really disappointing that bunjywunjy had to be pestered twice just to quietly remove their reblog after using their huge platform to encourage garbage like raving about the lesbian estonian soviet flag and how 'new pride flag just dropped' so people could go 'ooh pretty' about a flag that was forced onto us by ppl who wanted our culture gone and oppressed us for about a century in total if not more.
to say nothing or not show anything of the truth about that flag and quietly remove the reblog felt more like it was done out of obligation (and you didn't agree) rather than care for the subject matter that is still a fresh wound in our country's memory. it's only been 33 years since it ended.
I'd rather you make the mistake about something you didn't know (eastern european history is easy for westeners to overlook, because we're not a big country like them, we're not england or france or spain or germany) and admit/apologize for said mistake or even just outright state that you don't actually care rather than say nothing and quietly remove something so that people would stop talking about it
#regardless of your opinions on communism the ussr was a tragedy for much of eastern europe#and we still suffer under its effects today#did you know that when the ussr occupied us that estonians couldn't even be the majority of the population in our own country?#they flooded in and tried to make our country like them#they arrested anyone who wore the colors of our flag#and all while they settled into our countries (it wasnt just estonia but amywhere they occupied) they forcefully deported us out of it#into moving steel boxes of the trains in the harsh winter#people packed in like anchovies with barely any room to die from the starvation#but nobody talks about that#nobody cares about eastern europe#nobody bothers#so i get american tankies telling me garbage like how im just reciting 'CIA propaganda'#as if i give a fuck about what some yankoid organization in some unrelated country says#our families lived that shit#at the time i was born the only people who couldve gotten an estonian birth certificate were still children#what do you think our mothers and fathers and grandmothers and grandfathers lived in?#people only care that a flag looks pretty#and not what the flag actually meant

“Jason should get over being upset about his death” - he has, he wasn’t angry at Bruce or the world because they failed him and he ended up dying, which he made clear plain as day and that’s about the most reasonable a person who went through what he went through could be
anyway I don’t think these people realize how gory being bludgeoned to near death is, and maybe it's because of the limitations of the medium that scene was presented in
#not to mention he had to process the added heartbreak of his birth mother’s rejection/betrayal at the same time#like yeah he was cocky and smiling in the uth movie go Jason go but that’s also the same movie that drastically changed the context#and tone of that scene by erasing Sheila#kelseethe#I remember the first time reading aditf I got flashbacks to a Korean horror movie that still puts me in a weird place#anyway it was about a serial killer who went around killing people by beating their skulls in with a hammer#one of the plots was centered around a victim who didn’t die after the first attack and even managed to escape at first#long story short she was running around trying to get help and the cops were useless + he ended up finding her again and finished the job#sfx brains skull blood and viscera everywhere#and that’s exactly what happened to Jason you just didn’t see any gore because it’s an American comic#nor did you hear his screams and the sounds from metal making contact with bone and guts#and like I said the uth movie was pretty sanitized too same for the titans show which also downplayed his death lol#anyway I think it’s really forgiving of Jason not to blame Bruce or anyone else for the fact that they let the circumstances lead to that#and to instead only criticize how nothing was done in the aftermath#Idk I always found it a bit fascinating how it doesn’t seem to have dawned on most people including his fans#exactly how violent that experience was

it's weird how some families have so much physical history and documentation going back generations and memoirs written by their great-great-grandfather etc and like in my family. i dont even know my grandfather's name. nobody does lol we dont know his identity. like how can some families be so well documented and then in other cultures its basically impossible to find that history especially if it was destroyed by colonization or war
#it seems like this is a particularly american thing tho idk why they always have like the full name and history#of like their great great great great grandmother's second cousin or whatever#i tried looking into my family records once online and literally the only thing in existence is a record of my fathers birth in the 1960s#in a london newspaper#i guess its cool to know the exact hospital he was born at cuz i didnt before but like i wouldnt have even been able to find that#if i didnt know some extremely specific information already#its just weird hearing about other families and how much they know!!!!!#txt

