✧.* #LANDOLEAKS
synopsis- Lando said your sex tape was for his eyes only…until it wasn’t
before you continue: this is sort of a continuation to my pr nightmare fic for lando! if you enjoyed, please reblog and give me a follow xx

✧.* yours and landos reaction
You groggily open your eyes to the persistent buzz of your phone on the nightstand. Beside you, Lando stirs, rubbing his eyes as he reaches for his own phone, mirroring your confusion.
“What time is it?” you mumble, squinting at the bright screen in the dim room. The soft glow of dawn filters through the curtains, casting a muted light on the chaos that’s about to unfold. Lando doesn’t answer, his attention captured by the flurry of notifications and messages flooding his phone. His brows furrow in concern, and you can feel the tension in the air.
You glance at your own screen, eyes widening as you see the trending hashtag: #LandoLeaks. Your heart skips a beat as you click on it, a mixture of dread and disbelief washing over you. There, in stark reality, are snippets of a private video you and Lando thought was secure, now shared for the world to see.
“Oh no,” you whisper, the words barely audible over the pounding of your heart. Lando looks at you, his expression mirroring your own shock and dismay.
“This can’t be happening,” he mutters, running a hand through his tousled hair. “How did this get out?”
You feel a wave of anger and violation surge through you. “Someone must have hacked into your iCloud,” you say, trying to process the situation. “We need to do something, and fast.”
Lando nods, determination replacing the initial shock in his eyes. “First, we need to contact our teams and get this taken down,” he says, already dialing numbers on his phone. “Then, we’ll figure out who did this.”
As you watch him spring into action, you can’t help but feel a mix of emotions—anger, fear, but also a strange sense of resolve. Together, you would get through this. You always did.
With a deep breath, you start typing a message to your publicist, hoping that amidst the chaos, you and Lando could reclaim some sense of control over your lives.
In the next few hours, the house becomes a hub of frantic activity. Calls and emails fly back and forth between you, Lando, and your respective teams. Legal advisors, publicists, and social media managers are looped in to manage the crisis. The video is being taken down from various platforms, but the damage has been done. Screenshots and clips have already spread like wildfire.
Your phone rings, and it’s your publicist. “We need to get ahead of this story,” she says urgently. “A statement from both of you, emphasizing your privacy has been violated, and that legal action is being taken.”
You look over at Lando, who’s on the phone with his own team. He catches your eye and gives a nod of understanding. “We’re on it,” you reply, ending the call.
Lando finishes his conversation and sits beside you. “How are you holding up?” he asks softly, placing a hand on your knee.
“Honestly? I’m furious and embarrassed,” you admit, fighting back tears. “But we need to stay strong and united.”
He pulls you into a comforting embrace. “We will get through this,” he reassures you. “Let’s draft that statement.”
You both sit at the dining table, laptops open, drafting a response that conveys your anger and frustration, but also your determination to reclaim your privacy.

EXCLUSIVE: Formula One Star Lando Norris and Influencer Girlfriend Y/N Y/L/N’s Intimate Video Leaked in iCloud Hack
By: Sasha, Rumour Radar
In a shocking turn of events, Formula One sensation Lando Norris and his influencer girlfriend Y/N Y/L/N have become the latest victims of a devastating iCloud hack. Early this week, the couple’s private videos and photos were leaked online, sending social media into a frenzy and causing the hashtag #LandoLeaks to trend worldwide.
The intimate videos, believed to be stored securely in Norris’s iCloud account, was maliciously accessed and disseminated, violating the couple’s privacy in the most invasive manner. Fans and followers of the McLaren driver and his popular partner woke up to the unexpected scandal, as the videos spread like wildfire across various platforms.
Privacy Breach Sends Shockwaves
Sources close to the couple reveal that Norris and Y/L/N were awakened by a barrage of notifications on their phones, alerting them to the unauthorized leak. “They were in complete shock and disbelief,” says an insider. “This is a deeply personal violation, and they’re understandably devastated”
In an exclusive statement to our publication, Norris’s management team expressed their outrage and confirmed immediate action is being taken to remove the content from the internet. “We are working with legal experts and cybersecurity professionals to address this breach of privacy and ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” the statement reads. “This is not just about Lando and Y/N, it’s about everyone’s right to privacy”
Digital Safety
The leak has sparked widespread condemnation from fans and fellow celebrities, who are rallying behind the couple with messages of support and solidarity. Many are calling for stricter measures to protect individuals’ private data and prevent such invasive breaches from occurring in the future.
As the couple works to regain control of their personal lives, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that even high-profile figures face in the digital age and also highlights the importance of digital privacy and responsible online behavior.
Our thoughts remain with Lando and Y/N during this challenging time, and we urge our readers to approach discussions with empathy and respect for all parties involved.
Stay tuned to Rumour Radar for the latest updates on this unfolding story and more celebrity gossip.

Hi!
can you do a fic w/ Oscar where the reader is a PhD student so they can’t really go to any of the races so fans online are DRAGGING her by saying she’s a bad gf, Oscar should cheat on her, and she doesn’t deserve him etc. Maybe she has like an identity crisis at a race and is questioning everything so Oscar is there to comfort and reassure her?
I’m sorry this is very long!
also I love your writing :)
The Psychology of Fans
Oscar Piastri x Reader
Genre: hurt/comfort, fluff, angst if you squint
Request: omg I love this idea, specifically because I am a student. Also send me ideas plz 🙏. I don't think y'all understand the excitement it brings me to make something that you enjoy :)
Summary: it's a busy time in readers life working on her PhD in psychology. She wants to support Oscar as much as possible but is struggling to find the time. The fans take notice of her lack of presence and start tearing her down because of it.
Warnings: Toxic fans, panic attacks
Notes: written in third person. This one was challenging, but fun to write!

