So since I've already kind of discussed how qtubbo Is acting differently with the friends. The only other person we didn't get that I really wanted was pac and phil but more specifically pac.
The other day was the first time in a long time pac and tubbo were even together. He planned a murder with yd tho.... Kinda, yd was planing to kill him and tubbos absolute ability to be a very polite wet cat turned her off?? That's normal qtubbo behavior tho lol. Honestly murder more people qtubbo. Its good enrichment. Yd and tubbo murder hide n seek game.
Anyway I'm gonna take this as canon, that pac is another person hes calm with. He was very chill talking with qpac. Like how he is with qbagi he was just following her around all quiet. Like will pac think very thing is fine cuz hes "normal" and then he hears from fit that hes fucking unhinged.
cuz I don't think I could handle him yelling at pac. Pac makes me sad it be like when in purgatory qcellbit killed him. Sent me in a coma.
Actually it be pretty cool if he's fine with pac by himself but when he's with fit tubbo is the aggressive angry version of himself.. My fave headcanon now. Their relationship was one of the factors for his spiral so its a cool thought
Actually that's canon now lmao./j

I’ve said this before but I keep thinking about it every time someone mentions the TWP characters. We somehow got into a situation, again, with 3 traumatised sad boy teenagers who are going to be absolute drama queens and have really interesting relationships. While Dru & Thais are our only source for girl on girl content and that kinda saddens me, and while I’m looking forward to TWP it sort of dampens my excitement and makes me a little nervous.

I haven't tagged anything for femslash february even though I have drawn some f/f stuff this month, but I've felt like, if I didn't draw it specifically for that purpose it felt a bit weird to use the tag! I've already satisfied the conditions of the challenge (make at least 2 femslash works in february) but in a way, I almost feel like not tagging it is a little liberating! I want to be drawing wlw artworks all year long, first of all, and I also don't want to be getting myself caught up in trends chasing some algorithm that is always going to be against my favor unless a bigger creator decides to promote my work-- a thing that's up to luck and connections and not any hashtag I could use
That said though, I plan to draw more ladies this month and throughout the year as I always do! It's just nice not to feel obligated to do it because of what calendar date it is

There's something so wonderfully beautiful about seeing fantasy media showing the actual reality of what that sort of world would be. The adventurers covered in blood and rags after a huge fight. They look tired and exhausted.
It communicates survival. Survival in a world that's so much harsher. Where the creatures live around every corner and do not see us as predators, but prey.

IMO I think that c!Tommy is just really easy to put into the role of a protagonist, and this is a thought I've had ever since I started reading c!tommycentric fanfics: To the inniters and the c!Tommy apologists, he's just a guy that's always sticking with his friends, fighting against evil. He's chaotic, sure, but his heart is always in the right place.
Underdogs are also naturally suited for being main character material. We love seeing someone come out on top when the cards are seemingly stacked against them. People cheered for L'Manburg against the DSMP, people cheered for Pogtopia against the c!Schlatt administration, people cheered for c!Techno against the Butchers and for the Butchers against c!Techno.
Being a vigilante is just naturally suited to fill the role of the underdog, also, due to the amateur nature of their work compared to heroes, or not having the resources to circumvent the law like villains might, or a plethora of other reasons. And vigilantes - at least in the way these superhero fics are written - often have a really strong moral conviction. They want to help those who can't themselves. They are the batmans and spidermans of their respective world.
I think a better descriptor for Tommy's "trope" (for lack of a better word) in these superhero fics is that he would have a strong sense of morals. And this isn't meant to be a dig at OP or anything of that sort, I want to make that clear, but c!Tommy's written in roles other than just a vigilante. Even in Clinic, he's just a civilian that believed that everybody deserved to be able to live. And well, the feds aren't going to help the villains on the deathbed, so somebody's got to. Why not him? What's the worst that could happen?
c!Tubbo is almost always the super smart tech guy. c!Techno is almost always the resident anarchist, even as a hero (unless the author chooses to go towards the route of him being an emperor, all SMP Earth style). And yeah, c!Tommy is often written as a vigilante, but I think that's just the nature of these fics being c!tommycentric in some way, and like I said, vigilantes are just more likely to be main character types.
I personally don't think it's a necessarily bad thing, I just think it's a neat explanation for why c!Tommy is so often not just written as a vigilante, but as all sorts of people. To the people who love his character, he's just a natural protagonist. In one fic, he's the prince of the Antarctic Empire, who feels unloved by his family but finds love in the found family of c!benchtrio. In another, he's a poor orphan child that would find love in the found family of emperor c!Philza and his children of c!twinsduo. In one fic, he's a hero who gets beaten down and becomes hopeless due to the cruel nature of his toxic work environment, but gets saved by the notorious villain group the Syndicate. In another, he's a villain who gets severely traumatized by the more violent people in his line of work, but gets saved by the top heroes of SBI.
I think more than anything this shows Tommy's style of rp compared to, say, Technoblade, who is relatively similar to him in terms of how often they break character/do bits and such.
the phenome that DSMP superheroes became will always be amazing to me. I think people saw the role of underdog vigilante and went 'c!Tommy clearly.' Meanwhile with the super savvy tech guy they came up with 'Yeah c!Tubbo!" The nice part about this fandom (MCYT in general not just DSMP) is that things spread incredibly fast and aus become popular and its just really fun to see.
Also! Seeing trends being set by popular fanfics! For the hero aus it was mostly TUMOASD and Clinic which are both amazing fics! Because of that them becoming so popular wasn't a surprise. The MCYT fandom is basically built on the backs of fans and its so nice to be in a community where everyone puts so much time and effort into it!

