Quick tips for snake ID in the southern US
If it has a diamond shaped head, it’s venomous
If you’re close enough to see the diamond shaped head, you’re too close
#personal#ally’s gardening journal#my lack of fear for snakes may soon be an issue#but that copperhead I found in my yard seemed friendly#I know I can pick it up one day#also this is not comprehensive because there are a few non diamond shaped venomous snakes

Introduction to the Girl-boss by Day Grandma by Night Era
This era is all about embracing your highest self by focusing on career growth, self-improvement, and relying on a supportive community of like-minded women. It’s a time for productivity, success, and expanding knowledge—while nurturing creativity and self-expression. Ideally, this is a time to invest fully in yourself, uplift others, and build a foundation of success, knowledge, and meaningful connections.
Girlboss Mindset:
★This mindset mainly focuses on career, financial, and personal growth.
★Grind in school and/or work: prioritize studying, aim for all As, get the promotion, network with intention, dress for success, and continue honing professional skills
★Engage in self-improvement workshops (solo or group) once or twice a week on topics like public speaking, financial literacy, tackling your weaknesses, learning important skills, etc.
★Intellectual enrichment and skill building: read daily, listen to audiobooks, learn new skills or hobbies (like learning a language or DIY projects)
★Stay active & healthy: set a workout routine and stick to it, learn self-defense, do weekly pilates and core strengthening, start running, and stick to a healthy diet plan with real food
★Be proactive and cautious: get the fazer pepper spray or other protection, run errands (gym, store) during the day, avoid going out alone at night (even in safe areas), and stay aware of your surroundings.
★Civic duty: listen to informative podcasts from neutral/objective sources (NPR on spotify), if possible participate in public forums and town halls, engage with elected representatives, volunteer, and stay informed for every election especially local
Grandma Mindset:
★This mindset primarily focuses on self-expression and self-care through fulfilling activities and a supportive community of like-minded women.
★Get into gardening & live a self-sufficient life— you can start off with a small garden with herbs you use regularly.
★Set aside time each day for self-expression through nurturing old passions or new ones like journaling, poetry, art, crafting, sewing, etc.
★Prioritize self-care through meditation, grounding techniques, self-love practices, etc
★Shift your social energy from clubbing/bars/dating apps to meaningful connections and prioritizing activities that bring out your best self.
✧Instead of paying to party and being around strangers, try hosting/attending house gatherings, book clubs, wine nights, potlucks, etc with women & trusted allies.
✧Embrace alone time, create a regimen, do self care, do things independently, etc
✧Build a supportive community of women where you can connect, express your thoughts, and share experiences. This space allows for open discussions about potentially harmful/sketchy situations or people, helping everyone stay informed and safe.
✧Redefine dating: focus on self-growth and consider celibacy or, at the very least, raise your standards. Take time to get to know anyone new and prioritize safety by meeting in public spaces and avoiding going back to their place if you barely know them. Also trust your intuition.

In Fathoms Below - Ch. 10
Ch. 10 - Mythallars
Characters: Gale, Karlach, Wyll, Lae'zel, Shadowheart, Astarion, Halsin, Minthara, Gortash + other OCs; pairing is Gale x fem!Tav Plot: The island city of Nautera disappeared over 4500 years ago, if it ever existed at all. Now not a single, legitimate record of Nautera exists, save for one. The Nauterran Account. Long thought lost, it has recently been retrieved from the depths of Candlekeep’s archives and placed into the capable hands of one Gale Dekarios. With the Nauterran Account in hand and an eclectic team of Baldurians and other allies mounting an official expedition, Gale journeys to find the ruins of Nautera…but hopes to find so much more. A/N: Gale gets to lecture himself and his friends about mythallars. Don't know what that is? Don't worry, Gale's got you covered. DND rules may have gotten a little wibbly wobbly here so if you're a die-hard DND fan don't look too hard lol
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | BG3 Masterlist | Read on AO3
Gale’s study of the Nauterran Account had reached nearly a fever pitch. Nearly every moment he wasn’t actively walking, fighting, or sleeping, he was pouring over the pages of the Account, trying to understand it. When he wasn’t using the Loross half of the Account to chart their path ahead, he was wrapped up in translating the Seldruin and using that knowledge to try and understand who the Nauterrans were, and what they were capable of.
It had gotten to the point where his focused attention on the older part of the journal was, perhaps, his greatest hindrance to deepening any of the relationships he’d begun with the others. While they rested and joked and gathered around shared fires or pitched their tents near one another, he kept to himself, disappearing into his tent to read and reread what he was able to translate up to that point. He’d started an entirely new journal where he had begun writing down the contents in Common, as far as he could, but this too took up his time as he went back to fix conjugations or edit out mistakes.
There was just so much to try and understand. The journal began with Ioulaum and his apprentices already in Nautera, and the wonders they described there truly seemed like the stuff of legends. Vehicles that flew without the casting of a single spell, aqueducts that connected cities to one another and created and carried fresh water from one to the next, healers capable of restoring a person to perfect health without traditional healing spells. According to the Account, every person in Nautera, the greatest and richest of the cities in the archipelago, had the means to bring clean water directly into their homes, warm their baths, cook their meals, and light their homes at night, all via magical means without a single spell cast.
The source? The fabled mythallars that were housed in elaborate towers at the center of every city. These enormous crystal spheres created a magic all their own that powered every enchanted item in the cities. Rather than cast a spell to warm a bath, the citizens of this lost civilization could simply activate the magical item that heated the bath, and it would draw on the mythallar’s power to do its task. Nautera had been a world of permanently enchanted items, once upon a time.
Their basic needs taken care of, art and study had flourished, according to the author of the Account. The city of Nautera had allegedly boasted an impressive library and was home to many artists, poets, dramatists, and musicians. It was the gem of the archipelago, lavishly beautiful, like a tiered paradise of hanging gardens, sculptures, and mosaics. Other cities housed magical workshops and places of study, where the elven high mages attempted to push the limits of magic to greater and greater heights. With the power of the mythallars as part of their study and experimentation, it must have seemed as though no problem was too great, no question unanswerable, so long as there was time to focus on it.
No wonder Ioulaum had taken such inspiration from the Nauterrans and returned home to Netheril to make mythallars of his own. It was he who raised the first cities of Netheril into the sky and kept them in the air with his mythallars. At least, for about 2700 years, until Karsus came along.
And history had entirely forgotten the Nauterrans’ role in his great invention. Of course it had. Ioulaum would never have admitted to stealing an idea, especially from elves. Better to present it as his own, whole and original.
But where had it all gone wrong? That was the part Gale struggled to understand. The Seldruin half seemed to end on an arbitrary day, only for the Loross to pick up on the next page with vague references to what must have been a cataclysmic event.
It has been over two decades since the once-beautiful islands of the Nauterran people were lost to the waves, the Loross script began. We journey now to see if we can find its remains, to perhaps salvage some of its arcane knowledge, before that, too, is lost to time.
But what was the event that destroyed the islands? An act of a god, another wizard’s folly, or some other event? The author of the account had been so meticulous with his details, why couldn’t he have been bothered to jot down a quick summary of the events that led to the islands’ disappearance?
