Soooooo viewer discretion is advised here because the music video I want to share with you is graphic. As in : the day it got aired, it was cancelled after a few hours in France because of public outrage. So please don't watch it if you don't feel like it, take care or yourselves first ! Basically it's a music video/short movie about bullying.

And I love this music video and I also can't help but think about Snape and the Marauders. A little context first :

It's a song from the french group Indochine, a notably quite politically engaged group going back to the 80s. They've been singing songs for the missfits, the leftist, the LGBTQ+ people for decades. And this particular song is about not fitting in, being misunderstood, being different. In the video, the boy is hinted at being queer (gay maybe) and he's getting heavily bullied for it. The video is graphic as shit. Like when you think it can't get worse, it does, and it encapsulate, to me, the utter violence of what school can be for victims of bullying. I've been there myself and the day I saw this video, years ago, it spoke to a hidden, visceral part in me. It's really fucking good. I felt so seen and in my guts, I know Snape would too.

The way everyone is blindfolded, absolutely aware of what's happening but merely looking/ignoring/recording the atrocities is amazingly portrayed. Also the violence of the authorities not believing the victim when it's absolutely obvious they did nothing wrong.

And when I look at this now, I think about Snape. I think about the crushing loneliness of the world being against you just because you exist, of the ever increasing cruelty of your assailants. And honestly the boys bullying him have HARDCORE Maraudeurs vibes to me. And I'd love to hear your opinions, fellow Snape fans ! I know maybe some of you relate to Snape because of this as well, so maybe this could be cathartic for you too. But take care of yourselves !

Also for any Snape hater wanting to come here and argue that he fought back, he wasn't all innocent, blah blah blah, I don't care. This is about relating to and understanding the years of abuse we know he suffered from as a very socially excluded young person, leading to him almost dying once and being choked and SAed in public.

how niko is with the LIs !!

time to do this finally because i need to yap about niko

alex: first, let me say how much i adore alex. i need to get this out of the way because if i don't get my love for him out now, it will impede my ability to write about him later. anyways. niko and alex are a very cute couple!! alex was very endeared to niko when he first started working at the farm because niko was too stubborn to ask alex to do anything for him, so he was always doing the hard shit by himself despite being awful at it. slowly, though, he got better, and they fell in love, and niko's skills made the farm actually defensible from remy's attacks (he's also occasionally disappearing to play naked blackjack with a different farmhand to protect the farm, but hey alex doesn't need to know that). alex is detached from the town, so he's a little clueless to all the shit niko's had to deal with, and niko's fine with that. he likes that alex isn't aware of his past reputation. of course this illusion kinda shatters with the remy-goon-murder incident, and that kinda fundamentally changes their relationship, but alex kinda just takes this as an excuse to love niko even harder. also alex is the britishest person alive and niko thinks that's. incredibly funny

sydney: god it's SO hard to write for the main three without talking about The Polycule AU but i will do my damnedest. unlike alex, sydney does know everything about niko. if there was an exam on nikolaj kaminski, syd would be the only person in the world to get 100%. he and niko tell each other everything. it's not like sydney has any reservations around niko- he's the one who showed him a whole new side of the world!! their souls are completely bare before each other!! of course there's still some discomfort there because syd has changed a lot for niko, he is definitely happier now but still. it's hard to reconcile the fact that everything he thought he knew has been thrown into limbo. it's also hard to scrap the traditional ideals of love the temple gave him. niko is a thief, a murderer, and a former prostitute- not exactly the spouse the temple had in mind for syd. but niko's such a good boyfriend, and syd wants him forever, plus sirris likes him, sooooo... fuck what the temple wants lmao

whitney: niko was NOT someone that whitney wanted to fall in love with. he was always kind of an outsider- this freaky little basket case of an orphan, roaming around town, always covered in scratches in bruises, always cursing in polish under his breath. unfortunately, though, niko is beautiful, and the strange mixture of utter submissiveness and utter delinquency is way too compelling for whitney. when they start dating, niko decides he can fix him!! which is ridiculous because he can't even fix himself but go off king. once they figure each other out their dynamic is pretty cute. niko meets whitney where he's at and this is how he gets into thievery, which whitney thinks is adorable. whitney realizes the upper limit on his insults for niko because otherwise niko will break down cry

robin: of course, niko and robin were childhood best friends. they had little crushes on each other growing up and it was cutesy!!! they started dating when they were old enough to but mostly only because it was expected of them. it felt like the easy, natural thing to do. and of course niko started paying robin’s rent! but that put a lot of extra strain on him that he didn’t need. i think niko and robin both kind of understand that their relationship is pretty much just a really good friendship with a bit of sex added on, and they’re fine with that. it’s relaxed!! in the polycule au robin is totally different though heehee i have thoughts on that

