Hey, I hope this isn't too rude considering you already have an effing mountain of asks in your inbox, but I wanted to express my gratitude. No pressure to respond; I just hope you see it, and it makes you smile. Just read the pink out of this word salad; my kink is that I feel the need to explain my reasoning like a proper STEM idiot.

Probably oversharing here, but:

For the last two years or so, I've started to believe that the only men who would accept me were those that needed me as their therapist rather than a partner. I don't mean just listening to them; I mean them struggling with mental health crises and me having to pick up the pieces like the empathetic dumbass I am (and them being too scared to call the hospital). These are just the sort of people I seem to attract. As you can imagine, that did wonders for my self-worth and future perception of people who hit on me.

I already consider myself an eccentric woman. Among other things, my libido often feels insatiable. I write smut both on and off tumblr, the latter of which is some of the most nonsensical, most embarrassing, most bizarre shit I have ever written. 783 pages since 2020, the last 100 pages of which have been me realizing I have a deep-seated desire to be a cocksleeve. It's hard enough to tell people how much I care about having a healthy, passionate sexual relationship without bringing any of that into the mix.

(end explanation, TL;DR I attract shitty men and am insecure as hell about my own sexual preferences.)

All of that has made me despair on numerous occasions that I will ever get to know someone who both actually loves me and wants to fuck the absolute shit out of me.

But blogs like yours have lifted me out of that hellhole of anxiety more than once. Seeing both your own fantasies and the way you respond to your asks makes me feel like I'm not doomed to a relationship where I will have to sacrifice a large part of myself for the other person's sake. It makes me think: "People like this exist somewhere."

And as to you attracting shitty men, I understand how exhausting and how heavy it might be the burden to carry the responsibility over someone’s mental health issues. But I think that also says a lot about your character, how you’re someone who’s really caring. Who wants to help these people, which is an amazing thing but it can be problematic if you don’t set boundaries. Which is a hard thing to do (I know because I’m bad at that…) it’s healthy to focus on your own mental health, your own problems. Especially when we have very little energy left.

And you aren’t doomed for that type of relationship I believe. And I hope you eventually find the right person who’ll love you and not make you responsible over their mess (and also fuck the shit out of you, fingers crossed). So it’s just a matter of time

Finally was able to get my hands on a copy of The Lost Boys Novelization.

There were some very cringy artistic choices, but this is a better example of what I expect from a novelization of a movie/tv series.

Here are things I liked:

It expands on lore: we get more insight into vampire “tells” such as salt on the feet and vulnerability to running water

It includes scenes that didn’t make it into the movie to again, expand the story, not take away from it. Deleted scenes: The Boys “pranking” Lucy, Maria, and the dates with Max.

Any added or dropped dialogue did not change the tone of the scene or the overall narrative.

Not as much as I’d like, but more insight into Star, The Boys, and Michael’s internal conflicts.

What I found cringe:

The drive by angst of Michael and Star. It was very, “I’m so misunderstood, I’m a teenager, whahhh.” And “I’m so drawn to them, can’t explain why.” There was really no build up and the movie takes place in two weeks, if that. They dedicated like a few sentences to the attraction and yearning, and I just didn’t feel it. I think the movie did a better job of conveying it though.

The “Lost Boys” is the name of their “gang.” I thought it was so effing cringy they kept referring to the group as The Lost Boys. Like, wut? I get the title of the movie is reflective of the idolization of youth and partying forever akin to the Lost Boys of Peter Pan and Neverland, but the general public I don’t think would have made that connection NOR would the Boys themselves. It was just so weird that Star kept referring to them as the Lost Boys as well. Like, who came up with it and started to call them that? Also, was giving a name to your friend group an actual thing back then? That has not been my experience and I don’t think I know of any contemporary media that does this. I know in Mean Girl’s there was a derogatory name for Regina George’s friend group, The Plastics. Grease had the T-Birds and Pink Ladies, but again these are vintage examples. It feels like a product of its time, but I physically cringed whenever the “gang” name was brought up.

I’m not a big fan of First-Person Direct Address POV. I found it off putting and odd.

Continuity Issues:

Dwayne is described as awkward and of Mexican descent. The movie definitely conveys more of an aloof, broody character IMO. All of The Boys are supposed to be cool, mischievous, and carefree. The actor Billy Wirth is of European and Indigenous ancestry. So, either the writer was working off old information where Dwayne’s character was possibly played by someone else and called for a different characterization, or it’s ignorance.

Michael fought more with Dwayne rather than Sam killing the vampire basically all on his own.

There are noticeable but very slight changes in dialogue.

I’m not as offended by these small changes/discrepancies because a) they don’t change the tone or narrative b) the book (August 1987) came out a MONTH after the movie (July 1987). The writer was definitely working off of a script/didn’t get to see the final product before it aired. I also give grace to the fact that it was 1987, there were no computers or quick ways to send people data to read/review/base their novel on.

I think the writer was working with very little and did a good job of being true to the spirit of the movie and at least gave some deeper insight into the world of The Lost Boys.

I would love a prequel novel where we get to know The Boys better. We find out that Star had been a runaway and only a half-vampire for a couple weeks. Why was she chosen to become part of the nest? Why did they try to turn Laddie, a child of 11? How long have they been in Santa Carla and do they expect to move around eventually for more novel hunting grounds/simply to avoid suspicion and hunters?

How did the Frog Brothers get into vampire hunting?

There are some comics for The Lost Boys but it doesn’t appear to be continuous with the movie/book at all.

Thoughts on TBHK Chapter 124

Despite my issues with season 2 i still absolutely LOVE tbhk and with the release of a new chapter, y'all already know i had to cover it, so from look's of the cover card it looks like we might be actually getting some insights on the clock keepers and what exactly their role is on the new timeline as well as what they could've changed in the past, and maybe even some answers on who or what exactly this CAT really is. Well only 1 way to find out, so Without further ado, let's get into it

Lately aidairo's been drawing yashiro with most absolute crazy and WILD expressions, and i effing love it ^^ i guess it's true what people say, the cold can make you LOOK and do crazy things, also i love how adorable it was that she thought the cat would be warm and therfore stuffed her face in it's fluffy fur 😫 ah my heart!

Ok 2 things, (1) Yay crazy yashiro is gone lol and (2) why does this scenery kinda remind of Santa's workshop in a way like im getting MAJOR cabiny/ ghibli vibes from this, I mean I've heard a theory somewhere saying that kako could possibly be santa and judging from all the stuff and hints we've gotten about him in the past and now, like with mira being revealed to being kinda like a toy, to the clock keepers boundary being covered in snow and looking somewhat Christmasy, to even him having a whole ahh white beard as well as being the oldest out of all the wonders, tbh I can kinda see it, however he kinda reminds me of more of a wizard like gandalf or Dumbledore in the end

Ok I've seen a lot of people theorize that the cat could possibly be one of the yugi twins and tbh i kinda agree with that, but not like in a way where they literally are the cat, more or like its part of their essence because i mean we already have the yugi twins in the new timeline, so there's not really any solid evidence that the cat could be one of the twins other than the cat kinda having the personality of hanako and the eyes of tsukasa, either that it could be that the cat is probably a fused version of the yugi twins essence explaing why hes has both of their personalities, so him saying this is REALLY interesting 🤔

These ladies are female protagonists in their respective franchises. All of them have different body types that contrast from the default thin, petite body type that we're used to seeing. And all of them are BEAUTIFUL! 💖

Three of these ladies became love interests that ended up in healthy relationships with partners who love them for who they are. Also, four of them are women of color. (idk if Fiona counts. While she is green, she started off white so... 50/50? 🤷🏾‍♀️) That part is especially relevant to this post because Twitter got me EFFED UP. I'M ON ONE, ON TWO, ON THREE TODAY!

