I just stumbled over some of the Olicity scenes in 4.08 Legends of Yesterday on YouTube, and can I just say WTF! That’s always my mind’s first reaction when watching them.
And can I just point out the hypocrisy and gaslighting on Felicity’s side? She accuses him of not trusting her and yet, she is the one who didn’t trust him, used her skills to track his movements, and forced Barry into showing her something he was aware of Oliver didn’t want anyone to know about. That screams I trust you to me.
Especially after Oliver told her there was something he needed to figure out and he would let her know what it was about, as soon as he had more information. Yet, she didn’t even wait for him to return to find out if he was telling the truth or not. No, she pretty much stalked him.
So, who isn’t trusting whom?
And all of this after she had lied to him for months, worked with Team Arrow behind his back and pretended she was as happy and content with their life in Ivy Town as he had been.
She is the last person who has the right to get down on Oliver for lying. Seriously!
And since she realized it was a paternity test, Oliver had Barry do, she’d also realize Oliver had only learnt about being a dad, maybe two minutes before she showed up to demand answers from Barry, which would’ve been a couple of hours before she confronted him. When exactly was he supposed to let her know? This was the first time he’s seen her since finding out. Give the guy some time to process and you know, if he still hasn’t told you in a couple of days, okay, maybe bring it up but not like this.
This is a major event in Oliver’s life, and like he pointed out to her it is a lot more complicated than it appears at first glance.
He had also just learnt that Samantha and his mom purposely misled him into believing his child died before it ever had a chance at life. Oliver was confronted with loosing a child in his early twenties, whether he had wanted it or not doesn’t really matter, the flashback to that event and the fact that Oliver is a good, compassionate and caring person clearly shows how much he had struggled with that loss.
To then learn it had all been a lie just to keep him out of his child’s life? How utterly cruel and devastating must that have been? Knowing that they’d rather lied to him and made him believe his child had died, then have him be a part of his child’s life. Just imagine the anguish that must have been to learn how little Samantha and his mom thought of him. This being amplified by Samantha’s demands to him.
And after considering all of this, who can blame him for going along with the demands of the woman who had had no issues making him believe his child had died in order to keep him out of their lives? In his mind there was probably no question she’d do anything in her power to keep William away from him if he didn’t adhere to her demands, she’d done it before.
I will never understand how the majority of the fandom is on Felicity’s side here and vilifying Oliver over the only choice he had really.
Oliver was the victim in everything concerning his son. Oliver and William. But that’s it. No one else was a victim in that situation.
The way Felicity behaved both times she learnt about William was just disgusting and horrible and that was the point I was done with her character. She of all people should’ve understood and supported Oliver’s choice to do whatever he had to to be a part of his son’s life, given her past with her parents.
Okay, so this rant turned out much longer than expected.
This might be an unpopular opinion but I don’t care. Oliver was the victim and everyone was victim blaming and never put his actions into perspective with everything we’ve known and learnt about the situation with Samantha and William.

Why does no one ever point out the fact that at the end of 'Heir to the demon' when Sara is at Laurel's and Laurel just attacks her, throws a fucking glass at her and her parents do nothing and take Laurel's side, Sara has literally nowhere to go. She almost died from poison, has come home after 6 years of hell and no one in her family stops her from leaving because drunk Laurel makes a scene.
And then Sara gets attacked for going to Oliver after all of that. Where else was she supposed to go? To the clock tower to be all alone after the very traumatic couple of days she's had? After almost dying just hours ago? After her sister threw a fucking glass at her and her parents did nothing except comfort Laurel? Sara must have felt so loved and wanted in that moment...
Sara almost died that night but no one actually cares. Not her family, not the Arrow fans. This fact just always gets over looked in that scene and the repercussions from it. Honestly, it's a wonder Sara didn't take off after that. She must have felt so utterly alone and rejected. It makes Oliver's reaction to her telling him she's home all the more powerful and the meaning behind her words.
Her original home, her family, had just rejected her, but Oliver, her new home, welcomed her back with open arms, dragging her right in the front door, desperately trying to convince her to stay in the home he had created with him. Wanting her with him always.
And I'm not saying Laurel wasn't allowed to be angry, she was but the way she acted was out of line and not okay, she threw a fucking glass at her, if it had hit Sara she could've been seriously hurt, and their parents should not have let it come to the point it did and just let Sara walk away.

