@elodieunderglass Things with horrible legs?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The base of a table with lion paws and heads. The top was probably made of wood and decayed over time. The inscription bears the name of the original owner whom archaeologists identify as Publius Servilius Casca Longus, the first of Caesar's assassins to strike him. Casca died in the Battle of Phillipi and his property was auctioned off by Octavian which is how the table ended up in a luxurious villa in Pompeii. It might also have been considered a historical curiosity at that time, just as it is now.

@elodieunderglass I think you would appreciate this 3D printing project I found for adding legs to an IKEA Lämplig. More images and source files are on Thingiverse, so if you have access to a 3D printer you can make them yourself!

Patent Model - Improvement in Boats for Duck-Shooting, made by Robert Bogle, 1857, in the collection of the Hagley Museum (@hagleyvault) of Wilmington, DE.
Bogle's patent was an improvement to "a low floating boat or battery for trailing and shooting duck and other water-fowl, in which the gunner is secreted, as well as the boat, and protected from the surrounding water, while he can propel the boat toward the game by his feet and legs…" (Patent number: 17,192)

My sister's preschooler realized today that the build-it dinosaurs and vehicles use the same screw.
My sister's preschooler now has a walking train.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[images: both sides of a train engine toy assembled using big screws for small hands; in place of its wheels are four legs from at least three different dinosaur toys.]
(photos shared with the young engineer's mom's permission)
Everyone look at the walking train! @alexseanchai please direct my wholehearted praise for the walking train to the family of the young engineer.

At least three times this week I have seen one of your posts reblogged by someone else I follow on my dash, thought “oh that is an EXCELLENT post I need to go follow OP,” and then realized that you are the OP and I already follow you! Huzzah!
As thanks for your many fantastic posts, please accept this offering of a horrible thing with feet, except it’s not really, because it’s just a terra-cotta foot.
I found out later, after buying it at the thrift store, that it is actually a plant pot riser. Its function is that you use several of them to put underneath a plant pot to raise it off the ground. A single one, like this, is completely useless, as you can’t balance a large pot on just one.
Which explains why several others were on the shelf alongside it, and also explains why the sales person gave me the strangest look when I went up to the register to buy just a single one.
I was puzzled by her confusion, but not nearly as puzzled as she must have been by my purchase of one (1) singular plant riser in the shape of a human foot.

A polymer teapot someone made. Horrible thing with...finger legs?
I’ve kept this in my inbox because it amuses me to keep looking at it but the time has come to release it to the world. Interestingly I did see this very early on when the person posted it on Reddit (I’ve since lost the post entirely) but you were faster, indicating that the tumblr mutual algorithm is both faster and more targeted than whatever slave labor AI Reddit uses to push content in front of your face. Good job!!! You are so superior to AI in every way

not furniture but after my grandma died we were cleaning out her house and found this bottle opener made out of a kangaroo arm.
Tumblr media
Not furniture, not #horrible things with legs, but definitely shouldn’t be forgotten. What a worthy item, thank you so much. I’m amazed at how it really is just a kangaroo arm bottle opener
