speaking of All The Things She Said, to this day it still kills me that when someone was scoring the big fight scene at the series finale of the Birds of Prey TV show where Helena was down bad for Barbara, THAT was the song they went for (make no mistake, it was amazing but lollllll)

Birds of Prey, Episode 1:
A teen girl watches as her mother is killed. A redheaded woman answers her doorbell to reveal the Joker, who shoots her. A little girl named Dinah wakes up screaming from a nightmare about these two events, which her mother assures her wasn't real.
Several years later a teen girl named Dinah boards a bus for New Gotham.
We meet Helena Kyle during her therapy session with Dr. Harleen Quinzel, who she has been sent to by a judge due to anger issues. Helena tells Dr. Quinzel that she watched as her mother was murdered when she was 16, six or seven years ago, and that she then discovered Bruce Wayne was her bio father. He left town shortly after, and she was taken in by Barbara Gordon.
Dinah watches a man run out into traffic. Before he dies, she touches him, which allows her to read his mind and learn that he was attempting to run away from a horde of rats. She is unable to explain this to the police.
Helena goes to meet Barbara at the Clocktower. They discuss a recent string of suicides that Barbara finds suspicious, and discover that all of the dead men were involved in the same business deal. There are two still alive.
Helena rescues Dinah from a creepy guy, and Dinah recognizes her from her dreams. Helena brushes her off, and goes to the home of one of their potential victims, who has hung himself. A police detective finds her on the scene and arrests her. They fight, they flirt, she escapes and returns to the clocktower.
Dinah shows up at the clocktower; she learned where it was and how to get in by reading Helena's mind. They argue about what to do with her and eventually decide to let her spend the night.
Helena goes to speak with their last potential victim, who also happens to be an old neighbor of hers. Dinah goes to investigate something else for Barbara, and discovers that the last potential victim is probably actually the instigator. Neighbor Guy uses his superpower--the ability to make people see their greatest fears--on Helena. Barbara and Dinah arrive to rescue her, but he tells them it's too late; if his victims don't kill themselves they'll just be trapped reliving their greatest fear forever.
Dinah uses her telepathy to enter Helena's mind, and brings Barbara with her. They save Helena. Fear Guy is sent to Arkham, and Dr. Quinzel is brought in to evaluate him. She beats him up for getting caught and ruining her plan, revealing herself as the villain mastermind.

Howdy hello- guess who made a wings au :)
More to come with this eventually- I’m working on my designs for other characters at the moment, but for now we’ve got Red-Tailed Hawk for Curt and Eagle Owl for Owen.
For DMA I had Barn Owl wings because a) Barn Owls are beautiful and I wanted to draw the wings for them, and more importantly, b) Owen would probably want to disguise his wings, and it would make sense if it was as a different type of owl. I just assume he’d dye his feathers in some way or another. Look- just don’t think about it too much.

This is self-made. Date: 30.07.2024
Honestly, the only result surprising me is the HQ/Bruce Wayne ship...
OFC = Original Female Character(s)
The Jokester: a hero on Earth-3, appearing in the comic series "Countdown" in 2007.
Ivy Pepper: Poison Ivy from the Gotham TV series (correct me if I'm wrong)
Jerome Valeska: a mass murderer from the Gotham TV series who seems weirdly similar to the Joker
Richard "Rick" Flag Jr.: field commander of the modern Task Force X, also known as the Suicide Squad
Arthur Fleck: Jokers (potential) real name in some media
I assume no guarantee or liability for the completeness, correctness and accuracy of this chart despite my best efforts.
Includes fanfictions in all languages available on Ao3, NOT English only.
Includes all fandoms connected to the name "Harleen Quinzel" and her alias "Harley Quinn".
Percentages were rounded up or rounded down to natural numbers for easier comprehension.
Poly ships were included.
More charts will follow. :)
Want to have a chart for different pairings, headcanons etc. in your favourite fandom? Send me an ask!