Gale blew out a frustrated breath as he sat contemplating this problem, once again, for the hundredth time, outside his tent. His plate of fire-roasted mushroom steaks and rice had long since grown cold as it sat, forgotten, just inches away from his knee.
Karlach passed by with her own plate and glanced over at Gale. “Hey, Gale! I was just on my way for seconds, did you want any?”
“Hm? Oh, no, I—” He glanced over to his plate and realized how much time had gotten away with him. “I’m um…full.”
Karlach cast a dubious look at his plate and then at him. Then she sighed and shook her head. “All right, that’s it. Mama K here doesn’t let her friends go hungry. Give me that plate and follow me. You’re eating with us tonight.”
“Really, you don’t have to—”
“I insist,” she said, already bending down to grab his plate. “Come on, up you go. I swear it’s been days since you last finished off your plate and you deserve to have a proper hot meal surrounded by some friends.”
Friends? Gale didn’t know if he’d go quite so far as that, but it was hard to argue with Karlach. He sighed and closed both Account and his journal of notes, tucking them both under his arm as he got to his feet. Karlach gave him a cheery smile and led the way back to the cooking fire, where she promptly tossed his cold food into the flames and handed both of the now-empty plates to the cook on duty.
“Seconds, please,” she said cheerfully.
Then it was back the way they came, passing by Gale’s tent, toward a different fire nearby.
“Grab a seat,” Karlach said, handing him his plate. “There’s plenty of rock to go around.”
Wyll, Astarion, Halsin, and Shadowheart were already sitting or lounging near the fire, and Lae’zel was not far off, sharpening her blade with a small whetstone, each stroke along the edge sending out a shower of sparks. Gale settled down cautiously beside Wyll, who gave him a smile as he approached.
“Good to see you off the job, for once,” Wyll said. “Or as ‘off the job’ someone like you can be,” he amended, glancing at the books under Gale’s arm.
“Gods, Gale, do you ever stop studying that thing?” Shadowheart asked. “What’s in there that’s so interesting anyway?”
“Aside from an entire civilization’s lost history?” Gale asked. He shook his head, setting both books on the rock next to him and taking up his fork instead. “The entire thing is fascinating from start to finish. Fascinating and frustrating. There are so many questions left unanswered, entire mysteries that I have yet to fully unravel and understand. It’s like a puzzle box, in a way. Each little door I manage to crack open gives way to more compartments, more locks, more doors with more secrets and forgotten history buried within. It is…well…”
“Maddening?” Astarion offered. He was lying stretched out on his side, ankles crossed, using a dagger to carefully dig out the dirt from beneath his nails.
Gale smiled slightly. “Yes. Among other things.”
“Relax, Gale,” Karlach said, already halfway through her second plate before Gale had even taken two bites. “Gortash doesn’t pay overtime. Take the nights off and have a bit of fun every now and again.”
Gale thought about telling her that he wasn’t getting paid at all—not that he was aware of, anyway. He wasn’t even sure if Elminster had arranged any kind of reward for completing the expedition or if he just expected Gale to return to Waterdeep and try to get back into living a normal life. But he elected not to mention any of that.
“I know I ought to take a break,” he admitted instead. “But there’s simply something…enchanting about all this lost history. These legends made real. Is it not the lure of the legendary that draws the rest you forward? Are you not excited to see what discoveries might be made at the end of our journey? Surely I can’t be alone in this.”
“Sure, if by ‘discoveries’ you mean a wealth of treasure to make this all worthwhile,” Astarion said, shrugging.
Shadowheart rolled her eyes. “No one said you had to come along.”
“No, but I’m here now, darling, and I’d like to at least benefit somehow.”
“I can see a little of what you mean, Gale,” Wyll said, smiling. “To see legends made real, as you said.”
“But that may not be your only reason for being here,” Gale observed. Wyll shrugged, looking a bit apologetic, but didn’t elaborate. Gale glanced around at the others. “No doubt the rumors of ancient mythallars is what interests most of you. Though I’m sorry to say that the likelihood of us finding one intact is negligible, if not impossible.”
“Don’t let Gortash hear you say that,” Karlach said, pointing with her fork. “Pretty sure that's all he’s interested in finding. Though, to be honest, I’m not even sure what a mytha-whatever does.”
“Mythallar,” Gale said, slowing the word down for Karlach’s benefit. “Think of it like…a giant arcane battery.” At her bemused blink, he chuckled and tried again. “Picture a giant crystal sphere, about as wide around as three or four of the carts here. The mythallar draws upon the Weave and bottles it up inside as raw magic. This raw magic can then be used to power…well anything, really, so long as the object is attuned to the mythallar and stays within a certain distance of it. Like the crystals in the rothé constructs, except instead of replenishing the crystals with magic every few days, the crystals would permanently and perpetually feed off the power of the mythallars to keep the constructs going.”
“Sounds useful.”
Gale accepted the reductive statement with another little smile. “If we’re putting it mildly, yes. But alas, all the mythallars in Toril shattered over a thousand years ago.”
All eyes were on him now, curious and interested. Even Lae’zel had paused her weapon sharpening to listen.
Wyll asked the question they seemed to all be thinking. “What do you mean? What happened?”
Gale smiled somewhat grimly. “Karsus’s Folly.”
He painted the scene as best he could while trying to keep things relatively brief. He told them of Karsus’s ambitions, of Mystryl, the first Mother of Magic, and how the two clashed over control of the Weave. He explained Karsus’s ascent to godhood, how he attempted to steal Mystryl’s power, how all magic in existence seemed to surge, wild and chaotic, in the brief time that Karsus reigned as a god. How Mystryl’s sacrifice ended her own life and obliterated the entire Weave and how, in the resulting void, the mythallars that kept Netheril’s cities aloft failed, and the cities plummeted to the earth below as Karsus turned to stone.
“Wow,” Karlach said softly once his tale was done, looking a little awed. “You’re a really good storyteller, Gale.”
Shadowheart put up a hand. “Hang on, you’re telling me that when all that happened, all magic was just…gone?”
“For a spell,” Gale said, unable to resist a slight smile at his own subtle pun. “Mystryl was quickly reborn as Mystra and the Weave restored under her command. Mystra then banned the use of any spell past a certain level of power after that. She simply won’t allow the Weave to be manipulated to cast them. Unfortunately, the creation of mythallars happens to have been one such powerful spell that we can no longer cast, no matter how powerful the wizard.”
Which meant that even if the Seldruin explained in detail exactly how to create another mythallar, and so far it didn't, it wouldn't matter. Gale would never be able to cast the spell to create it. Not as a mortal wizard, anyway.
“And there’s no way any of the mythallars from Nautera survived?” Wyll asked.
Gale shook his head. “It would be next to impossible. Without the Weave to draw magic from, they would have failed or shattered, as the ones in Netheril did. And that’s assuming they survived whatever catastrophe dragged all the islands below the sea.”
They were all silent a moment, contemplating Gale’s words. He could sense a bit of disappointment in some, though they didn’t seem particularly surprised by the news that there would be no giant crystal to try and take back to the surface.
“My apologies if I ruined anyone’s grand plans,” he said. “I assume that’s what everyone was interested in?”