So the concept art of Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil was revealed by James A. Castillo, an artist who worked on the movie.

And people are DRAGGING HIM LEFT AND RIGHT! Being disrespectful to both him and April's design. I can tell you right now not even a third of those quotes aren't positive! There is a vast difference between criticism and insults:

💛"I do not like this design. Besides the color yellow and her red/ginger hair, she simply doesn't read as April O'Neil." That's criticism. This expresses disproval of the design without any vulgarities.

💔"Rethink your entire career. "Artist" my ass! This shit is garbage! She looks like she sleeps in a van and smokes so much weed she reeks of it. You failed." That's disrespect. And I don't think I need to tell you why.

Normally, I tend not to discuss such sensitive topics on my blog (religion, politics, discrimination of ANY kind, etc.) for my sanity and out of respect for others with opposing views. But today, I will make an exception.

I would love to include Luisa, who alongside April was mocked and disrespected heavily for her appearance, but I wanted to speak on this matter from the perspective of a plus-sized African American woman. Luisa comes from an completely different background whose culture and standards I am not entirely familiar with. I can't speak on what I don't know. Respectfully.💜

In the black community, women are faced with colorism, texturism, constant comparison, and body image negativity on a daily basis. And a good amount of it comes from our own community! Our shade, our 4C hair, our weight, our attractiveness, our lifestyle! It's brutal out here!😭😭😭

However, in terms of media a plus-sized black girl is seen as ghetto, loud, and undesirable with a side of attitude. The best example I can think of is Dijonay from The Proud Family.

This is the show I grew up on! The theme song, the characters, the Suga Mama, ICONIC! I love Dijonay to pieces, but as I grew up I realize that she was, in some aspects, a negative portrayal. She was always chasing instead of being "the chase". She was a horrible friend to Penny. And she sucumbed to a lot of negative stereotypes with barely any redeeming qualities. And this was very disheartening considering that she was the darkest one in the group. And the heaviest. And as a little chubby wubby in the 2000s with THIS as my representation? I have to give the writers a bit of the side eye. Was she any better in The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder? To that I would say.... meh. I love her in the reboot, but they could do so much more with her in my opinion. I still haven't seen them address the issue of colorism. 👀

While she is not a human, Gloria is voiced by a black woman (Jada Pinkett Smith) and imitates the sass of a black woman so... yeah. She's included. Gloria was persued by two men. One was the suave, flexing hippo Motto Motto. And the other was her friend/neighbor from her childhood Melman. She chose the latter for good reason of course. Now in Madagascar, Gloria wasn't mocked or criticized for her weight. In fact, hippos are known for their weight. However, she was seemingly fetishized for it. By Motto Motto to be exact. And being fetishized is NOT better than being ridiculed.

Unlike Dijonay, April was the chase, a love interest for Leonardo. I admit, I was SHOCKED that she was gonna be persued. Let alone that the writers wanted to try another Turtle/April pairing considering how April and Donnie went...😬. Now her backlash was on a completely different level. One that I wasn't even prepared for....

While Gloria and Dijonay are original characters, Mutant Mayhem's April O'Neil is a different interpretation of the character that has existed since the 80's. The same can be said for the Turtles, Splinter, literally everybody else! Every show and movie for that matter! And with every story, she changes. Design, motivation, relationships/dynamics, even race as of lately. All of it changes. And change isn't bad. In my opinion, it keeps things fresh and interesting instead of spoon feeding us the same story and concepts over and over again. Change challenges us. Change motivates us. However, some people don't like change nor want to accept it and adjust. And that's life. That's just the way it is. But change is necessary in order to progress.

She wasn't bad in the movie AT ALL. I absolutely adored her! And the dynamic between her and Leo wasn't akward or uncomfortable at all. It was handled really well. Ayo Ediberi did an incredible job bringing her to life! (GOD, I loved her in The Bear! Shameless plug lol)

That being said, I understand some of the sensitivity that fans have when a character changes so drastically you can barely recongnize them anymore beyond the bare minimun. (See also Sonic Boom's Knuckles) But the blatant discrimination, rude comments, and the boldness, THE AUDACITY, that some of these nasty Twitter fingers with their dirty fingernails have to type such disrespect to the artist that I can't repeat up here was wild af. Like, I can't believe we have to share a planet with some of them! Uggh!😷(But that's Twitter 24/7 so what's new?) Her and Rise April don't deserve the hate they get. You don't have to like them. Art is subjective. But to insult and harrass the artists and the people who look like the characters, then mask it under the umbrella of "tHaTs mY oPiNiOn" is 🐱. I said what I said. And I will say that shit again.

Also, just because she's black doesn't mean we can't have another white April O'Neil ever again. We know goodness well they could make another iteration of TMNT and make her white if they wanted to. Heck, I encourage them to explore other races and cultures too! New York is full of them! And it's not like all the other versions of April up and vanished. You can watch them anytime on Hulu, Netflix, Paramount Plus, etc.

One more point I'd like to make is that I am an African American woman who is currently on a weight loss journey. As a plus-sized girl, I had incredibly low self-esteem and picked up toxic, unhealthy eating habits from starving myself to overeating BECAUSE I starved myself. Also, I have experienced both sides from being disrespected and made fun of to being complimented and persued. I was at my biggest weight 2 years ago and I have made incredible progress to lose weight since then. People can lose weight. It is achievable! I went to school with some people who were way bigger than me that lost the weight by senior year! Just because she's big in this movie doesn't mean she can't lose weight by the sequel. Like I've said before, it's not wrong to encourage health and fitness!💪🏾 In life, they call this a glow up. A "remember how you treated them in high school" type of comeback. People can, and are allowed to, change. And it's not wrong to embrace your body and the skin you're in. It's all relative!💖

This post isn't to convince you to change your mind. And it won't make the bullies go away. I can't change the world overnight, nor am I trying to. At the end of the day, you're the consumer. It's your choice. Your prefrence. I can't tell you how to think.

I just wanted to spread a bit of awareness that plus sized people exist. And they will always exist. Everyone is deserving of representation in media in all facets. No matter their shape, size, shade, or sexuality. There are so many people from different walks of life who deserve to be seen and on screen. And the amount of visibility for black girls this year alone is amazing! And I want the same for other women of color, too!

Don't let this trash ass society and the people in it who prefer AI/robots over human beings, fake over real, and bad over good tell you otherwise. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YES I AM TALKING TO YOU. YOU ARE AMAZING! YOU DESERVE ALL THE GOOD THINGS IN LIFE AND MORE. YOUR STORY CAN CHANGE LIVES. BEING A GOOD, HARD WORKING PERSON DOES PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN! The issue is, Hell, doesn't feel like Hell. It's just second Earth with funny colored people that have deformities (horns) and have a bit more hairs on them (Hellhounds). Sinners don't really suffer - unless they sign a contract to an Overlord - then they just straight up chilling.

Heaven is depicted as this big hypocritical mess that doesn't even know its OWN LAWS.

You know there are good ways in criticising Heaven and the Big Allfather upstairs while still keeping the core of things.

That's why Horror movies about Hell (some) that depict them in their own unique way work because they keep the core of things the same.

Hell is supposed to be punishment, eternal torment for the sins they commited while alive.

The last Hellraiser movie did it well - bit the one with almost incest but the other one.

