if you were going to rate transformer synergize like a TV show or video game rating what would it be rated?
Well, with a comic rating, it probably be a T+ or 15+. I guess if you want a game or TV rating, it would be a T or TV14,
There is definitely some violence mostly towards robots, but humans/non-robot characters can get hurt as well. There's also some techno-organic Body Horror, and the insecticons are techno-organic so when they get hurt it's a little more than wires and broken metal, but Transformers comics are usually pretty violent in general, so idk if synergized would be about average, or maybe even less violent than your average tf comic, but it definitely would be less graphic mostly due to the art style.
Their occasional profanity, it’s mostly leaser swears like damn, crap, hell, or Transformers substitutes like scrap and frag. But if I feel the scene calls it, or it makes sense for a character to say you may find a rare fuck or shit.
There may sometimes be suggestive jokes, dialog, or implications, but nothing sexually explicit happens on page or is talked about in detail.
#idk if i really had a target audience in mind since this is just kinda my crazy weird passion project#if i had to say what my taget audience is it prob be young adults like 18 to 26yo#thats were im at in my life and its also the age rage of the main main humans characters and mentally were a lot of the bots are sorta at#transformers fan continuity#transformers#tfs#transformers synergize#ask answering#text post

If you brag about avoiding the comics/only watching the animated stuff and movies...just block me because I don't want you interacting with my page atp. If you haven't even read the most BASIC comics to understand a character then I just don't think you do and I don't trust anything you have to say.
"but in the animated universe-" don't care didn't ask. "Well I try to avoid the comics-" you don't even know what you're talking about. Genuinely you don't even have a leg in the race. This is a COMICS blog the discussion doesn't include you.
#So many of you...#look guys I get it#Tom Taylor and Tom King are in there fucking everything up#we're still recovering from zdarsky and the effefts of Lobdell and d*vin Gr*yson may never leave us#but you can not swear off reading all comics#you can not call yourself a fan of a character whose introduction comic you haven't read#if you tell me that you've only watched the utrh movie I don't want to talk to you#you have nothing of value to say#“well in the animated series Bruce wouldn't have-”#that was shown to children and thus had a lot of limits on what could and couldn't be shown#the Batman that exists in adult contexts is a different character#also gonna make a post about those fucking morons who “don't want politics involved in comics”#too many of them in the fandom#pissing me off#dc#general#comics

the real reason public safety doesn't pay for denji to get a therapist is because then he'd realize half the fuckin people they send to him are freaks who shouldn't be allowed within 20ft of a school.

El Higgins and Discworld comparisons
So I've seen a couple of comparisons between El and Tiffany, and to an extent I guess I agree - they're both young female YA-ish protags who are passionate about injustice. However, I'm not convinced that El really does weaponise her selfishness into a virtue the way Tiffany does - El (at least where I'm up to) is more about being crankily selfless despite her better judgement.
Which Discworld character does that remind me of a lot more than TIffany? Prickly? Aggressively practical? Expresses concern and affection via tough love? Tall, attractive in a scary way, with a death glare that could melt steel? Perhaps a tad arrogant about her own raw ability, or at least, not precisely humble? An unreliable narrator convinced that other people hang out with her only for whatuse she is to them, and continually surprised when someone wants her for who she is? Constantly battling not to take the easy path of becoming a monster, arguably despite a world determined to paint her that way? Has a himbo boyfriend she keeps trying to push away?
Am I describing El, or Granny Weatherwax?
(PLEASE no spoilers beyond the middle of book 2/Field Day, I am aware that the boyfriend situation has different outcomes in the two cases but it's still a parallel IMO.)
#el higgins#esme weatherwax#granny weatherwax#discworld#the scholomance#scholomance#galadriel higgins#via shitposts#i'm a long-time DW fan and just reading Scholomance now#i don't think El raelly is much like tiffany at all#tiffany is a bit of a cipher to me tbh#a lot of her attributes ar emore told than shown IMO and she doesn't have all that much character development#might be bc Pterry's YA voice doesn't work quite as well for me as his adult-novels voice#dont get me wrong the tiffany books are very fun and i enjoy them and i think they talk about some important things#however im sorry but all of you comparing el and tiff are wrong#el's character growth so far is what you'd get if you had granny's arcs in witches abroad+lords&ladies+carpe jugulum#all happening at the same time and quite a bit more besides

