My partners parents found out I’m learning Bulgarian, and now I feel more pressured to learn more, and learn faster 😮‍💨

life lately is filled with lots of studying via practice questions and breaks filled with books and crafts and baking! i currently have a pleasant board exam study schedule that consists of a nice slow morning with a matcha latte and some reading, completing 160 practice questions, then relaxing the rest of the evening with the usual hobbies like reading, crocheting and knitting, cross-stitching, etc. recently i’ve read the idiot by elif batuman, berlin by bea setton, and now i’m reading either/or (sequel to the idiot) by myself and the thursday murder club by richard osman with my boyfriend. overall having a much better time studying for step 2 than for step 1!

been thinking about angus growing up lately. not in a sad way just like, becoming peers with the adults in his life but still having been raised by them and changing the dynamic as he becomes an adult, and the weirdness that comes from that transition interacting with the fact that some of his family members age fairly normally and some of them look like the exact same fucking age as him because they’re functionally immortal

Work is really quiet today, and when it's quiet I kind of get to do whatever I want as long as I don't leave my classroom.

I also recently got a new job elsewhere on campus, so I'm on "two weeks' notice" behavior right now as it's my last three days. I decided to bring some things to photograph for eBay as I continue to de-hoard.

So my boss comes in and I'm standing there with a fully assembled dollhouse furniture display and a bunch of dolls on one of the tables. And doll clothes are everywhere. And tiny little plates, and cups, and a little hotdog.

And my boss (who wasn't supposed to be here for another two hours) just materializes in the doorway, and she stands there, open-mouthed, staring at me and this ostentatious spread of Dawn dolls.

I'm like, "I can explain-"

But she instead did the most unexpected thing and just burst into tears and was like "I'm going to miss you and your strangeness so much. What will this place be without you to make it all fun?"

I think it's great that in the ten years I've been here, I've not only been perceived as strange, but people have thought I "make it all fun," given the fact they have no idea I'm NostalgicFun :)

God how humbling it is to have to make a daily routine/schedule for Ratio just to write fanfic. Does he just have like a 48 h day or some shit? How the fuck does he find time to be a researcher, teacher AND member of the guild while also doing interviews, dealing with the ipc (and Aventurine's ass honestly) and the genius society??????

No wonder he sounds so stressed all the time.

christmas cookies & biology revision🎄

Only had one lesson today so I spent the rest of my morning reading :) Started baking Christmas cookies after lunch and then drove to the gym for my ta lesson. To my surprise I only had to prepare the equipment and then chatted about my library shift so I used the rest of the lesson to go though my biology notes again. Exam is tomorrow and I feel both well and horribly prepared. I’m feeling too unwell to study right now so let’s see what happens tomorrow…

Overall feeling not too great, I’ve been way too anxious today. The deadline for my term paper is making things worse; I considered scheduling a therapy appointment for Wednesday but I do not want to bother my therapist on short notice so we’ll see if I can cope well enough or if I’ll get myself to text them…

Now: trying to distract myself by reading or watching tv (show/movie/book suggestions appreciated<3)

I have like 0 followers on here, but PSA to the 3 of you following me, I’ll be less active for a bit. Getting used to settling into a new job with full-time schooling.

And midterms are coming up so I’ll be doing a lot of practice baking instead of drawing. (I’m a baking student)

life since the semester ended. chilling and baking and sleeping like a normal human! pumpkin cookies, bone broth from thanksgiving turkey, apple tart, bread rolls, and (not pictured) matcha cookies!! hoping to make some sugar cookies or maybe a loaf cake soon.

more of life lately!

i’m still in my dedicated study period for my board exams. i think as the exam gets nearer, my IBS gets worse but that’s life i suppose. i’m still spending my mornings working and sneaking some fun in by doing coffee study dates with friends at a favorite local spot of mine (i’m very nearly a regular!) and relaxing with some crafting, baking, and exercising in the evening! personally, i think going to the gym is very fun but maybe it’s bc i think of all the machines as a sort of playground. whatever works i guess! in terms of reading, im reading the white album by joan didion on my own and the man who died twice (sequel to the thursday murder club) by richard osman with my boyfriend and enjoying both of them so far. if anyone has any books they’d like to recommend, please let me know! my fave genres are lighthearted classics, gothic literature, and whatever genre my year of rest and relaxation is (if you enjoyed rest and relaxation, then i’d highly recommend berlin by bea setton - i was previously recommended bunny by mona awad in the same vein and it did not impress me)

I met up with K today, we went over to my house where we made a forest fruit pie that was devastatingly uncooked at the bottom and just not good... It was so so sad.. We had a whole funeral for it too lol (geniuenly devastating tho, we were so excited for it). In between cooking and prep times we watched Avatar The Last Airbender and she's watched it many times before, this was my first, and I'm actually really enjoying it!

The conversations we had today were really fun and I'm so so happy and greateful with how close the two of us are, as well as how little of a braincell with both share 😂.

I talked with R, J and A today too, and have been more often recently too and I really really love how much closer and casually conversational we've gotten. Especially after knowing each other for so long. It's also comforting me with knowing that I will 100% be staying in contact (and it being easier) when A is away somewhere else for uni.

I've also been having really deep and personal, those late-night sort of conversations with J and I love them so incredibly much too. They're always so fun and nevermind that I love talking to him, it's also lovely how mnay opinions we share on certain topics.

A and I are also fully locking in for the rest of the school year and we're back to keeping each other accountable which is so so useful and I'm just really happy about the extra interaction I'll have with her 😊