Love how she chewed him out for being hard at being bullied tooonzjakznxx this whole thing STARTED coz gojo got hard 😭😭😂😂 (am I a JOKE to you!?) I mean... I would have taken it as a compliment lmao. But reader is sooo.... Zesty.

This is SUCH an og concept. READER IS SO PISSED DO YOU NOT GET IT SATORU!? she's livid and you're here getting possessive over your BULLY!!? She called it 'hate mail' 😭😭 and Suguru KNEW what's upjskskxjxjnxnc hahahahha 😂😂😂 three people with three very different ideas of what's going on. And only Suguru had the full story akakskzkjx coz reader doesn't know who left it there.

Suguru who's playing matchmaker, I'm sure he doesn't even know what awaits him coz I feel that once he's been kissed? Ohhh gojo's imagination is having a PARTY!! and Suguru will have to listen to EVERY EXPLICIT DETAIL OF HIS SEXUAL FANTASIES that are about to get even MORE effed up *evil laughter* 😈😭😂😈😭😂 his suffering is so sweet to me. To us, i believe I speak for all your readers haahahaha

i got this ask AGES ago and am just now getting to it sfgkshgfdg but WHAT A THROWBACK! i'm really glad you enjoyed it so much, this was one of the asks that kept me on a roll when i was writing it. gosh bully!reader is so fun to write.

it was SO FUN to write all of that banter like. hehehe. reader is outright MEAN sometimes but gojo is either too smitten, too funny, or too dubious for us to take it seriously, or if he isn't, the reader starts to kinda feel bad... this is kinda our hint that reader is not a genuinely cruel person, and also doesn't genuinely dislike gojo, either.

and the HATE MAIL akshdkfgldshg that was so spur of the moment but also soooo fun! i was reading it like "reader would not like the sound of that" lol then i came up with the idea of reader interacting with it, and then all the rest kinda followed suit.

they're just. such a comedic iconic duo. the grumpy tsundere who does actually care deep down and masks it under a million layers of meanness, and satoru who is so unspeakably smitten with you (AND your meanness) that he's following along like a lovesick puppy huhuhue.

it's so obvious to everyone else who pays attention, too (which means just suguru lol). like gojo instantly snaps at anyone who tries to "help" him or even tell you off, and no matter how much you claim to hate gojo or be annoyed by him, you always give him your attention. you even spend all this time studying with him (just using him to get better grades, of course).

and SUGURU'S REACTIONS,,, i am just as bad as gojo because those are some of the most fun parts to write XD i think you can tell with the later fics too. gojo and geto's back and forth is just hilarious, i love it so much.

I wish people would understand that the reason something is '' bad* '' isn't because it didn't do what you wanted but because it was badly done in what it was TRYING TO do. I'm so fed up with the absolution of hypotheticals and I say this as a person who regularly writes rewrite-stuff for fun.

I'm so effing done with people saying Frozen ''was ACTUALLY going to be a good movie, once" based on oold concept art alone where Elsa was more villainous and the characters had better designs. Yes I too prefer that look for the characters over the final film but the thing is- you don't know what that movie was like!! That movie you're talking about doesn't exist. That version of Frozen isn't Frozen; it's an entirely different movie which is why the writers made the change they did with Elsa's character. If you don't like it that's cool ((*Peter Griffin 'ah she said it!'*)). But, you wanting to "fix" the movie by insisting it go back to it's original concepts, the ones you haven't actually experienced but simply like more in theory...at that point write an original story instead of trying to rewrite anything. Watch the Soyuzmultfilm Snow Queen and talk about something other than how awful Frozen is. This here is a Wendys' and there's far more legit reasons to hate Frozen other than " D> WAAaaah! They didn't make the woobie-queen the way I WANT HER TO BE!!", so do us a favor and shut up about how concept art-Frozen was the "superior" film simply cuz you hate Frozen. No it was not. It may have been a better looking film but it wasn't better just cuz it's not the thing you hate.

Look, let me put it another way...

Disney's Wish is bad. I would really like to see some genuine receipts on if any of it's production was actually AI-generated or not(((this 'it has to be because JUST LOOK/LISTEN TO IT' is a badfaith badtake; that's how we got to the point of saying Lion King literally traced Kimba the White Lion. Stop it. Show some receipts or shut up))), but it's actual problem is it's a rushed and incredibly hollow wanky-production. The entire vibe of the movie is celebratory of Disney as a brand rather than Disney as an artform. The characters are awful and the songs are terrible sns.

In relation to the beforementioned Frozen-concepts, yes I also would have preferred something about a hopeful girl and a starboy and also a legit equally evil king and queen who are villains in love. I can't for certain say that would have been a 'good' movie because that movie, again, doesn't exist. ((cope)) The final concepts that make up Wish: evil King who doesn't see himself as the bad guy being told off by his actually good wife +talking goat that looks like a baby but is really an adult +cutsey sentient kawaii star; ALL these concepts could have worked and have been fun! I was ready to eat up these concepts. The reason I didn't is the same reason everyone else hates actually hates the movie for -I think final movie is bad and unlikable and shallow in the worst way possible. No, you're not changing that take. Please don't argue with me. Wish is an annoying and kind of hateful movie to everyone who didn't work on and so has some attachment to it ((it's really for their sake that I ask we not claim Wish is ai; don't do underpaid+starstruck writers dirty by claiming they mustn't exist. AI didn't snuff out the reality of hired writers being rushed and forced to make something that doesn't work-work)). In the words of Bojack Horseman, "It [Disney's Wish] had all the right pieces, but it just… It couldn't put them together."

THAT'S what's wrong with Wish. Heck maybe that's what's wrong with Frozen or Moana or Zootopia for you, person reading who hates those movies. I'm not you.

Love or hate a thing for what it ultimately actually is. If you have a "fickle"-love/hate thing going on for a thing; like with me and Princess and the Frog or anything by VivziePop; redesign your soul away. ((it's complicated gurl, I've been there)). BUT if you actively resent something the way I do Illumination films or Wish, do the world a favor and hold it responsible for what it did as a final movie vs what it could have done as a concept. The fact that it isn't the concept you wanted isn't the problem with it.

To wrap up this discussion on exclusively Disney properties-as-examples; what's actually wrong with Chicken Little is a bad case of Poochie-syndrome. Chicken Little was a mangled, sad production of an already odd premise fueled by spite and hating the very thing it was trying to do. If you look at the writing for what was going to be it's direct-to-DVD sequel you can see how these characters could have worked...the movie itself was a catastrophe because of everything added onto it rather then what was taken away.

That's the kind of thing I eat up!

What are your favorite things about the ship? - THE NAMES. Seriously, Violet Spider with a sexy purple whip, and hand that could crush your golden core, two seriously dangerous people that one-on-one you would NEVER want to mess with!!! *Sighs* yeah, definitely sexy.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - Are there any *popular* opionions about them? /s When I think about it, I guess it would be that they would be no better for each other than YZY and JFM, that there is a reason their history is history, having much to do with the sects they ended up in, and they were never a "meant to be", just a "could have been, maybe, had the world been different".