the thing about some men is that they want you to remember, at all times, that you are underneath them. that with one word or look or "joke", you will stay beneath them. that even "exceptions" to the rule are not true exceptions - the commonly cited statistic that one in eight men believe they could win against serena williams.
women's gymnastics is often not seen as real gymnastics. whatever the fuck non-euclidian horrors rhythmic gymnasts are capable of, it's often tamped down as being not a sport. some of the most dominant athletes in the world are women. nobody watches women's soccer. despite years of dancing and being built like a fucking brick, men always assume they're faster and stronger than i am. you wouldn't like what happens when they are incorrect. once while drunk at a guy's house i won a held-plank challenge by a solid minute. the party was over after that - he became exceedingly violent.
what i mean is that you can be perfect, and they still think you're ... lacking, somehow. i hope you understand i'm trying to express a neutral statement when i say: taylor swift was the possibly the most patriarchy-palatable, straight-down-the-line woman we could churn out. she is white, conventionally attractive, usually pretty mild in personality. say what you will about her (and you should, she's a billionaire, she can handle it), but a few things seem to be true about her: 1. she can write a damn catchy song, and 2. the eras tour truly was a massive commercial success and was also genuinely an impressive feat of human athleticism and performance.
i don't know if she deserves the title of "woman of the year," i'm not debating that in this post. what i am saying is that she was named Woman of The Year, and then an untalented man got onstage at the golden globes and made fun of her for attending her boyfriend's football games. what i am saying is that this woman altered local economies - and her dating life is still being made into a "harmless" punchline. the camera panned, greedy, over to her downing a full glass of champagne. congratulations taylor! you are woman of the year! but you are a woman. even her.
fuck, man. write better material.
a guy gets onstage at a college graduation and despite the fact like half the crowd is made up of women, he spends a significant proportion of it warning these people - who spent possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars on their education - that they were lied to. that the "real" meaning of femininity is motherhood. that they shouldn't rest on the laurels of that education-they-paid-for but instead throw it away to kneel at a man's heel. imagine that. sweating in your godawful polyester gown (that you also had to pay for!), fresh out of 4 years of pushing yourself ever-harder: and some guy you've never met - who knows nothing about you - he reminds you this "win" is a pyrrhic one at best. you really shouldn't consider yourself that extraordinary. you're still a woman, even after years of study.
god forbid you are not a pretty woman, but if you are pretty, you must be dumb. god forbid you are not ablebodied or white or cis or straight or good at swallowing. you must be beneath a man, or else they are not a man. the equation for masculinity seems to just be: that which is not a woman or womanly (god forbid). anything "feminine" is thereby anathema. to engage in "feminine" things such as therapy, getting a hug from a friend, or crying - it is giving up ones manhood. therefore women need to be put in their place to ensure that masculinity is protected.
this is something i have struggled to explain to terfs - they are not doing the work of feminism, but rather the patriarchy. by asserting that women and men must be (on some secret level) oppositional and in conflict, they also assume that being a woman is akin to being another species. but bigotry does not stem from observational truths or clarity - that is what makes it bigotry. there was nothing in my childhood that made me fundamentally different from my brother. we are treated differently nonetheless. to assert there is some biological drive that enforces my gender role is to assert that women have a gendered role. men do not see women as equal to them not because of biological reality - but instead because the core tenant of the patriarchy is that women aren't full, realized people.
we are told from a very young age to excuse misbehavior as a single man's choice - not all men. it is not all men, just that one guy. all women are gold-digging bitches who belong in the kitchen - but if a man is mean, bigoted, or violent to you, it's just that particular guy, and that means nothing about men-as-a-whole. it is only one guy who got mad when you gently rejected him. it is only one guy who warns her this trophy is heavy, are you sure you can hold it? it is only one guy who smashes her face into the cake. it is only one guy talking into a mic about hating our bodily autonomy.
i have just found that they often wait until the moment we actually seem to be upstaging them. you sit in a meeting where you're presenting your own findings and he says get me a coffee? or you run to the end of the marathon and are about to finish first and he pushes your kids out in front of you. you win the chess game and they make some comment akin to well, you're ugly away. we can be the billionaire and get the dream life and finally fucking do it and yet! still! they have this strange, visceral urge to say well actually, if you think you're so great -
it's not one just one guy. it's one in eight.