That post about huge red flags from exes is going around and I’m like well mine requires some background reading
#xrdslog#um basically. made a bet they could convince me to kiss them and constantly hinted at it until it happened and then bragged about it a lot#then I told them I was aro#then we got a headmate that they had a crush on and started dating#and then used that to argue that I should date them bc it’s easier if it’s both of us#and then prioritized me over him#also: this headmate is one I have a father and son relationship with#so what the hell#also told me they fixated on people and they still loved me but they were fixated on their friend so couldn’t give me attention#their friend who they called their not-girlfriend. because that friend’s husband wasn’t comfortable with her being poly#and they still wanted to date her so they just called her that instead#gifted me an expensive adult toy and then took it and gave it to said not girlfriend#which. ok sure. but then why tell me it was a gift#demanded to talk to certain headmates and made a big fuss about knowing exactly who did what even though they were rarely correct#pushed me away whenever they were sad and then was upset I wasn’t comforting them#I baked banana bread once on a whim and then they constantly made me make it for them when I didn’t want to#NEEDED music playing at night and fans on them and they got upset if I didn’t want to sleep by them even though I couldn’t#‘pretended’ to choke me when I got a rare item in final fantasy before them#wanted to rp with me but demanded I start it because they were tired of starting rps with their friend. ok. not my fault ?#more than once tried to get me to sign a lease with them even though I had no money or job#got mad at me because my art was good? and they didn’t think theirs was or that they were creative?#did not ever compliment me without an insult attached for the last three years of our relationship#constantly tried to talk about sex or illegal things in front of my mom#constantly bragged about how they were going to become rich when their grandma died and hoped it happened soon#The Entire Trauma Part where they barely comforted me at all#oh also I spent basically sixteen hours a day in VC with them every day and they broke up with me for not spending enough time with them#even though I could not Possibly have spent More time with them#there is more than this. but this is off the top of my head. lol.

alhaitham is such a lying liar who lies dude. acting like he and the sumeru boys gang have always been besties since forever. "that's how it's always been with the four of us" - man who has barely spoken to most of these people before he decided to team up with them to overthrow the government and regularly skips social gatherings with them. yeah right buddy ok
#explicitly said that he's barely spoken to cyno before when they clash in the archon quest#will literally just skip or show up late when they do meet up#very notably had a huge falling out with kaveh that ended with them not speaking for years#does he even talk to tighnari?? like one on one???? do they hang out????#i stg kaveh and tighnari are the glue holding the whole situation together#the other 2 are just off to the side being autistic#well cyno actually tries to be social alhaitham doesnt give a fuck lmao#alhaitham after speaking to people that do not annoy him about once a month: 'hmm. i love my best friends'#he adopted a status quo and now simply pretends there has never been a different one#hes so fucking funny#genshin fans who try to make him some kind of big dick sexyman you are so wrong hes a silly goofy clown to me#on a more serious note i do actually much prefer the interpretation of this being a friendship they formed as adults#and everyone involved has different levels of closeness with each other#rather than making them all mutual best friends with each other (even since school sometimes). i think thats a lot more interesting#and canon is weirdly ambiguous about it so shrug#like the current friend groups as it is seems to be a relatively recent formation based on canon bits but then the writers lean into it#so hard as their Thing its a bit odd. but also fun to play with. they dont need to have always been friends to be close

