“Snapdragons.”

“Sunflowers.”

“Snapdragons.” James repeats.

“Sunflowers.” Regulus is getting increasingly louder.

“Snapdragons.” James crosses his arms over his chest.

“Sunflowers.” Regulus puts both hands on the table to lean closer to James.

“They should be your favorite flower.” James tells him.

“That’s ridiculous! They should obviously be your favorite flower!” Regulus throws his hands in the air.

“Ugh, what are you two fighting over now?” Sirius asks as he walks into the kitchen.

“Nothing!” James and Regulus say at the same time and Sirius just gives them a look.

“What flowers Regulus should carry when he walks down the aisle.” James says with a longwinded sigh.

“It should be sunflowers because those are James’ favorites and he’s just being an idiot.” Regulus says frustratedly.

“No, they should be snapdragons because those are Reg’s favorites.” James tells Sirius.

“Wait, your favorite flowers are called snapdragons?” Sirius asks Regulus with a bit of a laugh.

“Yes! Why?” Regulus snaps at Sirius.

“No reason.” Sirius holds his hands up in surrender. “Why can’t you just do some sort of combination of them both?” Sirius asks like it’s obvious.

James and Regulus are both silent for a moment before they share a side glance with each other.

“Did you honestly not think of that?” Sirius asks with a sigh and pinches the bridge of his nose. “Why did I agree to be your wedding planner?” He mumbles under his breath.

“Snapdragons and sunflowers sounds like it could be nice.” James tells Regulus softly.

“I guess.” Regulus says a bit petulantly but he’s sharing a sweet smile with James.

“Now you can kiss each other,” said the wedding officiant.

It wasn't unusual at all, the way Remus leaned down and Sirius got up on his toes and tipped his head, but the feeling that came with that kiss was. A touch of their lips contained everything: their past, present, future, and their presence within them, all that he is and all Sirius is, his mind echoing; you, me, forever, forever, forever…

The cheers of their friends seemed impossibly loud with the given crowd size, but it was enough to make him feel filled to the brim with love. Lily was openly ugly-crying, James was laughing-shouting while holding Regulus close, Marlene and Dorcas were kissing, and the others were doing some combination of those things.

And Sirius. Oh, god, Sirius. Calling his expression a smile wouldn't do it justice. Remus was fifteen all over again, falling in love in a millisecond and years simultaneously, every single word to describe Sirius turning into alphabet soup upon seeing the blinding light that was his now-husband.

He leaned down again, this time to tuck Sirius’ hair behind his ear. Unable to contain the inhumanely wide smile on his face, he whispered those magical words they would forever remember:

“No homo.”

“Hi, Jamie. Do you know how late you are?” Regulus’ voice comes out softer than he intended. He planned to snark at James about the delay, but he’s a weak, weak man who becomes putty for his fiancé. Always has been. It’s a wonder he’d upheld the pretense of hatred for so long. Ultimately, it didn’t survive the exposure to James’ charm.

“Went for a run to settle my nerves and lost track of time a bit, sorry. I’m sorry. Accepting full responsibility, but I’m here now.” 

“That’s gonna cost you,” Regulus announces. He understands the impulse to get his nerves under control. He’s in the same boat, jittery and on edge, but seriously. Losing track of time? Before their wedding? Is he for real? 

“Anything you want,” James adds, clearly aware he messed up.

“Don’t make claims your Gringotts account can’t support.” 

James chuckles, and Regulus turns in his hold to glare at him while struggling against the mix of admiration, lust, and need that always floods him in James’ proximity.

“Honey, I’ve got deep pockets and Galeons to spare.”

“Don’t care about your gold.” Regulus slings his arms around James’ neck and tugs him down. “Start with a proper kiss, and we’ll see where things go from there.”

"Oh, and James? Are you bringing a date?" silver flashed in front of James's eyes, "I only ask because everyone has been asking me if you've met anyone!"

"I wasn't planning on it."

"You might want to rethink that kid. You know how your mother's family can be once they sense a bit of drama." James shuddered a little at the thought of answering a hundred questions about his love life after he'd drank a couple glasses of wine.

"Oh, come of it. My family is not like that. They all just care about James's happiness, that's all. Don't make it out to be something cruel." His mum sniped back. His dad only looked at James again, a long pointed look.

"I'll think about it." James said. Surely it wouldn't be too hard to find a date, if only for a couple weddings.

"Oh! Does that mean you already have someone in mind?" His mum swung her head round so she could look at James. Walking forward to grip his forearms.

"Mum!" He exclaimed, "I just said that I would think about it!" The feeling of fluffy black hair beneath his fingertips coursed through his nerves.

"Oh! You're blushing! There is someone!" His mum was practically jumping up and down with excitement.

"Mum…" James groaned, hanging his head.
