Small but significant character moments that I actually really adore are from both the times we see the boys as tots. There is a reoccurrence that happens in both of them that I find so incredibly interesting.

For the turtle tot short, Splinter leaves the boys with weapons. In the short, Raph is the one who suggests they do “what Lou Jitsu would do” and Leo is the one who takes point when Splinter comes back to reprimand them. Leo, in taking point, is the one to defend them and get Splinter off their tails.

And then, in the flashback regarding the Kuroi Yōroi helmet, Raph is the one who grabs and throws “Skully” as a way to replace their missing ball which breaks it into pieces, but Leo is the one who speaks for the group and rushes into action to fix the teapot.

I love this for multiple reasons, but the biggest are how it shows that Raph has always been inclined toward the bold and fun and making the plans to include his brothers in what he loves and believes they’d love, whereas Leo has always been inclined to be the “Face” of the group and shoulder the attention even if it’s potentially negative all while coming up with on the spot attempts to fix the situation.

I actually need to talk about how Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi take on characteristics of each other in times of crisis.

Cheng Xiaoshi comes back to find Lu Guang bleeding out and unconscious on the couch and Qiao Ling possessed. You would expect him to do something extreme, right? You’d expect him to tackle Qiao Ling or run to Lu Guang, putting himself in between Lu Guang and the danger. But he doesn’t. He stays put and he thinks and he plans. He takes on a level-headed approach to try and minimize the damage, to stop anything worse from happening.

Lu Guang, upon seeing Cheng Xiaoshi shot, completely forgets about logic. He lunges towards Qian Jin, who is not just holding a gun still, but actively pointing it with his finger over the trigger. He throws himself directly and recklessly into what could very quickly turn into a bad and dangerous situation without a moment’s thought. He beats the shit out of Qian Jin, too (everyone cheer) instead of taking any sort of logical route or attempting to de-escalate in any way.

When Cheng Xiaoshi thinks that Lu Guang is dead, he almost jumps back in time but doesn’t, because he respects Lu Guang’s rules and wishes. He acknowledges that doing so would break the rules and fundamentally alter the past, so he tries his best to grapple with his feelings and take a logical approach to handling his grief.

When Lu Guang sees Cheng Xiaoshi die, he does jump back into the past. He admittedly tries to be rational, trying not to change too much because he knows the consequences. But then we get him in Bridon arc purposefully creating waves and starting to nudge things off track because he can’t handle or cope with the idea of losing Cheng Xiaoshi again.

And I know they’re meant to be yin-and-yang, right? Personality, color scheme, everything about their dynamic. And this always strikes me because in each side of the yin-and-yang, there’s the small circle of the other half. And they have that, too, in their personalities. When the other is threatened and they are left to their base instincts and fears to react, they react like each other.

I could argue that they replicate the parts of each other that they admire in a crisis. That they have a sort of unconscious “what would Cheng Xiaoshi/Lu Guang do?” sort of moment in the split second before they react. I could argue that they aren’t completely right without each other, and that shows. Or just that they’re so ingrained in each other, even their basic instincts reflect this.

I just think it’s really interesting and important to acknowledge because neither one of them is a 2D character. They have their archetype but they aren’t pigeonholed into that alone. Lu Guang is actually quite caring and open about showing it, often the opposite of what we see in the quiet, reserved one. And Cheng Xiaoshi isn’t stupid and all forgiving and even recognizes the outcomes of his recklessness, something not typically seen in the brash and outgoing one. They are very multifaceted in their personalities and dynamics and it’s even more so in their personal dynamic because of how close they are and how much they’re able to be truly genuine together.

Anyway, this got more rambly than I meant for it to. I just think it’s important to acknowledge the impact they’ve had on each other and how it’s demonstrated 🫶🏻

Do you have any bsd hot takes or any popular ships you don’t like

Oooooooh I love this question!! BSD hot takes are my specialty so I’m just gonna rapid fire some with zero elaboration

• Saying that Dazai hasn’t changed is a fundamental misunderstanding of his character, as well as the major themes of the manga. This shouldn’t even be a subject that’s up for debate

• As for ships, I temporarily really disliked Soukoku but it’s grown on me again. I think my most controversial shipping takes would be that I really dislike FukuMori and Atsulucy

• I wish people talked about the Hunting Dogs more!! Like their actual characters, not just simping or ships (not that there’s anything wrong with those things ofc). Jouno specifically is soooooooo interesting to me

• Dazai being suicidal is another subject that shouldn’t be up for debate. Saying he’s not because “his attempts always fail” or “he wants to live” is a horrific misunderstanding of how suicide ideation works

• The reason Atsushi doesn’t feel like the protagonist is because most of the light novel content focuses on the supporting cast, which then gets integrated into the show and gives Dazai more screen time. Reading the manga by itself, Atsushi actually has quite a bit of screen time and development. There are also two light novels focused on him so like,,,yeah

• I’m sorry but it will always be WEIRD to me how many fans switched up on Mori when Yosano’s backstory got animated. It’s fine to like him ofc but why are ppl allergic to focusing on the female characters

• The plot is very straightforward ya’ll it’s like one of the most basic plot structures of all time. Stop acting like it’s impossible to comprehend

• It’s also WEIRD to me how so many fans deny Higuchi being abused by Akutagawa. We see him hit and berate her multiple times, these are textbook examples of abuse. Especially within a professional relationship like theirs that has a power imbalance…again, no idea why this is even a debate

• Look personally. PERSONALLY. I do think Mori is intended to be a pedo. I know a lot of people probably just rolled their eyes so I want to clarify that I have read every analysis you’re about to recommend me that says otherwise. I see that perspective, however it really seems to me that people are doing mental gymnastics to deny the obvious. Again this is just my interpretation so pls lower your guns

• I fucking love Fukuchi he’s one of my favorite antagonists

• Nikolai is queercoded

• I so desperately wish we got more focus on Gin. What we have on her is already so compelling and I would love for Asagiri to flesh her out more

• “Dazai leaving the mafia was a good thing that ultimately saved his life” and “It is rational that Chuuya would be upset over his partner abandoning him with no explanation” are two sentiments that can and should coexist

