Summary: If it hadn’t been for Wangji’s definite preoccupation with that one particular guest disciple, Xichen might never have noticed the… discrepancies. Kay's comments: Was craving some slightly dark Lan Clan and revisted this story recently. I really loved the angle that something was clearly a little off with Wei Wuxian's education. He's a celestial fox, who should have been seen as a boon by the Jiangs and yet, something was wrong. Not friendly to the Jiangs and the Lans are darker, since they are dragons and give in to their hoarding instincts. Featuring a smitten Wangxian during the Cloud Recesses Study Arc. Also, really fun to have the story from Lan Xichen's POV! Excerpt: He bows to Xichen like they were equals, like they were both heirs to one of the major sects. When Wei Wuxian certainly isn’t. Come to think of it… Xichen tilts his head in thought. Wei Wuxian bows to Xichen just as Jiang Wanyin does, the exact same angle and depth and time holding the bow. Almost like Wei Wuxian might have copied said bow straight off his brother. Almost like he might not have been taught differently and was certainly never corrected in his behavior. It is at that point, after their first few interactions, a few conversations full of bright, genuine laughter and just slightly off manners, that Xichen starts noticing the discrepancies. The discrepancies of someone supposedly raised amongst gentry – alongside an heir to one of the major sects, no less – but who so clearly doesn’t have the expected ease of a firm and steady education, certainly not in regards to sect politics. It is something anyone of the main houses would be expected to know, but which Wei Wuxian simply doesn’t, committing faux-pas after faux-pas, though never grave enough to be confronted about it and also clearly without intent, but rather because he simply doesn’t seem to know better.

Lan Sizhui doesn't remember Wei Wuxian at the Guanyin Temple.

Wei Wuxian becomes Lan Wangji's husband. Then he realizes with horror that Lan Zhan has a son, and he hasn't asked for said son's opinion before shoehorning his way into their family.

Sizhui is a sweet child. Kind and smart, maybe a bit too obedient for his own good. A perfect little Lan.

The last time Wei Wuxian tried parenting, he'd had a 3 year-old boy in his care. He'd left the kid behind to turn himself into red confetti.

Wei Wuxian, unexpectedly, manages to become a quite decent tutor to the Lan disciples. But how to become a father ?

Should he try some family bonding activities ?

Wei Wuxian sets out to get Sizhui warmed up to him.

Going out and talking with the teen is thankfully easy and fun. Sizhui doesn't hold any prejudice against him, and he even makes a point of saying he enjoys Wei Wuxian's company. That in itself is enough to cause his eyes to water.

He learns about Sizhui's childhood. His first friend -Lan Jingyi, of course-, his first days of class, of sword training, of nighthunting.

He smiles at stories of Sizhui growing loved by his father and uncle, and his grand-uncle(!). Being patiently taught how to play the Guqin. Being gently offered the Xiao to try. Being playfully buried under a pile of fuffly rabbits.

He learns about the more mischievous(!!) side of his step-son. His first punishments (after being caught helping Jingyi copy rules, after trying to raise a rabbit in his room, after spicing up his and Jingyi's food once and getting found out because they kept blowing their nose.)

He is subjected to a terrifying kind of love, so strong and so freely given, by a heart so big he's scared it would one day be inevitably hurt.

He sees Sizhui's willingness to share his home, his father's love, because it would make them both so happy.

He keeps learning about how wonderful his newfound son is.

Then, there is also Sizhui's favorite childhood toy : a familiar paper butterfly.

There is Sizhui's former unexplained belief that being planted in the dirt like a radish would make him grow bigger and give him playmates.

There is Sizhui's nose, which reminds him of Lan Zhan's, and another boy's too.

There is the way Sizhui's just blurted out 'Xian-gege', himself confused by this way of address.

Wei Wuxian looks at Sizhui, a-Yuan, and doesn't dare to hope. He wonders.

