Thinking about writing a Superbat Soulmate AU set into the Snyderverse.

First of all, rules for Earthlings and Kryptonians are different, because we don't want to makes things easy, don't we?

For Earthlings, your soulmate name is a kind of tattoo that appears over your heart when you come of age, that depicts your soulmate name.

For Kryptonians, they go with the 'see all in b&w until I touch my soulmate'.

So, we have poor Bruce that got this weird tattoo with some unknown symbols. He did al lot of research but nothing came out, and eventually he cames to termes with the idea that he's probably destined to not have a soulmate waiting for him.

As for Clark, he knows since he's very young that this is just other one among of the many differences he carries with the humans. And he has resigned since ages at the idea that he will forever see in b&w, because he's somehow convinced that his soulmate could only be a kryptonian like him.

Then of course happens The Interview™. Clark got to shake hands with Bruce Wayne and BOOM! Colors everywhere!

And panic, because how can he explain this weird thing to him without getting away his real identity?!

As for Bruce, it's only when he got inside Zod's wrecked ship and sees the kryptonian symbols that finally gets it. He began to research about krypton culture and biology, and comes to the conclusion that Clark already knows, but he just chose to ignore the fact that they are soulmates.

So they get stuck into this kinda awkward 'I know that you know that I know' situation. Until one day, while tending to a wounded Bruce after a rough mission, Clark spots his tattoo, which at the moment he doesn't even try to hide. ok no i need to bitch because i have remained positive and hopeful throughout most of !!-era because i believed that happyele loved their characters and wouldnt deliberately go out of their way to butcher them but time and time again i have been proven wrong on this fact. and seeing the way theyre doubling down on having ibuki, a ryukyuan kid from okinawa, join a traditional "wa" japanese unit that embraces mainland japan traditions when the mainland has continuously tried to make okinawa theirs and disregard the ryukyuan identity WHILE ALSO LITERALLY HAVING EICHI COLONIZE OKINAWA IN ATLANTIS its all just becoming too much. I am no expert when it comes to these topics so do not take my word when it comes to jp culture, conflict and the likes, but knowing how poorly happyele has continuously time and time again treated their indigenous (or middle eastern in adonis's case) cast i cannot see this going well. even with switch, a rather unpopular unit, theres been total garbage pulled. in switchs case i think its safe to say that akira does genuinely really care for natsume and tsumugis relationship considering thats basically all that man even includes in his switch stories, but he never really knows what to do with sora. And i feel like he doesnt really care. Like sure i can sit here and be like "well at least MY favs seem to be doing alright" but thats purely because they keep spoon-feeding us crumbs of the units popular ships so we wont complain. i still really like their dynamic and i strongly disagree with alot of fans saying natsume and tsumugi have been OOC lately, but like. Look at sora man. i dont mind him having a little gf in the virtual world, i dont mind him growing more independent, i dont mind him relying less on his synesthesia. but the executions are just. Theyre painful. with the synesthesia thing esp bc synesthesia doesnt just go away. You couldve easily made a simple point of "you cant always rely on your synesthesia to know how people feel" because that is TRUE! but that would de-fetishize this idea these people have of synesthesia being some Magical Ability and not just a neurological condition. And with the sora being more independent; this is also something thats been needed for his story! natsume and tsumugi would often coddle him way too much, and sora himself would complain about being treated as a kid. But like. sora has started to feel so disconnected from switch in a way.....? and this has even been a point of conflict in stories, sora not knowing how to partake in ntmgs conversations because theyre too difficult, or being sad that ntmg never have time to hang out with him. But instead of working on these things, they just. keep having sora hang out with people outside of natsume and tsumugi? who have practically become a package deal at this point?? literally having sora join a NEW UNIT without natsume or tsumugi????????? i dont know. im rambling but i just wanted to get this out there. Theyre my specialest guys in the whole entire world and i just want to make people more cautious of thinking "well the aktk thing wouldnt happen to MY fav unit! they wouldnt butcher MY favs!" because they very much can. even if theres an aspect youre still hooked on, other factors are visibly crumbling because management cares only about what will bring the most revenue, and not what is best for the character

i cant help but feel the reason theyre pulling this shit with akatsuki is because they felt as though they somewhat got away with it with Double Face and raked in some extra cash because kohaku ended up popular, so now theyre doing that again but taking it to the next extreme. its disheartening