What made you ship it? - Because there is a history between them we know so little about, two women who were so close they pledged their firstborn children into an arranged marriage (and you know Madame Jin would have had to fight JGS tooth and nail to arrange it, because logically JGS would have wanted to choose the most politically/economically advantageous option, and while the Jiang had some political clout at that time, I'm sure JGS would have preferred an alliance with someone like the Wen). And because I think they'd be sexy together :D

What are your favorite things about the ship? - To a certain degree, the ship is a blank slate because we know so little about Madame Jin (including her effing name), but what we do know is that both of them are strong, opinionated women who can be vicious in their own ways, particularly when they believe they're protecting their children, even if they don't always show it in healthy ways (this is fiction, who cares about healthy ways lol). And again, the actresses in CQL are gorgeous and remind me I'm bi over and over again.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship? - That, personally, I find them more interesting and engaging than any other femslash pairing in the fandom? Because I can enjoy various groupings of Mianmian, Wen Qing, and Jiang Yanli, but to me they just don't have that tooth, that bite that the older ladies do. But that's just a personal opinion - I'm very ship and let ship so enjoy your ships :D

Why don't you ship it? - I'm trying to put my finger on it. Because I HAVE read a handful of fics, and I can appreciate the stories and the writing, and it's a perfectly fine ship! How can I not appreciate a love for NHS and LXC. I guess it just comes down to me not feeling it. They don't reach into my chest and grab my heart and scream at me that their story needs to be told in every variation possible.

What would have made you like it? - I dunno, really. As I said, I've read a few fics and tried, so I'm not sure what would shift it over from neutral to ship. I can see the potential, it's definitely there, I just kind of... *shrugs*

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it? - The biggest one is the shippers - a lot of the people I started following on Tumblr when I first got into the CQL/MDZS fandom were XiSang shippers, and they're all such awesome people that I will defend the ship on their behalf at the first sign of attack ;) And the characters are both ones I enjoy (NHS more so, he's my MAJOR BLORBO), and I can at least see the potential in the ship! It's one of those things where all the ingredients are there and correct, but it's just not the cake I want to eat.

ive been wondering? how do you handle/change modes when you’re writing across AUs/fics? i mean not only the personality/attribute changes (like role reversal with ef and gwyn) but also change in…oh how do i say this..when a character is a MC in one but side/minor in another? bc they are different devices to different stories, how do you keep an overview of how much you reveal, go into so as to not side track from the main story or change the “flow”. example: whenever theres mentions of gender identity and betas somethin somethin feeling like omegas somethin somethin comes up “casually” sirens go off in my head and then i realise wait faber is NOT the MC in this story this is not about him him but its a little bit about him him. and then i feel like im standing behind a glass wall looking from Utb/Utg to Utr screaming at faber but he is a NPC here so we dont know whats going on in his head. that scene with ef and him eating carrots?…. i would give my right foot and skin tone copic markers to be a fly on the wall in fabers POV (the timelines probably wont align for it to happen but would you ever consider sth like this?? a scene overlapp across stories i mean?)

i’ve mostly read within that universe but ive also read spoils where your characters have completely different..positions? roles? weight? than in rainbow. so yeah how do you keep it all “appropriate” or “fitting” for their roles in different stories. like a puppet master

So this is going to be not very helpful, but I don't write this stuff down for the most part.

This is the stuff I find so easy that this is why this is my job, in a way. I don't have a list of 'different Efnisiens' to keep track of, or 'different Gwyns.' They become themselves within the story. If I read a chapter of the story I get back into it (actually often I just need to listen to a song or put on the right playlist). Every version of a character is kind of there right now. I know how each would respond to something, and how those things would be the same or vary based on life experiences and the question etc.

I don't do really much at all to change modes. I just...do. There is no overview. It's all in my head. I'd say some of this goes down to how long / how many years I've spent studying character and dialogue overall. But even when I was younger I found this pretty easy, and transplanting characters into different situations to see how they'd react similarly / differently was one of my favourite kinds of exercises even when I was a teenager.

Some of it is knowing focus. Faber's side story is interesting, for those who like Faber and/or Underline the Red, hints about his gender struggles are fascinating, but they can only ever be hints, because I'm mindful that many readers aren't interested in Faber except as a minor character, and haven't read Underline the Red.

The focus is always Efnisien and Gary. Other characters can have their own lives and motivations, but it won't be more than that in the main story. Though I can go into a bit more detail because of the length of the story which is really nice for building out side characters / ensemble cast.

As to crossover perspectives, I don't know! I know we'll see some of Faber's perspective of Efnisien arriving at Hillview in Underline the Red, but obviously things impact characters differently at different times, I don't know what will be most important by the time we get to Faber's side of things. I used to write alternative perspectives as side chapters for Fae Tales though, and that could be a lot of fun.

so yeah how do you keep it all “appropriate” or “fitting” for their roles in different stories.

I saw a video by Hank Green I think once where he said the reason sportspeople are so good at their sports is in part because they're physically often the best at that sport anyway. Like, ballerinas have a certain build, swimmers have a certain build, and any training they do works to support that and make them better, but they were 'built' out for those sports in the first place. Some people have yoga bodies. I have a swimming body and swimming shoulders.

And I feel like this is true sometimes with writing. I don't try to keep it appropriate or fitting, I just know that the ensemble characters can't matter as much as the main characters in the course of the story. That's what a story is. That's what a main character and an ensemble character is. I would say years of experience has made this part of writing mostly easy and fun for me, so I don't have to think or overthink about this stuff anymore. At worst I might think 'was that too much Faber? Eh, it's helping Efnisien, it's still important to the plot and his character arc.'

I'm 'built' for writing big worlds with big ensemble casts where all the characters are important but where the focus is only on a couple of main characters per story. I'm built for character-focused stories and seem to be very built for transplanting characters I love into different worlds (and different roles) to see how that changes things. I started wanting to write these kinds of worlds and characters when I was 10 years old, and had my first sprawling ensemble fantasy series started by the age of 11. By the age of 15 I had a 3 novel fantasy trilogy built out with about 20 significant characters, and it was ridiculous and silly but that was what I wanted to write.

And I guess you could say I haven't really changed, I've just gotten better at it. I hope to keep getting better at it! The challenge now is to figure out how to break down some of these skills so I can share them with others. But...I do think there's an element of 'this is just what I love, it's a special interest, I don't know how to convey that I have 30 years of special interest in reading, writing, and studying this thing across television, manga, manhwa, fanfiction, AUs, and fictional series.' There will be teachable skills in that, but I don't know how much osmosis / absorption / and being obsessed with entangled tapestries of stories makes up what I do.

In some ways it would be 'better' if I was built for more conventional storytelling. My bank account might like that more! BUT, I'm doing okay where I'm at, because I love it, and I try to share that with other people and see if I can tell stories that resonate with them too.

(There are aspects of what I do that are very hard for me - timelines, aspects of worldbuilding, pacing in the first arc, and so on, but the actual characterisation part, and creating multiple versions of the same character is as easy as breathing. I could give you four more different versions of Faber in an hour. Maybe even twenty minutes. It's not hyperbole, it's just...how I daydream, what I think about. And it's fun!)

I'm very very very lucky that other folks are willing to read the same characters across different narratives, because it's a very strange thing to do in writing outside of fanfiction, case in point being that we almost never see any other professional authors doing it with their original works. x.x

Facets of YJ: Rebirth's Gemworld

It occurs to me that if I ever want to write more post-YJ Rebirth stuff (as I’ve been meaning to do for the past couple years), I need to work out for myself what Amethyst’s canon with YJ is. It isn’t consistent in-universe, but I’m kind a cool with that. I would rather have multiple interesting yet somewhat contradictory canons than a hard-set bad canon.

But for my own story, I need to be somewhat decisive. And to recall what I’m working with… I need to re-read Young Justice Rebirth.

So here are some thoughts from taking a crack at Volume 1: Gemworld.