Tumblr media
Everything had been going amazing for the couple. She was starting her PhD in psychology, and Oscar had signed with McLaren for a seat. They were ecstatic for eachother.
They had their own dynamic that worked for them. Spending time together when they could but being patient with the other if things didn't go to plan.
When they started dating, she had requested that her socials and information remain private. She didn't care if people knew they were dating. She just didn't want to deal with the fans and media while she was deep in her studies.
Things between them were great. Oscar tried to keep things as private as he could. It was simple during his formula 2 career when they started dating. There weren’t as many people watching his every step.
His fan base grew exponentially as soon as he signed with McLaren. All the sudden people were everywhere asking for pictures and autographs. All the while, people were asking about his dating life. They were asking questions about her.
When the Australian Grand Prix came around, she made sure she was there to see it. She wanted to support Oscar and his first formula 1 race. It was an exciting moment for him and you wanted to share it together.
The cameras and fans were relentless and ridiculous, in her opinion. Their was never a moment of peace since they wanted to know everything about Oscar and his guest.
After everything was said and done, the fans took nicely to her and Oscar. It was relieving for both of you. It gave the press team less to worry about. Not that either would have cared, but it was nice knowing he wouldn’t had to hear about it in meetings.
School had started picking up the pace. McLaren was struggling this season. It left both of them stressed and longing for each other. She wanted to support him more then what she was but her schedule didn’t allow for it.
Sometimes she would travel with Oscar but didn’t go to the track. It was a small gesture that he appreciated. He didn’t care where she was as long as she was cheering for him.
The fans had taken notice of her lack of attendance. Coming up with their own assumptions about why she wasn’t there. Calling her names that were untrue and hurtful
“Oscar deserves better.”
“Bet she just wants a top driver.”
“Maybe she has other guys when he’s gone.”
It was driving her insane. She knew it shouldn’t get under her skin, but it did. Oscar did deserve someone who could support him full time. Who cheered him on at every race. It was causing her more stress then she could manage.
She decided not to tell Oscar. The idea of burdening him anymore made her feel sick.
~
It was now the British Grand Prix and she had decided to go and support Oscar despite the work that was piling up on her plate. He had gotten new upgrades on his car and she was saying prayers that they worked.
She practically fell over when he finished fourth. Screaming in joy for the Australian who had been working so hard.
It was on their way out that everything seemed to fall apart.
Fans wanted pictures and the cameras were still in his face. He tried to shied the girl beside him from it, pulling into his side while he walked. It was then he heard what they were saying. Heat rising to his face.
“If you’re not going to say something nice then let us through please.” Oscar pushed past everyone and forced his way to their car.
He held her close that night and reassured her that they were spewing lies. This if they were acting like that then they weren’t real fans.
~
Oscar was shocked when she came to the Hungarian Grand Prix. He knew she was stressed about school. He saw the dark circles under her eyes. But she is absolutely determined.
Peoples criticism was getting worse by the day. Oscar had started to catch on since his PR team was now bringing it up but he didn’t want to push her.
It was the end of qualifying. Another success from Oscar. A success she didn’t get to see despite all her best efforts.
The thought of what everyone was saying ran wild in her head. An interaction with a few fans left her devastated. They were saying she was only here now because Oscar is doing well. How she should support him through it all. How he could do better then her. How he deserved more.
She was sobbing now. Her mind screaming insecurities. Her breath uneven and her hands clutching her head as she tried to block out the voices.
Oscar had been looking for her after the press conference. He wanted nothing more then to hold her in his arms and celebrate his achievement. He’d been looking for ten minutes with no sign of her.
He tried calling and texting, but had yet to receive an answer. Worry started to settle in his chest. His efforts now expedited only to run right into Lando.
“Have you seen y/n anywhere?” Oscar asks the Brit.
Lando, however, was out of breath. He had run around trying to find Oscar for a few minutes. “I heard her in your driver room. She sounds awful mate.”
Oscar didn’t waste a second moving in that direction. He felt a bit stupid for not having checked there first.
It didn’t take him long until he was swinging open the door to reveal her curled up on the floor. Her hands over her ears and body shaking.
He crouches down next to her. Slowly so he doesn’t scare her.
Sue didn't notice his presence. She couldn't even see her surroundings. Everything was going dark and she knew she needed to breathe or she would lose consciousness.
She heard faint yelling. "Lando!"
It was Oscar's voice. The sound almost drew her back to reality. But the dark confines of her mind had too much of a grip.
Oscar was ready to go into his own panicked state, but he needed to remain calm. He hears Lando slide into the doorway. His face dropping immediately now that he can actually see her.
Oscar takes her into his arms. Her curled up body was now placed between his legs. Her back against his chest.
She was completely absent. She wanted to protest and understand what was happening, but the fear of letting the voices in made her refrain from doing so.
It was difficult for Oscar to stay calm. He'd never seen her like this. He ran his fingers gently up and down her back. He uses his leg to push hers closer to the ground. Her body is trying to fight his, but the lack of air in her lungs makes it difficult.
Oscar wraps his arms around her now, pulling her further into him. Still trying every tech he knows to soothe her.
Lando came back with water and made his best attempt at coaching him through this.
She still was struggling to breathe, which concerned them both. Her hands gripped her head so hard he could see little spots of crimson in crescent shapes.
"Talk to her, mate. It might help her get out of her head."
Oscar nodded his head at Lando's suggestion. The Brit then ran off again to investigate what happened.
Instead of holding her around her middle, Oscar switched his tactics. Moving his hands to slip underneath hers. The little specks of blood now decorate his fingers.
Her mind was trying to grasp onto anything to bring her back. The thoughts are doing their best to pull her back under. She knows Oscar is there. She tries to ground herself with his touch.
He's repeating his words - a prayer falling from his lips willing her back to him. "I've got you. I'm here. Breathe. You're safe."
She tries to slow her erratic heart. Her body has been dry heaving and coughing from the sheer amount of static.
She finds the feeling in her arms and legs come back, using it to push herself further into Oscar. Then, finally, she can feel the thick cloud that has taken hold of her mind to start to filter through. The end of the tunnel in sight.
Her body practically goes limp. Oscar holds her up and leans her head on his chest. Trying to soothe the female in his lap.
Everything in her body hurts, but her lungs are finally getting some reprieve. She takes in the situation around her. Oscar's comforting touch keeps her present.
Her body stops trembling. Only little hiccups now escape as the tears slow. It hurts Oscar to see her like this. She looks broken and he dosen't know how he didn't catch it sooner.
"I'm sorry" falls from her lips. He just shushs her and continues to stroke her arm. "You deserve better than me."
Oscar is taken aback by her admission. He was too stunned to stop her before she continued on. "Other girls can be there to support you. They aren't as busy with school. They are prettier and can travel with you, and you wouldn't have to worry about them cheating -"
Oscar shifts them around until he can see her face. Her puffy teary eyes shattering him. He holds her face in his hands. “Other girls aren’t you.”
She can’t stop the tears from welling in her eyes again. A flurry of emotions tries to take hold once again.
“Who gave you that idea?”
She shakes her head. Willing him to ask anything else. Panic again rising into her throat as caught wrack her body. She tried to pull away from him. Her body starting to close in on itself again at the memories.
Oscar doesn’t let it happen. Holding her in place firmly yes every one of his touches are gentle and loving. He silently wills Lando to come back faster. His teammate has dealt with anxiety and would know better then him what to do.
“It’s okay, Love. We don’t have to talk about it.” He soothes and reassures her until her body goes lax agains his once again. Put exhaustion takes over and she can’t will herself to stay coherent and conscious any longer.
Oscar is relieved when she falls asleep on him. Her breathing becomes even and her body now relaxes.
Lando reappeared in the doorway ten minutes later; Out of breath and drenched in sweat. “Mate, you’re not gonna like this.”
~
The two boys moved the girl to the small couch and draped her against it gently.
Oscar was trying to hold in his rage. He wanted to storm out of the motor home and unleash his anger on everyone who ever said a word against his girl. The girl he loves. The one he chose and trusts and is ridiculously proud of. Her accomplishments deserve to be praised, not torn down by those who call themselves fans.
Lando had warned him against it. It would be a PR mess and might actually cause her more anxiety. So he bit his tongue and put on the Oscar everyone was used to seeing.
He practically sped through all his media duties. Wanting nothing more then to see that he got her back to the hotel room. Back to a safe environment where she could open up to him.
Oscar was done quickly and back in his room and changed within an hour. The woman asleep on the couch still breathing evenly.
He knew he didn’t need to, but he waited for Lando. The Brit had offered to help him get her back safely and fend off any media who tried to talk to them.
He welcomed the fact that they were distracted. Not caring much as passerby’s gave him weird looks.
~
She woke up in a foreign place. She distinctly remembers being at the track. Regardless, she couldn’t help but sink into the comfort.
Oscar her her shifting around. Gently seating himself next to her on the bed. “How are you feeling?”
“Fine.” She rasped. Her throat both sore and dry from her earlier wailing.
“Please don’t panic-“ he places a hand over hers. “- Lando told me what happened. We’ve both made statements about it and the PR team is doing the rest. Everyone agrees it isn’t right.”
A weight felt like it was being lifted of her chest. “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me. It’s my job to make sure things like this don’t happen. I love you so much and I hated seeing you like this. I don’t car in anyone else sees it. I see it and I see you. And you want to know what I see?”
She shoot him a quizzical look, curious as to where he’s going with this.
He smiles. The smiles that makes her feel warm. The smile that make heat rise to her face.
“The greatest thing I could have ever asked for.l

You guys are probably already fucked but no one wanted to see you fail this badly. We're not paying for another fucking streaming service. If it costs so damn much to produce then you guys either need to scale down production or hire new management that can run your company more profitably.