Things about Birds of Prey TV 2002 that Just Don't Make Sense:
1. Selina Kyle was allegedly the love of Bruce Wayne's life, and he was so broken up by her death that he gave up Batman and abandoned Gotham, never to be seen again. However. He hadn't been in touch with Selina for so long prior to her death that he DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THEY HAD A 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TOGETHER.
2. Bruce Wayne learned that he had a bio daughter, who had just WATCHED HER MOTHER GET MURDERED IN AN ALLEY, and didn't even bother to meet her.
3. There is a TON of emphasis on our protagonist being "half metahuman," which means that she has a metahuman mother, a human father, and her own metahuman powers. This implies that ALL of the other (full) meta characters come from a long line of exclusively meta-powered people on both sides of the family, which strikes me as extremely unlikely. Especially as one of them is, in addition to being a meta himself, an anti-meta bigot who thinks all metas except himself should die. Hard to imagine his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. are all metas. Being a meta--HAVING SUPERPOWERS--isn't like being, like, Scottish, where you can be half Scottish because your dad's Scottish. It's like having brown eyes. You wouldn't be like, oh, yeah, I know my eyes look brown, but I'm actually half blue-eyed on my mom's side. You either have superpowers or you don't. You can't be half superpower-haver.
4. Dinah is somehow enrolled in the local high school under her actual name, despite being a runaway who Babs does not legally have custody of.
5. Dinah is a teenager, and she has telepathy and telekinesis instead of a sonic scream. Like, why not just make up your own character?
6. Helena is out here fighting crime in her everyday clothes with no mask, and yet is extremely protective of her secret identity. What secret identity? You don't have one.
7. The average Gotham citizen has no idea that metas exist. The average Gotham cop has no idea metas exist, and our cop's coworkers all think he's crazy. But somehow Arkham is full of people like Clayface, and this guy who has multiple personalities and shapeshifts into a different form depending on who's fronting? Like, who is making these arrests? Who's doing patient intake? How is everyone shocked by superpowers, again and again and again?
8. Everyone keeps talking about how we don't kill. And yet, we have killed so many people? And most of them are metahumans, and there's this whole thing where we have to deal with people thinking metahumans are less than, or at least other than, baseline humans, but we keep killing so many metas, and I don't think we ever kill a standard human? Except for maybe that guy who was running a nonconsensual metahuman fighting ring, but in that case we left him to the mercy of the metahumans in question, all of whom were under the influence of an aggression-enhancing drug he'd given them. Which means they might not have chosen to kill him if they hadn't been under the influence, and are potentially now grappling with horrible guilt and possibly all sorts of other complicated feelings about how he considered them less than human, he drugged and manipulated them in order to make them act in the allegedly "less than human" ways he wanted, and then they turned around and did something they never would have if it wasn't for his influence, and does that mean he's right? Does that mean he's won? Like, why would you put those women in that position, where they weren't in full control of their actions and you KNEW they were going to make an incredibly violent choice that they may not have otherwise made, and can absolutely never take back? After all that talk about how murder is never the answer?
9. Lady Shiva was a petty crook who fought Batgirl, back before she was Oracle. Their fight ended in an explosion that Batgirl thought killed Shiva, but we later learn that the explosion actually killed her 15 year old sister, and she's back for revenge. The problem: Lady Shiva is also Helena's high school best friend, who left Gotham when Helena was 16 at the oldest. If they were in school together, Shiva should also have been 15-17 years old at this time. Why was this 15 year old sister not at the same high school as Shiva and Helena? Why did Helena, Shiva's best friend, not even know her similar-aged sister existed? Why was Barbara horrified to learn she had inadvertently caused the death of an innocent 15 year old, but not at all concerned when she thought she'd caused the death of a maybe-17 year old who was guilty only of some stealing?
10. If Helena didn't know her dad was Bruce Wayne, and Bruce didn't know Helena existed, until after her mom's death, how and why did Helena have a close relationship with Barbara Gordon well before her mother's death? They knew each other well enough that Helena's best friend Shiva also knew Barbara pretty well, and apparently Barbara was the best choice to take custody of Helena after her mother's death, despite having suffered a severe and permanent spinal cord injury on the same day Helena's mother died, and still being in recovery. Barbara knew Helena, knew Helena was Selina's daughter, and likely knew Helena was Bruce's daughter. And yet Bruce had no idea. And this version of Barbara clearly admires Bruce greatly even after he abandoned her and Helena, and doesn't really seem like someone inclined to keep secrets from him.
