some of my favorite beetlejuice (1989-1991) frames
#The backgrounds in this show really are something to behold#especially the strong use of color that gives of that otherworldly vibe#and the strange architecture and gravity defying nature of it allā you can probably thank Burtonās influence from German Expressionism#Also I didnāt notice the utter difference in the level of detail between the afterlife and Peaceful Pines#In scenes like Lydiaās room or her schoolā everything is completely flat with little to no shading#It looks much cheaper and has no depth to it#Yet in the Neitherworld everything is extremely rendered and has all kinds of gradients and environmental storytelling#The show itself isnāt deep and is very cheesyā but when you pick it apart there is so much balance and thought that is so respectable#And the art itself has always been sincerely impressive to meā particularly the level of detail in the supernatural elements