hey, have you heard that pillowfort has ✨ drafts ✨ now? (as in, the ability to save your posts as drafts.) they're still working on the queue feature (update: it's done!), but drafts are a big step forward!
in case you missed it so far, pillowfort is like a cross between tumblr and dreamwidth/livejournal, with a simplified dashboard reminiscent of old school tumblr and some classic livejournal features such as communities, threaded comments, and the ability to make individual posts followers-only or mutuals-only.
what are communities? basically, central hubs for posts about any subject you want that, unlike hashtags, can be moderated. they may have rules, such as "[subject matter] must be tagged" for example. you can post directly to a community or reblog existing posts to it!
since the site is currently experiencing some financial trouble, i thought i'd help out by spreading the word once again.
edit: the fundraiser was a success! crisis averted! i knew we could do it :D
why you should give pillowfort a chance:
no ads
no venture capitalist funding
no spying on the users
completely free to use except for optional premium features
nsfw is allowed except for sexual depictions of minors. if you're unsure what exactly that means, their tos may help
communities and the privacy controls mentioned above are excellent features
great community, low drama compared to other websites (so far)
the site's features themselves encourage genuine connection and good-faith conversation over endless "discourse"
every blog can automatically be filtered by original posts only or reblogs only
reasons not to join:
if you enjoy algorithmic social media. there is no algorithm at all
if you want to post or look at machine-generated art. they're still finalising the wording and personally i hope some exception will be made for models trained on ethically sourced images, but basically an anti-AI rule is in the works (update: finished!)
if you cannot live without reblog additions (reblogging with comment). all discussions on a pillowfort post take place in the comments section, and only your own followers see your tags. this has its pros and cons for sure! a similar feature to scratch that itch may be implemented in the future, but it will never be exactly like on tumblr.
if you need everything to be an app. the website works fine in a mobile browser and a progressive web app will hopefully be released soon (basically it's like an app in your browser and on mobile these can be added to the homescreen like real apps i think? they have push notifications!), but there's not going to be a native app available through official app stores due to the restrictions of those stores.
other factors to consider:
yes, the userbase is still small. depending on your interests, activity may be very slow. but we can change that! and on the plus side, reblogging your post to a community is a good way to easily get more eyes on it; way more effective than simply adding tags imo
the site culture is a bit different than on tumblr. many people read everything that's been posted since the last time they were online and don't follow more users/communities than they can keep up with. it's still somewhat lacking in shitposts and heavy on "essays" but don't be afraid to post whatever 😅
there are no blog themes like we have them on tumblr as yet, but you can customise your blog's colours and use html/insert links and images in your blog description
likes literally do nothing except to let OP know you enjoyed their post. you can't look at a list of all your likes. beware!
the staff is small and development is slow. some highly anticipated planned features other than the aforementioned queue include: - multi-account management - dashboard filters/reading lists - post bookmarking (since likes don't work that way) but we don't know how soon any of those will be implemented.
there is a user-developed browser extension (well, a userscript) called tassel available that adds additional features much like tumblr's beloved xkit :)
✨ okay, so how do i sign up? ✨
if you're interested but confused by the sign-up process or still under the impression that you need to pay to sign up (false), i'll put some clarifications and invite codes under the read more below. plus a note on donating, premium features, the paypal issue etc.
in a nutshell:
it's free
signing up without an invite code is possible, but you may have to wait a short while - supposedly less than an hour atm. just submit your email to the waitlist
if you don't feel like waiting, you can either use an invite code from an existing user or pay $5 to sign up instantly
every user gets plenty of invite codes and we're all willing to hand them out at the drop of a hat. they're really not hard to come by
some invites to get you started (just click the link):
invite 1 ▪ invite 2 ▪ invite 3 ▪ invite 4 ▪ invite 5
invite 6 ▪ invite 7 ▪ invite 8 ▪ invite 9 ▪ invite 10
invite 11 ▪ invite 12 ▪ invite 13 ▪ invite 14 ▪ invite 15
invite 16 ▪ invite 17 ▪ invite 18 ▪ invite 19 ▪ invite 20
i'll try to periodically check if any have been used and cross those out.
...paypal issue?
ok so paypal doesn't like working with sites that allow nsfw. as a result, you need a credit card in order to donate to pillowfort, buy one of those insta-registration keys, or subscribe to premium features*. i personally happen to have a credit card and would be willing to help out anyone who trusts me enough to send the money to me via paypal, but i realise chances are only my friends will do this.
some users are currently organising various activities for the purpose of letting people who only have paypal contribute to the site's survival. it's not super relevant for new users and won't get you access to premium features, but i thought i'd mention it anyway in case someone loves the concept of the site so much they want to support it immediately. a fundraising community has been created to collect posts of that nature!
*premium features are strictly limited to two categories of things:
fun little extras that no one truly needs
higher image upload limits, because obviously big images take up bandwidth and are therefore a reason for increased costs
you will never need to pay for vital accessibility features or anything of the sort. :)

A legit way to fight the climate crisis from where you're sitting right now
As promised, in honor of Earth Day, I've written some suggestions for how you can write a letter to the editor for your local paper, and reach some people who otherwise might get a more...shall we say restricted view of climate news. Letters to the Editor remain a surprisingly important political vehicle. People see letters to the editor and they feel like they're hearing from their neighbors- real people with authentic, down-to-earth agendas. They're the second most read part of the paper, after the front page. Take that stage!
Step 1- Pick an article in your local paper to respond to. Today is Earth day, and lots of papers will have at least something about climate crisis or environmental protection on it's pages. Local papers are better, because, as you can imagine, papers like The New Yorker get a lot more submissions to compete against, and anyways they don't have the same sense of local opinion.
Don't fret if your local paper leans conservative! That means it has readers we REALLY need to reach! And they may be more open to reading about these issues in a paper than online, which particularly a lot of older, don't feel like "the real world".
Step 2- Figure out what you're going to say! Maybe there's a glaring error in the article you want to address. BUT, if you're not sure, you can look up your local organization that's fighting for these goals. For example, I could look up and find MN350, because I'm in Minnesota. Going to their social media and their webpage/newsletter archive gives me an inside look at what people who are really immersed in these subjects have to say about what's going on.
So, for example, I see that my local group applauds Minneapolis's efforts at going to all clean energy, and has a timeline, but that people on the inside are saying that without a dedicated funding stream, people implementing these changes will have to either hope federal funding stays stable or fight for funding in the city council every year. Ok, now when there's an article about Minneapolis's plans, I have something to say.
Step 3- Draft it up.
The goal here is to be short and to the point.
Opening line: Identify which article you're responding to, and maybe your feeling about it.
First paragraph: What is the specific issue? What is a relevant fact and why does it  warrant public concern?
Second paragraph: What would you say that we do in response, or what would you ask your neighbors to do?  Why?
Third paragraph: What is currently being done to address the issue and how could people who have been persuaded act?
This should be no more than 150 to 250 words TOTAL.
While you're wording it, some things to keep in mind- stats and facts are good, but don't use a lot of acronyms or jargon. Expect your readers to be coming at this with about an 8th grade education.
If you have a sense of what the people you're talking to find persuasive, lean into that. For example, for my letter to the editor, I emphasized that chaotic funding leads to lack of ability to plan ahead or bulk-buy. I know the people I'm talking to like things to be common-sense and detest governmental waste, so that's an easy one.
If you want extra help, I have a list of best practices for communicating about the climate crisis right here.
Step 4- Proofread, then submit it via whatever process your local paper has. The goal, if you can manage is, is to submit something within 48 hours of the original article's publication. That's the sweet spot for most papers.
BONUS ROUND!
You did that, and still have a little energy for the environment left? There's one more thing you can do to super-charge your effort!
Guess what, you can stack the deck in favor of your specific letter being published.
But it will involve using a phone.
That's right, if you REALLY wanna turbo boost this thing, you're gonna call the paper (or have your non-phone-adverse-friend or family member pretend to be you and call the paper).
Call as soon as possible after the editor would have received the material.
Use pleasant persistence to speak with the right person. Don’t stop at a receptionist or secretary. Create enough POLITE urgency about your letter that you get through to the specific reporter or editor who will decide whether or not to print your piece.
Provide the editor with specific local info and urgency. Focus your conversation on why this issue is relevant to their readers.
Get specific feedback and/or a specific commitment from the reporter. If they don’t want to print the letter, find out why and what adjustments you can make to get it printed.
If they agree to print it, find out when you can expect to see it in the paper. The you can tell other people. Even if memaw isn't a big climate activist, she might show your letter to everybody she knows if she knows you wrote it.
And that's the process! I know that's a lot of information to throw at you, but ultimately, it can be pretty quick to crank these things out. And, again, these have been proven to be powerful persuaders. We need as many people as we can to be in this fight, so go and get them!
And always remember, you're not just combating ignorance, you're combating hopelessness, helplessness, and burnout! You can inspire people to think about what's possible.
PS if any of you actually do this, please let me know. It'd make me so happy.

