Protective instincts aside I love Jack saying that his attack was "so recklessly". He did fear for Jonathan's life and tried to shield him with a crucifix and a wafer because he kept trying to Kill. I imagine him talking about the attack with the tone of a man who is wiping his sweating forehead going "And then, the absolute madlad-"

Jack: "We were trying to play it safe, united front and all, except someone kept trying to actively gut the ancient undead horror right then and there. And then he lizard fashioned out the window to try it again when said undead horror threw himself out of the building to escape. And then he went chasing after the undead horror to try and carve him open in the middle of a crowded street. If Dracula hadn't sprinted for it I'm pretty sure your husband would have filleted him in the Square. how do you think films and television get made?? hate to break it to you, but it's all for the money. new line cinema didn't say "we love tolkien, pj, let's do this for free!" they were literally looking for a franchise hit when they decided to take the films over from miramax - which is exactly what every studio and their mom is trying to do now!!! it's movie business, baby! to say the people behind trop - the actors, the casting directors, the production designers, the vfx artists, the art directors, the armorers, the costume designers, the set decorators, the makeup artists, the ADs, the carpenters, painters, prop-makers, steelworkers, laborers, animal handlers, sound editors, miniature builders, stuntpeople, craftspeople, movement and dialect coaches, trainers, lighting techs, jewelers, etc. - don't care about the story they're telling???? is a wild reach. obviously they work for the showrunners who work for amazon who care the most about making a profit, but so did peter jackson and new line!! wanting your project to be financially and critically successful is not an inherently evil thing, come on guys, are you still buying into the starving artist fallacy 😭

there are tons of little nods to the silmarillion and other parts of the legendarium in the rings of power. yes, there are also changes and goofs, but lotr and the hobbit film trilogies also had their fair share of changes and goofs. i just think that "these people didn't read the books/this is just a money grab/pj & co. cared about the source material while these losers clearly don't" are tired arguments used to justify subjective opinions, not to mention the way it reeks of revisionist history considering the way tolkien purists initially took great issue with deviations made in lotr and especially the hobbit.

it's almost like...the most hated tolkien adaptation is ever the current one.

I dreamed that ian tries to give mickey swim lessons. Mickey is ashamed other people will know he can't swim so they jump the fence at night when the building is asleep. Of course everytime ian puts his hands on mickey to show him mickey gets horny and keeps giving him looks or tries to grab his ass and they always end up fucking in the pool. Mickey still doesn't know how to swim despite them going every week in summer. And everytime mickey mentions to someone how much he loves swimming ian gives him the most side eye yeah I bet you do mickey...

I've watched Helluva Boss and enjoyed it to an extent, and I am planning on eventually checking out Hazbin Hotel cuz it seems to be about the same, tone and concept-wise. I'm sure I'll like it fine.

But like! I truly canNOT understand the extreme hype. And the most frustrating part is the fact that these are painfully mid shows. They're definitely interesting concepts that could potentially produce great storylines, but they end up getting bogged down hard in sloppy and rushed execution. It's disappointing.

Also, it says A LOT that the numerous fan redesigns of the Hazbin characters that I've seen look miles better than the originals. For a show that was in development for the series proper for over four years, it flaunts some of the most godawful "Tumblr sexyman" middle school looking character designs I've ever had the displeasure of watching huge swaths of fans go balls to the wall nuts for. They really dropped the freakin ball on that front imo. Oof.

Like I said, both these shows are good, to an extent. But I'm not sure Hazbin in particular deserves so much... perfunctory praise, I guess, is how I'd phrase it.