Karlach shrugged and laid back against the rocky ground, folding her arms behind her head. “Honestly, I just go where I’m told. Big magic rock or no, as long as I get paid, I’m satisfied.”
“I think my father might be a bit disappointed to hear this news,” Wyll said. “But then again, he may not even be that surprised. I’m not sure how much faith he actually had in this expedition turning up any useful items.”
“I’m sure there are plenty of other valuable things you can take back to him,” Shadowheart said, leaning back on one hand.
“You mean like all the jewels and metals we keep passing up on our way down to these sad old ruins?” Astarion asked, frowning.
She shrugged. “That, or perhaps other things. Information. History.” Gale didn't miss the way her eyes trailed to look at the Account on the ground next to him.
“Is that what you intend to bring back to your Sharran cloister, Shadowheart?” Halsin asked softly, speaking up for the first time. For the entire conversation, he had sat quietly nearby, whittling a dead piece of sussur bark into the shape of a small bear. His expression bore no judgment, only quiet curiosity.
She narrowed her eyes briefly at him before feigning indifference. “There are plenty of things down here that are useful for Lady Shar and her followers, but she doesn’t need to rely on some crystal bauble to accomplish her goals. My Lady is powerful enough on her own.”
Halsin merely pursed his lips, returning his attention to the sussur branch and his knife, silently chopping away at the wood. Gale however, filed this information away to ponder later—it seemed as though the Sharrans, as well as Gortash, Ulder Ravengard, the githyanki, and possibly the druids were all deeply interested in whatever Nautera had to offer, either in terms of power or history. Perhaps he ought not to be surprised.
“Well,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck. It had begun to ache, the pain drifting down into his shoulders and upper back, all signs he had sat hunched over his books for far too long. “Sorry to disappoint everyone, I suppose.”
“Is your neck bothering you?” Halsin asked, sheathing his knife at his side and putting his carving next to his pack.
“No more than usual. Typical scholar's pain. The dangers of study and all that.”
Halsin's half-smile suggested a shared understanding of such pains. He got to his feet, rounding the campfire to stand behind Gale, leaning around him so that Gale could see him. “May I touch you? I can give you some relief.”
Karlach wolf-whistled and winked before turning to whisper something to Astarion and Shadowheart, who both laughed and nodded. Gale ignored them all and turned to look up at Halsin. The druid's expression spoke of nothing but an open-handed offer of help. And he was the chief healer for the expedition...
“You're welcome to try anything,” he said.
Halsin chuckled. “Perhaps not anything, but this may help.”
He took Gale's head carefully in his hands and guided him to lean his head slowly back, stretching his neck. Gale tried to relax rather than tense up, despite feeling as though all eyes were on him and Halsin. Then, with a sudden, quick lurch, Gale's neck popped with a loud crack that traveled down his spine. Halsin let go of him and Gale sat up, turning his head this way and that, working out a few more tiny pops and crackles.
“Mystra's mercy, Halsin,” Gale groaned slightly, rubbing at his now-pain-free neck and shoulders. “You are good. Where did you learn a trick like that?”
Halsin smiled and sat down beside him. “My old druid mentor, over one hundred years ago. There was no finer healer in the area, back then. He taught me everything I know.”
“Over one hundred years ago?” Gale sat back and studied Halsin a moment, trying to find signs of age in the elf's face. He knew he was well over a century old, easily, but he couldn't tell how old exactly. “Just how old are you? If you don't mind my asking.”
“Three hundred and fifty years young, if you can believe it,” he said, grinning slightly. “I traveled frequently in my youth, so I've seen more than my share of adventure. Though the last one hundred years, I've remained at the Emerald Grove, not far from Baldur's Gate.”
“And you left to join an expedition like this?” Gale asked, as the others fell into their own conversations with each other. Apparently they already knew most of this information about Halsin. “For what reason? The rumors of the mythallars, or something else? How did you even hear of this expedition?”
“An old friend tipped me off that Gortash was gathering people for an undersea voyage to a lost civilization. I believe she gathered this information through her, ah...network in the city. She let it slip that his real aim was for Nautera and hinted that the journey might be valuable for me.” Halsin's pleasant smile turned somewhat grim. “She and I were allied during a...a dark time, over a century ago. She couldn't make the journey, so she offered to volunteer me instead.”
“I see. And what did she think would be so valuable for you?”
Halsin was quiet for a moment. He looked up at the dark ceiling of the cavern that loomed hundreds of feet above them. “Hmm...I'm not sure what she thought, exactly. But I've already found something I think could be valuable.”
“And what is that?”
“The Seldruin,” he said, lowering his gaze back to Gale. “The old elven language of magic.”
Gale blinked. “You’re interested in Seldruin?”
“I am interested in Elven High Magic. Or…what little of it can be replicated in this age.” He shifted so that he was facing Gale more directly. “In truth, I've been meaning to ask this of you for some time now. Is it possible you can teach the Seldruin to me?”
Gale winced. Of all the conversations he thought he would be having at that moment, this was not one of them. He hated to disappoint anyone, but this was a not-insignificant request that Halsin was asking.
“I can certainly try to teach you to read and perhaps speak the language, but I cannot teach you Elven High Magic, if that is what you're really hoping to learn. That art, I'm afraid, has been lost for centuries, and much of it is...well...let's just say that Mystra has deemed much of it too powerful. You may find that any Elven High Magic ritual you attempt to cast simply won’t work.”
From what Gale knew, after years of study and his own conversations with Mystra, Elven High Magic consisted of rituals that were nearly all above the threshold that Mystra had created after Karsus's Folly. Between Mystra’s current rules on spellcasting and her ongoing relationships with the elven pantheon, Elven High Magic wasn’t just a lost art—it was nigh on impossible to cast. Unless, of course, you were a god, or someone as equally powerful, and neither Gale nor Halsin were either of those things.
Gale tilted his head, curious now. “Can I ask why you’re interested in Elven High Magic?”
Halsin was silent again, clearly weighing his words. But then he sighed. “I see no reason why I should keep it a secret from you, especially if you are to help me. I am hoping that by learning Seldruin, I can at last undo a tragedy that has tormented me for some time now.” He took a deep breath. “There is a curse that plagues a land near my druid grove. It causes nothing but darkness and death in that land—nothing can survive there, not even a torch flame, and anything that dies there is resurrected by foul, necrotic magic. The darkness has yet to spread, and it might even be contained, but…a friend of mine dwells there. If I can do nothing else, I at least hope to save him.”
“A friend?”
“A spirit of the land. He’s been trapped there for over a century. Each day my hope of saving him dwindles, but I must keep trying. I must.”
Realization dawned on Gale instantly. “So that’s why you’re here. To see if the Nauterrans have anything you can use.”
Halsin nodded. “Yes. And even if they do not…perhaps learning a little Seldruin from you will be enough to make some headway or generate a new idea.”
“Even though you cannot cast magic with it?"
“Yes. Despite everything, I would like to learn it. And you are the only one who knows it. So,” he tilted his head, offering Gale a small smile. “Will you teach it to me?”
Gale wasn’t sure how helpful it would be for Halsin to learn Seldruin. He suspected that it would do very little to alter the curse that Halsin was so desperately seeking to end, but Halsin's gaze on him was unwavering and earnest. It was hard to say no to him.