anyway. i will continue to draw and enjoy ensemble stars. But i wont be supporting them financially anymore as they clearly do not care about fans at all. if i desperately want some merch ill just buy it second-hand. And while im at it, i need you people to stop telling enstarries to get into some other idol franchise instead as if the main problem here isnt how disgustingly predatory they are. Happy Elements were THE biggest joseimuke franchise, making the most money out of all their competitors, and it still wasnt enough. they still didnt respect their fans. when the fans would continuously respect their wishes. not long post-series, Sanji is working on setting up his own restaurant on the All Blue, with the idea that once everything is built and set up he'll leave it under Zeff's management while Sanji continues to travel as a Strawhat - he's still in his prime, not ready to settle down yet, and wants to be with his nakama! so the crew hangs around while he works and/or helps (Franky is the main shipwright for the new restaurant, Robin's helping scout or interview cooks/employees, Nami's helping set the accounting up, etc.).

enter: Pudding - she spent so long under big mom's control, but is finally free to choose how she wants to live... so when she hears Sanji's looking for cooks, she jumps at the opportunity! its a chance to find herself, completely outside of her family's domain, where she isnt shackled by her past! but its also because she knows Sanji is completely genuine and would never hold anything against her... he makes her feel safe. even if he doesn't stay, its ok. like living under the protection of an emperor, she knows shes safe in his restaurant.

and sue her, she knows she doesn't stand a chance with him (the Strawhat's will ALWAYS come first), but she can crush on her own private time!

Sanji is of course surprised at her wanting to work at his restaurant, and after some short deliberation, decides to hire her. she is an absolutely fabulous and skilled chocolatier in her own right, one of the best (something he does know first hand), and look, he's not Zeff - he doesn't need to kick everyone to run his ship, so there's no issue there XD

the other Strawhats are a little shocked or skeptical, but they trust his judgement... however this doesn't stop Nami from moaning to the others about her concerns and Puddings behavior back at WCI.

this makes Zoro, protective nakama and jealous Sanji lover in denial that he is, is every bit the grouchy guard dog around Pudding. he can clearly see she has a thing for the cook, but he doesn’t trust her worth a damn... so he hangs around like to moss that he is, constantly watching her to make sure theres no funny business

what he doesn't expect is for her and the cook to hit it off like old friends. theyre constantly together talking about.... cook things, working on the restaurant, with the other chefs, nailing down a menu plan, hell, she even seems to be getting along with Zeff! yet that old bastard gives Zoro stink-eyes all the damn time (you bleed out on a guys poarch ONE TIME-)!

it drives him up the fucking wall. his only reprieve is that eventually everything will be set up and they'll leave the restaurant and Pudding behind to continue their adventures.

except, slowly, doubt and anxiety starts to build up

what if the cook changes his mind? what if his new found friendship with his former bride reignites something? what if he realizes just how well suited Pudding is for him and decides to marry her for real?!

what if he decides to stay?!

and it actually terrifies Zoro a little. hes not ready to part from him! he thought he had more time to pine silently and bother the cook to his hearts content! thought they would have a thousand more adventures together before the idea of separating would even grace their minds!

eventually it all comes to a head when Sanji finally picks up on the building tensions/Zoro's dislike for Pudding, which leads to them fighting and a very impromptu, accidental confession from Zoro. and likely a fair amount of property damage. oops. sorry Franky.

once Sanji finishes blue-screening and his brain reboots to this new world where holy fuck Zoro LIKE-LIKES him?! hes able to give his own confession in return and clears up Zoro’s concerns - yes, he likes Pudding but not like that, you idiot, and that in reality, he was actually working closely with her because he was going to make her acting head chef alongside Zeff while Sanji was away! afterall, the old geezer is, well, an old geezer! he could use a young hand to help get everyone in line, and Pudding is no push over! she can give just as good as she can take, while staying cool under pressure. all of which, he could have told Zoro if the idiot had just ASKED.

Zoro is too busy riding the high of reciprocated feelings to care about everything else

bonus: Pudding could see how badly Zoro was pining for Sanji, she's connecting the dots, and purposefully acts flirty with Sanji - not to actually get with him, but to make Zoro jealous enough to actually make a damn move already.

"Zionism is what's actually antisemitic" is often used by antizionists, frequently goyishe antizionists, to dismiss any criticism that antizionism has roots in antisemitism.

And this type of rhetoric is extremely harmful to jews because A) it denys the extremely antisemitic and literal Nazi history of antizionism and B) puts antisemitism back onto jews as the perpetrators, we jews are the ones harming ourselves, not those who for decades have oppressed us.

Firstly, antizionism was never about palestinians in its origin. The first antizionists couldn't give two shits about palestinians. They were racist white supremist ethnonationalists who wanted a white Europe. And white supremacy has never considered jews, even Ashkenazi jews white.