thank you for sharing the positives to being a leafs fan because it gets exhausting watching the entirety of the hockey world stomp over a team that is dealt with the shorter end of the stick. your content makes me still hold onto faith for a team that isn’t loved.
my question is: do you believe that the leafs hate he justified as much especially in comparison to other teams in the league?
the thing about the leafs is that they have one of the biggest and widest reaching fanbases in the sport (if you go to any games on the road, you'll immediately know what i'm talking about... every arenas like half full of em), but it feels sort of like a love them or hate them in the nhl itself bc of the amount of rivalries and history. that's not even taking into account their surface meme-ability in modern day for being unable to get deep into the playoffs. at least we no longer have to hear a deluge of first round jokes tbh.
i honestly don't think anyone holds as much contempt for the leafs as much as a certain section of their own fanbase so i've never viewed it as a leafs vs everyone else thing, though it definitely is that too lol. i ALSO hate a portion of this fanbase more than i hate any other team or its fans tbh bc of the way they talk about their own damn players. might as well cease to call yourself a fan at a certain point imo regardless of the fact that you grew up with the team or whatever. i don't actually think the leafs are like. targeted or everyone hates them the most (all original 6 teams take a fair bit of heat tbh), but their fans online are the reason a lot of like goofy polls and stuff always read as the leafs being the most annoying/biased/delusional group. it's hard to disagree in some ways. i guess i don't put myself in a position to see a lot of leafs hate in general? i don't follow people who hate them or interact with people who hate them beyond finding ppl in this fanbase who have such nasty things to say, lol, so that colors my perception but. for as much hate as you might see, the leafs are definitely one of if not the most loved team too. center of the hockey world, it's true it's true. you gotta take the hate with the love, but i also think a big part of hockey/sport culture is just chirping and insults in general so fkljdsl. being able to parse what's actual hate and just jokes is also important.
#easks#i do think toronto fans can get too big for their britches when they talk abt the sport in general and who it 'belongs' to#and who ~deserves~ certain things lmfao#if u love hockey.. the point of it should be to grow the game so more ppl can love it too.. not hoard it or#try to claim it only belongs to one place. its very silly#and i mostly see canadians doing that dumb shit so i think flkjsdfnh being an american who got into hockey and wasnt inundated#w sports culture from birth has colored the way i view this sport and team and how its talked about#joking around is one thing but i genuinely think the deep seated superiority complex from some ppl needs to die and is ugly#anyway. not a straightforward answer#i love the leafs and leafs fans ive found online and id prob love a lot of the normal fans in toronto itself but#the hardcore men who have been following this sport so long and taint it everywhere including online are the worst#hard not to see why theyre hated !! fjkdslj but i dont take the toronto hate as a personal slight to me bc#there are worse tor fans out there and they deserve to be shit on#not me tho. u stay safe-- FKLDSJFKLS im just here to love the guys and love watching hockey and chill

