When someone else’s art is so good you physically can’t look at it because of artistic jealousy

#Y’all do this to me on a daily basis I swear #I literally can’t follow some people because their stuff is so good it breaks my heart #I think the art world has a lot of envy and competitiveness that no one really talks about #Sure we’re all for self expression but so many of us are so used to being “the art kid” that anyone else taking or sharing that spot feels #like losing a peice of your identity.#I’ve had some artist friends who dealt with their jealousy by tearing others down or justifying their art by going #”Well you’re bad at ____ but I’m better at ____”#Or they would give unsolicited critique that was more like gently worded criticism than friendly advice to help someone reach their goals #And because of those experiences… I never want to become that person #I definitely get the surges of jealousy… But I very much try to remind myself that fellow artists are my friends-not my rivals #The people I feel the most envy for are often the people I hype up the most #And beyond that- nobody in the art community is trying to gatekeep information from you.#If you want to learn skills from other people- don’t hesitate to ask them. I will say I’m a little confused how shallan, renarin and rlain working on ba ado mishram is seemingly a separate plot to navani and dalinar looking for something in the spiritual realm. When the preview chapters already revealed that ba ado mishram is in the spiritual realm. I totally thought it would be Shallan going there

Tho I guess that could just be them trying write the blurb non spoilery and they’re just doing different things for similar goals.

i did it. i ordered my jacket 🥹

i’ve been completely lost in my excitement for this for like a minute. it’s gonna be so great. i can’t fucking wait dudes.

it’s like. the nicest gift i’ve ever given myself i think. and i think it’ll last for like forever which is fucking great (the sleeves and hood are leather and the body is wool and it has a zip out liner and everything).

this is the culmination of like a year long fixation starting when i realized i’d gained too much weight to fit into my favorite denim jacket that served as like my Identities Billboard for years. i mourned that jacket all spring and all summer and all fall. and then it got cold and i realized few of my winter jackets even fit anymore. i kept trying to find like good winter coats that felt like Me but nothing did. BUT I FOUND THIS CUSTOM VARSITY JACKET SITE and it was all over for me. i got locked on that shit. couldn’t stop thinking about it. AND NOW ITS HAPPENING. I BIT THE BULLET. I SAVED UP THE MONEY AND PULLED THE TRIGGER LETS GOOOOOOOOO

(this was just the additional specs sheet i sent with the order to assure my wants were understood by the design team. and they responded and were so nice. which really just makes me all the more excited for it)

Spoilers for Barbie ahead, I guess. But who in the writer’s room looked at that plot line and thought, “Yes. Feminism.” ??

The citizens of Barbie Land spend the entire movie fighting for privilege, not any sort of freedom (I borrowed that quote from the interview with Alok on the Man Enough Podcast 10/10 recommend). Over half the movie is about how awful it is to be a woman in the real world, and then they literally treat the Kens the way women are treated in the real world. That’s canon. The narrator says it Herself.

We never learn where the Kens live. For all we know, when the precious status quo was restored at the end, they just made half the population of Barbie Land homeless.

Yay, girl power.

#when I heard people complaining about how this movie was anti-man I snatched my ticket and said yeah I sure hope it does like everyone else #but I did not feel empowered in the slightest by that movie #where was supportive stay at home dad vibe Ryan Gosling Ken??#I was fully convinced by the trailers and the hype #like #I was fully convinced he was going to have Barbie’s back 110% and let her live her dreams while knowing that he was enough as he was #but I didn’t taste a drop of respect women juice #not at the beginning and not at the end #and they kept. bringing. up. how. dude crochet is truly a craft that gives you so much hubris. like i was fully fully convinced I could crochet an entire hat (without a pattern btw. I just thought 'hey this looks like it might work' and decided to give it a go) within less than an hour. it's now 2am and needless to say I have not fully completed the hat i’m making up on the spot

#I do think this is a good idea #because the pattern i’m making up on the spot seems to avoid all the problems I have with most hats whilst also functioning very well as a #hat for keeping me warm #cause it's autumn and england is englanding like immediately it's foggy as fuck over here #which I am hype about cause usually it's difficult for me to keep track of the months if the weather is off #last year we had two heatwaves in september and october so GKFDH I will gladly take fog #anyway I wanna make a pumpkin hat and a frog hat in the same format #and fuck knows if i'm actually gonna finish either #but if I do I think i'll use them both a lot #cause I get painfully cold ears but I hate wearing tight hats #and the thing I figured out seems to cover my ears without being super tight?#we shall see #anyway I should go to bed but I think i’m just gonna keep goin HLFHDK #wren wrambles #crochet
