today i had a conversation with a girl who’d been raised by an incredibly homophobic family.
we’ve been chill for a while, we sit together in class, and she had no idea i was genderfluid (she knew i had changed my name, but never knew the reason) or bi.
the rainbow club got brought up and she made a strange face, seeming confused. “why would they need a club?” she asked. i knew she wasn’t trying to be malicious, i knew her family. they are really homophobic, it’s all she’s ever known, so i wanted to educate.
i explained to her how my experience has been as a queer person at our high school. i have been teased, called a f*ggot near daily in the halls, and esp in middle school i was bullied. the rainbow club at my middle school was my safe space, but i don’t need it as much now (in high school).
she listened, and she was open minded, and she asked questions as i explained my experience and she now has a genuine understanding of why these safe spaces exist for the people who need them
this was the best case scenario, but in most cases being calm and helpful and open minded is the best way to go about these conversations, as opposed to rude and assuming these people are attacking you.
now, if they’re being blatantly homophobic, you don’t have to engage, that’s completely valid. but don’t be part of the problem. be part of the solution 🤍

I don’t know about you guys, but since the end of April I’ve been keeping track of my gender (made one of those Year In Pixels but for gender) and I noticed something odd.
You know that joke everyone in the Alphabet Fandom makes about us being liquid and freezing when it’s cold?
My gender changes less frequently the colder it gets, and the warmer it is, the more frequently it changes
For real! During winter, I had my gender stay the same for 1 and a half weeks, but during summer there were times where I’d start the day with one gender and end with another.
Is anyone else like this?!?

My egg donor was on the phone with Flora earlier this morning, who deadnamed me. Then later that night, when my DNA contributors came home from her house, my sperm donor deadnamed me as well and when I asked him to stop doing that, he wouldn't listen.
Deadnaming people on purpose is the main reason they may kill themselves or cut their families out of their lives forever!

Actually quite tired of seeing people completely erase those who are agender and/or who don’t use pronouns.
Yes the bigot is a dumb fuck for saying they refuse to use pronouns because they’re not a lib or whatever.
But theres other ways to articulate that then being condescending/aggressive about how everyone uses (gendered) pronouns, what, do you want us to just not refer to you?

theres actually no rules to transitioning and youre allowed to want contradictory things for your transition. it's fine if you only want some of the changes that come with hrt and take preventative measures for the rest (like wanting bottom growth but not body hair or vice versa). you can want to have vagina AND a dick. you can be a woman and want top surgery, or wear a packer. you can be a man and want to have a pussy. you can change your transition goals one or a million times or not have any goals at all and just take things as they come or as they feel right.
there are no rules.

hello, my name is equinox, i am severely disabled autistic trans person dealing with schizophrenia, PTSD, arthritis, hypermobile ehlers-danlos syndrome, degenerative disc disease and gastroparesis. i am a wheelchair and cane user. i am recovering and stabilizing after being homeless for 6 months; i just spent 2 full months living in a hotel paying $38/night. i have relocated into my apartment that i was waiting 6 months for due to the subsidized housing program taking forever to calculate my earned income
i just paid $307 for my deposit + prorated rent in order to move in, as well as a $20 electric bill and a $35 bill to get internet set up, which is required for my jewelry business. i also had i also currently need a lot of things in order to make my house livable including a bed and food, and being able to get to the pharmacy for my medications. right now i have no food in my home due to having to spend money on uber XLs to and from my motel and storage unit in order to get the few possessions i have like blankets and personal belongings. i lost a lot of my kitchen supplies when transitioning between staying with friends for a while
i have almost no money on me right now. i will be re-stocking my shop with new items later today, but for now I need help being able to afford my living expenses as well as being able to afford to ship my products out to my customers. thank you to everyone who has helped thus far you have kept me safe for 6 months. you can help me here:

i think honestly the craziest thing abt transmisogyny isn't like the active moments of hate but the complete unwillingness and uninterest in anything we have to say — this assumption that if a trans woman is talking it's not worth your time and you can just scroll past. and then you'll have fuck terfs in your bio like nothing happened! wild

genderfluid but not in a "is it a girl day or boy day today" way but in a "my soul has lived here for too long. the doorframes are chipped and the walls are sun-faded; the wood rots and the nails rust. this house was once home but today it is no longer. will I ever be back? maybe one day. but come tomorrow this place is dead to me." on a random wednesday and then chopping all my hair off way

gender is a largely unnecessary social construct and to not get wacky with it if/when you feel a desire to is, in my eyes, entirely a waste of creative potential