So we all know about the older generation freaking out about the birth decline right? And that one of the reasons has been that they're worried about not enough people around to care for them in their old age.
(Hence one reason why supposedly there was a push to revoke Roe V. Wade because that would magically solve it. [even though lots of women died of birth related complications prior to Roe and now people are literally getting themselves sterilized to prevent that fate.])
But anyways, I have a new theory, it's about real estate. If people are truly dying faster at a significant rate than people are being born, then one, a lot of us will be inheriting property. Two, there may be an excess of real estate very soon, if birth decline trends continue.
What is one of the hardest things in a person's life to attain, property a place to live. Which has definitely been used to control people.
There's also a fact that real estate up until fairly recently was considered one of the safest ways of investing money. Most people would rather sell their home than not pay their mortgage.
What are the two ways that rich people make money without labor or control their workforce (if they're even business owners at all.)?
In interest, via people paying for their mortgages and in owning and renting property. Who's going to bother renting if there's a bunch of houses? How worthwhile will their many acres be if there's a ton of empty houses? Their land won't be gaining value just by existing in their names anymore.
If a true excess of houses happens, then the main money in real estate ventures will actually be in repairing them, maintaining them, and customizing them. All jobs that would be considered blue collar work that actually requires real labor.
The rich people paid various analysts to say that a declining birth rate would make the old people not get care (Which makes sense because the party that serves the richest also tends to be voted for via old people.) So they chose a fear that most of their voters would care about to take advantage of...
But yeah, it's about real estate and banks and not making interest anymore for doing nothing but holding onto resources. Also obviously the less people there are, the more valuable all laborers would be too. When there's more people than jobs, that's an employers market, right? They can lowball their workers and the workers have to go for it because they need a place to live and eat. Where there are more jobs than people, that's an employees market. Where the main negotiation actually favors them, because they are hopefully empowered to know that the company needs them more than they need that company.
#Capitalism#U.S. Politics#Mentions of Roe V Wade#Birth Decline#Using fear of dying old miserable and alone for their propaganda#Real Estate#Property Rights#U.S. Banks#Worker's Rights#The Proletariats vs the Bourgeoisie#Also this is very much the argument about college too.#College Admissions got harder when the average person began to be able to afford to go to college#Because the rich wanted to keep that less accessible... so they had one up on their impoverished counterparts.#But doing so all blatantly went against the ideals that supposedly the country is founded on...so they found another argument.#America is a Plutocracy masquerading as a Meritocracy.#The American Dream sells the idea that if you work hard you will be rewarded and become part of the elite class.#(But we know that's not correct.)#When your body is your only means of attaining wealth... your ability to gain wealth is directly dependent on your health.#And your health can go south by means entirely out of your control at any time.#Anyways there's nothing scarier on earth to those people than a level playing field.#Because it may put their wealth in jeopardy and definitely puts their delusions that they 'earned' it in jeopardy.

wait i just remembered. on friday we has a "awesome committee" staff meeting which is apparently just a meeting for staff to like. bring food. play games. and bond with each other? and this week we played two truths and a lie
mine were i have only broken one bone and it wasn't even my fault (lie), i'm the youngest of five children (true), and i dislocated my arm six times before the age of seven (also true)
so many people picked the youngest of five children as the lie. one person commented that they thought i might have four sibling but i don't give off youngest child energy or something
what does that mean
what. what energy do i give off. what birth order vibe do i have. i just remember this happened and it has been haunting me ever since
#personal#two truths and a lie#birth order#what does this mean.#my energy is 'adhd golden retriever who is too eager for their own good and also can't stay still for too long'#like even if i excluded my half siblings i'm still the youngest of three kids#i mean i think i give off a very confident vibe (false) because my fellow interns do seem to come to me with questions#i've always blamed the false competence vibe on my english accent though. americans just assume english = smart for some reason#which is super funny bc my family is from northern england#which is traditionally a very working class accent#not the smart posh southern one#also idk if i play two truths and a lie differently than other people but. i was prepared for cross examination.#no hesitation i was expecting people to ask questions. what bone? when? how did you break it?#but apparently that isn't how other people play this game#idk to me it's an improv game!! you have to convince people of all three!#also rip sorry to bill who worked in DCS for a time i promise i was not an abused child i was just clumsy as fuck with weak ass joints#he was like 'uhhh i hope that last one is the false one bc my work history means i get worried!!'#m8 the only time i actually remember dislocating my arm happened when my sister literally just. pushed me off the arm of the couch#i just landed wrong#we were watching tom and jerry and did the game kids do. where i sat on the arm of the chair. she pushed me off.#i sat back on the arm of the chair. she shoved me off. rinse and repeat until i dislocated my arm#sometimes you're a child and you just like being surprise shoved off of things onto the floor#some of the other times were just like. i tripped while holding my mum's hand. my mum did not let go of my hand.#and my arm joint decided to side with gravity i guess#actually the six times before the age of seven is a slight exaggeration. it was before the age of 5.#5 or 4#shoutout to the 'click clack moo' book i had that received the high honor of getting my from-the-doctor-panda-sticker attached to it#ALSO do people play two truths and a lie with their lie being like one (1) tiny detail in an otherwise true fact being the lie??#i just straight up lie. i just say something that has never once happened to me#if i say something you know to be MOSTLY true about me then the whole thing is probably true

