wishing every nonverbal nonspeaking person who struggles with language and how to word things and the pressure of every single social interaction and 'keeping up' or typing / spelling / using pictures / etc "fast enough" is kind to themselves today and everyday. i hope the people you interact with are patient and i hope you are patient with yourself too . its fine to take time. its fine to communicate slower or minimally or not at all .

Survival During Turmoil
This semester I've been teaching an Ancient Civilizations class for college freshmen—that's how it's listen in the course catalog: Ancient Civilization. But that's not how I've personally been referring to the class.
I've been calling it Ancestral Civilizations and stressing at every turn that, while these civilizations no longer exist, they are not entirely gone. To call them dead or extinct or lost negates the fact that through every time of turmoil and collapse, people have lived.
People lived through the Bronze Age Collapse or the fall of the Mayan Empire or the dissolution of a Chinese dynasty. They got up in the morning and combed their hair and tended their crops and nurtured their children. They were uncertain then just as we are now, and nevertheless, they persisted. So will we.
The archaeological record is full of evidence of that day to day persistence, just like it will be full of ours. Everything you do is important—every moment of joy you snatch or quotidian defiance matters. Your life and your history matters.
Talk to your friends and loved ones. Make something. Come up with plans for the future. Keep living during tumultuous times. Persist.

My answer is "Gods are unknowable," but I'm feeling the urge to elaborate. I work with Hekate. To me, She is the a consolidation of the energies of mystery and the underworld and hidden knowledge. She is the energy I reach for when I find myself surrounded by darkness and scrambling for purchase. When I work with Her, she will send me hints but getting Her to make a presence in my life is challenging. But Gods are not the only spirits I work with or come into contact with and I feel the main difference between types of spiritual beings is how they function. I also love working with King Asmodeus. Hekate is a guide for me, but King Asmodeus will hang out with me like a friend. He's interested in what I'm doing. He heard his name just now and came running because he wants to know what I'm talking about. But Hekate? Eh, she's busy. Daemons feel much more multifaceted and complex. He will say things just to get a rise out of me. I usually hear this sort of commentary most when speaking about other sorts of spirits and I'm not saying Gods won't do this too, but I experience it a lot less. They feel larger to me, and more tenacious and so it's harder to get their attention. And then there's like, nature and land spirits, or spirits of people who are usually happy to entertain conversation with someone new.
Please reblog for more input! I'm curious what people have to say. This is just for fun; my advice is not to overthink it. Hope you enjoy! 🧡

New better pictures of my tattoos, now that it's not bright red and under harsh lights. I'm so deeply in love with them and they've helped me find so much new love for my body and appreciate my top surgery journey again. I'm happy they still show in places, I'm shocked to realize how invisible they are still. And they're hot. Click for quality, as always with this wonderful website.
Edit: since these are blowing up I forgot to add in this post, artist is @ fyodorpavlovtattoo on instagram. And I also wanted to add that these are specifically laurel branches which have a personal meaning to me but also represent victory

I know this is a witchcraft blog, but most of my practice involves simply observing nature as it is, and I think it's something everyone can benefit from. Not necessarily trying to understand it, or judge it, but quietly being present while it exists to do the only thing it's meant to do. To me, expanding my knowledge of the world is witchcraft. And almost conversely, just because we understand how something works doesn't make it any less magical. Sure, you water a seed and it becomes a plant. But that is an organism that eats sunlight and that is magical and I will not be convinced otherwise. When you look up at the Milky Way and it looks back at you, yeah it seems reasonable to point above your head and say something like, "The Gods live in the Heavens. Jupiter is up there, and he's watching over me." The line between literal and metaphorical blurs, and the microcosm reflects the macrocosm.

Cecil should win just because I think it's the funniest possible way for reigen to loose this time. Like "oh he'll definitely go to the top and loose to sans again- WOAH AND ITS CECIL WITH A STEEL CHAIR."
Twitter users and people who haven't been here many years don't even know he fuckin existed.
Till this gay man who reads the news radio in a silly lil town with nothing happening in it just appears and knocks him flat out.

Is there an archaeology thing you wish someone would ask you about because you wanna talk about it and if so would you be willing to talk about it? Here is a picture of my cat in trade but you can look at the picture even if you don’t talk about something

You know what, there IS, and it's all courtesy of @micewithknives!
I'm in charge of teaching my very own class this semester, which means I have full control over the course and I can do pretty much whatever I want. I was given a hand-me-down syllabus and overall I'm not changing much because this is my first time doing something like this and I don't want to get too into the weeds.
But the course is Ancient Civilizations, and we're getting at AUSTRALIA WEEK, babeyyy!!!
I've taken a version of this class and seen examples for a couple more, and I don't think I've ever encountered Australia in a context like this. Ancient Civ classes tend to focus on urban centers and monumental architecture, which is (partially) the result of Western bias for what counts as a "civilization" and means that a lot of cultures get left out.
With Mice's help, I've been learning about early Australian archaeology, and there is SO MUCH TO LEARN! Way too much to fit into a single week, but classes like this are really only capable of giving a very general overview. Anyway, here are some of the readings I'm having my students do:
Mice, I'll turn the stage over to you if you have anything you want to add.
