Yeah, anyway, friendly reminder that the OP is an alt-right account that made this post to incite the fanbase against Lauren and the show. The headline itself is misleading clickbait that was also meant to incite the fanbase against Lauren and the show. In the original article by Vulture, Lauren states that Henry Cavill was annoying because he was bugging her for the role before scripts had even been written yet (Henry Cavill had not even read the books when he was doing this, btw) and Henry Cavill himself said that he was being annoying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, friendly reminder that Henry Cavill massively over-exaggerated how much of a fan he was of the franchise and how much he knew about it. He hadn't even read the books when he first sought out the role because he thought they were based off the video games, he didn't learn otherwise and even read the books until Lauren told him about them — and he only read the series once back in 2018 right before he was cast, and he's only really played the third game — which he hasn't even played the DLC for.
Tumblr media
Also, by his own admission, he didn't actually do any research or preparation for the role at all.
“I asked my agent to put me on the spot and wanted to meet Lauren as soon as possible. I didn’t even need to prepare specially for the role. Because I breathe, I experience this universe every day. I’ve already had many opportunities to think about this character when I was playing the game. My preparation was already done before the casting even began!”
Henry Cavill also started the whole narrative about how important adhering to the source material is to him and how much he pushed for a more book accurate, verbose Geralt in the press for S2 in order to deflect from how he was the one who cut Geralt's lines in S1 in the first place, making his characterization inaccurate to the books. He also lied about the whole thing and tried to act like Geralt was never originally written as being as verbose as he is in the books when he was, he blamed Geralt's lack of dialogue on Yennefer and Ciri's prominence, and he tried to act like the lines he was cutting weren't that important anyway so it didn't really matter that he was cutting them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Henry Cavill also created that whole narrative about how important the source material is to him as if Lauren's vision of the show was somehow in opposition to the books because he was actually just mad that that he was co-lead with two women and that the show revolves around women so much. (Just fyi for anyone who doesn't know, but Ciri is the main character of the main book series which the show started adapting from S2 onwards and women are central, key figures in the books to the point where the story could not exist without them.)
Tumblr media
Henry Cavill was also directly responsible for, or at least had some hand in, a lot of the changes from the books. He cut Geralt's lines, as I've already said.
Tumblr media
By his own admission, he didn't want to play Geralt and Jaskier's friendship as being as friendly as they are in the books. So, really, any kind of positivity about Geralt and Jaskier's relationship should solely be attributed to Joey and his performance, tbqfh, as he was the only one actually doing anything in their scenes.
Tumblr media
Which even Henry Cavill himself basically admitted, js.
“Joey did all the work, I just had to take the right look and… we had a ready-made 'comedy.’”
Henry Cavill also cut a sex scene between Geralt and Yennefer in S2 because he didn't think it'd be in character of them to have sex after reuniting (it would've been, btw), he nixed the idea of Geralt and Triss even just platonically finding comfort in each other in S2 even though that happens in the books, and due to him not wanting to play Geralt struggling with fatherhood in any way in S2 nor with any character flaws and only positive character traits (because he was overcompensating for how he fucked up Geralt's characterization in S1) that led to the domino effect of Eskel's death, Yennefer's betrayal, and Voleth Meir being the big bad of the season.
Hope that helps!

Tells you everything you need to know about the people making these adaptations.

part ten of the maxiel corporate au! (do I need to change the name? things are getting complicated here. the day I write a clearly monogamist fic that's not the real sunny anymore)
heads up: both explicit content and violence in this one. the violence is somewhat mild, but it's still there.
it's the daniel and rico section, obviously, which is how this ended up being 3k. whoops. Max POV, Daniel POV.
Max double checks the list in his hand, waving behind him as he steps into the elevator. He's been doing good today- focused on his work, somewhat put his foot down with Daniel, and he's been exchanging messages with Rico during his brief breaks.
He leans against the wall as the elevator starts its ascent. He knows what he's actually going up here for- it'd be difficult not to.
He's trying not the think about last time, the way he'd been shoved down onto the desk, Daniel's hand pinning him. It'd be embarrassing to already be hard coming into the office, but he's rapidly headed that direction, hot under his shirt collar.
He's worrying at the paper in his hands, fingertips running across the folds and creases. He'd taken a picture of it, because he doesn't want to lose it or drop it anywhere.
There's the now-familiar pleasant chime of the elevator doors sliding open, and then Max is making his way down the hallway- a left, a left, and a right- to Daniel's office door. He knocks, rolling back onto his heels as he waits.
"Come in."
Max slides the door open, slipping inside. Daniel's staying late as well, and his curls are messy, like he's been running his hand through them. He looks about as tired as Max and the rest of the finance department feels.
And apparently also how they look, because Daniel raises an eyebrow at him and whistles, low and long.
"Damn, there a war going on downstairs? I didn't realize I'd be dragging you from the frontlines, babe."
Max makes a so-so motion with his hand, shrugging. He's too tired to feel flustered, not quite up for the normal cat and mouse game talking to Daniel always feels like.
"Might as well be, sir. I don't think anyone's a fan of Netco at the moment."
Daniel scowls, capping a pen with more force than necessary.
"Tell me about it, christ."
Max takes a few steps forward. There's an open space on the desk, and Daniel hasn't gestured for Max to come over, but-
Everyone is tired. Max doesn't mind sticking to routine.
The pleasantly surprised expression on Daniel's face when Max deftly steps around his knee and hops onto the desk is more satisfying than Max anticipated.
Daniel's shoulders relax, hands coming down to spread his fingers across Max's thighs.
"Taking initiative, Maxy?"
Max tilts his head to the side, leaning back on his hands.
"We have performance evaluations coming up, sir."
Daniel laughs- a real one, which Max is learning is different from the ones he'll give over the phone.
"Glowing marks for you babe, I've only heard good things."
He reaches up, tapping lightly at Max's jaw.
"Real pretty face too."
Max isn't sure if it's the sleep deprivation, the pleasant feeling he's had all day, the pent up horniness, or a combination of the three- but he's feeling bold, twisting his head to capture two of Daniel's fingers in his mouth, running his tongue over them.
Daniel makes a surprised noise, pressing them against the inside of Max's cheek.
"Yeah?"
Max hums, spreading his thighs on the desk. He wants.
Daniel presses down on his tongue before withdrawing his fingers, pushing his thumb into Max's bottom lip.
Max makes a soft noise, waiting for an instruction, but Daniel seems mildly captivated. He's not doing anything.
If Daniel wants Max pent up and horny all the time, he's going to have to deal with the consequences. Max slides off the desk, folding down onto his knees between Daniel's legs, looking up at him.
Daniel's eyes are wide and entranced, hand gently falling into Max's hair.
"Maxy, what's gotten into you?"
Max rests his cheek on Daniel's thigh, his own hands held neatly in his lap. He's not sure how to answer- just knows he feels more settled in his own skin about everything, feels less like he's in free fall than he did before.
The knowledge that he'll be calling Rico after helps. Even if he does feel weird when he's done with Daniel- and he usually does- Rico will make it better.
Max doesn't really want to answer though. He knows what he's up here for, and so does Daniel, even if the energy is different this time.
Daniel laughs softly, fingers absentmindedly carding through Max's hair.
"Okay babe, we can do that. But I've got to actually get some things handled, and you really do need to go back to work after- so how about we try something different, yeah?"
Max blinks, waiting.
"I need that list, sweetheart."
Oh, right.
Max carefully pulls it out of his pocket, handing it up to Daniel. There's a moment where Daniel's fingers brush over the back of Max's hand, heat shooting through him.
"Thank you."
His other hand pulls Max's head up a bit, forcing their eyes to meet.
"Can you be good if I give you something to keep your mouth occupied?"
Max is confused for a moment before realizing, cheeks flushing as he nods. Daniel pats the top of his head.
"Good."
He rolls forward, and Max has to scoot further underneath the desk to accommodate. It's darker, noise muffled through the thick wood- his head is spinning.
Daniel's fingers nimbly unclasp his belt, and then he's pulling his cock out, letting Max wrap his fingers around the base.
Max gives a few experimental licks at the tip, but Daniel's hand tightens in his hair, tugging.
"I said be good, babe."
Max makes a soft noise, sinks a few inches down. Daniel's fingers tighten again before relaxing, smoothing gently over his hair in a way that almost feels apologetic.
Max can feel his shoulders sinking down, muscles relaxing as he takes Daniel further down his throat. His mind is starting to float away from him, blurring at the edges of his consciousness in a way that Max is learning he really likes.
Daniel's hand is heavy on his head, and Max can faintly hear him speaking above him, but it's not at him, so he doesn't think too hard about it.
At some point- Max isn't sure how long it's been- he can feel drool starting to pool at the bottom of his mouth, and he doesn't even think before he swallows.
Daniel's voice hitches above him, fingers squeezing. Max winces, because he hadn't really meant to do that.
He does his best to behave after that, letting Daniel's voice wash over him from above, eyes drifting closed. It's not quite like sleeping- but it's relaxing.
He doesn't even realize that Daniel has stopped talking, lazily blinking his eyes open when Daniel's thumb brushes across his hairline.
"Maxy, how you doing down there?"
Max makes a soft hum. Daniel's half-hard, and Max is only duly aware of his own arousal.
He leans his face into Daniel's hand. It's surprisingly nice, being like this with him. So far most of Max's time with Daniel has been overwhelming, a blur of embarrassment and pleasure, but this is different- he feels like putty, resting between Daniel's legs, holding his cock in his mouth.
It's slowed his brain down, eased the tension out of his shoulders and spine.
Daniel's fingers slide back into his hair, and then he's pulling back, his other hand reaching down to support Max's head.
"C'mere babe."
Max goes easily, blinking against the bright light as he shuffles out from the desk. His legs are asleep, buckling under him when he tries to stand.
Daniel's quick- gets his hands around Max's waist, bringing him back up and into the air, settling him on the desk again.
Max feels boneless, eyes hazily watching Daniel's. His face softens, one hand coming back to Max's thigh.
"Yeah, I think that's enough for today."
Max isn't sure how long he sits there- he feels like he's been out in space, and he's trying to come back down to Earth. Daniel keeps one hand curled around his hip, but he's rolled closer to the desk, still navigating around on his monitor.
Max finally starts to shift, rolling his ankles carefully as feeling comes back to them. Daniel's eyes flick up to his from where he's been intently reading an email, the edge of his pen caught between his teeth.
Daniel grins, squeezing his hip.
"Feeling good?"
Max thinks about it for a moment- he is. He really is- more than he thought was possible, considering they didn't really do anything.
"Yes sir."
Daniel's smile is softer than Max is used to, not quite as sharp as it's been before.
"Catering is just about here, if you're ready to head back downstairs."
Max feels his eyebrows furrow.
"But sir, you didn't-"
Daniel cuts him off with a soft squeeze.
"It was what I needed, babe. Good job."
The praise flickers at the pit of Max's stomach, turns into something warm and gooey inside of him. He wants more of it.
Daniel's hands still hover by his waist as Max slips off the desk, but his legs are more stable now, supporting his weight.
"Thank you, sir."
Daniel tilts his head, looking like there's something else he wants to say- but he just shakes it softly.
"I appreciate you bringing the list up."
Max nods, and then he's leaving Daniel's office. He doesn't go back down to the fourth floor- gets out at the 5th instead, where everyone has gone home for the night.
He steps into one of the employee bathrooms, pulling his phone out of his pocket.
"Max?"
"Hi, Rico."
There's a low noise from Rico on the other end of the line, and then the background chatter on his end fades away as Max hears a door shut.
"You sound good."
Max feels good- better than he ever has after Daniel before. He hums, eyes drifting shut as he pins the phone between his ear and his shoulder.
"It was gentle today. He didn't actually fuck me though, which was weird."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah, I just kind of stayed under the desk for a little bit. I feel like I took a power nap, honestly."
"That's good. Sounds like he took care of you for once. You feeling good too?"
Max nods before he remembers Rico can't see that.
"Yes, I'm very relaxed. But it's nice, being able to talk to you."
Rico makes a soft approving noise, voice dropping lower.
"Glad to hear it. You did such a good job for us both, being good for Daniel like that. I'm proud of you."
Max leans his head back against the wall, letting the praise smolder low in his gut, seeping warmth into him. First Daniel, now Rico- Max is going to develop an ego if they keep this up.
"He's catered us dinner for the department, since we're all having to stay late tonight."
"Yeah, that's nice of him. I have a match tonight, so I won't be home, but you're more than welcome to stay at my place, okay?"
"Oh- thank you. I might do that, it depends on how the rest of the night goes."
"Always available, Max. I'm never going to be upset if I come home and you're there."
Max hums. He needs to go back downstairs- his brain is starting to kick back up, running smoother than it had before. There's a couple reports he wants to go over again.
"It'll just be a surprise then. Have a good match, Rico. Take 'em for all their worth."
"Hell yeah."
------
It's dark out when Daniel finally logs out, scrubbing his hands down his face. He's not worried-
He's a little worried.
The official VIP invitation to a local match had caught him by surprise until he saw who it was from, and now he's moderately concerned for his life.
Or his teeth, at the very least. It's inspired him to get an appointment set up with his dentist, but if he loses a few he's not going to be happy.
He shakes out his hands, standing from the desk. It'd been a surprising change of pace with Max earlier- Daniel really had intended to be less... tender, about the whole thing. It's a strictly sex based arrangement, so it's entirely inconvenient that he's suddenly started noticing the freckle on Max's lip, or his stupid little slack emoticons, or the way he'd looked so trustingly up at Daniel from under the desk.
Max isn't interested in anything from Daniel beyond that, and Daniel shouldn't be interested in anything from Max. He has a feeling that Rico is about to beat that message into his skull.
Literally.
------
Daniel... sort of forgets about the looming threat above his head. He gets caught up in the lights, in the showmanship- he's always been a fan of fights, and being in such a good seat really is exciting for him.
He remembers the moment they announce Rico. His blood ices over, sweat beading at the back of his neck. Rico is huge, and he's exactly as jacked as Daniel expected him to be.
He gets a bit lightheaded- hears the match start, watches with blurry vision as Rico tears through his opponent like butter.
There's a moment where Rico turns, eyes catching Daniel's for a brief moment- right before he hits the other man so hard Daniel feels sympathy whiplash in his neck.
There's a ding of the bell, and then Rico is definitely looking at him- blood smeared on his teeth, lips stretched into a grin.
Daniel feels a shiver run down his spine- maybe it's the last of his self preservation finally deciding he's a lost cause and jumping ship. If Daniel was street smart, he'd be hightailing it out right now- wouldn't even give Rico the opportunity.
Unfortunately, he's not. It's a well known personal failing- he's got a good eye for business, but sometimes common sense likes to skip him.
So he follows Karim back down the hallways to the setup rooms, waiting patiently after Karim leaves. Part of him wants to ask him to wait with him, protect him from getting beat to a fucking pulp, but-
Karim is part of Rico's team, and that would probably just end with two people hitting him instead of one.
------
Daniel's fiddling with the rings on his fingers when the door swings back open again, and then Rico is stepping in.
There's a wet towel around his neck, pink spots on it from where he's been wiping blood off of his split lip. He kicks the door back shut behind him, eyeing Daniel. His eyes drag across him slowly, and Daniel shifts where he's sitting on the counter, uncomfortable.
Rico huffs a laugh, tossing the towel onto one of the counters as he leans back against the door with his arms crossed, blocking the only exit.
"What, don't like being looked at like a piece of meat?"
Oh.
Daniel has a feeling that charisma isn't going to serve him well here- he averts his eyes.
"Look at me."
Rico's voice is low and dangerous, and Daniel's looking back at him immediately, heart pounding. There's adrenaline hot in his veins, but nowhere for it to go.
Rico steps forward off the door, moves right up into Daniel's space. His back is flat against the wall, large fingers coming up to grip his jaw tightly. Rico is a burning line of heat in front of him- Daniel feels tiny in his shadow. If someone opened the door, they probably wouldn't even be able to see him- it makes him feel like a prey animal, like he wants to roll over and show his belly, hoping and praying that it's enough.
He lets Rico move his chin up, meeting his eyes.
His heart has never gone this fast in his life.
"You are one lucky bastard, that Max likes what the two of you have going on. If it was up to me, I'd fucking leave you here in a trash bag."
Daniel swallows, afraid to move. Rico sneers down at him, split lip glistening with fresh blood.
"But I don't like how you're doing it, so here's what's going to happen, yeah? You're going to step it up-"
His fingers grip tighter for emphasis, jerking Daniel's head slightly.
"-and do it right. If you keep using him and tossing him away, I'll leave you in so many pieces they'll give up looking for you. Got it?"
Daniel nods, eyes wide. He can do that- of course he can do that, he's realized that he wants to do that.
Rico tilts his head, eyeing him appraisingly, and then suddenly there's a thick thumb in Daniel's mouth, pressing down meanly on his tongue-
Daniel whines.
Rico scoffs.
"Yeah, that's what I thought. You're going to be a good boy now when you fuck Max, yes? Treat him nice, take care of him after. He tries so hard to behave for you-"
His thumb curls behind Daniel's bottom teeth, yanking him forward into his chest so that Rico can look down at him.
"I think it's time for you to put in a bit of effort as well."
Daniel breathes shallow through his nose, nodding. He can do that, he can-
Rico pulls his thumb out, pushing Daniel back against the wall as he turns away.
"I don't want to have to have this conversation again Ricciardo- I won't be as nice the second time."
Daniel slumps back against the cool concrete behind him, face flushed. His heart feels like it's going to beat out of his chest, and his eyes are wide as he tracks Rico moving around the room, pulling a hoodie over his head.
Rico looks back over at him, impassive.
"Handle yourself, and get the fuck out of my building."
Daniel has never listened to someone quicker.