This follows the events of that one infamous fight that ultimately ended Dalton's UFC career. Dalton had yet to decide whether this would put his career to rest for good or not. He still had fights in him, he knew it. He knew he could go for the belt again, but the world certainly did not want him to. His team was desperate to improve the public's opinion of Dalton, so people saw him as more than a murderer, so people stopped talking about how he killed Harris in the octagon that night. Many ideas were thrown around: visit an animal shelter and take photos with a funky looking dog, leak a bunch of nudes and make it seem accidental, say he's going to a rehab facility for God knows what. The rehab one hit a sensitive nerve. Maybe he did not need rehab, but Dalton started to understand he might need help. There was something in him, a fire, that terrified him. He killed his opponent on accident, how far could he go? His team was searching for some miracle. Anything, they considered anything. Brands had ended their contracts with him abruptly, trainers abandoned him, most friends (within and outside of the UFC) left him behind... No one wanted to be around him. No one except you.
Perhaps you were a long-time friend who knew him before he became a notorious fighter, perhaps you were someone who worked with him (assistant? social media manager? nutritionist? a massage therapist? skilled trainer who could kick him across the room? professional ice bath provider? you choose). You stayed by his side and watched everyone ditch him in the dirt. His manager (or whatever replacement they got to handle the crisis since his actual representative left as soon as shit hit the fan, typical) came up with this great idea. A new relationship. A new image. After Dalton the fearless fighter, Dalton the rage-filled killer, the world could discover Dalton the loving boyfriend. Dalton could not be more against it, he refuses to drag you into his mess. Your reputation has been affected already just by existing in his vicinity, he can't let things get worse. He does not want any of this fake-dating story either. But you... You know it would help him. You want to help him.
So Dalton gives in and you guys start to date. Photos are staged so you have content to post on your social media, pretending you had been going on several dates with the former fighter. All these dates happened within the same week and lasted barely long enough to capture a cute picture. Cute captions, cuter anniversary stories to celebrate months spent together and different milestones in the relationship. Appearances to random events, mostly parties or brand deals when they warm up to Dalton again as they see the traction he is receiving online. There are some paid and planned pap walks too, to catch Dalton as he walks in and out of the gym to give the impression he is getting back on track. He slipped, but it does not mean he fell. Everything happens in a hurry. You become his arm candy. You can't lie, you appreciate the luxurious treatment and you enjoy to share these memories with someone you appreciate. However, you hate that it makes Dalton so uncomfortable. You knew this fake and extremely public relationship would help him...
But did Dalton want to be helped at all? The two of you share a real, heartfelt conversation and you are hit with the realization. The relationship eventually ends with a photograph of the two of you looking your best. No harm. No bitterness. A mutual agreement your relationship has lived its time. Dalton and you share a moment together alone again, far away from cameras and people's nosiness. He tells you that he wants to disappear. No. That he needs to disappear. He has spent so many years of his life in the public eye, he craved anonymity. He wanted more than ever to be in control of his life. You understand he is chasing for something greater than you and let him choose his fate now that the world sees him as nothing but a furious animal. Despite all the efforts, despite the fake relationship.
You let him go. Dalton disappears out of your life and you don't hear from him for a long time. Dalton travels the country, taking bus ride after bus ride going nowhere. He gets lost in the different cities he visits, he gets lost in the thoughts that haunt him at night. Maybe, eventually, he realizes that letting go of his career was the right thing to do. Maybe, eventually, he realizes that he made a mistake when he let you go too.

January Monthly Roundup
BATFAMILY
Three’s a Crowd (But I’m Here if You Are) by JUBE514 (Bernard Dowd/Tim Drake/Conner Kent) 20k, Identity Reveal, Fluff      Bernard pops the top off his water bottle, a roll of his wrist at the perfect angle and it comes right off, and pops the faucet in Tim’s very nice kitchen to cold. Tim presses a kiss to the back of Bernard’s neck before Tim moves to the fridge to get his own water.      Bernard used to not drink as much water, but Tim drinks enough water for three people a day so Bernard naturally has followed- and now Bernard has no acne so he’s sort of mad about it actually. “The main character has two hands.” Bernard chimes easy and teasing. “Polygamy is the awnser here babe.”      Tim peaks over the door of the fridge. “Oh? Is this you telling me something?” —      Tim Drake, Bernard Dowd, and Kon-El have two hands each. They use them to hold onto each other.
My Evil Twin From Another Universe by FabulaRasa (Hal Jordan/Bruce Wayne) 22k An interdimensional anomaly strands another version of Hal in this universe, and two Hal Jordans in one universe is several Hal Jordans too many.
this week in heroblr by UnidentifiedFroggy (multi) 22k, WIP, Social Media, okay im sorry y'all did SUPERBOY just say he's a tumblrina??? #SUPERBOY AS IN KON EL AS IN SUPERMANS CLONE #DIED IN THE CRISIS SUPERBOY #holy shit #superblr #heroblr - a viewpoint into tumblr as it might exist within my own exceedingly self-indulgent form of the dc universe, told through epistolary fashion in batfamily social media fic tradition. features heroes getting cancelled, takes of middling veracity, plenty of queerness both on heroblr and in the hero community, my self-indulgent ships, and something vaguely resembling plot and lore told obliquely through tumblr drama and outsider pov interpretations of superheroes
The Big Boss by Crowlows19 (gen) 4k, POV Outsider The story of Bruce Wayne and his family as told by his insane Wayne Enterprises calendar and the poor assistant that had to manage it all.
Batman for Dummies by Havendance (gen) 38k, No Man’s Land, Helena Bertinelli-centric In the aftermath of the quake that shook Gotham, Helena Bertinelli takes on the mantle of the Bat. (It isn’t like Batman’s using it.) If she’d known the cowl came with a certain moralizing little bird following her around — well, she probably still would’ve done it, but it would’ve been nice to know in advance. (Or: Tim and Helena team up 2: electric boogaloo. Now with more bats!)
Older Sibling Duty by Icestorm238 (gen) 2k, Batfam Names are important. The Bats tend to bypass their real names, however, in favour of increasingly dumb nicknames. The older sibling trio of Dick, Jason, and Cass are the primary instigators of this. After all, it is their duty.
AITAH For Tricking My Brother Into Drugging My Other Brother? by TaxiCabToSlowtown (gen) 1k, Social Media, Am I the Asshole? Okay, look, I know how that sounds, but hear me out. My (M, 19, "Fred") little brother (17, I’ll call him “Percy”) has problems. These problems stem a lot from the fact that his parents abandoned him for long periods of time as a kid and he didn’t have a proper upbringing. I should mention that Percy’s parents then are not the same as our parent(s) now. We’re both adopted, and I’m messed up too, I’ll admit it. Our Father (45, I’ll call him “Arthur”) had sort of turned his house into a home for kids with really traumatic families.
Welcome to the Family by ViiA01 (Hal Jordan/Bruce Wayne) 67k, WIP, Batfam Bruce’s children want to meet the man that their father deemed worthy of a smile. So they do, in the only way they know how. By breaking into people's houses and lurking in dark places. Bruce just wants his children to stop stalking Earth’s Green Lantern, if only because they're ruining his plans. And Hal? Well, Hal is convinced that Bruce has concocted a plot to get around his ‘no killing’ rule, by having his children stalk him until his heart gives out from the stress.
A Series of Unfortunately Timed Coming Out's by Queerbutstillhere (multi), 7k, Coming Out The batfamily had this gift.  This wonderful skill. They are such talented, brilliant, capable individuals. But they are absolutely horrendous at wisely timing coming out to their family members. These are their stories . Aka: "I love you all but could we stop coming out to each other during the middle of battles?"
Call to a Lonely Earth by Drag0nst0rm (gen), 7k, Angst, AU-17776 Fusion There are no children left in Gotham. Not until the multiverse spits one out right in front of Batman, at least.
buy the ticket, take the ride by Anonymous (gen), 13k, Vegas Tim had always figured that if he ever woke up in Vegas sans-memory, it would be when he was older than fourteen. But there were some things he couldn’t control, and apparently whatever had happened last night that he didn’t remember was one of them.
CROSSOVER
Keystone by Kalinjdra (gen), 26k, WIP, HPxDC Harry Potter double-checked his lists before sending off the letter to an unknown cousin. He hoped for maybe some money at least, he didn't expect to get a scary bodyguard brother instead. Jason Todd has never stopped searching for his real parents so when Tim offers solid information in exchange of taking care of some kid, he really doesn't have anything else to do but take it. No one really could have foretold what followed.

