I actually like this set up, its a natural extension of the OG cartoon, the animated movies, portions of the Live Action films as well as Mystery Inc and Shaggy and Scooby get a clue. Showing a love and a genuine care to detail in how the characters were developed and redefine and fleshed out over the many decades the IP has existed for.
Especially Shaggy's athleticism, salt-of-the-earth common sense and development and broad collection of ecletic and disconnected skills, Fred's capacity for generosity and trap making, Daphne's long laundry list of proficiencies and skills in a host of arenas and Velma's well defined and strong scholastic and forensic investigative abilities and know-how.
I also like the notion that this could very well be a murderous real estate agent after old man McBucket's legendary treasure under his home as it could be a terrifying ghost or even the earth-bound spectre of old man McBucket haunting his old estate.
This dynamic could have the gang encounter a spiritualist who is as knowledgeable on the ghostly/monster side of things as Velma is in science and there could be a cool back and forth between the two. Fight scenes where Daphne gets highlighted because of her skills in multiple martial arts, Fred planning five steps ahead and building traps within traps and accidentally getting the gang as well as the 'monster' caught in his own web of enginuity.
I would watch the crap out of this earnest, from the bottom of a fan's heart adult action-adventure investigation series of some Mid-twenties adults, their faerie Great Dane battle creepy real estate agents, spurned lovers, folk-lorists trying to earn extra cash at tourist traps as well as contend with witches, vampires, ghosts and ghouls and dark mysteries buried deep within the earth.
That sounds like all the best bits of every Mystery Inc. incarnation condensed into an animated series were the studio can show blood and give the bad guys weight and gravitas for their terror and actions.
Thinking about how I would write an adult Scooby-Doo series, because I think it can be done.
The first thing I’d do is make the characters actually be adults.  Still young, but adults, in the mid to late 20s range.  Mystery Inc. is a private detective type business that they run together.  In this universe, the supernatural/ghosts/etc are real, but not necessarily common, so when they take on a case, the culprit might be a person disguised as a monster, or it might actually be a real ghost.  The stakes can be higher; sometimes a bad guy is legitimately trying to kill them.  Sometimes the mystery they’re trying to solve is a murder.  Sometimes they actually get hurt on their cases.
Fred: the core of Fred’s character should be that he’s incredibly kind.  Like, give a stranger the shirt off his back kind.  The “Fred can’t talk to potential clients because he might take a case for free and we need to eat” kind.  He’s an honest and good person and sometimes gets himself into trouble because he assumes other people are too.  While he’s not very good at reading people or noticing ulterior motives, he’s brilliant when it comes to mechanical or engineering type stuff, so he’s the one who keeps the mystery machine running, builds their gadgets, and of course, designs the traps.
Daphne: she comes from old money, and her parents absolutely despise her life choices, to the point where they haven’t officially disowned her, but they have basically cut her off, so she doesn’t actually have access to any family money.  Growing up wealthy has granted her a variety of skills, including speaking multiple languages, horseback riding, and fencing.  She’s very into fashion and jewelry (even if she can’t afford it anymore) and has extensive knowledge of both that can occasionally provide a vital clue in a case. And even though her parents have cut her off, Daphne still has a wide network of contacts she can ask for favors sometimes, because she’s personable, and people tend to like her.  Daphne is also very emotionally intelligent, and is usually the one who can spot when someone is lying to them.
Side note - I ship Fred and Daphne, so I think I would start them off as an established couple for this universe.  Dating, engaged, married, I don’t care.  They are stupidly in love, ride or die for each other.  There’s no will they, won’t they, no worries about cheating.  They are in a healthy, happy, loving relationship, and no one (not even Daphne’s disapproving parents) are going to mess that up for them.
Velma: she is the forensics nerd who sometimes gets super excited about the wrong thing at the wrong time (”He was mummified in seconds? That’s so cool!” “Velma!  His wife is standing right there!” “Oh.  Sorry.”).  She’s not purposely insensitive, she just gets laser focused on her work and forgets to filter herself sometimes.  She’s also the one who can get so fixated on solving whatever mystery they’re working on, she’s willing to bend or maybe break laws.  Is breaking and entering really so bad?  Not if it gets them answers.
Shaggy: he is still the comic relief, but he’s the comic relief by being the only person in the group that actually has common sense.  He manages the business’s finances, he’s the only one who knows how to cook, and the others tease him for being a coward sometimes, but Shaggy maintains that if a ghost with an axe is coming for you, running is the only sensible option.  He should also have a range of random knowledge that sounds useless, but sometimes saves the day (ex ventriloquism, origami, the history of spoons, etc).
Scooby: as this is a universe where supernatural creatures exist, Scooby is an ancient eldritch type being that took a shine to Shaggy when he was a kid, and took the form of a talking dog to befriend and hang out with him.  Aside from the talking dog bit and not aging, he never uses his powers in a way that anyone notices.  The audience is not told upfront that Scooby is an ancient eldritch being; it should slowly be hinted at throughout the series so the audience put it together, but the characters never realize it.  Scooby genuinely considers Shaggy to be his best friend, and cares about the rest of the gang too.