• Not really a hot take but the Buraiha Trio is my favorite dynamic in the series. I need an entire spin off that’s just them meeting up at Bar Lupin except nothing bad ever happens

• Oda’s death scene is one of the most impactful moments from anything I’ve ever watched or read. It genuinely changed my outlook on life

• And on that note, The Dark Era is my favorite thing to come out of BSD

• It shouldn’t be controversial to say that Dazai was abused by Mori. Not physical or sexual like a lot of fans suggest but child endangerment and manipulation are definitely at play here. Mori’s actions in the Dark Era should be considered an act of abuse on their own

• I don’t care much for The Guild as a whole but the individual characters are super compelling!! Fitzgerald’s comeback is one of my favorite parts of the series and I absolutely adore Louisa, Lucy, Poe, Margaret, and Mark. I hate Nathaniel tho

• I do believe that Ranpo is autistic coded due to Untold Origins, however a lot of fans get very stereotypical and weird with that headcanon. I don’t see that as often now as I used to but it’s still a thing to some degree

• Most fans only look at half of Dazai and Akutagawa’s arc together and completely ignore how it was pointed out to us that Dazai is trying to show Aku the light and make him stronger by pairing him up with Atsushi. He hasn’t stopped training him, he’s just doing so from a distance now because he’s aware he caused Aku a lot of trauma. Not saying their dynamic is entirely positive, but it has changed. There was a whole chapter to point this out!! But people exclusively look at every scene with them through a negative light and it leads to the fandom undermining the development we see from both of them

• Oh and btw, Akutagawa and Atsushi’s partnership is amazing. I’m a big AtsuAku shipper but setting romance aside completely, I love seeing their characters interact. Their banter is so funny and omg the mutual respect between them??? The parallels between their arcs??? The way they help each other grow??? Absolutely fantastic, Asagiri ate with that. I must confess I like them way more then Dazai and Chuuya as a duo

• All these male partnership duos and not a single one for the women, c’mon Asagiri😔 Give us a toxic lesbian pair (I would say Higugin but technically Gin’s partner is Tachihara so they don’t count)

• Kyouka is easily the most underrated character in the series. She’s incredibly well-written and, not to mention, one of the main characters. We see her more than Chuuya and Poe but do people talk about her more than Chuuya and Poe??? No, my baby gets ignored. Sad times we’re living in

• I do believe in the whole “abuse cycle/web” concept, however there is also a healing cycle that is far more important to the story and I hate seeing fans overlook that

• Dazai’s talk with Kyouka at the end of The Guild arc is one of my absolute favorite scenes from the manga and I wish people talked about it more

• Fans joke a lot about Atsushi calling Dazai a good person but I do genuinely believe Asagiri wants us to think of him that way. He is morally gray for sure, but currently he is dedicating his life to saving others, therefore most people in-universe would consider him good. His past actions don’t matter to the every day people he saves on a daily basis. Imo this line was an attempt to challenge what we generally consider to be a “good” person

• To elaborate on that, it directly parallels the scene at the beginning of Dead Apple where Atsushi points out that Dazai is visiting a grave. “Do I look like someone visiting a grave to you?” “Yeah, you do” / “Do I look like a good person to you?” “Yeah, you do.” Atsushi was right the first time, so I believe he was intended to be right the second was well. Why else call back to it???

• Tbh it is objectively hilarious that Dazai doubts himself being a good person directly after saving the city. I understand why but like…sir, cut yourself some slack

• I think the fanon family dynamics are super cute but people should be able to acknowledge that a lot of them aren’t canon (besides, like, Fukuzawa and Ranpo or Bram and Aya). Ranpo and Yosano’s canon relationship is best friends, you can absolutely view them as siblings but don’t treat it like a canon fact

• Yk that post that said “Who the hell gets into bsd and looks for a healthy ship?? Take your sensitive ass back to Haikyuu” ? Yeah. I second that

• Yes, Kouyou abused Kyouka. Yes, Kouyou cares very deeply about Kyouka. Both of these statements can coexist. Every decision Kouyou makes is motivated by what would be best for Kyouka and if you don’t get that then you won’t understand her character very well

• Since I mentioned Kenji I wanna point out smth very weird I’ve noticed where, when people bring up healthy bsd ships, they tend to only mention the straight ones??? Even if it’s a mischaracterization or the characters have never interacted. It gives me a very weird vibe

• Fyodor is probably my favorite antagonist, the chapter with him and Ace is one of my favorites. He’s a good parallel for Dazai and I just love his whole aesthetic. • Tachihara has an amazing character arc and I hate that the anime cut it out

• Higuchi is so…ugh I love her to death. Her character is the perfect mix of comic relief and tragedy. I once saw someone point out that it’s nice how Asagiri is able to use her for humor without making the jokes misogynistic and I fully agree (although I do have some qualms abt Aku hitting her being used as a joke in that one bonus page). And her finding her place in the mafia, realizing how important she is to the people who work for her???? I adore her, I hope she gets a satisfying ending

• Higugin has so much potential to be explored in fanon and I hate how they always get reduced to the token fluffy wlw ship or how some ppl only like them for the aesthetic. Give me angst!!! Give me toxic doomed yuri!!! Or give me death!!!

• I really like Fukuzawa’s backstory and want to see more of it

• The light novels have some of the best bsd content and more fans should read them

• Speaking of which- I do really like the gay hc for Chuuya and the bi hc for Dazai but I wish fans weren’t so afraid to step out of the established box!! Nothing is fully confirmed guys, we can headcanon them as whatever we want. Let’s get creative with it

• I wish more fans humanized Yosano the way they do with the male characters. We see from her backstory how much being out on a pedestal hurt her and so it just seems weird that she’s upheld as this flawless girlboss. Yes, she’s a totally badass and a hottie and I love that but there is so much more to her. She has her weak moments just like every other character, and she has such an incredible arc

• On that note I hope everybody who told me Mori is more interesting than her dies in a fire (I’m joking) (ik how Mori fans like to tussle)

• I happen to really like both the Tanizaki siblings. Actually that’s a lie I used to hate Junichirou. I can’t remember why, I think I just found him annoying. No idea what my current opinion is but now I feel kinda bad for hating him so I’ll say I like him now

• Idk why ppl get so pissed when you suggest that Dazai self-harms like. Okay fine ik it’s not fully confirmed that that’s what the bandages are for. But let’s use our brains for a second…

I ended up thinking about something that I think has already been addressed here, but I want to talk anyway and I would like to hear your thoughts about this idea! I ended up thinking mainly of Blade and Dr.Ratio for this scenario.