11. Harley Quinn had a baby genetically engineered to be aggressive, kill on command, and live out an entire human lifespan in three days. All of these features were deliberate. The aggression and kill on command bits make sense for her alleged goal: that this baby would be the first in an ultimate army of assassins. But how did she think a drastically shortened lifespan would help with this? Wouldn't a three day lifespan mean she had to constantly pay for more babies to be genetically engineered? Wouldn't this dramatically increase the costs of maintaining an army of assassins?
12. Barbara is apparently using Helena's trust fund to pay for all of her Oracle equipment? I'm not sure why she has a trust fund in the first place, since Bruce didn’t know about her, and didn't seem to be in the right frame of mind for thinking about things like setting up trust funds when he left. But she has it. And taking in a foster kid and then using their trust fund for your own thing is, like, super sketchy, especially since your thing is a secret thing, so you can't exactly tell anyone who asks exactly how you spent the money. I guess this has the potential to work if Barbara and Alfred are the trustees and no one else is involved enough to need to know the specifics? It seems like there should be, like, a lawyer or a banker or someone somewhere in this process. This seems like a very bad system. Helena is also a crimefighter, who benefits from the Oracle equipment, and her trust fund is presumably large enough that the equipment doesn't make a huge difference, and she's said several times that she doesn't want Bruce's money. So this probably isn't negatively impacting her at all. And it's possible Barbara didn't start doing this until Helena was a legal adult and could legally consent to the money being used this way. But, like, regardless of the specifics of this situation, Foster Parent Using Your Money For Her Own Purposes is a Bad Thing, and it's weird that the show doesn't seem to see a problem with it.
13. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake all exist in this world. They are mentioned once each. We have no idea where they are, what happened to them, why none of them are in Gotham, or why none of them have maintained contact with Alfred and Barbara.
14. At one point a man attempts to kill himself and Helena with a poison gas in a high school classroom. Helena solves this problem by exiting the room and closing the door behind her. Like, I'm supposed to believe that this random classroom is airtight? No gas is going to leak out under the door?
15. Where is the Joker? Apparently he went to prison after shooting Barbara, and that’s the last he’s seen? Harley is clearly still hung up on him. She also clearly has access to Arkham, and is a very successful secret criminal mastermind. She’s genetically engineering assassin babies. She’s making meta transference machines so she can steal other people’s superpowers. She’s robbing armored trucks. She’s convincing her patients to murder their wives. But she’s not breaking the Joker out of prison, or Arkham, or wherever he is? Like, this makes sense for the purposes of the story; Harley is the main villain, and if she freed Joker that role would probably go to him instead. And frankly this version of Harley is a lot more interesting than the joker as a main antagonist. There’s not much you can do with the joker that hasn’t already been done a thousand times. But it doesn’t make sense that she wouldn’t try to break him out. The sensible thing to do here would be to say he was killed after paralyzing Barbara. It wouldn’t have to be a whole big thing, just a quick little backstory detail. He’s armed and dangerous; it wouldn’t be at all surprising for the cops to struggle with bringing him in alive, or even for them to not bother trying.

I’m going to say it
2002 Birds of Prey show was a good show. And I’m tired of people not knowing it exists/shitting on it.
Tumblr media
It did a good job with Barbara (minus one thing I hated in the finale) as Oracle and her talking about being Batgirl. It did a good job with Helena Kyle-Wayne as Huntress. I’m still up on the air with Dinah. I enjoy Dinah, but then remember who Dinah Lance is in the comics and go “…huh”. But Dinah as a new character, I enjoy her. Alfred? God I love him. Alfred deserves the world. Some of the villains, pretty decent, especially for the fact is was freaking 2002 and the superhero obsessed world hasn’t come to full fruition.
I rewatch this show a lot. It’s one of my comfort shows. “But it’s cringe” oh shut up. Without this show you wouldn’t have much of a CW superhero superhero-verse. “But this part doesn’t seem very realistic” Shut up. I don’t care. It’s okay. I don’t think it’s realistic either but it’s a show. It’s okay
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also while I’m at it. WTF dc. I’m still waiting for the ending of my 90s Birds of Prey arc. I have so many unanswered questions and characters who don’t exist anymore and never got an offical backstory on
