Tokyo-based game developer DDDistortion has released a new trailer and screenshots for action horror third-person shooter NIGHTMARE OPERATOR, as well as announced that main character Misha has been redesigned by Gravity Rush series artist Takeshi Oga.

About
The year is 2036. Humanity has declined. Misha is a Public Safety Operator: a contractor for the Provisional Government tasked with hunting Youkai, and protecting the Quarantine City of Shin-Chiba. Within the haunted ruins of Tokyo, she unearths a mystery that could unmake what remains of civilization. NIGHTMARE OPERATOR is an action-horror shooter about hunting Youkai in the haunted ruins of Tokyo. Combat fuses the tense shooting gameplay of classic survival horror, with the skill-based mechanics and execution of fighting games and spectacle fighters.
Key Features
Clutch System – Misha’s Modular Gun allows her to rapidly switch between Weapon Modules using command inputs inspired by fighting games. Efficiently dispatching Youkai requires maintaining a cool head and skillful execution, even as the horrifying creatures close in.
Legends Brought to Life – The Youkai that Misha encounters are drawn from urban legends, and Japanese folklore. However, they don’t appear exactly as depicted in the well-known stories. These are the monsters the stories are based on.
Powerful Status Effects – Weapon Modules are imbued with various elemental damage types that allow Misha to inflict statuses such as “freeze,” “stun,” or “bleed” upon Youkai. Learning when your next shot is going to send a Youkai reeling or freeze them solid is key to survival.
Build Your Own Combos – While exploring the ruins of Tokyo, Misha will discover and build up an impressive arsenal of Weapon Modules. Weapon Modules can be slotted into different “Command Slots” in Misha’s Modular Gun, allowing players to choose which command inputs to assign to what modules.
Lo-Rez Tokyo – The locations Misha explores in NIGHTMARE OPERATOR are all based on the real-world districts and neighborhoods of Tokyo. Famous landmarks and beloved streets are realized in a beautiful low-poly aesthetic that is inspired by the early days of 3D video games.
Kanpai! – Between missions, Misha and her team have nomikai at a local izakaya in the Quarantine City. These sections will allow players to explore archives from the broken world of NIGHTMARE OPERATOR, interact with the inhabitants of the Quarantine City, and drool over low-poly izakaya fare.
NIGHTMARE OPERATOR is in development for PC (Steam). A release date has yet to be announced.

Okie, so it's been some time since I finished cyberpunk2077 - amazing game, loved it, perfect mix of story plus fuck around and find out - and the ending was... enlightening. Something crawled up from the depths of my foggy and paranoid brain and was released into the world. I knew instantly I was saving Johnny. It didn't matter to me that he had already lived his life, nor that there were people waiting for me back in the material world, nor that I was absolutely petrified of death. I looked up at Alt and a singular tear streamed down my face. I ignored Johnny's patronizing taunts aimed to sway me as I stepped towards the unknown.
I thought of Jackie, my closest choomba who's soul journeyed with me the entire way through his bike. Viktor, the person I had come to view as a father, I remembered the last time I saw him, how distraught and hopeless he'd seemed. Judy, a person who'd been buried underneath, secretly holding power over so many individuals who have yet to realize the full potential of braindances. River, the man so dedicated to saving his city he's willing to put his own needs aside. Panam, a woman willing to take the heat from allies if it means protecting her people, a brash human that harbours a sensitive soul. Kerry, a deeply broken individual who never learned to move on from his past and carries his story deep in his soul.
But then there was Johnny, still throwing nonchalant remarks in my direction, his voice still carrying to me. I hated placing that chip in my head, hated knowing I only had a mere few weeks left to live, hated that Johnny couldn't seem to give less of a fuck. Until he did. I had just lost Jackie, but Johnny unknowingly provided me with a new constant. He could be demeaning at times, he could be the embodiment (engram?) of peer pressure, lulling my body towards alcohol and cigarettes, but Johnny soon became necessary to my survival. He dragged me back to consciousness after a particularly bad bout. He helped think up plans, cautioned me against my idiotic tendencies. He spoke to me, a constant voice by my side, showing me a whole new world.
So yes, I crossed the bridge and stepped towards the metaverse. I didn't need this body anymore. Besides, even if I decided to go on, i would only have six months. Six months in a body that was no longer my own, but Johnny's. Not that that had any sway in my decision. No. Johnny had become the sole most important figure in my life, and I couldn't knowingly kill him. Despite it maybe just being a silly game, it was at that moment that I learned something about myself: I would gladly give up my own life if it meant saving someone I loved. Because yes, I loved Johnny.
Sure, it hurt hearing those messages from all my chooms from throughout the game, and walking down those carved walls of the cemetary were brutal, realizing I recognized a few of the names, but I stood by it. I left this world, and I witnessed those that mourned me. If Johnny had gone, nobody would have been left to miss him. No one but me. So now, I get to proudly watch him start a new life while giving chances to others along the way.
I couldn't be more at peace.