Imagine that you are just another partner of his who ends up being super kind and inviting, always smiling and wishing a great day when you saw him, it was just something friendly that you tried to have with Blade. Just a genuine and cool friendship or it was also just out of politeness…

Anyway, you always made an effort to say a "good morning!" Or "Have a good mission and don't get hurt!", this kind of friendly thing that you said to anyone and that Blade never cared about actually giving back or saying the same.

But even so, you were always there to wish him a great day or good luck, always there... Every day without fail being kind and polite to Blade and with everyone who passed by you, he didn't like to admit it, but got used to you always checking him and giving those friendly smiles. It was something of his routine now!

And he will notice when you stop, Blade will notice that you stopped doing this often and started moving away, it was a fun part (which he liked a lot) of his routine after all, and do you just want to stop it? No way!It will be longer by your side with you whether or not, leaving you confused by this proximity and how angry Blade was looking almost every day that you ignored him, I imagined him standing in front of you waiting for you to say something like a "good luck!" And only moving away after hearing these words from you.

Everyone can see how Blade’s aura changes dramatically before you greet him with a genuine smile, the sharp and murderous eyes soften a little and the tension in your jaw too, going from "I'm going to kill anyone now" to "maybe I'm going to kill someone", but Blade is more peaceful and happy to hear that you care about him and always greet him!

When we talk about Dr.Ratio, I see this same dynamic only with you being an academic and him helping you in some things. We know that he is not the easiest person to live with and that this affects the people around him a lot, in the same way as Blade, he would also not notice that he liked you being kind and polite, thinking that it was just another way to get closer and well, just out of politeness!

Dr.Ratio only realizes what he missed when you start to move away and stop talking to him (even if the conversations were only for politeness), so he insists on passing by your side to see that he will react as before and if you just ignore him... Dr.Ratio starts to call you rude and being mean to you, he also ends up forcing you to do any academic work with him and only him.

Dr.Ratio, in the same way as Blade, gets angry and shows it easily on his face, everyone realizes how his hatred only increases when you pass and don't greet him, when you don't smile at him but at others. In addition, Dr.Ratio‘s change of expression is not that obvious, but you can see his muscles relax when you see his smile and pride being rebuilt, in addition, Dr.Ratio will be sure that you always have time for him.

some rambles abt the patreon bonus scene of sam and porter <3 i was gonna wait until the audio released publicly to post this but idk when that's gonna happen so ta daaaa yes ik the audio came out like half a month ago shushhh

okie so first of all, i'm so happy we got another bonus scene like the first one with lasko, huxley and damien and the one with sam NAME DROPPING porter. they've always been fun and exciting and OHHH I LOVE just having audios that are structured slightly differently and these kinds of audios aren't always necessary for understanding the main plot but they reveal so much more about characters, i love them. erik please make this one public so the people can hear it, i'm begging you.

OH EM GEE i love porter and sam's dynamic so much! they're not blood related, not even vampirically, but you can't deny that they're literally family. porter making the classic old man jabs at sam and acknowledging that people always make those jokes towards sam, oh they're brothers.

porter saying "apparently i've become predictable in my old age" just has me questioning how old he is again. i mean, i've always assumed he was AT LEAST vincent and sam's ages but i've never really thought of him as a proper old vamp. just because his personality is youthfully mischievous and he's often just straight up immature in my opinion. was this just an exaggeration or is porter much older than sam? i doubt he's much older to be honest. hearing what went on in his life so far, i don't think there's enough there to make the assumption that he's got that many years behind him.

oh and porter also saying that the solaire clan is an institution that has kept sam and vincent "comfortable, satisfied and most of all SAFE" HAS GOT ME THINKING AHHH!! i hadn't considered that leaving the house would make sam and vincent vulnerable to enemies of the house and now i'm thinking back to the summit when deon wright mentioned that quinn must have come from somewhere, with possible allies that are still yet to appear. even if sam and vincent leave the house and do their best to distance themselves from william, they're still of emotional value to will and therefore are still a weakness of the house OHHH IM GETTING EXCITED

oh and porter's inability to hold in a scoff at samuel HE'S SO SASSY I LOVE HIM especially when he's all huffy and puffy.

"i am a vampire but that doesn't make them my people. i'm a healer. i'm a mate. i'm a friend. i'm a hellion when i wanna be. i'm a lot of things but i'm not that kind of person." sam i'm gonna sob into my pillow.

i adore how erik shows that despite all their bickering and downright mean attitudes towards each other, sam still cares deeply about porter - "you gotta live your own life the best way you see fit, porter. and i wish you well in it. i really do." oh and porter definitely also cares deeply about sam and vincent. i've said before that they're the closest thing he has to a family and i think porter mentioning that leaving the house not only endangers sam and vincent but also the people they care about shows that porter cares not just about sam and vincent's physical wellbeings but also their mental wellbeings. he cares about sam and vincent and by extension those they care about as well.

i like to think vincent attempting to call porter in porter's hbs is also a sign that somewhere in his heart, vincent cares for porter too. especially after learning a bit more about porter at the summit. hence why he wants to talk to porter about everything that's going on now.

"there's a place for you on this side of the table, if you want it. we just wanted you to know that." SEEEEEE SAM CARES HE REALLY DOES DESPITE IT ALL

sam acknowledging that porter's habit of constantly fighting anyone and everyone he encounters is a self destructive one and is NOT going to end well if he continues just leads me to believe that erik has something up his sleeve for this. either porter's relationship with treasure (arguably the healthiest one he's currently got) is going to help him heal from that constant need to fight or this addiction is going to lead to something horrible (but entirely avoidable if porter would just leave it be). oh what fun!!

I don't write here often but you all are my test audience. So here's a random oneshot fic I wrote for the Jojo SIMPS. This takes place in part 3 with the rest of the crusaders during their travels to beef with Dio.

