i like avoiding listening to things because im scared of how strong an association ive formed between that thing and periods of my life i dont like but then coming back to them months later and not experiencing any strong emotions like fuck yeah! it got reset!

Overall I really liked the episode!! looking forward to it on rewatch because I was very high strung going into this one for whatever reason and I think I'll absorb a lot more of it on the second go. But anyway yeah Isaac & Colin & Roy really carried it for me all their scenes were such excellence.

Not surprised but still disappointed that my university seems to have 0 funding for students attending conferences (and possibly presenting their own results)

#jojo rambles #uni life #we used to have it but covid has cost the state a lot of money which they partly took from university fundings #and I get that it got cut but damn it so stupid #and fuck I am working and could cover the costs on my own but what about students who actually can't afford it?#do you want young researchers?#diverse young researchers?#still gonna write the funding office but I don't expect them to know somethingq #which could also be a problem #cuz why should professors or the head of the faculity finances know about fundings?#which is also a problem #at least the conference organizers have been supportive #but they adviced me to look for other funding as it is better for your CV #its insane how unattractive academics in Germany is and how they still managed to make it even shittier

been trying to find tools/advice/quick cheat methods on how to work out, from the point of visualising or conceptualising a scene or story I want to write, what its approximate word count needs to be.

and then the correlary; how to split those ideas backwards to segment scenes into ~2500 word portions.

#obviously full writerly conferences teaching plot and structure and outlining are out; but was hoping something existed #writing #on writing #advice seeking #i'm in a flashfiction to short story workcount range but need to work out how to restrain myself to appropriate idea-to-wordcount ratios #everything i've seen around has overly complicated methodologies #really the driver is i want to be capable of producing and 'anchoring' 2500 words within a time constraint without accidentally--#--writing myself into a corner or trying to cram in too many concepts and ideas

I'm going to eternally hate myself for the way I met Billie Piper but I do miss Rose Tyler on my screen and the newest Doctor Who clip indicates that Donna Noble had a daughter and named her Rose. I'm gonna scream.

#Doctor Who #It was the last showing of Yerma in New York City #and I was 2 weeks out of surgery for endo #Yerma is about a woman who goes crazy after infertility #it was really gripping and emotionally shattering and Billie gave a phenomenal performance #and I idolized her #I was leaving the bar at the theater and the whole cast was there #I could have just meekly asked for an autograph and slid out #but no my dumbass had met these young girls in the bar who were fangirling over Billie #they'd flown from some midwest state #and I went to tell THEM to get autographs #they got autographs I got nothing #to the girls I helped: I fucking hate you. I just do. I hate you both.#And to Billie I'm so sorry because that was so rude and wrong of me in the first place #I have never felt so embarrassed and upset for my actions #it even tops when my mom embarrassed me in front of an entire conference room at a con in front of Vic Mignogna #I learned David Tennant's advice of never meet your heroes #Tops even my cringe photoshoot with Misha Collins even #I'll never fangirl over an actor or such or dream of meeting one again I'm so sorry #I hate myself #anyway I wish Rose would come back just once as herself and not the moment but I guess we're lucky to have Billie in audio dramas for Who #sigh

spent like four days agonizing over being so completely Burnt to Shit that words are just not happening, wondering what is wrong only to crash double hard upon going back to work today, where i am currently outlining [checks notes] four major papers and a comprehensive technical policy having taken no personal leave over the past four months beyond what was critically necessary because of how fucked the move got. so that's where all my writing brain went.

"maybe i will take a couple days off bracketing next weekend" next weekend is family reunion: infant memorial edition. somehow i suspect my therapist isn't going to count that
