DreadPlatonic

A coining/flag post

DreadPlatonic: An identity in which one feels platonic attraction/bonds/love, but when they do, it fills them with feelings of dread and/or great anxiety. This may be due to neurodivergence, social anxiety, personality disorders, or anything else / nothing at all! Someone who is DreadPlatonic may identify as aplatonic or alloplatonic or neither, depending on their experience.

Flag: A recolour of the dreadsexual flag using the colours of the aplatonic flag. One with the storm cloud and one without.

for anon! the flag is based on the densexual and denromantic flags, with dark grey representing attraction fading when the individuals interact, purple representing not interacting with each other, and blue representing interacting with each other. i added a shade of yellow to represent platonic attraction.

Requisplatonic / Requiesplatonic : Being aplspec due to emotional exhaustion.

Bliskoplatonic

Bliskoplatonic: Only feeling platonic attraction when directly interacting with someone; said interaction can include texting, being near someone physically, playing a game together, etc.

Vitrumplatonic

Vitrumplatonic: Feeling disconnected or separated from one's platonic attraction. One may feel like they're viewing their platonic attraction through a glass wall.

Feaseplatonic

Feaseplatonic: A frayplatonic term for those whose platonic attraction turns into hate or disgust when acted upon.

Alt. Poison Apl ( Aplatonic ) flag and symbol

The first two flags are my sensory-friendly edit of the original Poison Apl flag with my Poison Apl symbol and the second two flags are my alternative Poison Apl flag with the same symbol.

My version of the Poison Apl symbol uses colors found in multiple Aplatonic / Aplspec flags. I kept the apple shape from the original Poison Apl flag ( because apples are a popular Apl symbol ) as well!

The placement of the colors is more for contrast than anything but I did want to include blue prominently because that's one of the most significant colors to me ( as an Aplatonic person ) and because it just looks great.

I added a skull symbol to riff off of the "poison apple" theme, many poisoned apples in fantasy having some kind of skull or death symbol on them.

The alternative flag adds a cream stripe ( taken from other Aplspec flags ) to add contrast to the middle stripe. I wanted it to really "pop out" at the viewer because it's my favorite part of the OG flag.

Here are the plain symbols for use wherever. In order these are the centered symbol and the smaller left corner symbol:

In fact, total break from the usual focus of my content lol no narcissism at all (though I’m still using some of the tags for the sake of reach. I’ve noticed a nice little overlap between aplatonicism and npd/npd traits, lmao)

Today—ironically by request of my friends—I felt like making a new/alternate design for the aplatonic flag because I’ve never liked the standard one very much. I wasn’t fond of the colours, which is fine, but the meanings also rubbed me the wrong way? Take a look at what I mean:

It just feels weird to me to design it based around what we aren’t, as well as how we can “make up” for our aplatonicism, so to speak. I don’t think that was the intention. but I dislike it all the same.

Anyway, here’s my own design:

Meanings:

Pink & green - friending and nonfriending aplatonics, placed next to each other to show solidarity

White - joy in one’s aplatonic identity; mirrors the white stripe on many aspec flags

Grey - greyplatonics and demiplatonics, like on other aspec flags

Black - finishes the white-grey-black gradient present in other aspec flags; represents aspec community and aplatonicism as a whole :3

Just some alt a-spec flags c:

I made these a while ago but never posted them.

The first 2 flag formats are based off of these analt-spec and anae-spec flags. Except using light orange for asen-spec, and yellow for apl-spec. There are other nice flags for them already, but I like it when things match, so I made these to go with the analt and anae -spec flags in the same format. You can just use whichever you prefer.

For aqp-spec, I do like my teal aqp-spec flag a lot, but I also see a lot of people use yellow+pink for aqp flags (like with microlabels for example), so I thought I should make a yellow+pink version too for those who want it. Again, there already exist other yellow+pink aqp-spec flags, but I wanted one that matched the other a-spec flags more (ace-spec, aro-spec, and apl-spec examples). The yellow and pink colours come from the aqp flag, and put into a gradient format to represent the spectrum part of the identity.

Platonic Non-conforming

An umbrella term for friendships (and other similar relationships) and people that don't conform to the typical societal expectations of friendships.

Platonic Non-conforming may include:

Friends who are openly affectionate

Aplatonic people

People on the aplatonic spectrum

Friends who are mistaken for lovers

Exes who are still friends

Friends who kiss or cuddle

And more!

However platonic non-conforming is a self given label, and even if you fit the description here, you don't have to identify with this label.

Demigrayplatonic: an identity where one experiences platonic attraction, but only rarely and even then they must be very close to the person to feel any strong platonic (friendship) feelings, love and/or attraction.

Flag: the grayplatonic flag with the common triangle representing demi!