The first antizionists were antizionist because jews having our own state, meant that we would continue to live and exist. The only way to rid the world of jews, which was their goal, was to have all of us killed.

The protocols of elder zion is one of the first antizionists texts. It was written in Russia and published in 1905. It detailed a Jewish plot for world domination. It's important to note that during this time and for decades after, that Palestine was considered to be the Jewish homeland by society.

Now this tale of world domination was not at all based in fact. The author, Sergei Nilus, did not have some secret knowledge the rest of the world did not. It was completely fictitious. However the real event which inspired him, was the first zionist meeting. The protocols are fake minutes of the first zionist meeting.

And the protocols were not written with Palestine in mind. It was written because if jews had our own homeland, we would build defenses and prevent the eradication of jews. This differed from other opinion during the time which was supportive of a Jewish state, not because people loved jews, but because it dealt with Europe's "jew problem". Shipping us away was seen as more attractive than letting us live in Europe. Some people did take that to the extreme, and thought that it would be easier to kill all jews if we were in one country, which is where Nilus differed.

But how does all of this relate back to Nazi Germany?

Hitler was very much inspired by the protocols. He thought of them as factual. A lot of nazi era antisemitic propaganda is inspired by it. The protocols are one of the things which influenced Hitler to change his view of a Jewish state. Initially he too thought it would be the solution to rid Europe of its "jew problem". He never supported a Jewish state because he liked jews. He liked the idea as it would be the easiest way to rid Europe of jews. But once reading the protocols, he changed his mind and thought that a Jewish state would make it harder to rid the world of jews. This is also why he planned to have a concentration camp in Palestine, to kill the jews that were living there too.

This is a major part as to why saying that Israel or zionism causes antisemitism is harmful and antisemitic. Because Israel has done what the Nazis and other antisemites feared it would do, and prevent jews from being killed. The major example of this is Israel's operations in Ethiopia where black Ethiopian jews were being subject to the Ethiopian government at the time wanting to and making plans to, eradicate jews in Ethiopia and Israel flew a bunch of helicopters in to take Ethiopian jews to safety in Israel.

The other reason why blaming zionism and Israel for antisemitism is harmful is because it takes the blame away from those who wish to do harm to jews and puts it back onto jews.

The Israeli government doesn't equal all jews. It is not the Israeli governments fault that some peoples logic is missing and make that mental leap. If you cannot separate the two, that is on you. By acting as if the one jewish country is responsible for antisemitism instead of antisemites, you are exusing antisemitism and saying it is okay as long as some jews do a bad thing. Justifying bigotry is never okay.

And I specifically chose to say roots in antisemitism instead of outright calling antizionism antisemitic as there isn't just one solid definition out there. To many goyim where I live, a peaceful two state solution is antizionism, which is considered zionism under the jewish definition. And to other goyim, their definition which is the destruction of Israel, matches up with the Jewish definition. I want this post to hopefully reach those who need to hear it.

Then he attacks his best friend and you take the friend to the hospital. This was not how he expected things to go down. Maybe your crush is secretly into his best friend, maybe he's just platonically jealous. But you don't like that things have gone south so fast, so you show up at your crush's door to talk.

The more you talk, the closer you and he get. He's getting closer, being playful, complimenting you, telling you that he wants to get to know you. The butterflies are in full effect, and you can't help but glance down at his pretty reddish-pink plump lips.

He gets even closer, you joke around, but then he gets serious and tells you he's been trying to get your attention.

Then it all clicks into place. The staring, the nervous stutter, the tour where he could barely take his eyes off you, the basketball game where he also couldn't take his eyes off you.

Your face is stoic, but when he confirms that he wanted the kiss and how good it was, you soften for a few seconds. Then you ask him out, and he says yes. His eyes are dazed yet completely focused on you.

But you smile and set the plans anyway.

Anyway I wanted to write something a little more serious about the politics of the day - a trend many noticed in the 2024 election, and its aftermath, is all of these notable non-politicians jumping onto the Trump ship. You have certainly noticed the big ones doing it, the Musk-types. What I have also seen is the middle-road types - the podcasts slotting the admin into their current healthcare fad, the policy bloggers being like "Dear Trump, this is how to truly reform the government - my pet idea" and offering support. A sort of opportunistic bandwagoning. This does happen every election to some extent, but it is notable that it happened way, way less when Biden was elected.