Me and the homies I dragged into playing ISAT with me (voice over style) and thus thoroughly infecting them with the ISAT hyperfixation gathered to play poker and so- drew us VAs as the cast give or take some liberties :P

The Other Constantine and The Vampire King.
Goldie Constantine and That James Dean King Of Vampires Guy. Is it odd of me to do a gag comic sandwich with a tonally horrific comic in between? Probably. But these jokes aren't going to draw themselves are they.

despite this just being a stupid tv show something that is actually baffling and genuinely concerning to me is the rampant anti-intellectualism and serious pushback against thinking critically about what we're consuming. any sort of negative response, criticism, or even expressed desire to see something different is written off as entitlement. wondering at the writers' intentions or wishing they'd gone about something a different way or disagreeing with them or thinking about a story differently from its creators is being hostile and demanding. don't consider subtext or symbolism or themes or really anything other than what's being put right in front of you because that's delusional. the characters are just characters and the writing is just writing and the show is perfect the way it is because the product is what its makers wanted it to be and as the audience you're supposed to just sit and bask in it without having any real opinion other than "yay! love it! thank you!" like can we get real please. what is even going on anymore

do people who have listened to taz balance but not graduation Know that it was HEAVILY IMPLIED that lup and barry eventually adopted a lil sorcerer child who got disowned by his family for his natural necromancy magic, and they taught him how to use his powers for good and were overall great parents that he looks back on fondly
(and said child grew up to be a dimension-hopping lich, caretaker of the dead, and very sweet adoptive father of a major npc)

the chalice of the gods becomes objectively funnier if you head canon that percy and annabeth only stay at New Rome for a single semester before realizing its batshit insane there and running for the hills