And perhaps it wasn't a bad idea to teach him. At the very least, if he taught Halsin the Seldruin, he’d have a kindred spirit who could help him unravel the mysteries in the Account. Two heads were better than one, after all. The thought made up Gale’s mind immediately.
“Very well," he said. "But you must give me time to figure out how to teach it. We'll need to figure out a baseline, a foundation you can use to build your knowledge of Seldruin. Perhaps in a day or two I will have discovered a way to—”
A sudden shout rang out over the camp, followed by strange, jabbering laughter. All heads turned, all of them on high alert, just in time to see a scaly, one-eyed creature pop its head up over one of the tents, grinning at them with a wide, lipless mouth full of glistening teeth. It focused its large green eye on them, its pupil constricting rapidly, and then with a chittering laugh it disappeared again, rummaging through the tent.
“Ugh,” Karlach groaned, as Gale sighed and casually cast a quick magic missile spell to drive the creature out of the tent and back into the open. “The nothics are back. Will they give it a rest already?”
“On your feet, soldier,” Wyll said, already up and grabbing his rapier. “The faster we clear them out, the faster we can all get some shut-eye.”

The Power of Consistency: Always Moving Forward
Imagine your life as a garden. Some plants grow quickly, others take years to bloom, but the key to a thriving garden isn’t just planting seeds—it’s the consistent care you give them. Watering, weeding, nurturing, day in and day out. The same goes for your goals, your investments, and your growth. Success isn’t built on fleeting bursts of effort but on the relentless pursuit of progress, no matter how slow or challenging the journey may be.
Staying consistent is the secret weapon of the successful. It’s the slow drip that carves canyons, the steady climb that conquers mountains. Whether you’re working on personal growth, building a career, or investing in your financial future, the principle remains the same: consistency is key. In this post, we’ll explore why staying the course is so powerful, how to keep moving forward even when the going gets tough, and why this mindset is essential for anyone committed to achieving long-term success—especially in a world as volatile as ours.
Why Consistency Matters
Consistency is often underestimated in a world that glorifies quick wins and overnight success stories. But let’s be real: those stories are the exception, not the rule. Most success is the result of years—sometimes decades—of consistent effort.
Consider the concept of compounding. In finance, compounding is the process where the value of an investment increases because the earnings on an investment, both capital gains and interest, earn interest as time passes. The same principle applies to your actions and habits. Every small, consistent effort you make is like a deposit into the bank of your future. Over time, these deposits grow, building up momentum and eventually leading to significant results.
But here’s the catch: consistency isn’t about perfection. It’s about persistence. It’s showing up day after day, even when you don’t feel like it, even when progress seems invisible. It’s the difference between someone who sprints and burns out and someone who paces themselves and finishes strong.
Moving Forward—Even When It’s Tough
Let’s face it: staying consistent is hard. Life throws curveballs. Motivation wanes. Setbacks happen. But these challenges aren’t roadblocks; they’re part of the journey. The key is learning how to move forward, no matter what.
Resilience is your greatest ally here. It’s the ability to bounce back, to keep pushing, to adapt when things don’t go as planned. One way to build resilience is to set small, manageable goals. Instead of focusing on the overwhelming mountain ahead, break it down into smaller, more achievable steps. Celebrate each milestone, no matter how small. Each step forward is progress, and progress is what keeps you moving.
Another powerful strategy is tracking your progress. Whether it’s through a journal, an app, or a simple checklist, seeing how far you’ve come can be incredibly motivating. It reminds you that even when you feel stuck, you’re still moving forward.
The Role of Consistency in Bitcoin and Financial Freedom
Let’s talk about Bitcoin. The crypto world is notorious for its volatility. Prices soar one day and plummet the next. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype or panic in the downturns. But those who’ve truly benefited from Bitcoin know one thing: consistency is crucial.
Take Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) as an example. DCA involves investing a fixed amount of money into Bitcoin at regular intervals, regardless of its price. This strategy smooths out the effects of volatility and ensures that you’re not trying to time the market—something even seasoned investors struggle to do. By staying consistent with your investments, you reduce risk and increase your chances of long-term success.
This approach applies to more than just Bitcoin. Whether you’re saving for retirement, building a business, or working on personal growth, consistency is your best bet. It’s about playing the long game, keeping your eyes on the prize, and not getting distracted by short-term noise.
Practical Tips for Staying Consistent
So, how do you stay consistent, especially when life gets in the way? Here are a few tips to keep you on track:
1. Create a Routine: Habits are powerful because they put consistency on autopilot. Create a daily or weekly routine that supports your goals. Whether it’s setting aside time for learning, investing, or personal reflection, a routine helps you stay focused and disciplined.
2. Accountability: Find an accountability partner or join a community of like-minded individuals. When others are counting on you, you’re more likely to stay committed. Accountability turns consistency from a solitary pursuit into a shared journey.
3. Mindset Shift: View setbacks as learning opportunities rather than failures. Each challenge you face is a chance to grow stronger and smarter. By reframing difficulties, you’ll be less likely to give up and more likely to keep moving forward.
Conclusion
Consistency isn’t glamorous. It’s not flashy, and it doesn’t always provide immediate gratification. But it’s the bedrock of success. It’s the slow, steady grind that, over time, leads to extraordinary results. Whether you’re investing in Bitcoin, building a career, or striving for personal growth, staying consistent is the best way to ensure you reach your goals.
So, ask yourself: where can you commit to being more consistent today? Identify that one area, take the first step, and keep moving forward. Remember, it’s not about perfection; it’s about persistence. And with persistence, there’s no limit to what you can achieve.

Isle kid Moodboards revamped part 4;
Blake Bohumil 'Big Murph' Murphy, the 23 year old son of Black Murphy and Ludmilla.
He is a member of the Anti-heroes Club and Harriet's crew.
He is very close to his mom but not very close to his dad who isn't a big fan of children.
He lost his eye while play fighting the Gaston twins when he was younger and has a glass eye that he likes to take out to mess with people.
He is very close to Marya Rasputin since her dad and his mom were allies behind the scenes, and he often translates for her and others when a language barrier pops up (which happens a lot since Russian isn't a very common language on the isle)
He likes cutting hair, playing cards, eating cake, fishing, learning languages, taking care of the little ones, reading, swimming with the sharks, building sandcastles, wrestling, play fighting, singing sea shanties, and learning about geographical differences and locations.
He also likes collecting hooks of any kind.
He is single.
Hayden 'Hadie' Prometheus Olympian, thr 10 year old (as of d3) son of Hades. Younger brother of Mal.
He is a member of the Anti-heroes club and a wannabe detective, musician, hero, and cook who is always imitating those he looks up to. Friend of Chloe Charming, Red Hearts, Danny Darling, Maddox Hatter, Shan Deja, Edith Olympian, and his minons.
He is playful and loves coloring, cooking, playing various instruments, baking, sword fighting, parkour, gymnastics, acrobatics, and playing with animals.
He has a villian streak no one takes seriously later in his teens and has a pet dog named 'Cerberus.'
He later gets together with Danny Darling.