Some view this through the lens of fear, of Trump's open willingness to tax or prosecute those who don't bend the knee. That is part of it, for sure. But the other part is that Trump doesn't really believe in all that much - and that is actually a pretty big asset in politics. If you are a "Progress Studies" blogger or a union rep or a tech CEO, does Trump disagree with any of your key issues? He might not! You can just "convince" him, that is actually on the table, and he might take up your cause. And the Republican Party - not always, absolutely not always, but sometimes - will be browbeaten into going along with his whims even if they contradict their previous ideology. If you are ambitious and play your cards right, the structure of the Trump admin can very much reward people along the lines of these pet issues.

This is something the Democratic party could not do. All policy from the Biden admin came from a decade+ process of being discussed within the party. There were absolutely, 100%, "factions" jockeying for influence, but it was insiders, pre-established orgs along known lines, who were doing that jockeying. Is there any big policy that the Biden admin pursued that truly surprised you? That you were like, "woah, where the fuck did Biden get this idea from?" Not really, right? Because the admin was in so many ways an extension of the party.

Now this can be a real strength when your political parties are strong. When the locus of politics is within parties, then naturally they should be informing directions, and your goal as an admin is to court them. But that is pretty much the opposite of the current US political landscape - political parties have never been weaker. Voters hate political insiders, primaries are completely open and people who openly oppose the party sometimes sweep them, voters don't get their political opinion or w/e from politicians or party orgs. Parties are downstream of where more and more political influence comes from (though ofc they are by no means powerless, this is all trendlines). If you are one of these political outsider types, the Joe Rogans or Progress Studies bloggers or crypto coalitions or whatever, the Democratic party is just not going to work with you? You will be "heard", but if you want influence you gotta put your decade+ into the party first.

But Trump? You just gotta show up and kiss the ring. For talented people, this is actually a much better deal. It probably won't work, but the odds are still better than the alternative. And the biggest looming wrinkle is that this strategy is being hamstrung by Trump being a total idiot and backstabbing asshole - imagine how effective these strategies would be if someone competent was doing it. His left-field ideas are not only "annexing Greenland", but also doing it in the most hamfisted way imaginable. The core idea here isn't that crazy btw! Greenland is pushing for greater independence from Denmark, but gets a ton of subsidies so is loath to lose them if they go solo. You can see how an intelligent operator charting some soft power politics here could maybe make something happen, but Trump is a fucking nob and can't do that. So he is often a bad vessel for your niche ideas. But at least he shows up to the game!

People sometimes really want politics to be ideological. They want a coherent political party with a unitary philosophy to implement a cohesive agenda. I get this appeal, but this just isn't how US politics, or democratic politics more widely, works. It is an endless process of factional recruitment for one-off reforms, and otherwise managerial policy (in)competence. Ideology is not elected, a "mandate" does not run for office. Some individual people win and then they invent a mandate afterwards. Democracy does not reveal consensus, it manufactures it. And the US is moving more towards that direction, not less.

My fear is Democrats, in "widening the tent", will focus too much on that internal party process, on trying to make the Democratic Party "coherently" something that is more appealing to the median voter. Valuable work, to be sure, but the other side is you need to make it more appealing to people of influence or talent. As others have commented, it is kind of baffling how the Biden administration committed itself to a policy of green electrification and banning foreign car imports, and somehow made an enemy of America's biggest domestic green electric car manufacturer. You need to be, on the margins, less committed to any specific ideology at all, and instead open to actually winning support from diverse factions. Otherwise the other side will always be more appealing to anyone not of your ideology, because they kind of don't care about ideology. The Dems are already the "bigger tent" party, this should be their wheelhouse. They just need to update their tactics for the modern era.

Been chewing more on how C3 wound up here. What’s throwing me is the strange shift from the cast’s unflinching “yes, and” game in C2 to a misplaced feeling that they need to choose correctly in C3.

I want to be clear here that this isn’t a criticism post because I genuinely don’t know what’s happening here. It’s just odd behaviors that seem to signal a problem, and I don’t know what solution would resolve it. I’m not going to be so presumptuous as to hypothesize about any cast member’s thoughts.

In the Cooldown for C3E118 (and offhandedly previously), Laura and Ashley expressed some nervousness about making big decisions because they’re worried about making the “wrong” choice. Without more, that attitude alone would explain much of the party’s indecisiveness about key campaign questions. After all, their characters are the two Ruidusborn of most interest to the campaign villains, and other characters (especially Orym, Laudna, and Ashton) have insisted that Imogen and Fearne take the lead on Predathos.