I gotta get up for work rn but the original tweet………….. they’ve got to be joking at this point because while they are correct in some instances, they must’ve chosen some of the worst examples imaginable… Also, Why is Shigeki in the same category as Joshu and Alessi knowing how they are… he was just a greedy, fat kid. The others were literal creeps.
#joshu is a creep and has canonically tried to SA Yasuho on multiple occasions even in public bro#I never understood why he has such dedicated fans#and alessi at least from what I’m remembering got off on abusing children??? like that was his whole thing???#wasn’t his stands ability to deage characters simply so that it’ll be easier to defeat them because of children being weaker than adults….#he had shooters out here too I had to see them all of the time on pixiv#back when I used to go through the jjba tag a lot when I was super hardcore into it#still love it of course! I need to catch up with jojolands#no matter how gross they are every awful jojo character has their own fanbase man#there’s probably mfs out there who love Angelo#rambling

What are the humans like in wayward sparks? Are there any notable ones?
They're not necessarily as prominent in the story as they tend to be in any canon series that includes them, but they're definitely there. The bots spend the first arc just trying to survive on earth until they find a way home, and they have quite a few run ins with the locals. Most of which are relatively unhinged, many of which are not very friendly, because they crash in an itty bitty, rural new england mountain town called Ironwood, wayyyyy out in the sticks. Most residents aren't particularly afraid to fire at will when giant robot aliens decide to show up.
Least alien-friendly would be Rusty Williams, a local logger with one hell of a trigger finger for anyone and anything on his property he sees as a threat. Aliens, government agents asking a few too many questions, cops, whatever. All of them only get one warning.
Fortunately for the stranded Cybertronians, gunshots aren't really fatal or even particularly damaging long-term for giant robots that can put themselves back together if they sustain enough damage to fall to pieces. Unfortunately, they still do enough damage to tear through their outer armor layers and that tends to hurt like a bitch.
In the very least, there are plenty of humans around with their heads screwed on right that won't try to blast anything that looks at them funny. Like Rusty's Daughter, Crystal.
That said, Crystal is an elusive type. A middle schooler Going Through It, trying REALLY hard to be edgy so people stay away (hence the $2 Spirit Halloween horns headband), she'd really prefer to spend her free time hiding in the woods where nobody can perceive her. Thats been a little more difficult ever since a bunch of giant robots started stomping around out there and all they know about her is her dad is super cringe, so she's pretty scared of a bad first imprsssion.
She'd be lying if she said she didn't want to be friends with them (which she does lie about frequently because ew, genuine feelings), especially the Decepticons, because she thinks they're cooler, but she also knows her dad would flip his lid if he knew.
Also interested in approaching the Resident Aliens, is Marie Lambert.
Marie's only just recently moved into Ironwood. It's been a rocky transition to say the least. Her dad's a biologist, a real science-y type, and he moved out to the boonies to be closer to the wildlife. Marie's plenty used to being out in the sticks, camping trips with her dad were a regular occurrence before the move, but it's a little hard to get used to the new place when there aren't very many kids her age around. And the ones that are there aren't exactly very welcoming to flatlanders showing up taking over the place.
But in the very least, Marie makes ONE friend when she finds Crystal out in the woods. And a few more when they find what the adult residents of Ironwood have been telling them to stay the hell away from.
They don't approach them straightaway (mostly because their first encounter consists of watching Shockwave scare away Bumblebee, and Shockwave skulking off when he realizes he spooked the Autobot), but the next day at school they start Planning. They HAVE to know more about the robots, and they're willing to pool their resources and information to make that happen. They figure if there's two sides and they don't play nice with each other, it's easiest for one girl to pick one side and they tell each other whatever they can find out.
This begins several beautiful friendships
Marie chooses to gather info on the Autobots. Mostly because, well, they seem less scary and potentially friendlier. She tries the polite thing (which she's hoping will result in the least possible chance for things to go off the rails) and knocks right on their door. The bots aren't really sure how to respond to a very small, very shy alien critter that showed up right at their door to ask what they are and if she can hang out. Marie isn't sure if any of this was a good idea.
They turn out to be pretty welcoming, especially because organics that aren't actively shooting at them are a nice change of pace.
She gets especially close with Bumblebee. Hes comforting. Makes her feel like everything's going to be okay. She gets pretty anxious, and he's good at keeping her grounded. So far, anyway...
On Crystal's side, it's been... Well, it's been different.
The cons would not admit it on their deathbeds but good lord did Crystal scare the slag out of them when they first realized she was there. She snuck right on aboard their crashed ship and nobody noticed her for about 15 minutes.
After the initial scare, and a bunch of big bad giant robots scrambling around because there is a Tiny Squishy Critter in their Space and they do NOT know what to do about that, Crystal starts in trying to get answers. Answers most of the cons aren't particularly willing to give out (other than Shockwave, who is just very excited at the opportunity to make a new friend).
Megatron eventually deems her more or less harmless. She isn't really causing problems or hurting anyone, she doesn't appear to be hostile (other than hissing at Lugnut when he got too close), and he can't really fault the little gremlin for her curiosity. An ally in a foreign world can be very very valuable when you're stranded, so he lets her stay, "as long as she doesn't get in the way."
Marie and Crystal meet up at school during lunch to share notes. It gets confusing trying to keep track of everything when the two sides give conflicting information so often. The girls try to keep an open mind. Hard to remember things about someone you don't like, but they can't really figure out which version is true for any given story, but they're hoping if they spend enough time with their robot friends, they'll figure it out together.
Maybe they can even help the bots and the cons make up. It's just a silly fight, after all.
It's not like anyone's going to get hurt, right? They're all good people.
#if im depicting roughly-vermont its getting the weird vermont brand of xenophobia happening for accuracy#the hicks out here dont just dislike city slickers. they just straight up dont like anyone from out of state.#and they REALLY dont like canadians#flatlanders is the term for out of state folks btw. don't worry i am NOT out here making up racial slurs#maccadam#transformers#wayward sparks#fan au#Rusty is a fucking menace#Crystal is 100% going to experience the weird little girl to weird adult man pipeline#Marie is Cautious but she cannot resist the thrall of Making Friends with Cool Robots#god im sorry this took so long i had to draw a lot of things#oh and that last sentence is Super Ominous on purpose ;)#have fun thinking about those implicationssssssss