Jotaro is honestly the type to not give a shit what anyone wears, but if he does like something he gets protective of it. So if you and the Crusaders were just out on about, getting ready to go eat, they’d be waiting for you bc girls sometimes take longer. However you take your time and don’t run, and since the last fight last messed up your clothes, you wore a sundress that Jotaro and his grandpa picked out for you. It was nice of them and obviously, they picked up a dress because it was a quick purchase. 

While the guys are waiting in the lobby for you Jotato grows slightly impatient. Kakyoin was sitting right next to him reading something. 

“Oh wow, look.”

Jotaro feels a tap on his shoulder and says

Jotaro turns his gaze to the hallway you just came from and suddenly he is frozen. He saw you walking with such ease, in your (F/C) Sundress with your heels on, hair curled/flattened, make-up touched up, and gold/silver jewelry complimentary everything. 

It was as if you were walking in slow motion, and the sunrise shining through the window behind you just made your whole image glow in his eyes. 

His mouth was slightly parted and the closer you got the closer he was to getting a nosebleed. 

He just couldn’t look away, even lightly touching your hair to re-adjust it, which made him squirm. 

“I made it, sorry I was late.”

“Wow, y/n you look great.”

Avdol states with Kakyoin nodding. 

“See this is what fashionably late should looks like.”

You laughed and rolled your eyes. "Thanks, Polnareff," you said, trying to hide the flush creeping up your neck.

God your smile, Jotaro wanted to take a picture. 

“Looks like the dress we bought you fits just right, ay JoJo?”

Joseph asks Jotaro but he’s still not speaking, his eyes are only on you, eventually, you look at him and he tips his hat down in an attempt to shield his eyes. 

“Yes, it does, thank you guys.”

You thank.

“It was nothing.”

Jotaro finally responds to you. 

“Do you have a coat to wear?”

Jotaro asks, you raise a brow feeling something is off about that question. 

“No, it's hot out here, why you ask?”

He wanted to say that the reason why is because he regrets picking out that dress for you and wishes you would cover up your exposed areas of skin so that no one can look at you for more than 2 seconds. 

You have already started to grow on him, and it's like he gravitated towards you without a reason. 

“No reason, forget it.” 

As you made your way to the restaurant, the conversation flowed easily. Joseph and Polnareff were their usual loud selves, and Kakyoin was quietly observing, clearly amused by the dynamics of the group. Jotaro, however, remained mostly silent, as he always did, but his presence seemed to ground you in a strangely comforting way.

You didn’t realize it at first, but as the group reached the restaurant and sat down at a table, Jotaro’s eyes kept flicking back to you. It wasn’t obvious, but you caught it in the corner of your eye — the way he looked at you when he thought you weren’t paying attention.

It wasn’t like him to show much, but there was something about the way he looked at you today. It made your heart skip a beat.

You took a seat at the table, making sure to keep the conversation light. "So, what’s the plan after lunch?" you asked, trying to steer the group’s chatter toward something less focused on you.

Polnareff, as always, was quick to jump in. "We’re gonna take a stroll through the city, maybe hit a few shops," he said with a wink. "I hear there's a place with some killer souvenirs, but I’m more excited for the food here. You gotta try the steak!"

You smiled and nodded, but you couldn’t help but notice Jotaro’s gaze had lingered on you again. He was staring, just slightly, but it was enough to make your cheeks flush again. His eyes were focused on you in a way that made you feel… seen.

"You okay, Jotaro?" you asked with a raised eyebrow, slightly teasing. "You look like you’re thinking hard about something."

Jotaro blinked, clearly caught off guard. His expression didn’t change much, but for a brief moment, his eyes softened — just a little. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms and casting a glance toward the others.

"I'm fine," he muttered, his tone as flat as ever.

You felt a small smile tug at your lips. "Okay, just making sure," you said, feeling a sense of warmth spread through you. Even though he didn’t say much, his presence was comforting. It always had been.

As the group continued talking, you noticed Jotaro’s attention shift back to his plate, but the brief moments of eye contact you shared earlier lingered in your mind. Was it just you, or was there something different in the way he was looking at you today?

A small, unnoticed glance here, a fleeting look there — it made you wonder if maybe, just maybe, Jotaro saw something more than he let on.

Lunch came to an end and then everyone walked on the sidewalk back to the hotel. Jean and Polnareff stopped walking near the hotel to take a quick smoking break, and you waited for them sitting on the side of the sidewalk, while Joseph Avdol went back to the hotel to take their nap.

It was peaceful out, with the sun shining and you were just chilling. 

“Hey y/n”

I look up at Jotaro and see him lift his finger gesturing “Come here.”

I get up and he walks me a little bit out of Polnareff’s hearing range. 

“Listen I never said this earlier but imma say it now, you look really beautiful in that dress but the reason why I wanted you to wear a coat was because we’re all trying to not cause attention to ourselves.” 

I was sort of heated in the face but not in a flattered way.

However, I only felt a gentle rough hand move a strand of my hair out of the way and I felt that he placed something on my ear. 

It was a flower. A random flower just happened to be behind me?

I open my eyes and look at the floor, but then he flicks the bottom of my chin to get my attention. 

We lock eyes and he leans closer to my side. And speaks only at a volume I could hear. 

“I’m sorry if what I said made you feel that way but you don’t need to cover up, because if an enemy does present themselves, I’ll just kick their ass like normal and all you have to do is stand still and look pretty for me, ya?”

Part 3: The Titan's Curse

The truth was I was kind of disappointed to hear that she liked her new school so much. It was the first time she'd gone to school in New York. I'd been hoping to see her more often.

I tried to concentrate on little things, like the crepe-paper streamers and the punch bowl - anything but that fact that Annabeth was taller than me, and my hands were sweaty and probably gross, and I kept stepping on her toes.

