While Botic had his fair chances in this match, R. Carballes Baena still maintained his dominance that came from the first set. The former created another break point thanks to his smash to force the first deuce while fumbling the latter's break point, but it was insufficient to turn things around before the first seed held his serves to 1-0. To continue, another +1 forehand error, followed by another drop shot fail, did not help, thus R. Carballes Baena broke to 2-0 before consolidating his lead to 3-0.

It took several more games before Botic scored one of his rare points of his own, where he lobbed his way before volleying it to set up his lead before holding his serves to 4-3. Somehow, R. Carballes Baena then earned his chance to serve for the match, which he successfully did (6-3) to secure his maiden Challenger-level title this season.

This week's Challenger-level finals started in the Braunschweig Challenger, where first seed Roberto Carballes Baena, who defeated Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-1 in a confident manner, took on fifth seed Botic van de Zandschulp, who went to the scenic route to defeat Pedro Cachin 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-3 in the semifinals. Things could have gone much worse in the first set, but that might have explained the former's level throughout the match.

Botic had an erratic start to the match, where his cross-court forehand error created R. Carballes Baena's break point before the latter broke early to 1-0, followed by a consolidation to 2-0. Somehow, after a +1 forehand error, the fifth seed's failed drop shot created the first seed's break point before he doubled the break to 3-0, and he held his serves to 4-0 right after to assert more dominance in this match.

In the next game, even if Botic survived the worst, he still held his serves (4-1) as he created his latest game point through a working volley as he tried to transition from the baseline more smoothly. Interestingly, he had fair chances as he had 3 break points, but R. Carballes Baena still saved it before holding his serves to 5-1. The former then should have served to stay in the set, but R. Carballes Baena's point construction prowess was displayed again as he scored a forehand winner to create his set point before he served the first-set breadstick (6-1) thanks to his forehand return ace to continue his dominance.