I know a lot of people in my feed were complaining about this title as it was running, but tbh, I’m kinda impressed by it. There’s a lot of world-building going on and some good emotional moments too. Could there be more? Sure. But the book is fun and doesn’t detest its own audience which is more than I can say for YJ: Dark Crisis.

I’m aware it’s not a popular opinion, though. Lots of people were very aghast at a lot of creative choices.

Gemworld Tidbit #1. Kon's time in the Gemworld. I think one big thing that ticked ppl of was that Kon had acquired a “wife” and “kid” while on Gemworld, but I thought the story line was by turns hilarious (for his teammates reactions) and sweet. The actual explanation that he was just pretending to be her husband to keep her safe from Opal’s guards was cute.

(And tbh, if it turned out that there was some unexplored UST between him and Lophi, heck. I’d be down to explore it. If DC is moving away from Kon/Cassie as a ship, then why not give this a whirl?)

(We see you giving Kon that sexy-intense-gaze-through-limply-hanging-bangs, Patrick Gleason. We appreciate.)

It also gives us one more member of YJ who’s now familiar with Gemworld, and from a very different perspective. Kon knows what it's like to live as a commoner in the bad part of town on Gemworld. Yet, he knows Amethyst by her reputation, and respects her for it. I like this tidbit.

Incorporate into personal fic canon? Yeah, probably.

I also love that the fricken… blend of his shirt is the thing that outs him to Carnelian.

For those of us who remember Carnelian from OG Amethyst, he really is that materialistic and obsessed with the technology of Earth. This whole panel is so freaking in-character, I cackled.

Gemworld Tidbit #2: The Gemworld is divided into “lighter houses” and “darker houses.” The darker houses are officially under Dark Opal, but the Lighter houses are supposed to be free and less oppressive, though Amy’s toung-lashing fights with the council of fellow “lighter houses” implies it ain’t that cut n’ dry.

I can see how it’s useful for conveying info quickly… but eh. The OG showed that while it boiled down to Opal vs. Everyone else, most houses were bullied into serving him and some were just more resistant than others.

Incorporate into personal fic canon? Probably nah.

I’m not really clear why Dark Opal sent a posse of minions to Metropolis to just… go fight Superman. Even after a re-read, I’m still hazy on that bit. Maybe Superman had a lil’ dimension hopping adventure off-panel and effed up some of Opal’s evil schemes? And Dark Opal just… collected kryponite hoping supes would show up again to receive his vengeance? But then he got impatient so he launched a FULL SCALE INVASION OF METROPOLIS? Okay. Yeah. He would. Mystery solved. Next.

Gemworld Tidbit Major Chonk of Info #3. Amy’s relationship with the Houses. So, in OG Amethyst, most the the houses genuinely WANT Amy to defeat Dark Opal. Her parents were major figureheads—and they died fighting him so bravely—but the rest of them have been beaten down into subservience. So Amy’s arrival heralds a renewed attempt at overthrowing the Big Bad, and they welcome her for it.

But in YJ Rebirth, they are so cowed by Opal’s influence, that the majority actually resent Amy for making waves.

She is also NOT the default leader. Like at all. Only head of her house, and even then, the council is debating banishing her from “The Gem” aka Gemworld once she’s out of the room. And at the end… they backstab her by actually doing so. Unannounced.

Incorporate into personal fic canon? I think I gotta. I like the OG dynamic better, but this is pretty darn plot relevant. Need to at least consider it.

Gemworld Tidbit #4. Ride-or-Die Turquoise and Backstabbing Emerald.

So OG Turquoise was v loyal indeed. It was a *bit* more complicated than "besties" in the 80's series, but it works as dynamic for them here.

As for Emerald... We only see ONE ruler of House Emerald here. OG had a Lady Mother and 3 princesses, all with very different narratives. The youngest sister was Amy's *actual* bestie. The next oldest was her friend. The eldest died before Amy could ever meet her, and the mom... went bonkers, died, resurrected, and became part of Amy's rogues gallery, going by the name of Fire Jade.

I'm thinking this is her. Bonus complications if Amy and her youngest daughter are *still* ultra-close friends.

Incorporate into personal fic canon? Yes.

(And tacking on so many details that aren't actually there.)

Gemworld Tidbit #5. Topaz is Dark Opal's minion.

So one of the invaders of Metropolis calls himself "Topaz" right before Tim kicks his ass.

The original Topaz? A lovable and bodacious prince that was always doing his best. And his best included opposing his sister, the elder heir to Topaz keep and the *actual* supporter of Dark Opal.

Incorporate into personal fic canon? Not as-is. Maybe make him tragically mind-whammied or something. But the real Prince Topas is loyal to House Amethyst, even if he's figured out that actually dating Amy is a terrible idea.

And that brings us to...

Gemworld Tidbit #6. No mention of Age-fluctuation. Anywhere.

OG Amethyst would have Amy shift from young teen to young adult, and even have that be a major plot point a la SHAZAM.

I get why it's gone. It removes a lot of writing headaches. But it does mean I would need to figure out some of her relationships from scratch.

Did she and Topaz still flirt? Did they break up for similar reasons? (I imply this is the case in Nurturing Camaraderie. That he mistook her for older/thought their age gap wasn't a big deal, and then ducked out when he realized he was wrong, very similar to what originally happened.)

Incorporate into personal fic canon? Yes. But Imma gonna overthink it to death.

Is Turquoise older than her? How much older? Is Emmy younger than her still? How much younger. What about Carnelian?

Gemworld Tidbit #7. sCiEnce NOT magic.

martlet's stupid molten rock puzzles sucked bad (the physics for that second one were actually abysmal and i spent way longer there than i shouldve) but the rest of them have been fine. i kinda liked the minecart ones. puzzles aren't really why we're here though, obviously, so its not like, a super big point against the game that one of them sucked. LOL

snowdin was notttttttt my favorite segment of the game. mostly for the rock puzzles and also the backtracking for the fetch quest was kind of annoying.. i know that its optional but like, im the kinda person who wants to try and see everything i can so obviously im gonna go for that!!!!! plus i got a real good item out of it... On a lighter note i think its funny how pretty they made snowdin because it leaves the impression that its only gotten uglier in the past few years . like what did you guys do in there

the mail thing is fun. i really like the mail. nothing else to say i just love funny little extra dialogue

the rhythm fight was fun! it took me a good handful of attempts but i felt like i got a little better at it every time which always feels good when it comes to hard boss fights.

ok that stupid evil starlo attack where he both shoots at you and rings the bell got me really bad but eventually i got good at the rest of the fight just enough that i had enough Above Max health to just bruteforce it. i love being good at video games btw

and like on that note ok listen i get the appeal of starlo now i love him super fun character but anytime he said literally anything me and bestie would just point at him and say Grown ass man and that only got funnier when he started losing it and trying to kill this random little baby because he thinks its their fault his friends are mad at him. Grown ass man

i think flowey being Sorta your ally and also the chief saving mechanic because you're not a particularly determined guy is really neat, i was wondering going in how they'd deal with that since flowey says outright in real undertale that Frisk is the first time that ever happened. kinda just waiting for him to stab me in the back tho i know its gonna happen that boy is too effed up and fake and sick in the head for it not to happen ess em ayche

i know some people think Ceroba's design is a little too out of place, and like, maybe a little, but if im honest i think its more the sprite than the design itself? i think its just like, a tad too ornate for undertale. i think if she had less pretty shading and maybe her bow was a little sloppier people would complain less. which is kind of a funny thing to say. man i love undertale. either way it doesnt really bother me, its a fangame let em have fun

Chapter 9 Part 2: Ne cede malis

They drove mostly in silence, with Ghost swerving left and right to avoid a fallen tree here, a bigger rock there, and correcting their path when she indicated a change of direction.