I've seen the developers of Sonic, Mario, Kirby, and Balan Wonderworld refer to their games as "action games" (in Kirby's case, with the specification that Kirby Super Star was an action game while Kirby's Dreamland 3 was a platformer). I've also seen Sakurai call Super Smash Bros. an action game along with it being a party game and a fighting game. Any idea why these devs think about genres like this compared to a lot of us? Is it a cultural thing (East vs West, or maybe audience vs developer)?
Genres, especially game genres, are a whole huge mess because everybody started drifting on how they define what, and nobody was happy with how existing games were defined.
I'm technically part of that. Most people probably are.
Like, people who refer to Mega Man as a "platformer" to me are insane. Mario is a platformer, because Mario's primary thing is jumping. It's like, 75% of his games.
Mega Man... I know the meme (I think from Arin Hanson) is "Jump & Shoot Man" because you kind of do equal parts of it, but I definitely think of Mega Man more as a shooter. Like if Mario is a platformer, Mega Man having so much shooting disqualifies him from being platformer, unless we do literally just call it a "shooter-platformer" like the way music genres mix.
To me, "action game" feels too generic. So your game contains action? Great. You've described 80% of all video games made in the last 50 years. This isn't like movies.
And then you get the cheeky idiots out there who are like "RPGs mean role-playing games, huh? Well you play roles in most games, so they all must be role-playing games."
Generally speaking, I try not to engage in genre discourse because it always leads to this kind of frustrating, smug nitpicking.
To me, an "action game" is more for modern games that can't be defined by any other genre. Like, Uncharted. Uncharted has stealth, but it's not a stealth game. Uncharted has shooting, but it's not a shooter. Uncharted has climbing, but it's not a parkour game. Uncharted has adventure, but it's not an adventure game. "Prestige game" kinda works, but it lacks the drama element I'd associate with that kind of stuff (see: The Last of Us).
So Uncharted is an Action Game to me. Fast paced, contains a little bit of a lot of different things. But I also admit that's not a great definition, but it's also not a conversation I want to have on how to define it.
In general I think it's up to the people to decide what genres are and people who swing in like "WE NEED TO CHANGE AND STANDARDIZE ALL OF THIS" are never going to be successful. It's like the people who try to rail against the term "Metroidvania." Buddy, that ship sailed a long time ago and you weren't on it.

Sword Of The Necromancer Review

Tama and Koko were brought together by fate, Tama wanted to rob Koko’s temple and Koko needed someone to take her on an adventure. The two agreed to work together and travel on a pilgrimage but things went wrong and Koko died, Tama who grew deep feelings for Koko watched her die in her arms without ever telling her she loved her.  So Tama does something desperate, she enters a dungeon and takes the Sword of The Necromancer doing anything to get the power to bring back her beloved no matter what it costs her. 
This is a beautiful love story told through flashbacks, it’s not a spoiler that both women are lesbians but you learn the extent of their feelings, their relationship, and more through flashbacks Tama experiences as she kills bosses in the dungeon. It’s a really gripping story and you know the conclusion to their tragic love story right from the start but you learn that it is in fact gay and get to see how these feelings formed through gameplay. Just gonna throw our a spoiler that I think for many will be required for them to be interested and it is an unbury your gays story. There is a way to get a happy ending for these two, what it looks like, what the costs are, etc, that’s for you to find out but the lesbians are together in the end.

The gameplay has a load of ways to customize it to what you might find the most fun in terms of difficulty. For me it was turning everything to the most player friendly modes and really just being able to play a lot more laid back and I still had several deaths in my runs throughout the game but the challenge was a lot more manageable for me than if I hadn’t done so. There is a forging system, I hoarded my materials for the end and I didn’t regret it but they maybe would want to make more compelling reasons to forge items and stuff. For the most part I preferred summons until my end game build where I didn’t use any and had fully upgraded all my item slots although I still didn’t have enough to make every upgrade the maximum level of upgrade. 
Regardless of the upgrade system, the monsters you get leveling up over time is a lot of fun, you get this slight monster tamer vibe but with permadeath for the monsters but an intended feeling of being able to let them die since they hit max level pretty fast and they probably aren’t randomly rolling the most optimal build ever. There is a lot of little systems to play with and engage with as far as you want to and a lot of room for the player to express themselves with weapons, items, summons and builds. It’s a game where the player can really shine in the ways they take Tama forward. 
The flow of runs is pretty nice, you run through the dungeon, clear as much as you can, get the key, open the key, fight the boss, kill the boss, open the door, get a flashback. It’s a pretty solid gameplay flow with after you beat a boss unlocking the next floor and not having a need to do all the bosses in one run. When you lose in your settings you get to decide how much you lose. I personally enjoyed not losing a ton of stuff but if you set yourself to lose things you could leave the dungeon after every boss cleared and store items you want to keep for the future.