Ok I don’t really get why people like this bluey show, isn’t it just like. A show for little kids. I’m genuinely asking what makes it more enjoyable than other stuff
I can't say for everyone, honestly, but I can give you why I personally love the show.
I grew up in.... a less than stellar home. Concerns brought to parents weren't taken seriously and emotions on my end were treated as invalid because my parents were only seeing from their adult perspective. Add on the fact that I was growing up in a religion that would leave me with intense trauma later. As I grow up I see more and more of my friends with these turbulent relationships with their parents. We as children were doing our best to understand our parents, but weren't being given that same respect back. It was really disheartening for a kid, realizing that your parents don't actually care about your perspective. It was a lot of screaming fights throughout my teenage years, trying desperately to make them see what I was seeing. They never did. I moved out at 18 to escape from it.
My best friend has had a much worse lot in life. A lot of intense abuse that I'm really not going to go into. What matters is we bonded over the fact that we felt completely invalidated in our homes and took it upon ourselves to be an escape for each other.
Enter: Bluey. This kid's show I was seeing clips of all over the internet. In these clips I saw parents that listened, kids that were happy and validated. A tight-knit family group that always cared about every perspective. A kick-ass mom and dad who made it a point to play along with their kids' goofiness. I saw proper connection. Most other kids shows don't portray this. Parents are often portrayed as the final authority figures, in Bluey they're people. They make mistakes that hurt their kids and then they make up for it. That's the point of the whole show. Whenever my best friend comes over to my apartment we sit down and watch episodes of Bluey. I've had some of them genuinely make me cry because I was watching an experience I was never able to have and it moved me so much.
That's why I like Bluey.
#sorry for it being so long#this is just a thing I feel strongly about#when you cry watching a kid's show because you're mourning the childhood you never had you end up thinking about it a lot#Bluey#I guess I should have a tag for that#I don't plan to make Bluey art or anything and I'm aware the fans are.... interesting but the show is a real gem for traumatized adults#like me