"The General?" I asked. Then I realised I'd said it in a French accent. "I mean... who's the General?" I want this part to be in the show

When she smiled at me, just for a moment she looked a little like Annabeth. I know everyone talks about this part but I can't help but bring it up again, they are so cute

Suddenly it occurred to me: this had happened to her before. She had been cornered on Half-Blood Hill. She'd willingly given her life for her friends. But this time, she couldn't save us. How could I let that happen to her? he is the most empathetic, wholesome guy, I love Percy

"Can't this go any faster?" Thalia demanded. Zoe glared at her. "I cannot control traffic." You both sound like my mother." I said. "Shut up!" they said in unison. I kind of wish we got more Thalia and Zoe interactions... they would've made such a great enemies to lovers dynamic, if Zoe didn't die

"Get away from my daughter!" Dr Chase called down, and his machine gun burst to life, peppering the ground with bullet holes and startling the whole group of monsters into scattering. "Dad?" yelled Annabeth in disbelief.

Grover went off with his satyr friends to spread the word about our strange encounter with the magic of Pan. Within an hour, the satyrs were all running around agitated, asking where the nearest espresso bar was.

"No," I said. "I choose the prophecy. It will be about me." "Why are you saying that?" she cried. "You want to be responsible for the whole world?" It was the last thing I wanted, but I didn't say that. I knew I had to step up and claim it. "I can't let Nico be in any more danger." I said. might I remind you this boy is 13/14 and has the whole world on his shoulders (both literally at some point and figuratively)

Difference between a good father and a bad father

(This is mainly for folks who have at least watched Soul Eater. In case you didn't and you don't know who the red-haired man is below, his name is Spirit Albarn, a character in the series. He, like Stolas, is a divorced father. He cheated on his wife not once, but multiple times and they separated cuz of it. It's because of this that the mother is not in her (ex)husband or daughter's life and the said daughter did not have a good relationship with her father. I guess you can say his situation is a little similar to Stolas. Only difference is Spirit is a good father)

Both are horny perverts that like to sleep around (though in Stola's case, he has eyes set for one person)

Both around 30 years old (not really the point of this post, but it's so much of a coincidence I wanted to point that out)

And now here are the differences (the best part of this post)!

Differences

Spirit:

Is actually trying to be a good dad.

Is in his daughter's life and makes it his goal to have a good relationship with her.

Is much happier spending time with his daughter than anyone or even any woman.

Pays attention to his daughter and will be quick to be there for her when he feels she needs help, which is nearly in any case.

Won't hesitate to protect when she's in danger. Only reason why he can't is because . . . plot?

Doesn't make excuses for his actions.

Wouldn't gaslight anyone just to avoid being at fault.

Is regretful of his actions and probably wishes he could fix things, however, there's nothing he can do about it.

Still loves his ex (or so he claims) despite everything and like I said, probably wants to fix things with her, but as far as I'm concerned, she's simply DONE with him (she doesn't even make an appearance in the anime). The best that he can do is move on and focus on his daughter. He still would make passes at women, which was what got him divorced in the first place, but the way I see it, this is his way of trying to move on if they can't work anything out (not to condone that, ust saying). But we're not talking about him being a terrible husband here.

Stolas:

Despite caring about his daughter, he DOES NOT pay attention to her as often as he would think or we would hope. Neglecting her if you will.

Flirts with his sex target in front of his daughter which is very inappropriate. Spirit kinda did that a couple of times too, tho it was unintentional on his part, at least most of the time. In Stolas's case, he did it while fully aware of Octavia's presence and didn't even consider the fact that she didn't want to see it.

Makes excuses for his actions. Regardless if his reasons for it were true, it doesn't justify his them and with the way the show comes off, it makes it seem like they want us to justify the affair.

Not ONCE do we hear him apologize to Octavia for his actions or behavior. If he did apologize, it wasn't a full apology. In fact, Octavia was the one to apologize to him even though she didn't need too.

Between searching for his daughter when she is lost and hanging out with Blitzo, worried about what he's got going on, he goes for the latter, once again, being neglectful.

Not to say Spirit doesn't have his own flaws in being a father, but if Maka (Spirit's daughter) were to look at the dynamic between Octavia and Stolas, I'm sure she'd appreciate Spirit a little more. He may be a horndog, but at least in his case, his daughter ALWAYS comes first. Seriously, no way he would ever choose some woman he barely knows over his daughter.

I've got some complicated feelings about Dedra and Syril's relationship in Andor Season 2.

On the one hand, the point is clearly to show that even fascists can have perfectly happy, healthy, functioning relationships with each other and go through perfectly normal things like meeting the parents for the first time while still being fascists who plan to destroy entire worlds in their spare time. One of Andor's biggest messages is that fascists aren't usually all that different from us. Fascists are people, too, and it's important to recognize that so that you can recognize it in yourself and the people around you if you have to. They're not monsters under your bed, they're your co-workers, your neighbors, and even you if you're not diligent enough.

And they ARE, for the moment, a couple that appears to be perfectly happy and healthy and functioning. Despite their respective personalities being so reserved, they seem to have found a dynamic that works for them and works WELL. Dedra cares about Syril, enough that she stands up to his mother for him and enough that she is nervous about meeting his mother for the first time and willing to try to be friendly and smile even when it isn't natural for her just to try to make a good impression on his mother.

The two of them are not particularly affectionate, either physically or verbally (the closest we get to physical affection is when Dedra grabs his face and tells him they can't cancel this dinner again, but it's more reminiscent of something violent than something affectionate even if she doesn't mean it that way). But the lack of more stereotypical kinds of affectionate doesn't seem to be an indication of a lack of actual feelings for each other OR an indication of an unhealthy dynamic between them. And I do really appreciate a representation of a happy, healthy, functioning couple that aren't physically affectionate and that are more reserved with each other in general. As an asexual person, this is something that pretty much never exists anywhere.

But on the other hand, this lovely representation of a happy, healthy functioning couple that don't need a lot of physical or verbal affection to prove that they care about each other are ALSO the villains and are fascists who oppress others in their spare time. And I really, truly wish that the only representation of this kind of relationship that I've ever really seen is in villains. Characters being more reserved and less affectionate is so often utilized to showcase villainy (see the Ahsoka show for some great examples of this), and while this isn't QUITE falling into the same pattern, it's feeling a little adjacent to that pattern. Especially when our hero characters in healthy relationships ARE so physically affectionate (Cassian grasping onto Brasso's body and kissing his temple, Cassian and Bix hugging each other when they finally see each other again) as a contrast.

