the triumphant return! thanks for the tag @silluuuu, i've missed this little weekly snippet-sharing game dearly. i am deep in the resbang trenches these days (and i cannot WAIT to share what i've been cooking up for that 🪽) but i've ALSO been chipping away at King of My Heart after somewhat of a hiatus. i humbly offer this small excerpt of Chapter 6 (the engagement gala) on this lovely sunday:

“What a piece of work,” Soul mutters under his breath, careful to keep his voice low enough that only the princess can hear. “I see why you punched him in the face last year.”  “How do you—” Maka's jaw drops, her expression twisting into one of complete shock. “How do you know about that?” “There's this wonderful little thing called the World Wide Web,” Soul smirks. “And pictures of your fist against Prince Ford's face happen to be all over it.”  “You…” Maka blinks rapidly, and seems to remember they're surrounded by virtually all of European royal society at the present moment. She grabs him by the collar with her free hand and yanks him forward to whisper in his ear; Soul’s gut clenches eagerly in response to being manhandled in such a way, and he decides he’d rather not examine that too closely. “You looked me up before all this?!” “Should I… not have?”

i know i haven't updated KOMH in a while ;___; my intention for this year is to commit to finishing it, or getting as damn close to finishing it as possible. i appreciate everyone's patience and support in the meantime; the past few months have been very hard for me with both some health issues i've been battling and... *gestures vaguely at everything* :')

i'll tag @mellancholy-morose @worldismyne and @vuiturebeetlesnake - no pressure to share, but if you've got any fresh words i'd love to see em!
