you know, i kinda wished more people took into account that maybe OJ (ii) is autistic and not really something like NPD? it feels a bit wrong to say he is that by the writing of the show? there's nothing wrong with headcanoning him as such though. (as i know it's a personal comfort for people!)
maybe im a bit biased, but as someone who's autistic, i tend to see a lot of oj's traits and behaviors being stuff i've done before. (miscommunicating, unable to handle sheer amounts of social stressors, cleanliness/over-cleanliness, etc...) and yes. autistic people can come off as selfish/mean/etc. it happens to me all the time without me even trying sometimes. :/
i know his writing in season 1 was even supposed to be "the quiet normal one" and then he got a chance to be in the spotlight more, but even in seasons as late as three he still struggles with the same traits he's had since season 1. (he even says to paper in season 1 that he's not able to trust anyone because his past connections fell apart due to the nature of the competition and he seemed really genuinely happy that paper wanted to be his ally/friend)
he even went out of his way to apologize to pickle when he said something he knew he was wrong, so he tried to amend the issue as soon as possible! and he even went out of his way to help paper when he was struggling with the evil paper stuff.
i know a lot of people disregard season 1 for writing, but i feel his season 1 time is a huge part of why he's the way he is in season 2 and onward.
yeah he won the show, but he HATES the spotlight. he doesn't revel in it. when he was the host temporarily in season 2 he did a really horrible job at it and that's because of the pressure placed on him. (he even talks about how the show puts a pressure on people. if anything his conversation with balloon came from an extremely personal perspective: his own!) he wasn't trying to push balloon away in a negative way he just didn't want the same to happen to him too! i just don't think saying he's selfish and self-centered is right.
i wish there was more headcanons that focused on him being autistic because he very much reads this way to me and not necessarily NPD. it's just an extreme disservice to his character to me. he's not "self-centered/selfish" he just doesn't know how to express himself without using a high social status that his peers know him well for. that's much more in line with an autistic trait imo.

i also think the fact that i had such a stunted and isolated upbringing and now that im an adult all my friends are on atypical life paths (and honestly even my friends as a kid were like this too) means i find things that are usually very common life stages really interesting. like knowing someone who has a house and a wife and 2 kids (with that wife) and a job with a salary feels like meeting fucking paul bunyun to me. or hearing the kids i work with talk about graduating high school and going to college and being on a real path with that stuff is neat? or even sometimes knowing cis/het people who are like going thru that coming of age stuff that i never really experienced the way you see it in the movies bc of transness/queerness/neurodivergence. its like woah they said the name of the thing in the thing. do u know what i mean???

Do any of you remember a Youtube video about Re:Kinder talking about how the game is seen and percieved by some people (mostly touching upon and arguing against how it has been treated insensitively as some sort of weird legend like "ooo disturbing game with a hidden truth behind it" due to it's creator being dead), as well as talking about the charm of the game (even mentioning it's art at some point) and sadness of the themes without spoiling anything at the same time?? I remember the video avoided saying any spoilers at all and only touched on the literal plot as the kids being stuck in a dire situation in the town with all the adults dead without really getting into the why (it didn't even say one of the kids themselves was the cause— as thus, spoiler free), other than that it just touched on the emotional side of it and vaguely mentioned some scenes.
i also remember at some point the later half (at the very least if not in all of it) of the video, music by Siinamota was playing in the background. Does anyone remember seeing a video like this?
I can't seem to find it anywhere and don't even remember the exact year I watched it.😭 It was the way I found out about this game a while ago, which eventually ended up in me playing it, and I really wish I could watch it again. I thought it was a deleted video by someone called hazel as it was mentioned by a lot of people, but I found that one and it isnt it.😓 I'm wondering if anyone remembers watching something along the lines of what im describing and knows if it's still up.

when i was younger and hung out around my uncle a lot more than i do now, i remember whenever he referred to things regarding his native heritage, he always just called it "indian". called himself an indian, called the words he taught us indian, so on. since i was a little kid who didn't know any better, i didn't know that "indian" in the context of indigenous americans was a very broad, frankly bastardized term to paint a vast variety of cultures spanning two whole damn continents with one brush. it only occurred to me as i got much older than i was at the time that there'd be more than one "indian" language, and up until now since i had no idea what tribe(s) he even is i couldn't even begin to know where to look unless i found a download of every goddamn interlingual dictionary available and painstakingly checked every godddamn one for what their word for "thunder" is
the word he taught us meant thunder was hiloha. i didn't even know how to spell it until now, because he only ever said it aloud. literally just a few minutes ago, i decided to ask my grandma (his sister) if we knew what tribe(s) he belonged to. and apparently he's a mix of choctaw and makah. which gave me a lead, which led to me finding a dictionary on libgen, which led to me word searching "thunder" in the choctaw to english dictionary. it's the only word i remember him teaching us, and i'm unsure if he ever tried teaching us others. but it was his dogs name, and he was a damn good boy, so i remembered it clear as day. though, they normally shortened it to "hilo".
so, i guess what came out of this is that i now know a bit more about my uncle's heritage, and where to look for more research. so, if you're gonna have a takeaway from this, i'd appreciate it if you remembered the word "hiloha". it means thunder. and aside from being the name of a very good boy who deserves to be remembered, i think it's even more important to remember the histories, cultures, and of course the languages of all the indigenous folks who came before us and did their damndest to preserve their cultures in spite of it all.

i pray that FLB doesn’t make shadow.peach canon by the end of the series in the same fashion that catra/dora was
as i say that, i mean it in the way that the execution felt rushed and that we, the audience, weren’t shown the effort put into repairing that hot mess of a relationship -- and that’s putting it lightly.
i loved seeing the Main Couple[tm] on screen, even if i saw some... serious red flags in the first episode -- whereas back then it seemed that swk n mac really DID care for each other in the few scenes we get to see them together -- but to see them just smashed together in the end, in what felt more like an ideal ending written in a fanfic, where the IT Couple finally get together and no one else has much agency, rather than with the respect seen and given in earlier seasons.
i pray that we get a better execution for these monkeys if they do become a canon couple at the end...

i feel like the real reason im upset over tr's ending is because they're not really the characters i fell in love with. the characters who went to hell n back, who are lowk traumatized, who had to deal w a great loss ... that is what made them the characters i truly loved
