when giving gifts, Edwin says “I know it’s not much..” and it’s literally the most sought after magical trinket. He also feels very chuffed when the response to a gift is “This is exactly what I wanted!!” (Nobody knows how he does it) (how does he do it??) Despite the trauma, he does quite enjoy a traditional Christmas and insists on a nativity scene in the corner of the office.

Niko takes gift giving very seriously. She starts her Christmas shopping in July, and loses track of how much she’s buying, because if she sees something someone would love, it’s coming with her. Her favourite part, however, is decorating. Leave her alone with an empty space and some decorations and you will return to something magnificent.

Charles does like Christmas, but it makes him quite anxious, considering his childhood. He does his best at gift giving, and you’ll likely end up with a little thing that means a lot. He leaves Niko to the decorating, but you’ll see a family heirloom here and there. Although his strong point is definitely the food. It may not be authentic, but he can whip up some delicious desi dishes as a Christmas dinner replacement. Yorkies? No. Paratha? Yes.

Crystal has always had a very material based Christmas. And this has stuck with her. In her head, if she doesn’t spend lots of money on people she hardly knows, it wouldn’t be Christmas at all. The Christmas lights give her a migraine, but she does secretly think the decor is super cute. She knows her cooking basics, and does help Charles out, but gets flustered when something isn’t done her way.

"Cheesy Herb Focaccia Pull-Apart Rolls 🍞🧀🍁 This is day four of everything but the turkey, and these elevated dinner tolls are the perfect thanksgiving side!

What you'll need -

1 1/2 cup warm water

1 1/2 tsp yeast

1 tbsp honey

2 tbsp olive oil

2 tsp salt

500g (about 4 1/4 cups) bread flour

1/2 cup browned butter

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 tbsp rosemary

2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions -

1. Mix warm water, yeast, and honey; let bloom for 5-10 minutes.

2. Add olive oil, salt, and bread flour recipe of blooming water until wet and sticky. If dough is dry, add 1/4 cup more water. Mix and scrape down the bowl. Let rest for 10 minutes.

3. Perform 2-3 stretch-and-folds, spaced 30 minutes apart, then let dough rise for 2 hours.

4. Brown 4 tbsp butter with garlic and rosemary, strain, and mix with 1 cup mozzarella and 1 tbsp rosemary.

5. Divide dough into 12 pieces. Flatten each piece, add 1 tbsp filling, and fold to seal. Roll into balls.

6. Arrange rolls in a greased dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.

7. Preheat your oven to 425°F. Brush the rolls with 4 tbsp melted butter and sprinkle with sea salt, 1 tbsp rosemary, and garlic. Dimple using your fingerprints.

8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, sprinkling with cheese halfway through, until golden and puffy."

Daminette December 2023: 2-Framed

Bruce heard the door bell ring and looked at his watch.

'Right on time.'

He opened the door to see Commissioner James and Barbara Gordon. He had invited them over for Christmas Dinner. Out of the corner of his eye, Bruce spotted his granddaughter running towards them.

"We were framed!" Amaya shouted, "We were framed!"

Barbara began to laugh, "Did Jason teach you that?"

"No." Amaya answered, looking confused.

"I'll take a look in a moment." Bruce answered, guiding her away from the door.

She quickly ran away.

James Gordon chuckled, "Already teaching her to run away from the law, I see."

Bruce chuckled in response, "New family portrait was hung up today."

"Ah." James answered as he entered the manor.

Amaya ran through the kitchen.

"I was framed!" she shouted.

Jason picked her up, "That's right! Anyone who thinks otherwise, you tell me."

"The portrait." Bruce spoke.

Jason took note of the Gordon's in the doorway.

"That's what I meant." he replied.

Bruce just sighed.

Jason smiled, "Let's go see that frame, Kiddo."

Amaya ran past her grandfather and his guests. She quickly spotted another one of her uncles.

"I was framed!" she cried out to Dick.

"Jason!" he yelled out.

"The portrait, you Idiot!" Jason replied.

Amaya smiled, "Idiot!"

Dick smiled, "Good luck."

"Let's go see that frame." Jason stated, hoping to change the subject.

"I was framed!" Amaya cried out, again.

Jason made his way with Amaya towards the main parlor. The portrait was suppose to go over the fireplace mantle. Before they could enter the doorway, Marinette and Damian came down the stairs.

"Maman. Baba." Amaya shouted, "We were framed!"

"Oh!" Marinette spoke, "Is it up already?"

Amaya nodded, happily.

"Let's go see it, then." Damian commented.

Jason quickly took the opportunity to run out the front door. Damian looked on as his older brother ran.

'Why did he run? We're suppose to look at it as a family.'

"Yay!" his daughter shouted, " Let's go, Idiot!"

Damian turned to the door, but Marinette grabbed his arm.

"Later, Habibi." she smiled.

Damian smirked in return and picked up their daughter. When the three of them walked in, they found everyone else already there.

"Where's Jason?" Bruce questioned.

"Hiding." Damian stated.

"Why?" Barbara asked.

"Let's just say he taught Amaya a new word and decided to run before we found out, seconds later." Marinette answered.

Bruce sighed and began to reveal the painting, knowing Jason was still lurking around. He probably was outside looking in with a sniper scope he had in his leather jacket. He was just glad that Damian wasn't chasing after him, at the moment.

"I was framed!" Amaya shouted as the portrait revealed Bruce with his sons, Marinette and Amaya.

"Yes, you were." Damian spoke.

Marinette simply smiled at the painting of her family.

Set the table for Christmas diner!

I have a family dinner with my terribly dysfunctional maternal family, which means yet another year of my cousin and me sitting there with looks of quiet resignation, counting down the minutes until this ordeal ends and we can go get drunk to stop thinking about how these people were legally allowed to have children under their care.

My cousin is right-wing, but I love him dearly because the trauma of being only children surrounded by mentally unstable adults is something that bonds you deeply in life. Also, he’s the only economically conservative person in the family, and I cherish him for being the black sheep who carries the taboo of not being able to mention anything about the government’s economic policies without enraging my communist uncle lol