A few days ago, you wrote about Harry's (Meghan's) red flags that would make them a security threat. Which got me thinking ... In the past 3 weeks the level of security risk for William and Catherine (and the children, by extension) must have gone up considerably.
When this forat started off as a joke, it was mostly about handling Catherine's privacy and her medical history. And someone somewhere must have realized that the London Clinic would be an easy source of security breach. I'm assuming that the hospital has top notch NDAs and everyone is expected to be absolutely discreet since many many high profile patients get admitted there. Maybe even some, whose medical diagnosis and history, if disclosed, would rightly tilt the world on it's axis.
So maybe that was this angle was not top priority, because the agencies assumed they would be discreet. Everyone also assumed that actual news agencies and media outlet wouldn't print any info obtained illegally from hospital sources, even if they had the capacity to pay the source for the info.
Nobody thought some two-bit Instagram influencers would gleefully pounce on the chance like vultures.
Another angle, and this is very very serious IMO, is that once the conspiracies started all blame was falling on William. He was the villian who had allegedly done dispicable things to C to put her in the hospital and was then hiding things. The number of threats he received from randoms of social media must have been mind boggling. He is the heir, he has to be physically protected and kept safe at all times. And doing that effectively, without addressing the rumours head on would have been very difficult. Especially if they still wanted to maintain Catherine's privacy and dignity while doing so.
(And I said dignity because how you handle your own medical diagnosis is absolutely a matter of your dignity and boundaries and space)
Not to mention, nosy people would have started stalking the kids at the schools and playtimes. If at all that happened it would never be disclosed.
I think the utmost priority for people someone like William and Catherine their safety, merely based on their constitutional significance. And handling a looming PR crisis was not at the top of the palace list. Blaming the "palace" for not handling the PR crisis better is just wrong IMO.
The palace is not some big bad shadowey shady entity. The palace is essentially the principals, their immediate staff who work for the pricipals, and that includes different agencies that work towards ensuring their safety and security at all times.
If the palace was keeping their cards close to the chest, then that means it was Catherine and William who were keeping their cards close to the chest. Mainly because as normal humans their priority was to understand and absorb what was happening, what could happen and how to plan their lives in the immediate aftermath of this devastating news.
Their priority couldn't and wouldn't be to make sure they look nice and are seen doing nice, cute things together just so some lame Karen sitting in a dark, damp, mouldy room likes them. Karens will Karen on. So catering to Karen's sensibilities will never ever be part of the palace PR and crisis management strategy.
What I don't get is why were the British press baying for William and Catherine blood. From what's come out in the last 2 days, it seems that at least some journalists had an idea that this was a very serious matter. That it was absolutely not about W being an violent abuser or a cheater or Catherine wanting to look pretty, nor was it about KP staff giving up on W+C because they are secretive exasperating, inept bosses.
It was simply about a family trying to come to terms with a devastating news that was drastically going to affect the lives of all 5 of them for a long long time. It's something that you never plan for, no matter who you are.
Knowing that, why were they so cruel, so callus. Where was their sense of nationality or even simple human decency?
They stood by Catherine when she was wrong called a racist. So why did they not stand by her when she is going through the worst time of her life emotionally and physically?
They made a mountain out of a molehill, to the point that from a security POV the powers that be concluded that the best way to mitigate the security risk would be breach her emotional safety, to ensure her and his, physical safety. I truly think this was the #1 reason on the list of reasons why they disclosed it the way they did.
Old ask from March 24th.
Simple. It all boils down to whom the press declared their enemy.
When they were defending Kate over the racism claims, they were defending her from Meghan, UK's Public Enemy #1.
When the Waleses were dealing with Kate's health crisis, the press didn't do anything, and even joined in on the attacks, because Kensington Palace was the enemy since KP refused to give updates on or access to Kate, which the press didn't like. So they stood by and piled on.

https://torontosun.com/news/local-news/warmington-female-rugby-players-complain-trans-opponent-hits-too-hard
Female rugby players are not used to feeling like they have been hit by a bus on the field. Or a truck.
A veteran female rugby player, who plays for the Stoney Creek Camels senior women’s team, said she was hit so hard in a recent game, it felt like a man delivering the tackle.
Tumblr media
This transgender player, known as Ash — said to have registered as a non-binary person who identifies as female — stands about 5-foot-10 and weighs up to 220 pounds.
“We are women,” said a female player on the receiving end of a tackle. “It’s a whole other thing playing rugby against men.”
Or one who used to be — especially one of that size, who is also said to have been an MVP at the men’s level just last season.
“I had never been hit like that before, even at the competitive women’s level,” said the player. “There was so much more brute force. There are women who are bigger than him, but no girl hits like that. This is a strong human.”
“The player is a nice person, but that is not the point,” said the female player. “We are now at a disadvantage.”
This story has sparked a lot of discussion within the rugby community – many comparing it to the Leah Thomas swimming issue in the United States. But as one female player pointed out, competitive swimmers have their own lane and there are no collisions. In rugby, it’s all collisions, all the time. She said Ash’s legs are massive and strong, and “you feel the hits from (them) the next day.”
Diana Murphy a friend of some of the players, tweeted: “Three women’s rugby players had to be removed from a game and treated for injuries from hits sustained by a transwoman” and that she feels “Trans have no place in women’s sports.” Rugby Canada said there were no illlegal hits, but sources in the game said Ash received a yellow card from the referee for a hit to the head of one female player. Ash was pulled from the game. Players said they are not clear whether it was at the insistence of the referee or the Fergus coach. Either way, Rugby Canada said this is a federal inclusion issue and not only is this transgender player welcomed in the league, but the law protects that person from discrimination.
Tumblr media
“We are aware of the matter in question but would advise that Rugby Canada has received no formal complaints,” said Managing Director Tania Richards. “All rugby played in Canada abides by federal government laws which regulates inclusion in sports."
She said there were no players hurt and there were no illegal hits as has been suggested on social media. What there has been, said Richards, is online harassment of the transgender player. The Fergus club has not yet responded, but has forwarded our request to speak with Ash. Meanwhile, there are some players who feel they should not have to play against someone who was recently considered male, but are afraid to reveal their identities for fear of being targeted or cancelled themselves.
All sides use the word “complicated” when talking about this matter. Rugby Ontario sent a communique to members, saying “for those who attended Sunday’s board meeting, you are aware of some concerns that have arisen about player safety in the context of a transplayer playing in club games” and “we are working closely with Rugby Canada senior staff on the matter and are together developing action and communication plans, informed by the counsel of their third-party crisis management PR agency.” They also asked, “if you are contacted by anyone in the community or the media, please do not engage by offering any opinion or comment on the situation.” What they don’t seem to be doing is fully accepting there are some female players who don’t feel comfortable going up against a transitioning opponent in a physical sport where size and strength play a role. One player said the collision she had with trans player Ash was unlike any other impact she has felt in all her years playing rugby.

World Water Day
World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater. It celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. The theme of World Water Day 2024 is ‘Water for Peace’. Read more about related issues and possible solutions on UN's website.
The more people talk about these global issues, the more action will be taken - on personal and on governmental level as well. Just like last year, we decided to contribute to the campaign with posters you are free (and encouraged!) to share on social media. Give people the chance to talk about the importance of freshwater.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find all posters here (MEGA folder) or on our website.
Key messages for World Water Day 2024 (from worldwaterday.org)
Water can create peace or spark conflict. When water is scarce or polluted, or when people struggle for access, tensions can rise. By cooperating on water, we can balance everyone’s water needs and help stabilize the world.
Prosperity and peace rely on water. As nations manage climate change, mass migration and political unrest, they must put water cooperation at the heart of their plans.
Water can lead us out of crisis. We can foster harmony between communities and countries by uniting around the fair and sustainable use of water – from United Nations conventions at the international level, to actions at the local level.