This is part of why I love the Jedi so much, because I think their relationships would honestly end up a lot like Dedra and Syril's, where there isn't a large amount of physical affection or even always verbal affection, but it is still generally happy and healthy and loving.

So I actually love this relationship between them weirdly enough (never thought I'd have said that), I love this representation of this kind of relationship, and I understand what the show is doing through their characters and I do think it works, but I just wish the only representation of this kind of relationship wasn't through the fascist villains.

1. I binged season 1-3 in December 2022 by myself. A fun fact about me, i HATE procedurals. Usually I can manage a few episodes and enjoy them and then I think the formula of episodic rescues/crime solving is too boring. I thought I could maybe stay for the hot gay dudes I saw on my dash. But I fell in love with so much more than that. I rarely have shows with ensamble casts where I genuinely really like all characters. Michelle is the only exception. Goddamn that woman should only play faeries for the rest of her life. And weirdly, something I appreciate is watching these three seasons all by myself. It allowed me to really take the episodes in without any outside opinions or controversies or even over-hyping through others. I loved the show all by myself. And though a part of me wishes I would have found it earlier, I find a lot of joy in having these three seasons locked deep in my own heart, just for me.

2. Okay after all that too long blabbering, of COURSE I have to say the friends I made. Friendship has always been my biggest source of joy. Always. And I'm so blessed to have so many friends in my life, and more blessed to add people on my dash to them. If we text sometimes/often/daily or I just like your personal posts, know that I really care for what you put out there. You all matter to me, and I mean that.

4. Sending out Holiday cards. Truly, I love doing it so much, even if the production last year was stressful I hope this year people will still be here and be interested in getting my lil card. And ofc I loved the ones I got back.

We are quite smol, but look at the big things we create. 2022 was the toughest year of my life, and a lot of what followed was an ebb and flow mentally, but one thing thatr eally helped me was to be more creative. And I thank every one of you who has left comments or sweet tags or created something themselves that keeps me motivated.

6. The Hello! Rafa/Ronen photoshoot . Still lives in my head rent-free.

7. Having people beta-read my humble writing. It helps me a lot! Just like reading fics by people whose writing I admire (y'all basically).

8. Fandom events. Like Gotcha charity, but also the Holiday exchanges and the watch parties and the server and so many little things in the cosmos of this fandom.

9. Even the disagreements. Idk. Very family dynamic to me and I don't mean to downplay how marginalized people are affected by some of it. But you tell me you hate someone's outfit and I will lovingly side-eye you like a cousin. It kind of is necessary to the eco system of fandom to not all be harmonious.

10. Most of all, how welcoming this fandom was from the very beginning. I try to be part of that. If I ever annoy you with engaging with personal posts, that's why. I want you to feel heard.

Weekend Ramblings

GelBoys Episode 1

Great first episode. I like that they're using public transport and walking outside a lot, it feels more alive and realistic even if I have no real frame of reference. I like that the nails are telling the passage of time and this is going fast. The first episode spanned 3 months at least judging from that, probably more.The visuals are really good and I really like the editing, and the way it's shot almost makes me feel like I'm watching a documentary. Seems like this will be messy and angsty teenagers kinda bl and I'm ready.

Perfect 10 Liners Episode 16

I'm still comfortable in my hypocrisy and will use this gif whenever it suits me. Cause Faifa is me, in any other show but this one.

There's something about a brooder begrudgingly falling for the ray of sunshine he swore he’d never need, that I just adore. Add to that the fact that the brooder is played by Perth and I'm in uni bl heaven. I loved this arc so damn much. These two make such an adorable couple and Perth and Santa are great together. I'm surprised with their chemistry but also not, cause I think both of them can probably have chemistry with anyone. If they stay a pair for now I'm on board. Although I do enjoy seeing Perth kissing different boys. We had another parental forgiveness moment which I hate but at least she's moving away and I won't have to see her again. I love Faifa and as much as I hate saying goodbye to YothaGun, it's gonna be fun to watch him and Wine. I do hope just like ArcArm, I still get some crumbs from those two.

Boy Next World Episode 6

Say what you will about Mame but she can deliver a sex scene like no one else. I like that Phu has agency here and that there's real communication happening around and during the nc scenes. Boss and Noeul also deliver as usual but I find the dynamic a little too similar to LITA, and I don't love that. I think it happens more when it comes to Noeul, although I concede that I'm often too distracted by Boss's face to notice much of anything at all, but there are moments that I'm seeing Rain instead of Phu. Fake dating seems to be the go-to these days to keep psychos away and I'm not mad about it. That mother though. His stalking tendencies notwithstanding, it’s a wonder Cir is a functioning human at all. I really like the sides and I adore Jin.

Sangmin Dinneaw Episode 7

This show continues to be the weirdest. And I don't know what I did to deserve this but I think I got a double prize today. Amnesia plot my beloathed and some noble idiocy to follow. At least when it comes to the amnesia we were warned. Although I'm not sure when he actually remembered, so he might not have had amnesia at all. Honestly, who knows with this show? Half the time, I have no idea what's happening, and the other half, I wish I didn't. That scene with the sides gave us the usual whiplash, and the scene with the mother was just insane. It's psycho mom's day, apparently. At least with this one, we got to see some mom-on-mom fighting. It's all bonkers but at least there's only one more episode to go. Sangmin better have a damn good reason for leaving, although I doubt it. At least let me have some fluff from these two, cause they are cute. Also why is the hotel dude still breathing?

There was a moment when perhaps an oops was edited out. Did Jimin mention a brand name accidentally?

They got a kick out of whatever he said because then they recalled that time Tae kept saying brand names during their live back in LA.

JK's face was incredulous like "wtf dude shut up"

Some members were called.

There was a comment about making Tae and Namjoon speak to each other... ??? What in the name of spillage of tea and inside jokes was this about?

Jungkook Facetimes Tae.

So is this where Tae finds out Jimin and JK are doing a travel show? And was JK worried Tae would start saying something about not getting to ride motorbikes? HAHAHAHHAAA welp... we don't know what that was all about.

JK hanging up on Tae was priceless.