PLEASE GIVE US THE OLD MAN RAMIREZ LORE!!!
GLADLY
I have two other asks like this and I wanna answer them each independently so get ready fghdsjka
Tumblr media
Soos worked alongside Dipper in the 80s, at first acting just as a friend and adventuring partner. While Dipper moved to Gravity Falls, Soos is a native and working as a janitor in the elementary school at the time.
They met at the arcade, where Dipper was trying to find a ghost haunting one of the machines, and he found very quickly that Soos was not only a good partner, but also a good friend. They bonded pretty fast after that.
Dipper was mostly chasing ghosts, but he would take interest in other anomalies as well, leading him to writing down and sketching this weird grafiti he found in a cave once, then translating it once he got home. While he heeded the warning not to read it aloud, Soos... didn't. Dipper yelled at him over it, fearing the worst, but then nothing happened, so whatever. Weird cave drawing.
That night, Soos meets Bill Cipher.
Bill was not as patient as he was with Ford in canon. Here, he told Soos about a dimension with all the answers only a couple months into their friendship, IF that long. Soos had the technical know-how to build it, and Bill gave him the blueprints one at a time in his sleep. Then, to avoid suspicion since they both knew Dipper would assume Bill was a malicious entity, Bill had him put those blueprints outside Dipper's door for him to wake up to, making him think a cryptid was helping him, thus giving him confirmation bias about that other dimension of weirdness.
Portal test happens, Soos gets pulled through, and he puts two and two together. He tells Dipper immediately about what he saw, which lead to him confessing everything. Dipper rightfully got mad at him for lying, which caused Soos to run. But at this point, he'd made a possession deal with Bill, and Bill uses Soos' body to torment Dipper.
Soos, wracked with guilt, immerses himself in the arcade. He plays games in a form of avoidance, eventually getting addicted to them as McGucket did the memory gun.
There is one game in particular, however, that was more addicting than the others. I'm picturing it as a bit of a sim, which IS strange for an arcade. This game talks directly to Soos, telling him that life would be better in a video game, to which he agrees. Things tend to just work out that way.
Over the next few months/years, the game takes pieces from Soos and transfers them into the game itself. Soos doesn't notice at first, only feeling more and more lost and depressed, especially after he goes to check on Dipper only to find him missing...? And yeah, of course he wants to search for his friend, but he not only doesn't trust himself anymore, but he also feels that pull back to the cabinet and just makes his situation worse.
After a while, the game asks him again if he would like to become a video game, to which he says yes. The game then offers to transfer the rest of him inside, and Soos freaks out. He didn't mean it literally, even if it still doesn't sound too bad...? But the change freaks him out too bad, and he refuses.
The game tries to do it anyway, resulting in a torn sense of self. Old Man Ramírez is that result, his entire life being viewed as a video game. He's unable to take anything more seriously than one would a plot point IN a game, and he often dissociates and daydreams when he's not actively running around looking for loot.
See, it turns out the ghost Dipper was looking for way back when? The ghost they caught was unrelated. There was still a different ghost inside the arcade machine, a ghost named Giffany. And Giffany refuses to let Soos go.
This brings us to modern day, when the Stan twins find out that Ramírez worked with the Author. They are able to figure out that Soos is in the machine, and dive in to look for him. Once they do find him, he rejects the machine and declares he's never gonna play a game again, before backtracking and admitting he might every now and then, but never to the point that he stops living again. They all escape, and though Soos is still extremely disoriented and needs to re-learn how to be a person, he starts being able to heal.
And yeah, in that "episode," part of the B plot is that everyone else's bodies are running around, reduced to their basic personalities intertwined with video game tropes. So like, Stan loves adventuring and causing trouble, so he just starts doing that and "scoring points" while doing it. Ford, who loves mysteries, starts basically dong escape rooms. Idk who else is there but Grauntie Mabel is trying to keep all the bodies together to make the transfer back easier.
Basically, instead of the memory gun, it's video games, and specifically Giffany. Soos becomes avoidant, thinking Dipper doesn't wanna see him, and feeling incredibly guilty over the Bill thing. His soul basically split from his body and it's kind of a metaphor for getting lost in the sauce, for lack of a better phrase fdshjk

For the AU where Ilnam takes Gihun off the game to keep him as a pet... I don't really have the words for this right now but please just imagine Sangwoo's POV for a second when he hears "player 456 eliminated" and how fucked up he'd be for the rest of the games and then getting out and going to check on Gihun's mom only to find her dead and he'd never even know what happened to Gihun (unless..?) aaaaaaa
(Unless he somehow also comes across the Salesman later on and actually has a semi convo with him where Salesman lets something slip that makes it sound like he knows Gihun and is talking about him in present tense. Nothing super obvious but something Sangwoo notices and puts together idk.. And then Sangwoo investigates?? Tries to infiltrate the games in his own way? (So imagine in a more VIP/insider sort of way) Maybe Saebyeok learns about this and also wants to help? Maybe they bump into Junho along the way and the whole merc Kim and co plot still happens but Saebyeok is on the water with Junho while Sangwoo is on the island confronting the Frontman and looking for Gihun)
(Nothing super dark/darker than canon is happening with Inho/Gihun in this AU so like I imagine he's not exactly kept there against his will.. Maybe at first, but then it's more that at some point he learned about his mother's death, and Sangwoo and Saebyeok got what they needed, and even with them being alive he's still traumatized from the games and Ilnam's betrayal and basically having to gamble with people's lives. They offered him enough money to pay off his debts and start over but he feels like he has nothing left to live for out there, like he wouldn't be able to talk to Gayeong and like Sangwoo wouldn't want anything to do with him especially after what they went through, so he just sort of... stays, and tries to convince Inho to stop the games, and when that doesn't work tries to at least keep changing them to give people the most chances of survival. Like the keeping the money change, or like a new change where people who vote to leave get to just leave and only those who choose to stay keep playing. No more 'special game' at nighttime.
And he's miserable but he really feels like he wouldn't know what to do with himself out in the real world, and he doesn't want to bring down his friends with him, so maybe it's better if he stays "dead". And meanwhile Inho is just trying to win him over and convince him that they belong together, that he can make him happy if he stays with him forever.)
-- sparks
I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS!!! 💖💖
gihun is so traumatized and insecure about his place in people's lives that he just remains in the island. gayeong is being taken to america, sangwoo will help gihun's mom he's sure, saebyeok has her life... in his head, he is of no use to anyone.
except inho. inho tells gihun that he is needed at the island. at inho's side. and also ilnam's but the old man isn't important here. inho can make him happy and fulfilled, can turn him from a man with no purpose into someone who betters the world by removing the trash from the streets. gihun is horrified by this of course, he won't be a willing participant in the murder of innocents.
so he tells inho that he needs to make changes to the games and gihun will stay. like you said, anon, the money being divided and the ones who want to leave being allowed out and the vote after each game.
unbeknowst to gihun, sangwoo and saebyeok and junho are trying to find the island.....