question for you!! ive been doing some research on bows to draw and write about the character pictured below, the huntress from shattered pixel dungeon. i was wondering if you knew what type of bow would be closest to the one pictured in this art? i can't find any that curve so sharply that don't also have more than one string, and at this point i wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one at all. thank you!!! i love your videos by the way they make excellent drawing practice :]
Ok, sorry @themichaelvan, I'm gonna piggyback a rant onto your ask.
One of the curses of being highly invested in a topic is that you start to get uncanny valley much more easily when you see it represented.
A lot of drawn or animated bows suffer from one of 3 problems:
1: the bow is shown at rest in a shape that just doesn't have enough length in the string/limbs to reach full draw (as in the above case)
2: the bow is shown at full draw in a way that could never return to a resting position (usually because the string is way too long, resulting from drawing the limbs too close to their resting position- see below)

Think about how long that string would be if it was straightened. There's no way the limbs of that bow are that long.
3 (usually in fantasy/gaming): the bow is designed in such a way that the limbs simply would not bend the way they need to (usually due to being unfeasibly bulky, or made of a material- e.g. A human spine- that just doesn't have the right kind of physical properties to make a bow from.
So, discounting 3., because people who draw those usually know they're ignoring physics and don't care (in which case: that's awesome, carry on!), how do you avoid this?
Let's look at the different stages of drawing a bow:
- at rest

This is a horsebow. It's 55" end to end. The string is completely taut at rest, and the limbs have a destinctive curve, which gives them enough length to reach a 30" draw. Bows with less curve (e.g. Longbows, and the one in the ask) would need to be a lot longer (68"+), to reach the same draw length.
- starting to draw

The limbs start to straighten slightly, but it's mostly in the limb tips, which frees up some string length.
-half draw

The ends of the limbs have uncurled significantly, but the curves closest to the riser (grip) are still mostly the same
-full draw (ignore my face)

The second half of the draw changes the shape more dramatically, as the central curves bend more sharply.
Notice that at each point, the tips of the bow reach mord than half of the length of the draw? If the string needs to cover more distance than the limbs, something's gone wrong!
...
...
...anyway, to answer your question, the bow in the picture is probably a recurve or horsebow, but it's a bit too small, and the string isn't far enough along.

I have some DC analysis, but please bear with me cause idk if I’m gonna be able to explain this well.
I think that Green Arrow is actually one of if not the main DC character embodying hope.
What I mean by that is that when looking at apocalyptic DC storylines there are four main characters that regularly represent hope in some capacity. Those being Superman, Nightwing, Booster Gold, and Green Arrow. And that amongst them I find GA to be the strongest and most impactful. Going over each of them quickly:
Superman represents inherent goodness and the hope that goodness will persevere in the face of evil. Which means that when he dies or goes evil that signals, essentially, that the gloves are off. That being solely good can no longer win the fight and hard decisions will have to be made. Like how they kill people in DC vs Vampires, how they abandon humans on earth in DCeased, or all the betrayal and moral ambiguity (even from the good guys) in Injustice. If Superman is gone then the hope for any semblance of moral purity is over.
Nightwing represents unity, community, and friendship. So when he goes (dies or otherwise) the superhero community fractures beyond repair. That united front is gone. Like how DC vs Vampires literally divides everyone into vampire and non-vampire, or how DCeased separates the leaguers but putting them on different planets, or the civil war in Injustice.
Booster Gold doesn’t appear as prominently, on account of being a smaller character, but when he does he quite literally embodies that the current future remains. If he is to be born 500 years from now humanity has to not only survive but be able to return to normal. So when he fades out of existence (or at least is supposed to) it shows that things have fundamentally and irreversibly changed.
Green Arrow on the other hand represents the perseverance of humanity. He has always been the “normal person” representing humanity in the Justice League. And that also carries over into DCs more apocalyptic storylines. If Green Arrow is still alive that means that they may have to bend their morals, they may be fractured forever, and things may never return to normal, but the earth keeps spinning, the stars keeps burning, and lives goes on. If Green Arrow is still kicking then hope remains.
#green arrow#oliver queen#superman#nightwing#booster gold#also why I think they regularly keep him alive well into the apocalypse#but idk#I’m tired and just wanted to rant