Spent all of yesterday studying on the problem of Nationality and the creation of a National Identity and ngl I haven't stopped thinking and trying to figure out how yankee's modern idea of nationality came to be, specifically thinking of white American people who say they're of a nationality based on "ancestry" with no personal cultural ties to it
#rambling#Not meaning to swing at the hornet's nest lol#But i think as a latinamerican guy in latinoamérica i think i can say with confidence this is something none of us understand about the USA#I think it's probably at least partially influenced by nazi ideas of nationality which evoked Nations as biologically inherent#And all nations having one singular race and language which bound them together from birth and gave them the right to their own land#somewhere along the way this also morphed into white americans claiming to be of national identities they have little to no contact with#based on their bloodlines and family history#it could be the american State's inability to create a national identity that matches the historical characteristics of its territory#Trying to build a national identity around nazi-like ideas of a white christian ethnostate in a place where the cultural diversity does not#allow such a plan to ever come into fruition unless they were to take on totalitarist strategies#Coupled with thw USA's history of slavery and open discrimination against non-white peoples creating the phenomenon of white guilt#So white people who dont agree with the ethnocentric facets of their national identity feel the need to ''flee'' their race and nationality#But since their construct of nationality is blood-based to say it in a way the only escape they can think of is escaping to a reality based#on a past and present they have never experienced themselves in hopes to be ''absolved'' of blame and freed of guilt#... But that's my guess lol#Also again specifically talking about white USA people with no or only tangential ties to the identity they claim

Every so often on the internet, somebody tells me I'm "not Black", either because they saw me and I'm lighter skinned or because of some random, fucked up belief they have about what constitutes a Black person, and I really need y'all to get a grip. Someone can live their entire life as a Black person, with Black parents and grandparents and siblings and cousins and aunties and uncles, then get on the bird app in 2023 and have weirdos tell them they're not Black, or y'all favorite new term "white passing" just because they're lighter than I guess Kelly Rowland and like...
We understand that having lighter skin is a privilege and everything, but it isn't being white. I'm nowhere near whiteness, and people irl remind me every day. I'm not even directly mixed with anything (I'm mixed the same way most African Americans are mixed, and my dark skinned brother and sister have the exact same admixture. DNA is amazing and capable of anything.)
I swear to God, y'all have got to stop telling people they're mixed, white, white passing, or whatever else just because someone isn't dark skinned online. We have lived entire lives before you saw us, and we have an entire family that you have never seen. You cannot tell us who we are.
#tw racism#white passing#African American discourse#african american#Black people only#Meghan Markle#halle berry#tagging them because they're high profile targets of this#but they at least are actually mixed race#I'm not#my mom is black#my dad was black#i look exactly like both of them#so they are my legitimate birth parents#i just somehow am lighter than my parents and siblings#i am the same color as my dad's little sister

every time fic dialogue keeps terms of endearment/family member names in the native language of the characters ("don't worry, jagiya" or "his umma/eomma made them breakfast") i'm reminded of someone commenting this exact phenomenon wrt the twilight books. i think it was in book 4 when one of the guest vampires asked renesmee "can i hold you, bebe linda?" and the person was like look maybe i'm just underinformed but that makes no sense. who does that? it breaks your flow in the sentence to randomly switch from one language to another. would you say can i hold you for a sec, słodkie maleństwo? and i die every time
#shrimp thoughts#i do wonder what would happen if one day a polish series became Lots Of Fics level popular. would people do the same i wonder#oh misiaczku i want your cock in me so much... she did some light shopping for her dziadkowie... ajtam ojtam* he said with a shrug#*untranslatable concept only present in the polish culture#is it like an american thing? a bilingual since birth thing? i have no idea but man it's Weird and feels very unnatural in a kp/op rpfic#like unless they're specifically korean-american in this au... i'm already assuming all the dialogues are in korean. why are we using#'ah uri aegi cmon get up' like what part of it carried nuances best left in korean

Memorial Day isn't even relevant anymore (if it ever was) because the only dead people that we need to remember are the hundreds of thousands of innocent victims, including the elderly, women, and children that the U.S, U.K., and Israeli militaries slaughter around the globe.
Happy Memorial Day
#happy memorial day you murderous mofos#bootlicking soldiers who kill children and make money for the billionaire class are not heroes or true patriots#i only reason that I halfway like memorial day is because it is a day off and hot dogs#american by birth not by choice#also the us military are rapists. they even rape their own troops#i have zero respect for the military from the bush and biden wars onward