I am seriously concerned by the danmei-confession anons that seem to think that murder and extreme torture are okay as long as it's done to 'bad people'

Darling, dear, you need to see what a slippery slope of superiority thinking that is. That is in fact the kind of hard lined morality that lead to inprisonment and eventual massacre of the Wen Remnants. Because they were 'bad', they were on the 'wrong side' of the war, part of the invading force of Lotus Pier (Wen Ning said that his people didn't kill people at random, doesn't mean they didn't kill.) But it doesn't matter if they were good or bad, because to murder a bunch of people is still wrong.

The cultivator that accidentially killed Jiang Yanli, only attacked Wei Wuxian because Wei Wuxian had just killed his brother. The brother was killed because he fired the opening shot at Wei Wuxian. The guy and his brother were there, probably because their sect leader told them that they had to defeat a dangerous villain with dark magic, which did appear to be true because Wei Wuxian did invent a whole new type of fierce corpse and killed the heir to of of the big sects. So did they deserve to die?

Y'all need to let go of this storybook idea of good and bad. Morality is so much messier and complex.

And if MXTX really does think that Wei Wuxian is the ideal of goodness, I am allowed to disagree with her. While it is her story, she did put it out in the world, and readers are allowed to form their own thoughts and opinions based on the story she has written.

Summary: Lan Zhan wakes to a pounding on his door in the middle of the night. For a moment, he assumes Wei Ying must’ve come over after all. Instead, it is Jiang Cheng, soaked and covered in mud, and holding a child— A child who looks up sheepishly, with the same light grey eyes as Wei Ying. “I told him we didn’t need to bother you, but he insisted you would want to help.” Jiang Cheng says. or: yet another wwx age regression fic. but modern cultivation au. Kay's comments: Ah, this is so cute and funny! And also the first time I've seen an age-regression story where the de-aged person in question retains their adult mind, which makes it even funnier how immediately Lan Zhan is hit with baby fever and the need to baby-proof the entire house. Excerpt: He almost starts counting the years, but this child looks to be around 2 or 3 years old. Even though he and Wei Ying have been intimate immediately after getting together, they have only tried dual cultivation once. And even if a child might have resulted from such, it’s only been three months… Surely he would’ve noticed such a huge development? His fantasies of having a family with Wei Ying have only ever been in the abstract. Their relationship still feels so new and miraculous at times and he’s loathe to jinx things by being greedier than he already is. Yet now, confronting it in reality — he wants— “Well?” Jiang Cheng snaps, cutting his thoughts from spiraling further. Lan Zhan blinks. “Of course. I would also care for. Any child of Wei Ying’s.” “What? What’re you—” Jiang Cheng sputters. The child breaks into peals of laughter then – and it’s so patently Wei Ying’s that it makes something in him ache. “Lan Zhan, ah Lan Zhan!” The boy lunges forward, and Lan Zhan scrambles to catch him. The boy pats his cheek, and Lan Zhan’s world stills again. “What 'child of mine'—haha! It’s me, Lan Zhan – it’s your Wei Ying!”

Wangxian modern au: high school thoughts

Thinking about Wangxian meeting at the bus stop on the first day of high school. Wei Ying is way too loud for it being that early and Lan Zhan curses his brother for convincing his uncle he needed to experience going on the bus at least once.

When he sees Wei Ying though he has revelations and immediately going home and tells his brother he is gay.

Lan Huan had already told their uncle he was gay months ago and was accepted so he felt safe to do so. He also had googled "what does it mean when you feel like exploding around a person" and the internet told him he had a crush. Then he was silently panicking about it when he had to ride the bus home again with Wei Ying deciding to sit next to him and bother him like he did that morning.

But eventually he learns to not panic as much and push Wei Ying away (WY had gotten his feelings hurt once and that snapped LZ out of it) And he even shares his earbuds with Wei Ying so they can listen to music together.

They probably get matching backpack keychains and Lan Zhan starts making lunch for the two of them. Wei Ying hoards all the very rare notes Lan Zhan sends back to him. Wei Ying also always gets Lan Zhan his fav tea during break and brings it to his classroom.

They could have matching hoodies with each other's face on it !!

I bet they would exchange one sock so they each have one of the others.

They probably share a water bottle since Wei Ying is constantly dehydrated (he forgets to drink water if lan zhan doesn't remind him). Lan Zhan is the one who has to carry it around bc Wei Ying will leave it places on accident 😅