I'm Good At Loving You (You're Good At Loving Me) pt. 2
part 1
(hurt/comfort i think. feedback is appreciated, i'm new to this)
Kara notices after that conversation at the Tower three weeks ago something started to change.
Lena stays over almost everyday, and they develop a domestic routine: sometimes they're lucky enough to spend some more minutes in bed before properly starting the day, just enjoying the other's company. Then they eat breakfast, wash the dishes, sweep the floor, take out the trash. After that they shower and get ready for the rest of their day. They have a late lunch with their team and go back to their respective tasks. By the time she goes back home Lena is usually there, if they didn't go together.
Kara's favorite part is the relief of coming home and finding Lena making dinner, or reading a book on the couch, or coming out of the shower, or- Kara's favorite part is Lena. And today she's...
Not here.
As if today wasn't awful enough already.
She came in through the window and falteringly made her way to the kitchen, leaning over the countertop.
She finds a note on top of it in Lena's handwriting "forgot my phone at the lab, portal watch is still broken :/ BRB "
Not even five minutes later her partner arrives. She barely opens the door and Kara envelopes her in a hug. Lena is quick to reciprocate despite the suddenness.
"Oh. Hi. I came back as fast as I could, are you okay?"
Today was a hectic day. She had to leave early in the morning and missed breakfast, the villain of the week was turning into villain of the month, she'd been running on nothing but a sandwich, a bag of chips and yellow star radiation for the past 12 hours, and to top it all off she solar flared. She used the last bit of her powers to fly home. She didn't break anything and didn't get sick, but still, everything hurts.
She shakes her head.
"Oh, darling. Let's go inside and talk about it?"
Kara doesn't want to talk though. She squeezes Lena tighter. She can do that now.
"Or we could go inside and not talk about it?" Lena knows her so well. "How about we get you out of this suit, and you take a nap while I worry about dinner. Does that sound good, honey?"
Lena knows her so well.
She loves Lena calling her "darling", but "honey" is on another level.
It's for when she's grieving Krypton, her family, her friends, her culture. For when she can't get out of bed after waking up five seperate times in the same night because the memories that come back as nightmares wouldn't give her a break. For when she couldn't save everyone from a fire or earthquake or alien attack. For when she's not even able to process and explain what's happening.
It's been a while since she needed it.
She nods.
She has no idea what time it is when she wakes up, all she knows is that it's cold, Lena is stroking her hair and the softness of her voice can be compared to the one of her hoodie and sweatpants.
"How are you? Did you sleep well, honey?"
Kara yawns and stretches. She does feel a little bit better so she nods.
She does remember what Lena said during dinner. "I talked to Alex and J'onn and they agreed that we all need a break, so Nia suggested a game night sometime soon."
The night's events blur together. She doesn't know if it's because of her exhaustion or the fact that this has happened so many times before — it's mundane, eating with Lena after a hard day.
She also remembers when she was able to voice her thoughts for the first time since she got home.
She had just gone to bed, her face buried in the pillow, as Lena was petting her hair.
"Honey, are you feeling better?"
She nods and turns to her left so she can see Lena. "Thank you for this."
"I'm glad I was able to help."
"You always are."
Kara grabs Lena's other hand and brings it to her lips, peppering her with kisses, maintaining eye contact. She wants to be closer, though.
Lena reads her mind again. She lifts up the blanket as an invitation to get closer, which Kara accepts.
Kara settles her body between Lena's legs and rests her head on her chest. Featherlight fingers caressing her back, the subtle rise and fall of Lena's breathing. It's grounding.
"I love you." she breaks the silence.
> > > × < < <
Kara has said that a lot in the past couple of weeks. Mostly when they're in private, or when she's about to go on field.
She had been so anxious about this. Terrified to trust that Kara wasn't manipulating nor leaving her.
But seeing the way Kara looks at her – like the first time they woke up together, or shared clothes; with an unmistakable fondness in her eyes, a light blush on her face and a smile on her lips – she knows she means it.
Most of the time, Lena responds with physical affection, a soft "I know", a concerned "stay safe", an "ily" text; sometimes she didn't respond at all, still not completely used to it. This is not any of those times.
"I love you too." She barely thinks about it, it's always on her mind. Such a frequent thought it became an easy action. Natural. Familiar. Known.
"I know, baby." Kara plays with the collar of Lena's shirt, traces her neck and jaw.
She never liked being called "baby" by her exes. It was uncomfortable, infantilizing and just felt wrong.
There was only one person who made it tolerable: Jack. But even then he didn't use it all the time. He preferred "darling" and so did she.
The first time Kara used that pet name, it came as a suprise that it didn't bother her. It was two, maybe three weeks into this new aspect of their relationship.
"You're so wonderful, baby, so stunning." Kara could probably listen to her pulse rushing and see her face flushing which only made her blush even more.
In the past she would have said something like "I know you're trying to be cute but I really don't like that word", instead she said nothing because her brain had given up on her.
The reason she likes it so much now is probably because it's always accompanied with compliments and reassurance.
"I'm so proud of you." proud. Lena lets out a short laugh and smiles shyly.
"Darling, you're doing it again..."
"Doing what?"
"Comforting me when you're the one who needs it."
"I told you." she finds a way to get even closer, kisses her cheek and says "It helps."
Although she doesn't fully understands how that works, she does see how it affects Kara when she starts to relax.
> > > × < < <
She eventually falls asleep.
With Lena's hearbeat at the perfect volume on her ears; audible but not overwhelmingly loud.
The words "I love you too" echoing in her mind; can words be addictive?
The hope that tomorrow won't be worse than today; may Rao help her.
She eventually falls asleep.

Archetype & Foil Theory - Despair Time & 'AltDRDT'
Tumblr media
Preface: I dislike the placeholder 'AltDRDT' and will be using Knight's Game in it's place for the entirety of this post. Also the entirety of this post will not be written when it is posted ! So the initial preface does not actually mean anything if you are reading this now.
Similarly, I will also be referring to the Knight's Game characters by the animal they are associated with in the Chinese Zodiac & not by the usual names assigned to them by fandom. I just find this an easier & less clunky way to recall them. ^^'
I will translate this post into written text at a later point. TL;DR all the despair time & AltDRDT characters parallel mainline game characters & the death order does as well.
Spoilers Ahead.
Knight's Game Animal Visual Guide:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Disorganized Rambling:
Both chapters so far have already substantially paralleled key elements of THH. These parallels are often presented through a 'deviant', non conventional lens.
Chapter 1: Sayaka Betrayal, Makoto Accused first, Min doesn't like her talent (Leon), Xander worked super hard for talent (Sayaka), Xander is a red haired rebel who used to do something with his hair he now refuses to do on principle (Leon), Min wants to try something unrelated to her talent (Leon), Xander idolized a blue haired character he knew before the game (who also knew him [Sayaka]), a 'purple' 'smart character' who didn't talk much before helps the protagonist during the investigation, something unlucky happens to the protagonist which partially results in an aspect of the case or the murder itself, a stabbing in the stomach occurs.
Chapter 2: Smaller timid character grapples with gender identity, tough guy & timid character conflict, Arei was bullied in the past and tries to change (Chihiro), victim is hung up (Chihiro), character has a 'personality change' during the trial (Toko), character becomes obsessed with another character and stalks them, Ace grapples with a life he feels responsible for the loss of in his past (Mondo), Ace did not feel he was capable of changing and becoming a better person (Mondo), David 'tampers' with the case (Togami), Levi is outed for murdering multiple people prior to the killing game (Toko)
Several characters also intensely reflect aspects of mainline characters, either directly or by inverting them.
Not comprehensive: Teruko is miserable because of her luck (Makoto), Charles suffers as a result of his family legacy (Togami), Eden aids the protagonist after the aftermath of the first case (Kyoko), Veronika obsesses over fiction to the detriment of others (Hifumi), Rose has borderline psionic powers (Yasuhiro), J lied about her name (Celeste), Whit has a strong 'intuition' (Sayaka), Veronika is easily bored (Junko), David is dedicated to upholding the ideal of another to the detriment of his own humanity (Mukuro)
Regarding the Knight's Game cast, while we know next to nothing about them personally we can make inferences from the unofficial side content as well as their designs & the chinese zodiac motif.
For the 'tiger' character, she is in demeanor obviously very similar to Akane's surface level personality and we can extrapolate that she is likely a fighter of some sort based on her design. Her 'zodiac foil' is the horse which based on the zodiac motif theory would be the host. Akane's most notable action as a character within DR2 is attacking the host in chapter 3 and Nekomaru sacrificing himself in order to protect her from dying. Notably, dragon's parallel is Nekomaru & is almost certainly Tiger's brother, making a sacrifice of this nature much more believable.
Also notably, we are currently at 11 cast members, placing the Knight's Game KG at chapter 3 of DR2 - where Ibuki would have already died and been killed by Mikan. This would put that sacrifice at some point either in the events immediately prior to the memory wipe OR during the first chapter we are going to see. This would also notably place Dragon as the victim in the following chapter, allowing for him to have an adequate amount of screen time prior to his death as proposed by this theory.
This means Sheep, Mikan's parallel, would have killed prior to the memory wipe and that for some reason she was not punished for this crime. (Potentially suggesting a trial was never held for her murder or that it could not be completed.) Sheep is foils with Ox, who is Hiyoko's parallel and much like Xander & Charles to Teruko, is placed adjacent to Teacher in the cast art, alongside Rabbit who is often shown to be positive towards Teacher, is so far suggested to be closer to him than other students and would be his foil within the zodiac. Xander was the one to begin to start the killing game and betray Teruko. Much like Xander, Sheep may betray Teacher and begin the killing game by killing ox, also playing into the motif of a 'wolf in sheep's clothing.' Alongside this, Sheep has Whit's color pallet, who would be the DRDT mastermind according to this theory - even more notably, pink is a recurring color of significance in Danganronpa as a whole and is often associated with despair as it is the color of blood. As evidenced by Xander & Mai, despair is certainly no stranger to reccuring color and design motifs.
Potentially unrelated but still notable: within the story of the zodiac race itself, the monkey, sheep and horse work together in order to win the race. The horse is the host and the monkey is a character already immediately entrenched in mischief due to both demeanor, parallels to both Xander and Min's designs (as well as parallels in side content art, their design literally being swapped with theirs) and her association with XF-Ture tech. Not to mention his proposed parallel being Nagito. These two characters being paired with Sheep in the context of working together to 'win the race' in a killing game, who is potentially the first killer we'll be seeing, is certainly an odd string of coincidences in any case.
The dog is paralleled to Fuyuhiko who's bodyguard he grew up with sacrifices herself for him as a result of him lashing out over the murder of his sister being covered up. Dog is currently best known for his potential relation to Teruko and if the cases do reflect one another then this would be a case which occured before the memory wipe - giving the author ample opportunity to explore Dog's relation to his 'sister' (Teruko) while exploring the erased memories. While not explicitly related nor confirmed, it is speculated that Dog is a bounty hunter and at the very least Dog's design and present promotional art clearly depicts that he has some association with the military. The dog motif further emphasizes this.
Regarding the zodiac foils themselves and whether or not they are reliable: while tenuous at the moment, they are not entirely unsubstantiated. Teacher and Rabbit are often paired in positive relation in official art. Dog is deeply suspected of being Teruko's older brother and Dragon is very likely Tiger's brother. The two both potentially being protective brother's who try to protect their sister's that are always getting in trouble could very well be explored within the text. Mouse and Monkey are both design swapped and paralleled to Min and Xander, the first victim and killer as well as the (IMO) most blatant foil pair within their respective entry. Tiger, who is paralleled with Akane, could from what we know very believably have a disposition which would lead her to conflicting with the host frequently. Ox and Sheep both have very explicit horns in their designs and this could very well be a nod to them frequently 'butting heads.' No substantial connection between Pig and Snake occurs to me at the moment, as we have seen next to nothing regarding both characters however they are paralleled to Gundham and Sonia which I think is notable at least.
I would also like to note that I did not parallel Teacher to Hajime because I believe he much more intensely parallels either Monomi or Chisa. Hajime also has another character which very intensely parallels him which we already know about: Mai Akasaki.
Both completely normal people with presumably no talents who are simultaneously upheld as 'gods' by those around them or at the least deeply idolized. Albeit for very different reasons. A significant theme in both of these characters stories is of course aldo that they grapple with whether or not they want to adhere to the 'rules of society.' For some reason or another, these characters are also blamed for a killing game.
It is called Knight's game because I do not know what you could design a horse mascot as other than a knight chess piece. Maybe a zebra, for the 'mono' design the stripes would lend to. Zebras are not horses but are adjacent. I do not know. A horse mascot is kind of funny to me.
All mainline parallels for the Knight's Game cast are either based on design elements or speculative elements of the story which have no actual basis so this is entirely unsubstantiated lol. I'm arrogant to a detrimental degree so I'm secure in my conclusion regardless and feel gratified by how many connections I incidentally spawned from what is an intensely miniscule amount of content.
Can we please begin tagging this series as Knight's Game instead of AltDRDT. This is not a realistic ask since it is already ingrained but I do not like AltDRDT lol. I'm not sure why it's just difficult for me to attach to.
I feel similarly about most common names for the characters. I'm actually a bit surprised by how long it took for a large portion of the fandom to notice the Chinese Zodiac motif after the designs were released. Though I suppose some design aspects which were rectified later on makes that much easier in retrospect that it would have been at the time. Still, they do have obvious placeholder names, at least IMO.
Here's a link to my Zodiac post which explains the motif in more detail. I am not inclined to do so here. ^^'

Thanks for reading, apologies for the visuals not being translated ATM; I'll get around to it. I hope this was engaging, helpful or insightful. : ) Be well and take care. 🎉
@bronze-ocs
This post indirectly answers your ask. At the very least it gives my current death order predictions. If I feel inclined to I'll also make a separate post for those individually where I explain my thoughts on them in more detail. ^^' I hope you enjoy anyway.

i'm gonna be honest, the new battling style is exactly the kind of mechanic i love pokemon for not having. i do not want my success to be potentially dependent on my hand-eye coordination, reaction times, or spacial reasoning.
are accuracy checks still going to be a thing, or are they removing some of the random chance aspects of the game?
if the latter, i understand why they made the choice- i know a lot of people dislike saying prayers to rnjesus. i just think that the luck factor is something that makes pokemon great, and i really, really hope that this, like the strong/agile style attacks, stays to legends and doesn't show up in gen 10.
i love pokemon because it is an rpg that you can excel at purely by being smart about it. i can get smarter. i can learn from strategic mistakes and make a better plan. but if i've learned anything in the almost 20 years i've been playing video games, my skill ceiling if it requires skills beyond thinking and point and click is VERY low.
"rethink your strategy" is a much more interesting path to success for me than "get better hands". and i know that with a tanky enough team, yeah i probably could just stand my ground, tank the attacks, and just not engage with the mechanic, but that's a shit position to be in.
yes this is literally skill issue cope, but i also think that it is fair to have qualms with what looks to be a near complete change from the game's core mechanic.