Tae cusses him out via text and JK tries to de-escalate with "i love you". JK thought it was hilarious. I wonder if it is not often he gets the upper hand in this dynamic? The push and pull has not abated.

Yoongi's deadpan "what?" when Jimin called: tell me you get a lot of frivolous phone calls from Park Jimin without telling me you get a lot of frivolous and pointless calls from Park Jimin.

Some reflecting happens...

Jimin says regardless of how its going so far, he thinks its good he came so Jungkook could travel around and relax as he embarks on his first solo promotions. Jungkook says he is grateful and Jimin says he has regrets and Jungkook brushes it off. Just enjoy it now he says. I think this is the moment they both relax and they are back in their groove. Jungkook really needs quality time with his Jimin. Just enjoy... finally... that's where JK is at this point.

Finally, lights out. There's a camera in there but its too dark... we only hear this:

Jimin: "You seem cold, Jungkook. Come here." (I suspect Jimin may be running a temp at this time)

Jungkook: "I'll sleep without the blanket." (In an attempt to make Jimin comfortable.)

Jimin: "Come here, Jungkook." (insisting)

They were sleeping in very close proximity. It's a miracle if JK did not catch the stomach bug too.

The snoring that is loud enough you can actually hear it even with the music track and sound effects playing:

MMA elbows flew in the night and Jimin got smacked in the nose. It even swoll up a bit. Also, more diarrhea. My man didn't get much sleep. He was miserable.

Crew delivers pepto, JK pours a dose but does Jimin down it? We aren't sure because we don't see it. My man... please help yourself out of this (literal) mess. Though we only see the pepto being delivered I will assume other precautions were taken in that they made him drink plenty of fluids, took his temp, contemplated whether to abort the mission, etc. Knowing Jimin, he declined that last option.

Jungkook: "you came all the way here for nothing but pain."

Jimin: "I came so far ... smacked by your elbow... stomach bug... I can't even eat... and I had a fever, why am I even here? it gets sadder by the moment..."

They were laughing about it. What else could they do? It was a genuine moment.

So Jimin slept while Jungkook made himself some coffee.

Me either, Jungkook. Need coffee.

And spent some time building a rock cairn tower so he could send up some wishes to the universe. That was something else.

It was such a precious thing to watch.

Please no falling in the water, no explosive diarrhea, no broken bones or loss of blood... well... that last one though... little did they know.

In my opinion, even though Jimin was struggling with his illness, the activities were healing and bonding. We'll have to wait for the behinds to see what else happened. I wonder if they will release that this week or wait and drop them after the final episode in September.

Regardless, I am thankful for this window we get to see them together, after two years of knowing Jimin was working so hard and seeing Jungkook light up time after time, wanting to see him, especially the first half of 2023.

They are together right this minute, though they are the most isolated members of the group from whatever is happening. Not knowing how much information they are able to receive about what's going on, I know they will at least have each other to talk to until things get resolved.

On to Episode 2...

I just want to say thank you for your posts/reactions to the show. You seem most level headed and respectful towards what they have shown us about their dynamic. The amount of judgement I have seen made by so called Jikookers is terrible, especially towards JK, Apparently, he cannot do anything right towards Jimin, and apparently that means they aren't together, or are in a situationship gone wrong.

I watched the show without going on here or twitter, and to be honest I wish I had stayed off, because it has really dampened my mood since. I know I shouldn't let others influence me; and that's not it, but more that I feel rage about the judgemental comments and attasks on their characters and bond, if that makes sense?

I honestly do not know what people's expectations of the show were going in, but I think mine were met - there was a nice balance of best friends energy, with a peak of something more there. And I expected that, the bro bit, its not like they were going to full on make out or anything, but I feel that is what people were expected, or it was the only thing going to make people happy.

What we got is a peak into their very real 'daily' bond so to speak, and correct me if I am wrong, but this is something we have had hints of (which many people seem to have not grasped) but never put on display like this - in fact for any member/s to have this amount of dedicated screen time? So we see they like to tease, flirt and bicker. In my opinion that is a wonderful dynamic, its interesting, keeps you on your toes, ensures things don't get boring.

I've been married 7 years and am testament to the fact that often my partner and I bicker something chronic, in cars, in supermarkets, at home, you name it. Its normal, but again, people are making it out that JK is mean to Jimin or worse, and I just don't get that. They know which buttons to press, how to tease, how to pull back - that is peak domestic behaviour to me. 

That leads me to my other point, the car talk, I also expected this going in, but whilst I think there were cuts in the scene for sure, and maybe some mistranslations who knows? What I took from it was that they hadn't been able to make 'quality time for the other in a while, but they had for sure seen each other (for example - only weeks prior at D-Day Seoul). In fact to me, it was giving, but you've made no time for me, we only see each other when we wake up and go straight to work vibes - not that I am saying that exactly, more that the quality time seems key - and again, in any relationship you need that, you need that break from work, from the routine and the mundane of daily living/life, and I suspect that was the issue. But we knew this, we knew from how JK acted on lives that he was missing Jimin, and then vice versa later on, during their busy periods. I don't think they held back in showing that, especially JK. They let us be a part of that, showed us, so why is that new information to a lot of people?

I don't, or we don't truly know what they are to one another, people are making assumptions left right and centre at, landing on situationship. Maybe that is the case, who knows. But what I saw, was two people who know each other deeply, and domestically, and imo that does not come from not seeing each other or spending time together at home. For example, Jimin knew exactly how to cut up the onions without JK really saying anything, they have inside jokes that they laugh at but we are left wondering, they give looks to each other too, they are so fond of the other, and can spend a lot of time together (something I think is inherent in romantic relationship, and sometimes not even then, people need their space), Jimin knew JK's favourite spices to use, he only has to ask JK to cook him food and he does and wants to make it right/nice for him, they are so soft with/and care for the other (which makes this more about just sex to me), they banter like nobody's business, JK is so talkative around JM, JK looking like he wants to coo when JM eats his steak sandwich, and so much more. These habits, and rituals, and ways of being aren't born out of situationships, or hook ups, or even just friendship - because let's face it, the members are meant to have lived apart for 4 years + years now, you would forget the nuances of friends, or they would develop new ones over those years - jikook don't give out that vibe, they know the other and know each other well.

