another headcannon where bruce wayne keeps a collection of secret "dad journals." they start off as grim, meticulous logs about patrols, mission details, and crime patterns in gotham. over time, they shift into something way more personal — pure dad energy.

instead of just documenting cases, bruce starts writing down random thoughts about his kids:

"dick executed a flawless takedown tonight. the boy never stops smiling. proud."

"jason’s instincts continue to sharpen. he found three exits before i spotted one. i hope he knows how valuable that is."

"tim solved a case faster than the computer. he needs to remember sleep is not optional."

"damian did not decapitate anyone this week. progress."

eventually, jason finds the journals — because of course jason finds everything — and the batfam collectively loses it.

one journal has a full-page entry about cass: "her grace in combat is unmatched. she reminds me of martha, strong and silent but full of heart."

there’s even an entry in alfred’s handwriting, after bruce insisted he contribute:

"master bruce is absurdly sentimental but would rather face ten jokers than admit it."

dick demands group readings during family nights, complete with dramatic voices. jason tries to keep a straight face and fails every time. damian storms off muttering about "weak emotions."

bruce just grumbles under his breath and keeps writing — like they won’t find the next one too.

Bawling my eyes out at the thought of Dick’s last bit of parting advice for Damian on how to be Bruce’s Robin (before he went back to blud) being “just pretend to fall asleep during a stake out. Trust me”

Of course Damian’s sceptical and it takes him a long time to even THINK about making himself look that vulnerable but his curiosity eventually wins and he pretends to fall asleep during a boring night.

He thought he was prepared for all possibilities but he was not prepared for Bruce to call out his name, sigh softly and scoop him up, not letting go of him even once until they reach his bed (he will never admit it but he actually did end up falling asleep). He was absolutely not prepared for Bruce to take his shoes off, tuck him in and hesitate just a little second before giving him a forehead kiss and leaving the room silently. He ends up actually falling asleep on the very next week

my random hc of the day is that Damian inherited Bruce’s nose but no one ever recognizes it because only like two people (Talia and Alfred, maybe Minkhoa) knew what Bruce’s real nose looked like before he proceeded to break it no less than four times in a row during training, was forced to get a reconstructive rhinoplasty when he came back to Gotham, and called version 5.4 of his nose “close enough”