You Started It
Tomura Shigaraki x reader
Here's 76: “you started it!” Thanks for requesting this one @scary-grace and @shigarakislaughter I had other ideas but this kind of wrote itself so if you had anything else in mind, I can write another one [prompt from this list of three word prompts, feel free to send requests and I'll be working on them in the evenings over the next few weeks!] tattoo shop AU fluff Contains: mentions of needles, heavy making out and an implied suggestive comment (this is like pg-13), and it was clearly written by someone slightly shorter than Tomura so I guess mentally change the descriptions however you want.
Tumblr media
The neon green ‘tattoo’ light in the window flickers. It’s been doing that on and off for weeks now, driving you all crazy. Probably fixable, you think every time you see it happening but none of you remember to do anything about it when you do have a free moment. You make a mental note.
Right now is not the time though.
Right now, you’re gloved-up and coating everything in a disinfectant so intense you’re not really sure how it’s legally available to the public. The clock rolls over to seven pm, it’s a late start to your day but in the slow season you’ll take what you can get. Tomura in the adjacent station is halfway through another huge video game tattoo on his roommate. Dabi’s client is looking at their new tattoo in the mirror. The others didn’t bother to show up, having no one on the schedule.
“Are you using my bottles?” you ask Tomura, staring the answer down in front of him.
“Grabbed the wrong ones earlier, just use mine.”
“Ughh,” you groan at him, grabbing his and spraying them with more cleaner than you’d typically use. “You better scrub those really well. Last time you used mine I found ink on them after.”
“I know how to clean,” Tomura rolls his eyes at you.
“No dude, you're fucking gross sometimes,” yells Dabi from across the room while he bandages the tattoo he just finished.
“Hey,” Tomura complains over his shoulder, “don't say that in front of my client.”
“Your client is Spinner. Doesn't count,” you laugh.
“Hey, I count!” yells Spinner, while Tomura grumbles at him to stop moving.
“You know what I mean, you know him,” you quip back while wiping down your station. “I've seen how he is in here, and this is work. There's no way he isn’t an absolute slob at home.”
“Hah!” exclaims Spinner, once more prompting Tomura to groan at him before the latter puts all of his weight over the former's thigh to force him to stay still. “No, you’re right. He’s definitely a mess at home.”
“I clean fine,” Tomura mumbles.
You watch as Spinner winces slightly at Tomura dry wiping his leg in retaliation before continuing, “you are capable of cleaning fine, absolutely. But your bedroom is full of trash and takeout boxes at any given time. So no, I wouldn't say that you're clean.”
“I'm busy,” Tomura grumbles, eyes flicking in your direction to see your reaction. His face flushes behind locks of long white hair. It's pretty, but you've always wondered how he can work like that. This sparks a bickering conversation between the two of them regarding what constitutes ‘busy,’ but you tune them out in favor of the work you need to do.
A few minutes later, everything is wiped, wrapped, and organized. With your station ready, you wait. Hovering just close enough to see the lines on Spinner’s leg come together. It looks amazing.
Watching Tomura work is fascinating. As much as you love making fun of him, he's good at what he does. He also has nice hands, you note, paying careful attention to the way they flex through the gloves he's wearing. Plus, he's cute when he's concentrating. His eyes squint and he bites his bottom lip every time he has to pull a long line. It’s a face you’ve memorized. You find yourself staring at him a lot. He probably notices, but you don’t really care.
Shortly after you first started working here, he asked you out. And like an idiot, you said no. Not wanting to mix your work and personal life (even if he is one of the most attractive humans you've ever met in an ethereal way that makes you wonder how he even exists.) At the time, you thought it probably wasn’t a big deal for him. Making the assumption that he asks people out on a regular basis because every other guy here does (which is valid, because they’re all attractive and that usually goes well for them.) However, putting together everything you’ve seen and what Spinner has said about Tomura’s personal life, you don’t think he goes on any dates even if he easily could.
You think about it a lot. Running through every outcome of how things would have been different if you’d said yes. How the date would have gone. If you'd still joke like you do. You love spending time with him. Sometimes you even wonder if he has any interest now that he's actually gotten to know you.
Probably not you decide, trying to shut the thought out of your mind.
Toga from the front desk brings your client back. Perfect timing for a distraction.
Tumblr media
It's a little past eleven when Toga turns off the neon ‘open’ sign, dims the lights, and locks the door for the evening.
“Have a good night!” she yells before exiting through the back door and disappearing down the street. Dabi left a few hours ago which just leaves you and Tomura still putting things away after cleaning up for the night.
“Why'd you let Dabi tattoo you yesterday,” he asks while replacing your shared paper towel roll.
“Because I liked the drawing he did and I wanted it as a tattoo.”
“You like my drawings too, you said so.” You nod. “So, why haven't you let me tattoo you yet?”
You didn't want to ask and be imposing or take too much of his time since he never offered to tattoo you, like Dabi who offered to trade, but more importantly: “Are you…jealous?”
“No, of course not,” Tomura says the words but his voice gives him away.
“Oh. Well, I'd love to get tattooed from you sometime. Whenever you have time.” At the last minute you add sarcastically, “as long as you aren't too busy to clean everything before.”
He scoffs at you, walking around  the table to where your bottles are sitting (thankfully spotless, you note) on his tray. You grab two but he gets the third.
“And for that,” he says holding it over his head, just out of your reach, “you're not getting this back.”
Okay. You'll bite.
“Really?” you ask, trying to reach for it to no avail. Instead, you switch to using both hands to try to bring his arm down but he's surprisingly strong. You could tickle him but you aren't sure if he's ticklish. He seems like he would be though and he'd probably end up squeezing the bottle and spraying soap everywhere for you both to deal with.
“Come on, give it back. You're so mean to me,” you pout but there's no real bite to your words.
“You started it!” he retorts.
“Oh yeah? How did I start it?” you ask, still hanging off his extended arm.
“By being mean to me first.”
“Fine then. Tomura, can you please give me the soap bottle back?”
“Hmmm. What are you going to do for it?” he smirks at you, flirting? Suddenly, you realize how close the two of you are standing. Your feet are firmly planted on either side of his worn red skate shoes, chests pressed together.
“What do you want me to do for it?”
“I don't know,” he furrows his brow, “didn't think that far ahead.”
You try to shove him playfully but having just mopped, the floor is slippery. The two of you lose balance slightly before his free hand wraps around your waist to steady you. Your hands are gripping his shirt and you're close. Very close.
His body feels warm against yours and firmer than you expected. You’re not sure why you thought he’d be bonier, but ‘toned guy who spends all of his free time playing video games alone’ isn’t a phrase that typically makes sense. Here you are though. In your surprise, you find your hands exploring more of him than you consciously chose to - running your fingers down his chest, around his ribs, and down the curve of his spine. In response, he wraps his other arm around you, bottle laying forgotten on the tray behind him.
First you kiss his cheek, making tentative contact with his dry, but surprisingly soft, skin. His hold on you tightens as he exhales shakily. Slowly, you kiss your way across his face until your lips find his. They’re chapped, like usual, so you’re careful to not shove into him too hard.
He isn’t.
His mouth moves desperately on yours. Kissing you passionately with force, like he’s trying to suck your soul from your body. You feel his fingertips digging into your shoulders, pulling you in as close as he can. Without breaking the connection, you push him a few steps back onto the table he just finished cleaning, climbing over his lap and straddle him as he lays back. He grabs your new tattoo on accident before immediately letting go at your slight recoil. Eventually, his hands find a safe place on your hips and yours tangle their way into his hair, which is also surprisingly soft for how messy he usually wears it. The two of you stay like this for a while, losing track of time. Not caring who can see you making out through the floor to ceiling windows as they pass.
You pull back for air, opening your eyes to look down at him. He’s beautiful, even in the limited lighting.
He smiles up at you. His teeth are cute and crooked in a way that perfectly suits his face. You lean in again, kissing him with less urgency this time.
“Does this mean you changed your mind?” his lips move over yours as he speaks.
“Hmm?” you hum, too lost in the moment to figure out what he's referring to.
“Am I good enough now?” you pull away fully to see his face.
“What are you talking about? Good enough for what?” you ask, still staring at him in a daze.
“To date you. You said no when I asked but you still seem into me. I figured you had a reason so I’ve been trying to be better.” When you don’t respond immediately, he jumps to more conclusions. “Is it the cleaning thing? Because that only happened once and I said I was sorry.”
“No, it's not that. It wasn't that. It wasn't anything you did. Uhm, that doesn't really matter right now.” You move a strand of hair out of his face, watching as he melts to your touch. “You’re definitely good enough,” you whisper, “what are you doing tonight?”
His mouth cracks open to give the most obviously flirty answer before biting his bottom lip for a moment and thinking it through. “No plans, but I’ve been working since two without a break so I’m not up for much.”
“That’s okay,” you murmur back, “want to get takeout and watch a movie or something?”
“Yeah,” he smiles at you again and the world spins. The two of you stand, grabbing your jackets to leave, and make your way out the door.
Tonight will be cute, fun. You’re not worried about the stray bottles you left between your stations. Or the few paper towels that didn’t make it into the trash can. You're not even thinking about the security camera footage that will inevitably be circulating between everyone in the shop before you both show up to work tomorrow.

