Timely Words from a Republican
“We lead the world because, unique among nations, we draw our people—our strength—from every country and every corner of the world. And by doing so we continuously renew and enrich our nation
. Thanks to each wave of new arrivals to this land of opportunity, we're a nation forever young, forever bursting with energy and new ideas, and always on the cutting edge, always leading the world to the next frontier. This quality is vital to our future as a nation. If we ever closed the door to new Americans, our leadership in the world would soon be lost.” – Ronald Reagan, 1989

Day trip: Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation.
I've never been, and I'm trying to do more stuff I've never done in my home state.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weiner mobile, Rosa Parks Bus (no sign indicating which seat she sat in though, the attending employee will tell you if you ask), Lincoln assassination chair. The blood is really still there. It was so much blood.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
McDonald's sign, Lamys Diner, a cool blue car, JFKs presidential limo, the Reagan Presidential limo got rid of the convertible top and opted for 2 person sunroof,
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fokker Arctic exploration plane, Wright Brothers first successful plane. A half clay half metal car I thought they only made for commercials. They have so much racing history it was cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Food from Ford's Garage (not associated with the museum or Ford, just smart capitalization), and I got to see the sunset at a lake.
The museum has two restaurants. Lamys Diner. A traditional train car diner (love) that I did not know was really serving food until I heard clinking plates. I wanted to dine there, but it was too late by the time I realized. Also I don't eat in restaurants, cause panny.
And my punishment for enjoying myself? nails in two tires. This is why I don't go anywhere.

Wright Brothers Day: Celebrating the Birth of Modern Aviation
Every year on December 17, the United States observes Wright Brothers Day to commemorate the first successful powered flight in history. On this day in 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright achieved what many believed to be impossible, changing the course of human history forever. Their groundbreaking flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, marks the beginning of modern aviation and serves as a testament

đŸ‡ș🇾 As we approach Chrysler's 100th anniversary, Frank B. Rhodes Jr., great-grandson of company founder Walter P. Chrysler, is raising concerns about the brand’s future and wants to take action to rescue it. In a recent open letter to “investors and workers,” Rhodes announced his plan to revitalize Chrysler and its related brands—Dodge, Ram, and Jeep—under new “American” ownership.
🚗 Stellantis, the current parent company of Chrysler, has come under criticism from Rhodes for its management of the brand, which he claims has been severely neglected. The Chrysler brand currently offers only one vehicle, the Pacifica minivan, while several promising concept cars, such as the Chrysler Airflow, were shelved before reaching production. Rhodes highlighted Stellantis’ focus on European brands like CitroĂ«n and Peugeot, arguing that Chrysler has been left behind.
đŸ’Œ Rhodes, who has been a Chrysler ambassador for over 40 years, points to his family’s legacy and his own ownership of the final Chrysler 300C as reasons for his dedication to the brand. He submitted a 17-page proposal to Stellantis executives, inviting them to a confidential discussion on reviving Chrysler. His plan includes giving equity stakes to employees, echoing the worker-centered vision of his great-grandfather, who founded the company on principles of American ingenuity and innovation.
📉 Rhodes also expresses concern about the future of Dodge, which has focused heavily on electric vehicles (EVs) despite its core customer base being more interested in American muscle and performance cars. He argues that Stellantis’ push toward an all-electric lineup by 2028 for Chrysler is out of step with market trends, where hybrids are gaining popularity. The all-electric path, Rhodes warns, could be disastrous for the brand’s future.
🔧 Despite these challenges, Rhodes remains optimistic about the potential to rebuild Chrysler as a symbol of blue-collar luxury and innovation. He is calling for a return to American-designed and built products, and greater autonomy for Chrysler and Dodge within Stellantis. Rhodes’ ultimate goal is to rescue the brand from what he sees as poor management and ensure that Chrysler survives to celebrate its next century.
🚹 As Chrysler fans prepare for the 100th anniversary celebrations next summer, including a large event in Pennsylvania, Rhodes is urging action to prevent the brand from fading into obscurity. Without intervention, he warns, Chrysler’s future looks bleak.

I may or may not be compiling a chronological list of nearly every locomotive ever directly because of starlight express
#I’ve got down 103 locos so far#this was born out of frustration of not being able to find a chronological list of electric trains#bc visually Electra looks most like the SNCF CC40100#like their helmet n shit#which makes sense because they’re quad voltage and not ac or dc (like in the song) and also incooperated several different#innovations in electric locomotives#but it also doesn’t make any sense. bc the cc 40100 was like from the 60s and Electra is the engine of the future and everything#so I wanted to look at what electic locos were made in the 80s for autism purposes#anyways. I did land on one- there are two prototypes made in the 80s based on the cc 40100#which is the SNCF BB 20011 and the SNCF BB 20012#which have the same visual design as the cc 40100 and when you look up pictures of em have lightning bolts on the side#and they’re prototypes which I like to imagine Electra is#and they’re only dual voltage not quad voltage but Electra’s like ac dc it’s okay by me so it still fits#admittedly they weren’t really prototyping anything exciting and I would’ve preferred an american engine as opposed to a french one but#beggars canïżœïżœt be choosers.#if you can’t tell by now this entire post was an excuse to infodump about trains#so I am going to tag the stex fandom. to make my train autism everyone else’s problem#idk if the tag will even register I once read that only the first seven tags actually make any effect on the tagging system but who caressss#stex#the story of the locomotive who raced against a horse and lost and the locomotive that was powered by a horse shall wait till another day.

Funny to quote what was in reality a very mediocre president, now mainly remembered for starting the dismantling of whatever little of a welfare state there was in America back then. He didn't even cause the collapse of the Soviet Union for which he is celebrated, a historical inevitability linked to the mortality of its leaders that just happened to happen shortly after his presidency. Just because the GOP has elevated him to their patron saint, when they could have had Lincoln. Or even Eisenhower.
But yes, he had good, non-Alzheimer speech writers...

An open letter to the U.S. Congress
Co-sponsor the American Stability Act to end income inequality!
624 so far! Help us get to 1,000 signers!
As your constituent, I am urging you to co-sponsor the American Stability Act (ASA). The American Stability Act is a bold, elegant solution to the threat posed by destabilizing levels of inequality.
The American Stability Act does the following:
-ELIMINATES FEDERAL TAXES for any taxpayer making less than the median cost of living for a single adult with no children (slightly above $40,000 a year);
-SHIFTS the responsibility for these revenues onto taxpayers making more than $1 million a year;
-REPLACES the ‘minimum’ wage with a new “Stability Wage,” which is set to the median cost of living in the US for a single adult with no children, and then indexes it to make that principle permanent.
We need bold, innovative reform. Lawmakers like you must structure a more stable, prosperous economy that will deliver the results we need for a strong nation.

📆 On August 21, 1897, Ransom Olds founded Olds Motor Works after successfully building his first gas-powered vehicle.
⚙ In its first year, Olds Motors produced just four vehicles. However, after securing an investment from businessman Samuel Smith, the company began mass-producing automobiles using Olds' innovative automotive assembly line. By 1903, Oldsmobile had become the largest automaker in the U.S., though Ransom Olds departed in 1904 due to disputes over the company’s direction. A few years later, Oldsmobile was acquired by General Motors.
🚘 During its nearly century-long run with GM, Oldsmobile pioneered innovations like the automatic transmission and introduced iconic models such as the Cutlass, Toronado, and 88.
