This is more of a concern than anything else.

The sunny ville smp is definitely advertising itself as a little Friendly space. I say that because of the q and a which said littles are allowed in the Minecraft server.

Which I find odd considering what their stance on littles used to be. (Which was you have to be alter age and body age over 13 to be on the internet)

It was also something they used while defending the age issues in the server. That they did not allow anyone under 13 (including alter age) because that was the TOS.

I'm not saying you can't change your stance on topics.

But I am saying it feels weird/wrong when you were using not allowing littles into your space as a defense. To now advertising to littles.

It's just a concern I had over the rebrand. The space they are creating feels directed towards younger audiences imo.

OK correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like the main 'yin/yang' parallel with Atsushi and Akutagawa is not something like 'this one is bad but secretly has a good side and this one is good but secretly has a bad side'.

I feel like it's more about 'who they are at their core vs who they choose to be'.

At his core Akutagawa is kind and at his core Atsushi is not. But despite this Atsushi tries every day to make the kinder choices and I love him so much for it. He has to work so hard to be good.

He wants to be a bitch SO bad I know he does but he tries his best to help people and be nice (sometimes he fails but that's OK <3)

Atsushi doesn't always WANT to help people, a lot of the time he's selfish and scared, but he does help people anyway. He keeps helping people over and over again. There's still some selfish motivation to it, and his initial motivation for helping people was because the headmaster told him that's all he was worth, but overall he does care about the people he helps and it weighs on him if he fails to save them. And of course, as the series goes on he starts helping people more because he can rather than because he feels like he needs to.

In Akutagawa's case, he's still capable of being kind but his environment led him into being someone who chooses to hurt people. But he's always been a protector at heart. In the start he was bad compared to Atsushi because he was choosing to hurt people and keep the cycle of abuse going. Just like how Atsushi developed in why he saved people, Akutagawa starts to get redeemed when he chooses to not just act on his rage. Not only does he start to spare people, but he speaks more kindly to them (apologising to Higuchi and telling Kyouka he's proud of her). It all culminates into the moment he chooses to help Atsushi and sacrifice himself for him, going back to his core value of being a protector. Even when he's finally revived, he keeps this role in his new position as Aya's Knight.

I kind of see the streaks of white in Akutagawa and the streaks of black in Atsushi not as their 'hidden sides' but as their fundamental selfs. That's who they are at their core, and their main colours (black for Akutagawa and white for Atsushi) are how they're presented to everyone else and how they try to have people see them as.

see that is totally possible except I really think that gabe lowkey idolized that man. like a reverence borne from humiliation. okay hold on i actually have a lot to say

like, I think that when gabe and emilie came crawling back to the graham de vanily's begging for help, emilie's father just completely humiliated gabriel. made it clear that he would never see him as anything other than a poor dressmaker unwelcome in their family and unworthy of his daughter. and ever since then, gabriel just had this deep insecurity festering inside him. he spent the rest of his life trying to claw his way up in status and wealth and respect.

and when emilie would complain about her parents, gabriel would agree and comfort her. but deep down, he didn't hate emil like emilie did. he respected him. he envied him. he wanted to be powerful like that. he wanted to be so important that no one could make him feel like a poor stupid dressmaker ever again.

I think that if nathalie had brought up emilie's father there at the end, it might've even had the opposite effect. that comparison might've bolstered his ego, made him even more confident in his decisions. he was the man of the house, the one calling the shots. no one could look down on him ever again.

and of course, this bled in obvious ways into gabriel's relationship with adrien. gabriel was obsessed with power and control, and dealt with his deep insecurity by elevating himself in importance above everyone else in his life. one of the most accessible ways for him to feel powerful and important was to exert control over adrien. and in many ways, this was gabriel re-enacting his own dynamic with emil, but giving himself the upper hand this time.

but it never worked. none of gabriel's power plays ever actually healed his insecurity about where he came from. he never, ever received emil's approval. all he ever did was drive himself insane and hurt everyone around him in the process.

i genuinely think the people who insist the life series is scripted just don’t understand the difference between something scripted and something that’s been given a basic premise and directives that everyone involved in agrees to play along with for the bit. like, no, specific moments aren’t scripted, but there’s a reason the series isn’t just “best pvper wins” and it’s because they deliberately prioritise entertainment over pure skill because the same person winning every time just wouldn’t be fun.

like, for the most part they’re a bunch of drama kids who have been given the perfect playground to act out the shakespearian tragedy of their dreams (some more so than others) (hello rendog) and they’re given the tools and situation to do so but everything else is just improv. and they’re also just having fun like i think we should all remember they’re doing this to have fun with their friends and play on a server where anything goes and they can grief all they want and sometimes they’ll just make stupid mistakes like walking off the side of a diving board and dying because they were so miffed about losing to a best tower competition they forgot where the stairs were, or blowing themselves up with their own tnt trap because they placed one block in the wrong place.

also i think people forget just how generally predictable people are in general, like after five seasons you can definitely start to guess how people will behave because they’re just like that. joel is reckless and he likes to poke the bear, martyn is good at staying alive but not good at keeping hearts (the difference between winning limlife and going out early in secret life), scott is good at the social game and a formidable opponent but also terribly self sacrificial, bdubs will betray anyone he’s allied with if offered something good, etc etc etc

turbo is connected to the last piece of his code in the whole arcade - a trophy he gifted to felix in mid 80s as a symbol of him genuinely caring about their relationships on par with being the best racer. felix also gave him one of his medals and both kept their gifts next to other rewards, but when roadblasters and turbotime were unplugged, the medal was gone with everything else

now, after burning in cola-lava turbo is basically dead, but scraps of his code still were intertwined with the trophy (after all, it was his first winner's cup, but felix never knew about it), giving turbo an opportunity to exist as a shadow incapable of interacting with anything and anyone besides felix, who kept the trophy even after the roadblasters incident