So we finally got a proper Legends: Z-A trailer
Saw a few other people posting their thoughts, so I figured I might as well join in because I do have a lot to say and not too many people to say it to. So here's what's going through my head looking through the trailer and website.
Long post ahead.
I was right. I told y'all and I was right and I am going to be smug about it because I said so. Present. Freaking. Day. I said the clothes in the reveal trailer proved it wasn't set in the past and I. Was. Right. Could still be time travel involved I suppose, but the majority of the game is set in the present and I am vindicated.
I wonder if the train station we arrive in, or I guess I'm just assuming this is a train station, is the same one that takes you to Kiloude in XY. Still want to know what "the usual place" is and if it has anything to do with the ghost girl.
Tumblr media
The male protagonist kinda looks like Professor Sycamore to me. I wonder if we're gonna be a nepo baby in this game.
No gym logo on Prism Tower anymore. Which could mean anything really.
Actually a little disappointed about the "wild zones," I'd have preferred to see the Pokémon just out and about wherever. I think they may still be? But just mostly confined to these places. Bit of a bummer, not that bad.
Tumblr media
The starter trio is...weird. I am disappointed to see that neither Snivy nor Piplup are part of it, feels like that was done on purpose just to subvert expectations. But subverted expectations don't guarantee the surprise is better, y'know? But yeah, Chikorita, Tepig, and Totodile. I mean I don't dislike any of them, I'm happy to see them getting some love, they desperately need it. But having two of them be from Johto is really strange. Kanto and Hoenn probably weren't options because their starters already have Megas, but that still left Sinnoh, Alola, and Galar to pick from. So here's hoping they've just got something really good cooked up for both Meganium and Feraligatr that they just couldn't wait to show off. I'm really not sure if this game will follow in the footsteps of the previous Legends game and give us regional forms for these guys, or if they'll just get Megas instead. Both is possible, but unlikely, while just Megas feel like the most likely. Which kinda sucks because I like regional forms and would like to see more, but Kalos is the Mega region, sooo... I mean they could give these guys regional variants and then give us Megas for the Kalos starters and have us get one of them a la how we got a Mega Kanto starter in XY, but that's pure speculation. Anyway, these guys are neat, if a little odd. I like 'em fine. Also first time getting two quadrupeds in one starter trio so that's cool. Yeah Tepig's gonna stand up but it's still a first for the base forms.
Looks like the catching system works the same as it did in Arceus, which suits me just fine, because I had a lot of fun with that.
Ooh, we can go on rooftops. I notice, though, that there's no sign of catacombs yet. Still holding on to that little hope. Come on Game Freak, it's a whole game set in Poké-Paris, there have to be catacombs.
Rival picks the starter weak to yours. Lame.
Tumblr media
Okay, so real time battles. That is...very interesting. I doubt this will become a series staple, at least in the mainline games. The turn-based Pokémon metagame is far too deep, intricate, and honestly well-crafted for them to just throw it out, but it is a neat idea for a pseudo side game like this. The faster pace will make the battles less methodical, less about taking your time and coming up with strategy and more about thinking on your feet, which could be a neat challenge. And I'm looking forward to seeing how certain moves' mechanics change in relation to this new system. The above screenshot, for example, shows a Lucario using Protect, which is normally not a very good move for playthroughs as it doesn't do much in most single battles other than waste a turn, but now in this game it will be invaluable. Being able to completely block an enemy attack without worrying about dodging and repositioning is incredible. It looks like each move is on a cooldown timer too, so you can't just hammer away with the same move over and over again. Guess that keeps the battles more dynamic. Also I wonder if this means they'll do away with PP. More powerful moves may just take longer to recharge. Hmm. There's a lot more I could say here, but I don't want this post to go on forever. Still this is neat, especially since I've been musing a lot lately on the differences between battles in the games vs how they're depicted in the anime and such.
I see the player character still has a dodge roll, so I assume the Pokémon can still kill us? Hope so, that was a big part of the fun last time.
Tumblr media
So Mega Pokémon are all permanently iridescent now? I...actually don't mind that, it looks kinda nice. Sorta reminds me of the Terastallization crystallized effect. Pretty. Also I like the new bronze-coloured Mega Ring. Also pretty.
So the CEO is evil, right? That's kinda the way these things work in Pokémon. Of course it could be a double bluff and she's actually chill because they know we're expecting that trope by now, but we'll see. The big manly man secretary with the Pancham and Buneary hair ornaments in his man bun is cute though.
Tumblr media
They put AZ in a SUIT?? Man looks clean! Like he even washed his hair! And he's smiling! He recovered and he's actually happy! Oh you love to see it. Still though, my guy, I get that you're three meters tall, but you live in Poké-Paris. You could have found a tailor. So I guess the stitched together clothes are a fashion statement.
Also we are so getting that Floette.
I never noticed that Zygarde 10% has a butthole before. A hexagonal one at that.
Looks like some parts of the city are still under construction. There's scaffolding up. That's cool, adds more of a 3D element to the environment. I do like climbing things.
Also, speaking of the city, it's split into five sections, and now they're all colour-coded. Which is kinda funny looking, but I mean I'm here for it. The colours match the plazas Lumiose had in XY that were named after colours...almost. The red section is where Magenta Plaza should be, and the section where Rouge Plaza should be is a very pale pink. So did they change the order, or are these colours someone's very mixed up idea of what magenta and red look like?
Okay so the rival is the protagonist you didn't pick with a palette swap and wardrobe change. That's cool, it's been a while since we've seen that. I mean I guess Arceus did it, but that was to match DP having Lucas and Dawn appear in game. The last time it happened with totally new characters was...XY. Huh. And of course changing their look is totally new. The names are a little goofy though. Urbain and Taunie. Sometimes Pokémon can be subtle with the protagonists' and rivals' names, but Urban and Townie here are not an example of that.
Speaking of, no names for the protags yet, but they are totally new designs, not makeovers of Calem and Serena, at least not obviously. I wonder if they'll be referenced at all. I highly doubt either will actually appear, but some mention of "the hero who stopped Team Flare x years ago" would be pretty standard Pokémon fare.
It is interesting how things in the wild zones seem to have just been left as they are. Like they weren't cleared out or turned into parks, there are cars left crooked on the side of the road and tables and chairs abandoned where they sat. I wonder if that's going to be a point of tension in the plot, people opposing the redevelopment plan because they were forced out of their homes. Seems unlikely for Pokémon to get into anything like that too deeply, but they may touch on it. Why do they look like that?
Tumblr media
Sooo that's a Chikorita that knows Disarming Voice, which it cannot learn by any means in the mainline games. I smell a Grass/Fairy Meganium form in our future. Mega or regional, whichever. Tepig is shown using Rollout and Totodile is shown to know Bite, but both of them learn those moves normally, so that's no guarantee of Rock or Dark types for them. Fairy moves are new for Chikorita though, very very new.
Either that is the world's tiniest Onix, or Pokémon won't be properly scaled in this game. Again :/ Come on guys, you made it work last time. Yeah, visible size variation has been a thing in the last couple games, so maybe there's hope, but that itty bitty Onix sucks to see.
Tumblr media
Okay hold up. Bottom right corner. It looks like Mega Evolution is on a timer. Don't tell me it just ends after that runs out. Oh I don't like that. Not at all. The whole point of Mega Evolution is that it's once per battle but it lasts the entire battle. That better not mean it only lasts until that timer runs out, that just makes it reskinned Dynamax. But I don't know what else that could mean. Ugh. Not a fan of that, no sir.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
LOOKER BUREAU SPOTTED!!! Oh please tell me we get to check in on Emma. I would love that.
Tumblr media
Okay, so this is the last thing shown in the trailer. A logo showing what looks to be the Prism Tower with a Poké Ball atop it, just after the text, "PROMOTION MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT." So what I would assume that means is that there are some kind of promotional battles, maybe a tournament, being held in Prism Tower? Possibly to fund the redevelopment project? I expect they'll use this to have a bunch of old characters show up with updated designs, which I love, so consider me stoked.

seventeen as my memorable school experiences
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
♫ pairing, seventeen x reader ♫ warnings, fluff, unserious/crack, non-idol au, very short, headcanons, debut/high school age seventeen, cliches, cursing, kind of dramatic, my personal stories
♫ author's note, hi everyone 😞 school and deadlines have been driving me insane so i'll be semi-active until further notice 🧍 ANYWAYS wanted something fun (slightly unserious) and quick, so i thought of this idea! these are all in good fun so don't worry 🤍 without further ado enjoy these headcanons (and tell me if you like them/want more of this format!)
seungcheol would definitely be the type of guy to hold the littlest things over you 😭 definitely one to pull the "I'm older than you" or "I'm stronger than you" card in literally every situation 🧍 you know the kid that was like "i'm so fast i can run here and back in three seconds"? seungcheol would be the one doing that, and trip over something and face-plant 💀 i would not take him seriously let me tell you that
jeonghan teacher's pet 100 percent LMAO definitely the type of person to tell on someone when they're not doing something they "should" be doing. has to be the teacher's helper, passing out papers and running errands for them. jeonghan would be the sly one that is actually one of the most unruly ass students but gets away because he sucks up to the teacher 😭
joshua he'd be the popular transfer student that everyone would be focused on for like a week. he's the talk of the school okay 😭 has that generic 2010 gelled/swooped to the side hair with a button-up for sureee joshua is the kid who's really polite and sweet and has the teacher singing his praises, but when he gets around the right people, he cannot be stopped
jun jun's the really quiet one you forget even exists sometimes 😭 your teacher is taking attendance and says "who are we missing" and you say someone jun, while everyone else is yelling another person 🧍like no jun's sitting right behind you, he's just really quiet. (part two of getting around the right people and being loud)
hoshi hoshi is that one kid that cannot be embarrassed by himself. he will do the most cringy things known to mankind, and still be able to walk away normally after it 💀 does not care about what he likes (definitely an anime kid i feel it in my soul), and makes references that no one gets. people are scared to have to be his class partner let me tell you 🧍
wonwoo not be overused or anything but i seriously do see wonwoo as a gamer boy 💀 my childhood best friend (who goes to school w me & is in my class) is an absolute dork when it comes to video games. wonwoo would be the person to bring a sketchbook skilled fo video game characters 🧍 would also be the person to listen to video game osts while doing homework/assignments
woozi part two of "the really quiet kid you forget even exists sometimes" LMAO woozi is definitely to be the one in the back of the classroom minding his business, doing his work, or sleeping. woozi can be funny, but just doesn't feel like trying 🤷 has great timing with the things he says and makes the whole class laugh
the8 did (or do) you know that one kid that would correct your grammar or pronounciation without your consent? the8 would SO be that kid omg 😭 lord forbid you stutter around him cause he'll go straight to mocking you for it. the8 would be such a stickler w that i fear (i can just imagine you having him read something you've written and there he is correcting your run-on sentences 💀)
mingyu there's this one kid i see walking around in the hallways of my school with a mop of curly hair shielding his eyes 🧍 that just screams mingyu to me LMAO idk he tries so hard to be cool and hip but it just doesn't work 😭 considered one of the more popular people of the class, even if it's just because he's "mysterious".
dk he's definitely the type of person to make you come undone with an "are you okay?" or bunches of compliments CHANGE MY MIND i have a friend who's so good at coaxing feelings & tears out of me w a simple "hey, are you okay?", and i feel like dk would be the same way 😭 gives you a hug every day when you're leaving, and texts you on school holidays/breaks because he "misses human interaction" ("i miss you so bad ☹" "seokmin it's been 2 hours since i last saw you")
seungkwan theatre kid or choir kid 🤷 also probably has his mom working as a teacher so has those privileges to where he can visit his mom's class and participate in a bunch of things since his mom is already at the school 🧍probably also a generic popular girl too LMAO hears things from other people and spreads it professionally (probably to the8: if you see them two conversing and looking at you, 9/10 you're being secretly roasted)
vernon debut vernon to me screams "random boy every girl in your grade liked with a windshield wiper laugh and thick, brown wavy hair" 🤷 had this one boy in 3rd grade that EVERY SINGULAR GIRL THOUGHT WAS CUTE. also probably says cringe things (ex: dude, bro, fire, lit, sike, etc) unironically because he has an image to uphold or something. please don't make him laugh really hard (you'll hear this squeaky grating sound that makes you want to stuff your head in your backpack)
dino dino is the popular boy by association 😭 he's not really popular on his own, but when with vernon/mingyu suddenly multiplies in popularity. he's actually a really chill, down-to-earth dude LMAO lord forbid he makes a terrible joke though 💀 he'll be so embarrassed he'll shut down and never come back. would friends with vernon and probably practices the windshield wiper laugh in his bathroom at home 🧍
a/n: lowkey very cliche and personal but still fun/comforting to write (speaking with experiencing most of these things firsthand LMAOAOOA!! tell me what you think about it LMAO

