Thinking about your mother for your birthday.

In Spock’s dream he is young again and his mother, the same age as him, is climbing up the cliffs behind Spock’s family home. She is urging him to climb with her and he is trying. He knows she has something to tell him or something he wants to tell her - but they need to catch each other first, they need to be face to face. It’s urgent. His mother is laughing. He still hears her laughing, even as he looks up to see her plummeting, arms outstretched, an insouciant grin still affixed to her face.  “Spock-!” She says. She is not afraid. She exclaims it as if about to share with him some great discovery. And then he wakes up.

I particularly love Spockanalia for how personal it feels. It's like looking at doodles from close friends in the margins of a schoolbook, even all these years later. It was published when Trek was still in its first ever season (1967). The first 'zine!

Roddenberry himself even read Spockanalia as he received copies while the show was still in production.

Based on a meme I saw 😌 an explanation of my AU under the cut

I'm not good at writing but this is from an AU I have where Jim had a baby while Spock was doing the Kolinahr, Sarek didn't want him to be distracted so he never told him that he had a son (but Sarek still was full on board on being a grandpa, he's only shitty with Spock)

So Spock went straight to Vulcan after V-ger to sort some things out before going to earth and Jim never had the opportunity to tell him but he just assumed that he already knew since both Sarek and Amanda are so involved with Selik life (baby name) and they were currently taking care of baby while he was on that mission.

Anyway, Spock didn't knew because he went straight to the Entreprise after Kolinahr not even a hello for his parents.

He took Jim words literally and now has to navigate how to be a Sa-mekh to a grumpy 2 years old toddler 😌👍

I have just the beginning written and it is pretty depressing 🤗

I'm not the first, and with out a doubt not the last, but I edited Amanda and Sarek into a bunch of vintage paintings/illustrations your welcome. (I made way too many but whatever lol)

The Whitman's add is my favorite but I think all of them turned out pretty okay.

I wanted to do a little comic about how, given their diverse hand structure, Sarek can’t be fooled by a magic trick imagined for 5 fingered hands, like those of Spock. But it just turned out to be a wholesome page of Spock showing a magic trick to his parents, and I’m okay with it.

ok so um. i just watched yesteryear. fucking sobbing. wtf was that. why would they do this to me. im having baby spock feelings ;-;

right!!!! ahh it's so wonderful! spock going back in time to show his younger self grace and understanding with all the knowledge and acceptance he's learned from his friends :') what more could you want??

also fun fact: they used fanzine depictions of i-chaya to design him for the episode.  thanks alicia austin and lee burwasser :)

here are some more drawings by alicia austin published less than a year after yesteryear aired. i like to think they were drawn during those discussions, since fontana (who wrote it) said i-chaya's personality was based on that of her pet cat :)
