggerated sigh, his expression a mix of disbelief and concern. “boiled chicken and rice? that’s not real food! how do you expect to be strong? you need some good meat in your life!”
you raised an eyebrow, giving him a playful glare. “and end up feeling awful? no thanks! too much seasoning or salt or oil makes me feel like i’m dying.”
he huffed, rolling his eyes dramatically. “i just don’t get it! if i had to live on that, i’d be miserable. you’d be happier with a good steak!”
you chuckled, your lips curving into a smirk. “strong enough to be doubled over in pain? i’ll stick with my plain food, thank you very much!”
he leaned back in his chair, arms crossed, looking like a grumpy old man. “you’re too stubborn for your own good. one bite wouldn’t hurt! just imagine the flavor —”
“flavor i can’t handle, Taesoo!” you interrupted, raising your hands as if to ward him off. “i appreciate your concern, but i know what works for my stomach.”
he shook his head, still looking unconvinced. “you know, back in my day, we didn’t eat this rabbit food nonsense. we had real meals! if you were tired, you ate a good meat, and that fixed everything.”
you couldn’t help but laugh at his grumbling. “first, babe, what do you mean 'back in my days' you literally just two years older! second, if i ate a steak, i’d be on the couch moaning about my stomach for hours. not exactly my idea of a good time.”
he let out a reluctant chuckle, but his expression softened. “fine, but you’ve gotta promise me you’ll eat something more substantial than plain rice every now and then. just don’t make this a habit!”
you smiled, giving his hand a reassuring squeeze. “deal. i’ll throw in some boiled chicken and veggies. but i get to choose my meals, okay?”
“alright, alright,” he said, still looking a bit grumpy but unable to hide the affection in his eyes. “but i’ll always be ready to sneak some real food into your life when you’re not looking.”
you laughed, knowing full well he meant every word. and despite his gruff demeanor, his caring nature was always there, hidden behind the grumbles and playful complaints.
no but seriously, speaking about this eating topic, i found some good points! i can do separate post if you interested🤓🤔