i be here— ready to cheer💕💕
Due to you being blood, Tymon will respect you marrying Elayna should you do so.
OH SHIT???? JOHANNA???
It would also help alleviate the rumors swirling as to why you have yet to marry
just let the man be a little gay goddamn
In the early years after they ended their illicit relationship, he might attribute the joy as ungentlemanly eagerness, despite him being the one to break it off.
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD TYLAND AND JOHANNA LORE OH MY GOD
If he is entirely honest with himself, which he does try to practice given most of Jason's flaws stem from a lack of self-awareness…
um i think i’m obsessed with Tyland? i think i’m in love? how is this happening??? so quickly???
Abrogail and Larys Strong stand amongst the crowd, which is expected given their uncle and niece are arriving.
OOOOOO HEY ABBY!!!!!!!
He slides them as he would beads on an abacus. Later, he shall sort everyone and figure out specifics, but for now, all he needs is numbers.
OBSESSED with this glimpse into Tyland’s psyche and how he both manages and plays the proverbial “game of thrones”
Otto's appraisals tend to be favorable when the subject doesn't back down or flinch.
I LOVE SEEING INTO TYLAND’S MIND OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD
“I'm heartened to see Lia joining us.”
OOOOOOO HEY LIA!!!!!!
The wheelhouses roll in, the Lannister's first and the Reynes following.
i literally got so caught up in the story that i forgot that i was trying to pull out the bits i liked the most whoopsies
Both behave exactly as they should. Yet Tymon almost smirks as he observes the crowd, his eyes lighting in an almost cruel way, a shark surveying for his next meal. By contrast, Cerelle's cool appraisal, while still an assessment, comes off as more intrigued than anything else. She surveys everyone with an air of excitement.
LOVE this breakdown of how quickly Tyland sees and reads, accurately, the changes in Tymon and Cerelle. such a good look into how Tyland moves those people around his abacus!!
Assuming the worst of family isn't a good look.
fucking TYMON oh my LORD
Perhaps it's best Tymon sees him as useless and aging.
oooooo Tyland’s got your fucking playbook Tymon, get FUCKED
He must speak with Alon anyway. It might be prudent to go out of his way to befriend Alon.
hmmmm would it now👀👀
Tyland instinctively knows Elayna would ruin him were he a younger man.
babe i’m pretty sure she’s gonna ruin now as an older man— but whatever helps you sleep better at night my guy
I AM OBSESSED WITH THE WHOLE SEQUENCE WHERE TYLAND NOTICES THAT ELAYNA MOVES PEOPLE AROUND LIKE HIM. like i literally cannot pull out a favorite line because id just be copy and pasting the entire thing. the joy and nervousness in Tyland as he sees it, betraying him to still be that young man on the inside who is about to be ruined by Elayna. Tyland wanting desperately for Elayna to see it in him as well, and then she DOES. it’s so good. it’s just so good.
Much to his surprise, Cerelle looks at Elayna with a strangely wistful expression, one Tyland is intimately acquainted with.
NOT THE SAPPHIC SADNESS AHHHHHHHHHH
once again got sucked into the story and completely forgot to pull out my favorite bits of text because it’s all just so GOOD
OH MY GOD THE CONVERSATION BETWEEN TYLAND AND ALON!!!!!!! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO HAVE COHERENT THOUGHTS WHEN YOUR WRITING IS SO GOOD???????? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO THINK ABOUT ALON’S SICKNESS WHEN IT MAKES ME SO SAD????? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FATHOM THE IDEA OF ALON KNOWING WHAT HE WANTS FOR ELAYNA BUT ALSO KNOWING THAT MUST BE HER CHOICE?????? EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT CONVERSATION MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM AT THE SKY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
no coherent thoughts. only Alon and Elayna. and also Tyland.
Wheel of Fortune: The Fool (Emperor, Upright)
Tumblr media
Story summary: Elayna Reyne often imagines herself being someone and making a name for herself but only in the way young girls do. Unfortunately, when Elayna makes her way to King's Landing as one of Cerelle Lannister's ladies-in-waiting, Elayna finds dreams come with a price. Chapter summary: The Lannisters and Reynes arrive at King's Landing. Tyland begins the process of sorting and accounting for changes they may cause. Word count: ~6.5k Author's note: I want to thank @writingbylee and @baba-fett because y'all are always some of my biggest cheerleaders. I also want to think @emilykaldwen and @ewanmitchellcrumbs for letting me borrow Abby and Lia respectively. It means so much that y'all trust me with your OCs!!! Masterlist , Previous chapter
My good brother,
I apologize for my lack of letters as of late. Cerelle and Tymon's eight and tenth nameday is almost a moon away, and much preparation is to be done, both for the festivities and for their futures.
Both their father and I agree it is time both come to the Red Keep. We have ensured a place for Cerelle as one of Princess Helaena's ladies-in-waiting. Tymon shan't be staying as long. I bring him merely so he may begin to make more thorough connections. It will be good for both of them, and I trust both of them to take initiative.
I have a favor to ask of you. It is a large ask, but I fear no one else can help me. I would not mention this if it weren't important.
Tymon has taken an interest in Alon's daughter, Elayna. Despite multiple conversations, he cannot be deterred. He is determined to marry her. While the marriage is advantageous on paper, a union between Tymon and Elayna is ill advised. Most marriages learn to work towards a common good. I cannot see the two of them achieving a point of equanimity.
My son is headstrong, as I'm sure you have picked up on from my letters. Normally, this attribute is beneficial, but it isn't in this particular instance. This is where I must ask a favor from you. Tymon will not respect most men. Due to you being blood, Tymon will respect you marrying Elayna should you do so.
Alon shall join us on the trip to King's Landing, and he can speak with you more about this idea. We have conversed about it so this will not come as a surprise to him. Don't take this to mean I do not care for Elayna; I see much potential in her. I have done all I can for her, but the refinement she is in need of is not something I am equipped to deal with. You are in a much better position to do so.
It is an advantageous match. It may help open some of the few doors still closed to you. It would also help alleviate the rumors swirling as to why you have yet to marry. Ordinarily, I don't grant rumors and whispers my attention, but they have turned nasty as of late.
We shall leave in two moons time, not too long after the festivities. It shall be nice to see you again. Your presence is missed here.
Your friend,
Johanna
Tyland reads over the letter once again. The letter is nearly 3 moons old, and he keeps other, more recent, correspondence from her since then, but the contents of this one interest him still. Johanna’s preference for not sugar coating the truth behooves, and occasionally amuses, him. He places it back on his desk and pads over to his study window. The carriages should be there within the next several hours. This shall not be the last time he checks; he is inexorably drawn to the window, waiting and watching, eagerly awaiting Johanna’s arrival.
Tyland no longer feels strange when he sees her. In the early years after they ended their illicit relationship, he might attribute the joy as ungentlemanly eagerness, despite him being the one to break it off. Now, his joy stems from seeing an old friend. Truth be told, Tyland almost prefers her friendship to their scandalous affair. Hiding it still makes him sick with anxiety and worry, the fear of being found out never going away entirely. Distance doesn't always doom love, but it certainly destroys affairs.
In the late hours of the night, Tyland catches himself wondering if Cerelle and Tymon might be his. The others are not, he knows this for a fact. No proof exists, but the thought sticks in his mind.
Tyland sighs. He shakes his head in an attempt to clear it, banish all distractions. He drums his fingers on the windowsill. Johanna rarely asks much of him yet this request sours in his mouth. Perhaps it is the acknowledgement of the rumors as to why he hasn't married yet. Even now, despite everything he has achieved, people gossip about him. The longer he waits, the more people question why. None are so bold as to say directly what they think, but he hears the term “bachelor” thrown around in hushed whispers.
Tyland runs his hands over his face. He should at least get to know Elayna, he supposes. It wouldn't hurt. He looks out his study window once more, pursing his lips together. If he is entirely honest with himself, which he does try to practice given most of Jason's flaws stem from a lack of self-awareness, Tyland hesitates at the idea of giving up his current life. While the constant barrage of letters irritate him, he enjoys the freedom he has. He inhales and slowly exhales.
“I shall give it a chance.” Tyland murmurs.
It would be an advantageous match, both for his family and for himself. Jason's hubris and inattentive nature endangers them; taking advantage of Jason's foibles would be easy if it weren't for Johanna. Marrying the only Reyne daughter strengthens the bonds and takes away any incentive of undermining or rebellion. It also strengthen his position, incentives forward movement, perhaps towards Master of Coins.
Tyland nods.
It isn't a terrible idea. He can't truly judge how good of an idea it is until he meets Elayna, but on paper, it is a fairly solid suggestion, certainly one he'll take under advisement.
********************************************
Tyland stands in the courtyard. The arrival of the Lannisters and Reynes causes buzz, and more people stand with the greeting party than he expects. Despite it not being for him and his family, pride creeps through him and settles in his chest. Abrogail and Larys Strong stand amongst the crowd, which is expected given their uncle and niece are arriving. Queen Alicent and Otto stand among them, again not a surprise due to Otto's first wife being a Reyne as well. Truly, more people stand in attendance than Tyland expects, and the sight raises his spirits significantly.
Tyland rolls Johanna’s suggestion around in his head as he notes who stands in the courtyard and on the steps, each person's ties and allegiance a number in the equation. He slides them as he would beads on an abacus. Later, he shall sort everyone and figure out specifics, but for now, all he needs is numbers.
“I imagine you are excited to see your nephew and nieces.” Otto's voice almost makes Tyland start.
“I am.” Tyland smiles. “I haven't seen them in quite some time.”
Otto nods. He interlaces his fingers behind his back. Tyland watches him, keeping his best blandly happy expression on his face. He doubts Otto suspects anything, and he will not give him a reason.
“I do wish my brother was able to make the journey.” Tyland offers as a way of distraction. It isn't as if he is lying either, he does wish Jason could be here, even if he would be irritated with him before the end of the week.
“It is one of my few regrets I was not able to see my brother and nephews more. Yet I wouldn't change it. The Realm comes first.”
“A sacrifice made in name of the Realm is a worthy one.”
Otto lets out a low noise of agreement. He studies Tyland for a second, gaze cool and appraising, but Tyland stays steadfast. Information is knowledge, and Tyland gleans what he can from watching interactions. Otto's appraisals tend to be favorable when the subject doesn't back down or flinch.
“I'm heartened to see Lia joining us.”
Tyland means what he says, but it is also a self-serving statement. Changing the conversation gives Tyland a chance to breathe, releasing him from Otto's scrutiny for a moment. Few see Tyland for who he truly is. If Otto pays too much attention, he may get a peek behind the carefully crafted façade, which is not exactly what Tyland wants.
Otto doesn't need to know the full extent of Tyland’s ambitions. He doesn't need to know if things go according to plan, Tyland sees himself as Hand within the next decade, perhaps within the next five years if he plays his cards right. Otto is crafty, he surely expects Tyland desires more than Masters of Ships. However, if he sees Tyland as a threat, Tyland will gain no traction.
Better to let Otto think he aims for Master of Coins, a more than respectable position.
“Yes.” Otto turns his head. As he looks at his wife, Tyland swears Otto's jaw softens the slightest amount. He turns his attention back towards the gate. “My understanding is Alon has done much to keep the peace and ease tensions.”
Oh. Tyland tries not to blink. Tensions between the deceased wife's family and the new wife isn't a new issue, he supposes. Alon reaching out shifts dynamics, and if he reaches out to one, he surely reaches out to more. Alon may be in many people's good graces.
A bead on the abacus slides.
Thank the Seven Tyland makes time for people. He fears it may not be enough some days, given how much damage control he must do when Jason comes around, but anything helps. He loathes it, but in his sleepless moments, Tyland wishes he had been given the gift of gab. Not because he likes talking, precisely the opposite; he wishes it came easier to him because it feels so difficult and even tedious, depending on the person.
“Alon is a good man.” Tyland pauses. Oddly enough, he remembers Alon being the one to give him the idea. Not directly, of course, but Alon put the idea in Tyland’s head as an offhanded comment. With his new knowledge of Alon reaching out to Lia, Tyland wonders if it was on purpose.
He could offer the tidbit now, a fact about him that may cause Otto to look at him in a better light, but before he can, a crier catches everyone's attention. The carriages are close. Everyone in the courtyard turns towards the portcullis and gate, the chatter easing into whispers. People shuffle about the area, and Tyland moves instinctively with them as everyone shifts into their respective places. No one moves too far, they more move outward and away from clusters.
The wheelhouses roll in, the Lannister's first and the Reynes following. Tyland watches the wheelhouse eagerly. The closer he gets to seeing his family, the more his body almost vibrates. While he came here with a purpose all those years ago, he still misses his family, even Jason on occasion. He cannot say he misses everyone from Casterly Rock; a good portion of why he left is because of the people. Jason being named heir over him still stings on occasion, and the treatment after absolutely hurts. He consoles himself with his position now, but some damages cannot be undone.
Johanna exits the wheelhouse first. She looks much the same as Tyland remembers, the only sign of the years passing the wrinkles on her face. Tymon and Cerelle both stand taller than Tyland expects. He accounts for some growth, given it'd been several years since he's last laid eyes upon them, but he didn't prepare himself enough. Tymon stands almost as tall as Jason. In stature, he looks much like his father, but his eyes and facial features are more Johanna’s. Cerelle appears much the same as Tymon. Yet as Tyland looks at them, the difference between the two couldn't be plainer.
It's in their eyes.
Both exit with the appropriate amount of decorum. When her eyes land on Tyland, Cerelle smiles. She smiles at him exactly the way she did when she was a young girl, eagerly greeting him and plying him with questions about King's Landing. Tyland smiles softly back.
Otto and Alicent greet Johanna first. Tyland stands back and awaits his turn, content on observing for now. While speaking with Johanna is one of his priorities, it isn't as if another opportunity won't present itself. Besides, if his nearly 20 years of being at court has taught him anything, appearing too eager to speak with someone will not only raise eyebrows but also invite unwanted eavesdroppers when the important conversion occurs.
When Johanna turns away from Otto and Alicent and towards him, Tyland takes his cue. He steps forward.
“Johanna.”
“Tyland.” Johanna’s tone warms up when she addresses him. They step towards each other but remain the appropriate distance apart, although the distance is still much closer than Johanna stands to most. “It is good to see you.”
“ ‘Tis good to see you as well. It has been far too long.”
“Uncle.” Tymon steps forward, hands clasped behind his back. “You look well.”
Were Tyland a fool, he might believe Tymon's words. Unfortunately for Tymon, Tyland was not born yesterday. While Tymon's tone is convincing, he nearly looks through Tyland. Tyland suspects he only doesn't because he is kin.
“Tymon. As do you. You are much taller than I remember.”
Irritation flashes briefly through Tymon's eyes, not true anger but the aggravation of talking with a doddering relative. It hurts for a second, but Tyland pushes past it. While it does sting, being seen as old is to his advantage; Tymon will stay out of his way if he perceives Tyland as useless. Guilt briefly washes over Tyland. Assuming the worst of family isn't a good look.
“Uncle!” Cerelle nearly chirps. She sounds genuine in her greeting unlike her brother. Out of the pair, Cerelle holds a soft spot in Tyland’s heart. He suspects she exploits it on occasion, as young adult are wont to do, but he doesn't mind as much as he should. Cerelle at least has the decency to treat him as family, no matter how long it's been since he's last seen them.
“Cerelle. ‘Tis good to see you. Your mother told me you have good news?”
“I do. ‘Tis very exciting news.” Cerelle nearly beams. Tymon's upper lip twitches.
“We both have exciting news.” Tymon corrects Cerelle.
“And I am at liberty to discuss mine.” Cerelle's matter of fact tone nearly makes Tyland raise an eyebrow. He looks at Johanna out of the corner of his eyes, wondering the exact nature of Tymon's news. Johanna’s displeasure is brief but strong. Tymon must catch it for he smiles, stiff but a smile nonetheless.
“Forgive me. Your news is more pertinent.”
Interesting. Tymon sounds surprisingly sincere, which feels at odds with the knowledge his apology isn't of his own volition. Still, Tyland zeroes in on the slight smirk, a brief twitch of Tymon's lips betraying him.
Perhaps it's best Tymon sees him as useless and aging.
The footman announces the beginning of the Reynes leaving their wheelhouse. Cerelle and Tymon slot themselves neatly beside Johanna and Tyland.
Tyland finds himself waiting with almost baited breath. However long it has been since he's seen his family, it's been much longer since he's seen Lord Reyne. Rumors swirl about Alon's health. Normally, Tyland pays them no heed, but given he has the opportunity to find out for himself, he is a little curious.
Alon demounts.
The rumors clearly come from how Alon looks. Alon stands much taller than most normally, but he almost seems shorter today. Tyland almost raises an eyebrow when he sees Alon with a cane. A quick glance over at Johanna confirms Tyland isn't seeing things; Johanna turns her head at the same time Tyland does and nods when Tyland does lift an eyebrow. She doesn't mouth anything yet her look conveys it all. Johanna shall tell him about it when she gets the chance. Tyland turns his attention back to the wheelhouse.
Hopefully all isn't as it seems. Alon sits at nearly 30 years of ruling Castamere, longer than many live. His death portends changes, no doubt massive ones. Tyland glances over at Otto. Of course, when those changes happen, Tyland will be questioned. He purses his lips together. He must speak with Alon anyway. It might be prudent to go out of his way to befriend Alon. Certainly, he doesn't think it would hurt.
Elayna is next to exit the wheelhouse. When Elayna descends, Tyland’s gaze focuses on her. A quiet feeling builds within his gut. Without speaking a word to her, Tyland instinctively knows Elayna would ruin him were he a younger man. She's gorgeous, and the way she carries herself makes it clear she is aware of this fact. Watching her brings memories of the women his age at Casterly Rock, the ones who marry early because many sought them out.
She surveys the crowd with an air of nervousness and excitement in equal measure, but Tyland sees a quiet coldness lurking beneath the surface. It's in her eyes. They're wide with awe yet it isn't fixed. When her eyes move from person to person, the awe and apprehension slip, not overt enough most would notice but enough Tyland notes it. The look is no longer alarming but almost familiar, stirring a sense of recognition within him.
Elayna counts. Elayna counts like him.
Elayna sits with her own abacus, pulling the people along the track into where she thinks they belong. Obviously, others do the same. Sitting on the Small Council gives Tyland a perfect view of how many people scheme and plot here, but they move people differently than him. Tyland stares at Elayna for a moment, waiting for the expression to return. Words aren't his speciality, numbers are, meaning he couldn't explain why he recognizes she moves people like him, at least on the initial step. Yet he feels it within his bones and chest, sensation spreading from his heart and disseminating outward, she's like him.
Still, the worry from earlier gnaws at him, tempering his elation. Her counting is merely the first step, how she sorts and what she does are two different steps entirely. As surely as he recognizes Elayna is like him, he also sees the differences begin. Being wanted by others sets them apart. Tyland hears of it happening every year, how young men and women who are desired become different once they realize the hold they have over others.
“Don't let her smile fool you.” Tymon's voice nearly makes Tyland jump. He realizes, rather belated, he was staring at Elayna. Tyland turns his head. Tymon keeps his gaze forward. “She may seem friendly, but I assure you, she is not.”
“Oh?” Tyland arches an eyebrow.
“Yes. I made the mistake of befriending Elayna before I truly got to know her, and while Lord Reyne is content with his position, his daughter strives for more. If you understand my meaning.” Tymon sniffs. “I don't like using the word ambitious towards women because it seems... ugly.”
It seems Johanna wasn't exaggerating in her letter. Tyland merely nods.
“I see.”
What can he say to such a statement? Tymon presses his lips together. He stares at Alon and Elayna, watching intently as both Queen Alicent and Otto greet them. Tymon exhales after a long minute. His fingers flex against his sides.
“Cerelle will corroborate.”
Of course Tyland gazes at Cerelle, intent on gauging her reaction. Much to his surprise, Cerelle looks at Elayna with a strangely wistful expression, one Tyland is intimately acquainted with. Cerelle clears her throat.
“Perhaps we should speak with others. I don't wish to monopolize your time, Uncle.” Cerelle's mask falls perfectly into place, an excited young girl once more. Tyland turns towards Johanna.
“Shall we have supper together? Tomorrow night?”
Tyland offers not only out of politeness but also curiosity. It gives him an excuse to pry and find out more, unearth the history clearly at play here. Besides, Johanna will no doubt want to speak with him as soon as possible. Johanna dips her head.
“Yes. That would be nice.”
The three of them move towards the next group. Tyland presses his lips together. Already, he must exchange his abacus for a more useful instrument. These new pieces of information cannot be slid, he must analyze them.
The sound of a cane on stone makes him turn. Alon and Elayna approach him, Ryman lingering behind them.
“Ser Tyland. It has been quite some time.”
“Lord Reyne. It has indeed.”
“This is my daughter, Elayna.” Alon gestures to Elayna. Elayna curtsies. Tyland dips his head in response. When she stands once more, their eyes meet. Tyland waits with baited breath for a sign, an indication, she recognizes they are alike in some manner. The hope is juvenile, a fleeting and foolish emotion, but it burns within him.
He sees it. Tyland’s eyes catch hers as she appraises him. Her eyes widen, guilt crossing her face. Tyland smiles, not for politeness sake but to ease her worries. Elayna blinks. He almost sees her breath catch in her throat and then release, shoulders dropping a fraction. The recognition creeps into her hazel eyes. Tyland’s heart speeds up.
“It is an honor to meet you. Lady Johanna speaks very highly of you.”
Elayna's voice is lower pitched than he expects but not unpleasantly so. Quite the opposite, in fact. Much to his surprise, he hears more of a Castamere accent than a Casterly Rock one, and it sends a small bit of warmth through his body.
“I'm heartened to hear that.” Tyland murmurs. “She has spoke of you to me as well. She says you've been an excellent friend to my niece.”
Elayna positively beams at his words. A strange ache forms within Tyland’s chest at the sight and blooms outward, filling him with a pleasant, almost buzzing, sensation. The corners of his lips lift, curling into a small smile in response.
"You flatter me.” Elayna tucks a stray strand of hair back into her braid. She looks at him from beneath her eyelashes for the briefest of seconds.
“I speak the truth.”
Elayna grins. She ducks her head in an attempt to hide it. Alon gently clears his throat. The throat clear is meant for Elayna, and she straightens up at it. Still, her smile remains. It sends blossoming warmth through his entire body. Alon steps forward.
“When you have the chance, I should like to catch up more fully with you.” Alon keeps his voice low. Elayna stays back a pace, but her head turns towards her father, clearly wanting to know what he's saying. Tyland nods.
“Of course. If your travels were not too strenuous, perhaps we can do so this afternoon?” Johanna’s letter tells him what she wants from him but Alon's intent remains a mystery. This piece of information means he can better approach what Johanna asks of him.
“That sounds excellent to me.” Alon nods, lifting his cane slightly and rapping it on the ground. “Perhaps we can meet while the girls settle in? It will take me less time to get comfortable.”
“I have some work I must do, but once it is done, I shall let you know.”
“Excellent.” Alon steps back. “I shall see you later today then.”
“It was a pleasure to meet you, Ser Tyland.” Elayna curtsies.
“The pleasure is all mine.”
Elayna's eyes light up with delight, her cheeks turning slightly pink. Pride surges through Tyland. Her reaction is genuine, and the realization makes his head spin slightly. Jason gets those sorts of reactions, never him. Alon begins walking, and Elayna dutifully follows, keeping close to his elbow.
A squeal of delight interrupts his reverie. He turns. Elayna steps away from Alon as Abrogail runs towards her. The cousins meet in the middle, both of them eagerly clasping the other's forearm. They chatter excitedly. Alon shakes his head, but even from behind, Tyland senses it's a fond head shake. He turns his attention towards the cousins.
He studies them closely. Abrogail and Prince Aegon are close, close enough people talk. He suspects within the next two or three years, the idea of marriage between the two will surface. Even if it doesn't, it's obvious Abby will always have Aegon's ear, whether she is aware of it or not.
If Elayna and Abby remain close, then Elayna may have an indirect line to Aegon. While Viserys still lives, Rhaenyra sits as heir, but all her legitimacy dies in the eyes of the Small Council when Viserys does. None of them speak it outright yet moves are made every day for this inevitability. A line to the future King would never hurt. Certainly, it would aid Tyland’s ten year plan.
Another bead slides.
********************************************
His brief conversation with Elayna lingers in his mind as he goes about his duties the rest of the day.
Several fruitless hours pass.
Tyland stares at the ledger in front of him. Ordinarily, he distracts himself after an important conversation, finding he gains more after he gives himself time. Reviewing a conversation too soon leads to obsessing over what was said and unsaid, which, ironically, means he misses the key points because he bogs himself down in the minutiae. Yet he cannot think of anything else. All he pictures is Elayna's smile.
Maybe this is beneficial. Meeting her does change how he views Johanna’s letter. He is only a man; bright eyes, a pretty smile, and sincere flattery do work wonders. However, as much as he is taken with Elayna's appearance, and he is taken he cannot deny it, he keeps the warnings in mind as well.  More accurately, Tyland reminds himself of Johanna’s words, not Tymon's.
Tymon may be blood, but blood doesn't guarantee brains. Tymon's youth also factors in Tyland’s opinions. Tymon is barely ten and eight, what can he possibly know? Tyland isn't entirely unsympathetic, truly. He remembers what it was like when he came to King's Landing, only ten and nine, a year older than Tymon. Tyland winces softly as a particularly embarrassing memory comes forward.
Tyland sighs. After a second, he caves to his desires and rubs small circles on his temple, even though it won't alleviate the pressure. Of course, it cannot be simple. Nothing directly involving him ever can be, despite his best efforts. He rests his hands on the table in front of him, careful of the ink in the ledger. After a moment, he exhales and looks towards the ceiling.
No answers come. No divine inspiration strikes. No help in any shape arrives. Tyland closes his eyes. Once again, he must come up with his own solutions and deliver himself.
Speaking with Alon is a start. Tyland opens his eyes, nodding softly. All he needs is a starting place. While he loathes not having a concrete plan of action, it makes him quite literally itch on occasion, he doesn't have enough information for a plan. He needs cursory research, and meeting with Alon provides it.
Tyland gathers himself. At supper, he shall glean more information, learn what he can. A single stray tidbit may aid his cause and center him, give him direction and purpose. The meeting with Alon will be of tremendous help; knowing Alon's plan will, at the very least, give him a bargain chip.
Tyland stands up, closing the ledger. Surely Alon is settled by now. He could wait, he supposes, but the thought doesn't sit right within him.
The walk to Alon's apartments doesn't take him as long as he expects. Alon’s position gives him a more than decent apartment, so Tyland doesn't have far to travel.
Alon greets him cordially. He stands without aid but stays close to the wall. Weariness clings to him like a coat. Without the pressure of presentations and greeting, Alon relaxes. Tyland notes the bags under Alon's eyes and the slight discomfort and stiffness in his posture.
“Ser Tyland.”
“Lord Reyne. I hope I'm not disturbing you.” Tyland pauses. “If you are not quite settled in yet, I don't mind speaking at a later time. We do not have to make time now.”
He does mind. Alon’s condition is the reason he offers. Alon shakes his head almost vehemently.
“Nonsense. I will always make time for those from home. Certainly, I shall make time for an esteemed member of the Small Council.” He steps aside, and Tyland enters.
“How are you finding things here? Are they as you remember when you were younger?”
Alon shakes his head, letting out a soft laugh.
“Things are quite... different. I don't recall the Faith of the Seven having as much hold, but. My memory may be failing me in my old age.” Alon keeps his face impassive and schooled, but a slight glimmer in his eyes betrays him. Tyland lowers his head and presses his lips together in a bid to keep his expression neutral.
“My memory must be failing me as well then.”
A hiccup of a laugh escapes Alon, lips twitching. He presses them together. The barely suppressed grin betrays him trying not to laugh. After a moment, he clears his throat. Warm civility falls naturally into place.
“Prithee, come in. Have a seat.” Alon gestures towards the main room of the apartment. Tyland steps forward and further into the space. Despite it being early in Alon's stay, Tyland glances around the area. Living spaces often tell much about a person. A book case catches his attention. It stands mostly empty except for several books on the top shelf. They're old and worn, not doubt memorized from how many times they've been read.
“ ‘Tis actually fortuitous you came by. I was about to come speak with you myself.” Tyland turns his attention back to Alon. Alon gestures towards one of the highball chairs. Tyland takes a seat, Alon following and sitting in the chair across from him.
“Yes. I am sorry about the delay. Several matters were more complicated than I thought initially.”
“I figured as much. As Master of Ships, you must be busy.”
Tyland nearly preens at the mention of his title. He is but a man, and while he pretends otherwise, flattery and recognition of his status do grease the wheels. He clears his throat and sits up a little straighter.
“You said you wished to speak with me?” Tyland settles his hands in his lap.
“I did.” Alon dips his head. “ ‘Tis about my daughter.”
“I see. Johanna said you might wish to speak about Elayna.”
“Did she now?” Alon raises an eyebrow. Tyland tries his best not to swallow or stumble.
“Nothing bad. She merely suggested it. She seems to think I might be of use. I actually wanted to speak with you myself about it so I may know more.” Tyland watches Alon carefully. “She did not elaborate much on the issue. Out of deference to you, I assume.”
“Johanna is very proactive. I do wish she had informed me she was writing you. To answer your question, we both wanted to talk to you about Elayna's future.” Alon stops. He presses his lips together as he carefully selects his next sentence. “I need someone to watch Elayna while she is here. Someone who will keep her on the right path.”
Alon opens his mouth and then stops. A brief look of concern crosses his face before a loud, harsh cough escapes him. The sound comes from deep within his throat, and Tyland leans forward, ready to call a Maester at any moment. Alon manages to reach for his drink with unsteady hands. As he does, his sleeve falls down his arm some, revealing dark and angry bruises. Tyland’s eyes flick from the bruising to Alon's face. Alon drinks deeply and greedily before setting down his goblet. When Alon lowers the goblet, Tyland catches the smell of the concoction, heart dropping some at the implications. The look must show on his face for Alon sighs.
“I bruise rather easily these days. ‘Tis no one's fault but my own.”
“You should have the maesters take a look at them.” Tyland frowns. Alon waves him away.
“The maesters have more important people to attend to.” Despite Tyland’s position, the authority in Alon's voice keeps his mouth shut. Tyland leans back in the chair. Alon coughs once more, this one not as violent. He clears his throat after, the look of irritation on his face one Tyland understands.
"I know it is a lot to ask. But I would not ask if it wasn't important.” Alon's voice comes out strained. Tyland leans forward, bracing his elbows on his thighs.
"Your illness has progressed, hasn't it?"
Between the strong herbal stench coming from Alon's drink and the loss of vitality, Tyland feels confident in what the answer will be. Alon’s frail state all but confirms his suspicions. Still, he needs to hear it from Alon. Alon presses his lips together. He looks away for a moment before letting out a sigh.
"The maesters say I will be lucky if I see next summer." He scoffs. "They know much, but I know my body and my will better than them. I have two more winters in me." He turns his attention back to Tyland. "Two winters isn't as much as I would like. I need to ensure Elayna's security before then. You're the only one I trust to treat her properly.”
Tyland blinks. He pauses and then clears his throat. As Alon's only daughter, Alon is always fiercely protective of Elayna. Pride swells within him but doesn't go far as his brain recalls Johanna’s letter. Alon isn't putting forth a betrothal but mentorship.
“If it is truly so much of a-”
“No!” Tyland pauses. “No, I mean. Yes. Yes, I will watch her, it would not be a burden. I merely...” Tyland stops. He tries collecting his words. Alon raises an eyebrow in vague amusement. “Why ask me? Would it not make more sense to betroth her to someone and have them ensure her safety?”
Alon dips his head. He presses his lips together and drums his fingers on his lap for a second. Eventually, he gathers the correct words.
“ ‘Tis hard to explain to someone without children, but. No matter how well you treat them and try to do what's best for them. Occasionally, instead of doing right by them, you wrong them. I fear I err'ed in my judgement. It was what was best at the time yet I don't find solace in that knowledge. I... I do not wish for Elayna's last memories of me to be me doing wrong by her again.”
Alon's voice cracks, tears welling up in his eyes. A surge of panic briefly overtakes Tyland. Should he... does he comfort Alon or avert his eyes and pretend he never saw? Alon sighs. He closes his eyes, and when he reopens them, clears his throat. Full dignity and determination return to his voice, an even keel once more.
“She is prideful and stubborn, which means finding her a lord husband is no easy task. Too many men see a difficult woman and see something either to be tamed or broken. My daughter will not receive the same treatment as an errant horse. I also know if she doesn't want to do something, she will make it quite difficult.” He lets out a dry laugh. “She comes by it honestly. Her sin is my sin. It must be her decision, or at least appear to be her decision.”
Alon fixes Tyland with a look piercing into Tyland’s very soul. His green eyes see through Tyland's physical body and into his character. Instead of shrinking back, Tyland meets him evenly. He keeps his gaze on Alon's, unblinking. Whatever Alon seeks, he shall not find it in a man who shrinks before him; Tyland shall meet Alon where he stands. Alon nods and blinks once, the silent and wordless approval sending a rush of pride and euphoria through Tyland.
“I know we haven't spoken in many years, but you would not be where you are if you weren't patient and reasonable. Elayna needs a guiding hand. I trust you. I trust you to keep her even keeled, and I trust you to give her sound advice. I don't want someone with their own ambitions clouding her judgement. She has enough of them on her own.”
This time, Tyland allows himself to preen. His chest puffs out slightly, and he lifts his head a little higher. His spine softly cracks as he sits up a little straighter.
“I appreciate your words.” He murmurs, attempting to downplay his reaction. Alon’s eyes sparkle.
“I speak only the truth.”
Tyland clears his throat. Alon’s praise feels genuine, and for once in his life, Tyland isn't sure what to do. He falls back onto the tried and true scripts.
“I am honored you asked me. I shall ensure Elayna makes the best decisions.”
“Excellent.” Alon smiles. It's a genuine smile, full of warmth and appreciation. “It should not be too difficult. I also asked Lia to keep an eye on Elayna as well for when Johanna returns to Casterly Rock.”
Tyland leans forward despite himself. He arches an eyebrow.
“Lia?”
“Yes.”
“I'm not sure I follow your logic.” Tyland tilts his head slightly. Alon’s eyes glitter.
“You are more than suited to guide Elayna through most of the political world, but parts of it neither you nor I can teach. And as much as I respect Lady Johanna, her politics are more suited to Casterly Rock.”
Tyland takes a moment, absorbing Alon's words. It makes sense. Tyland can help guide Elayna through certain decisions based on what he knows about the people around him, but she would need another woman's help when it comes to balancing the heart with reality. Slowly, Tyland sits upright. He nods, an impressed expression slipping onto his face. Alon continuously surprises him.
“I must confess. I never would have thought of that.”
“ ‘Tis my job as a father to think of these things.” Alon smiles at the compliment nevertheless.
“I'm sure she appreciates it.” Tyland murmurs. He watches more weariness seep into Alon's being. Alon coughs again, this one not as severe as earlier but nevertheless painful. He clears his throat.
“I am sorry to say this, but I fear my travels are finally catching up to me.” Alon's voice comes out a bit strained and weak, a bit of exhaustion creeping into it.
“I understand. It is long trip.” Tyland stands slowly. Alon starts as well, but Tyland stops him. “You need your rest. I can see myself out.”