Really this game is something special, I am not lavishing the game with detailed praise only in so much that there is a small amount of story and while it’s all really good I don’t want to just tell you everything. Politically I think the game is simple but good, Queer rep wise, amazing, organic and sweet and clearly looking at what the community wants and really wanted at the time which was a way to undo the tragic love stories we’ve been fed. Pacing wise, it’s really gonna depend on how good you are at the game and how hard you make it on yourself. Sometimes I’d go story beat to story beat pretty fast clearing boss after boss but other times I’d take a while between them but overall the game only took me about 7 hours [I did look at some things and play on the easiest settings] so for me the pacing felt really nice for the amount of time between story bits. Also because they were predictable and rewatchable I could plan around what I was multitasking to make sure I could give the flashbacks the proper amount of attention and could even share them with my own girlfriends.

The presentation is really great too, I love the sprite art, the art style in general is pretty and I love the little CGs in the cutscenes. Obviously if they had unlimited budget little animated scenes would like be a dream but this is an indie game from an indie team, the CGs are great and there is a lot of them too, like they didn’t cheap out. The monster designs are really cute and fun and they're nice to collect and fight. The animations for the most part are really functional and work for the combat. There was no lag for me or anything and the flow felt great. The systems are simple at face but there is a lot of room to express even just in movement and in the weapons you chose.So I think the presentation is fantastic. This game is sitting among my favorites of all time. If I did a new list I think this would be for sure in the top 25 maybe in the top 10. It really is a masterpiece and one I really don’t have a lot of points i can knock against it, it’s got some flaws sure and I imagine those matter more at higher difficulty like the summoned monster AIs being a little bad but this game is like a 9/10 to me which if you know me is ridiculously high given I give games in my top 10 lower scores. Love the fuck out of this game.
If I got you interested in the game the developers are in fact working on a remake of this game in a low poly art style and some system level improvements to help fund their sequel so I totally recommend you check out those projects as well. They are Sword Of The Necromancer: Resurrection and Sword Of The Necromancer: Revenant respectively with resurrection coming out soon this summer.

Acer Aspire V13 – white year

For long time, I have collected several computers. Which are, by now, their own way, are old machines. More or less. Retro tech. So, this is my white computer. It is made of plastic. Acer Aspire V13. I spent with it many years.
I cannot say it is a gamer computer. But, you can play it, rather, normal about some things, that were modern those days! It is excellent runs with Windows 8. And, whole year, I play with it! I can say, I turn on it in a summer. And I start to explore it, as a retro computer terms, now.
It is absolutely new system installed. And something is installed. So, well, it is not a whole year. But, it is ok to have some year result for white computer. I use it. For games. And what I play. Not so a lot, but there is something. So, this is a list.

I start play! Summer. 2024. And, most of all, I play in three games! Something I try as - can it launch or not. But, here it is, three games. There are! Quake 3 Quad Damage, Colin Mc Rae Rally 3, Doom 64. Most of all I play these games by weekends. And, a special place! Special prize! I try to find some cool funny game. And I launch several times Captain Goose. Captain goose, dude!! I play not so a lot, so without places. And, I just set it as a list of games, as order of date, I launch them, and, I play these games during year. So, here they are, games I played most of all!

Quake 3 Quad Damage (Quake 3 Arena + Team Arena)
I remember this game since my sunny and winter days. During my Pentium 2 and accelerators of 3d graphics. Such a hurricane thing. Innovation. Because of, it does not have a casual levels. And, it is, really, like arenas. Locations. You run with them. And all the time - shoot.
Quad Damage – it is edition. It includes version game Arena and Team Arena.

During Pentium 2 era, I played in only Arena. Well, and, now, during autumn I played this game. So, arena after arena you make complete. So, I walkthrough this game twice. But, well, you can understand it, with most easy levels of difficulty. I can Win and Bring it on! It is first two difficulty levels. But, well, with easy level you can play with fun and with positive!
Graphics is cool and it has some fantastic thing in game. Something like, energy weapon, beams, energy balls, they are flying there. And there are some rockets. You can to select avatar from all of the characters – and, there are lots of them!

So, to start with easy difficulty level, it is correct to begin with. And, from the start, I cannot to play it well. And, only, some time after. I start to complete one arena after another one. Arenas are very different. And fantastic ones and gothic too. By style. They are very different. As a characters, which runs there. There are lots of them! And, they are very different!