damian wayne is an emotionally stunted child, that much is true. irrevocably so, even. and yeah, most of it is due to the leagues influence and training especially in his formative years, but also bruce wayne (or even dick grayson) is not an emotionally-responsible poster child.
in a way, his negative behaviors are reinforced through bruce and dick’s (and possibly alfred’s?) way of parenting him. (lack of deeper conversation, not setting healthy boundaries or expectations, not setting consequences or explaining why his actions were wrong, etc) and yeah he’s an assassin child, he’s not going to be the paradigm of mentally and socially stable, but they way they handle it is a disservice not only to him, but also to those who face the brunt of his actions.
that leads to one tim drake. he was robin when damian was brought into the family so naturally that’s where a large bit of his own insecurity of his place in the family (because he focuses on securing his spot in the family, rather than looking around and realizing he had one as soon as he was introduced to bruce wayne; again tho not his fault) is focused on. it’s a disservice to tim because he keeps getting the shitty end of the deal, while damian faces no real or meaningful consequences. on top of this, he receives no real apologies from either damian or the adults in their lives who are supposed to protect them.
(and yeah they’re teenaged vigilantes, there’s only so much danger the adults can protect them from but a better effort could be made easily.)
not only does this hurt the future social and familial relationships of damian but ALSO tim. it gives tim a reason to feel mistrust in not only his brothers but also the adults in his life. i see a lot of people defending damian (in relation to tim) by saying “he’s a kid, he was trained by the league of assassins, it’s not his fault, he’s just trying to find his place.” and to some extent they’re not wrong, but they’re also neglecting the fact that TIM is also just a kid. not only was he just a kid, but a emotionally (and physically) neglected kid. these behaviors could set him back emotionally as well.
it is important to remember that this isn’t necessarily damian’s fault. his actions? yes. should he take responsibility for them and own up to his mistakes? also yes. but i can also acknowledge that he’s a teenager— a young one at that. mistakes are going to be made, but it’s also the adults’ responsibility in his life to make him understand the weight of his actions and their consequences for others.
granted, these are fictional characters so take everything i say with a grain of salt, this is just stuff i’ve been thinking on when interacting with the fandom (specifically focused on the realm of fannon) anyways sorry for the essay
tldr: damian and tim are somehow both failed by the adults around them, even after leaving one shitty environment for a better one. it’s not their faults entirely, outside factors, especially in the forms of guardians, also play a role.

finding out ur coworker is way older than you thought and having to very quickly reorient how you talk to them
#art#traditional art#watercolour#fanart#synthv#synthesizer v#genbu#kasane teto#rikka is also here :) i think she likes to cause problems sometimes. because all the adults in her life are dweebs#and very easy to cause problems with <3#anyone else have this happen before. im older than a lot of my university peers and i always have been#because i took 5 years in highschool and my undergrad has been like 6 years and counting#(hashtag learning disability <3 ) and like thats chill to me i dont mind#but now i usually assume everyones way younger than me and i get shocked when theyre not. a buddy in some of my classes#when i first met her i absolutely and completely assumed she was like barely 19 and talked to her as such#like i dont talk down to people or anything but i do soften the way i talk a bit and give a bit extra patience with younger peers#cause yknow. i remember what it was like being 19. being 26 is WAY easier lol so i wanna give em a bit of leeway yknow#anyway a few months after meeting her i found out she was actually a year older than me and a grad student when she ended up as a TA in#another class i took. i felt so bad. we bonded tho and she didnt mind she thought it was kinda funny when i was like WAIT UR A GRAD STUDENT#i thought she was like a first or second year undergrad..............#also yeah im a 31yo teto fan. i dont mind the popular fanon that she has a separate age that makes her actually 15 and#i dont mind that more interpretations have her like that BUT for my internal canon she is a grown ass woman because i think its fun <3#she pays taxes. she goes to work parties. she can rent a car. i love it#let teto rent a car. let her rent a car.#yknow im exicted to be 31. i still got a few more years of being a 20 something which is fun. but being a 30 something sounds like it rules

Literally the most insane thing yugioh ever did was make Yuya Sakaki taller than Yusaku. There's this theatre girly with sparkly roller skates and trauma and she can just casually rest her elbow on the shoulder of one of the most wanted criminals in cyberspace.

FORGED BY FIRE D02: Battle Couple
Wanted to participate in @heartsandsparksshipweek 's for this year but I got quite busy these last days of the month :') But I'll try to grab at least two prompts I like the most from the [List].
AND YES, THE DUET OF HOTHEADS 🔥 I have had a desire to do artwork of them since the past year so, even if simple, I'm pouring my whole heart into these fun tiny pics ✨

okay im sorry but Hermie is ABSOLUTELY faking his crushes on Scary and Link. he is a goddamn theater kid which means he needs attention more than anything in the world, and that desire more often than not centers around Normal (ESPECIALLY considering "i like you too," which is about attention regardless of whether or not he was lying). literally hes doing the queer high school equivalent of pulling a girl's pigtails at recess by telling Normal about his "crushes" so that Normal will get upset and pay more attention to him. its the same tactic he used with the mascot costume all over again