If there is at least one thing I can credit FE for doing better than Tales in localization, it's not trying to actively go out of their way for an entire game to avoid subtext or direct text between two men that is romantic or implied romantic. Funny when it's so present that the attempt doesn't even work; infuriating that it was attempted to begin with.
So as much as I often have issues with some of FE's localizations, at least they have a leg up on loc Tales for that.
#DCB Comments#imagine changing entire sentences and vocal tones just to try to avoid it#if anything I'd say at least in FE the locs just... keep what's there like#they could've toned Soren and Houses Yuri down and they didn't. they just kept their lines or in some cases#especially with Houses Yuri I'd say leaned into them#have to specify bc Houses Yuri got to keep his bi agenda. Vesperia Yuri had the unfortunate issue of#the loc not wanting to keep his gay and trying reeeeally hard to avoid it#including altering entire sentences to avoid any woe is them misunderstandings about men having feelings for each other#meanwhile Houses Yuri is free to call men cute and lo and behold everyone loved that for him#they removed and altered a LOT of Vesperia Yuri's personality traits#(including any ability to express real sadness or fear bc woe is them if he's not a cool edgy man)#but they also really changed his tone toward Flynn PLUS some of what they say to each other#and twisted it to make it sound like Yuri was either angry or wasn't actually emotional abt him#forget the way they brought Grant George in for the DE release and made him sound just completely DEAD with zero personality#like. I can tolerate playing Houses dubbed despite my gripes with it (story based stuff)#it didn't feel like they were trying to alter LBGT+ aspects and they even for some rly leaned into it#basically if you haven't played Vesperia Yuri is... really gay coded. the loc pretended not to notice#in fact he's queer + gay coded bc and doesn't fit male gender norms and the gacha games LOVE that with his hair/outfits#Rays mind you is JP only bc it was shut down very quickly in the west and Vesp Yuri's story in Rays is uh#basically it centers around Flynn he loses his shit to protect Flynn and they do the usual like#don't-admit-it's-gay-outright in fictional media by using the ''Yuri's important person'' shtick#but he activates a special power in the middle of utterly raging to get Flynn back from their enemies#funny thing? that game never made it to that arc. I was told in about five months the western ver would've gotten that#but in some way I'm glad it didn't bc who knows how they would've tried to spin that#It's BAFFLING to me how you can get characters in Tales like JAY but the locs shake in their boots at the idea of queer gays#but given how allergic fictional media is to admitting a male character is gay -gestures to Ike and Vesp Yuri-#I'm not surprised I'm just actually angry that the locs try to censor homosexual relationships as much as possible even when they barely ca#if anyone does know Vesp Yuri and is confused on why I'm calling him gay coded despite what the dub did with Judith feel free to ask#bc I do ship them a little bit myself! but I just recognize that canon wise I really can't see him as anything but gay-demiromantic#but again at least FE locs don't shake in their boots anymore abt same sex pairs including men (side eyes Lucius/Raven)

