Do you have any advice for people who don't get along with their siblings?

I didn't always get along with my younger sister. I'm four years older than she is, and I'm ashamed to admit that for a long time I was absolutely awful to her. I carried around a lot of anger and resentment and heaping dose of sibling rivalry.

Now I'm sure that in actuality it wasn't this sudden, but the way that I remember it, one day when I was about 12 or 13 I realized that my life would be so much easier if I didn't spend so much time an energy hating my sister. She is now one of my favorite people, and we're very close.

Every sibling situation is different, so I'm not sure that there's a lot of specific advice that I can give you. What I will say is that negative emotions are extremely energy consuming to maintain. They don't feel good, and they're probably making your life a lot harder than it needs to be. If your sibling isn't being actively awful to you, maybe try letting some of that go. You don't have to be best friends or forgive each other for every single slight. But you don't have to hate each other either.

If my mom sees a significant amount of blood she gets lightheaded, and has fainted on some occasions. Once it happened when we were kids, I wasn't there to witness it but I heard the story from my dad. Basically my brothers, around 7 or 8 at the time, were playing outside while my mom was making their lunch, and she accidentally cut her finger. It wasn't anything serious, but it drew a fair bit of blood and she passed out. My dad saw this and rushed over, but he didn't really know what to do so he just sort of started slapping her to wake her up (not recommended, but he had no idea and panicked)

At that exact moment my brothers both came in from playing, and all they saw was our mom unconscious on the floor and our dad slapping her. So, like, without even saying a word to each other they both just INSTANTLY start whaling on him, like, full blown attack mode to defend our mom. Which obviously didn't help the situation, but she did wake up and everything was fine.

Now our dad says that he's actually really glad they attacked him over what they thought was going on, because it means he raised good boys. And I still think that's true, they're very good boys.

In his head he and Falin would move back to the Eastern Archipelago and they'd see Laios twice a year tops. You can pretend to get along with in-laws you don't like for a few days a year, people do that all the time.

The actual flaw in his plan– which shows he doesn't really understand either of the Touden siblings– is the fact that if the plot hadn't happened and Falin had for some reason said yes to his proposal, Laios would have packed his bags and moved away with them instantly.