But this isn’t a story in a vacuum. C2 got completely derailed multiple times. The Mighty Nein decided to steal a pirate ship and leave the continent the campaign was set on; shortly after they returned, they decided to reopen a collapsed tunnel to go the opposite side of the continent; then Caleb returned the Luxon Beacon and made themselves heroes of an enemy nation instantly. That’s not even getting into the fact that Molly died before the Nein got to Shadycreek Run (which absolutely would have been all about his backstory) or that Twiggy left an incredible magical artifact that wasn’t supposed to be given to the Nein. Each time, Matt adjusted and made it work. Granted, C2 was more of a sandbox campaign, but Matt demonstrated his flexibility as a DM time and again.

Like, as a general rule of thumb, DMs shouldn’t offer options that would torpedo the campaign. It’s rational to avoid situations that have a genuine possibility of undercutting the game. Matt has been DMing for a long time; he’s done a very good job of finding ways to make the campaign work regardless of the decisions the players make. Even when players do something directly against the signals he threw out (like Ashton trying to absorb a second shard despite consistent, dire warnings that it would kill him), he works with the players to come to a reasonable solution (Ashton survived but the shard wouldn’t take, and he got some character moments out of the failure). We, the audience, know Matt is good at pivoting when he needs to.

In addition to taking the players’ curveballs like a champ, Matt also takes big swings for the sake of the story. In C1, Matt broke his biggest city with a dragon invasion, then made a new god leading an undead titan to go stomp out the world’s oldest civilization. In C2, he let the players go off the map whenever and still made the digression relevant to their character arcs every time. Not to be parasocial, but if we can figure out that that Matt can handle this sort of thing, the players certainly have a better feel for it than us.

So what is going on in C3? We know Matt isn’t scared of breaking Exandria or destroying the pantheon: he set that possibility in motion as the default ending if the players did nothing. CR literally did a mini series about the start of the end of the world with EXU Calamity. Laura and Ashley were also in Downfall and making big choices between the gods and mortals. Breaking stuff is what they do!

Where did this idea that there’s a “wrong” choice come from? That type of thinking kills a lot of great improv, and the whole point of the “yes, and” exercise is to shake it off. While it’s incredibly obvious to say not to think that way, the real issue is sorting out why that mentality has taken hold at all. That’s a problem no amount of fan discussion is going to resolve.

The Tulpar was always quiet at midnight.

Jimmy leaned against the rusted railing outside the medbay, a cigarette dangling loosely from his lips. His jumpsuit was stained with grease and blood—some his, some not. He’d learned to stop distinguishing between the two.

“You shouldn’t be smoking in here,” you said softly as you stepped out, clutching a first aid kit. Your uniform was crumpled, a dark stain smearing the corner of your sleeve where someone had grabbed you too hard earlier.

Jimmy exhaled a thin stream of smoke, his tired eyes flicking to you. “Don’t worry, Pretty sure a second-hand smoke’s the least of our problems.”

You sighed and set the kit down on a crate beside him. “Let me see.”

“See what?”

“The cut on your cheek. I noticed it earlier when Curly shoved you out of the cockpit.”

Jimmy flinched at the memory, his jaw tightening. “It’s fine.”

“It’s not,” you said firmly, stepping closer. “Please.”

After a long silence, Jimmy flicked the cigarette away and tilted his head slightly, letting you inspect the angry red gash on his cheekbone. Your touch was gentle, your hands steady even though your sleeves still trembled with exhaustion.

“Rough day?” he asked, breaking the silence.

You gave him a weak smile. “They cornered me again during lunch. Anya said I’m ‘useless dead weight.’ Daisuke laughed. Curly... just watched.”

Jimmy’s lips pressed into a thin line. “They’re all bastards.”

“Yeah,” you whispered.

For a moment, the two of you stayed like that—him leaning against the railing, you carefully dabbing antiseptic onto his wound. It stung, but Jimmy didn’t flinch.

Jimmy hesitated before falling into step beside you. The Tulpar was dark as you walked together, your footsteps echoing through empty corridors.

The storage bay was cluttered with crates and dimly lit by a single flickering lightbulb. You dropped the first aid kit onto an overturned box and sat down on an old blanket spread over cold metal. Jimmy lowered himself beside you with a heavy sigh.

For a while, neither of you spoke. You just sat there, side by side, sharing the same fragile silence.

“You ever think about leaving?” Jimmy asked suddenly, his voice low.

“Leaving the Tulpar?” you asked.

“Yeah. Getting away from all this. Away from them.”

You thought about it—the idea of escaping, of breathing fresh air, of seeing sunlight instead of flickering LEDs. “Sometimes. But where would we go?”