If he had followed his motto that "Dignity always comes before fame" and hadn't decided to be a Hollywood escort, exposing himself as a pr******te, that would have never happened. But, after the mess was done, he didn't step back, despite precedents in which other PR stunts ended right after starting. So, why did he continue with the circus?
If the PR was his real girlfriend her profiles would be clean and neat before they announced the first pap walk. And, if she loved him, she would be the first to end this shenanigan and go on his defense. But, the promiscuous never said a word and took advantage of this situation. It seems that whoever is behind this, wants to repeat the TV show plot.
The internet is like her birthday party, where she had fun bullying people; his fans are in the place of the school colleagues she tried to humiliate back then, and he is the hot guy she wanted to grab and kiss at the party.
What do we know about the PR circus?
1) It is against who he always seemed to be.
2) It was obviously intentional, planned to destroy his integrity and expose him as a Hollywood escort and a hypocrite.
3) It is, obviously, a badly managed PR, executed by amateurs or immoral people.
4) It brings to the spotlight, as his lover, a redneck promiscuous, apparently jobless, cheap escort with no class, no style, no good manners, who is, apparently, from an adult escorting website.
5) It uses a lot of fake, immoral strategies and Photoshop.
6) It made him age ten years in months snd go through uncomfortable situations and humiliating moments (including professional obligations related to productions - Argylle?).
7) It evidently made him go through an emotional and psychological crisis, up to the point he seemed medicated in interviews.
8) Since the negative publicity surrounding the PR's name exploded, the impression is he's fighting against an opposite force. Or maybe it is just them wanting us to believe so.
9) It seems this PR deal is connected and bound to a more comprehensive (wider) contract that links it to movie productions and the use of his image rights (name, his social media control etc) in one only term.
Meaning, if the PR item set in contract is reversed or off, during the period of the contract implementation, the rest of the terms are, as well, annulled and the contract is cancelled, what would jeopardize a professional important deal related to a second item of this contract, which they don't wanna cancel.
That theory could partially explain this shenanigan, which seemed to have a longing term, for he felt the moral obligation to protect and support the promiscuous against the negative publicity, ignoring the moral obligation with fans.
But, it doesn't exactly explain the following excessive attitudes addressed to fans (the mockery, the gaslighting, the lack of respect). Unless, she was defending herself against old colleagues, who might have decided for a vendetta against her for the bullying and humiliation she practiced towards them on National TV.
Because, the strategies used, show her as a pitiful redneck, an immature promiscuous and a resentful scumbag. She may try to leave her promiscuous life behind. But, promiscuity will never leave her.

🇵🇸 🚨
HEAD OF UNRWA, PHILIPPE LAZZARINI, ISSUES STATEMENT ON CALLS TO DISMANTLE UNRWA
In statement to the international media, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, called statements from Israel calling for the dismantling of UNRWA "short-sighted" and "deeply concerning".
During a two hour-long briefing with relevant United Nations member-states, Lazzarini discussed the situation in the city of Rafah where Israeli occupation forces plan an immenent invasion of the southern Gaza city.
"Basically, we were talking about the situation in Rafah, which is deeply, deeply concerning and, as you know, people are anxious and in fear of a possible large-scale military operation," Lazzarini said in his statement.
"If this military operation takes place, the question is, 'where will the civilians go?'" Lazzarini asked, adding that there is "no safe place in Rafah anymore."
The largest concern, according to Lazzarini, is that the number of civilians killed and wounded as a result of an Israeli invasion of Rafah could increase significantly, once again, in a conflict where more than 100'000 casualties have been reported and thousands more civilians remain trapped under the rubble of their homes.
Lazzarini pointed to the massive civilian population that's been packed into Rafah city, where a sea of hundreds of thousands of tents have been set up to house nearly 1.3 million displaced Palestinians.
Turning to Israeli and Western countries' demands to dismantle and defund UNRWA, Lazzarini said he discussed the allegations that 12 members of UNRWA staff directly or indirectly participated in the events of October 7th, 2023, when the Palestinian resistance broke free from the outdoor prison that is Gaza to assault Israeli military outposts and illegal settlements.
Lazzarini said he reminded member-states of the actions UNRWA has taken since the accusations surfaced, including the termination of the accused contractors and the initiating of an investigation.
Lazzarini said he called for cooperation in the investigation and reminded members of the utmost importance that the Israeli entity also cooperates "so that we do have more than the allegations which have been shared with me."
Additionally, the UNRWA chief commissioned a review of risk management systems, in particular when dealing with "neutrality issues".
"All these allegations about use of social media, about the tunnel, about weapons, about political affiliation - all this needs to be reviewed to see how proactive the agency is in preventing, first, but [also] once an allegation happens, how do we respond to this?"
The UNRWA Secretary-general said he expects the investigation and review to take place over the next couple of months, adding that it will begin "tomorrow and as an agency, we remain committed to implement[ing] its recommendations."
Lazzarini also brought up Israel's recent allegations that Hamas tunnels were found 20-meters under UNRWA headquarters, pointing to his conversations with member-states in which he called for a board of inquiry.
"We need to look at all the situations where UN premises have been blatantly disrespected," Lazzarini said, adding that "since the beginning of the war, more than 150 of our installations have been hit."
"We know that some installations have been completely destroyed. Hundreds of people have been killed, thousands have been injured, and all this needs to be investigated independently, together with the allegation of a tunnel."
Lazzarini went on to warn about the severe impact of defunding and dismantling the UNRWA, calling the idea "short-sighted" and said the impact would not be only in the short-term.
It's not just weakening our collective ability to respond to the humanitarian crisis at a time, I want to remind, when the ICJ has asked [for] this response to be scaled up. At the same time, calls are here to weaken it," Lazzarini cautioned.
The UNRWA chief warned that the real impact is not only in the now, but is also during what he described as the “transition phase” – the "long in-between days before the end of active military hostilities and the day after, when there is, on the table, a solid political package."
"And we all know that this period can be extremely painful; can be a period of misery. It's a period during which no one really invests in the Gaza Strip," the UNRWA Secretary-general added.
At the same time, Lazzarini warns, nearly half a million girls and boys remain "deeply traumatized" and urgently need to be brought back into the education system.
Lazzarini emphasized UNRWA's role in the Palestinian education system in the Gaza Strip, pointing out that no other administration, NGO's or other UN agency is capable of providing the necessary services like education to hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza.
The UNRWA chief added that if member-states want to give a chance for any future transition to succeed, then it needs to be ensured that the International community has the tools it needs to succeed, and one of the most important tools in existence at this time is UNRWA.
"We [are] a temporary agency which unfortunately has lasted for 75 years because there hasn't been any political solution," Lazzarini told reporters.
"Maybe after this cataclysm which has hit the region in Gaza, it might be time now to generally find a political solution, and it would be a disaster if just before it, we get rid of the mandate and an agency like UNRWA."

