i think it is very silly to react to dropout's response like "why were people mad, you know the cast and crew are pro palestine" yeah exactly and if they weren't i don't think attempting to push a petition/boycott to them about this would do anything. the result of them acknowledging this was a net good. twenty thousand dollars

Matthew Mercer's video/announcement is exactly why the practice of fans demanding statements from "celebrities" is so problematic.
If people CAN make a statement and speak out and feel like they are in a place to do so, they should. And if people make statements on the wrong side of things they SHOULD be held accountable and called out for their bullshit.
But you never know what someone is going through, you never know what someone is struggling with and capable of emotionally, and you never know what people are doing privately. Just because it's not being screamed from the rooftops, doesn't mean it's not being done.
Personally, I have stayed largely quiet on social media regarding the Genocide occurring in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis occurring at the hands of Israel because I spend my days providing therapy to those who, like Matt, are just stuck and depressed with everything that's happening in the world and just don't have it in them to fight yet another thing that's happening, and like them, by the time I get home, I need to separate myself from that.
That doesn't mean that I haven't done what I can, that I haven't donated and called my representatives and signed petitions, it just means that what one person has the capacity to do, someone else might not have the capacity to do.

I'm thinking about the absurdity of everything that happened to the Mighty Nein when they finally make it to Rosohna.
Like, imagine being the Essek for that.
Here's a group of adventurers. They have a surprising number of humans in their midst. That's a little suspicious considering the war with the Empire. After a few questions, they appear to be the world's most obvious and transparent spies. Like... Come on, they don't even really seem to know the region.
Well, whatever, guess they're gonna be treated appropriately-
Oh, that's a beacon. In a moment of stress, they proceed to pull out the most valuable relic of your people, which was stolen, or lost, and just... hand it back over to you.
You (as Essek), know about 95% of how they got their hands on it, because you've been keeping tabs on it because you're the one who handed it over in the first place. And here it is. In the throne room. They have no idea what it is, but they know the Bright Queen wants it, and they seem to earnestly want to make friends, and really would just like one of their members to get her husband back.
And the whole thing gets even stupider because you (that is to say Essek), decide that your best chance of keeping everything secure is to be the one who keeps an eye on them, and these dumbasses categorically refuse to stop trying to befriend you. You are specifically, actively trying to stop them from getting you caught and executed for treason, and they're like 'hey, you want to come over for dinner or something? We have a hot tub.'

Before I make a short post about a recent development regarding my D&D game, I’d like to direct everyone to some actionable resources to aid Palestine if you don’t have them bookmarked already.
Daily Clicks to help Palestine || E-Sims for Gaza || Education on Palestine
This is being posted on my art account because I frequently get asked questions about the game I run and this would eventually come up. TLDR: I had to kick a player.
All posts on my blog regarding this player or their character have been removed. I do not want anyone seeking this person out trying to find who it is or harassing them. I think they have problems that need to be worked through and may be suffering psychologically. However I am not going to run a D&D game for someone who defends Zionism and the genocide Israel is currently perpetuating, let alone implies that me and my friends are antisemitic for being pro-Palestine.
It's over and done with, and the remaining players and I have decided to restart our current campaign. I just wanted to explain why a few posts with a large number of notes are missing, or why a PC is missing. Big thanks to you guys for being so invested in my art and the wonderful stories I get to make with my friends. Please bookmark the links above and do your part to support Palestine. Antisemitism is never acceptable, but criticizing Israel is not in and of itself antisemitic. Free Palestine.

Hello people around the world! I’m an awkward human being, but here we go:
I am Zeth, and I want to finally do something for the people suffering in Palestine.
So, I am willing to do CR sketches (or any fandom, if I’m familiar), even OC sketches, if you’re interested in that! (I will probably work a bit slowly, mostly bc I will do this while in uni and my summer is decked) I can also do art studies, if you have an interesting art piece at your disposal as reference (with at least the name of the artist)
All I’m asking of you, is to dm me with a screenshot of your donation to doctors without borders, or any of the following sites.
Also as a heads up, I never did com/missions before, so it will be fairly new to me. I appreciate your understanding and patience while I figure it all out.
Other donation sites:
CareForGaza
Palestine Children's Relief Fund
Kinder Relief
Funds for Gaza liktree
And you can help for free with a click here!

You can, in fact, both love something and criticize it. I love Critical Role with all my heart, it's helped me through some of my toughest moments, but their silence about Palestine is both disappointing and worrying.
They AREN'T just a group of nerdy-ass voice actors playing Dungeons and Dragons anymore. They're their own company now, that has spoken up for and donated to several causes. They have a whole Foundation dedicated to this.
Different causes the Critical Role Foundations have donated to:
ending childhood cancer
eradicating childhood poverty
protecting LGBTQIA+ people worldwide
children in under-resourced communities
children born into India’s lowest socioeconomic class
improving economic conditions for Native Americans
It's understandable to expect them to speak up about this one and be upset because they haven't. Palestine is important. Palestinians are important. They are dying. This isn't about keeping a reputation or a follower count, it's about using their resources to let them know that they are not alone in this, that they are being fought for, and that everything possible will be done to help free them from their colonizers.
And from what I understand, some of their locations (Notably Marquet) are based loosely on early Palestine, which makes their silence a whole lot more disappointing.