Opinion Here’s how to get free Paxlovid as many times as you need it
When the public health emergency around covid-19 ended, vaccines and treatments became commercial products, meaning companies could charge for them as they do other pharmaceuticals. Paxlovid, the highly effective antiviral pill that can prevent covid from becoming severe, now has a list price of nearly $1,400 for a five-day treatment course.
Thanks to an innovative agreement between the Biden administration and the drug’s manufacturer, Pfizer, Americans can still access the medication free or at very low cost through a program called Paxcess. The problem is that too few people — including pharmacists — are aware of it.
I learned of Paxcess only after readers wrote that pharmacies were charging them hundreds of dollars — or even the full list price — to fill their Paxlovid prescription. This shouldn’t be happening. A representative from Pfizer, which runs the program, explained to me that patients on Medicare and Medicaid or who are uninsured should get free Paxlovid. They need to sign up by going to paxlovid.iassist.com or by calling 877-219-7225. “We wanted to make enrollment as easy and as quick as possible,” the representative said.
Indeed, the process is straightforward. I clicked through the web form myself, and there are only three sets of information required. Patients first enter their name, date of birth and address. They then input their prescriber’s name and address and select their insurance type.
All this should take less than five minutes and can be done at home or at the pharmacy. A physician or pharmacist can fill it out on behalf of the patient, too. Importantly, this form does not ask for medical history, proof of a positive coronavirus test, income verification, citizenship status or other potentially sensitive and time-consuming information.
But there is one key requirement people need to be aware of: Patients must have a prescription for Paxlovid to start the enrollment process. It is not possible to pre-enroll. (Though, in a sense, people on Medicare or Medicaid are already pre-enrolled.)
Once the questionnaire is complete, the website generates a voucher within seconds. People can print it or email it themselves, and then they can exchange it for a free course of Paxlovid at most pharmacies.
Pfizer’s representative tells me that more than 57,000 pharmacies are contracted to participate in this program, including major chain drugstores such as CVS and Walgreens and large retail chains such as Walmart, Kroger and Costco. For those unable to go in person, a mail-order option is available, too.
The program works a little differently for patients with commercial insurance. Some insurance plans already cover Paxlovid without a co-pay. Anyone who is told there will be a charge should sign up for Paxcess, which would further bring down their co-pay and might even cover the entire cost.
Several readers have attested that Paxcess’s process was fast and seamless. I was also glad to learn that there is basically no limit to the number of times someone could use it. A person who contracts the coronavirus three times in a year could access Paxlovid free or at low cost each time.
Unfortunately, readers informed me of one major glitch: Though the Paxcess voucher is honored when presented, some pharmacies are not offering the program proactively. As a result, many patients are still being charged high co-pays even if they could have gotten the medication at no cost.
This is incredibly frustrating. However, after interviewing multiple people involved in the process, including representatives of major pharmacy chains and Biden administration officials, I believe everyone is sincere in trying to make things right. As we saw in the early days of the coronavirus vaccine rollout, it’s hard to get a new program off the ground. Policies that look good on paper run into multiple barriers during implementation.
Those involved are actively identifying and addressing these problems. For instance, a Walgreens representative explained to me that in addition to educating pharmacists and pharmacy techs about the program, the company learned it also had to make system changes to account for a different workflow. Normally, when pharmacists process a prescription, they inform patients of the co-pay and dispense the medication. But with Paxlovid, the system needs to stop them if there is a co-pay, so they can prompt patients to sign up for Paxcess.
Here is where patients and consumers must take a proactive role. That might not feel fair; after all, if someone is ill, people expect that the system will work to help them. But that’s not our reality. While pharmacies work to fix their system glitches, patients need to be their own best advocates. That means signing up for Paxcess as soon as they receive a Paxlovid prescription and helping spread the word so that others can get the antiviral at little or no cost, too.
