There are very few props I’ve coveted more than Rio’s dagger. From the few clear photos that exist of it, it looked like an absolute nightmare to build—so naturally I knew I had to make one 😂

3D modelled, resin printed and painted by yours truly.

The stand is inspired by one of the infinity symbols that can be found on all of Rio’s costumes.

The Book of Vanitas!! ⌛️

I recently made this and had so much fun doing it! It's a 3D-printed Book of Vanitas! I got the print file off of Etsy! I actually made this for my dear friend, @bookdragonwrites!

I was a little skeptical when I started painting, I really thought I messed up because of how weird the blue paint came out. But, I realized it was just the type of spray paint I got. Haha.

Doesn't that blue paint look good??? The construction was fun! I originally bought little gems to replace the 3D-printed one, but I ended up using it anyway and painted the little design on it myself. :)

I actually used skewers for the hinges 😂 I didn't trust the filament to be strong enough! I think I did good. I also used it to attach the swinging part to the Book!

so i spent the better part of the year making my own action figures. rendered in blender. made their little wigs like u would a doll wig cap. except so so tiny.

(UPDATE: It appears that shipping is being limited to some countries due to it being listed as a ‘dagger’ so I’ve also added them to my own website shop)

They are limited but if there continues to be interest in them, I’ll do my best to keep some in stock.

For anyone curious about the process, here’s a look at how they are made under the cut.

An example of the resin pieces. They’re printed in a flexible resin mixture for added strength. They are still quite rigid; the mixture adds just enough flexibility to protect the blade from possible chipping damage.

I usually specialize in screen-accurate Star Wars props, and from years of doing research, I’ve found that almost anything meant to look like metal in movies and TV shows is created using the same process and type of paint (especially more recent media). I’m assuming Rio’s dagger(s) are no different so I also went with the standard painting process.

I paint the gold bands first before moving onto the leaves. Both have to be done by hand due to the intricate design. Beautiful to look at, absolutely nerve wracking to paint lol

After that, a bit of weathering is added to give it a realistic, lived in look.

This is a project I spend most of January on - The Drifter!!!

Same as with Elster I decided to use Dummy13 as base and edit some models to create a figure of my fav doomed guy!

I just didn't expect it would take me so much time >.> honestly, at some point I started to feel like this project was cursed (Drifter, bud, is your sickness spreading into real world now?) with amount of trouble w models and failed prints I had... But now he's done!!

I gotta say, some ~Stylistic Choices~ were made to match dummy design with Drifter's canon look, and account for what materials were available to me (that's why color pallete is limited and slightly darker than I wanted)

Anyway, sources: Dummy13 v1.0 | Dummy accessories (used weapons handles) | Smooth skin (used head and calf) | Blank chest | Trigger finger hand | Helmet | Drifter figure (used arm guard and gun) | Brawlout model (used gems, sword and boot booster) | Belt buckle | Droid companion

Mods I made: - resized/edited some original dummy parts (had problems w fitting here and there), used shorter neck & shorter abdomen armor again - edited helmet for tiny print - added connection for visor, added bigger gems - added cutouts for eyes - added connection for head+helmet - edited gem for tiny print - edited arm guard for dummy elbow connection - edited gun and sword for dummy hands - edited shin and feet to resemble boots - edited booster for snap-together connection - edited droid for tiny print, changed proportions - resized belt buckle

As for outfit: skirt is simple trapeze with ribbon belt and stencil painted pattern; cape is three layers of washed cotton fabric with unraveled edges
