a while ago, partner & i went stick hunting for various projects and found a somewhat dragonish pine branch -> Stick Dragon Time!

all bark, sticks and lichen are natural materials, mostly unaltered except for some light drybrushing. the head and legs are 3d printed, and painted to match the wood. the whole noodle is about 1,5 meters long, and will reside on the living room wall. making this was the most fun i've had with a project in some time; there is a healing power to sitting on the bathroom floor for hours glueing scraps of wood together.

Finding out that Frances Dana Barker Gage, a white woman, rewrote Sojourner Truth’s famous speech to be more stereotypically “Southern slave” (complete with slurs and misspellings like dat, dere, dey) when Sojourner Truth was actually from New York and spoke only Dutch until she was almost ten and wouldn’t have actually sounded that way linguistically and decidedly did not use the phrase “Ain’t I A Woman?” at all is…whew. And on top of everything, she embellished details about Sojourner Truth’s life (like the number of children she had/how many of them were sold into slavery), wrote that ST said that she could take beatings like a man, and the reception of the speech in the room (she claims ST was called a n*gg*r, earlier accounts say the room was welcoming).

This may not be an issue many people think about, but about 8% of the male population is colour blind (about 4.5% of humans total). Colour blind usually meaning you have trouble distinguishing between red and green. Despite this being a fairly high percentage, my partner, who is colour blind, frequently encounters board games and video games he cannot play because they rely on colour vision. An easy example is Uno, where you need to play either a matching colour or number. If you can't tell apart the colours, it's very hard to play.

So kudos to this new print of Uno for adding those little symbols for the colour blind:

There are several boardgames that I have marked with permanent marker so my partner can play them. It's a small added design feature to have symbols matching colours but it makes a big difference.

this is such a tiny stupid petty dumb sticking point but why do people act like hot-water baths are ludicrously unrealistic in a DnD setting no matter what the setting or context actually is

one time in melliwyk's campaign we were staying in a luxury inn in a dwarven stronghold partially populated by warforged and built inside a volcano and each room had its own private bath with running water on tap and when I/ melliwyk was like 'hot water? 👀' the DM gave me a scathingly incredulous 'no??' like that was the world's dumbest question