as a huge spyro year of the dragon fan i Hate the reignited trilogy they took all the charm and nostalgia out of it BUT ... spyro's walking/running animation ? they perfected that.
#qktalks#world's most satisfying animation i could watch him hop around like that for hours. he's so ........ noodle-like#but they also took away his slow wing-flap animation from the original#like the one that's used when he's just standing there. he flaps his wings out very slowly in a constant rhythm#they took that away too. garbage game 0/10 /silly#they also made hunter .......so fucking ugly ?? whyd they do that to him . he didn't deserve this#for people unfamiliar with spyro look up spyro 3 original hunter vs reignited hunter you'll wanna vomit#idk i feel like reignited just didn't need to be made ?#a port of the original woulda been fucking BOMB. im of the opinion that old games don't Need to be remade#they just need to be ported/remastered or Whatever. and maybe tinkered with a Little if some aspect of the game was horrid for any reason#but also im of the opinion that u CAN do a good remake. if ur careful.#i don't think spyro needed all those graphic upgrades or that cartoonish realism#yeah the environments r pretty and they did a fine job w that i don't have an issue with the environments i have an issue w the characters#overall i think ?? bianca was done pretty well. she looks similar enough in face-shape to 3's original design#can't rly pinpoint anything in particular that's strange abt her. maybe her eyes? but idk what they coulda done differently#the sorceress is fine ... i kinda wish they made her head a little wider and kept the gradual change in scale color intact but#she's okay too#the fairies look bad<33333#spyro himself .... he looks okay ?#there's something Different about his face shape i kinda wish they'd kept everything a bit .... smaller? idk how to describe it#but it doesn't bother me that much i think they did a good job. lord knows they did better than skylanders .............#i also have an issue with the animations in general#idk how to explain it but the Way the characters move ............. it irks me#it's just so unnatural ? how they move and gesture when they talk? it's not Bad Animation it looks rly good graphically speaking#but idk. this isn't a spyro thing in particular it's just that animation style that i dislike#playing reignited just makes me sad. playing the original comforts me. playing reignited makes me sad that im not playing the original#u can remake an old game made of approximately 18 polygons and make it look good AND make it look like the original#u just have to be careful about the geometry and the level of detail and the eye shapes

CW: unreality
Vent: kinda
I heard voices kind of in my ear today, I don't really know exactly why
I feel maybe it's happened before, but I couldn't give an example of a time that it has.
I pretty sure this was after I had gone outside.
My dad told me I should probably go outside since I like the wind a lot.
I went outside and my brother went outside with me. And we looked around. Because of the storm and hurricane that happened some things like leaves and branches were out. But it wasn't raining anymore.
My brother told me about a big piece of tree that fell near the neighbors house.
Then I wanted to say something about cutting down trees, but my brother kept telling me no. And cutting me off. All he wanted to say was that some peoples internet was out.
I turned around be he was already leaving.
So I just started crying.
When people leave like that it feels really bad. And I just felt like I did something really wrong.
I stayed out side for a while and I went back inside but I was still crying about it.
I did stop and I got back to working. We had school at home today.
I was just thinking to myself, but then I heard sounds that were like words in my ears when I was thinking. And I didn't really sound like thinking. But then it just stopped. It was pretty strange
I don't have this happen to me often or at all. So I'm not sure why it did. Or than that I've been pretty stressed lately.
CW: eating strangely,, in tags. I just didn't want to put it up there