“Anywhere but here,” Jimmy said, his voice cracking slightly.

hwang jun-ho x detectivepartner!reader

working with your partner, who you are deeply in love with despite not realizing, took a turn towards witnessing the murder of many innocent lives, and evil lives looking down on them through a large, cinema screen, as if watching a funny movie.

The aroma of smocked cigars and strong alcohol filled the room of V.I.Ps, the mask placed on your face making the whole situation even more suffocating as you were forced to serve the wealthy, old american men, and your sly eyes glancing to hwang jun-ho from time to time, and he does the same as well through his own mask.

This all started from the search of jun-ho’s older brother, and he found some kind of card in his apartment with a circle, triangle and square. As his partner in the detective business, and long-lasting friend, you wanted to do all you could to help him with his investigation on both the illegal scenery and his brother. You both came onto the ship from the car they take you with, pretended to have been under the effects of the smoke, and took down two guards to take their uniforms, and that’s how you made it through. You tried to act tough, forcing yourself to not make a single sound and just keep on going, but there was this off feeling about the front man that you couldn’t exactly express. And now, because of those odd feelings, you and jun-ho were serving the V.I.Ps for separate reasons. Jun-ho wanted to see the games and if his brother is there, while you, on the other hand, had your eyes on the front man.

The V.I.Ps couldn’t have been more disgusting to you. They betted on which one of the players would win, they made real life people act as statues for them, all painted and naked, leaning and admiring them as if they were a piece of art, they made sexual jokes, especially that fat one jun-ho was serving, and you couldn’t help but keep an eye on him as well.

You noticed the lustful gazes the V.I.P made towards jun-ho, purposefully asking for more drinks just to get a closer look at him, doing all yet knowing the clear age difference and how uncomfortable he is. ‘It’s all part of the job’, you thought to yourself, resisting the urge to murder every single one of these assholes, starting with the fat one.

As you were serving one of the V.I.Ps, you secretly overheard the conversation between jun-ho and the V.I.P he is serving, how that man ‘likes his eyes’ and how he wants to see his face, and for somewhat reason you didn’t know about, jun-ho told him to take it to a more private location, which made your eyes pop out, watching them both stand up holding each other’s hands.

“hey, you all have fun,” the V.I.P stated, the other men looking towards his direction including you, practically glaring daggers into his skull. “I’m going off… for a different kind of fun.”

That comment alone made your eyes widen even more, what makes you even more sick is the reaction from the other men, laughter and teasing.

“Mmm, the real 69, huh?” One of the men purrs with playfulness as your eyes dart to jun-ho, communicating with your eyes of how this is a stupid idea and how he wouldn’t know what the man could do. Even hinting the sense of worry, yet he responds with a slight gesture of his hand, saying he’ll be okay, and after a couple seconds, they disappeared from your sight, and fear and anxiety spread through every corner, every vein, every particle of your body. You were completely out of your person until you hear the commanding tone of yet another V.I.P.

“hey! woman! are you deaf?” he says, immediately snapping you back into reality as you turn your head to face the culprit of the annoying voice. “I said, c’mere and give me a refill. jesus christ, these foreigners, man.” he complains with a scoff as your eyes go back to the previous glare, reluctantly walking towards the seated man and bringing up the bottle of whiskey from the tray to refill his cup. He noticed your look of unease, even though you were wearing a mask. He could see it in your eyes, and it amused him, amused him so much it made a dark chuckle escape from his lips.

“awe,” he said with mock sympathy. “was that your little boyfriend? don’t worry, the old gramps won’t hurt him. Maybe a slight sore throat, but nothing much.” he laughs straight to your face, along with the others, as he turns back to the large screen and watching the players fight for their lives. It made your heart feel heavy, and a reason for that would be your worry for jun-ho, begging to whatever god there is that he is okay, but also for being left alone in this room of torture with men that could do unimaginable things.

I know it’s been a while since I post so here’s some Hazbin art. I may upload some more Lucifer and Alastor stuff in the future. I honestly gave up on this because my app kept crashing so it’s kinda messy in some places and a bit all over the place.

This takes place after season 1. Lucifer is trying to heal Alastor’s wound and senses a foreign energy in him. Then a bunch of arguing later, he finds out that it’s Lilith. So, then it clicks for him as to why Alastor was/is at the hotel.

"He backed off" is also a new one in defense of Aang after the noncon kiss, and that literally doesn't matter, but also, Aang absolutely did not back off. He just...didn't pursue Katara further after she ran away from him, and it's not even clear whether he made a choice to give her space or if he just didn't have another opportunity because Zuko and Toph were sitting on either side of her.