This is beyond “you are not immune to propaganda.” This is “you are willfully taking the bait and refusing to let go because owning the libs is what you base your entire brand of online activism on and to that end you are willing to praise fascists.”
Trump did not magically negotiate a ceasefire deal 5 days before his inauguration by coincidence. I refuse to believe there is anyone stupid enough that they can recognize Netanyahu as a fascist, but can’t see how he would hold off on accepting a ceasefire deal all the way until right before Trump’s inauguration in order to prop up another fascist government that will let him finally raze all that’s left of Gaza to the ground. This is a deliberate attempt to spite liberals over real analysis of the negotiation.

I hope Taylor knows that this is finally the last straw for me. I stayed by her side while the whole world hated her. I stayed by her side when she was silent about blm. I stayed by her side while she was silent on roe v wade. I stayed by her side while she was silent on laws being passed against lgbtq+ people. I might have left, but I came back after she was done with Matty. I stayed by her side while everyone attacked her for her carbon emissions. I stayed by her side while she churned out thousands of unnecessary vinyl variants. I stayed by her side while she called me a viper and a judgmental creep for being mad that my fav dated a Nazi. I not only stayed, but defended her for her lyrics about racism. But I can’t anymore. I can’t sit through another fake ass speech about pride. I can’t watch her leave platform after platform and limit her comments so she doesn’t have to hear people asking her to speak up. I can’t watch this woman, who SWORE to use her platform for good, stay silent on anything that could be slightly polarizing. I can’t continue to watch someone who has so much capacity for good turn it down in favor of selling more (honestly hideous) merch.
Taylor, I’ve sobbed to your songs. I’ve celebrated to them. I’ve supported you like I’ve supported no other artist. You have been one of the few constants in my life, and your music has been a safety net for me. I have come to your defense over and over and over again. But no more. I refuse to be one of the people supporting you through your complicity. I’m done.

essek says free palestine. don't stop talking about what is going on in gaza. every word and penny counts. speak out on social media. go to protests if you feel safe to (and wear sunglasses + a mask + bring bottled water). motivating fandom spaces can be vital to spreading helpful information! i will provide some helpful links below. 🇵🇸🍉
Doctors Without Borders: uses donations to send medical personnel and supplies to gaza
Arab.org's Daily Click: a good option for people who cannot donate money. each click sends proceeds to gaza.
Save the Children: an org dedicated to sending aid to children specifically, in both gaza and sudan (which is also experiencing a genocide).
Palestinian Red Crescent Society: a palestinian-run aid service that sends food and medical supplies to people in gaza.
Culture & Free Thought Association: one of the biggest and most active aid orgs, currently supporting displaced folks in rafah as well as providing education and entertainment for kids.
American Friends Service Committee: a protest group hosting rallies for ceasefire as well as providing on-the-ground aid via donations.

Critical Role fans are an interesting bunch.
They praise the cast for being socially conscious, but the second anybody points out how badly they dropped the ball when it came to Palestine, fans will come flying out the woodwork with a bunch of excuses.
Again, the fact that it took people threatening to boycott the show for the cast to donate money to Pro Palestine charities is absolutely infuriating.
You had people like Susan Sarandon and Angelina Jolie who were risking their careers by speaking out, while the Critical Role cast were busy hawking out tacky merch.
I'm sorry if expecting people with a massive platform to speak out against a literal genocide hurts your feelings, but I really don't know what else I can say at this point.
I don't value celebrities, I just think that not using your platform to speak out against what is currently happening in Palestine makes you a coward.

Girl just wanted to say I’m so glad ur pro Palestine liberation … there’s hella Zionist radfems on my dash and it’s depressing af. Leftist my ass.
I actually genuinely think that the radical feminist space has a problem with cultural chauvinism. It's not soo surprising, since a large part of gender critical thought comes from the United Kingdom and the rest of Europe, and in the last decades it has been a huge topic for european right-wingers to hate on Muslims.
Liberal feminists have been defending things like the Hijab or patriarchal tendencies in Islam because of their moral relativism, and how to view Islam has always been a big debate in feminism. The radical feminist tendency has largely been to view Islam and practices like the Hijab very critically, and sometimes the same criticism has not been extended to other religions like Catholicism.
At the same time, the IDF has been working overtime to make themselves seem like this super feminist entity where women enjoy the same rights as men (the right to ruthlessly slaughter innocent civilians lmao).
I personally think that many radical feminists have a long way to go in interpreting the oppression of women in other cultures, and how it is different to white western patriarchy (which includes myself as well). Acting as if all women everywhere experience oppression the same way and their only way to being saved is by adopting the european idea of radical feminism is a form of cultural chauvinism. When we want to speak about different cultures, we should make sure to first listen to the women who are part of that culture, and not to impose our own idea of feminism onto other cultures who function in a different way.
so yeah, this aversion to people who are perceived as Muslim (not every Palestinian is Muslim, even though European media portrays it that way), the insane propaganda towards feminists from the IDF and the idea of the "white woman's burden" who has to convert every culture in the world to conform to her particular idea of feminism are leading many radical feminists to think that the IDF can do no wrong and that all Palestinians are some sort of brutish hordes that can't possibly govern themselves.