I just wanted to post my rant on how Wonder Woman would beat Superman in a fight without being doxxed, tumblr seems nicer than TikTok and other apps. So I’ll voice my opinion here.
Now, the main argument I see when it comes to this is that she’s weaker and slower than him. Well, you know who’s also weaker and slower than Superman? Batman. So by that logic Batman being human would lose all fights against him since Superman is just a god. But he doesn’t.
Because when compared to people like Batman and Wonder Woman, Superman is like a kid with a yellow belt. WW and Batman are some of the best, if not the best fighters in the DCU (Batman said WW was the best melee himself). It does not matter if you’re the strongest on the team, as goes my favorite Wonder Woman line “What’s power if you don’t know how to use it.”
To put it bluntly, Superman doesn’t know how to do anything but throw punches, while Diana has been trained royally and has thousands of years of experience over him. And I’ve had someone say, “But Batman’s trained Superman a bit!” Not for 5000 years though.
Superman has too many weaknesses to win against Diana. Not just kryptonite, red suns, plot, or magic, but his lack of training and experience. Not to mention Diana isn’t that much weaker or slower than Superman. As said by Batman himself, his raw speed is faster, but her combat speed is faster. Her reflexes/reactions are so good she’s literally knocked out flash (lol)
Bringing up one of the other points of magic. Kryptonians are very vulnerable to magic, and guess what? Diana is magical. Her lasso is magic, her outfit is magical, her very creation is magical. Doesn’t matter what origin you use, magic is used. That is something that can be used to turn the tides of the battle toward her.
Another thing I’d like to address. Someone saying “But Diana is vulnerable to bullets!” And what is something she does in most of her media? Block bullets. She’s blocked bullets blind and entered the speed force. Not to mention had deflected an infinite mass punch from Zoom. And I don’t think Superman is going to be shooting at her mid-fight.
To sum this rant. Wonder Woman wins against Superman even though he’s barely stronger and faster since she’s a better fighter and is able to use his weaknesses against him.
(I forgot to add, with her ability to talk to animals she could just convert Krypto to fight Clark.)
Evidence and cites.
JLA 13 (2006)
Justice league of America 27 (2006)
Wonder Woman 212 and 214 (1987)
Wonder Woman Plus Jesse Quick #1
I couldn’t find the WW and flash comic name but it’s prob a Justice League 2000s comic 😭
Please leave more fights 💗💗

