I have the opportunity to finally start gifting some of these away this coming weekend, so I bit the bullet and finished sanding all of my wood fire pots from June. They also got a scrub, something I neglected to do for my first batch of wood pots this past December. I won’t have grody ash/clay dust on them this time LOL

It also gave me the time to inspect some of the damaged and “oops” pots. Some were knocked into each other (and other potter’s work), while some I had foolishly put some slips on at the wrong stage and produced some sharp flaking. I’ll share more of those details, including what the pot is/is on the pot as well as general kiln location, once I get it all photographed and processed and up on my artstation.

I think in the same way there's a 90/10 rule with horror and comedy (horror works best when it's 90% horror and 10% comedy and vice versa) there's a 90/10 rule for some relationships in fiction that's like. this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this. i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐

DISCLAIMERS AND NOTES ETC.... I'm Pākehā, meaning I am not of Māori descent. I hold so much respect for Māori people, for their values and traditions, and for the fierce pride with which kapa haka is performed. I thought if I was going to design a Māori Miku, it makes sense to dress her in a kapa haka kākahu, as her whole thing is singing and dancing!!! The moko kauae is not based off any real person's. I referenced the temporary moko kauae a lot of kapa haka performers wear!! Was tricky finding out whether or not depicting her with a moko kauae was a good idea, so I went the safe route- showing an aspect of Māori culture without stepping over any boundaries!! Brown eyed Miku is everything to me shout out brown eyed Miku.... I referenced like seven different outfits to put hers together!! I really hope this looks accurate or at least passable. Thanks to adorkastock for the pose ref!!