kylar: niko and kylar's relationship is... strange. kinda the classic non-lover kylar x pc relationship. niko thought he was sweet at first! he didn’t bully kylar or anything and kylar of course mistook this for affection. niko was totally fucking oblivious to kylar’s feelings for him until kylar kidnapped him. and niko was terrified but people-pleased his way out of it. they had a lot of sex, absolutely none of it consensual. niko’s just very thankful he didn’t get pregnant from that whole endeavor. now kylar thinks they’re soulmates and niko is mostly just terrified for his life. another reason why he rarely leaves the farm!! he also feels obligated to keep kylar from hurting himself. yay for one-sided toxic obsessive love

avery: this relationship is. a ticking time bomb. that's the best way to describe it. niko sucked up to avery a lot in the beginning because he needed the money. he was kind of a perfect sugar baby, just doing absolutely everything avery said. avery loved him for it. niko put up with everything. but then quinn won game night, and niko was so fucked up from the experience that he started avoiding avery altogether. he had enough money by that point. so now, niko’s rarely every in town and does not need avery and avery is fuckin ANGRY about it. i haven’t decided how he’s gonna take revenge yet but you bet your ass he’s gonna do it

After the rushed wedding, Sparry & bride (neither of whom had ever owned a home) were not gifted a new HOUSE from the BRF. To rectify the situation, master manipulator MEgain immediately fell megnant and hired drones to invade their Cotswolds privacy.

Spoilt Sparry immediately demanded a "safer" home close to London (and away from the fishbowl) to protect the privacy of his megnant bride. William helped secure the home renovation project at Frogmore Cottage.

According to MEgain's multiple alias accounts, she was insulted by the BRF's offer to renovate Frogmore Cottage. Perhaps she had her green eyes set on an apartment at Windsor castle or at Frogmore House. She certainly felt entitled to reside in a REAL PALACE, not another refurbished old cottage. When I first saw the trailer for Fellow Travelers I was disappointed because it looked predictable. Turns out it wasn't nearly as predictable as I thought, and is actually quite good. But then I got to thinking...why not share a list of series and movies that folks might be interested in watching once Fellow Travelers is done airing.

Bully. Coward. Victim. (2019) and Where's My Roy Cohn? (2019) - Both of these documentaries focus on the life of Roy Cohn, from his time at the McCarthy hearings, to his time as the Studio 54 lawyer, to his work during the Reagan era and his eventual death from AIDS. Where's My Roy Cohn? also focuses in on Roy Cohn's working relationship with Donald Trump. "Bully. Coward. Victim. was produced by the granddaughter of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg and as such, it also focuses more on the lasting impact of Cohn's role in their executions. There's a lot of overlap between the two documentaries, but I think they're both worth watching if you can.

Against the Law (2017) - This is a biopic about Peter Wildeblood, a man who was put on trial for homosexuality and who, remarkably, acknowledged that he was gay during the trial. This trial and Wildeblood's later actions, are considered pivotal in the movement toward decriminalizing homosexuality in the UK. The movie takes place mostly in the 1950s and, again, deals with queer men trying to find love in a time in which laws, social norms, etc. made it exceedingly difficult to do so. The drama is interspersed with interviews in 2017 with real queer men who were alive at the time of the trial.

A Very English Scandal (2018) - As the title suggests, this miniseries takes place in the UK. It's based on a true story...even the more outlandish moments. Jeremy Thorpe (Hugh Grant) is a career politician who's been hiding that he's gay for decades. He's developed a ruthlessness and callousness to his own situation and he, predictably, treats everyone around him as disposable. Then along comes Norman Scott (Ben Whishaw), a young man who Thorpe is instantly attracted to. But Scott struggles with self-acceptance and mental health issues, and Thorpe has no compassion nor patience for any of that. The result is a dark comedy about this doomed relationship alongside the change to the law in the UK to decriminalize homosexuality.

It's A Sin (2021) - This is a miniseries that follows a group of queer folks during the 1980s in London. It's all about their search for love and finding themselves and whatnot, even as they are forced to deal with HIV and AIDS. It's a good show that is worth a watch, especially if you haven't seen much else about being queer in the '80s.

Angels in America (2003) - Of course Angels in America was going to end up on this list. It is one of the definitive pieces of fiction on living in New York during the AIDS crisis. The play was originally performed in 1991...just four years after AZT was approved for use in the US to treat HIV and AIDS. It's big, and complex, and as much about the state of the U.S. at the time as it is about these individual characters and their lives. Also, Roy Cohn shows up, working as a political operative for Reagan. It really is, as it's subtitle says, "A Gay Fantasia on National Themes."