Just saw an insta post about one of those New Yorkers who would walk around with a mic asking random people thier opinion about things and he asked “what’s it like dating in NYC?” And she said that in the beginnning, her bf would pay for all the meals whenever they went out and the COMMENTS from all these men 🥴
Like call me an old fashioned heterosexual Midwestern but it is perfectly normal in our patriarchal society for men, to pay on, frankly, every date and it’s not even about that, clearly it was the man who was asking the woman out for dates and usually it’s an unspoken rule that whoever asks to go on the date pays.
Like idk what kind of 50/50 narrative people are fiercely defending and believing to have men and women split the bill all the time or keep tabs on who pays every time, but in our patriarchal society a relationship is NEVER 50/50 and the LEAST a man can do is pay
Like obviously it’s ok for a couple to go 50/50 if it’s mutually agreed upon, but the attitude in the comments were more along the lines of “why should I pay? What am I getting out of this by paying for more than the 1st date?” Like sorry you’re broke?!? No offense if you don’t have any extra income to pay for dates, you are in no position to be taking women out to restaurant dates or anything that requires a ticket in NYC of all cities, like be FR this isn’t some low cost area 😬
Let’s be fr that a woman is always giving a man way more in social status, resources, etc just by letting him be around her. Unfortunately, a part of how “successful” a man is perceived to be in society is impacted by whether or not women want to be around him or if he’s in a relationship or not, even if it’s just the public perception of him being in a relationship
Straight men know that if he is in proximity to women it elevates his perceived social status, even if his intentions are totally innocent
Also not to mention this 50/50 business for straight couples I only see in western countries but if a man tried that shit in Asia or the Middle East…. lmaooo

Artist note: I’m so proud of this :))) I know it’s a lot of dialogue and reading, but dialogue is grueling work for me. I’m glad with the art and for the amount of pages I made in such a relatively short time span -w- page 5 was super fun to work on. A lot of blood, sweat, and hours here... :) The backgrounds were a big bore tbh, but I finished them! Yippie!

Lan Wangji goes to Lotus Pier (No relation to the AU of the same name)
[First] Prev <–-> Next
#poorly drawn mdzs#better drawn mdzs#mdzs#lan wangji#wei wuxian#Another split type comic because I decided to be ambitious.#This flashback is currently beating my ass. There are so many timeskips within the flashback! My flow and pacing are wheezing!#I loved how this scene starts with the crowd's point of view. The observations and gossip add a lot.#And it helps reposition us to what the external perspective is on these two. Namely that 'they don't get along.'#Tensions are known! Even here in Nouveau Lotus Pier.#Ah...Lan Wangji never got a chance to see the Lotus Pier of Wei Wuxian's childhood and adolescence...did he?#It's not the same. He's not the same. Call them by the same name and people will know what you mean...#...but the first version - the one with the fond memories - is gone for good.#It's sort of interesting isn't it? How names can hold so much power and still be hollow?#We often get stuck over past versions of things. Be it ourselves or other people or places.#Change is scary but the truth is nothing ever stays the same. It's always moving. You're always moving.#It's okay to mourn the past. Maybe it's people you lost or the person you hoped to be. Let yourself feel the grief.#And then? Then you grow around that pain and keep on going. If you feel like you can't - remember you don't have to do it alone.#A side note: Listening to the tossing flowers extra is so essential for this scene. It's cute and gives us more of [redacted]#What's [redacted]? You'll see in the next comic!