Unlocking Marketing Success: The Importance of Online Reputation Management
Tumblr media
In today's digital era, where consumers have instant access to information and can voice their opinions widely, online reputation management (ORM) has become a critical aspect of any marketing strategy. ORM involves monitoring, influencing, and controlling your business's reputation on the internet. It’s about making sure that people see your brand in the best possible light, which can directly impact your marketing success. Here’s why ORM is essential and how it can unlock marketing success for your business.
The Digital Landscape and Consumer Behavior
With the advent of the internet, the power dynamics between businesses and consumers have shifted. Consumers now have the ability to research products, compare services, and read reviews before making purchasing decisions. According to a study by BrightLocal, 87% of consumers read online reviews for local businesses, with 72% saying that positive reviews make them trust a business more. This shift in consumer behavior underscores the importance of managing your online reputation.
Building Trust and Credibility
Trust is the cornerstone of any successful business relationship. A positive online reputation helps build this trust. When potential customers see positive reviews, testimonials, and high ratings, they are more likely to trust your brand. On the other hand, negative reviews and unresolved complaints can erode trust and drive potential customers away.
By actively managing your online reputation, you can ensure that positive feedback is highlighted and negative feedback is addressed promptly and professionally. This not only builds credibility but also shows that you care about your customers' experiences and are committed to continuous improvement.
Enhancing Brand Image
Your brand image is how your business is perceived by the public. A strong, positive brand image can set you apart from competitors and attract more customers. ORM plays a vital role in shaping and maintaining this image. By consistently promoting positive content about your business and engaging with your audience, you can create a favorable perception that aligns with your brand values and mission.
Effective ORM involves monitoring what is being said about your brand online and responding appropriately. This includes managing social media profiles, engaging with customer reviews, and publishing high-quality content that reflects your brand's strengths and values.
Crisis Management
No business is immune to crises, whether it's a product recall, negative press, or a social media mishap. How you handle these crises can significantly impact your reputation. Effective ORM prepares you to respond quickly and effectively to any negative situation, minimizing potential damage to your brand.
Having a crisis management plan in place as part of your ORM strategy can help you navigate through challenging times. This plan should include clear protocols for addressing negative feedback, communicating with stakeholders, and rectifying the situation. Transparency and swift action are key to maintaining trust during a crisis.
Increasing Customer Engagement
Engaging with your customers online is crucial for building strong relationships and fostering loyalty. ORM encourages proactive engagement, where you actively participate in conversations about your brand, respond to reviews, and address customer concerns. This engagement not only improves customer satisfaction but also provides valuable insights into your customers' needs and preferences.
By showing that you listen and respond to your customers, you can build a community of loyal supporters who are more likely to advocate for your brand. Positive interactions can lead to word-of-mouth marketing, which is one of the most effective forms of promotion.
Improving SEO and Visibility
A positive online reputation can also boost your search engine optimization (SEO) efforts. Search engines like Google take into account the quality and quantity of online reviews, ratings, and other user-generated content when ranking websites. By maintaining a positive online reputation, you can improve your search engine rankings, making it easier for potential customers to find you.
Moreover, positive reviews and high ratings can increase your visibility on review platforms and social media, driving more traffic to your website. This increased visibility can translate into higher conversion rates and, ultimately, greater revenue.
In conclusion, online reputation management is not just an optional component of your marketing strategy—it is essential. By actively managing your online reputation, you can build trust and credibility, enhance your brand image, effectively handle crises, increase customer engagement, and improve your SEO and visibility. All these factors contribute to unlocking marketing success and ensuring long-term growth for your business.
Investing time and resources into ORM can yield significant returns, helping you attract and retain customers, build a strong brand, and stay ahead of the competition. In the digital age, where your reputation can make or break your business, effective ORM is the key to unlocking marketing success.

I’ve been fuming since I saw the photo above yesterday. Fuming about the stupidity of youthful idealism, and then thinking about how I voted for Richard Nixon and the Second American War in Vietnam and everything else that happened afterwards to today, back in 1968, out of the stupidity of youthful idealism.
No, I didn’t walk into a voting place and step into a booth and mark a ballot for Nixon. I voted for him in 1968 when I didn’t vote that year, so I could show Hubert Humphrey and the Democrats how unworthy they were of my vote and support.
And by not voting for Humphrey, who only lost the popular vote by around 50,000+ votes, I voted for Nixon and his “secret plan” to end the war. I voted for more division at home that ultimately led to the resurgence of the Right with all that meant over the next 50 years, for 59,000 more American deaths in the next four years, for the disruption and dislocation of all of Southeast Asia and the deaths of millions while Nixon and Kissinger did everything they could to not have to accept the same damn deal that LBJ’s negotiators had finally said yes to in the fall of 1968, just before the election, the deal that was sabotaged by Nixon to insure his election as president. I voted for all of that in an act of political pique. And by so doing, I got exactly what I didn’t want when I look at the way things are today.
My point in raising this memory is to make the point that the antiwar movement back then and the campus protests against the Gaza War now are very hot-house environments, environments where people can come up with surprisingly bad ideas that somehow make sense to them in the moment.
Act in haste; repent at leisure.
1968 was an inflection point in American history. Two very different futures were offered: one in which the government would be controlled by a political party that was far from perfect, but was committed to keeping the social contract that had been made in 1932, the social contract that had made the country the most successful, middle class country in history. The other future would be dominated by people dedicated to destroying everything that had been achieved since 1932.
And we in the movement dedicated to making America live up to its founding ideals made the wrong choice. We got exactly what we didn’t want.
As was certainly the case in the 1960s, meritorious protest actions on college campuses often mutate into romanticizing “revolutionary action” and the drama of occupations.
One thing they never do is actually solve the problem the student revolutionaries are protesting.
The Columbia protesters made a major strategic mistake when they occupied Hamilton Hall. Up to that point, the protesters were winning in the forum of public opinion by posing questions: Why are you claiming this protest is a big crisis? We’re just here in our tents on a campus green. We’re not being violent and we’re taking steps to police our group’s activities.
They were winning that argument, in the court of public opinion and on other college campuses, as shown by the spread of protests and encampments. Occupying the building, including the property destruction and violence that always accompanies such action, lost the argument. In the forum of public opinion, employing force to end that occupation - and the others across the country - received approval, and the protesters became caricatures in Right Wing media - the new “antifa” and “BLM.” Maybe visuals of the NYPD coming in to clear the building were what the the extremists among the protesters wanted. But it gave force to the argument that the university had a legitimate public safety issue to contend with.
People get wound up into fantasies that they’re part of some kind of revolutionary action or moment. And in so doing, they always manage to defeat themselves in accomplishing the goal they say they want.
Now, The College Democrats of America, that claims to represent over 100,000 students across the country, calling itself “the official collegiate arm of the Democratic National Committee” has issued an ominous warning to President Joe Biden. Tuesday, the group released a statement expressing support for students protesting the war in Gaza and criticizing the administration over how it is managing the conflict.
The statement read, “Since the beginning of this conflict, College Democrats and students from every walk of life have had the moral clarity to see this war for what it is: destructive, genocidal, and unjust. As College Democrats we are committed to the reelection of President Biden. The White House has taken the mistaken route of a bear hug strategy for Netanyahu and a cold should strategy for its own base and all Americans who want to see an end to this war. Each day that Democrats fail to stand united for a permanent ceasefire, two-state solution, and recognition of a Palestinian state, more and more youth find themselves disillusioned with the party.”
On Wednesday, they upped the ante, declaring on Xitter: “College Democrats’ votes are not to be taken for granted by the Democratic Party. We reserve the right to criticize our party when it fails to listen to us. If you keep ignoring us, keep giving us the cold shoulder, you risk losing your own base, and then in turn, the election.”
Criticisms of President Biden’s position in support of or opposition to almost every issue relating to the Middle East has quickly transformed into an oblique threat: “If Biden doesn’t do or say XYZ, he will lose the support of - fill in the blank - Young voters, college students, Muslims, Jews, centrists, independents, law and order voters, persuadable Republicans, and anti-war protesters from the 1960s (at least those among the latter who learned nothing from their experience).
Threatening to abandon Biden over his Middle East policies implies a willingness to abandon support for: women’s reproductive liberty and equality; the right of Black voters to equal access to the ballot box; protection of the environment; protection of healthcare and retirement for Americans on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid; continuation of affordable healthcare for all Americans; due process for 10 million immigrants who will be “rounded up” and placed in camps before summary deportation; Muslims who will be denied free transit to and from countries where family and friends reside; LGBTQ people whose right to marriage and civil rights equality is under attack; scientists and teachers who want to pursue knowledge and educate others free from political retribution.
That these political 6-year olds threaten to turn their backs on fellow citizens and these urgent issues is - in the words of my friend Josh Marshall at TPM - a “burn it all down” strategy that will injure hundreds of millions of Americans.
The threat by these over-privileged pre-schoolers is an implicit promise to support Trump. Just like my “vote” in 1968 was a vote for Nixon and every evil thing that Fount of Evil tried to do in the next four years, as well as a vote for every evil thing that Republicans have done since with the power they gained in the 1970s by opposing everything we said we were in favor of.
2024 is an inflection point in American history as surely as 1968 was, only this time the choice is even more meaningful, more important than it was 56 years ago. Like it or not, in 2024 we face a binary choice: democracy or tyranny, liberty or subjugation, dignity or degradation, equality or injustice, order or chaos.
Threatening to support depravity as a pressure tactic is political idiocy on the part of anyone who says they are committed to the ideals the protesters claim they are.
This time the choices include one that leads to the obliteration of the democratic constitutional republic we have lived in all our lives and its replacement with a theocratic fascist dictatorship that guarantees the people of the planet Earth will not be able to successfully confront and deal with an existential crisis that doesn’t listen to arguments or philosophies of government, religion or society. That existential crisis is climate change, which just might lead to the extinction of life on Earth as we have known it, certainly of our species.
The truth is that these protests have become an in-kind contribution to Trump’s campaign. They will not save one single life in Gaza.
They will insure that you get exactly what you say you do not want.
Yesterday, Representative Virginia Foxx - a real “piece of work” far right Republican fron North Carolina - announced that the Congressional antisemitism investigation will expand into a Congress-wide crackdown on colleges. Speaking at a press conference, she had a clear message for “mealy-mouthed, spineless college leaders. Congress will not tolerate your dereliction of duty to your Jewish students. American universities are officially put on notice that we have come to take our universities back.”
I’ve seen this happen before. Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Inquirer noted that right-wing politicians jumped on the Kent State shootings of May 1970 to defund colleges and universities, while a “law and order” backlash helped give Republican president Richard M. Nixon a landslide reelection in 1972. Basically, I was stupid enough to vote for the bastard twice, even though in 1972 I did go to the polling place and cast a ballot for McGovern.
Right now, the GOP and certain conservative Democrats (find them under “the usual suspects”) have gotten a vote in the House on a bill to define anti-Semitism so that government agencies can apply that definition to political activities by American citizens exercising their First Amendment rights, which will allow punitive measures to be taken against those who are found to have engaged in “anti-Semitism” as defined in the bill.
The definition of anti-Semitism they intend to use includes political criticism of the government of Israel.
In other words, every post I have made here since October 7 on the Gaza crisis, and nearly every comment made by you, the subscribers to That’s Another Fine Mess, in which the Netaqnyahu government was criticized, could be considered “anti-Semitism” under this law (if it is passed as is in the Senate, which is likely). I am sure that Substack would enforce such judgement if a complaint was made about any posts or comments here or on any other page, which would mean the end of That’s Another Fine Mess or any other blog reported for similar posts.
This is merely the most certain of the negative events that are likely to happen as the result of actions taken by a bunch of over-educated, under-intelligent student “revolutionaries,” who congratulate themselves on their high political awareness and committment to “justice” for the oppressed.
The stakes this time are far higher than they were when we “political purists” fucked up in 1968.