Lefou Deux 'Lee' Leprince, the 20 year old son of LeFou, Paulette, and Stanley Beaumont (dude from the live action movie). He's the older brother of La Foux Doux Beaumont, the younger cousin of the Gaston twins, and the older cousin of Claire Bimbette, Gil LeGume, and Gemma LeGume.
He is apart of Harriet's crew.
He's a hardworking big brother who does his best to help support his family while still being stuck under Gaston's thumb.
He works at Gaston's 'Duels Without Rules—against his will, mind you, because Gaston forces him too after all. But he doesn't complain too much about it.
He gets to steal from the register though, so it's not too bad.
He fights with various gardening tools and a bow and arrow—he's an excellent shot. He's a poet, a toy maker, and an inventor who records everything in his journal.
He loves French food, sailing, farming, reading, and gardening—even though it's difficult to do anything like that on the isle.
He also loves old photos and dancing.
Lee often makes and fixes toys for the children on the isle, and has no problem fixing things for those he loves. He's also the secret Santa Claus of the isle.
He's been in love with Claudine Frollo since first grade and they get together not long after d3.
La Foux Doux Leprince, the 12 year old (as of d3) son of LeFou, Paulette, and Stanley Beaumont (dude from the live action movie). Younger brother of LeFou Deux, the older cousin of Gemma LeGume, and the younger cousin of the Gaston twins, Claire Bimbette, and Gil LeGume. Older brother of Sylvie Leprince.
He works at Gaston's 'Duels Without Rules'— again, without choice mind you. Gaston forces him too. He is a painfully shy, playful, quiet boy who loves French food, playing games, reading, and climbing things.
He is single and not interested at dating at the moment.
Crazy Bonny, the 18 and a half year old(by d3) daughter of Bill Jukes (in my universe).
Sword sharpener and medic of the Lost Revenge/Uma’s crew.
Bestfriend of Desiree.
Student at Serpent Prep and one of the first to join Uma’s pirate crew.
She is described as crazy in patched dungarees and a torn fishnet shirt.
Vicious Desiree, the 17 year old daughter of a witch and Shan Yu (in my universe anyway).
She is the swabbie of the crew, meaning she is the one in charge of mopping the deck.
She is described as tiny and vicious in a a ragged peasant dress.
She is Bonny's bestfriend and one of the first to join Uma’s crew, and she's a member at the witch school.
Firece Gonzo, the 19 year old son of an unknown woman and Joshamee Gibs (in my universe anyway).
He is Jonas' bestfriend and is the boatswain of the crew.
He is also responsible for stocking the pantry and refilling the chum buckets.
He and Jonas are the ones in charge of the food (they don't cook it tho) and supplies, among other things.
He is described to be firece and as having long braids, a red bandana, and blue pantaloons.
He, along with Gil, Harry, Jonas, Desiree, and Bonny, is one of the first to join Uma’s crew and student—or former student—at Serpent Prep.
Ferocious Jonas, the 20 year old son of Morgana Olympian and older cousin of Uma (in my universe).
He is the Quartermaster of Uma’s crew, the fourth in command, and the gunner (the one who mans the canons).
He's described to have a scar on his left cheek, corn rows, and a scarf. Has a thing with Jade in my universe. Has been seen selling scarves before which is probably a side job of his.
He's been described as ferocious. Student/former student at Serpent Prep and one of the first people to join Uma’s crew.

The Animal In You ! Tagged By: A little wildbirdie! Tagging: @bewitchingbaker @skarletchains @gyofukuki @muddsludge @zealctry @kiigan @YEONBAN @distortedkilling @lightfaithed @saiakv @uzumakiuser ...AND YOU ! Sooo, does your result matches well with Senritsus? You Are a Prairie Dog ! Prairie Dog Characteristics: Communicative • Cautious • Meddlesome Scientific Name: Synonyms ludovicianus Collective Term: An association of prairie dogs
Insatiable Curiosity If the words "infectiously mischievous" remind you of anyone, chances are that you have a prairie dog in your life. Petite, attractive and intelligent, this creature's free time is spent in bucolic surroundings, playing socially bonding games with friends and family. But despite its insatiable curiosity, the prairie dog is cautious about venturing into the unknown and the conflict between its homebody tendencies and restless intellect defines its personality.
The Prairie Dog's Social Life Like most insectivorous creatures, prairie dogs are wary of strangers and are anxious to turn them into allies. Even though it leaves an indelible mark on its community, only a handful of people ever claim to truly know a prairie dog. This subtle alienation distresses the gregarious prairie dog who suffers its periodic bouts of loneliness in silence.
As letter writers, prairie dogs are without equal. Typical of the social animals, they are generous and unselfish with their time and find sharing to be a source of pleasure. Their personal lives are well organized and they confidently tackle life's challenges while building a successful career. Prairie dogs derive a great deal of pleasure from nature and return the favor by conscientiously recycling and encouraging their community to do the same. They spend most of their recreational time at play with close friends and avoid competitive sports requiring physical contact. Instead, they prefer group activities that cement social bonding, like card and board games.
A Prairie Dog Needs Balance Prairie dogs love music and dancing. Outdoor concerts are a special treat where they draw energy from the crowd under an open sky. They are also creative and enthusiastic lovers who take pleasure in their partner's pleasure. They are not drawn to any physical type in particular, but seek lovers to whom they can connect on a spiritual level, and it is with small woodland personalities -- cottontails, deer and foxes -- that the prairie dog finds its natural balance.
It is wont to take the art of lovemaking less seriously than one might expect, viewing sex as simply another opportunity to communicate, and this seemingly disinterested approach can disappoint a casual lover who expects something kinkier from this otherwise enthusiastic little creature.
Prairie Dogs in the Wild Prairie dogs inhabit the plains of North America and live in large "cities," measuring up to two hundred miles long and containing 400 million individuals. Such large populations require an exceptional social communication system, and the prairie dogs live in highly organized groups.
Recent research has suggested that prairie dogs have a vocabulary more extensive than any other animal except man. With up to five sounds to name predators, prairie dogs also use adjectives to modify these nouns. An approaching man generates a particular alarm call, while a man with a gun elicits a slightly different vocalization.
Although they live in such vast cities, individuals rarely venture from their individual coteries, which cover about an acre. Since most of the individuals within a coterie are related, their social bonds are very strong. When members of a coterie meet, they exchange ritual kisses: Each nibbles the other, and prolonged mutual grooming begins.

Love & Friendship Prairie dogs are creative and enthusiastic lovers, taking pleasure in their partner's pleasure. They are not drawn to any physical type in particular, but seek lovers to whom they can connect on a spiritual level. So, it is with small woodland personalities -- cottontails, deer, and foxes -- that the prairie dog finds its natural balance.
So you're in love with a prairie dog? Well, here's something you should know. It can be a frustrating long-term love partner with an annoying habit of allowing platonic friends to distract from its primary relationship. You'll have to contend with being just a cog in a large network of friends and old lovers, all of which whom the prairie dog loves as much as it does you.
Because its lover must share its affections, the prairie dog is advised to find a mate who has its own social network, like the gregarious otters, deer and cottontails.