To conclude my very long post, I loved the show, and I value it, for they have created it for us to enjoy with them, seeing them feel free (and how often they said that) was truly beautiful to witness. Them walking around Walmart without masks on or being approached much (and when they were it was respectful). Truly lovely.

So I have a big question, how could a transgender person be in the omegaverse, taking into account that gender doesn't matter much and the dynamic (A/B/O) is the most important thing. What would an Alpha male be like, who feels that the right thing for him is to be Omega? Sorry for my bad English.

okay, two disclaimers - I am not trans (peanut gallery - if you are trans please give your take below, I'm sure anon would appreciate hearing from someone with lived experience), and second I'll be answering this from a traditional omegaverse perspective - the most conservative and strict style.

He'd probably become very isolated - as it would be difficult for him to connect with others in his peer group (alpha males) and may harbor deep resentment towards them for their chauvinistic/brash attitudes or how they treat betas/omegas. This isolation may be physical - not going out much, squirreling himself away or it might be more mental - such as not giving out any personal details, having a "nothing behind those eyes" look all the time, floating around like a ghost.

Depending on his family/friend/circle's consensus on what the purpose of being an omega is, he might feel a great deal of shame and anger. This could turn into something I haven't seen written about often but is interesting - where he knows deeply that he is an omega but hates himself for it, wishing he could've only been the alpha other people see him as. This might influence him to start overcompensating with is "alpha-mask" hoping to lean so far into this persona that he can convince himself and others he's just the most alpha-y alpha to ever alpha.

If he feels compelled to engage with behaviors understood to be "omega" like nesting - it will be done in a private place he knows other people will not find it. If his own home/room isn't a good place for this, perhaps he might have a hideout somewhere - a safe space where he can be himself.

It would be great if he had a confidant or unlikely friend who he was able to open up to about who he was - I'd suggest a female omega for his because of the great political/gender divide that lies between them both in gender and dynamic - and there are many ways they could play this relationship to make it look acceptable to be seen together.

He may feel extremely depressed, ashamed, angry, etc... when he goes through ruts or experiences attraction to those he deems "not appropriate". Obviously, being trans and sexual attraction are not the same thing, but I'm sure it would be hard to seperate the two when being around another omega makes him basically froth at the mouth and become a slave to his alpha hormone's sex drive. I'm sure he would find that behavior disgusting and may have a lot of mental/emotional conflict if he found himself unable to stop lusting after an omega in a way that he feels is "alpha". If I were authoring his story, I might have him find acceptance and romantic love in the arms of the female omega he befriends - showing that loving omegas was just who he was, not just part of being in an alpha body.

In terms of what he might do to transition - perhaps he might seek out scent blockers, rut control, and other hormonal aids to take the edge off. Nothing could really be done about his height, and he would need several surgeries (possibly experimental depending on your au) to solve the rest if that's something he was even interested in.

Other things to think about - the specific culture he lives in and others' he might intersect with, how the alpha might struggle separating who he is as a man apart from who he is as an alpha, what biological/cultural signifiers communicate his dynamic to other people (would he have an easier time if he just moved somewhere else??), and a billion others.

Like I said, I am not trans and since omegaverse uses a two part gender model I don't think we can reliably conceive of all of the things that one would have to think about if they wanted to change how they were perceived in one half only.

Hello anon! No, I do not recall getting any asks of the sort before, but thank you for asking nonetheless.

As for your question, I've two dynamics I absolutely crave, in fanon and canon. Number one of all time is my darling little shitstarter lambo twins!

First of all, why is it the case that, ever since the g1 cartoon and the comics, has Sunstreaker been completely left out of most canon transformer media? Sideswipe's popped up a good few times since (Armada, RiD2015, Bay movies), but they always leave Sunny out of it for whatever reason. They're a set and shouldn't be seperated :<

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a twin and a giant Sunstreaker fan, but I really wish hasbro would pick their whole dynamic back up in some mainline property (I don't even care if they're side characters, I'm desperate). They've charmed me ever since I watched the g1 cartoon, and I've always get so disappointed whenever I see Sideswipe somewhere without his brother (they don't even elude to him being somewhere off-screen or anything, he simply doesn't exist!).

As for fanon Sunny and Sides, I'm glad that fandom picks up some slack from all the lack of Sunnys, but I also feel like we could do with more Sunny&Sides-centric fanfics that aren't, ah, incest porn. Also, the commonly-referenced 'twin-bond' is very very interesting, along with their general backstory as gladiators in Kaon like Megatron. Combined with the mild consensus among fans that Sunstreaker and Sideswipe are some of the youngest Autobots, I feel like there's just so much you can do with these characters--but unfortunately, since they hardly show up in any official properties anymore, they aren't the most popular subject of fan-content.

EHEM, enough about my favorite condement-colored duo, my second pick for my favorite underrated dynamic is Starscream and Sunstorm.

I would love more of Sunstorm and. . . well, anyone (hasbro has a habit of fridging any gold-colored character that isn't Bumblebee, I assume), but I think his dynamic with Starscream would be the most interesting.

In most continuites he's in, he's a clone of Starscream, but also happens to act nothing like him most of the time (prolly due to a combination of being raised in a tube and subsisting himself primarily on religious delusions). Throw in an 'unwilling cloning experiment' spin on Starscream's part and I feel like we've got the ingredients for the world's most interesting family(ish) dynamic.

For this to even have a chance of coming to pass in canon though, hasbro would have to let Sunstorm out of the basement they locked him in and they'd have to let Starscream get within 100 feet of an interesting character arc, so chances are slim.

Fanon, however. . . the scant few media I can find focusing on Starscream and Sunstorm are always superb, but just like with Sunstreaker, I feel like there's always so little content with Sunstorm in it simply because people forget he exists, which is a shame. I love my strange radioactive catholic son.

Some underrated dynamic honorable mentions: Starscream & Optimus/Orion (In my heart of hearts I cannot let Starop go), Starscream & Prowl (I've read two [count em, two] very good fics with Prowl&Starscream interactions and they haven't left my brain since), and the Aerialbots & Stunticons (more media should focus on the fact that they're all newbuilds, for humor and/or angst purposes).