‘‘It was on purpose’’ Riot muttered, her eyes on their surroundings but not really seeing anything, lost in thought. Ghost looked at her briefly from the corner of his eye. She still had the balaclava pulled down to her neck.

‘‘What was on purpose?’’

‘‘Sending us to that building. We weren’t exactly Rico’s favourites’’ She continued, more for herself than for him. ‘‘God knows we didn’t see eye to eye in anything. I was sceptic when he sent us there, I should have trusted my gut’’

‘‘He gave you orders, what could you have done?’’ Soap’s voice came out of the comm, surprising them both.

‘‘Why are you on the feed, Soap?’’

‘‘Everyone else is either resting, checking things or arguing. I volunteered to keep an eye and an ear on my bestest friends in the whole world’’ The Scotman’s voice was as cheery as ever, they could almost imagine his big grin, and against her will, Riot smiled.

‘‘What would we do without you, Johnny…’’

‘‘Don’t tell him that, his head is big enough as it is’’

‘‘That hurts my feelings, Lt!’’

‘‘Cry me a river, MacTavish’’ Ghost smirked under his mask, listening to Soap’s curses in Scottish. ‘‘But he’s right, Riot. You were given orders’’

‘‘I could have entered alone’’ She answered, looking at the trees again. Her left hand rose slowly until it started rubbing the scar. Maybe that was why it was so red and raw, from her rubbing it when riddled with anxiety. Maybe that was also why she used the mask, to avoid rubbing at it in public. ‘‘There was something wrong in that op, and I knew from the start. I should…’’

‘‘Haud yer wheesht!’’ Soap huffed. ‘‘Shut up with that! Not your effing fault! It was theirs!’’

‘‘Listen to him’’ Ghost said, low, his eyes still on the path they were taking and trying to keep the jeep steady enough in the rough terrain of the forest. Riot sighed, lowering her eyes to her lap, where she was holding both the tablet and her helmet, which still had traces of blood on the shell.

‘‘They dropped a missile on us as if we were nothing. Erased us from existence’’ She snorted sadly. ‘‘They filed us as MIA right away, Laswell had to dig to overturn my file and declare me as still alive. Late to recover my shit though’’

‘‘What do you mean?’’

‘‘Rico had our lockers and rooms cleared out the following day, for what Laswell told me. Sent trinkets to my squad’s families and sold the rest or whatever’’ She sighed, deeply, her eyes glaring at the blood on her helmet. ‘‘My motorbike needed fixing and was at the garage, that’s why I still have it, that and the things I had stored in a Big Yellow storage unit. What was in my room and locker is gone. Clothes, books, CDs, my guitar…’’

Ghost said nothing at that. He had read her file instigated by Price, because as a Lieutenant, it was his duty to know about his soldiers, and thus he knew that Riot’s parents were dead, she had no siblings or other relatives, and had listed no next of kin to notify in case of her demise. She was to be cremated if her body could be retrieved, and her ashes given to the sea.

If she died, it would be as if she had never existed.

‘‘Fooking bastards, the lot of them’’ Soap sighed in the comm. ‘‘Mum told ya to put her down as your next of kin, Chris. Yer family’’

‘‘I like your mother too much to make her suffer twice, Johnny’’

‘‘Yeah, well, she’d say… oh, Cap’s here’’ There was a moment of silence until Price started speaking. ‘‘How long until you get to exfil?’’

‘‘About fifty minutes at this speed, sir’’ Riot informed after checking the tablet.

‘‘Heli is on the way already, Gaz is coordinating with the pilot’’ Price’s voice sounded tired. ‘‘How are you two holding up?’’

‘‘Fine’’ Ghost grunted, swerving around a bigger pile of rocks and a fallen tree, following Riot’s hand signals when she corrected their path using the tablet’s route. ‘‘No need for stims yet’’

‘‘I’d kill for a coffee’’ She sighed, and looked at Ghost, rising an eyebrow. ‘‘Is coffee still on once we arrive?’’

Ghost nodded with a low hmph, but she saw the corner of his eye narrowing, and she hoped that was the shadow of a smile.

‘‘What about you, Vega?’’

‘‘Well, apart from learning that I now lose my marbles when hearing an explosion, and that I was knowingly left to die under a demolished building… I’m fine, given the circumstances’’

‘‘Time to visit Dr. Green again and work it in therapy, kid’’

‘‘Don’t worry, I had an appointment with your wife in a couple of days anyway’’

Silence from the comm. Ghost chuckled under his mask, shaking his head.

‘‘Ok, who let it slip’’ Price grunted. It wasn’t exactly the best kept secret in base that he was married to the psychologist, but practically no one below his rank knew, apart from Ghost, Soap and Gaz.

‘‘She did, sir’’ Riot said in a perfectly innocent tone. ‘‘Dr. Heather told me once about her husband’s ‘magnificent muttonchops’, and who else in base has such splendid, glorious, fine muttonchops other than our dearest Captain?’’

‘‘Wha… WHAT’’ Price stammered, dumbfounded. There was also the sound of wheezing coming from the comm, no doubt from Soap losing his shit. Even Ghost was trying not to snort.

‘‘He’s fucking red as a tomato!’’

‘‘MacTavish, I swear to God…!’’

Riot giggled, with the same low, almost innocent giggle from the hill, looking at Ghost briefly with a bubbly, sweet smile that curved her lips sincerely and made her whole face and eyes lit up. He almost swerved into a tree, but managed to keep his hands firm on the steering wheel, looking at her from the corner of his eyes.

‘‘Get to fucking exfil asap’’

‘‘Roger’’ Ghost huffed, trying to hide a low chuckle at the flustered tone on Price’s voice. He could imagine Soap’s giggling, flustering the Captain even more.

‘‘Was it something I said?’’ Riot giggled again, trying to keep her innocent tone.

‘‘You’re a fucking menace’’ He muttered, hoping his fond tone would be muffled enough by the mask.

‘‘And you like it’’ She smiled sweetly, humming while checking the tablet, the comfortable silence falling over them again as they continued to the exfil point.

When they got there, the helicopter hadn’t arrived yet and they couldn’t even hear it. Ghost parked the jeep close to the river bank, and both got off the vehicle and recovered their backpacks.

‘‘We have to strap this fucker in and push it in the river’’ Riot grunted, pulling from Floyd’s arms and trying to drag him to the driver’s seat. Ghost allowed her to manhandle the corpse as she pleased, focused on checking their surroundings and waiting until she had the dead officer more or less secured into the seat.

Between both of them they managed to push the vehicle into the river, where it sank fairly quick, leaving only bubbles behind that slowly faded into nothing.

‘‘Base, we’re at exfil, chopper is no-show’’ Ghost grunted into the comm.

‘‘The bird is on the way, stand by’’ Gaz’s voice informed. ‘‘Price is ordering the plane to be ready, he wants us to leave as soon as you get here. Get off the chopper and board the plane’’

‘‘Copy’’

‘‘Ugh, into the plane without changing or having a shower… how nice’’ Riot sighed, rubbing again at her scar.

‘‘We can do that when we arrive’’ Ghost rolled his shoulders and then his neck, just as tired as she was. ‘‘Before or after that coffee’’

‘‘Coffee’’ She sighed dreamily, her fingers still rubbing and massaging the mangled flesh, and he just couldn’t stop himself before his hand grabbed hers to force it to stop. She looked up at him, surprised, but he just shrugged and released her hand.