If they kept a journal
{Headcannons}
Because I always want to give characters journals for some reason 😅
Taglist: @vvkingofgaybisciutsvv @thequeenofthewinter @thedevilshardy @mollybegger-blog @wandawiccan60 @cameleonhardyfan63 @liliac-dreamer @potter-solomons
Tommy Conlon/Riordan
Venting. Lots and lots of venting and messy drawings (he's trying to work through trauma, leave him be)
Likes journals that are a little on the small side cause it's easier to carry with him
Writing alone in a coffee shop with his headphones on
"I'll slap you" after Brendan tried to look at what he was writing (aka nosey older sibling syndrome)
Writes after fights to calm himself
Shopping lists, schedule for the week, reminders, things he hears people say in public, his commentary on whatever he's watching/listening to, anything and everything
Self-loathing and cocky confidence all in the same paragraph
Writes backward, in circles, with his non dominant hand, or turns the book upside down to amuse himself
The quietest people have the loudest minds
Spaces out in the middle of a sentence/word, he's trying to think but his thoughts tend to get away from him and are often times uncontrollable
Fidgeting with his pen or whatever he's writing with
Tried to make it neat and tidy once, but it didn't last long
can't stand to write in the presence of people he knows, especially his family, although he knows most of his marine buddies will respect his privacy
Starts every journal with the info on his dog tags (which he refuses to take off 99% of the time)
Eddie Brock
Is a literal journalist!
Rambling in his notes, doodles when bored (same goes for Vemon), daily records, existential crises in great detail
Got Vemon their own journal on the condition that they wouldn't hijack his hand when he was trying to write
Journals via symbiote, Vemon's memory is far better than his "remind me to write that down later,"
Vemon is a literal five-year old with their journal, "Eddie look!"
Sometimes, their minds blend together enough that they write the same thing in unison with each other
It doesn't matter which journal is whose, they're both just as chaotic as the other!
Vemon has chocolate wrappers plastered over most of the pages, and a list of what they call "Eddie things" (it's a list of stuff Eddie likes)
Vemon occasionally calls journals "decorating books"
Vemon definitely loves "wreck this journal"
Happy host (usually!) Means Happy Symbiote
Alfie Solomons
The rambling of a madman, that's what Tommy Shelby called it anyway. Alfie prefers "Fuckin' work of art" but to each his own
It's basically a more personal business ledger. Lists of allies, potential businesses and business partners, people he wants to get rid of. Meeting schedules (courtesy of Ollie), talking points for said meetings, and God only knows what else he comes up with
The only person beside Alfie himself to see the inside of that book is Ollie, under Alfie's supervision of course
Keeps it in a lockbox with a gun
"You want to see the book? What the fuck are you on about mate?!"
Mostly writes in larger print instead of cursive because his eyes ain't what they used to be, and looking at cursive gives him an eye strain headache
Definitely had rum spilled on it multiple times
Won't deny (at least not to Ollie) that he's thought about putting it in front of someone's head and shooting it
"Sometimes I think I should've shot you the first time I came here" a note written in the book by Tommy Shelby, who, in his defense, was left unsupervised
Writing for a moment, standing up to pace around the room, sits back down, repeat
Messy drawings of Cyril
Farrier (and Collins!)
Farrier just simply enjoys writing, it's peaceful
Collins often steals the book, flips to a random blank page, and writes little notes/inside jokes for his friend to find later
Pressed flowers, fountain pens, and cigarette smoke
Often writes on his smoke breaks
A growth chart for all the garden plants and a map of what's planted where
Ends his entries with mood indicators, ie (: or ):
Tallies up dogfights between him and Collins to see who gets playful teasing/bragging rights
Started keeping a journal when he first joined RAF, after a chat with an older pilot who told him stories that he said he wrote down "so the good memories would last longer"
Likes to write in his cockpit, it's one of the places he's most comfortable
"There are old pilots, and there are bold pilots, but there aren't any old bold pilots, mate!"
Cloud/brid watching and writing about what he sees
Collins likes to chat with Farrier as he writes, Farrier enjoys the company
They have definitely had conversations by writing notes and passing the book to each other
Detailed sketches of planes, especially spitfires!
Wondering through the woods and forests and documenting his adventure and exploration
Writes about how he'd like a pet but doesn't think he could stand to be away from it so much
Forrest Bondurant
Fountain pens and scuffed leather bound blank pages drowned in the sent of cigar smoke
Has definitely smacked Howard over the head with it
Poems, philosophy, metaphors, drawings and detailed descriptions of plants and what they can be used for, the different moonshine recipes the brothers use, short stories, bank balance cause he couldn't be bothered to find his legder
Craves his initials into the cover with his pocket knife
Howard calls his journals "a wealth of knowledge"
No matter how tempting, neither Jack nor Howard dare to trifle with their brother's journal
Morning stream of consciousness pages as he drinks his coffee
Sitting at his desk late at night, can't sleep, journaling in his office with a cigar between his lips
Documents the odd (lucid) dreams that he has on occasion, attempting to figure out what they are
Depictions of three wolves, each wolf representing one of the three brothers. Wolves are fiercely protective of their family, just like the brothers
#if they kept a journal#tom hardy#tommy conlon warrior#eddie brock/venom symbiote#alfie solomons peaky blinders#farrier/collins#forrest bondurant lawless#headcannons#hopefully writing out stuff like this will get rid of my writers block#hope you enjoy

Nishidake Household: Chapter 4, Part 4
Charlie's beloved dog Allie my have passed away but she's got lots of family to build her back up. Guardianship had to take a back seat for grief as this chapter concludes.
In this part Keira and Marta come to visit, Clover ages up, and the spice festival actually happens!
Kaori is busy cooking dinner and talking to Marta while geek Keira takes the opportunity to do a little gaming.
Keira: KAORI
Kaori: Did no one ever tell you not to yell at someone working with a knife
Keira: Ship, sorry
Kaori: What is it
Keira: I text her we're staying and she replied with a smiley
When Charlie gets home she manages a small smile for the visitors.
Kaori: I made some pho Char
Charlie: I like pho. Last time we had it... Allie was here
Keira: Did she ever sneak some
Charlie: She tried once and almost burnt her nose
Kaori: She was sneezing for days but the vet said she was fine
Keira: I was thinking tomorrow you two could show us the bamboo forest
Charlie: I have work tomorrow
Kaori: But Keira doesn't get much time off university at the moment
Charlie: I suppose
Marta: My shift finishes at 2. Perhaps we could do it then
Charlie: It is pretty peaceful there
Charlie may not feel up to woohoo but she can always hold her own in a pillow fight! She's victorious but before Kaori can sleep she spots something outside. Clover is rolling in another puddle! Kaori tells Charlie she'll handle it, and goes to give Clover a telling off. Clover is unconcerned.
After some relentless hunting of her own tail, Clover heads to bed. She wakes up nice and early. Jumps out of bed and ta da! She's aged up into an adult. She can now go on walks and start to learn some tricks.