Oliver got so much hate for not wanting Laurel to take on Sara’s mantle and join his team. I always felt it was unfair and rubbed me the wrong way.
I really wish people would try to look at his perspective from time to time. He was under the firm impression that the life he choose, as a vigilante, would eventually lead to his death, just like it had led to Sara’s death. So why would he want Laurel to join that same bleak fate?
He even told Quentin: „I didn’t want anyone to be involved in this.“ Because he didn’t want anyone he cared about to share what he felt was his inevitable fate, which is an early, probably very painful death.
Plus also, I imagine having Laurel step into her sister’s footsteps and trying to be like her might have been like pouring salt into an open wound. She was a constant reminder of Sara’s death and in Oliver’s eyes his failure to save her. Even if there was nothing he could’ve done to prevent her from being killed, he’d still feel responsible for it. I can’t even imagine what it must have felt like to him. Having Laurel sort of parade around in Sara’s clothes, taking credit for her accomplishments and acting as if she were Sara.
It’s actually kinda ironic now that I think about it. Laurel accused Sara of stealing her whole life… flash-forward less than a year and Laurel pretty much stole Sara’s whole life. Wow, the hypocrisy in this show is mind-blowing, and the fandom just going along with it and not realizing how hypocritical they are with some of their claims… sorry, got a little off track here, but I just thought it was important to mention.
Oliver also knew, the last thing Sara would’ve wanted was for Laurel to put on her mask. Sara would’ve never wanted her sister to follow her into the darkness and Oliver knew that. Given the fact that she told him shortly before she was killed that they needed people in their lives that didn’t wear masks.
I could go on forever, honestly, I just feel really strongly about this. And anything really when I feel Oliver had been done wrong and people just hate on him without ever considering his point of view. Even more so if people in the same breath also do Sara wrong.

I know some ppl have already talked about this but um
Why do people always forget that comic books were originally made for kids
“why does Robin exist?” “Robin is a child soldier” COMICS WERE MADE FOR KIDS SO OBVIOUSLY THERE IS GOING TO BE CHILDREN CHARACTERS
And a lot of ppl don’t know that Batman used to be silly but then in the 80s( I think) there was a rise of people who like the darker Batman comics so they did that but now more people Don’t want darker comics so DC is making more light hearted(like BWFA) comics ☹️

Read one of the blandest takes researching for my thesis today and no you all are subject to hearing about it too. "Judd Winnick gave Mia Dearden HIV to make a statement" (This was said in support of some iffy statements following an interview Chuck Dixon did back in 2007). Well, pardon me, but no shit, Sherlock. Winnick's Green Arrow is explicitly designed to make a statement. Mia Dearden is an underage sex worker who got raped by her father when she was 9 years old. She ran away from him and sold her body to older men and took drugs to survive on the streets. She was lured in by another man who promised her food and shelter in exchange for selling her body and that's all she knew how to do (also, technically this wasn't even Winnick. This was Kevin Smith). Mia getting diagnosed with HIV is probably the most accurate next step for her development. Her entire existence was to humanize people with HIV and AIDS. Winnick wanted people to start to villainize the illness not the actually people, which the media was doing at the time. The arc itself is absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking at the same time. The concept of such a heavy topic actually being handled with dignity and grace is astonishing, especially for the polarizing world of the comics industry. I will forever be a Mia Dearden and Winnick Green Arrow defender until I die. Just say you don't understand, but don't talk to my daughter ever again.

Developing life skills and being on the nerd websiteTM is so funny because my mutuals will be like "here's a rant about how a very serious world issue permeates in fandom, my personal rating of Flash villains, sex post, list of least favourite ants organised by size, and now here's a reminder of how to safely bake cookie dough and not get salmonella nor e coli. And I'll be like hell yeah, here's a rant about classism linked with psychophobia in dc, my personal rating of green arrow trick arrows, sex post, list of dsm-5 criteria for a disorder, and now here's a reminder that you can salvage the completely burnt bottoms of pots pans you thought you could never use again after a kitchen disaster by repeatedly treating them with boiling hot water. (Idk if it's safe, but you can do it.) Friendly reminder to wait until the water has cooled down before using a sponge to rub the partially detached burnt food off of the pan between treatment, and that hot metal also burns. Green Arrow's trick arrows are so incredibly funny, what the fuck is the difference between independence day arrow and normal firework arrow. Why do you randomly carry the wedding arrow around. Imagine Mia reaching for the wrong arrow and the villain of the week is showered in wedding rice and they just look at eachother like um. What.