“Only by not having children can I live the way I do now,” said Zheng, who has visited more than 50 countries. “I only have to think about myself, which is the part I enjoy most.”
“Considering global political and economic trends, if you don’t have a strong maternal instinct, you shouldn’t have a child just for the sake of it,” she said.

TAIPEI, Taiwan —
Shorthand for gainfully employed U.S. couples whose only responsibilities were to themselves, the acronym DINK — dual income, no kids — was coined to capture the unabashed materialism of the 1980s.
Four decades later, the term has made a comeback, with millennials embracing it on social media to flaunt their free time, lavish spending habits and the other perks of choosing to be child-free.
It has taken off far beyond United States, including in one country where it would have been hard to imagine just a decade ago: China.
China’s population declined for the second year in a row last year; India overtook it as the world’s most populous nation.
Amid deep economic uncertainty, a growing number of Chinese are opting for another number: zero.
Many proudly refer to themselves as DINKs — using the acronym in English — or dingke, the phonetic translation in Mandarin.
Xu Kaikai, 29, said being DINKs gives her and her 36-year-old boyfriend a greater sense of control over their lives.
“It reduces some of the anxieties about age,” she said.
She works in advertising in Shanghai, where her boyfriend is a project manager for a construction company. “I used to talk about having a beautiful baby,” Xu said.
Now she calls herself a “drifting leaf” and gets so bored with people talking about children on social media that she follows only people without them.
A recent study from the Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology estimated that DINKs accounted for about 38% of Chinese households in 2020 — up from 28% a decade earlier — but those figures included large numbers of people living alone and the research did not look at whether couples were in fact dual-income.
Not that all Chinese adhere to a strict definition of the acronym. Some include anybody without children, while others don’t count people who still have a chance to change their minds — women of child-bearing age or men without vasectomies.
It’s also unclear how many DINKs there are in the United States. Some 44% of couples ages 18 to 49 surveyed by Pew Research in 2021 said it was unlikely they would have children — up from 37% in 2018.
After decades of enforcing a one-child policy to keep population growth in check, China’s government is now offering subsidies and financial support to encourage families to have more kids.
“It was just a high-class phenomenon,” said Yuying Tong, a professor of sociology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong who studies family life.
She said the number of DINKs is going up in large part because more people are delaying marriage.
The rejection of societal norms comes at an inopportune time for the Communist Party, which is struggling to stave off a demographic crisis in which there aren’t enough young people to support the elderly.
The country’s population declined for the second year in a row in 2023 — India surpassed it as the world’s most populous nation — and the birthrate fell 5.6% to a record low of 6.39 births per 1,000 people — a little more than half the U.S. rate, which has also declined in recent years.
Now the Chinese government is trying to motivate people to have kids, resorting to subsidies and even matchmaking services.
In March, Chinese officials announced plans to provide more support for child rearing and “work toward a birth-friendly society,” including improving parental leave policies and child-care options.
The government also appears to be trying to scare DINKs into changing their mindset.
Last month, China’s Twitter-like platform Weibo promoted an article about DINK couples in China who regretted not having kids because it had led to loneliness, marital strife or inheritance issues.
As economic growth has stalled, more Chinese couples are giving up on the idea of having kids. According to the Beijing-based Yuwa Population Research Institute, the average cost of raising a child in China was one of the highest in the world.
DINKs took issue with the characterization.
“Are all these examples being brought up to encourage people to have kids?” a popular entertainment blogger who goes by the moniker Jing Zhao Cha Mi responded on social media. “There are probably more people who regret their lifestyle with children.”
Hu Huiwen, a 38-year-old financial consultant who lives in the eastern city of Hangzhou, has heard all the warnings: Her husband will leave her. She will want children later and be too old to have them. Nobody will care for her in her old age.
But in the five years since she swore off having children, none of that has come to pass.
“It might become a minor sorrow, but not to the point of regret,” Hu said. “Even if I do regret it, then I can only bear it myself. What else can you do?”
She belongs to three different group chats for DINKs, where participants advise one another how to spend their leisure time. In video diaries, she shows herself reading or wandering through parks admiring the foliage.
In March, the Chinese government emphasized the need to support child rearing and “work toward a birth-friendly society.”
A recent study by the Beijing-based Yuwa Population Research Institute found that the average cost of raising a child in China was $74,600 — or 6.3 times the per capita GDP.
Of the 14 countries included in the study, the only place where it cost more relative to income was South Korea, which has the lowest birthrate in the world.
“At the end of the day, it’s still about the pressures and this very competitive environment that makes both marriage and childbearing untenable,” said Mu Zheng, an assistant professor of sociology at the National University of Singapore.
When Zheng Yu, a 47-year-old fashion consultant living in Shanghai, was in her 20s, her friends and family viewed her decision to not have children as a symptom of her rebellious nature.
Now with income inequality rising and seeing the pressure her niece is under to excel, she said she and her husband would make the same decision all over again.
Vable Liu, a 29-year-old English teacher in Jinan, the capital of China’s Shandong province, said about a third of her friends are dinks.
Liu and her husband recently posted a short video defending their choice.
“Will DINKs miss out on the joy of children?” she asks him in the clip.
DINK couples account for about 38% of households in China as of 2020, according to one study, up from 28% in 2010.
They continued with their mock interview.
“What if your family pressures you?” “Stay away from them.”
“Who do you pass your wealth on to when you die?” “Squander it all before then.”
Special correspondent Xin-yun Wu in Taipei contributed to this report.
