north/south American creole languages are so beautiful... they tell a story of their speakers' survival despite the horrors and atrocities of slavery and of the endurance of love and hope and the human spirit throughout generations

#sadly I am USAmerican and I only really know about N/S American linguistics #creole language #I know we're boycotting eurovision bc of isr*el but from the Sranan Tongo Wikipedia page-#I came across Jeangu Macrooy's 2021 eurovision song 'birth of a new age' which has sranan tongo (surname creole) in the chorus-#and I cried so much lmao
