So, Kakashi is allowed to join Jiraya on his book tour around Fire country as his designated driver (he had to fight tooth and nail to get this mission! Good thing Icha Icha taught him how to smooth talk people, am i right). Kakashi can finally ask his favorite author all the questions and share his own head canons and ideas - he's going full nerd mode, unashamed fanboy, cringe free romance novels enthusiast.

Jiraya soon gets tired of him and searches for opportunities to occupy Kakashi with smth so he can wander off to a bar and "do more research." He gives Kakashi tedious tasks like replying to fanmail, arranging hotel stays, and even settling issues with the publisher. The latter has been bugging Jiraya about deadlines for months, saying that his "generous patron" is not satisfied with the slow pace; he needs more books! So maybe Kakashi could figure out how to persuade the sponsor to wait a little longer.

Kakashi introduces himself as Jiraya's apprentice and goes to a meeting with the mysterious patron who is not able to speak a word at first (what a weirdo!). But soon they're having coffee and pleasantly chatting about fine literature, Kakashi enjoying himself and the company of this goofy man (while Jiraya's enjoying Kakashi's absence). The patron asks if Kakashi is satisfied with Jyraia's writing and if he would like him to write faster. To which Kakashi responds that he's okay bc he respects his favorite author's process and wouldn't dare to rush him. The meeting is a success, so Kakashi is cheerfully skipping back to find Jiraya and tell him that the publisher won't bother him anymore.

A story where Kakashi almost finds out that Tobi of the Akatsuki is the man who sponsors Jiraya's writing career (for very personal yet selfless reasons 🤫😏)