Although, actually, if anything, it looks like he was trying to get closer to her, as after the balcony scene, he's no longer sitting on the other side of Zuko. He's sitting in the row behind them, in between Katara and Zuko.

This was probably done to visually emphasize Aang's insecurity about the possibility of Katara not liking him (and liking Zuko instead), but it kinda reads like Aang being a creeper given the context.

Also, I can't help but notice Katara's sad expression when onstage Aang says he's content to have a platonic relationship with Katara. Is she thinking about how very different this is from the real Aang, who got so angry at Katara not being his girlfriend that he violated her consent?

you guys like me going off on random DA tangents and musings, right?? because I've been awake too long so you're getting another one

I have been sat here trying to figure out Why Lucanis' prison looks like a bunch of ice and why it was so far away from the "lab" settings for a while now. (arguably two rooms fit this description, the one where Lucanis tells you about Zara and the one right outside his phylactery room) Like, even without that bridge being broken, it's in such a bizarre corner of the Ossuary. And I mean, it wouldn't really matter with a normal prisoner, but Lucanis was a notorious Crow and mage killer on top of that, plus he was Zara's special little guy to fuck with. You would not want to take him for a long walk to experience the worst shit on earth every few days. Maybe it's close enough to the little room where he mentions Zara and maybe she wanted him close to the door so she didn't have to go far to torture him, but again, leaving such a challenging subject close to the exit seems like a bad choice. You want him to have to get through so many guys and doors before escaping so you have time to take him down.

This also ignores the magic required to leave, but they're not clear on what that is and not all the Venatori are mages so there's gotta be a mundane way out he could snatch off a guard. I digress, the whole ice cage and far off room doesn't make sense. But we know they were shipping demons to Zara. (I'm pretty sure the few demons you confront in Minrathous were Zara's little pets set loose so we can assume she wanted them in the capital for the eventual Venatori coup on the crown) If Zara was about to be stuck in Minrathous for the foreseeable future, setting things into motion for Elgar'nan, I could see her wanting her pet Crow at her side. Especially if you consider the initial idea for Lucanis: he was going to be a mind controlled murder puppet before you break him out.

Sure, Spite didn't crack open his ribcage and crawl out like some new horror, but having a demon in Lucanis lets her control him via the phylactery if not just outright with her blood magic. Maybe his will was too strong for mundane control, but the phylactery works. We know it works based off of Lucanis' dialogue about it. So we know she had a surefire way to keep him under control. (There's a whole other post exploring the amount of dead Venatori and the fact that Lucanis still has his leathers and weapons [which would make sense if he was Zara's murder puppet, but alas] and whether Lucanis recently made a break for it or if the loose demons/spirits/undead killed them all) Maybe he kept his leathers because Zara wanted him presentable upon delivery, I don't know.

But I do think he was being prepped to move. The Ossuary is falling apart, Zara is pulling all the best results, they're losing personnel and servants without being given more; Zara was clearly moving on from that location. But she wanted her little Antivan prize. He's too dangerous to move normally, a Crow is likely to escape if given an inch especially a skilled one like Lucanis, so they need to lock him down somehow. Ropes and chains aren't reliable, not with a Crow, but he's not a mage. You can use magic. You can literally put him on ice. I think they were packaging him up in an ice cube and doing it next(ish) to the door so they could more easily move him. I think Zara was going to take him and his phylactery to Minrathous and use him to cause some absolutely ruthless mayhem in the city before her cult took it over.

I think Rook showing up weakened the spell being cast just enough for Lucanis and Spite to break out, and I think it saved a whole lot of lives.

in regards to headcanons for individual characters, I'm not really a huge headcanon person because it's just not how I personally like to engage with media is all!

I do have a few ideas about my fav ship (sonilver) though, if I imagine a scenario of them being together -

I think Silver would start travelling to the past just to see Sonic rather than to prevent some world-ending event

They would go on vacations together. Sonic canonically likes to relax and chill and Silver likes to take in the beauty of the world around him so they would just enjoy each other's company in a relaxed and peaceful setting

Sonic is reckless as all hell and I think, while Silver does respect his abilities, he would keep an eye on Sonic. He protects his future and now Sonic is a part of that.

yall i just had a random fic idea

okay it's kinda angsty so my bad

It's the chamber of secrets year- so 6th year for percy i think? and we all know that Penny canonically gets petrified? but what if she actually died? like what if instead of everything else happening after- they find her body quick enough but instead of her being petrified, she's dead.