I, often, to use such dark green thing. Which is shooting very fast. And, more rare, I prefer more slower rocket launcher. It happens, that shotgun – it is interesting. Especially, if to shoot from a short distance in a narrow corridor. From a far – it is, also, possible – but, it is about better aim and it is not so fatal. And, reload time is, rather, normal – second or something like that – in this place, it is big time. So, in a medium case, this dark green fantastic thing is like automatic gun. And, also, there is some fun, at least, with low difficulty levels, railgun. It is like sniper rifle. You need to stay at open space. And take a place higher. And to look all over the part of the arena or all the arena. To observe it. And, with eagle eye shoot, this way you get immediately a frag! So, this is ok to happen! At the low difficulty levels, you can perform such a tricks. I use some weapons features and arena features.

Cool thing – it is lighting. But, it is not exists on all the arenas. As you aim - it never left your enemy. And, beam with lighting, so good to see! Also, theme. So, I hard to understand, how good to use here a thing, that throws grenades. It is exciting, but I do not understand. You throw. And, you need to wait some time. After - explosion. And, everything is so fast here. No one stands at one place. From other hand, if to use it as, something like, shotgun from a short distance, you shoot at enemy – then, of course, you make a damage. Yes, it is.

By the way, with this little game – I check computer works. And, with first two difficulty levels it is not so hard to play. And enemies runs. And, you can do everything. So, it is not bad. Very cool!  Lots of arenas! So, this is a good shooter!

Colin Mc Rae Rally 3
Not only with action, but there is, also, another kind of action. It is racing. For example, rally theme. So, I enter to this territory of rally theme. Arcade rally or like a simulation. Third Colin. It is a serious game for time, when it was released! I am so happy to launch it, at last!
Interesting rally sport is here. I have, already, not big experience with racing. It is Need for Speed 2 Special Edition, Colin Mc Rae Rally 2, Wrc 6. And, so, here it is, third Mac. I like it. Every game gives its own feel of driving. And, its own graphics. So, everything, has a variations! And, some unique way, every developer all these things to see.
There is view from a cabin here, views from a back side (third person view), and there is a view from a hood. Everything you need! And, there are tracks for selection and cars too! Everything exists! But, here you need to play in career mode. For Colin Mc Rae, for example. And, to open a new tracks. After career, you unlock new track in single race mode. And, at start, you have several cars and several track for single race.
And, I am a fan of to have a race - few tracks. And, after, calm way to do some other things! So, this is not about this! All the game – you need to open it! All the things, that exists in game! So, you need to play career mode, also.
Graphics is good. Tracks are interesting. So, I was surprised by narrow track in Britain, or some place, like this. It is very narrow, such little roads, they only for one car, not even little more place. Track in Greece, I remember, also. Roads are good in game! Very different. And mountains and forest. And narrow roads. And asphalt. And, even, between the trees, like you are though the forest to go, there is such moment! When, you at your first time, do this track - it is a wow! Am I going right, or not. I am amongst the trees! And, road is going like this!
Sandy roads, of course. Such a dusty one. There is a damage. So, game makes a good emotions! Need for Speed 2 is cool. And, this game is cool too. Here it is, a rally theme, this is a feature!
I am sorry, that I cannot to do screenshots for this game. All the time, it makes a black screen.

Doom 64
Dark action game about demons invasion. Part 64. By the way, this version is very different from, so, well known, Doom1, 2 from 90s. It plays absolutely different approach. New atmosphere. But, still same main ideas. New graphics! New levels! Game is cool. Dark.

Some dark labyrinths, but you are, something like, in space. Such abandoned in space. In a cold and full of monsters space. Some bases. Some monsters. So, it plays rather well as a standalone! And, it is a cool game! They do it cool, that they release a game for PC.

Levels, by the way, they are straight, so labyrinths. Not easy. For the first time. You, even, need to think. Where to go back, and what to open. Where you miss a button.

Well, I cannot say, I play this game a lot! But, I run it and was surprised. So, it is a goose there! I think, it is about a good and kind animals. And, goose is such a goose! Aaa! He has a ship. And he can take a ship. Such a frigate, there, something like, centuries 16-18. Maybe. Aaa. It shoots with cannonball. He is like a real pirate! Well, I play it, a little! It is funny, of course! But, well, I expect from a goose  - good and kind animals, if say the truth! But, anyway, it is cool little game! Ship, you can to upgrade by the way!

No Sunday Chill for brother Titus!
The adventure in Space Marine 2 has been great so far. Kind of loving the game to be honest. This episode has brother Titus and his men exploring the swamps of Kadaku. Something lethal is out there and must be dealt with.