Marta: See you later carino
Keira: Have a good shift
Charlie: How come she gets to go to work
Keira: Because... I don't know. Joey would have an answer but I'm too tired to think of one
Clover: *barks*
Charlie: And don't you look spectacular today
Keira: She's mixed breed right
Charlie: Yep, unique
Charlie: Morning K, did you sleep okay
Kaori: I think so but I'm still pretty down
Charlie: Yeah, me to
Kaori: How about a run with Clover? She looks keen
Charlie: Do you want to go for walkies
Clover: *barks*
Kaori: Sounds like yes to me
Charlie: What'll you do
Kaori: Journal I think, unwind
While Charlie and Clover make tracks in the fresh snow, Kaori embraces her literary hobby and journals. It's good to work through her feelings. When Charlie is back tending the garden someone rings the doorbell.
Charlie: Mum?
Kayleigh: Your dad and I thought we could tag along for this hike
When Marta arrives back the group head down the mountain a bit to Senbanmachi. It's here that they'll be able to start the hike around the old bamboo forest. A light snow covers the area, making the surroundings seem even more magical.
Kaori: Stick together. Main things to remember, phones on silent-
Charlie: And no photos! I've learned that one
Marta: It's not haunted is it
Harvey: You okay Marta
Marta: I had an awful nightmare with a ghost
Keira: You're awake now, promise
Kayleigh: Let's get going
Kaori: Forward team
The group move forward, up the stairs and into the forest. Initially they chatter a little, and Marta freaks out, but as they reach the heart the peace surrounds them. The six fall silent and admire the beauty around them. When Kaori speaks she recounts what her grandparents told her of the forest.
Snow continues to fall softly and a light frost still covers the ground that the sun hasn't touched yet. The tranquility is just what Charlie needs to calm the tides of grief inside her. For just a few hours, she can forget the pain, and simply be.
At home Charlie and Kaori excuse themselves for an hour while Keira sets about making tea. After properly letting go Charlie sits down to do some journalling of her own. Kaori however heads upstairs to work on some travel footage the agency has requested.
Charlie also cooks. She has the cuisine hobby but hasn't felt inspired lately. Some of her plants are also ready to evolve. I haven't seen the crouching evolving animation in ages and I missed it! Clover keeps an eye on Kaori to make sure she finishes her product, but also has time for Charlie hugs.
The next day Charlie still has some work tasks to do so Kaori takes Clover for her morning walk. It's pretty dark and cloudy, Kaori slips over a few times. When Charlie is caught up she takes some time to get the bonsai tree in shape, I have been completely neglecting it, whoops.
Clover gets back filthy so Charlie takes her for a bath. Surprisingly Clover is pretty chill about having baths now, guess she listened to Allie. She's giving Clover a rub down when
*doorbell*
Reece: I'm so sorry about Allie Charlie
Charlie: Yeah, me to
Reece: How are you doing
Charlie: I'm coping
Charlie: Since you're here though, I've been meaning to give you something
Reece: Why
Charlie: Because you're living in some shack with a dude I've never meant
Reece: Berries
Charlie: You can plant them. But sell the dragonfruit rather than eat it, it's good money and festivals are glitchy right now
Reece: Thanks Char
Charlie: When can I meet him
Reece: He's not really a people person
Charlie: Yet clearly he can cope with you
Reece: Excuse me, cope?
Charlie: You know what I mean. If you can interrupt, you do interrupt. You talk so much
Reece: I can't help that my brain goes fast
Charlie: Whatever. Photos for mum?
I've been shuffling around photos and Charlie and Kaori need more for their electronic albums. They grab some with Keira and Marta then it's time for this stay over to conclude.
Charlie: Thanks for coming
Marta: It was good getting to know you better
Keira: Bye sis, look after yourself okay
Charlie: Have you applied for university
Reece: Not yet, I got time, it's not even my birthday yet
Charlie: If you want to renovate your shack you'll need a paying job
Reece: Hey now, don't hate the shack life until you've tried the shack life. I'd be more concerned about all these split levels, I could break my ankle
With all guests gone Charlie and Kaori had the house to themselves again. They played on the console for a bit, joined by Clover.
Clover: *barks excitedly*
Charlie: Down in front
Kaori: She just likes the TV
Charlie: She does seem pretty happy
Clover: *stares in adoration*
Kaori: Silly dog
Final day of the rotation passes fast. Kaori takes Clover on a run while Charlie tends the garden. Later they both head to the gym (yes where the unexpected death occurs) in Willow Creek to practice their rock climbing. Charlie finally reaches level 4! We're officially 2/3 of the way to attempting the mountain climb.
Having reached level 8 charisma Charlie is promoted after her shift to Starter player. To celebrate the ladies head to their favourite festival, which I'm beyond glad is showing up.
Kaori: We've been training, we got this
Charlie: Let's smash it
Kaori: Do those plants look weird to you
Charlie: Yes
While not eating regularly the two don't seem to be breathing fire which is promising. Time ticks on. The plates drop to half full. Charlie clutches her stomach. In the end, both women beat the challenge! Winners shirt selfie anyone? I don't think it'll be warm enough for the mountain unfortunately
Back home Charlie showers Clover with affection, then heads to sleep with her wife. This Nishidake chapter has drawn to a close. Not tons of guardian development but I'm trying to keep my restricted target for once. Plus they're still workshopping ideas of how they can help the mountain.

@springthings / @loetise continued from x.
her journal? willow’s journal? if she weren’t drooping, she might’ve gasped, comically and oversized and so, so genuine. she wasn’t sure if she had a way to describe willow and her writing, she doesn’t think she had the words anywhere inside her, but she imagines that willow does. she’s filled with words, maybe in the way that allie is filled with flowers. but allie doesn’t garden the way willow writes. willow doesn’t tend to her sentences, her desires. sometimes, she wonders if willow’s words tend to her.
she thinks of that book, that book that made allie’s heart turn so severely she felt as if she could never eat again, and at the same time like she had to stay with willow forever or she might just wither away. allie, not willow, would wither. willow was strong enough to write about it, but allie wasn’t and could never be. even the feeling that crept from those pages felt paralytic. clearly, willow wasn’t the one that needed her.
but that kind of sick- that kind of sick isn’t a person, it’s possessing, and it’s scary, but it’s not a person. and it’s not willow’s fault, nor is it true. but even if it was, it wouldn’t be.
she cradles willow in her arms, twining around her and tangling fingers in her hair. “ i know you, i love you, i like you, and i’ll like you for always, i don’t care what she said. you’re- you’re not sick. you- you were just- it- i don’t understand. i don’t understand. what was sick? you were just- it was just- it was just a thing. things happen and you- you got caught up and you couldn’t get out, that’s not sick. ”
"Zero is a monster, Allie. He's a monster and I-- I liked that about him, I-- I let him hurt me, I got... I'm-- I'm not right, Taylor said, 'cause I-- I didn't want to get out..." Willow does her best to explain it to Allie gently, wanting her to understand. Talking it out also helps, the anger that she carries in her is a fire that can only be stoked so much - she wants it to die, now, like the rest of her.
"In a way I-- I feel like she was right, but I... I don't know what to do with it. I can't stop, I don't think... Zero's like... There's more to him than just-- what Taylor read, what everybody thinks, I... I got so close." Willow brushes her hair from her face, huffing, sighing. Her tears have run out. "Taylor read my journal and made it all seem so-- she made me seem crazy... She made me feel like everything I've ever felt is-- is wrong, like nobody could ever understand..."