‘‘Stop rubbing it’’

‘‘Why? It will get worse?’’ She snorted, looking away. ‘‘It already is. It won’t get better. It’s fucking hideous. I’m…’’

‘‘Don’t’’

Riot turned her eyes to him again, shocked at his tone, and even more shocked when she saw him yank off his glove and then cup her cheek with his hand, covering the scar with his warm, almost burning palm. His thumb gently brushed her chin, forcing her to tilt her head up so his eyes were directly on hers.

She parted her lips to say something, her hand going up to circle his wrist with her fingers and feel his pulse, and it that moment they heard the sound of the helicopter approaching from the other side of the river, appearing on the horizon over the woods.

Ghost released her face, and grabbed his backpack to move out of the way, pulling his glove on again. After a second, she did the same, remembering her balaclava and putting it back in place, covering her mouth and nose.

‘‘Hi, Stork’’ Riot whispered when the helicopter was close enough to distinguish its colours, and both waited for it to be low enough to duck and run towards it. Ghost threw his backpack inside and got in, pulling from her hand to help her. When both where secured in their seats the chopper started to soar again.

‘‘Welcome back, babies, how was the trip?’’

‘‘It went fine’’ Riot said plainly, leaning her head with relief against the wall and closing her eyes. ‘‘Did you have any problems going back and getting here?’’

‘‘Nothing to report, sweetie. There’s water and some energy bars if you two are hungry. I’ve been told to inform you that when we land in Latvia you have to board the plane right away’’

‘‘Thank you’’ She sighed and started rummaging in the box to grab a bottle of water, offering another to Ghost. He nodded and lifted his balaclava over his nose to drink a long swig.

They made their way back in silence, chewing half-heartedly on an energy bar, their knees brushing whenever one of them moved to adjust in their seat.

Ghost could still feel the softness of her skin in his palm. He found himself opening and closing his hand, his eyes darting to her smaller form from time to time, thankful for the mask and the grease and the penumbra in the helicopter cargo cabin. Maybe she wouldn’t notice. Maybe he wanted her to notice. He wasn’t even sure of what he was fucking doing anymore.

Her. Fucking hell, he wanted her. She made him want things. She made him want, and he wasn’t sure how to deal with it yet. Her soft skin in his hand, he could have sworn there had been a tiny touch of pink on her cheekbones. And her eyes. Damned if he knew what was behind those blue eyes to make him crave it so much. He wondered what would have happened if the chopper had arrived later. Would he have kissed her? Leant in to capture those rosy lips with his and stop her from continuing degrading herself needlessly. Would she have kissed him back or would she have pushed him away?

Riot could still feel the warmth of his palm on her cheek, soothing the neverending dull ache of her scar. She found herself thinking about it over and over again, her eyes darting to his massive frame from time to time, thankful for the penumbra in the cargo cabin. Maybe he wouldn’t notice her glancing at him and looking away like a lovesick teenager. Maybe she was hoping he would. She wasn’t even sure of what she was hoping for anymore.

Him. She just wanted him. He made her think she wasn’t broken, or damaged goods. He had heard her say out loud she had been used, and he still had touched her afterwards. He made her want him, he made her feel safe, and she didn’t know how to deal with those feelings. She had asked him to not stop, and he had complied, even after seeing her face, after hearing what she had gone through, after seeing her murder a man in cold blood.

She felt the heat in her face, remembering his body behind her, his arm around her, his voice in her ear encouraging her while they both strangled Floyd to death. How sick was she that the mere thought made her thighs quiver and her heart skip a beat. The things she’d do to hear his voice. The things she’d do to see his eyes on her. The things she’d do for him, and to him.

If only the damned helicopter had arrived later.

‘‘ETA Ten minutes, babies’’

‘‘Copy’’ Ghost grunted, rolling his neck and sitting up in his seat, which was definitely too small for him.

‘‘Gracias’’ Riot muttered tiredly, rubbing her eyes.

‘‘Sleepy?’’ He muttered back, his voice rumbling low, just as tired as her now that the adrenalin and the tension of the mission was wearing off.

‘‘Yeah… I won’t be able to sleep on the plane though… Can’t sleep on things that move’’

‘‘If you’re tired enough, you will’’ Ghost shook his head, the hint of a chuckle in the air. ‘‘You just have to fall asleep before Soap’’

‘‘Tough mission, that one’’ She laughed, her shoulders shaking lightly.

The UN base was already on sight. It didn’t took long until the helicopter landed and they could get off to see the plane in which they had arrived the previous day in the neighbouring runway. Price, Gaz and Soap were waiting for them on the tarmac, right by the boarding stairs. Before going to them, Riot turned and patted the helicopter’s open door.

‘‘Thank you, Stork’’ She whispered, patting the metal one last time before grabbing her backpack and walking towards the plane. Ghost fell back for a second, grabbing his and making sure nothing was left in the cabin, and then, softly, hit the door with his fist twice before following her.

The first one to greet them was Gaz, who patted both their shoulders with a smile before continuing on towards the helicopter to speak with Rojas.

When they both tiredly dragged themselves closer Soap was already there, arms open wide and his signature grin on his lips, sincerely happy to see their friends back. Everyone should have someone like Johnny, Riot thought, right before dropping her backpack, lowering her balaclava and melting into her friend’s arms, who closed around her, holding her tight.

‘‘Johnny, can’t breathe’’ She laughed, burying her face against his neck and clinging to him. In response, Soap tightened his embrace, swaying a bit while humming loudly, making her laugh louder. Ghost patted his shoulder fondly when he got to them.

‘‘I have space for one more, Lt!’’ Soap extended one arm towards him, his grin widening. Riot giggled seeing Ghost step back.

‘‘No way in hell, MacTavish’’

‘‘Awww, you’re no fun’’ Soap exhaled a full on belly-laugh, lifting Riot from the ground and twirling with her. ‘‘At least one of my friends loves me’’

‘‘Set me down, you bloody moron!’’ Despite her words, she kept laughing.

‘‘Get in the plane, muppet’’ Price was smiling indulgently, arms crossed. ‘‘I want to speak with these two catastrophes before we leave. That’ll give Gaz enough time to do whatever the fuck he’s doing’’

Ghost looked back at the chopper, next to which Gaz and Rojas were chatting lively, and then looked back again at Price, waiting. Soap released Riot from his grip and went up the boarding stairs carrying both their backpacks, and she moved to stand beside Ghost in front of the Captain.

‘‘To say Kate is not happy would be an understatement’’ Price sighed, eyeing them both up and down. ‘‘I couldn’t care less about that sleazy bastard, but I hope the voice recorder and the phone you got from him will have enough worthy intel to make up for it’’

‘‘We also have the tablet, his wallet, his tags, and a full set of cards and different IDs he seemed to have used’’ Riot said, back to the soft, calm tone she usually had. ‘‘It’s all in my backpack, sir’’

‘‘Hmph’’Price nodded, and then, finally, patted their arms briefly. ‘‘Good job. Now board. Go freshen up in the toilet or something to make yourselves comfortable, I bet you’re fucking sore and eager to get all that off’’

Riot nodded and started going up the stairs, but Price stopped Ghost before he could follow her.