Anyways, her and Percy could be best friends or dating, (both ways work, i kinda prefer best friends because i feel like it makes this worse??). But he's prefect so he doesn't even find out for a bit and then when he does he then has to immediately go back and deal with anll of gryffindor and his brothers. And he just had to act like he's fine.

And so we see him slowly breaking down but pretending to be fine, if you wanna incorporate perciver or some other similar ship you could have that person realizing something's wrong and he just starts sobbing.

And then i just imagined one scene where it's either at her funeral or they're taking her body away or something and he has to be dragged away screaming bc he won't leave her and he's in denial. And everyone thought he was fine but suddenly he's crashing out in front of everyone.

Before then- he's kind of a shell but no one notices. And they just think he's heartless and stuff because he's not outwardly showing his emotions.

There could also be a scene where someone (probably his mum idk) is berating him for not comforting his siblings more.

uhhh yeah, that's kinda it lol. it's not a fullly formed idea but i thought someone may like it?

oh also i though of it while listening to "The Subway" by chappell roan and i feel like that is the kind of theme or vibe i envision for it- especially the "She's got, she's got a way She's got a way, she's got a way"

HIS CHARACTER.

i feel he, as a character, is quite childlike in the sense he just does whatever strikes his fancy because that’s what he wants to do. but he’s also very calculating and subtle to not show potential weaknesses. i wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone through a lot of trauma overall, though, seeing how he seems to dissociate from himself, going so far as to think he’s “above” humans, as if he himself isn’t one (and yet, he is also very human, in an almost raw sense – his interest in kate as his “favorite” shows that he is not actually that capable of letting go of worldly attachments, and he is drawn to the idea of the “impure” in his birthday epilogue, when he smeared berry sauce on kate’s cheeks and wanted to keep his eyes on that).

interestingly, how his childlike front and calculating personality interact is something we can witness in one go when we can look at his relationship with food. he probably has had some form of food trauma (e.g. dealing with assassination attempts via poison in his food), as he seems to need to see others eat the same food first before he himself eats. but he doesn’t ask this directly, instead phrasing it like an invitation for the other to eat first. in this way, he doesn’t have to put himself in a more vulnerable state than the other. he eats with proper table manners while dining with crown “out of consideration,” but he prefers to eat messily, likely as an act of rebellion…could he have been in a very controlling environment when he was young?

this could in turn spur him on to be controlling of others in the present. i don’t think he is incapable of love like he claims, but i do think his sense of love, thanks to what could be growing up in a controlling environment, is inherently warped. i mean, if we look at dari and his relationship with ring…i don’t think it’s that darius doesn’t hold any “love” for ring — he probably thinks it’s a form of love in a way — and i think ring does need darius in the sense that darius is the one who can provide him stability and validation. when ring is hesitant to do something, he turns to darius. if darius thinks it’s alright, then ring does too. but also, darius is arguably very controlling over ring and manipulates him too. could be abuse, if we’re speaking bluntly. (one that i think, in a sense, ring can feel too.)

RELATIONSHIP WITH KATE.

so if we extend from that logic, i think his relationship with kate would get a bit twisted and gnarly as time goes on, when kate starts to become more than a “favorite” that darius sorta likes to coddle over like a pet. he seems to hold some yandere tendencies fs over kate — which goes further to show his sort of controlling nature. hell, he joked abt shipping her to germany. darius calm down! we can discuss this ,,!

anw it’s probably more so a relationship where kate chooses to “fall” along with darius. stuck in this cycle of trying to prove love exists to him and whatnot. or, i think it would be cool for it to sort of be that way. i know it’s an otome game, but also i think i kind of like the idea of sort of exploring a more complicated relationship, where whether it’s really truly romantic in nature is sorta left more vague and up to interpretation.

at the moment, though, from what i can glean from these two…kate seems to want to get along with darius, yk, like she would want to do for others. she sort of wants to treat darius as an equal, even though she is a bit cautious of him, very understandably so. she doesn’t seem that afraid of approaching him as a whole, though she also expresses some dissatisfaction at him sort of treating her like a pet and whatnot. however, it feels like in the end, it’s always him who gets the last word. they also seem to be opposites in the sense that darius doesn’t believe in love, while kate believes no one can truly live without love, to which darius says to “prove” that love exists. so maybe there’s a bit of that opposites attract sorta vibe going on too?

basically, kate can either “prove” love to darius, or the “poison” darius imbues in her will act on her first. perhaps that’s a matter of time.