#unrebloggable because i dont want anybody who sees this to do so without knowing that i fucking hated dj at the time#largely bc the fan content was uh. i don't want to say bad but it was deeply uninteresting. but in the comic on the other hand?#i actually found the resulting conflict interesting and seeing two human characters have to reckon with if being mlm would change how#their friends perceived and treated them was literally the best and most grounded and most validating portrayal of what it was like to be a#queer teenager that i had ever seen. it meant a lot to me#but that wasn't really the same as shipping it#which i very much do now as an adult#teen me would hate myself but its okay me i got older and gayer and came back to this comic with a bunch of mental illnesses you're welcome#i'm not dissing rosmary btw i fucking loved it as a teenager. so much. it just didn't have the same reckoning with the reality of queerness#i was obsessed with rose as a teen. i wish i could go back. now i like her deranged gay dad instead

man speaking of connverse fankids i really do need to like. draw them eventually. they're relevant in my post canon OC riddled storyline, and all lmao. i even have names picked out for them already
Jason Quinn, Aanya, and Riya
Jason's the firstborn- they both choose the first name, and the middle name was Steven's idea. At first he was envisioning like... starting a 'Q' middle name tradition, but then in practice he and Connie both realized what a mouthful this kiddo's name is with their last names hyphenated, and. Because of that, the next kids don't have middle names at all.
Aanya and Riya, identical twins, come next- and are named after distant family members on Connie's side.
I like to imagine Jason as the very ordinary, straight laced one who ultimately grows up to have the most Ordinary Human life ever. Like. He ends up being an architect, or whatever. Idk. (There's some Internal Conflict with him, re: being the absolutely ordinary kid of two very extraordinary parents, I might delve into later, though.)
Whereas Aanya and Riya both end up pressing more towards the extraterrestrial aspects of their heritage, in various ways. Aanya ends up doing engineering work for humanity's leading space agency, and Riya is the pioneering researcher on the theoretics of post-gestation human-Gem hybridization.
#it probably says a lot about me that i Don't in fact want to think too much about fan kids As Kids#and instead am 'heRE'S WHAT FIELDS THEY GO INTO AS ADULTS'#but i do for sure know that in my heart aanya and riya were chaos agents as kids#and that there was probably once an incident where they stranded themselves on an alien planet with a warp whistle and#steven and all their aunties (the gems) had to go on high alert trying to find them#whoops!!#and i have defo decided that jason is a skateboarder#pretty damn good in fact#jen rambles#anyways!!! this is the indulgent jen headcanon night please enjoy your stay#or don't ufjkshdbnfjhg this is all personal hc#take it as one will

i'm glad of my time in the danmei fandom, there are some i still want to read since they're now being published as complete translations, and my favourite blorbo/his main ship will be important to me for my whole life probably. but i cannot in good conscience recommend the fandom to anyone... oh my god. it was the WORST!!! i don't think i've ever seen more discourse in my life, and the thing is, it's still going. character hate and people mistaking mild criticism for hate. the exact same people having virulent top/bottom discourse like, 4-5 years ago are still doing it. someone made a joke about a character being unhygienic bc they were a forever teenager and instead of ignoring it the fans chased them off twitter. people shipping a main character with a side character and getting harassed for disrespecting the author.... screaming. terminally online fandom.
#i was pretty annoying in danmei fandom bc most people were but omg. i was not at this level#and also to still be having the exact same arguments that were rehashed every few months. FIVE YEARS LATER????#i do believe that most danmei fans are like reasonable adults and a lot of the art and fic is amazing... but the loudest people are very#much No Fun At All#you say you've had it hard... try being a shen jiu stan in 2020-2022 danmei fandom