‘‘I want your honest opinion’’ The Captain muttered, and when the other man nodded, continued speaking. ‘‘About her. In the field’’

‘‘She’s good’’ Ghost said, looking up at her until she disappeared inside the plane, and then down at Price. ‘‘Damned good, actually. Stealthy, ruthless, resolute and relentless’’

‘‘So she is a good fit for Task Force 141’’ Price nodded, looking satisfied with Ghost’s answer. ‘‘Good to know, I like her’’

Ghost said nothing at that. Of the whole team, Price was who he trusted the most with his thoughts, the only one who knew him fully, who knew him before. And still… he couldn’t. Not yet. Tilting his head at Price, he started his way up the stairs to board the plane.

Price stared at him until the massive frame of his Lieutenant disappared inside, and then checked his mobile phone to send a text to his wife, warning her that they were going back home. After a moment, he sent a second one.

You were right we need a bigger dinner table, sweetheart. We have another kid.

It took Gaz another ten minutes before Price just hollered at him to hurry the fuck up, and by then, both Riot and Ghost had gone to the plane toilets to freshen themselves and get rid of their bulkiest gear.

Riot walked to the back of the plane as she had done on the way to Latvia, sighing when she saw Soap already lying down half asleep. When she got to the line with seats facing each other Ghost was already sitting there on the window seat, his legs stretched out in front of him on the opposite seat. He had got rid of the full skull mask to keep the simple black balaclava, a clean one it seemed, and he looked almost… peaceful, with his eyes closed.

She thought he was sleeping, and turned around to leave when a strong hand gripped her belt and loop of her cargo pants and pulled her back, making her fall ungracefully on the seat next to Ghost’s.

‘‘Sleep’’ He grunted, dragging her closer and wrapping an arm around her. Riot blinked, dumbfounded. This surely wasn’t happening.

‘‘Gh-… Simon…’’ She started, but changed her mind and decided to go along with it. She wiggled her way into the seat, moving around until she found the most comfortable position, with her back against his side, her legs stretched out and resting on the seat on the other side of the aisle, and her head resting on his shoulder and biceps while his arm was wrapped around her, keeping her in place against him.

Ghost waited patiently for her to settle, tutting from time to time when she was restless and decided to change positions, but when she finally stopped, his grip tightened around her.

‘‘Go to sleep, Johnny’s not snoring yet’’ He mumbled, trying to relax in the seat too small for him.

‘‘You’re not disgusted by today?’’ She whispered suddenly, and he sighed, turning his head until he rested it on hers, feeling the scent of her soft hair even through the balaclava.

‘‘One day, lovie, when we’re ready, I’ll tell you a story’’ He whispered back, and she could swear she could feel the rumble in his chest against her back, shaking her to her very core.

‘‘What if one of us is ready and the other isn’t?’’ She whispered softly, snuggling into him and feeling comforted by the weight of his arm around her. For a moment, she wished he had chosen the other side of the aisle. That way maybe she’d be able to listen to his heartbeat.

‘‘Then we wait for the other’’ He muttered, half asleep by then, lulled by the sound of her breathing and the scent of her hair.

‘‘Deal…’’ She hummed, brushing her cheek against his shoulder when she nodded right before drifting off into sleep.

I wonder if you guys believe in and are heavy on law of three. Either way it is in effect here. It's definitely coming back something like three times the damage they've done. So you l can imagine how rough that's gonna be for this person. If they try to fight it it's gonna get worse. This person got themselves in some sort of trap.they might have or will embarrass themselves in some type of love situation. Then they're gonna have to leave that situation or did , looking like a dumbass.at least to themselves. Nobody else might care, really. Depends on the individual here. Some are going to get ridiculed, others nobody effing cares. Lol. But they feel embarrassed regardless. They care too much about themselves and they have too much pride and ego. Present or future. The only thing this person seems to know is that they're clueless and everything for them sucks. Someone could literally go blind so that's not even funny. But most of you this person just doesn't seem to know anything about anything. So I can see how that would be intimidating or scary to them. Maybe one or two of you a coma or it's a threat right now if they keep up the bullshit and drama. I don't think it has to end up that serious though. This person is being blinding so that 1. They can't stop their lives from going to shit in all the ways they'll get karma, maybe extreme poverty or something ? 2. So that they can't continue doing other things to other people. I heard harassment. This person is awful. I think they're worse than you realize. I think they put up a front or draw out emotions to manipulate people into thinking they're better than just horrible but they're even more horrible for doing that. It's like this person knew or knows that this can only end badly whatever they've been doing. And yet they decided then therefore to just cause as much havok as they can and still be secretive somehow I feel, about it before this inevitable ending took place. If their old this could be death not gonna lie. Or just getting too old to participate. But if their young take it how it fits. If it's some type of character they put on, they knew it wouldn't last forever. This person is already miserable, and their kinda slimy. I think their karma is worse or some of you got this far I sense that some of you this person you're thinking of is not that bad but I think the few of you I'm talking about you kind of already know that. I see this person falling. I think they have to be forced to fall into their own mind , heart and soul and deal with whatever has made them the negative way they are. Yikes.

This person seems to almost get away with things. I just know that's frustrating.either they seem to have a growing and positive future or outcome , or you do and they've tried or are trying to attack that. They could be or have tried to steal something in regards to your future. Or they just tried to knock you down so you'd be guaranteed to lose. I think they are or are going to end up seeing who they're dealing with. You guys almost are coming off to me like statues . In a good way! . Like, unfazed. At least deep down you're unharmed. And standing strong in your power. Like maybe you just move on and your cool but to them it's like they have to face you. This could also be them having to face some power, some thing, situation, or even a fucking entity. This person is power hungry and to have to face something or someone that is clearly more powerful than them is seemingly horrifying , to them . I don't even think you guys perceive yourself or realize anybody else could the way they do or are about to. I'm getting a lot of white . Like all four cards about this are pretty much all white. It's kind of like, how are you untainted ,unfazed, but the reason they are the way they are is because something similar destroyed them right. So they just do that to other people. You're clearly stronger than them because you overcame it and are powerful after doing so, like they were not strong enough to do. It's kind of like this person saw a ghost. For some of you this could be a guide of yours doing this to them if not you, or even then being intimidated by a judge or official of some sort . Something. But they are or will be scared. I'm telling you. This could be multiple maybe you and your guide or your guide and a police officer or you and a judge. I don't know. They may try to or have started to go on with their life after doing the same wicked shit they've done but they seem like eventually , they've been walking in a forest right, and they've continuously tripped on things as a warning. Then I see them eventually falling into a bottomless pit. Sooo . Yikessss

I don't think they helped or are helping as much as they could or did. This could be some heartbreak for you because you might have had a lot of wishful thinking about this person. Maybe you went through hard times and in that they eventually just left or opted out somehow or didn't do enough to help you right and meanwhile you were thinking how good things will be when they get better or something like that. Maybe this person also led you on somehow. Overall you were let down by this person or people right. Whatever ending or something bad that happened to you is going to either effect them or something very similar will happen to them .looks like currently or in the past they've had people they can turn to. Maybe just friends to help them out. They were or are confident they can do no wrong and they can live their lives however they want with no consequences or regard for how they make other people feel. This person might end up with a kid or maybe they have one or someone they know does or will. Or maybe they left you with a kid.i can't even really pick up on this person's consciousness. Like I'm sort of confused. If they are extremely undeveloped or what. Maybe they dont really experience much as in they don't have much of an inner world. I'm thinking about someone going under amnesia. I don't really fully know what's going on here in all honesty but you live and you learn, I guess. Life is a short trip so take it easy, and do take care of yourself. My best guess is that this person actually sold their souls but that's not for every single person here.