@madeimpact asked: 🙌 HAND OVER THE KANEKO PARENTS NPC Meme ;
ALRIGHT NEG YOU ASKED FOR IT (affectionate).
I've mentioned them in passing in the past, both ooc and in a few ic posts here and there, so I figure; it's time I officially and formally introduced Kairi's adoptive family... aka... drum roll...
Kenji and Aika.
I'll put their information under a readmore for courtesy's sake, in case I end up rambling too much and it all gets too long ! but here we go !
Kaneko Kenji.
Age: 41. Pronouns: he/him Face claim: Kubota Yuki. Occupation: Mayor of Destiny Islands. Likes: Reading, journaling, scuba diving, walking/exercising. Dislikes: Dishonesty/lying, close-mindedness, cigarettes/the smell of cigarette smoke, sweets. Personality: Hard-working, kind-hearted, ambiverted, pragmatic. Extra: Is allergic to cats. Background: Kenji, with a love for the Islands he called home, throughout his entire youth aspired to one day be mayor and take care of both his home and his fellow Islanders. He later on did just that, becoming mayor at the age of 27. He was the youngest mayor in the history of Destiny Islands, and never anticipated doing anything with his life other than what his job would bring. Then one night, a brief number of months after he took on the position, there was a sudden, unanticipated meteor shower over the Destiny Islands — one that heralded the arrival of a four year old little girl by the name of Kairi, with red hair and indigo-blue eyes. She seemed to be alone, lost, scared, and seemingly amnesiac, and as a result of this the people of Destiny Islands had questions, and no idea what to do with her; they turned to Kenji with their inquiries — Where are her parents? Where did she come from? Why is she here?
Being at an equal loss of what to do and with an equal lack of answers, Kenji was very quickly forced to come to the decision to take Kairi in and raise her on his own. At first, he was uncertain as to how he would do raising a child by himself — he had no experience with kids of any kind of age. He tried his best to balance out his career with Kairi's upbringing and though he did admittedly struggle from time to time — having to, on occasion, put his mayoral affairs first — he still was, overall, a loving and caring enough father in his own way. He has made Kairi smile, laugh, cry, etc., in multiple ways over the years, and has always gone out of his way to ensure she is taken care of and looked after even in the moments when he can't always be around, himself.
When Kairi was only eight, Kenji married a woman named Hayami whose selfishness and dishonesty eventually caused a rift in their marriage. They split after two years, and for five months after the divorce Kenji remained single. Then near the end of those five months he met Aika, another woman who turned out to be a much kinder soul than Hayami had been. They began dating shortly after meeting and a year and a half later got married, when Kairi was twelve.
They've been together ever since.
Kaneko Aika.
Age: 36. Pronouns: she/her Face claim: Ally Maki. Occupation: Waitress. Likes: Gardening, surfing, journaling, dancing, spicy food. Dislikes: Rudeness, arrogance, passive-aggression, hot beverages of any kind, poor hygiene. Personality: Prudent, compassionate, confident, hard-working. Extra: Actually attended the same high school as Kenji. Background:
Being the daughter of a fisherman, and a waitress, like herself, Aika was raised into a both diligent and respectful mindset — learning to always treat others with the golden rule, and work hard at anything she set her mind to. She kept the belief of both these things well throughout her youth and young adulthood, and the former proved to pay off when she eventually won the heart of the mayor of Destiny Islands only a few months after meeting him.
Aika became a part of Kenji and his daughter's lives so very quickly that it surprised her, but pleasantly so, and she has never once faltered in caring for either of the two of them — showing time and time again both patience and compassion whenever it has come to supporting either Kenji in his mayoral career, or Kairi in her own endeavors. She even, at one point, taught Kairi how to plant things, and the two of them have a shared garden of their own behind Kenji's house.
As kind-hearted as she is, Aika has also proven to be fiercely loyal and protective over her newfound family; she has been shown to never take any shit despite her good-natured temperament.
She works four days a week at a small cafe in the center of town, on the main Island.

Tips for your Health
Drink 2L of water a day, if you forget to put your water to fridge or if you don't like the odor of your bottle, put a slice of lemon in it
Speaking of water : do not drink the same brand of water everyday ! This is no good for your organism, you can end with gallstone if you overdrink calcium water. You need to vary !
Try to sleep between 7h and 8h. You can also do power nap during the day (just close your eyes during 10min, 20min max), you will feel refresh !
Sometimes, you need supplements to achieve better mental health, sleeps ou physics. No shame in that ! If you need guidance, ask a doctor or at least a pharmacist (its also work for medication)
Pilates and yoga only need a sport bra and a mat, so you can totally do your excercice in pyjamas straight out of the bed
Speaking of pyjamas, a common tips is to sleep in legging so you can work out first thing in the morning. If you prefer to sleep in something more comfy, you can buy suitracks, sweater and jogging so you have an outfit that is both comfy and that suits for sport
Tea and herbal tea are great for your health but don' forget to drink water aside of it ! In particular for green tea that is a diuretic drink, thats mean you will eliminate everything included water ! Oh, and don't drink them to close to your bedtime, if you have trouble to sleep
But green tea is also a great ally if you have trouble to digest : 20min after any meal, you can drink green tea to help you digest !
Matcha > coffee, why ? Because its will wake up you the same but softly. You don't have to buy the most expensive matcha to have good effect and taste
Try to move everyday : it can be taking out the trash, cleaning your space, walking. The idea is to no spend the all day sitting.
You have to eat three meal a day, this is no negociable BUT you can choose the size of the portions. If you don't like to eat on the morning, you can eat a fruit around 10pm so you're not starving until lunch
Writing your toughts on a journal help with stress : its like a Pensieve, you leave whats in your head so you can enjoy the present. You don't have to constrain to a journal, if don't like to. You can record yourself fe
You need some fresh air but you don't have to go outside for that matter : you can read on your garden or with your window open. You can stargaze on the night. You got the idea
You need to know how to cook basics meal, what i mean by that is meal that can fulfill you with few ingredients. Recipes idea to search (i will consacrate a full article to this subject in the future, i promise) : banana bread, avocado toast, noodle base meal, curry, tofu based meal, three ingredients salads... Pinterest is your friend on this one
And you aslo need to know how to cook from unrefined ingredients (fresh fruits and vegetables, raw meat and fish...) : fresh food is better for your health and you can totally adapt it to your preferences. Even if process food are better than they were yesterday, they stay pricey and you can never control how much fat, sugar and salt there is in it. As a bonus, if you cook with the season, you can save some money without even thinking because it will bea cheaper !
Speaking of fat, sugar and salt : we need them to be healty because our body can't produce some of them (fe omega 3 wich you can find in fish or in certain oils) but there is diffrent types of nutriments and some of them are unhealty. I recommend you to learn of this subject with neutral sources (aka scientific articles but avoid the one with title like "the role of [insert a random nutriment] in weightloss" because you can be sure that it will be a biased article writtes for some shady reason). And if someone try to convince you that fruits have to much sugar in it and you should avoid it, RUN !!!
A good way to stick to your nutriments needs is to vary oil depending on what you cook : for salads use olive oil, making a asian vibes meal ? Use sesam oil, ect..
You can also eat everyday a handful of nuts (almond, walnut...), but just one.
